He is with experience
One of the best prof. makes class very interesting
knowledgable, gives essay questions out b4 the test, 4 homeworks, no attendance
Very knowledgeable, interesting, one of the best Professors at Pace
Explains in great detail - shows interesting video clips
Take him if you are interested in finance
Great prof! He knows his stuff- learn a lot, exams are fair
Good prof., grades depend on your standing in class, so find a dumb class!
Listen to his lectures and do the hw. Not boring. Very knowledgeable
highly recommended very clear helpful and cool about everything, very intelligen
great man. very interesting, helpful. clarity to the fullest extent
awesome professor...explains well
No Comments
He is awesome. If youwanna know finance take him. He is not extremely easy, but
Well selected texts, cares about the topics.
most excellent professor, he is really there for his students
Best teacher I've had at Pace so far, heavy workload though.
my favorite professor = )
He is a great professor. You could learn a lot about finance. Take Him
One of Pace's best professors. Don't miss a chance to take his class.
Excellent professor, Study notes and essay q's and you'll get an A, Learn a lot!
okay, doens't curve. nice, though
he contradicts himself in class. all the notes are wrong. tests are wierd.
Did not like him. Not what I expected. Not great at all.
respect students who respect him.have to buy book AND course packet $$$$$$$$$$$
No good at all, confusing, doesn't explain concepts well, hw too long
he is ok, contradicting notes. never know whats right. get annoyed easily.
participation25%, Discussion25%, weeklypaper25%, final exam25%, You can decide.
Best professor ever. I think poeple complaining about notes have no idea what they are talking about.
He's a great professor. Love the class structure as it encourages student participation and minimizes the chance of long boring lecture. While there is lots of reading, I found the assigned readings to be educational and thought provoking.
If u are a Fin major take him. He has soo much experience. You ll love this class
Best professor ever! Learn a lot, very helpful and clear. A+++++
In this seminar course he failed to stimulate the class into staying awake. He just can't lecture. He kept complaining no one was participating. While there was only one person participating all semester and he did'nt even give that person an A
Nice guy. His course actually requires thinking so some might not like it or find it confusing. Not an easy class. His lectures helped me understand real-world finance, not just how to do math problems.
Awesome professor, not easy but you'll do well if you study A WHOLE LOT. The very best in finance, and the one to take.
Not very patient
Knows his stuff. Definitely read the material assigned. Very helpful. He is impatient at times though.
Nice guy. Class is as interesting as a finance class can get. Not as in depth as other finance classes.
Not too bad...hes real into it
Very good professor. I learned a lot! Take him if you want to learn.
Ok, this guy LOVES his job. His classes are long. He makes full use of his time. He tries to be flexible with the exams. I did not get a good grade, but then again....I really did not put in the work. So if you don't like to do a lot....AVOID him. I just hate FINANCE
Nice enough, boring, impatient, knowlegeable
He's a very good professor. exams are fair, half essey (which he gives in class before the exam) and half problems, which he goes over in class before the exam, just changes them slightly. If you do his HWs, you'll do GREAT.
Bottom line; if you're not a finance major - take Morey, he will take it easy on you. but for all the finance aspiring people out there - you won't be rewarded for extra knowledge brought into the class. Easy way out of Fin 301 - yes. Rewarding - no.
Nice guy and tests are not that hard. However, do not ask him any questions!Get's offended and doesnt answer.Came out with a much lower grade than i expected.
Boring, rude and impatient. Tests are easy but there are lots of readings to do.
I loved him! The best professor to take for 301. He's very helpful and his tests are easy as long as you go to class and take notes. I learned a lot in this class and wasn't even interested in Finance before I took it.
This class is cake, simple fundamentals.
Really good prof. He gives a lot of readings but it's worth it. If your a finance major, try and take someone more challenging...he's maybe too easy. If you're not a finance major, he's a must take! Easy tests and an overall good prof.
Very knowledgable prof. apparently loves everything finance. answers every question you have and very helpful. 4 hmwks, 2 tests and i final. don't feel like its too much work though as they're not too hard. definitely take him if you can!
This guy is the best. He's so smart, and will answer any questions you have. 4 HW's + 2 tests. Not so much work, easy stuff. No text book, he writes up notes for you! it's exactly what goes on in class and whats on the test. Take him!!
The best professor ever. Very knowledgeable and teaches well. Few HW and few tests. Very clear about expectations. Makes finance interesting.
love morey. made finance interesting (!) and understandable. cool, friendly, easy-going guy, also incredibly intelligent. tells you exactly what will be on exams. do the work (a couple of homeworks) and PREPARE for exams, and you'll do well. and you'll learn.
Hands down, THE BEST PROFESSOR @ Pace! Explain everything crystal clear. Encourages questions, and asks a lot too. If you answer wrong, he explains till you understand. He makes you feel like a million bucks by the end of the semester. Love the guy, he inspired me and kept me stimulated through the whole semester. Looked forward to every class!
he's not really that easy. he gives the questions to the exam in the first day of class but you don't know how to answer them. He's a cool guy. He's nice. He makes finance interesting. But he only gave the entire class 3 A's.
One of the best teachers ever! He makes Finance very interesting. He explains everything clearly and he really wants you to do well. The exams are extremely easy as long as you prepare for them and attend every class. He really inspired me to become a Finance major. Highly Recommend!!!
Great Professor!! Easy class if you study the material, then you should get an A with no problem. Makes class so interesting that learning the material is actually fun. The best Finance professor at Pace, no doubt. Please take if seats are available, you wont regret it.
The best business professor i had so far. he explains everything so clearly that you ACTUALLY understand it. if you have questions he answers it clearly. you would think finance is boring but the way he teaches, it makes you want to major in finance, and im an accounting major. overall stick to this professor and youll do great.
better than most professors at pace. His notes aren't good though... has many spelling errors in them and a few answers in the packets are wrong too! If he fixed this I would have rated him a lot higher
Great prof! Makes the subject so interesting, shows a few movies. Tests arent hard if you understand the lectures/topics. Makes them harder towards the end. Need to put in some effort into the class and ull be fine.
Professor Morey is the closest thing I've seen to a perfect professor, and I'm a senior so I've had quite a few professors. Makes the class very interesting. Very open minded. He is not one of those professors that you'll say "he's smart but cant teach" He is both. Exams r essay format but he prepares you extremely well 4 them. Take him if possible
Great professor, the class I took he never took attendance and didn't give out any homework only five exams (some are a little difficult). He is very clear when he teaches if you just pay attention in class, try to understand the material, and ask questions you might not have to study for his hard exams. Extremely good professor, must take.
Morey is a horrible professor. His class is FINANCIAL ECONOMICS not financial management like he should be teaching. No book, 5 exams 3/4 questions each so if you get one wrong you are already at a bad score. If you don't write the answers exactly how it is on his slides you don't get credit. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS - STAY AWAY. IT WILL KILL YOUR GPA
Weak finance class. this guy loves talking about risk and corruption. exams are short. no hw. no textbook. doesn't take attendance. seemed like a pass/fail class to me. there are better finance professors out there
Morey is a Cali burnout who loves to talk about market inefficiencies and the financial crisis. No hw. Exams are all essays. You need to basically rewrite his slides on the exams. This class will NOT prepare you for the upper level finance classes. This class is behavioral finance and not financial management. Overall, TOTAL WASTE OF TIME
totally changed his way of teaching now requires a textbook which really helps, gives long hard h.w and tests are tough, although because of being a tough class i learned alot on my own
Morey is a good professor. He knows what he is talking about extremely well and teaches his students useful things that they can use in their lives, finance major or not. He gives a lot of his opinions because he takes REAL TIME factors in the economy and incorporates them into his lectures. I have the book if anyone wants to buy it. 9177443026
Good professor, VERY SMART!!! Available when ever you need to meet him. Attendance is not mandatory at all, but going to the classes does help you learn the content. Gives practice homework that have questions that are on the exams. He gives an outline for the exams and a list of the possible essay questions!!!
Take him and you'll most likely get an A if you put a small amount of work into it. Attendance is not mandatory at all, honestly I wouldn't even bother going. Just make sure you read all his slides on BB, and go to the review sessions he has, and prepare for the essays! You will come out a survivor!
ATTENDANCE IS NOW MANDATORY. He only allows 2 before losing points off final. He gives 9 HW's worth 54% of grade and 2 tests. He does give a review of all possible test questions. If you go to class and do your homework the test are not difficult. But he is VERY strict about attendance now since students in the past took advantage of him.
He really cares about attendance and participation even thou you don't know the material he expects you to know it. He reads the pp slides during class, gives hmw each week and 2 tests %50 of your grade. There is no way you can pass if you don't study well. he is trying to be fair but he is not fair. he wants you to learn. not easy A!
I e-mailed him but he never writes back.. His exams are tricky too, the contents are not on the powerpoint slides.. but rather on what he says in class (that means if you do not attend class, you will not pass the exam). Not too fair in my opinion.
Great teacher, really learned a lot. Would suggest to anyone who wants the thoroughly understand the basics of finance
I do not know how students can complain about this professor. He is enthusiastic about the material and is very good at teaching it. His exams are from his powerpoint slides and hw, he even gives a review. He even grades the HW, what prof. does that nowadays. Kind and willing to help too. Participate in the discussions, he likes that.
Excellent professor. No textbook needed, no homework assignments given anymore. Tests are based off of slides, and he gives you all possible test questions to prepare, and he selects questions from these possible ones. Not only a fair professor but also makes Finance enjoyable.
Wow best professor hands down what a class. The things I learned in this class will change my finance future forever. Thank you Professor you actually care about students. You want a typically pace class dont take him you want an easy A dont take him. But,you want to learn AND actually apply things you learn to finance take him NOW!!!
Morey is hands down one of the best finance professors at Pace, teaching it from a realistic POV. While you have to pay attention in class to pass the exams, you're doing it to learn something valuable, not to be spoon fed. He's not an easy A but take him, he will change your perspective on Finance! No attendance, no hw, 2 midterms and a final.
He's smart and experienced and makes you look at the bigger picture when it comes to finance and economics. His presentations are mostly his own notes which aren't perfectly written so it behooves one to go to class. However, you will learn and he isn't looking to kill your GPA. Excellent professor. I'd love to take him again. Studying is a must.
Do not take this class if you do not like to read every night of your life. Puts you on the spot using a random number generator to answer questions from the readings, makes participation pretty much mandatory, which seems to make a lot of students nervous. Pretty good teacher overall. Definitely passionate about the topic he is teaching.
Very good professor. Gives lots of examples relating to the real world in finance on his power points and in clipsmovies on frauds. Tests can be somewhat tricky as there might be things he would ask for from class discussions and finance movies, not just what's in the slides, but he gives us possible essay qs and practice HW probs before exam.
If you don't agree with his "theory," you will not enjoy coming to class. His way or no way.
Prof. Morey is an excellent teacher. Learned so much in his class. Encourages questions and will explain things numerous times until everyone understands. Won't go ahead until he feels everyone understands. Very clear and understandable guy. 3 tests 1 final. No homework. Go to class or you will fall behind. All in all I actually learned a lot.
Morey is so interested in finance and really knows everything needed to know. I learned a lot and he makes the subject really interesting considering I knew nothing about finance and the financial crisis. quizzes and tests are easy if you go to tutor center and study for them. only has quizzes and tests as final grade so make sure u do good!
He was a great professor, and makes it super easy to pass the class. His lectures aren't boring. If you miss class everything is on the lecture notes, but it's way better when he explains it.
Decent professor. Not someone I would take as a finance major. His classes are opinion based. Great videos to watch but he won't ask significant questions. More like what color car a certain person drove. He does make you work for your grade - but he teaches based a lot on his own opinion. Take him if you are NOT a finance major.
He's a great professor! I am not a Finance major but it's a required course for Lubin students. HE makes it a lot more enjoyable and interesting to learn. He hates grades so he curves but he wants to make sure you are learning the material.
There really is no way to fail this class if he gives you a sample of the essay questions before the exams themselves - there really, truly isn't. Even if attendance isn't mandatory, go to class, read the powerpoints, watch the videos; this is a solid way to gain an A. Brush up on your writing skills as well - most of the exams are essays.
Professor Morey is an absolute gem. He teaches finance from a real perspective. He saves you money by not requiring a text, and the class is pretty simple if you go to class, pay decent attention. If you're interested in the material, it hardly feels like a class. Also, he's a very good and understanding person.
Morey was a great professor. He is willing to help during his office hours, and his teaching style is very engaging. You always know what to expect on exams, but there's a lot of writing. He's more into behavioral finance; so if you want traditional finance, Morey may not be for you. He has a unique personality, and his passion for teaching shows.
Quite possibly the best professor I have taken at Pace. He really doesn't belong here to be honest, Pace doesn't deserve him. There is no self-learning in this class if you pay attention in class. Incredible lectures that made finance very interesting and that was his goal anyway. He often repeats material over and over again, hard to fail. )
Do not take him!!! He gives unfair treatment to his students that he likes. The class is solely based off of 6 exams that together are worth 92% of your grade. There is no textbook or tutor. Attendance is mandatory and only affects your grade if you miss class. Worst professor I've had at Pace. Unless you love exams every 2 weeks don't take him.
Literally THE BEST. That is all.
He's an easy A. He lets you skip like 6 classes and his tests are straight from PP. The study guides are long but honestly I never paid attention and skipped all the classes we were allowed to and I got a B. Would've gotten an A but I purposely didn't study for the 2 math exams because he gives automatic 50 on every exam as long as you take it.
The 5 in difficulty is for the amount of work, ten 1000 word plus essays for 60% of the grade, most tedious class I had by far. All he does in class is reading ppts which are plagiarized from the books. The exam is a 10 random questions from a 70 question selection, all essay based for 35% of the grade. Last 5% is quizzes. Try another class <3
He just talks for the whole class. His tests are hard because there isn't enough time to write over 1000 words and he grades hard. If you want to succeed you would need at least one week of studying for his tests, so if you have many other classes you would need a lot of time management. Pay a lot of attention and ask questions. Good luck.
If you go to class and do not listen to him then you won't know the specifics of things he wants in exams. Professor Morey is a real gem among all the Lubin finance professors, so far the greatest I have had. He offers a unique perspective and is so knowledgeable so he expects the same from his students. No mediocre work or effort will get you an A
Initially took Finance 260 with another high rated professor but it didn't click so I dropped it and decided to take it later. Morey was great from the start. Lectures can be a bit boring but he tries to make them interesting and does give some fun examples. Plus he'll try to break up the lectures with videos. Tests weren't too bad either.
Professor Morey's class was one of the few that has made college worth it so far. He is genuinely passionate about his lessons, and willing to explain anything until his students reach a practical level of comprehension. He makes finance sound as relevant and interesting as it apparently is. Attendance isn't mandatory, but really helps with exams.
Best professor I've ever had. Amazing lecturer, class is very discussion-focused. Makes sure you really understand. Great stories, super intelligent, very accessible, very caring. Do the work and make an effort and you'll be set. Slack off and avoid participating and he'll notice. No actual textbook but 3 books to read throughout the semester.
Just reread the lectures and that's where the hw answers are. Test is ok but what matters is the hw which are 12% of the grade.
loved him! i dreaded taking finance but he made it easier than i could ever imagine. gives several hw assignments throughout the semester but it is exactly what he talks about in class (i do the hw during class). he is happy to see students in his office hours. could not recommend him enough. show up, do the work, and you should get an A
Students have 4 HWs, and 2 exams (one midterm & final). The HWs are around 35 questions with long and short answer responses needed. The lectures are recorded, attendance is NOT mandatory. He gives PPT slides and you can watch his lecture videos to do the HW. *NO TEXTBOOK! He's a good teacher, what you put in is what you get. I could've done more.
Get ready to write a lot, but you'll learn lots. Clearly passionate about what he's teaching, which is a marked change from many professors at Pace. Great guy and easy take-home final that's just like the homeworks but with longer answers.
He tries, but he's just not the best at teaching. Much of his class is just him rambling while going through slides. The slides aren't much help when trying to study. Homework every week, with some having questions from 2 hr long movies. His explanation of the math isn't good either. Exams are extremely difficult. Excepted better b/c of other rates
A menace to society. Went to class expecting to learn finance, but instead was made to listen to a man ramble about the 2008 crash with use of vague slides. His homework grading isn't fair since he only grades 3 questions. His test are extremely difficult, mainly because his teaching is terrible. DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR YOUR FIRST FINANCE CLASS, or any
Idk how he has a good overall rating. I honestly think he wrote them himself, because they are all false. His teaching method is terrible. You'd get more out of just reading things online than from him. He should definitely not teach FIN 260 and should just stick to behavioral finance.
Prof. Morey is a true gem. I loved how he made the lectures so easy and interesting to learn finance. He doesn't include a lot of math like other fin classes. He gives a review sheet for each exam with around 30 possible questions, 10 of them are in the exam. So basically just study & memorize the questions and you are set for the exam. Take him!!
Professor Morey only gives 8 homeworks a semester that are pretty lengthy but are basically the questions for the midterm and final. He lectures for majority of class but is usually interesting, the class is content heavy but not math heavy, and midterm and final arent terrible if you do well on the homework and study his review questions.
I took him because my adviser said he is one of the best at Pace. He is boring and just rambles on and on. I got a good grade, but did not learn anything useful about finance.
This is the second class I took from Morey, and it was a pleasure. The guy knows his stuff! He writes his own materials so you don't have to buy a textbook. Lectures are beefy but he gives homework answers. You have to do the readings to follow along. He memorizes everyone in the class's names and tries to get to know you. Great guy, great prof.
Do not take this class if you want a good grade. Good at teaching, but even if you get everything right on the homework, you cannot get above a 95. He grades the homework super hard and is not flexible at all. Even if you get the answer correct, he grades more on how much "effort" he thinks you put in. Get ready to spend 6+ hours on this class.
Only 10 HWs and 1 final. HWs need to be THOROUGH for answers. He gives feedback on HW and has office hours (sometimes different from syllabus/random). You can tell he makes his material/PPTs. The only thing is he only gives 95s max (never 100s) so you need to be on top of your HW grades. As an asynch student, go to office hours and it helps a lot.
Professor Morey is extremely knowledgable, experienced, and genuinely passionate about finance. The course is very content-heavy but if you read the assigned books and pay attention, you'll do well. He cares about his students and sincerely wants everyone to get something out of his course.
Very passionate about finance and teaches important topics. He is a tough grader and you need to know ALL the content inside and out to succeed, but topics are worth knowing (interesting). no homework, all exams and attendance, and his study guides are lengthy. worth taking him, one of the most passionate at Pace and is very knowledgeable/smart.
Morey is a passionate finance prof who makes the material engaging. Tough grader - need to know all content to succeed. No homework, just exams and attendance. Unstuck ai was a lifesaver for preparing. Worth the challenge.
Prof. Morey is an amazing finance professor and actually makes the topic interesting. He does not use a textbook and cares more about students understanding how finance works than just learning formulas. He is a tough grader, so study his slideshows and review what he goes over in class. No homework, but there are quizzes almost every class.
The class itself was understandable and fairly easy, and I did enjoy having an open-note final. That said, grading was frustrating. Online, a 95 was treated as “perfect,” which made it nearly impossible to earn higher than an A-. The material was fine, but the grading scale felt unnecessarily restrictive and detracted from the experience.
