Take a class from Bro. Babcock. He is one of the best teachers at this college. He makes learning fun and interesting. Class is never a bore, and his small class sizes let you learn alot of new things. He also lets you revise your essays until you get the grade you want and deserve.

Love him! He's an awesome teacher and really made poetry fun and interesting (who'd have thought??)

This is seriously the best teacher I've had in college so far, and I'm a junior. He makes class a lot of fun, with lots of participation from the students. Plus it's almost impossible not to get a good grade in his class.

This is the first english class that I actually felt excited to learn and write. He participates in everything you do, including writing things himself. Absolutely hilarious and it is obvious he knows what he is talking about. He brings everything down to your level and is very realistic with assinments and work.

I loved this class. I took it my freshman semester and I have never learned more about writing than I did in this class. Brother Babcock is an excellent teacher, I only wish I'd had the opportunity to take another class from him since then.

This was my favorite english class I had at this university. I love the group activities he does to improve our papers, and if you get a bad score you can work on it and then go meet with him for hopefully a better score

You have to do the work, but he is lenient about it. Allows for constant revision, or well, for me, i revised whole semester until i got 100. I recommend him for anyone. 4 papers. No tests, weekly quizzes are easy, just a nice guy over all.. besides, he is a MALE english teacher

He is the best teacher I have ever had. I really learn to write good papers with him. Classes are not boring, and you will always can improve your papers. You can sign up for appointments to see him, fix your papers, and increase your grades. I fixed all my papers until I got an A not only in my papers but in the class.

He makes English fun and enjoyable. I wouldnt miss one of his classes, they are always fun. He shows us "inspirational video clips" and plays games. You would think its a waste of time but you'd be amazed, you learn a lot!!!!

He is very willing to accept suggestions for improvment and the student has a lot of say in how the class is run. He makes funny comments and has a great imitation of the British accent.

This was my favorite class! He got so involved with the students and even though he is a hard grader, he has helped me learn a lot! He is very enthusiastic and has the perfect teaching methods. One of the best teachers I have had. In his computer English class he really used the computer to his advantage. His wit is very dry, and very funny. His class is always engaging, never dull. His teaching style focuses on how a student can improve and he allows students to continuously revise their papers for a higher grade throughout the semester.

Bro Babcock is funny and extremely creative. As long as you work with the TA on your papers a lot, then you will get a good grade. I feel like I learned how to write better while taking this course. The quizzes can be slightly tricky so make sure and do the reading before. Overall, I really enjoyed this class.

Fairly easy. No homework. There are daily quizzes, so show up to class every day. Bro. Bab**** makes English class enjoyable with video clips and games. You can also resubmit your essay to increase your grade. Oh and another good thing is that we only went to class for 1/2 an hour everyday instead of the 1 hour it was scheduled for.

There are 5 point quizes every day from the your reading in the text book. The essays are graded fairly harsh, but you can retake write them as much as you want which is nice. Overall you just have to put in a lot more work in writing your essay.

Brother Bab**** class is awesome. I didnt like writing before, but after this class i really enjoy it. You can re-do you papers as much as you want with the TA and get better grades. Basically, if you put the work in, its impossible not to get an A

His teaching style is very frustrating. He makes the students come up with ideas of how to run class each day, and we spent way too much time discussing unrelated things. I did not feel like I understood the literature any better after class than I did before. And his grading system for quizzes is really harsh.

Favorite English teacher ever. Have to work some, but he has an open-door policy so he'll go over your papers indavidually and tell you how to improve then Let You Re-Write Papers As Much As You Want. That's what I loved, I could re-submit papers when I got a bad grade until I got an A. Not super easy gradeder, but wonderful class.

Babcock is a great teacher. attendance is not mandatory, but I ended up with a B+ instead of an A because I blew off going, and you get daily points that add up fast. 3 papers and lots of writing exercises. You get to try to redo your paper and present it to the TA for a higher grade, which is way nice. All in all, great guy. I'd recommend him. A+!

I love Brother Babcock! Every day in his class is different and he is most definatly the best English teacher I've ever had. He is funny and very willing to help you in any way he can. He is also very clear with his expectations.

Babcock is a freakin kick in the pants. The man lives in a different world. Shows random movie clips everyday just cause he can. Funny guy. Not a bad class. papers aren't bad, but grading is harsh. Just work with the TA to get the raised. Class is easy, waste a lot of time, but will help give you a solid foundation in writing.

Just read syllabus, he knows what he is talking about! He was less helpful than I would have liked, but has a TA available. A LOT of class participation, classes were VERY fun, time passed quickly. His (grading) point system for essays was clear, but it was unclear you lost points for. That was frustrating. All in all great class great teacher!

You would be not smart to choose someone else for basic English! He is amazing! As long as you work to revise your papers, you will get an A. You only use the textbook for the first half semester, and that's minimally, so if you have a friend in the class.... He's funny and cares about the students. Absolutely hilarious. I read his syllabus and couldn't believe some of what he put on there, but once I got to know his sense of humor, awesome. I added late so I missed the first day of class and spent a few weeks in confusion, but once I saw how class worked it was great. Didn't learn a lot ABOUT writing, but about how to get myself to write.

One of the greatest teachers I have ever had. He cares so much about each of his students and takes time to know everyone's name. I learned more about myself as a writer then I had ever before. He made writing fun and I usually hate english. I want to take one of his classes again just to have him as a teacher.

Overall, I think I learned a good amount, but not as much I would have liked. Most of the corrections for my paper I gathered from the TA. You'll get an A. Its a good class.

He grades harder at the beginning and throughout the semester grades easier. You need to do the daily assignments before class because there is a test at the beginning of each class. He is nice, funny, but changes the deadlines all the time without telling you.

Brother Babcock's classroom model is awesome, however I did experience some minor issues. His class was set up for 3 papers of the semester, and when you got them back and didn't like the grade you received, you could meet with the ta and resubmit for a new grade. It was great. But, his grading style I felt was very objective, and hard to follow.

Don't let that scare you off though! He lets you revise every essay up until the end of the semester. He is 100% willing to help--all you have to do is ask.

He has a strong belief in free agency so you there's no deadlines in his class, and attendance is not required. You write 4 papers the whole semester and he starts hardest paper to easiest. You can revise papers after graded to get a higher score. Really you get the grade you're willing to work for in this class. I loved it. Don't buy the textbook

I took Brother Babcock for Creative Writing. There was a lot of time for writing in class, which I liked a lot. He leans more towards poetry and apparently doesn't understand how magic works in fiction. His words. Do the reading before class to be prepared for the quiz and you are golden. I loved the time spent in class writing and work-shopping.

Bro Babcock's class is based on agency. He's a pretty funny guy! There are 3 essays and a "final" essay. No tests. You'll definitely get an A if you put in the effort. DON'T BUY THE TEXTBOOK! You won't use it at all.

Brother Babcock was super funny, and listened to his students. One thing that I didn't like about him, was that he was a super tough grader and it was extremly difficult to satisfy his writing rubric.

He is GREAT! I kind of struggle with writing, but he gives good advice. You can revise all 3 essays as much as you like. Attendance isn't mandatory, but he gives good 10 minutes lectures so go to class. You just write 3 essays which are 4-5 pages long & then a final paper. He is very nice when you ask him ?'s. DON'T BUY THE BOOK!!!!

He is such a funny guy, and is definitely always willing to help you with your writing during class. Also your grade is never final, you can edit it and turn it in for another grade. But he will have you meet with his TA before he accepts it again. I believe its an easy class to get and A in if you try.

I took his Creative Writing class and found it very helpful. He's really good at acknowledging the good as well as the bad in pieces without making it personal. In this class we had textbook and sample readings, which wasn't like his foundations class. He gives the option of submitting things anonymously which I liked. Overall, a great professor.

Brother Babcock is an amazing professor. I would definitely take another one of his classes. His class is all about agency. You have all semester to work on 3 different essays and a final essay the last week of class. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE! You will pass the class If you apply his tips and tricks to your essays.

I loved this guy. His teachings are a serious contribution to the world of creative writing and English. His lectures are short, simple, and repetitive, but even they are being used as a tool to teach creativity. No other teacher has mastered this skill of teaching creativity quite like he has.

3 essays that you can revise all semester for a grade. 1-page final reflection essay. Don't procrastinate, put in a little work and it's an easy A. You don't even have to go to class. Don't read the textbook it will never be mentioned.

Loved his intro to creative writing class. Very insightful. Gave us at least half the class time to write consistently. Exams were just submitting something we had been working on. Gave us a chance to get peer reviews at the end of class by anonymously submitting pieces and being the reader of the day. 10/10 would seriously take him again.

Brother Babcock is hilarious and sweet. There's a lot of reading done, but then again it's a writing class. He lets us leave the room to write each class which is super chill. You have to meet with him at some point in the semester but that's the biggest worry in this class. 10/10 chill and educational. An inspiration to the creative spirit.

Brother Babcock is super chill, remember this class is an writing class. All you do is write essays. He is always willing to answer questions. I don't recommend taking this class on campus because all you do is write essays which you can do at your own apartment. He is pretty laid back with the work but you have to get it in on time to pass.

This class is pretty straight-forward. there are four papers required, and each of them is worth 25% of your grade. Brother Babcock is reasonable as far as grading, and in my opinion, because he is so laid back, you get out of the class as much as you put in.

This professor is one of the best I have ever had. If I were to take another class from him, I would change my schedule around just to accommodate that desire. I love Professor Babcock. You can honestly skip as much class as you want, and still get an A as long as you turn your work in on time, and meet with the TA. He has an unlimited essay revision policy, so you can really get whatever grade you want to work for in the class.

He was super fun and had great feedback. The only grades and assignments were 4 essays and each one we were able to revise and turn it in again for full credit. He is a super easy grader and gives you every opportunity to succeed. Very stress free class that was fun to take and informational as well.

Super easy class, he cares about you and making sure your writing improved throughout the semester and progress was being made. That's all that mattered for him was seeing us succeed. It's one of the few classes I felt the professor actually cared about the students in it

Had 3 essays due at the end of the semester, but could be turned in whenever and as many times as you want. You have to meet with the TA to revise to resubmit. You don't have to come to class but HELPS. Stay on top of essays and revise. DO NOT wait till the end to do essays. If you struggle to stay on top of things I would take a different class.

Brother Babcock does a great job adjusting his class to the needs of his students. Three-quarters of the way through the semester we threw out our syllabus and wrote a new one as a class to make sure we were making the most of our learning opportunity. He's awesome!

This class was heavily based around reading and participating in group discussions, which I really enjoyed. Essentially, as long as you came to class prepared and were willing to talk, you did fine. His comments were hilarious, and he was super accessible outside of class for feedback and help on the essays, which I really appreciated.

Bro Babcock is great. He is a pretty tough grader, but he allows you to redo the essays as many times as you need. I recommend meeting with the TA if you need him to regrade it, they will let you know what you need to fix.

Took this in 2021 summer session. I would HIGHLY suggest taking this course during the summer. He was so kind and willing to provide feedback. He works on an agency policy, so you do things at your own choice. Same w/ deadlines. He had set deadlines as a guideline. As long as you turned in assignments before the end of the semester, you were good.

Class was two parts: responding to written, published works and then writing (lab) time. The best days were on response days where students could give each other feedback on their written work. Brother Babcock is willing to talk to students one on one about their writing to give you encouragement on where to improve.

I genuinely enjoyed this class. Brother Babcock was very clear about his grading process and the assignments. The only assignments in the grade book are the four essays- which you have the whole semester to finish. His teaching style is very relaxed and flexible. I definitely would take one of his classes again.

This class was so easy. The grades you get are based on the 4 essays you write throughout the semester. He gives time in class to work and allows unlimited revisions. If you tend to procrastinate this format of class can be difficult because there are no harsh deadlines but if you can stay up to date this can be a great class!

I liked Brother Babcock! He is very clear on grading. 4 essays total, you can turn in the first 3 as many times as you'd like, once you turn in the Final, you're done. He teaches you how to write an excellent paper through past students. All participation is voluntary. He is huge on agency. If you procrastinate, you're doing yourself a disservice.

There are 4 total papers in this class that make up 100% of your final grade. Bro Babcock provides insight and background for your papers. There are optional readings to help on grammar and other elements of writing. He grades on a pyramid scale so the lowest possible grade you can get per essay is a 60% that you can redo twice for a better grade.
