I've taken the upper division version of this class which is Human Morph and passed with a B+, a course designed for Pre-Medical/Dental/Pharm students. I took anatomy as a free elective and I'm getting spanked...Exams are notoriously set up with close to correct answers and made in a way to test if you truly read the material. No cakewalk.
Like others said his class isn't the hardest, nor is it the easiest. You have to study your butt off and make sure to pay attention to the lectures and concepts and you'll do fine in the class. He's a great professor who really knows his stuff and he goes over your tests and explains what you don't understand the best way he can.
In my opinion Lovelace was a very decent instructor, he tried adding humor to the subject. You don't really need the book except for clarity. To pass his class study his powerpoints and know them like the back of your hand. Trust me I got an A:)
Although he is new to teaching, he did a good job at making the course as interesting and fun as possible. This class is not easy, no matter the professor; you must dedicate a good amount to study. He is very helpful if you really want to understand and has a good sense of humor. Definitely take him. He is awesome, and he really knows his stuff.
Go to class for the i-clicker points they are worth 60 points out of 560. There are five tests. Did not use the book that much only studied his power points. He is very helpful, funny, and kind. Best teacher ever. And he curves anything above a .5%.
Awful teacher. Worst professor I ever had. Don't recommend taking this class.
Super nice guy, funny, and very intelligent. Expects alot compared to other professors but he is very helpful and tries to help you understand as much as possible. I can say I honestly learned alot in his class. Plus he is adorable
talks very fast and gets into deep details about everything not very good at explaining have to watch online videos to learn the info, his test are very hard expects you to know and love the concepts. he doesnt take the time to effectivly explain and teach the materials just always says we are short of time
One of the worst teachers I have ever had. He may know his material very well but he is a horrible "teach"er. He flies through the material and goes on rants that nobody can keep up with. If you take this class you will have to either teach yourself, go to tutoring, or read the book.
Don't spend your money on the textbook..he says to read it but his tests are strictly from his powerpoints. I never bothered to take notes in class because everything was on those. Just study the powerpoints when it comes to exams and it's as simple as that.
If you want to pay your professor to read from the slides this guy is for you. He gives 40 question tests on almost 200 slides. He does i-clicker when the class has already ended and I am always late to my next class. AVOID.
I had him for Anatomy&Physiology 1 and 2. He's a good professor that doesnt half ass anything. No need for the book. Jus study his powerpionts and go to review sessions. You'll ace the class
Reads directly from powerpoint slides and tests are extremely difficult. Do not recommend
He's dreadful anatomy 1 he curved the first few test then ended curves but ended up not being so bad. Didn't think anatomy 2 was going to be this horrible his tests are IMPOSSIBLE and I am an A/B avrg. student his extra credit is hard also.. So u almost never get them all right. Just don't take him if you can avoid him. Worst teacher iv ever had
I've always LOVED anatomy but this class is off the wall. He doesn't curve tests but instead allows for I-clicker extra credit. I don't know how anyone with a full course load could pass this class. AVOID.
He's a great teacher, it's a&p, so be prepared to study and be challenged!! He's been gracious to curve some exams which students now days think they DESERVE, you should get what you get! So he DOES care.He gives up to 50 pts extra credit for Iclicker quizzes!! His test aren't easy but if you study you'll do good, everything right off the slide!
If you study the power points, you will do great in his class. Also textbooks aren't recommended. If you have any spare time, attend SI sessions for this course.
AVOID him. All these people saying he's a good professor are on drugs. He reads from the slides, goes over time of the class, his tests are SUPER HARD and don't make any sense. A lot of people I know changed their major because of him. A&P is a major class you need for most science majors and he will screw up your GPA. DONT TAKE HIM
If i could find out who is writing these comments and slap them i would. This class is terrible, way too stressful and the average of my class now is a 47... no curve, no mercy. he is sarcastic and does not help at allll, the only way i passes a&p1 was because of Michelle the SI leader ! AVOID
Had to change my major because of this class. His test are impossible, try to avoid this class if you can.
Completely does not understand that this is a gen ed course, gives extremely detailed tests that bring your grade way down unless you study every night all night during the semester. DO NOT RECOMMEND, might even have to change my major because of him.
I have received As and B+s for every other science class needed for my nursing major... not with his class. I am struggling and have had to completely change my study habits to just barely get the C I have right now. His tests are extremely detailed with no curves. It's sad when 400 students hv a 49% test avg. Wld reco another teacher if able
Absolutely Horrible Teacher. His tests are not reflective of the material he "teaches". He doesn't curve and even if you study every day, you will not do well on the tests. Smart guy, but in this case that's not a good thing because he puts stuff on the test that he expects us to understand like him.
STUDY HIS POWERPOINTS. This class was ridiculous. Gives you 210 slides for a 40 question test. DO NOT buy the textbook. All you need are his POWERPOINTS! Start studying a week prior and just memorize his powerpoints. He doesn't curve which is completely annoying. We have to 'earn' our curve through iclicker questions he gives us. So your curve is based on how many iclicker questions you get right. I taught myself. Barely passed with a C
Best A&P professor EVER. His test are strictly from the powerpoint and there's no guessing where the information is coming from. STUDY, STUDY, STUDY, and I don't mean last minute. I got an A.
Awful professor. Anatomy was my favorite subject until this class. Will RUIN your GPA. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS
I took Lovelace for A&P 1 and 2. I received a B plus and an A. The class is difficult but not impossible. If you thoroughly study a week in advance, you will do fine on the exams. Lovelace is a helpful teacher if you come forward and talk to him. The exam questions are small details from his powerpoints so make sure you know everything!! Good luck!
Great professor! Explains everything in a clear manner while providing a great amount of depth. Is laid back and conducts class in a very logical fashion. Not easy by any means, but if you take it seriously you'll learn a ton. Learned a lot more in his lab than i did the lecture.
Hardest class ever. Dude talks like a robot and isn't loud at all. Tests are impossible. Couldn't get higher than a B- on any of them. Ended up with a C+. Worst college experience to date.
He doesn't narrow down to the most important topics. He pretty much copies and pastes the textbook in his slides. He will break it down topics into simpler terms in class if someone speaks up. He really knows his stuff and can explain well when asked. Insane curve from clickers. Go to SI, review notes before class, read the textbook, pay attention!
No tricks nor games on exams and quizzes. He's very clear in his explanations. He even repeats and reiterates almost every complicated diagrams or physiological functions. He's very knowledgeable, and can explain anything that you ask him to. He's very experienced and educated in the material. Only pathetic and whiny students complain about him.
such a hard class, had to retake it twice. Study like a week I advance and pay attention in class.
do not have to pay attention but need to study countless hours in order to do decent on the tests
I love this class. The subject is very interesting and i trully adore Lovelace! He gives extra credit quizzes in class, so SHOW UP! His tests are not that tricky, you just have to study his ppts! I had him for A&P 1 & 2, and got an A both times. I studied friday, saturday & sunday before each exam and did very well! Take him!!
This class was hard, but it's doable. I took it during the summer and I ended up with a B+. Be sure to go to ALWAYS go to class, those I-clickers go a long way. I never bought the book and was happy I didn't. To pass his class be sure to not study the day before as the material is difficult! He is also very easy to talk too if needed!
Funny guy in general, but an average professor. I had him for Life Science & the lectures are boring he just goes over the Powerpoint slides. Most people around me during this lecture are on their phones or computers. If you wanna do well on the tests you'll have to study for hours. The class is doable though. He does pop quizzes through iclicker.
He talks so fast that you can't understand him and his tests are extremely hard. He laughs at his own jokes, except they aren't even funny.
Great Teacher, funny and makes lectures interesting. His test require you to study, but you will be fine if you read the power points. Overall one of my favorite professors.
SOOOOO insanely hard - offers no help outside of class. Does not respond to emails. Not interesting at all during class - monotone and very confusing. Tests are literally IMPOSSIBLE - killed my GPA and my ego!!
Literally the WORST teacher i have ever had in my life. He talks about things that are way over everyone's heads. If you miss a class you might as well forget it. He offers no help and the SI sessions are a joke. If you want to kill your GPA take Anatomy with him. Otherwise stay away.
He is not the best professor. Students literally have to memorize about 100 powerpoint slides in order to do good on his tests. He does not provide study guides. However, he does give a lot of extra credit with the use of IClickers as well as small and easy quizzes. I passed with a B-.
He is a very hard teacher and I would not recommend for anyone to take him
I dont know why the ratings are so low. professor lovelace is an extremely nice guy and teaches you a lot. he is pretty funny. he gives lots of easy iclicker quizzes that help your grade. tests are pretty hard, but as long as you study the powerpoints he puts on blackboard before taking the test you will do fine
He just keeps on talking and goes on and on. I was good at science until his class. DO NOT take his class.....warning you!
He made it difficult for me to want to go to class, he is very boring and his tests are extremely hard! I used to be good at science but this class was not a reflection of that. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
He's a super funny guy and he tries his hardest so that the students pass. Obviously you have to study to do well on the exams, but the things that he spends the most time are usually whats on the test. Attendance isn't mandatory but he gives out a ton of extra credits points during class. I would definitely take him again.
Lovelace is the cutest thing ever. Loved his class because the info is important to know for your whole life (nutrition etc). Go to class because he does iClicker quizzes, especially towards the end of the semester. He is helpful if you approach him before/after class, otherwise he does not respond to emails. Don't buy the book! Study PP slides
Terrible public speaker. Reads directly off power points. Go to class because he gives Iclicker quizzes almost every Wednesday. Take notes AND study power points off Blackboard. His tests are difficult.
Lovelace is a boring speaker. He literally reads the power points word for word. For his test all you need to know are the power points. Test are really general so focus all your time on power points. I studied book material so I know more but my grade does not reflect. last two test I studied power points and received both A's. POWER POINTS!
The textbook is not necessary for his class. He gives lots of extra credit as well as quizzes using iclickers so go to class! His tests are hard because he does not have test reviews nor does he give study guides. You must memorize all of his powerpoint slides(~100) in order to do well on his tests. Take him if you plan to study hard!:)
He is a very funny guy and a lot of the material covered were things I remembered in High School. He does have reading assignments for the book once in a while but you don't really need the book. Attend class everyday and study the online powerpoints and you should be fine. The only negative is that his tests can be hard and there is no curve.
Lovelace is a young chill guy, but if you ever need his assistance don't even bother trying to email him or see him during office hours cause you will not be getting help. His extra credit iClicker quizzes saved me from the hard exams. Study the power points! If you struggle with sciences, wouldn't recommend him.
I went into this class having a clear understanding of anatomy and I did do well in this course. The professor is cool and makes the class interesting, but the test are impossible. I was always finding myself saying "Why is this on the test? We didn't learn this!" Don't take his class, take another anatomy professor.
Exams are easy as long as you study.
Study pp slides, come to class because he does I clicker, and take time to study for class and you will pass. Bonus: he's a smart cutie.
Class is pretty easy, Lovelace is nice, he puts all the slides online and every test question is based off of it. Basically just memorizing vocab. This class is pretty basic for the most part, stuff i learned in high school. Kinda have to go because he does random i clicker checks and quizzes, but they arent worth much.
Took him for life science. Pretty easy class as long as you study for his tests and attend lectures. Anyone with a non-science major: take this class for your science credit
Do not need textbook. STUDY POWERPOINTS. I got over a 100% with just the powerpoints. Took him for Anatomy & Physiology I. Needs Iclicker for attendance and extra credit. Worth it for extra credit. Gives a lot. Animated when he talks about what he is teaching. Very smart man, can answer questions off the top of his head. Better than PORTER.
Honestly, Lovelace is one of the best professors I have ever had. At First I didn't take the class seriously and bombed the first two tests, but after realizing his teaching method, i did a lot better. I should've gotten an A but I got sick in the semester so I couldn't attend some classes. Take him for sure, don't let the bad reviews fool you!
Good teacher. Explains everything. All test come right from the powerpoint. Fairly easy class.
Awesome professor! He always tries to be funny and is class is totally easy, especially you are already an A-B student. Studying is minimal & I would say that you don't even need his textbook, but he does some mandatory readings. Overall he's a cool dude.
DO NOT BUY THE BOOK. Attendance is mandatory due to in-class quizzes. iClicker & tests are the only grades used, this is exactly why I wouldn't recommend this class to someone who isn't good at science like myself. He has a monotone voice that puts everyone to sleep. horrible overall experience
Bombed the first exam cuz i had no idea what to study. second one got a D. Third one got a 79. He definately works with you on the test without atually working with you. He appreciates when people come to class on time therefore towards the end he starts giving a bunch of extra credit. Animates his lectures. Just go to class and study powerpoints.
This class was extremely boring, but the lab isn't too bad. Lovelace talks fast and moves at a quick pace, and exams are challenging. Make sure you are willing to study. The book isn't necessary. Exams come from powerpoints. Make sure you attend class! 13% of the grade comes from in-class quizzes & EC. One of the easier science credits though.
The class in general can be hard but manageable if you REALLY put your time to studying. Study his powerpoints, you don't need the book! Lovelace can be fast paced but he is thorough with his explanations and takes his time to go over difficult concepts. Got A's in both A&P 1&2. The subject of A&P itself is boring imo but Lovelace is great! :)
He teaches off the powerpoint.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!you will regret it.I recommend taking this class in fall or spring because it is a case load.I took it for summer C and he basically wants you to memorize over 250 slides every 2 weeks! You do not learn in this class and cram everything. Not good for students who actually need to know this info for their medical professions.
Terrible Professor. If you want to listen to him read power points word for word and teach yourself all the material, take this class
He does not know how to manage the class times effectively. He crams so much materials in one class session that confuses everyone. He needs to learn how to explain concepts rather than ranting on and on about them like he is talking to himself in the mirror. Bad experience, overall.
It took me my second time taking his class to finally understand how he teaches. He's a good teacher and answers any questions you have, also go to SI!! He takes all of his test information STRAIGHT from his powerpoints. If you take the time to study and put in the effort, an A is not hard to reach!
Dr. Lovelace is awsome. Great professor, is a down to earth and very human.
If you do not already know alot about life science, this professor is not for you! He teaches in a very boring way. His class is torture! He only gives tests and quizzes as grades which sucks because not alot of people pass. He is an awful professor. I would not advise taking him unless science is your best subject. His class is killing me.
The class isn't hard if you pay attention and stay with his pace. He teaches and tests directly off of the PowerPoints, so you don't have to buy a book. If you quiz yourself over the material consistently, you'll be fine. Plus, SI is super helpful.
I love Professor Lovelace! He's a really cool, funny guy but the class (Anatomy & Physiology 1) is hard. Despite that, I've already taken 3 of his exams and I have an A. A lot of people complain about how hard it is and that they have a bad grade but honestly, just put the work in. STUDY THE POWERPOINTS!!!!
I would steer away from lovelace if possible. He's an okay teacher, but his lectures are long and boring, he just reads off the powerpoint slides in a monotone voice, and the tests are okay but kind of hard.
He lectures off his power points which are all on blackboard so honestly you don't have to pay attention in class or take notes, just study the power points and you "should be fine", but he makes his tests difficult by confusing you so you won't always do well. ICLICKERgo to class! Talks fast & doesn't stop for the entire 50 minutes! He's "okay".
The class is boring but the tests are not too hard. If you go to class and read the powerpoints the tests should be easy.
Lovelace is very boring- his lectures seem like they last forever. The class isn't too bad, if you study the powerpoints and jeopardy online you should be fine. His tests can be very tricky, but his class is probably one of the easier science classes at FAU.
Anatomy and physiology is obviously going to be a tough course but lovelace takes it to another level. He goes so into detail and teaches it at about a million miles an hour. Not a very good professor. The tests are very challening and the amount of information is over-whelming. Dont bother buying the textbook and he does do iclicker quizzes.
He speaks rapidly very hard to follow He gives chances for extra credit but it doesn't make a difference if you do not pass the test his SI aren't really helpful they say study his ppt but the ppt is useless unless you read the book first learn from my mistakes study twice as hard for his class than any other
Lovelace is HORRIBLE. I never understood what he said, his test make zero sense, and he doesn't even use the textbook even though he forced us to buy it anyways. Never shows up for his office hours and when you e-mail him he completely disregards what you have to say or forgets about you. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS
I have never experienced a professor so terrible. He talks so fast he almost trips over his words. Everything he says does not make sense unless you can comprehend a million words a minute. He crams every bit on information on 1 slide you have to memorize the day before an exam. I enjoyed anatomy until him, I regret every second going to his class.
HORRIBLE!!!! Beyond awful.
The man is an anatomy genius. I'm just sitting here tryna to figure out what's wrong with the people below me. He's the best person to take for anatomy at FAU. Go to class, pay attention, read over his slides! Ta-daaa! This class is no where near as hard as orgo. Yes his lectures are fast, but they are entertaining and 50 mins usually flies by.
Lovelace is AWESOME! Read the PowerPoints because they help with the test. I recommend writing them down and not just hoping to memorize by glancing like other lazy students. He does iclicker. He allows you to use any resources for your iclickers including your peers, just do not get to loud. He also gives extra credit iclickers. NDERSTAND THE PPs!
The tests were not that bad, just use notecards to study his powerpoints word for word. Go to class to get extra credit iclickers and quizzes. Those alone easily boosted my grade from a low B to a B+. If you are on top of your work, you'll be fine
Im surprised so many people are giving Lovelace such bad reviews. I have to admit his lectures are hard to keep up with, but that is mainly because the students spend half their time on their phones(me included). If you simply review the slides, go to SI and the exam review, and actually take the time to memorize his powerpoints, its not as bad.
I've gone multiple times for help. He didn't help me. He criticizes his students when you talk to him. He doesn't care if you pass or fail. I studied and went to class all the time and still ended up failing. I would NEVER take the class again I'm speaking for a lot of people. It is bad when the only class people fail is his. Don't take it trust me
Easy science class. You literally just study off of powerpoints for the test and he lets you use notes on the iclicker quizzes. Does move a bit fast but literally everything on the test is in the powerpoints so you should be fine if you study.
Lovelace is awesome!! His class is not very difficult if you put in the work. Pay attention in his lecture, study the powerpoints for tests, and do all the homework. The lab was a lot harder then his class!!! Although class isn't mandatory, he does pop iclicker quizzes, which is 10 percent of your grade. Take him!!!!!!!!
You have to really want it to be able to pass this guys class in my opinion. I would not recommend taking him unless you need the credit. He teaches off power points, which is all you need for the tests. I didn't open my book once so you don't need to buy it. He uses a program called Mastering that you need to buy though.
He speaks really fast. Going to the SI sessions is must because you will miss things he says especially when he says a million things a minute. Is you study his power points and know them inside and out you will pass. Study Study Study!
Great professor, very engaged with students and has very helpful teaching techniques. Will make you laugh and keep your attention through out the lecture (for the most part). Lectures are VERY IMPORTANT! He gives pop quizzes and takes attendance with iclicker so make sure you show up! you deffinetly have to put forth effort for the class!
He talks way too fast and speeds though his powerpoint. He wont stop saying "into which" which gets annoying. He seems to forget that his class is for non-majors and the tests are pretty difficult. Not the absolute worst professor but not a good one either.
One group project easy, one individual project easy. Tests not cumulative and easy all based off powerpoint.
DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK! And also be prepared to not have a life. His tests are very tricky and strictly from the powerpoint slides. On his tests he loves to trick you and you really have to know the material. Go to ALL of the SI sessions and study study study otherwise you will fail.
This is my second time taking Lovelace because I had him for A&P 1, but the only times I doubt myself in his class are before his exams because the class itself is tough. The people on here saying, "oh it's bad when the only class you fail is his," you have to realize that this is a tough course no matter who teaches it. Expect to religiously study
He goes through the powerpoint way too fast and this class is directed towards science majors... even though its a prerequ
He speeds through the powerpoint so taking notes is difficult. He does post all the powerpoints online though.. I studied and did pretty bad on the first test, I started going to the SI sessions once a week after that and they really help to make everything clear, did much better on test. I recommend taking him though! Study and you'll do fine
This class is not bad! Yes, there is a lot of info. Just go over the ppts each day and study for 15 mins at a time. Gives tons of extra credit! exams (4) are about 40 Q's and he curves! They are very straightfoward. No, you wont pass if you come to class, talk the entire time and never study. Need to come to every class to get extra credit! Easy B+
The class anatomy is just in general a pretty hard class but he explains things pretty well. Not sure why people blame him for them not passing. His tests are pretty much straight from his powerpoints. Going to class helps a lot because he explains things pretty well. Fast paced so you gotta keep up with going to class.
I hated him. There are only 4 tests that are really difficult. Classes have 500 kids in it so it really hard to hear him. All his tests are from his power points, which aren't helpful at him. If i were you I would not take this class!
I heard horror stories about Lovelace, but his class really wasn't that bad. His lectures were face paced and he covered a lot of material, but he also gave out a ton of extra credit. You do have to study for the tests, but I was able to get A's on all of them. Attendance is a must as he uses iclicker for quizzes and extra credit.
I thought this class was going to be brutal because of the comments. The first two tests I got a 70 and a 68 but if you go to class and actually pay attention, it's very easy to get a good grade. The last two tests I ended up with a 90 and a 93 just from paying attention and reviewing the power points. He honestly is a great professor.
Good Guy but extremely rigid with grading(extra credit provided does not make up for difficultly) and requires the purchase of Pearson MyLab(Expensive) and Iclicker($50-60)......--- DO NOT TAKE THE COURSE WITH THIS PROFESSOR ---
One of the worst professors I've had at FAU, most likely because I took him for summer. The material is easy, but he makes it hard. Lectures are straightforward from his powerpoints, he speaks 10000 words per minute and isnt very clear but there is SI and tutoring available. My word of advice would be to avoid this guy at all costs for this course
It's difficult because of the amount of material you must learn is too much. The tests are not bad but you must study, of course. He also gives homework and sometimes it's time consuming. You must be there for class all the time because he gives random i-Clicker quizzes. So you must read the material before going to class.
Very fast paced with tons of information. He talks really fast and moves through the slides faster. Don't rely on his lecture to teach you. Use it to reinforce your learning. Most of your studying and learning will need to be done outside class. When I studied in advance for tests I made a 100. When I didn't I got high 80s. Test are based on PPs.
This professor is very unhelpful. He talks way too fast and its like hes just spewing information out and breezing through slides as if hes talking to himself in a mirror , like i seen someone say below. The lecture is not very interactive or easy to follow along and comprehend. Be prepared to teach yourself everything. The tests arent super hard.
Lovelace is not a horrible teacher but he does speak extremely fast. He is VERY smart and knows a lot about the subject, if you ask a question to him he can immediately give your answer in a really detailed way. The tests are not hard but involves a lot of studying. I would take him again because he is really smart and detailed.
Professor Lovelace is a good professor. His tests are a little tough but if you study hard enough you should be fine. He does random I-clicker quizzes so attendance is mandatory. He puts all his lectures online and their is occasional online hw. An access code is required for the hw.
Gives online homework every now and then. Tests aren't too hard. Lecture often seem to take forever though. But at least he puts his powerpoints online.
He talks too fast, and he isn't too reasonable when it comes to grade. He gives extra credit for iclicker, but he needs to give more extra credit opportunities. He needs to give less tests, and start considering giving paper assignments, and he needs to help students pass. Challenge the students if he must, but stop letting them fail the class!
He is the hardest professor I have ever had. His lectures are very confusing and all he does is read off of the powerpoints. The exams are impossibly hard and you need to know EVERYTHING to barely pass. The iclicker quizzes are the ONLY positive thing about this class. If you can take anatomy with any one else DO IT. You will regret taking him.
Lovelace is an amazing professor. My opinion, the hard professors are the ones you learn the most from. He talks fast because there's alot to cover in a few months. A&P is naturally a hard class and expect to show up and study. He's detailed in every answer he gives you, goes off ppt, videos he provides help alot, iclicker quizes are easy pts. A++
Nice man. Unrealistically hard. I was warned Didn't listen Had 4.0 gpa w/107 credits going in Got my first B Likes to make exams ridiculously difficult Obscure information is on every test People with the Lab at the same time have an advantage Take this class, if you have to on Davie campus I didn't listen to the warning don't repeat my mistake
do the i-clicker pop quizzes that you can use your notes in, online homework, and read the powerpoints the day before the exam and you should be fine.
His quizzes and extra credit are all from iclickers so if you aren't in class you miss out on them. THEY ARE EASY POINTS TO BOOST YOUR GRADE!
Lovelace was a very intelligent, well versed teacher. His grades are on the basis of iclicker pop quizzes and test grades. Study his powerpoints the night before and you will do just fine. Do not buy the hard copy of the textbook, the online version with mastering is all you need.
Not sure what everyone is always complaining about. His tests are based completely on the powerpoints. All you have to do is read them. Thanks to most people being lazy and performing horribly on the exams, he curved most of them. I always got over 100 percent on his tests due to this. It's an easy A if you actually make an effort.
Easy class if you aren't lazy and actually read. Never really listened in class because test were based directly off of powerpoints. Don't need the book. 1 week before exams i'd start reading the PPs over and over and made 90+ on every exam. Hw/quizzes as well iclicker are essential to grade. He's knowledgable, answers questions, and is kinda funny
He is a good professor just sometimes talks too much and gets you a little lost. Make sure you have your iClickers at all time and make sure to study every chance you get. Reading ahead is good and going to SI is helpful as well. Anyone can pass as long as you do your studying. He is a cool professor just doesn't take disrespect.
Good professor, a bit monotonous but helpful if approached. Tests are 100% off the powerpoint presentations so play close attention to those. Placing through them will get you no where so be prepared to study. Does I-Clicker quizzes that often include extra credit so the extra points are readily available to you.
This is supposed to be one of the easier science classes but it seemed harder than it should've been. He strictly reads off power points which is something you can do yourself so if you can't self teach DROP. And that's not the worst part, the tests are supposedly straight off the power points.. But there's more than 150 slides to study for 1 exam
Lovelace is very clear and well spoken. His lectures are detailed and interesting. He tells you exactly what you need to know. He is a very intelligent man and an amazing professor.
He speaks way too fast, and there is not enough extra credit. There was homework and iclicker quizzes to score, but 5 of his exams were 81% of the grade. Unless you score well on your exams, you're out of luck. I failed 4 of his exams and withdrew his class.. If anyone says he's great and will help, DON'T LISTEN! If you take him, well good luck...
This class was only hard b/c I wasn't willing to put in the work. If u record him during class & then listen/read over the powerpoints every day, you'll be more than fine. If you're lazy & aren't a faster learner, don't take this class. Can be complicated. Go to class b/c random iClicker quizzes.
Taking his life science class it is fairly easy. Only 4 exams, some online assignments and iclicker quizzes. The exams are very identical to the power points so studying is not that difficult. He is a little too fast during lectures but the information is still clear.
powerpoint are LONG. A&P2 is avery hard course and he doesnt make it any easier.. if anything he makes it harder. had to withdrawal because the tests are so hard. To pass, u have to study after every class. & the SI leaders for this course are usually foreign so that doesnt really help either .10/10 people would recommend taking a different profes
Just show up, study before tests, do the few online hw assigned and you'll be more than fine. He gives extra credit almost every lecture through iclicker.
He loves what he teaches and knows the content extremely well. I find that he goes way too deep into detail and we don't need all the detail he provides in lecture for the exam. Exam is based on his PowerPoints, know them and pass, read the book and study and get an A. I got a B+ didn't really study that hard though, should've... oh well
If you don't pass exams, you fail the class. Exams are 81% of your grade and too much info for your brain to try to absorb. The professor doesn't offer enough guidance to any student who is willing to work hard to succeed. Take someone else if possible.
Lovelace is amazing!!! So sad he gets so much negative feedback. If you're thinking of taking him or are enrolled to have him, don't worry. His tests are copies of the powerpoints, you don't need to TOUCH the book, and the online homework and quizzes are super easy and helpful. Lectures can be a little boring but he's geeky and funny. TAKE HIM.
Horrible class to take! He gives plenty of online homework's that repeats the same thing over and over. The HWs are pointless when it comes to the test. His lectures, sounds like he is whispering (apparently does not know how to use a microphone). Overall don't listen to advisers that recommend this class for non-science majors. DONT BUY BOOK
Lovelace is an amazing, very intelligent professor! Material might be a little complex for non-science majors, but if you're nursing, bio, or anything related this is fine. Lectures are a little long but just record and listen to them once when you study and thats all you need. Test are right from the pp and only on the general info, not details.
Pros and cons if you take the class Pros: Polite professor, knows the material like a wizard Cons: Not enough extra credit, exams are worth 81% of your grade, and he talks too fast.
Lovelace wasn't the hardest science teacher in the world, but definitely wasn't easy. The science department at FAU sucks so if you have to take someone, I would take him. Be aware of hard tests, extremely boring lectures with little to no participation other the the iclicker and complete monotone voice.
I suppose everyone's experiences are unique but I can genuinely say I liked his class. The exams are fairly simple if you study his power points thoroughly. I managed to pass both A and P 1 and 2 with an A. If you like anatomy or don't necessarily like it but are good at it, you will be solid as long as you take the proper time to study.
Anyone who wants an easy F is free to sign up, because if you're not a science person, you will fail. Hardest class to learn. Your brain will be too weak to absorb the information. Unless you want a failing grade, I suggest you to not take this class.
Unless you can relate to his way of teaching and unless you're a science wizard, don't take him for anatomy, in fact don't do anatomy at all. If you take him, you'll have to try super hard to pass, or you'll end up risking an F and dropping the class.
As long as you show up to class and take the time outside of class to study you will do fine. I found making flashcards for this class very effective! He gives a lot of extra credit iclicker points. There are 5 tests and make sure to do the mastering homework because it really helps.
If I was the president of the school, I'd fire this professor, because he talks fast enough for his students to struggle with the material. The exams are almost the only way to do the work, but you'll have an easy F if you have trouble understanding.
Anatomy and Phys is a tough class overall but all but Lovelace does a great job explaining everything. All his power points are in depth. His test come right from the power points. He assigns homework that will assist in understanding the class and improving grade, and gives Iclicker points just for showing up. Study and pay attention and pass
Suuuuuuuuuuuper boring. The majority of students simply showed up to sign in and left right after (attendance was 10% of your grade). Very vague and nonchalant in answering questions. Tries to joke during the lecture but he has no personality and it's really sarcastic. Just..... don't.
Anyone wants to be in a risky class, sign up because this class is the toughest class in the world. If you think you can pass, good luck trying, because the professor won't offer too much help to any student.
NICE TEACHER VERY HELPFUL DURING OFFICE HOURS, WANTS HIS STUDENTS TO LEARN THE MATERIAL. FOUND IT EASIER TO RECORD THE LECTURE THEN GO OVER THE NOTES AT HOME.
Please offer more extra credit, please slow down when you talk, please offer easier work that will help improve grades. The exams should be worth at least 45% of the grade instead of 81%, because it's not grad school.
So the reviews on here were skeptical but i ended up taking this for a 6 week course. The professor seemed genuinely nice during the 6 weeks. We only had 3 tests, each one got harder as it went. I Clicker quizzes every class.. Biology ins't my thing but he did end up giving extra credit to everyone after the final exam which saved me.
If you're good at memorizing, you're pretty much guaranteed an A. Regardless of what other reviews here may say, I got A's in both A&P 1 and 2 by MEMORIZING EVERYTHING ON HIS POWERPOINT SLIDES (except for the diagrams). I never once read the book, the PowerPoints are all you need to study. For the online homework, Quizlet is your best friend.
I had him when the program, Mastering was part of the course. At the end of the semester he offers pretty much a whole 3 chapters that goes strictly to extra credit which helped me pass with ease. Also, my adviser told me you don't need A&P I to sign up for II but after failing and retaking the course having passed A&P 1, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND U DO
He is tough and is soaked up in his intelligence and experience. Doesnt really connect with the students.
In my opinion Lovelace is a good professor and he goes over things you need to know for the class and the exam. However, he does talk a little fast, but if you spend time outside of class to study you will pass. Attendance isn't mandatory, but he does iclicker so go to class! He also have homework as well and some extra credit with it. I don't know why Lovelace gets bad reviews. There's a total of 5 exams in the class. I know there's some people who are taking anatomy for the third time. You have to put the effort into studying and you'll pass.
Even though I am not very good memorizing he is a good professor. His lectures are long but it's only 50 minutes so just pay attention. It's college so it's going to be hard. I switched my major in the middle of the semester so I didn't really need this class but I wanted my GPA to not suffer. Just memorize the power points and do the homework
Lovelace is very smart, its very obvious from his lectures that he has 4 degrees. His lectures are good quality but they are extremely boring. He also tends to go off topic, only because he is so intelligent that maybe he'll explain things that aren't necessary.I-clicker quizzes will be a regular thing in every class. All the tests hare hard.
Super smart but talks way too fast. Doesn't really care about students, all fau anatomy my teachers suck so good luck, stay away
Good professor but you definitely have to do exactly whats syllabus to pass. There are random iclicker quizzes that are unannounced but there's also always extra credit on those or for attendance alone. Some extra credit is given by doing online hw(which you need to do to pass too). No textbook needed, just need to read PPs that are posted online
Lovelace's Anatomy & Physiology I was manageable. Not very engaging, but the basics of A&P were covered well. I recommend going to lecture for the i-clicker quizzes and extra credit, staying on top of online Mastering homework, and reviewing the powerpoint material at least two days before each exam. Anatomy lab, on the other hand, varies!
He talks way too fast for you to really understand anything he's saying so you basically have to go home and re teach yourself everything. You MUST study the power points to past the tests. It's already a hard subject and he doesn't even try to make it any easier. You should go to class for the iclicker quizzes
Skip class you won't pass
Lovelace was a great professor. Anatomy is obviously a challenging subject matter and he made a real effort to break down the material so that I could understand what he was teaching as easily as possible. Don't buy the book, everything you need to know is on the power points. He doesn't take attendance, but I recommend it for the extra credit.
He is polite and knows his stuff. He talks super fast and doesn't provide enough extra credit. Grades should come from exams, homework and papers. I know there's so much students, but there should be papers if the professor wants to learn something. He needs to provide more opportunities for grades, like papers, and speak more clearly.
The good thing is he knows what he is talking about, too bad he speaks so fast it is hard to keep up. He suggest you record him. 5 exams are 81% of your grade and homework is only worth up to 60 point. The exams are 100 points each so you see how much sense that makes. there is an average amount of homework but a lot of material to memorize.
Lovelace is a good professor. His lectures are clear and precise. However, their is a lot of content given in a short amount of time and the class can become extremely overwhelming. The exams are difficult and worth a huge chunk of your grade. But he does give a good amount of extra credit. If you ask for help, he will help you. Great professor!
His test are very difficult not because the questions itself is hard but there is just so much material in a short given time thats its very easy to forget info. No study guide. Also alot of the things learned overlap making things confusing. 5 exams, i-clicker & hw are easy just google it. This will help buffer bad grades as well as extra credit.
Talks so fast that the students won't be able to understand. All students at FAU need professors who cares and wants to pass the students who want to succeed. Lovelace mostly provides exams and little homework and little iClicker questions (Extra credit doesn't help), so that makes it tought to pass. Any student taking him is at perfect risk.
HE DOES NOT UPDATE GRADES. you get test scores, but that's it. you never know what you have in the class until after the semester ends. and even then you have to calculate the grades. MUST STUDY. i've never studied for anything and i'm a straight A student. not here. a lot of time is required for this class. he's a good person though.
Lovelace was a great teacher. He made it clear in the beginning that we had to study hard. He was funny and I thought he was hot which made the lectures somewhat less boring. He gave us the powerpoints. Also, attend class for iclicker quizzes--they help your grade. As well as completing the online homework. He was super generous with extra credit.
Be prepared to study. If you thought you didn't have a life, you won't now. Easy A but tremendous amounts of work and studying. Tutoring and SI will be your best friend.
Lovelace is AWESOME! If you go to class, study and do the mastering you'll be fine. Lovelace is a very good lecturer and offers a TON of extra credit but you have to go to class to get it! He is easy to contact and is always willing to answer questions. The tutoring and SI will be extremely helpful, especially with Michelle. I recommend lovelace!!
He's really nice and funny, but you need to work for a good grade. Some tests are extremely difficult and others are not so bad. Attendance is not required, but he gives random quizzes and extra credit via i-clicker, so I would advise going. Lots online homework and the lectures are boring and confusing. He talks VERY fast.
Professor Matthew is a very good professor. Do not think about a lot of extra credit, but yeah some of it. My Pearson Lab homework assignments a lot, and also usage of the iclicker in class.
Lovelace is an amazing professor. All his exams are related strictly to his PowerPoints. Memorize the PowerPoints and you will do fine. Lovelace gives a lot of extra credit if you show up to class. It will save your grade at the end of the semester. Mastering helps your grade significantly. I didn't do well on 2 exams and still passed with a B.
Attendance is optional, but you will risk missing iClicker questions if you miss class. Tests have questions that may not make sense as much as the info from powerpoints. The professor is a fast talker and nobody understands a fast talker.
Lovelace was a pretty good professor. The class can be extremely difficult if you don't put the effort into it. Just study his powerpoints before the exams and you will pass. His lectures were a little boring but as long as you study a lot, do the homework and show up to class, you'll easily pass
Typically an easy class, he's very informative and seems to know what he's talking about! I have no regrets taking this class!
Lovelace is a good professor who cares about his students. He can easily be reached via office hours or email. His lectures can be really dry but they're short. Attendance isn't mandatory but you miss out on a lot of extra credit points if you don't come.
great professor, just study the powerpoints, go to class so you can get the iclicker points and do the homework, he also curves the exams.
Test questions come directly from powerpoints. Could've gotten a B if I studied more. iClicker questions and homework added up to 60 points which helps a lot. Speak very fast, but all details are on the powerpoints.
I have had professor Lovelace for two Semesters, A&P I and II. Although class was at 8am, I enjoyed attending. Pop iclicker quizzes for extra credit and Mastering homework assignments are the majority of your grade, so going to class really matters. Amazing and funny lecturer.
Before I took his class, the reviews on here really made him to be a terrible professor, but honestly, I was really blessed. He's straightforward in what is asked of the class. You have 5 exams (non-cumulative), online homework (accuracy), and iclicker quizzes. Admittedly, he was a fast speaker, but he really taught the course well.
His exams are extremely difficult with few questions. I studied over 60 hours per exam and still got extremely low scores. He doesn't count any extra credit that you receive over 60 on mastering so it doesn't help you in the end. He talks really fast and puts to much information on the exams. He is funny though.
Taken in summer. Only 3 exams. NO STUDY GUIDE. 100's of terms are needed to memorize for each exam. Literally. Exam only has few q's which covered very little material after making us memorize 5x the stuff we were tested on. Major disadvantage. Poor set up for grading. HMWK takes lots of time, but easier if u google it. DO NOT TAKE. Esp summer.
Loved this professor! The class is hard but Anatomy and Physiology are not ever meant to be easy. He really knows his stuff and tries to keep the class interesting. You just have to put hard work into it and listen. I recommend you bring an audio recorder for lecture. :)
He is a great professor, he is also the only option to take Anatomy with over summer term. He gives extra credit that does help your grade overall, his exams are difficult and from the power points. If you don't mind memorizing 60 powerpoint slides per chapter and studying countless hours, this is the class for you.
Study directly from the power points & hw questions!! It's not an easy class so don't go into with a laid back attitude. Pay attention to his lectures b/c he will explain things you won't get if you study on your own. Do all the hw, do good on iclickers & get all the extra credit you can, it will help your final grade big time! Took it over summer
Prof. Lovelace is one of my favorite professors at FAU. He's got quick wit, and is very thorough in his lectures. Lots of information goes into his exams, but if you study and keep up with the workload, you'll be fine. Just don't slack off... HW is straight to the point, he does not screw you over. The grade you get is the grade you earned.
Lovelace is an amazing professor & really knows how to teach. Pay attention to his lectures. I never took any notes, I just went to lecture & tried to grasp the material. He is an amazing lecturer if you just give him a chance. For exams & quizzes, I studied right off the powerpoints he would upload. Know the powerpoints and you will be set. :-)
This class is hard, there's no way out of that. In the summer, it's A LOT of information at once. Professor Lovelace really does want to help you, but you need to study. The tests come straight from the powerpoints, but there will be 13 powerpoints on one test with 30+ slides each. I wasn't expecting that going into this class
Study the powerpoints and you will be fine. Teacher is amazing.
Lovelace is a great lecturer but he goes a little fast. His tests are heavily based on his powerpoints. Anatomy and Physiology is a hard class by default so he may seem hard on his students but he really cares and gives many extra credit opportunities through I-clicker quizzes, hw, etc.. You NEED to study and put in effort to do well
Lovelace is an amazing lecturer that wants you to succeed, as long as you're willing to work for it. Tests are based off several 20-40 slide powerpoints per exam. Attendance is not mandatory, but he does take I-Clicker quizzes and EC which really helps your grade. He does talk quickly, so take notes before the lecture. Great teacher, hard class!
He's very intelligent and talks very fast. I recommend recording the lectures and have your i-clicker ready at the end of class because he likes to give quizzes sometimes at the end of class so be ready and you really need to study for the exams; He'll never try to trick you on the tests, you just really need to study and be prepared.
Professor Lovelace is an energetic and knowledgeable professor who can make class interesting. As long as you study the powerpoints for the tests, do the online Mastering A&P homework (not bad), and come to class for extra points and some I-clicker quizzes, you are good to go.
Yes he talks fast but if you record the lectures and attend SI sessions outside of class there should not be any problems. At times the slides from the lectures may seem confusing or complicated but completing the supplemental handouts found on Canvas are a no brainer. Plenty of extra credit there if you don't do well on a test to help you.
Prof. Lovelace is an excellent lecturer. He gives PLENTY of extra credit. He gives 5 exams, up to 20 HW assignments throughout the semester, and iClicker quizzes, which count as extra credit and will safe you when you are stuck in between two grades. Exam content IS his lecture slides. No study guides.
Professor Lovelace does talk fast occasionally, mostly towards the end of class before Iclicker questions. You do not use the textbook for readings or anything, I used my lab textbook for reference. That said you do need the code from the textbook for the homework. This class is not easy, however, if you put in the effort you will be fine.
Lovelace is one of my favorite professors here at FAU. He has a great personality and a good sense of humor. He is one of the only professors Ive had who knows the material like the back of his hand. Just study his powerpoints and participate in lecture and there will be no issue.
Lovelace is an amazing professor. Even though he talks pretty fast, you can tell he's very passionate about Anatomy and Physiology. Do not be discouraged, for this course is a little rigorous. As long as you study his PPTs and do the Mastering homework you'll be fine.
The lectures are heavy but only because the content is complex
Most knowledgeable professor I've ever had. The class is difficult, but he breaks it down in a way that's easily understandable. One of the most intelligent and memorable professors I've ever had. At the end of the semester, I earned a 103% and this was my first A at FAU in two years.
Lovelace is a great teacher for Anatomy. He may talk fast and with big words, but he wants nothing but the best for his students. As long as you show up to class for the iClicker quizzes and study hard for his tests, you'll do just fine. Really helps if you are actually interested in Anatomy.
Lovelace speeds through the material so, it's really important to keep up with what's being covered or you will fall behind. BRING YOUR ICLICKER EVERY CLASS
Lovelace is a great prof. Study the powerpoints and you'll do fine. Only issue I have with Lovelace is he likes to go over by a couple of minutes so if you have class right it's annoying
Lovelace was an awesome science professor. However, you really have to study to pass his tests. The tests come straight from the powerpoint and the homework is extremely easy. He does I-clicker quizzes and will sometimes take attendance. He gave a lot of extra credit which helped bring my grade up.
amazing! it is not an easy A, though! he has iclickers almost every class, sometimes they are extra credit, sometimes quiz points but at the end they add up so try not to miss! just study his powerpoints really well. i never paid attention in class just made notecards for the PPTs. my friends thought i was crazy but ended up with an A in A&P 1 & 2!
I love Lovelace. He's amazing and so knowledgeable. Exams are straight from powerpoints but require a lot of effort bc anatomy is a hard subject. A lot of extra credit also. He's extremely caring and I'd love to take another class with him. I highly recommend.
Lovelace is the man. I took him over the summer for A&P 1. The classes were 3 hours long and he lectures throughout the entirety of them. But he knows what he is taking about and explains everything in great detail. He is truly passionate about the topic and wants his students to actually learn from him. Study hard and it will pay off.
I took Lovelace in the summer for BSC 2085. He is really nice, he talks very fast and its important you pay attention in his lectures. I went to tutoring that helped my grade and there were extra credit opportunities. We also used Iclickers.
Got an A for anatomy 1 and 2. Just study to powerpoints, go to SI tutoring, and youtube!!! Dont stress but do use your time wisely for this class for studying.
I enjoyed this class, but it was difficult for me since there was a lot of information given in a short period of time (summer course). Tests are hard, so study PowerPoints and homework! Theres a bunch of homework assignments online, so be prepare well. iClicker is used for random pop quizzes. Because of this, make sure to stay in class!
The class is hard, i struggled with it at first because i didn't know his method, but when i did it got better. iclickers whenever he wanted so skipping is not an option, talks way too fast and sometimes he's funny. I stopped paying attention and showed up for the quizzes, if you are able to teach yourself then do so. Lot of extra credit!!
I absolutely love him, he's one of the best teachers I've had. Will definitely be taking his class again for A&P 2. It's definitely possible to get an A even though the material can be complex, just put in the time and effort to really learn the material and you'll do great
Professor Lovelace is an awesome professor. He is very smart, nice, and understanding. If you don't go to class you will miss the iclicker points he offers. Also, if you are not going to read the book and just have a great anatomy background you will fail his class. He will emphasize the important things on the power points that will be on the test
Absolutely love this man. Do the main points and study exactly that and youll succeed in his class. He is a good teacher but does cover a lot of material. I would reccommend recording his lectures and paying attention. Then go home and copy notes. Taking him again for A&P two. Five exams that weigh a lot. Barely use textbook, but need it for hw.
I took this class over the summer so our lectures were three hours long with a small break usually in the middle. Lovelace lectures the entire time. Do all the homework, and pay attention during the iclicker questions. It's A LOT of memorization. He is a pretty cool dude though, and tried to make the lectures somewhat enjoyable.
Be ready to work and study really hard, if you don't study now your going to need to. He talks very quickly and the topics are complex. He does random iClicker quizzes so you pretty much have to go to all of his classes.
hardest class I've taken at FAU! show up to class or you for sure won't pass! Tests are impossible study your butt of but the way he words them you will prob overthink yourself and choose wrong choice. HW every week but puts as a mastering score at end of semester but make sure you do them. 5 tests throughout year! lots of extra credit in class
One of the best science professors I have had at FAU. A&P isnt an easy subject so you can't just expect to go to lectures and automatically be able to pass the exams. If you are going into the medical field then this class should very well prepare you for the harder classes you will one day take. He's actually a really funny person to talk to also.
I loved A & P 1 because of Lovelace! It's exciting to have a professor who actually cares about the subject. This class is entirely lecture based so good luck missing class. The tests will be easier to tackle if you go to class and break up your studying bit by bit. He really does everything he can to try to help us.
He is very smart about the subject and very passionate about it but an extremely hard professor. Test are hard, so study and be prepared. Go to SI sessions starting from the beginning.
Very thorough and knowledgeable on everything he discussed. Super friendly and makes it easy to pass. Just show up and pay attention to the lectures.
Dont take if science is not your strong suit or if it isnt required for your major. But if you have/want to take it, make sure you take Lovelace. iClicker quizzes at the end of every lecture, 9/10 times has extra credit opportunities included. Mastering assignments but you can find the answers on quizlet. Tests are extremely difficult.
Best professor on the campus. His lectures are explained in a way that anyone can understand. You do not need to read the book at all to get a perfect score on every test. All of his power points are on Canvas, and they are the only thing you need to study. If you study the power points and learn everything on them, you are solid.
Be ready to sit through lectures and do a lot of studying. This class is really hard but there are other students who study a lot and get As so its possible if you work for it. Lovelace does make the lectures interesting and funny when possible. There are random pop quizzes and often times go towards extra credit which is really nice
His lectures can be a bit lengthy and boring, but he knows what he's talking about and is a nice guy. If you study the lectures and Mastering homework, his tests are very straightforward and simple -- he doesn't ask anything that crazy. I wish I could take him for more classes!
Lovelace is a really good professor. He's the only one that teaches the anatomy lecture so you're stuck with him. He tries to make the lectures funny and you can tell that he really has a passion for what he teaches. He also gives out a ton of extra credit opportunities. Good luck!
Hands down the worst lecturer Ive ever experienced, hes a nice guy but puts you to sleep very quickly.
Dr. Lovelace is probably one of my favorite professors at FAU. A&P classes are notoriously hard. Professors have a lot of material that they HAVE to cover regardless of the university. Given that , he really does his best to keep your attention througout the lecture. He has great tone inflection, is a smart dude, makes good jokes, and grades fair.
I took his class my first year at FAU and it's a great first year science class to take. Lots of material and if your not a Science major it may be a lot. His TAs are just as fun and energized about helping out during tutoring sessions as he is about teaching the actual material. BTW Matis is the BEST TA EVER! Wish there was a rate my TA
Prof Lovelace was a really good professor and overall nice guy. This class was by far my most difficult class this semester. Material is complex, but manageable. Positive note, LOTS of extra credit. He genuinely wants everyone to pass his class and will do everything he can to help you out w extra points, but STUDYYYYYY
First off, remember that college is meant to challenge u AND change u. Secondly, this course is rather easy when u look at the big picture. You have a lot of pp slides to read, but are usually tested on the big picture. Get off ur phone & pay attention. Prof. Lovelace is very knowledgeable & has an open door policy. Truly a wonderful experience.
Lovelace is truly amazing. He's funnyyy and makes the topics enjoyable. He gives powerpoints that need to be studied to pass the class ! He gives extra credit iclickers and regular quizzes on iclickers so don't miss class.
I took Lovelace for A&P 1 and A&P 2. He is a good professor. He try's to keep all of his lectures interesting and funny. He offers a lot of points by iclicker (a lot of EC too) as well as homework. Majority of your grade does come from tests. I found his tests challenging. Several of the chapters he makes you learn by yourself.
A genuinely great professor. I've taken many science classes prior and he teaches things much more effectively than most. He gives lots of extra credit iclicker questions from the previous lecture material. Anatomy 1 was more basic anatomy while Anatomy 2 was more physiology (2 was harder imo). Study a little every day and you're solid.
I was looking forward to having him teach the class. However, he will not be there for the rest of the semester since he has problems going on and he was only there the first day, so theres a substitute for the rest of the semester. You have to go to class because of iClicker. If you study a lot youll do fine. The mastering assignments are easy.
So, he wasn't able to lecture this semester so we had a sub in. The material you can learn on your own if you study, but attendance is taken through iClicker so you have to show up. The person we had lecture for us was not good at all. Granted she did work with you if needed and gave extra credit for blood drives. I understand she did her best but
WORST professor Ive ever taken in my life. Its been 5 years and Im still not over it. He changed my friends complete grade in the class to an F and gave me a D. He doesnt like girls who speak up for themselves and targets them sending mass emails to the class about them. Not sure how he still teaches!
Professor Lovelace is a gem. I took his class through fall 18 and spring 19 and got over 100 in the class. Unlike what other reviews say, his tests are easy and he tells you EXACTLY what you need to know. Most classes his has pop quizzes on iClickers, but they're open note and can be counted as extra credit. Hw is all on quizlet.
Terrible reviews for such a great professor. This class is needed for higher professional schools and if you can read and do the work then you should reconsider your life and major. You have to work and understand the material.
Professor Lovelace is the best professor I have had. He is a great teacher and keeps you engaged. He will answer any questions you have. The only thing is you HAVE to study. If you do not study you will not pass. He gives a good amount of extra credit and homework with plenty of time to complete which help so much if you aren't a good test taker.
Hes a great teacher but the tests feel impossible. No matter how many lectures I rewatch, what notes I take, what quizlets I do its hard to even get an average grade. If youre about to take this prepare to take a quiz every other class. You have to put all your time and effort into this class for a decent grade. Also uses lockdown browser.
Lovelace is a great professor. He is passionate about what he teaches. He wants his students to pass. He offers SO much extra credit. This semester was online and there were frequent quizzes meant to mimic iclicker quizzes of an in-person class (5-10 MC questions with some EC in there). Tests were easy because questions came from the PowerPoint.
i loved professor lovelace! it was an easy course, but TONS of information to memorize. i took 5 other classes including his and i most definitely spent a majority of my time focusing on his class the most. he offers a lot of extra credit and all information is in the powerpoints. i didnt use my textbook at all.
this is the best professor in the entire campus. LOTS OF EXTRA CREDIT, he wants every of his student to pass, quizzes very often but with extra credit on them. no need of a text book, the PowerPoints have everything you need for the semester. hard material and a lot to memorize but if you can't do that maybe you are in the wrong major.
I won't lie, it's not an easy A, but you won't fail either if you actually STUDY and TRY. He offers ALOT of EC opportunities, which I'm very thankful for. Since my experience was online, zoom call wasn't mandatory. if you don't go to the class, please study and rewatch the recorded zooms. STUDY and you will pass TRUST. Test material Powerpoint
Great person, ok prof. One of the better profs in the bio department. Online due to COVID but this class is serious work, and get ready to do a LOT of HW. Psych majors: brace yourselves. The actual curriculum is alright and as long as you put in the work you'll do fine. Mr. Lovelace is very easy-going and extremely accessible, it's a hard class tho
Professor Lovelace is an excellent professor! He provides students with multiple extra credit opportunities, and he is very accommodating. If a student ever has an issue regarding a certain concept, he is more than willing to explain it. You definitely have to study, but all the information you would need to know comes directly from the PPs.
I had professor Lovelace my fall semester during COVID, so online. He is an amazing professor but the material is a lot to learn. The class is not easy what so ever but its not because of him. Be prepared to study and he gives a lot of extra credit on the hw.
Lovelace is an amazing teacher. Anatomy is a hard class but not because of him. I highly recommend him. He offers enough extra credit for you to pass even if you failed every test. I will be taking him again for Anatomy 2
Professor Lovelace was an amazing anatomy teacher. It does require a lot of studying, but everything you need to know for the exam is already on his powerpoints! Keep up on homework and at the end of the semester there is extra credit for hw. He is very helpful and down to earth. I would recommend everyone take this anatomy class.
Lovelace is a great professor. He is super chill as a person and loves what he does. He is not the reason for his low rating. Its the material. Its just a lot to cover but he does a really good job imo. Theres a lot of studying that needs to be done on your end but he will help you as much as possible with extra credit, office hours, and lectures.
Hes a really cool dude but lots of homework assigned. He assigns a lot of the homework randomly and same goes for quizzes. Lots of people would miss the pop quizzes cause he would only let us know like 1 day or even 1 hour beforehand.
If you do not have the discipline to study then you will not pass. It's lecture heavy but he gives extra credit & no textbook is needed. Ive only gotten A's on his test but that is cuz I study a lot. I do not like how he tries to fit so much info in each test but his test never include info that is not in his power points so there are no surprises.
Professor Lovelace is a great guy! He's funny sometimes when he lectures but it's hard for me to understand his material, but it's not his fault. He has office hours and offers help if you need it. Uses MyLab and Mastering for some quizzes and all homework. Offers a large amount of extra credit. Overall, great professor, just a bit boring.
Overall, this is a very easy class to pass if you study well enough for the exams. Textbook is not needed however you will have to purchase MyLabmastering to complete homework and some quizzes. There are a lot of extra credit assignments offered to boost your grade. Make sure to pay attention bolded details in the PowerPoints. Watch YT if needed.
4 exams which are pretty difficult and require lots of time to study. Uses MyLab for homework which is not too hard but takes quite a bit of time to complete. Lots of extra credit given on the homework but it brought my grade up more than a letter grade so I highly recommended doing it. Homework sometimes appears randomly so check MyLab often.
took this class as a six week course- do not recommend it. However, very knowledgeable professor and tons of extra credit. Just a lot of material and time devotion required.
Professor Lovelace is a great anatomy teacher, HOWEVER, be prepared to study!! His exams were based on his powerpoints and his classes are lecture heavy. Word of advice, start studying the material the day it is given to retain info. The extra credit and hw on mastering saved most of the students
AMAZING professor. He lectures pretty well but this class is hard so you have to really study & work for the exams. The exams are made pretty easy so it's all on YOU to study & practice for it a lot. THERE IS SO MUCH EXTRA CREDIT in the homework & he gives extra credit quizzes & questions during lectures which saves so many people & is great!!
Lovelace is amazing. If anyone says different, they just didn't study. His exams are based off of his power points and he gives lots of resources for you to fully understand. He cares about his students and is always willing to answer questions. There are 5 exams, TONS of extra credit (like it's crazy) just study, stay on top of it- guaranteed an A
Lectures are not very helpful. A lot of rambling. He asks you to study 4-5 PowerPoints for each exam (all 20-60 slides) with only a small portion of very specific questions on the exam.
Your life has to be this class if you want to get anywhere close to an A. His lectures are unhelpful-goes into extreme detail about things that arent on tests. Wont know what your grade is as he doesnt put in quiz/homework grades until the end of the semester. Quizzes are only announced the day of so you have to drop everything to take them.
Lovelace is good at explaining the material (uses lots of examples), posts lectures online and offers many extra credit opportunities. Stay on top of the work, study hard, and ask for help if you need it and you'll pass. Side note, he never responds to emails so ask him questions before/after class if you need to.
Lovelace, if you have an alright attention span, is an absolutely incredible lecturer. I loved listening to him. He is very knowledgeable about the field and caters to most learning styles and provides everything you need to pass. You do have to try though. It's not easy and I found his tests reflect the effort put in by the student.
Exams are based off lectures which he posts recordings of, as long as you study the power points you'll do fine. Content is hard but if you put in even a little bit of effort you can pass this class. Homework and online quizzes make up 37.5% of your grade, 5 exams make up the other 62.5%. Lots of EC opportunities throughout the semester.
Exams are based off of the power points, there is a lot of content to go through so studying is important. The homework assignments are long but they're easy points and he gives a lot of time to complete them. You definitely do not want to do them last minute. There are several extra credit opportunities and he is very kind and willing to help.
Lovelace himself is a great professor and lecturer. His lectures are actually very entertaining, he cracks lots of jokes with the students usually. And knows when and when to be serious. His TA is also pretty cool and helpful. The class itself has lots of homework and the exams are fairly difficult, but study a lot. He gives lots of extra credit.
Although I did not pass this class, it was simply because I did study as much as I should have. Lovelace is a great professor and he is honestly super funny and gives lots of extra credit. I ended with a B+ in A&P1, but A&P2 was just so much harder. I will have to take this class again because I do not want to take Brooks. So I will update then.
Study the PPTS, his exams are SPECIFIC to them. Exams are packed with info with not a lot of time in between them. However, all exams (including the final) are NOT cumulative. He gives tons of HW (& EC), but you have a lot of time to do them and they pull your grade up a lot. Overall, he's an okay professor, and the class is A-able, but not easy.
Terrible professor. My father passed away and wasn't able to take the final on the makeup day or the actual day due to the funeral services, and he never messaged me back on how to make it up. Constant emailing on my end but he barely replied. A very disappointing end to the semester and an even more disappointing professor.
Course is not easy. PowerPoints are useless to study because you will study everything on it & only a few items will be on the exam. Exams are super hard, trust me, they are not easy; easy only to nerds. No study guides are given. Wonderful class if you are trying to become a nurse, but if you're not - this course will be your worst nightmare.
Professor Lovelace is alright. His lectures are very lengthy and tends to steer off topic during them which can be distracting. The homeworks are a little lengthy but nothing too bad. Attendance isn't really mandatory but it is suggested you go so that you actually do well. Lots of extra credit opportunities that can boost your grade a lot
Professor Lovelace has to be one of the worst professors at FAU. He simply does not care about his students and believes that his class is the only class that matters in your schedule. His powerpoints are useless and wont teach you anything. He puts new quizzes onto my labs without telling you & doesnt submit grades until the end of the semester.
Failed every single test horribly and still passed thanks to the extra credit. Thought about withdrawing but glad I didnt. Do all the homework and quizzes (especially the extra credit) and you should be fine. If you want a better grade, study! His powerpoints are lengthy but its what youre tested on, for the most part. Not a bad professor.
He does not require attendance, however, i suggest attending lecture because you can miss a lot. Tests are tough.
He is such a nice professor. For this class we had 5 exams, homework, and tons of extra credit.
After taking AP1 with Professor Lovelace, I decided to take him again because he's just THAT GOOD. Many people act as if it is the professors fault that AP is such a complex subject- its not. He gives lots of extra credit in hw and also reminds you to study a little bit everyday to make the work easier. The exams are legit the powerpoints!
Had Prof. Lovelace for A&P 1&2. His exams come straight from the PowerPoints. Don't listen to all the negative and hateful reviews since most of them are freshmen and they don't want to put in the effort. Granted I am also a freshman but I didn't attend the lectures and still got A's in both classes. Compared to Orgo 1, this class is easy.
As long as you listen to his lectures and study Powerpoints, you have an A. I love how the tests come straight from the PowerPoint, which makes it so much easier. No assignments, just a few in-person exams and easy online quizzes so make sure you study for them.
Cool guy and cares about the students his lectures can be just him talking about something random but at the end of the day we all pass the exams
He gives tons of HW and EC which are good grade boosters. His lecturing style was unhelpful to me; I stopped attending lectures and still got an A so you don't really have to go - his exams come straight from the PPTs. The final wasn't cumulative but it was PACKED with new info (260 slides of content - double the amount his exams usually test on).
Professor Lovelace is the best professor for this course. He actually cares about his students and about making sure they understand the material being tough. Thank you Lovelace for providing all of the study materials we need to pass and for the extra credit opportunities.
Professor LoveLace is a great professor! He talks fast, so beware. He gives tons of extra credit, you definitely have the opportunity to pass his class with a C or better if you do decent on the exams. He is really knowledgeable about the information he lectures about.
Take him!! Best Professor ever! The subject is complex but he paints a picture for you beautifully so you can understand the subject! don't memorize, understand the material. 5 Exams, his "main points" are your best study guide! fill it out and study with it, I got straight As in all exams that way, lots of Extra credit, HW and quizzes help a lot!
Lovelace is by far my favorite professor here at FAU. He offers tons of extra credit and formats the class very easily. Study hard for the exams, information will come directly from the lecture power points. This can be an easy A if you stay on top of your studying.
Lectures aren't mandatory but it definitely helps to go to all his lectures. He is great at breaking down things to make the lesson easy to understand while still being fully in-depth. He makes sure to answer all questions during the lecture halls even if it puts us behind a slide. I would definitely recommend him for anatomy and physiology.
Super friendly, funny guy who explains things so well, making anatomy less confusing. He happily answers questions during and after class. Anatomy is difficult and he goes pretty fast, but he gives reminders in-class and isnt rude/tough on us at all. Favorite professor so far. Really brightens my day
Good teacher.
He offers lots of extra credit and goes extremely in depth with his lectures. You don't need to attend them, however that's just based off of my own learning. If you need anything to be broken down, it would be a good idea to go rather than to learn it yourself. Make sure to know all his main points!! He makes it very possible to pass his class.
I barely went to any lectures because he confused me from talking so much and so quick. If you're not a procrastinator you could actually do well in this class, all you have to do is study the powerpoints. Lovelace does care about his students if you talk to him about any concerns though, great person.
Lovelace truly cares about his students and tries his absolute best to make sure you understand the topics and pass his class even though Anatomy and Physiology is a painfully difficult class. He gives loads of extra credit and tons of opportunities to up your grade. Going to the lectures isn't mandatory but there is extra credit through iclicker.
His class is hard but he offers so much extra credit and lots of resources for the material. He tends to ramble in his lectures but overall is not a bad teacher at all.
I enjoyed this class but it is a lot of work and takes a lot of time out of class. Lovelace normally posts the lectures and records them as well so you can study whenever. Make sure to do the homework and quizzes because they help your grade a lot. I enjoyed this class and learned a lot from it.
i took this class twice now & i have to admit, the previous yr i failed- it was my own fault. hes so willing to help & its obvious he cares about ppl passing the class. theres TONS of EC & hw - not doing them will make or break your grade (which is why i didnt pass the class before). this is a difficult course so make time to study for tests
Lovelace was amazing. Study his main points and re-do homework problems and you will get an A. His powerpoints are long but if you put in the work and keep up with all of the homework and quizzes then you will do well! Also gives extra credit through clicker. 10/10 highly recommend.
Would recommend him for anatomy a lot of extra credit throughout the semester.
If you are science major take him for AP1 DO NOT TAKE BIO.Princples. Professor Lovelace is caring and offers so much help. He has office hours and he will help with ANYTHING. Tests are hard. He gives a lot of extra credit. Took him in the summer& I have no regrets! 10/10 teacher one of the best at FAU One of the most caring science teachers there!
ONE OF THE BEST TEACHERS AT FAU.
Definitely lecture heavy, all his exams are based on his ppts but he is very caring and considerate. he has extra credit opportunities to help boost your grade up as well.
Hes excellent- the course material is extremely difficult but he does an amazing job explaining and gives a lot of extra credit
