He was a very good teacher, but tough grader. Doesn't believe in grades which makes it difficult if you are concerned about what you might get in the class. The test and quizzes are fairly easy as long as you pay attention.
everything that you will be tested on is gone over in class and is based on reading. easy a if you put in a little bit of effort. Very thoughtful of students and knows allot about what hes teaching. would highly recommend taking this class whether for credits or interest.
Really enthusiastic about his teaching, gets the class involved, and ready to provide helpful insight for anyone who's stuck. If you talk to him during his office hours he's extremely helpful. Would recommend his PHIL M05 class, makes you rethink controversial issues and develop new point of views.
Really takes the time to make sure all students are on the same page if a topic is not clear. Very interesting class and is a little bit tough but worth the time! There is a good amount of reading and he does random reading checks but all in good measure. Easy to get a hold of out side of class by email. Also good with his office hours!
He's been a pleasure to take a course from. He's committed to making sure everyone grasps concepts before moving on to new subject matter and will spend time answering questions. He assigns a reasonable amount of homework and his quizzes and tests are hard, but not overly so if you attend class and do the readings. You can tell he enjoys teaching.
One of the best professors at Moorpark! His teaching philosophy is amazing; he truly does want his students to succeed. He's such an inspiration and has really influenced me, especially outside of class. He's extremely fun and relatable, always understanding of his students. He's such a great person to talk to! Take his class; you won't regret it!
My favorite professor at Moorpark. The books we read were extremely interesting & his lectures were never boring. Improves your writing skills significantly, encourages participation, has really good views on things, positive etc. There's a lot of writing in this class but if you show up and do all of your assignments you'll do great!
What a boss! If you want to become a better student and learn with a professor who cares about your success, take this guy!
I had trouble in the beginning of the semester and he pulled me aside and worked with me to instruct and encourage my study habits to get a better grade. Amazing teacher who cares about his students
Where do I even begin? The most intelligent, down to earth, genuine, and coolest person you will ever meet. Very funny too. More than willing to explain something until everyone understands. Interesting books as well. The class is challenging sometimes, but it is definitely worth the time. If you get a chance, take him.
Probably one of the best teachers at Moorpark. Show up and copy everything he writes on the board, because all of those notes will be the questions for the tests and quizzes. Attendance is the best way to make the grade.
Took him for intro to Philosophy first semester, beautifully explained concepts to the class in a way that's not only intelligent and inspirational, but also comical. Fist semester ended and I had to take him again so hopped into his intro to logic class. Not as much of a fan of this class but it was worth my time to be taught by Matthew Morgan.
Took him for intro to logic and he is a FABULOUS teacher. Once you understand the material, its super easy and he will also take extra time to explain things if you don't get it. He also makes class funny, but make sure you aren't late. Definitely would take him again but my major isn't philosphy! :(
Matthew is very approachable and works hard to create a great atmosphere for learning. He really appreciates students showing up and being on time. Show up, pay attention, and you will do just fine in this class. He makes sure that students understand the material before moving on.
Fantastic professor. Professor Morgan clearly cares about the quality of education he is providing. His classes (logic at least) are focused on the class working together to learn the material instead of him simply lecturing to you. His class is not necessarily easy, but if you come to class and pay attention (it's hard not to), you will pass.
I loved Professor Morgan. He's a really great teacher and explains everything so clearly. It was kind of a strange class (basically math with letters), but I actually thought it was really fun, and Professor Morgan is hilarious so he always kept it interesting. I highly recommend him!
Matthew is the best professor I've had a Moorpark he explains everything very clearly and I would take him again if he had the same schedule I needed . HIGHLY RECOMMEND. there is homework but it really helps you understand the material more for the quizzes and exams. two pop quizzes.
Mr. Morgan is AWESOME! He thoroughly explains everything in great detail & will explain it again if you do not understand so always ask for clarification if you don't understand something. Attend every class, take notes & do all assigned homework & you'll do great. He makes everything fun. I wish I could take him again. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Take this professor! Great guy. You read 20 pages a day which isn't too bad if you keep up on it. I heard he was a tough essay grader so I definitely put a lot of effort into my essays but got A's on both. Put in effort and you'll do fine. Nice (and funny) guy. Very helpful. Definitely will take him again if I can.
Professor Morgan is awesome! He is so funny and explains things very clearly. This was intro to logic so not quite the most interesting class, but he made it fun and easy. He gives great feedback and as long as you do the short homework assignments, show up to class, and ask questions when you don't get something you'll get an A.
Matthew is the nicest guy, when you're around him you can sense how kind his soul is. He cares about his students and makes his lectures interesting and understandable. However, the subject can be tough and requires a lot of reading and thinking. I had to dedicate a lot of time to my papers, but hey thats college! just be prepared to work.
Matthew Morgan is awesome! A class like Logic needs a good teacher & he is definitely the perfect teacher. He will take the time to explain concepts until it is understood by everyone. He is engaging & respectable. You must do the homework (which isn't usually alot) & his tests/quizzes are based only on what he teaches. 10/10 RECOMMEND.
awesome teacher, great way to start the day. up beat, keeps the class interested and if u need help, he will be there to guide the way
This guy is amazing. Take him for any class. Makes good and bad jokes every class. clear on all material. Tests are str8 forward. Treats people with respect. reg home work. one take home quiz. Final not cumulative. responds to emails. "I've been working on that joke all weekend, come on guys. You gotta admit that's pretty good." - Matthew Morgan
He's a great teacher, I would definitely take him again. Class is fairly easy as long as you pay attention and do the homework. Ask questions if you have them, he will always be sure to help. Half way through the semester he posted the lectures he uses for his online class and they help a lot as well.
If you plan on taking a philosophy class and see Matthew Morgan as the professor then TAKE THE CLASS. You actually get interested with the class and actually learn something. He's hilarious and very kind, and makes class fun. Very helpful and eager to answer questions. You obviously need to know the material to pass, but you will learn. Guaranteed!
He is an awesome guy and a great professor. He made philosophy super interesting and fun. The class was nice however it was pretty difficult. You really have to know the subject and what is going on in every point of the books we read to do well. However, I did learn a lot from him and his class. There is one quiz, two tests, and two essays.
This was the hardest class I have ever taken, but he did his best to help everyone who was struggling, like me. He also posted his lectures online, which was so helpful! He is sympathetic and he does all he can to help people understand what can be hard concepts. He also tells lots of jokes that are so bad you laugh against your will!
I'm in is Logic class, he's a really solid choice. He participates in student discussions and exams are pretty reasonable if you watch his videos and do the homework. He replies to emails within a day (except sundays)
Mr Morgan is a pretty good professor. Definitely a chill guy. His lectures are clear, and he uses easy to understand examples. Write down whatever he writes on the whiteboard and you'll be in good shape. Also, bring jokes/puns to class, because he's running low and needs some more.
Matthew Morgan is one of the best teachers I have had in college so far. His lectures were the best and also hilarious (bloopers). He explains everything in his lectures. If you watch them and understand them, you are peachy. Having said that, the class is not easy. Math oriented, so if you hate math, don't take it. Im going to miss this class!!
Cool young professor, very nice and understanding. Easy grade just do the work same old same old. You do have to buy some old books but shouldn't be too difficult, just write down what he writes on the board during lectures then re-write those notes and boom that's every test. Also the 2 papers are pretty easy, just get sources.
Dr. Morgan answers all questions. He has an uplifting attitude, and wants everyone to succeed. That said, the work is demanding. He made Symbolic Logic as clear as possible. He divided the class into philosophy majors, math majors, and CS majors, and adjusted his teaching style as necessary. Excellent instructor. Available for office hours.
Use the YouTube videos he has online for extra help. Do extra problems in the book, as M09 students are over-achievers.
Listen he's one of the best teachers I've had. First off he's hilarious, be prepared for a corny joke at the beginning of each class. He genuinely cares about his students understanding the concepts and will adjust his teaching style to suit the student he is explaining it to; DO NOT hesitate to ask questions he'll make sure you understand.
Prof. Morgan is so great! He handles a class environment very well. And please just enjoy his jokes. Trust me. It hurts him when no one laughs. And he will tell you it hurts him, ha. He respects the students who respect him and he is fair with grading and attendance. He has videos for nearly all of his Logic material if you are struggling.
Overall pretty good professor, very funny, easy to understand, very patient with students, easy to learn from; he makes philosophy less of a head ache. Take good notes, the test are based off the notes, but he does make you memorize page numbers and quotes and lines that are on certain pages. (pointless, but whatever.) DO NOT MISS CLASS.
You will read several very dense philosophy books and "translate" what the author is saying as you go along. There is little to no actual class discussion of concepts from the text, which seems to defeat the purpose of philosophy class. Everyone felt completely unprepared for the research papers as the guidelines were incredibly vague.
Professor Morgan is hands down the greatest professor you will ever have in college. This is my 2nd time taking him. He knows what he is talking about and makes it super easy to follow along. Tests are easy as long as you do the HW. Also, he makes daily puns to start off every class. 100% recommend
He's a really cool guy but this class is hard. Much harder than it has to be. He's funny and super nice but you can tell he loves philosophy and takes it super seriously. The thing is that no one else really loves philosophy as much as him so an A in this class isn't easy.
Although philosophy is not my strongest suit, Professor Morgan is very enthusiastic about philosophy and makes it interesting. Take notes of everything he puts on the board and study everything on the study exams he gives you and you will be fine. The hardest part of the class will be the papers; they really make you think.
I have never loved a professor more. He was wonderfully knowledgeable-- without being prideful-- and if someone didn't understand a concept he would truly try to help them. He was also engaging and incredibly passionate. His dad jokes are terrible, but I could not recommend taking Matthew Morgan any higher.
Took his online logic course. The subject itself is hard. You really have to put time into studying the material/ watching the lectures/taking notes. Proff Morgan went above and beyond to make sure his students understood the lectures. He was fast to respond to e-mails and was a fair grader. Can't say enough good things about him.
Mr. Morgan does an awesome job with the online lectures. He's involved in the weekly posts and makes sure to reply to almost all of them. If there was a discrepancy with the online system grading, send him an email and he'll correct it To pass study the material, watch the online lectures, take notes and I highly recommend flash cards.
I took Prof. Morgan for phil M01 and M09 and both classes were some of the most fun I've ever had. Morgan is as good of a prof as you'll find anywhere. Lectures are always clear and concise, everything is presented in a way that's easily understandable and the class is always peppered with bad jokes both relating to the material and just for fun
The guy is a gem. Anyone turning the man down as a professor I think is making a vast mistake.
Mr. Morgan is a great professor. I took Logic M07 in class this Fall. He has great lectures on Canvas. If you watch them, then go to class you will be prepared. This class is great for those who like Math. Mr. Morgan works very hard and answers every question you may have. He is very caring and FUNNY
Easy A. Clear grading. E/C opportunities. Pay attention, do the homework for practice. Quizzes are like practice tests. Participation is counted. Sign in sheet. 2 tests, 3 quizzes, final is not cumulative. 2 pop quizzes. All memorization. He is a very funny guy, always does a joke of the day. A lot of dad jokes, but they were all hilarious.
Matthew Morgan is probably my favorite teacher at Moorpark. He is very caring about his students, and he makes class super fun to go to. This man is hilarious. The class is easy, just read your notes for the tests. The two papers can be challenging, but if you put in a decent amount of effort, you should be fine. TAKE THIS CLASS!!! Will not regret.
Matthew is a great professor in the sense that he knows what he's talking about. There's reading assigned every single class period as homework. Discussions every class period on what we read the previous night. Two papers, two tests & a quiz. He is a very meticulous grader & is very specific about what he wants, and unnecessarily takes off points.
Profesor Morgan is really caring and genuinely wants you to pass his class. Every morning when class starts he starts his class off with jokes so be prepared to laugh. There are two essays you'll write in his class, a mid-term and final end of the year essay. They are not too bad but make sure to not procrastinate and wait till the last minute.
This was my first philosophy class, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Teacher was mellow and kinda funny. Fairly easy, just do the work. Interesting material, especially towards the end when we discussed controversial topics. Definitely glad I took the class.
Morgan is hilarious, and his class is always fun to be in. You do have quite a bit of reading and writing to do in this class, but it's still a good time overall.
I took Professor Morgan for a 4-week online summer logic class. The class was a breeze and interesting too. Professor Morgan provided excellent feedback via email and the discussion boards.
Matthew is an amazing professor. Be sure to read a head of class otherwise you will be completely lost during lectures. Three tests and two essays. If you read and took good notes tests are super easy, while the essays are open topic he is more than willing to talk to you about your essay.
Matthew Morgan is hilarious. He tells a different pun related joke in the beginning of classes and all in all is a very nice teacher. He's compassionate and isn't afraid to give a meaningful point of view on the subject to flip our understanding.
This was one of my favorite classes. The material was difficult, but Professor Morgan's video lectures made everything easy to understand. I plan to take another class with him next semester. Intro to Logic was truly an engaging class, and I'm sad that it's over.
Great intro class, super slow pace but thorough. Open-topic papers, one short one long. Matthew is a great guy and an understanding teacher. You will likely have to participate but talk to him if you struggle with anxiety and he will accommodate. Very few quizzes and all straight from the notes.
Matthew is one of my favorite professors at Moorpark. He gives a lot of reading but his class is not difficult whatsoever as long as you keep up with the reading and show up to class. You can fall behind if you miss class but his lectures are so interesting so I never wanted to miss it! There was 1 quiz, 2 exams, 1 short paper, and 1 long paper.
Super chill. No homework ever. 2 essays. A little tricky but he isnt a harsh grader. 2 tests. Just pay attention and you will easily pass.
I took PHIL M07 over English M01B, and I am so happy I made that decision. It was such an interesting and rewarding class, and professor Morgan is the best professor I have ever had. Even though it was an online class, he was constantly engaging with students in the discussion posts. He really wants you to understand the concepts and do well.
Prof. Morgan is great. I'm back to school after 15 years - had no idea that this Intro Logics Class would be this tricky but his lectures and feedback makes you want to work hard. He gets back to you via the discussion boards or email right away during his working hours. I chose this pre-req class blind but glad I did. He's awesome online.
Matthew Morgan is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He cares so much about everyone and has the most empathy of any teacher I have. He is so excited to teach and so excited for people to learn. Hes hilarious and makes class exciting. He teaches you in way thats easy and pleasurable to learn
Professor Morgan was an amazing philosophy teacher. He made the books we read very fun to talk about. His lectures were great and really helped understand the material. If you are willing to read a little but its a great elective course. Just remember it is philosophy so reading is a must!
Tells dad jokes every class. Material would not make sense if u miss class. All the answers will be in the notes you take in class
I took Phil M07 (online) last semester and loved it, so I thought I'd take M09 online this semester. Best class I've ever taken. Professor Morgan's lecture videos present all of the material very clearly. The material is challenging, but Professor Morgan makes the class as fun and painless as possible. Looking forward to taking philosophy with him.
I took M07 before with professor Morgan, and I decided to take M09 this semester. Amazing class, it gets a little hard at the end, but if you watch the videos and practice, then no issue. Very helpful professor. No jokes this time for his online class .
Matthew Morgan is literally the best professor ive ever had. I was really excited for philosophy, and he only made things more interesting. He starts every class off with a dad joke. The lectures are mostly reading and deciphering what is being said. He makes it fun and interesting, and really helps you understand. I highly recommend taking him
Professor Morgan was great. Great sense of humor and always conducted great discussions. Made it really easy for everyone to pitch in during discussions and always made sure everyone was well prepared for what was going to be on the tests. I cannot recomend him enough.
He managed to diffuse a verbal, almost physical fight that broke out right in the middle of a lecture between a guy on drugs and an obnoxious troublemaker, both of whom never spoke up again. Basically, he's got philosophy superpowers. His Into to Philosophy class is easy, fun, contemporary, and social. A perfect way to get into the subject!
Online Logic was a breeze. The grading layout is super clear and it's honestly not too much work. Tests are easy and so is the homework. I never touched the textbook, just watched the video lectures and still got a great grade. It's also just a really interesting and kinda fun class! Recommend.
Prof Morgan was the absolute G. So hilarious and LOVES his job AND his students. I took his 8:30 class and looked forward to going every week. Moving online he made it so easy, he lets u BYPASS a discussion post if you watch his zoom meeting and pick up the clue sentence to write. I look forward to his online lectures and daily jokes. TAKE HIM!!!!
Matthew Morgan is known to be one of the best professors at moorpark college overall, and it definitely holds up. He is the most caring, understanding, and catering professor I've ever had. He cares about individual student success, it isn't all about getting information out fast and leave. He took time with us, and made us feel good about learning
Matthew is easily one of the best professors at Moorpark. He makes philosophy fascinating and fun to learn about. That being said, you must show up for the lectures or else the content can be very confusing. There's one quiz, two tests, and two essays. If you ever need help at all go to his office hours and he'll help you out! Take his class!
I've taken a few online classes before but his was the absolute best! His lectures are clear and engaging, and he's always willing to lend time to expand on certain issues. Even in my later start course, the workload always felt reasonable and well-paced. Can't wait to take him again!
Professor Morgan was the funniest teacher I've ever had. He made a conscious effort to make all the material understandable & the class was engaging throughout. The only thing I didn't like was that he didn' have online grades. But that hardly mattered because his class was so fun & allowed for a lot of peer discussion which I thoroughly enjoyed!
Definitely take his class. He's a great professor that dumbs down philosophy so his students can actually understand everything. Super straightforward and an amazing lecturer. Tons of group discussions but it helps SO much and as long as you listen in class, you'll definitely pass every test.
Such a great professor! Lots of lectures videos and homework, but if you take notes & review you'll do well in this class. Great at explaining. Make sure to keep up with the work. 4 Tests, Discussions, and a few quizzes at the end. The tests are remotely recorded. The homework is done from an online textbook and is pricy. Overall, highly recommend!
He is the epitome of a modern teacher, open to new ideas and gets excited when you question/contradict his assumptions. I took his class in Fall 2019 and he always called on me to hear my opinion and encouraged thinking that was outside of the box. If you are a curious and motivated student, you'll love his class. Try to participate as much as poss
I took him for Symbolic Logic this past summer with no experience w/ philosophy. I missed so many assignments and he let me submit them late anyways! Because it was a 4 wk summer session, he dropped 2-3 Cengage assignments & 2 quizzes and curved the final! He understood I had a religious holiday & allowed an extension! I'm taking him again for M01!
This is the second course I've taken with Matthew, and I am still amazed by his teaching abilities. I don't like online courses, but he lectures so intuitively it feels just like being in person. There's a homework assignment that accompanies every lecture, some discussion posts, and 4 tests that are non-cumulative. Highly recommend this course.
Prof. Morgan was by far, my favorite professor out of the five I had this semester. His class was straight to the point and easy to understand. Everything was online because of COVID-19, but he still sent out lecture videos and engaged with students. Don't hesitate to take his class!
He's very likable and the assignments are easy, but he's not the best philosophy teacher. He misunderstood what I was saying multiple times and doesn't always understand the text (he re-reads and seems confused in the online lectures). This class is better if you're an extrovert, and he moves past students in class discussions quickly.
I used to find Philosophy very boring but after taking this class, it really made me interested in it. His lectures are very interesting and thought-provoking. This is one of the only classes I took this semester where I felt like I actually learned something. He's a very good professor that gives great feedback on discussion posts. Easy A!
Oh my gosh, I am begging you to take his class. He is so funny and kind. He is knowledgeable and wants you to succeed. He is just amazing at his job and is very understanding. He does grade a bit hard but he is there to help you. Made me fall in love with philosophy. 10/10
I was not always able to reach him, as he does not respond to emails Thursday through Sunday. Also he never went over the majority of questions or subjects that appear on the homework. Its a lot of teaching yourself the material. He was helpful when I was able to reach him, but I struggled a lot in his class.
By far the most caring and hilarious teacher at moorpark. His lectures are very thorough and entertaining which make the class both enjoyable and easy. As long as you pay attention to the lectures and take notes you're good to go!! He is very understanding/flexible which is super helpful! overall 10/10 recommend :)
Professor Morgan is the funniest professor I have ever had. His lectures were super interesting. He provided all the reading materials. He ignited an interest in Philosophy. I learned a ton and enjoyed the class. If you pay attention to the lectures and do most of the reading you can't fail
Prof. Morgan is an awesome professor. I don't care too much for this subject but he makes it interesting and easy to follow. He is also hilarious, and just overall a friendly person. Would absolutely recommend taking him and this class.
Professor Morgan is awesome! His online lectures are clear and concise, which leads to a quiz, which then leads to an exam. All the material is well covered and the tests reflect what you learned through the lectures and readings - not some random questions created to confuse you. Stay up on the lectures, take good notes, and you'll do just fine.
He is great. Take notes, do your lectures and you'll pass.
His lectures are pretty easy to understand and as long as you take good notes you will pass, no problem. The exams are pretty easy: just make sure you understand the basic ideas each article or essay you are going at that time.
The material itself can sometimes be challenging, but Professor Morgan is always there to help. He answers emails and actively engages in the discussion posts. You get multiple tries on the homework and tests. There are also discussion posts so students can help each other with the homework and concepts. 100000/10 recommend if you need the credit.
He's a great professor but you need to read/skim a few papers during the class. You also have a lot of group discussions. Pretty easy A if you show up to classes and participate.
Really great professor. There's a reason why he's known to be one of the best professors at Moorpark College. Great structure and teaching style for an online class. Topics can seem intimidating but he breaks it down and tries his best to make sure his students understand the concepts of logic. 100% recommend
Took an accelerated 8 week course with Professor Morgan. He is a great guy and gives good lectures. Class assignments inspired thinking instead of just being a total drag. Wish all Professors were like him.
WARNING for those who plan on taking the M09 online. If you don't like math, you should probably skip this class. You deconstruct arguments into variables & use formulas to interpret. If you did well in statistics, you should be fine. He explains the concepts well, the homework is easy if you understand the lecture, and the tests are even easier.
Although the class seems difficult at first, do not be discouraged. Prof. Morgan does a good job in his lectures explaining the concepts, which then makes the homework (not on Canvas) very straight forward. In his lectures he creates "cheat sheets" which help with memorizing. Overall, not the easiest A and requires some effort, but you will be fine
Easy course overall. Definitely recommend this class if you need to fulfill any course requirements.
Professor Morgan is an amazing professor. His lectures are very entertaining. He really wants to help everyone succeed. If you need to take a philosophy class choose professor morgan as your professor.
Definitely one of the best professors I have had so far. I took his 4-week summer class and I was originally scared to take on this subject, but he made it easy to understand. During his lecture videos, he would go over readings and take notes with you. I loved that as it helped me understand it all with ease.
So good at teaching the basics of ancient philosophy and makes it super fun and interactive. Loved his lectures and I never wanted to miss his class. Super engaging. Created amazing active conversation amongst students with all different backgrounds. His lectures were super well done. Only a couple essays but they are pretty basic and to the point.
Perfect Canvas class. Explains concepts clearly. Easy grader. Light workload.
Professor Morgan's class was a highlight of my semester. His engaging lectures and clear explanations made the material easy to grasp. I found Unstuckstudy super helpful for exam prep too. Definitely recommend this course!
Prof. Morgan's online M09 class was so great! It's clear that he cares a lot about his class, given all the lectures that he made for his class on youtube!
this professor and class was super easy I would definitely recommend taking! The professor is super kind and in canvas he does a daily joke thing everyday super easy to get an A in this class!
Took his 4 week summer course, expecting to just cruise through and procrastinate since I got a new job workin daily. I was wrong (not by much), he makes you put in the work, nothing heavy, but just wants to make sure you're paying attention in the course. Lots of readings and quizzes. Kind professor overall and I'm sure he'd be fun in person!
Great lecturer with a good sense of humor! You definitely learn the basics of symbolic logic well, and frankly, you can rely on the textbook for the first 3/4ths of the course. Homework and exams are manageable, and his grading policies are lenient and give multiple attempts. The last quarter of the class becomes more difficult, so be prepared.
I joined the class a week or two late and Professor Morgan was very generous and understanding about me catching up on the work I had missed. Also gives very clear instructions on what is expected and runs the course well and it's great for actually being able to learn for an online class.
Amazing prof! would take his class again if it counted towards my major, super fun to talk to before and after class. get ready for corny jokes too.
I enjoyed this class so much! The topics we discussed were very interesting. Every writing assignment matters but they were all very straightforward. Professor Morgan was very understanding if you need to re-submit an assignment or need an extension. Just be sure to talk to him about it! Very approachable. A fun class environment.
Really cool guy. Participation in class discussion is pretty much mandatory but he doesn't make you feel bad if you don't understand the reading. Very chill on deadlines and super encouraging!
