I always looked forward to attending his class because he is a great speaker and presents history in a very clear and entertaining manner. I learned a lot. He offers extra credit and definitly has a passion for what he teaches. For anyone thinking of taking a history class try to attend one of his, you wont regret it!

Hist 101 was very well organized. He gives you a chance to take a quiz each class, but you only need to do 15 of them. If you read these tests are easy. The midterms are easy if you use his study guide. 3 midterms.

I took his history 102 & loved it. Attendance is not an issue, he actually said that it's up to the student whether you want to show up or not. All his lectures are very organized entertaining power points, including film excerpts & music . So it's easy to follow along.

Very organized and interesting. Uses his own form of powerpoint revolving around quotes, art, and video clips. Keeps your attention, but take notes on what he says, rather than simply copying his powerpoint. Tests are really not that bad as long as you study, but he know his stuff so don't try to BS him. Fair teacher and a cool guy!

If you do the reading and keep up with the online quiz's then you will do fine. He gives a decent amount of extra credit, but you have to be attending regularly to get it. Very smart and knows what he's teaching. I really enjoyed his class.

This class was by far the best history course I've ever taken! His lectures are very organized and interesting. Dr. Mooney's class was a great experience. It was a fun class for any history buff. He organized his powerpoints better than any teacher I've had, using them as a vehicle for quotes and media rather than a rigid outline of the lecture. Study a little and you'll do fine on the tests. The essays assignments were clearly explained and not too hard.

Dr. Mooney is great! I had no interest in History whatsoever and he turned that around for me! Loved the class! He's so clear and his powerpoints are loaded, but so great! He tells you all the "real" reasons why things happened. Be prepared, though, tests are all essay and he doesn't take no ****. He grades hard! Oh, and he's eye-candy! :D

Great teacher! His class is excellent, he really keeps it fresh with the perfect mix of videos, pitcures, quotes, etc. I really enjoyed attending his class. If you just do the reading and pay attention in class you should get at least a B, probably and A. I took him for 101 and enjoyed it so much I took him for 102.

easy class. all I did was go to every lecture and did the online quizez. I didnt write one word of notes and spent 20 mins on the mid terms but got C's and D's on them. I got a B in the class. I recommend him.

I took this class online. As long as you logged on, participated in the discussions, and did the work it is an easy class. He tried to make it fun by including some interesting videos and discussions.

Professor Mooney is a tough but fair grader.He is critical w/the responses put on paper or responses to his questions because he wants his students to think critically & not to take information only at face value.He has a wonderful syllabi that guides you throughout the semester & you'll learn alot from his class.I'd take his class over again.

I took 102 online. Four different 200 word responses to essays with 2 citations from the book and online due every Thursday night. That just about killed me. If you can do that every week you will get an A. The quizzes and exams are easy and the papers are very clear on what he wants. Excellent teacher, but much busy work.

FASCINATING lecturer. makes hist seem fun with primary source quotes and engaging videos. Made the civil rights movement and vietnam war so vivid i felt sick. he's really witty and sincere too. no essays and a bunch of reading, but this class was organized by Morris. Exam wasn't too much of a surprise-- he gave us the eight possible Q's beforehand.

I have taken him for the second time online. For History 100 and now History 107. He is very helpful and even though his syllabus is 20 pages long, I rather have that to reference to then a one page syllabus that doesn't answer my questions. He is very nice and grade really easily if he knows you put in the effort. I suggest taking him.

I took his online class. It was a lot of work but I enjoyed it. The good part is there are a lot of points to be had, so, if you miss one thing or two your not in the dumps. Keep up with the work and follow directions and you will do great. He is a fair grader.

He is the hardest professor I have ever had. I have taken O-chem and cell bio, and by far this class was harder. It isn't worth the 3 units. It should be changed to 5 units to be honest. Great teacher who knows what he is talking about...essay tests are insane though. Way too much prep work.

You can't b.s. your way through his class, but he's a very fair grader. Your writing projects are designed to help with the reading, but it's not an English class. This class hands down became my favorite class. He is so passionate about history and tries to make history relevant. You do not have to memorize dates. The textbook is necessary and as long as you read the 10 page chapters you should be fine. Just pay attention in class and you'll be fine.

Took his online history 102 class, and for the most part things went well. The syllabus will answer every question imaginable. He's clear on what he expects from you, so basically just do what he says and you'll pass. Basically just peer edit students essays during the week, quiz at the end of the week, and twice a semester write an essay. Easy!

Good online class. Mooney is well organized, grades promptly, replies to email quickly. Not a big fan of reviewing students essays every week, it got boring -most students write very poorly- so it was like grading english class. But, the textbook was really interesting and easy to read. This teacher is amazing! This was my first online class and I loved it! The teacher is really involved and he responds to emails quickly and is engaged in the discussions and materials. If you read the chapters and participate you get an A. This class spoiled me for online classes every online class I've had since has been a disappointment.

I took History 101 online last semester and it was a great experience. He responds quickly to emails and if you follow the syllabus its fairly easy to get a A/B in the course.

He is a great professor. He explains the material quite thoroughly and definitely knows his stuff. He uses visuals and you'll pass his class as long as you do the weekly readings, assignments, quizzes and show up to class because he does check attendance using bluebooks and attendance is part of the class participation. I absolutely recommend him.

textbook is sort of dull but lectures are somewhat interesting. He is super clear about what he expects, which is a lot. But do each post and pre lecture assignment and quizzes he grades those easy and it makes up for how hard he grades the midterm and final.

Online. Easy if you do the work. Work takes 3-4 hrs per week to complete except 2 weeks you write an essay (5-10 hrs those 2 weeks). Tests online, so use the book if needed. Marathon, marathon, marathon, you'll do great.

Do not take this class as an easy way to fufill your GE. This class is not easy. The only good thing about the class is the course outline is very clear and you know exactly what you need to be doing on each day of week. Dr. Mooney is probably the most fair professor I have ever had. He tells you exactly what you need to do to get an A and gives heaps of extra credit. You must read the textbook and do all the reading responses, quizzes, and PREPARE FOR THE ESSAYS. If you are lazy and don't want to do that then you shouldn't take the class or be in college.

I have never been as interested in History as I am with Professor Mooney. He is incredibly intelligent and interesting. His lectures are the full hour of class, but they are NEVER boring. I learn so much. The textbook he wrote is also the easiest History text to read. If you want an A, you only have to do the weekly work. There are NO surprises.

His class can be challenging with all of the work due every week. However, you learn so much and he is a great teacher and really wants you to learn the material. As long as you do all of the work, there should be no reason for you not to get an A. I loved this professor!!

I took History 100 & 101 both online. I got a C in 100 because I was not serious about the assigments but I got an A in History 101. Just do the assigments on time and seriously, read the textbook and stick to the instructions. You will get an A. It's not difficult but you do need to be serious and do the work. He is not a hard grader.

He is an organized and involved teacher who has a passion for sharing his knowledge. His teaching style is very hands on and interactive. You work with other students in class, which helps reinforce your learning.

Summer course. The online course is a lot of work, but easy to get an A+ if you do the work. The class feels more like an English class. There are two essays and weekly quizzes. The professor loves to hear his name being cited 100 times in the essay's, its very annoying. His syllabus is ridiculous. The book is easy to understand which is a plus.

After reading all his amazing reviews I thought his class would be a breeze! I am taking it online and it is one of the hardest classes I have ever taken. His text is poorly written and doesn't give a study guide to any of his tests. I wouldn't recommend this class to anyone.

I did an online class for American History and if you read every week and do good on your Quizzes that are every friday, student responses and teacher responses you will pass the class. One of the Best teachers at SBCC really well organized. Lectures are clear and to the point. He actually takes notes for you with the assistance of students. The notes and everything else you need is posted to moodle. This was an outstanding class. I wish I could take it again.

Professor Mooney has expanded my mind, historically, socially, even spiritually (if that makes sense). His classes (of which I've taken two) are so detailed that it's impossible to fail unless you don't do the work. The work is fun and interesting. This is the class that taught me how to think critically and cite evidence properly.

This class is incredibly worth taking if you are analytical and appreciate having everything you need at your fingertips. He's really done his own homework with this course. You will most likely never have to interact with the professor if you take it online, because he's laid out his course so well. I highly recommend this class.

Very clear concise layout of what is expected from day one, If you like to be stimulated intellectually then this is the class for you! Class assignments are very well structured and content is interesting and very easily understood. I've always found history to be boring but taking Prof. Mooney's HIST 102 online summer class was really interesting. Very fast pace. You write 2 papers and respond to 2 students papers each chapter(13). Expect to write a lot! Quiz on each chapter, 2 midterms, 1 final. Extra credit is given by responding to articlesvideos. Makes a lot of history really interesting and presents the material in a pretty objective manner. Allows students to form their own opinions, and the assignments require critical thinking, but are easy. If you do the homework and show up to class, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to get an A on tests/in the class. MUST have the text.

Easy class, chapters are between 10 and 25 pages and papers are only 1000 words. Read and do the work and it's an easy A. He uses google docs/drive and moodle, and it can be a bit confusing, but there are instructions that explain everything clearly. It takes a few hours, but it isn't hard work.

This class was amazing. At first I didn't like it because it's all on moodle, and you have to stay on top of assignments. But Mooney offers a lot of extra during the semester. If you read the text every week and do the extra credit you will get and A. The online exam was a little tough, but the multiple choice was easy I got 50/50 on the final.

Mooney is such an awesome professor! Everything is online and he gives the most thorough instructions and feedback so you're never confused. You do have to read, but he makes the class really enjoyable. Attendance isn't mandatory but it's helpful if you go. You have the same assignments every week and they're easy if you do the reading.

You must get the book to pass this class. It is the only way you can learn in this class. Every week there is a different topic, and you have to write an answer to a question he asks, write a reply of a student's answer, and reply to another question he asks you. Don't put the reading off till the night before you have to answer the question.

Mooney is a great teacher. His class is laid out very well. His textbook has great material in it that you can learn a lot from. Essential questions each week make the class interesting. Lectures are insightful and bias-free.

Mr. Mooney's class is fairly simple. All you do is a quick, weekly five question quiz, then you go to class and learn the information more deep. Midterm and final are fairly simple and you know the questions beforehand. His lectures are interesting and thought provoking, however you can tell how much he loves his lectures.

I loved this class. Mooney is a very adept professor at the online education game. The textbook (he wrote it) is short--200 pages but you have to read it. He has no exams, but you have to write--three or four assignments a week. The papers are helpful and make you think. He gives very prompt feedback. I learned a lot about history and writing.

I took his hybrid class (1/2 online 1/2 in class) and we had two assignments due online each week which you must read a chapter in his textbook for and as long as you attempt to get the write answer to the given question, you will get full points. **If you don't try and don't care, you won't pass** Midterm and final were both easy essays.

Class is easy if you take time during the week to do the work give. He does a system of giving a question out for you to answer depending on the first letter of your last name, then you would have to review someone else answer who doesn't have the same question as you and last he gives you another question to answer. Its easy if you try.

Professor Mooney requires students to read and follow his directions carefully. If you do, you will get an "A". This is a great class and really interesting to learn about history - which is something I never thought possible before. There is a lot of reading but once you get used to the routine, it is very manageable. Just follow the instructions!

Mooney is, single-handedly, the reason I once again fell in love with history. A love slowly destroyed in high school left me convinced that when I took US History 101 for the credit, I'd hate it. But he was passionate, dedicated, and I loved his class so much I took US History 102 just to learn more from him. Truly a great, and very chill, guy.

It took awhile to get the hang of his very particular setup but once I did it made the class so much easier. There is a lot of reading and writing involved so I honestly dont recommend taking the class if you cant dedicate the time to it. Once you get the hang of it, as long as you do the work, the class is easy.

Professor Mooney's online history course was very clearly laid out and really easy to follow. You know when all your stuff is do, nothing changes. Fast feedback on assignments and very eager to help and leaves comments on your work. Writing is often but low amounts (200-250words). HE ASSIGNS NO TESTS!!! Professor Mooney is a great instructor he really knows his material and is very organized. I enjoyed how he gave access to an audio lecture after every class and it helped tremendously when I was absent or when I just wanted to review the material again at home. I got a D in APUSH. Since that semester I thought I was doomed to pass any history class. When I signed up for Mooney's online class and saw it was "13-14 hours of work per week" I nearly had a heart attack. Happy to say I just ended the semester with 101.67%. Follow the directions carefully and stay on top of due dates and you will be fine!

Not an easy A but this class is worth it. Dr. Mooney gives very clear expectations and he provides good feedback. Make sure that you follow the directions and you should get an A. His textbook has all the answers for the essential questions. This course is intense, but I enjoyed it. Would recommend it.

This is a really hard class! I took his online HIST 101 class and you have 6 papers due each week. There 250 words but you have to cite a million sources in each one. A lot of work for a history class. He grades fairly easy but still do not take this class if you are trying to get an A.

Best teacher at SBCC by far. An amazing professor who grades all your work within 24 hours even if you submit it on Saturday. Easy A if you do the work and he grades fairly easy. He cares about his students and gives feedback on every assignment.

Took this class Summer I 2019. Very organized online class. Responds quickly to messages. Be ready to spend HOURS reading and writing. Pretty easy grader, gives you points for your paper as long as you follow the criteria. NO TEST AND QUIZZES! TIP: GET PDF BOOK so you could bookmark + find things easier. That saved me SO MUCH TIME!

He grades things and responds quickly even on the weekends and leaves good feedback on writing assignments. I really liked him, but it was a decent amount of work.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed professor Mooney and his class. Absolutely be prepared to read, however, the reading is not boring and easy to follow. I genuinely learned a lot about history through his class which was really cool. He's very smart and very approachable. I got an A in the class but I definitely had to work for it.

American History Online. This class was the most ideal and competent online course I've ever taken. Once you figure out how it works you got it, it's the same exact thing every week. No tests, no quizzes, no papers. Read the chapter answer three questions a week 250 words each, footnotes and citing sources. Professor Mooney is awesome.

If you have to take history or are thinking about taking history, TAKE HIM! History has always been my least favorite subject because frankly I am not the brightest at History. However, after taking this class, I am going to miss Professor Mooney so much and dare I say it, I'm going to miss learning history too.

Mooney's grading criteria is clear and I knew exactly how many points I needed and when turn submit assignments in to get an A. If you mess up, he always leaves a detailed comment to help you improve the next time, and messing up won't tank your grade

The most organized professor I have ever had. Outlines every single detail for all the assignments in google docs. The course load seems intense in the beginning however after the first week, everything is so much more manageable and easy to follow. Textbook is written by Professor Mooney and is enjoyable and easy to read. Phenomenal class!!

Took online class over summer and it was awesome. Gives 20 extra buffer points and although there is a lot of writing, the responses are only 250-50 words so it's easy to complete. 100% recommend this class.

Mooney was my favorite history teacher of all time. He is very passionate about his class and his student's success. You have to do your homework and read some of textbook to pass, but no tests or essays! Very enjoyable and very knowledgable, I learned a lot. I hope to take one of his history classes in person one day!

Took his course during the summer and it was fine for the most part. The assignments got a little bit repetitive but he is very adamant in what he is looking for. Very accessible and yeaaaaaa not too much to sat.

His history class is very mind-opening. You have to read the book every week to be able to learn the materials. You have to writ about 250 words for 3 discussions very week but its easy A if you put in the work. Overall the Professor Mooney is one of the most organized and thoughtful online professors I have had.

Mooney makes it super clear exactly what he wants from you. You do have to read the textbook a lot, but its roughly one chapter a week with the longest chapter being 20 pages roughly. Buffer points. No quizzes or tests.

Mr Mooney cares about the class, subject, and student very much. He wrote the textbook himself and grades super quickly. Can text him anytime, we do the same three assignments every week w/ a few extra things throughout the semester. No finals. Recommend. The textbook is also pretty interesting but takes a lot of time to read. Still, take the class

I took Professor Mooney's class in the summer of 2019, and it was great! Even though I was traveling in Europe, I finished the class with well over 100%. He wrote his own textbook, which at first is difficult to read, but after highlighting and taking notes, I really got a hang of it. The textbook is absolutely essential, as without it, no pass.

This was my first time learning about American history and I found it to be very interesting thanks to Mooney. There are no tests, midterm, or final just weak assignments to do. The first week I wanted to drop his class because it seemed hard and a lot of work, however, I´m so glad I didn´t. I learned and remember a lot from this class.

There are no quizzes or tests or anything like that, but this class is reading and writing HEAVY. Every week (this applies to HIST101 and 102) you read a chapter (sometimes 2) and write a 250-350 answer to an essential question. Then, you write another 250-250 word response, reviewing another student's answer. Then you write another 250-350 paper.

Took his summer class at the same time as a Calc class. Lots of reading, and six 250+ papers per week. He offers buffer points and is understanding with personal hardships. If you manage your time, (I spent total 12 hrs/wk) you will get an easy A. Just do the reading, and you'll be fine. He's so nice and a dedicated teacher! Take him if you can!!

I took Dr. Mooney's 8-week HIST102 this past semester and I thought it was going to be tough but once I got the hang of his grading criteria it became much easier!. Definitely get ready to read and write. No tests or papers at all!!! Overall I would 100% take his class again.

Mr. Mooney makes learning History interesting and rewarding. I received a grade score above 100 percent. I do like to read and write, and that is basically the entirety of this course. The best part is there are no test ! If you follow his well organized structure, read the assigned readings, and attend the lectures, then you will succeed.

The amount of effort you put in this class will definitely determine your grade. Dr. Mooney is a really great professor and gives good feedback on every assignment. He is extremely understanding if an extension on an assignment is needed, just expects you to communicate it to him. Overall, a really great professor!

Professor Mooney is honestly one of the best professors I have had in an online class. He Is very clear with his instructions and although there is a lot of reading, he makes it so easy to succeed. Very frequent readings, but not an absurdly harsh grader. Definitely can succeed if you do the work.

Took this course online and he was amazing at teaching online. Instructions were very clear and there was no confusion about the grading process, the assignments, or due dates. He sends lots of notifications through canvas though which can seem a tad overwhelming.

This professor is great and is always on top of grading and answering emails. If you submit something he always will have it graded within about 12 hours.

The most well-structured class I have ever taken. Professor Mooney does an outstanding job with all assignments, and they are tailored for each student. ZERO tests or quizzes. As long as you're able to construct a decent, short essay (~300 words) every week, and can manage your time well, this class is an easy A. The way this class is structured is you write 3 short essays, based on the assigned chapter and your classmates work, every week. If you're unable to turn your work in on time, he offers extension forms.

If you need to fulfill your history requirements, TAKE THIS CLASS! Professor Mooney has extremely clear grading criteria. As long as you follow the requirements and do the work, you will earn an A in this class. Good class for people with academic anxiety since he throws no curveballs as long as you keep up with the assignments, you will succeed.

I took his asynchronous summer course. Textbook is necessary for every assignment and there's a lot of reading but I would still recommend this class. I generally don't like history class but I enjoyed this one. His class is extremely well-structured and as long as you follow the criteria, you'll get an A. Also gives feedback and extra credit.

I finished the class with over 100% in both 101 and 102. Fire professor if you aren't lazy and are willing to actually turn things in. Mooney has very straightforward grading criteria. As long as you meet the requirements and do the assignments, you've got an A. If you've got academic anxiety, take this class. Super straightforward + extra credit!

take advantage of the extra credit opportunities in this class. take good notes during class meetings, and while you read the assigned pages in the textbook. putting in a lot of time and effort will make a huge difference for your success in this class.

I haven't had a more caring professor. I explained my situation & he was incredibly accommodating. His lectures are interesting. it's easy to do well, do the readings & assignments. My grade is the result of issues on my on behalf but trust me he is amazing. I never give ratings but he went above and beyond my expectations. Ask for help & he will!

Mooney is one of the best professors at SBCC! His assignments are super straight forward and there's so many extra credit opportunities. Sometimes the assignments can feel repetitive but the content is great and I learned so much! I really recommend taking this class.

Dr. Mooney's online class has a specific ruleset that seems overwhelming at first, but once you get it down to your weekly routine, it became an easy A for you. He's also super open to communication, even providing his phone number to all the students at the start of the class. The most important things are time management and self-discipline.

He has a very specific outline for what you need to do to be successful in the class but if you read all the material and the syllabus you'll be fine. There is a lot of reading and writing but his discussions were interesting and were helpful to get your assignments done. I almost dropped it but theres just a large learning curve. Overall great.

Great class if you're willing to put in the work. Lots of reading but manageable essays. Use unstuckstudy and other study tools to stay on top of it. Professor is understanding and responsive. Overall, an enjoyable and rewarding experience.

Mr. Mooney is very clear in his expectations in the class, he always responds to assignments and emails within 24 hours which I appreciate. There is extra credit offered with every assignment and there is ample amount of time to complete assignments each week.

You need to read a lot but the assignments themselves are very self-explanatory, they're in the same format every week so you'll get used to it quickly. He replies to phone messages fast but sometimes his answers can be quite vague. He is extremely generous with grading and gives extra credits for every assignment as long as you follow instructions

Great professor and a even greater person! I had to drop for personal reasons, but if you need to take a history class, take this one. Definitely buy into his teaching methods and you will learn a lot, and have some fun doing it

TAKE THIS CLASS. Such an amazing professor, wrote the textbook himself and his own videos. I took this class online and he genuinely made me learn so much and think deeper about what I know. Very doable workload and super organized class. Same format of work every week. He takes late work and has a lot of extra credit. No exams or papers.

very easy class. if you have any questions you can ask him he will respond, sometimes a few days but always he will respond. always accomodates extra students, I joined late and he extended all the missed assignments a few weeks. you can choose how long to extend, he will accomodate. easiest class and most understanding I have had from a class ever

I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Mooney's online history course. He leaves great feedback and always leaves comments. He emails between 12-1am to say that he has graded all the homework submitted by midnight. I find it amazing how much he dedicates his time to his students. He even prefers to communicate with text so he can reply more quickly.

I was stressed with how much work we had at first, but overtime I realized how much he really cares about the subject and how much I was learning. It's a lot of reading, but you can get away with just finding what you need. Mooney is such an understanding professor, and you can get extra credit on every assignment if you turn it in early!

I took history 101 and 102, he is really fast at responding and super helpful. He gives extensions no questions asked and he does give a lot of work but the work is easy. Definitely take this class!

Took this class for a GE requirement. Not the most enthusiastic about history but Dr. Mooney made learning fun! I would absolutely recommend this class to anyone thinking about signing up!
