Decent professor. Moves a little fast but kinows his stuff. My only complaint is we don't have a true syllabus so we only get about 1 weeks notice for exams, making it hard to plan around other classes
he's a pretty good teacher. likes to make jokes and keeps the mood in the classroom pretty light and open. my only complaint is we dont have a syllabus and get very little notice for exams
Matthew Neubek takes a light and laid-back approach to teaching a subject few a omfortable with.Although the atmosphere is relaxed, he doesn't tolerate disruptions. He teaches at a steady pace and he's a great instructor. His classes are fun and as long as you do the required work, you, too, will have an awesome experience.
Matt was an awsome teacher he makes the learning experience relaxed and comfortable. He has an awsome personality and relaxed vibe.Very open and considerate with questions and making sure you understand the material. If you do the work assigned and study its an easy A.
Matt was a really exceptional professor. I enjoyed class because he not only helped us learn, but set the classroom as a comfortablelarning environment. Math is always funny when we can have jokes here and there. I had a good time in that class and learned some new things, including different techniques to solve different math problems.
Do the work and study and you will pass with a good grade. Disrupt the class and answer your phone during tests and you will be asked to leave. This is a class taught at the college and students are treated as college students and expected to do their part. I would recommend this teacher.
He is a very nice guy and okay teacher. He moves rather quickly and gives little notice for quizzes and tests. If you tend to skip class, you probably won't pass. Ask for help early or you'll be completely lost later on -trust me, I know from experience. He will answer any and all questions. As long as you keep up with the work, you will pass.
The class was a challenage for me but with the instructors study guides and availablity for extra help I ended up with an A. He does not allow the use of calculators wants to challenage your brain. He is laid back, and has a great sense of humor.Overall I thought he was an excellent professor.
I took him for Pre calc and really enjoyed it. Matt held numerous study sessions outside of class and was dedicated to helping us understand the subject. He is very clear with his lessons and very direct as to what is on the exams. If you go to his class and study what he tells you, there are no surprises. Very good professor, take him!
This Guy is the reason I passed college algebra. If you follow his hand outs and ASK QUESTIONS, he will give you all the help you need. He's an excellent teacher, there should be more like him!
Good professor. Helps you a lot if you ask.
Hes a really easy going professor and I would definitely take him again.
Matthew is the best professor I have ever had. I took him for college algebra, and then for pre calculus, and I got an A in both. As long as you go to class and take notes, you will do well. He has an awesome sense of humor and is so helpful. I STRONGLY suggest him for any class you can get him for! He also writes awesome letters of recommendation!
This guy is great! At first I didn't like that I didn't receive an actual "professor" for pre calc, but after taking him I was so grateful!! He's down to earth and still young so he can relate to his students school/ personal life. He is always willing to help out side of the classroom, and overall is just a good connection to have!
Pretty good class. He is a funny teacher that relates well to students. Very willing to help. Attend all lectures & labs, do your homework and the study guides and you should do well. Not a very hard class at all if you try.
He was fine. Class is super easy if you go to lab. I basically learned everything from help me solve it because he was unclear sometimes. If you asked a question he would sometimes make you feel stupid too which is annoying.
This was by far the easiest class I have ever taken. Neubek is an amazing instructor and he explains everything extremely well. I sat in the front of the class during lecture and attended every lab. Lab is where you actually learn math. STRONGLY NEUBEK! He will laugh and then stop abruptly which is hilarious and his posture is perfect! He's great!
He does drop quite a few grades, but this semester he chose to test us every week. We barely covered enough info, so most of it was learning it all on your own. Very sarcastic, not entirely boring class. Random lecture activities (quizzes) and hw is through MyMathLab. Doesn't require attendance, but did not enjoy consistently being tested.
WHAT A PHENOMENAL TEACHER!!! BY FAR THE BEST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD! HE GENUINELY CARES ABOUT EACH AND EVERY STUDENT. HE IS EXTREMELY HELPFUL and so are his office hours. He is dedicated to helping his students understand the material. If you want to learn and understand College Algebra, TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!! He is also very entertaining =)!
Matt is an amazing professor. He goes at the perfect pace for everyone to understand. Office hours, take advantage. This is where I got to know him really well. He is really caring, hilarious, and understanding. He gives great advice too. I've learned so much more than just math from him. Definitely going to visit him next semester !!
BEST MATH TEACHER IN THIS SCHOOL. Trust me, you won't regret taking him. He offers a ton of help and the class is easy. Make sure you print the notes...he does have quite a bit of online hw but it's very easy as long as you attend class!
Professor Neubek is the best mathematics professor I've had at FGCU. His teaching style is direct, clear, focused, and understandable. As a person, he is very friendly and helpful in his office, where there are always students. The class is not an easy A if you're not comfortable with math, but he drops a lot of grades and is always there to help.
I really am not smart in math but this professor made it easy for me to understand the material because he does everything very meticulously and careful so students that are slow learners in math like me, capture the information easier. He is a great instructor and I recommend him to all students.
I took algebra with Professor Neubek. I hadn't taken a math class in almost a decade and have never been good at Math to begin with, he was INCREDIBLY helpful and willing to do whatever necessary to help you understand; as long as you're putting the effort in. He really cares about his students, and is hilarious.
Likes to be called Matt, he's really funny but sarcastic! And he really keeps the class together and on task. Homework is a given, there are a few tests. You just need to do the reviews and study and you'll do fine! His TA was really awesome too! He doesn't take attendance but for the sake of your grade, just go.
I really enjoyed Mr. Neubek. Although I signed up for his class late and missed when he recommended to never come to class with a mechanical pencil. On an exam day he took everyones mechanical pencils, including mine, and made me go find a wooden pencil in the hallway. He explains things very well, his tests are simple if you study. Take him.
I never really had a chance to interact with him in person, but the times I emailed him he was prompt, and clear and very helpful. He really does seem like the kind of professor that will go out of his way to make the students pass. DEFINITELY would take him again.
Great professor. I really learned in his class. He also goes out of his way to help any of his students. He's dope.
Great professor. Had him for two classes and he was very helpful. The class is a tough class but I got through it. Love going to his office hours. Genuinely cares about his students.
I loved Neubek, WOULD DEFINITELY TAKE AGAIN. I love him. He is very helpful and is always there for his students.
Professor Neubek is one of the best math teachers I have ever had. He doesn't rush through the sections. He takes his time explaining everything, and he makes sure everyone's questions are answered. If you have no idea how to do math take his class and you will understand. He cares about his students, and he is really easy to understand. TAKE HIM.
Mr. Matt has been one of the best math teachers I have ever had. He explains things so well and can explain it in different ways if you still don't understand. He is there to help and wants you to do well. I would definitely recommend and take again.
If you are willing to put in the work then he is willing to help you! He tries to help you as much as he can. Also, his sarcasm will keep the lectures from being a bore.
Neubek is super funny and helpful. Teaches in a way that you can understand, and uses a lot of examples. Goes out of his way to ask if anyone needs help or isn't getting the material. Precalc is hard but his office hours helped me a lot. Don't skip class or you will regret it.
Second class with Neubs, and the most important thing to know is GO TO OFFICE HOURS. Fight for points back on tests if its a fair argument he may give points back. His tests are based on concepts, so know how to solve the problem different ways. Mechanical pencils only, no disruptive noises near him! A great club Adviser for FGCU Hammock Club! 3
Great professor, knows what he is doing really well. MyMathLab is a bit tedious, but it's a small price to pay for an incredible professor and class. Being slightly math illiterate, he definitely helped me pass. Very funny and sarcastic at times, and as long as you can tell when he is joking, you'll have a good time. Don't use wooden pencils.
I'm not a math person at all but if you go to class, take notes, do homework, and practice, you will have an A! He will help you with whatever you need and cares about his students. His lectures are always great and fun. Go to his office hours and he will help you with anything you ask. He's awesome!!
Neubek CLEARLY cares about his students and you'll realize that very quickly. His tests are pretty tough so you have to study. Your best bet is going to his office hours because the one on ones make everything so much clearer. I suck at math but he helped me pass. If he sees that you are trying he will do everything to make sure you pass his class.
Neubek really cares about students and it really helps to get to know him by going to office hours. Only use mechanical pencils, and never eat in class.
Neubek is by far my FAVORITE professor I have ever had. He is very understanding if you don't understand something and will explain it in another way and if you still don't get it he will stay after to help or set up office hours with you. He can be sarcastic at times, but you'll catch on to his humor. I will definitely take him again.
This is an awesome professor! Makes everyone feel respect! Test are worth a majority if your grade and he only has seven a couple of them only had ten questions which means a bigger chance at failing those. He is a really good teacher though!
Best math teacher I have had. He is willing to help you succeed and wants you to be a successful student and person, and makes a real, genuine effort to ensure it happens. He does his part, but you are expected to do yours by practice, engage, and show you care too. I believe if you take his class you will see life and math differently forever. (:
Mr. Matt is by far the most caring professor at this school. He's such a great, relaxed guy and he's always there to help you when you need it. Although he does have a quiet voice, it can be hard to continue paying attention. Mr. Matt was so helpful to me and my classmates and I would recommend getting to know him, you won't regret it!
Monotone voice made class boring but his lectures were decent and he offered all he could to help students so i respect that. Class was kinda hard but for the most part just do hw and you're fine.
Math is NOT my strong point, but he made this class easy for me. Always went to his office hours sometimes they helped, he usually has like 15 people from different classes. what got me through the semester was doing the HW tutorials over and over again. Passed with a 94. had like 5 chapter tests, lowest grade is dropped. Id take him again.
Mr. Matt is an absolutely awesome teacher. He's very helpful during and out of class and makes sure that his students get the material and are comfortable with it. He is also very caring and has a way of knowing his students on a personal level outside of class.
Math sucks but Mr. Matt makes it easier. He always gives uplifting talks before he starts the lecture. He really cares about his students and wants them to succeed and is always ready to help them out with whatever problems they have. 10/10 would recommend.
He scares you in the beginning on purpose. I'm usually a low B to C student in all math classes, but this was the first time I've ever done really well. Once you hit the middle of the semester he starts cracking more jokes and the material gets alot easier.
He provide you with more than enough tools to atleast recieve a B or higher. I must admit his lectures were very confusing to me because I took algebra 1 semesters before hand and he doesn't go through small steps but he provides you with a review that just like the test. It up to you if you go to tutoring and office hours to get the grade you want
Professor Neubek is the reason I created an account on here. He is very thorough with his class lectures and gives you printable notes so you can follow along in class. He wants students to understand the material and will stop his lecture to ensure you understand. Attend office hours and show initiative and you will excel in this class!
Mr. Neubek is one of the best professor I've ever taken. The course may be tough for some people. Do your homework. Try to understand the concepts seen in class. He's going to help you out whenever something isn't clear and you need an extra explanation. He's not just teaching math, he's teaching you a mindset. Follow it and you will succeed.
By far the best professor I have ever had. He will stop everything to make sure you understand and goes through things very thoroughly. A very easy teacher to talk to if you're having problems and will never do anything to make you feel stupid or call you out in front of the whole class.
I loved professor Matt! He explains everything so clearly and if you don't understand he will make sure you do! I've never been good at math but with his class, its honestly so easy. His notes are clear. He is funny and will tell you stories if it relates. I seriously recommend taking his class, you will love it!
i never liked math all my life until this class. he makes you feel great and confident in the course material, and he answers everything so calmly and respectfully. doubt ill ever have a better professor for the next three years. he really impacted me positively and for that i am forever thankful. i hope he reads this and knows he changed my life!
Overall, a good professor. Explains course content in a clear and simple manner. Only negative is to make sure you don't make any noise or discuss stuff while he is speaking. He will most likely pause the entire class to yell and embarrass you. Some days he's in a good mood but the days that he is not, make sure you don't say a word or "distract"
Professor Neubek is a good professor, just goes a little too fast sometimes and that's what makes it tough. I found the first few chapters to be the hardest, but as the course went on, it got easier. First test was the hardest, but after that they weren't so bad. Make sure you do ALL homework assignments and do your best on them because they help!!
Professor Neubek is a great professor, but precalculus is a very challenging subject. If you come to him one on one he will explain it to you until you get it. If you do not come to him when you do not understand something then you will not get it . Don't be afraid to ask for help! In this class if you work really hard, you will see the results.
Let it be known that I made an account on this specifically so I could come rate Neubek. Neubek is an amazing professor. He really cares about whether or not you're succeeding, he is of terrific character and is involved on campus/has a lot of FGCU pride, and teaches so that someones able to grasp the material EVEN if math is their weak subject.
had to go home and reteach myself EVERYTHING, embarrasses you in class, won't provide help when you ask. Tests were horrible. Unprepared and lazy teaching. Book is useless as well as the homework program.
Professor Neubek is a really good professor, I took him in summer 2017. He describes things very well and is the best math teacher I have ever had. I highly recommend.
Professor Neubek is the best math professor I ever had. He describes everything in different ways so you can understand. He wants you to pass so will communicate with students how to best help. Precalculus is a hard subject, he is the best professor to take for it. Highly recommend!!!
Mr. Neuebek is an awesome teacher. He is passionate about teaching & cares about students success. Lectures are very clear & material is broken down to understand in a simples manner. Very helpful during office hours & during class. Pre-cal is a difficult course but having a great teacher makes a HUGE difference. I would take his class again.
Tough class, but Neubek tries to make sure everyone understands the material. He's VERY sarcastic, but helpful. Make sure you actually study for the test in every way possible or you will fail! Drops lowest test and a few low homework assignments. Do the homework and pay attention in class.
Professor Neubek is amazing. His lectures are clear and get the point across. He is also funny so even if you have a 2 hour lecture you will be able to pull through. I don't consider myself as someone who is "good" at math but through hard work I pulled through with an A. I recommend this class.
Professor Neubek is really amazing. His lectures are filled with sarcastic/dry humor that really makes the time fly by. The content can be quite easy as long as you stay on top of the homeworks and pay attention during lectures. He drops grades and really wants you to succeed. Would totally take him again.
He is the BEST math teacher. Make use of his office hours, he has about 6 hours freely open to help his students. All his tests are multiple choice and he also drops grades. Do the homework and it will help your grade a lot surprisingly. He explains things so amazing. Go to his office hours and you will get a B+ or higher in the class.
Lecture notes are all printable from MyMathLab and are very clear with plenty of examples, so going to class is worth it. Tests are straight from the notes/review/homework. He also has a ton of office hour times to review tests and/or homework if you're stuck. Plus, his personality is pretty great - approachable and funny.
Mr. Neubek is a wonderful professor. He creates simple examples to demonstrate the formulas and processes for the algebra problems. Don't show up more than 5 minutes late if you know what's good for you. The homework is important and should be done on time. He gives great feedback and genuinely cares about his students passing.
Professor Neubek is really awesome. He explains how to work out the math problems in the lectures giving examples. All the tests are multiple choice and he does drop grades. The homework really helps study for the test. I recommend this class and he really cares about his students passing the class.
Neubek is an amazing Professor. Pre Calc is a tough course but each class you go over a section of notes and take a test. He gives a review test that is exactly like the test! if you're struggling go to office hours. He wants to help you pass! Missing class will not help and towards the end you get to leave early. Take Neubek!
Neubek was a great precalc professor. Its a hard class but he really prepares you for the intensity of calc. The lectures were always very clear and although some of his teaching didnt match my math lab, it was easy to figure it out. Review is a lot like the test, and although attendance isnt mandatory, you need to show up in order to pass.
Professor Neubek is one of the best professors out there. He makes a ton of funny jokes during class and also cares a lot about the students. I would highly recommend taking his classes. There is homework due before every class but what do you expect it is a math class. Over all great professor!
The best algebra professor ever! The way his explains its almost impossible that you dont understand and even if you do, he is always willing to help you figure things out. I would take him for all my math classes if I could.
He is a great math teacher. He makes things clear and makes sure you understand the material. I 100% recommend you take his class especially if math is not your strong suit. I wanted to take him for precalc but his class got filled up.
Neubek is honestly an amazing professor. He goes pretty in-depth during lectures and he doesn't just give you textbook notes. He's also pretty funny and really considerate towards his students. Probably THE best college algebra professor you can get. If you get him don't take it for granted and as long as you try and do your work you can get an A
He makes sure everyone understands before moving on. Tests are not hard if you know what youre doing. Very nice guy, I hope to be able to have him again. Makes math not seem too bad and cracks jokes, so were not bored. Cares a lot if students understand materials and he makes himself available as much as he can, and offers a lot of ways for help.
Honestly such a laid back professor. Easily approachable and will definitely help if you do not understand a concept. Do all of the homework. He drops lowest test and some homework as well.
He's funny, but if you don't like math, you will not like his teaching strategy -- he wants you to really understand the calculus and I just need this class for my major. We're his first Calc. class so I'm cutting him some slack, but he's arrogant and not that helpful. Unfortunately, he shattered the little excitement I had for this class.
Personally, I feel like it is truly a blessing to find a teacher passionate about what they do. Professor Neubek was always willing to help, even if it was a couple of minutes after class or office hours. He always inspires you and will tell stories to motivate you. If you work hard and ask questions, you will succeed. He knows his math, trust me.
I was horrified to take pre-calculus BUT, I enjoyed this course even with the difficulty, instruction was very clear & Prof Neubek did his best to dumb down concepts to a tangible level. He cracks jokes in the online/class lecture to keep interest. You must put in the time but an A is very do-able. If you can it with Neubek I highly recommend.
CALC 1. Anyone that says he is hard, is just lazy. Take notes, read book, hw, & study good grade. Best Prof yet. 1st Calc 1 class he's taught. THE BEST "explainer" of math. Email response quick. Took him for pre-calc also. He's the nicest guy ever. People say he is "arrogant" and "rude". If you find him rude, then you're just soft. TAKE HIM - KW
Mr .Neubek is very caring and wants to see his students succeed. Math is math and if you aren't good at it he will do his best to help you through things and get you on track. I took him for algebra too and he's super cool and cracks some good jokes.
I'm not sure why people say he answers emails quickly -- the couple times I've emailed him regarding CLASS WORK, he took an entire day and by that point the assignment was due. Told me I didn't have to take the final exam and when I emailed him VERIFYING IF I needed to take it, he never answered.
Hw is all done through MyLab. Theres a total of 5 exams + the final. His notes were hard to understand since the material doesnt match the hw which leads to not matching the exams. Calculus is a hard subject nonetheless, but I really had to put in overtime to get a passing grade. He drops your lowest exam grade & 3 lowest hw assignments.
He drops your lowest exam and 3 lowest homework, which helped my grade a lot! He's also really funny which actually makes calculus a little more interesting. I took him for college algebra as well and would take him a third time if I could, overall he's a great professor!
I took Professor Neubek for Pre Calc and he's great! I'm defiantly someone who struggles with math and he made it very straight forward. He drops the 3 lowest homework grades and replaces the lowest test with your highest. If you go to his office hours, he will gladly help you!!! The notes can be printed out so you can follow along in class.
Neubek walked us through many of the homework problems and told us specifically what to write down and what we needed to know. He put a lot of effort into making us videos when we had to go online for COVID, and even excused me from the final since my grade was high enough. He drops lowest exam grade which helps a lot!
Professor Neubek is the best professor I've had throughout college, probably K-12 as well. He truly cares about your understanding and welcomes questions at any time. Office hours were very helpful. Idk how people on here can say he is arrogant; maybe they just misunderstand his humor. Lectures were honestly enjoyable. Took him for Precalc & Calc1.
this is one of the best professors I have ever had. even if you are struggling in the subject of math, Professor Neubek gives amazing lectures and truly cares about his students learning the material. he is kind-hearted and very funny. best professor, amazing class.
Honestly completely trash I took elementary calculus with him and he is completely unhelpful His lectures teach me nothing and his exams are a different language than any homework or example problems Totally hated his attitude and he is a lazy teacher Wouldn't allow me to make up anything i missed even though I was not legally allowed to show up
I had professor Neubek for calc 1 and it was a typical online class. He has a youtube channel for his lecture videos where he explains the material then does practice problem. Homework is done on webassign and can be difficult. I'd personally prefer to take this class in person.
Drops several of the lowest homework/quiz grades, often ends class early, and has great lectures that really explain the material. I am not a math person, and usually really struggle with math, but thanks to the way the material was presented I ended up with 97%. Highly recommend; I will definitely take any future math classes with this professor.
Honestly, I think Neubek is an overrated professor. I had a very solid grasp of the material going into his class and did excellent with him, but I don't think he taught the material in the best way. He's sort of an awkward guy, but nice if you are respectful and care about doing well. He's not trying to trick you on tests. Seems pretty standard.
DO NOT TAKE HIM! He makes thinks WAY harder than they need to be. Thankfully I am pretty okay in math, but I taught myself everything. I went to office hours and he still didn't help. He is arrogant and unapproachable and spends most of class talking about himself. His lecture videos don't go along with the HW or exams. I GIVE HIM a 0 RATING
He is so nice and calm. I had him for college Algebra and everything was on mathlab. Its easy to pass when its online. If I could take him for all my math classes I would.
He is a nice guy but can be VERY passive aggressive. My math lab DOES not help in this course , the website asks for specific answers that are not Neubeks answers because they each use different methods. He teaches through flipped classroom and in class time is for questions&tests. Lectures on Youtube which helps to study though.
Neubek is the best educator that I have ever had. I am not good at math whatsoever, but going to office hours and talking with him helped so much. Truly one of the nicest and most genuine people I've ever met. If you didn't like him, you didn't put effort into the class because He WILL help you if you genuinely try. Amazing professor that cares.
Great professor. Flipped classroom setting so lectures at home, questions in class. Not that much homework. He even drops a few low assignment/quiz/exam scores. If you struggle with math office hours are extremely helpful. Lectures are great, I didn't need the mathlab textbook. Extra credit is rare, so don't get off to a bad start grade-wise.
VERY descriptive and tedious. My course was laid out where we watched videos at home and filled out notes, completed homework, and then went into class for any questions, quizzes, and test. He is a good teacher but maybe not for everyone. Go check his youtube and see if you like his teaching methods for yourself: Mathyou.
Worst Professor. I am not sure why everyone likes him so much. I got an A+ because of youtube university lol. He gives you "lecture videos" that don't go along with the HW or exams and then has you come to class to "ask questions" but is so unapproachable. *WARNING: he is very arrogant and blunt , which makes it very hard to learn from him
failed this course twice until I took this professor! class only meets to discuss the homework and then do a group quiz with people of your choice. lectures are posted online. homework is in aleks and its much better than math lab.
I had Professor Neubek for Precalculus back during the Spring 2020 semester and he was absolutely fantastic. His online videos are excellent and coincide with the notes given. I highly suggest taking Professor Neubek for any math course that he is teaching as he will do everything he can to help you pass the class.
kinda awkward but tries his best, the way he teaches is confusing so you're better off teaching yourself. every class is either a quiz or a test so if you skip you will fail. the good thing is he drops the 3 lowest hw, 2 lowest quiz, and 1 lowest test. as long as you do your hw which is on aleks and much easier than mymathlab, you will be fine.
Gives a quiz every class day, so you can't be absent. We use an online book and its required to do hw. No class the day after a test. He doesn't lecture, you do the lectures on your own and come to class to ask questions and take tests/quizzes. I enjoyed him a lot. Easy to access out of class.
Professor Neubek really cares about his students and is easily the best math teacher Ive ever had! He had office hours every Wednesday where you could meet with him about any questions. We had a quiz every day, a test for each chapter and a final exam. Definitely take him
The best teacher ive ever had and im a junior. Third time taking this course and Neubek is the only reason i passed. He drops low scores, gives amazing feedback and personal stories about making you a better person overall, and on top of that, raised our final grades to benefit everyone in his class, TAKE HIM YOU WONT REFRET IT YOULL PASS!!!
I got an A+ because of ME! He's so arrogant and refuses to teach, he expects you to watch his videos that don't go along with anything on the homework, he's very rude towards students and thinks he's God's gift on earth. He doesn't teach and when students ask questions on multiple occasions he's said that was a stupid question and refuses to answer
Not a good professor, doesn't let students know how bad he is because he calls rate my professor and gets them removed. If you're a girl, be careful, he's a creep, Title IX is familiar with him but he's still kicking! He doesn't teach, he gets annoyed at questions and refuses to go over the whole problem. His YouTube videos are unhelpful
Professor Neubek is one of the best math teachers I have taken in years. I had him for an in-person class, all of our HW was online, and when we were in class, we had a quiz/activity, open notes. If you have questions, he will help you with anything you need.
Neubek was a great professor. Although there was a lot of HW, the flipped classroom made it easy to learn on my own and solidify the information by asking him to walk through certain things during class time. Class time is almost completely dedicated to you asking any questions you have about the HW or note videos I still passed w/ 5 other classes.
I had Neubek for precalc last semester and I'm currently taking him again for calculus. I definitely wasn't used to the whole flipped classroom idea, but I was willing to try it. I actually learned a lot and his class was my highest grade that semester. Genuinely cares about his students' success! 10/10 take if you can.
You will have to teach yourself EVERYTHING. He has lecture videos you watch online and you only review homework problems in class. His lecture videos do not help at all, he will set up a problem and then tell you to figure out the rest without explaining the process to solve it. I ended up using the book to teach myself since he wasn't much help.
Overall a decent professor. I am good at math so I had no problem with the content. He does a flipped classroom which I didn't mind, but lots of people don't like it. I just hate how rude and condescending he is to his students while also saying he's here to help. He is so arrogant too, and got mad when I respectfully corrected his wrong answers.
I had him for MAC1147 & MAC2311. Go to office hours before you even need help! Prof. Neubek is always willing to help, and cares immensely about the success of his students. There are many opportunities for success (scores dropped & many assignments). Overall, the best & most caring professor I have ever had at FGCU. Thank you!
I took this class because of the high ratings and overall he was nice but I disagree with the way he teaches because when you ask questions in class he puts you on the spot to answer the question step by step in front of the whole class then lectures you when you get stuck. Lots of homework and if you never took Calc in high school you will fail.
I think that he was a good teacher, he does post his lectures online on youtube, so his class is mostly making sure you are understanding the work and to ask questions.
Professor Neubek is one of my favorite professors. He genuinely cares about his students wellbeing. If you are trying in the class, showing up to class everyday, going to office hours, and turning things in on time, he will make sure you dont fail. Flipped classroom setup, watch lecture on YouTube and ask questions during class time. GO WITH Qs!!
I appreciate him as a person and his efforts, but the YouTube videos while trying to maintain a 30hr job week were merely impossible for me. I wanna say your grade will be dependent on you teaching yourself, watching videos, and asking questions in class. no lecture in class. don't take many classes and slow down your time if you take this class.
Need hours outside of class to watch lecture videos and do the section's online hw before class. Short assignments. If you like this style, this professor would be great for you. Me.. not so much. He will take time though in class to explain something 1v1 and wants you to understand. He did also make class interesting and is an overall cool guy.
I loved him. I highly recommend. He is definitely not for everybody since he does a flipped classroom, but he is amazing for the people that it does work with. He answered questions in class on the homework or the lecture notes. His lectures, although can be long videos, are extremely helpful and thorough. I would recommend going to class.
Prof Neubek was a great teacher. I took him for MAC 1147 and finished with a 95. I started off pretty slow but had a chance no skip the final(if you have a 97 you don't have to take it.). The lectures are online and you take notes and do homework outside of class and ask questions in class. overall would take him again if I had too
BEST professor at FGCU! In general, precalc can be difficult, but his lectures are thorough, the hw is very manageable, and he answers questions very well! I am taking him again for calc, as I actually enjoyed this class and looked forward to it, which I have never said about any class before! Thank you Prof. Neubek!
By far the best class I've taken at FGCU so far. The online lectures are great for understanding the material (watch at 2x speed, he's very thorough), the HW actually helps with comprehension, and when he answers questions in class, he gives useful analogies and explanations. Professor Neubek is caring and genuinely fun to talk to and learn from.
Bad, Do not take. Anything else i will say=rating taken down
Makes a joke out of you in class. This professor made fun of me in class multiple times and made everyone in the class make fun of me. He was complexly supporting them and makes you feel stupid even though i have a 4.0 and still got a 97% in the class
Professor has historically pursued sexual relationships with his undergrad students. This has been confirmed by several young women to attend FGCU. Avoid professor at all costs if you are a female.
I love prof. Neubek. He's a great guy, quirky, very much has dry sarcastic humor, so if you don't appreciate that he might rub you the wrong way. He uses a flipped classroom format, so class time is used for going over problems that students have. Very accessible, I would recommend going to his office hours, even if its just to work on homework.
Professor Neubek was one of my favorite teachers ever. He uses a flipped classroom style. He's really good at explaining the content and his test reviews ensure that you'll get a good grade on the test. Professor Neubek is also really good at giving advice when it comes to taking other courses, choosing your major, or just life in general.
He was a good professor, and I would recommend him to anyone that needs to take pre-calc. He uses a flipped classroom though, so don't take him if you aren't comfortable with this teaching style. He's will answer any questions and work through any problems that you have.
Neubek uses a flipped classroom so you'll do the lectures on your own and come in with homework questions and do an activity in class. Personally I liked this structure because I could go at my own pace, but if you don't think you'd like this I wouldn't recommend. He's very nice and cares a lot about his students.
I never passed a test but I still passed the class. He wants you to succeed and will give you all the resources to do so. It's a difficult class in itself but if you do the homework and show up to every class you will pass.
His class is very boring with a ton of homework. He uses ALEKS which will take hours to complete and there are only 6 tests which are worth 50% of your grade.
Professor Neubek uses the flipped classroom approach. His lecture videos are detailed and go along with the notes he provides. Attendance is not mandatory, but he answers any questions you have in detail and you work on practice problems during class. If you do the notes and attend class to work on practice problems, you will do great.
Amazing math professor. Flipped classroom style, but done really well. You come to class with questions and he answers them. Assignments at the end of class graded on participation, VERY similar to exam. Every chapter has a review, also very similar. He gives you everything you need to pass, you just have to use it. Pay attention and ask questions.
DO NOT TAKE HIM he has hour long lecture videos and you usually have to watch 2 per class, he makes mistakes all the time, is apathetic, 19 ppl failed the first test said it was normal, the absolute worst professor i have ever had, never explains anything in a helpful way, hes very petty, i am good at math and i struggled bc of how awful he is
Prof. Neubek uses a flipped classroom style which I wish I would've known before signing up for his class. All of his lectures are over an hour long and posted on youtube. Your group quiz at the end of class is your attendance grade. During class he just answers questions and goes through some homework. But everything else is done on your own time.
Neubek is not a good teacher. The lecture videos are over an hour long and you usually need to watch 2 before each class. He teaches the material as if you already know it, not like you are learning it for the first time. Tests are extremely difficult and his explanations are overly complicated. He also makes you feel stupid when asking questions.
Professor Neubek is a great teacher, but avoid his flipped classrooms unless you're extremely confident in your mathematical ability. He does not lecture. There are videos of the material uploaded to YouTube up to two hours long each. You must watch these before class, not in class, and he typically teaches as if you already know the material.
Professor Neubek uses a flipped classroom style that takes some getting used to, but pays off if you engage with it. The lecture videos are detailed, and the in-class practice plus helpful office hours make this class manageable. Unstuck Study AI was a great supplement for exam prep.
An amazing math professor who gave me a better understanding of algebra topics. Neubek holds thorough lectures, grades fairly, and does an overall amazing job of teaching his students. I will definitely try to register for his "upper-math" classes.
This is a flipped class. I do not recommend taking this course unless your willing to watch over an hour long video per topic and teach yourself. He is helpful in office hours but they get busy before tests. Each class you have a "quiz" to do in a group and that is your attendance. Only does the questions you specifically ask as examples.
He's quite sassy and can be condescending. The classroom is a flipped style so you basically have to teach yourself everything, or at least I did. However, he made the final exam optional which probably saved my grade, and the actual course work was very simple so I would recommend if you want an easy A.
Such a great prof!! I really struggle with math but he made it so understandable!!! You can tell he wants you to learn and do well!
Not understanding at all when it comes to rescheduling exams, especially if it's on a family member's funeral date- his words. His explanations made no sense; I had to teach myself everything just to pass the class, and it didn't help that his practice worksheet was 40+ questions long. His lectures are also 1+ hours long and it's a flipped class.
Great person overall. Very helpful when you have a question, and office hours are also beneficial. Videos can be a little long, however, they are very helpful in understanding the material. I would recommend taking him. Signed Trey and Kyle.
Great professor, however, would often go off topic during lectures, go on random rants.
I ignored the reviews since he was the only professor with classes available. I have As in all of my other classes, yet I've failed every exam so far. 4 of 5 exams are worth 50% of your final grade and there's one almost every 2 weeks. He gives only 2 days (T-Th) to finish 2 hour video lectures notes and homework since he reviews it the next class.
Matthew Neubek has been my favorite professor so far. I am so happy I took his class. The only thing I would say about him that isn't amazing is he doesn't lecture in class. He provides videos of the lectures. What he does in class is review homework/review questions. He is very accessible outside of class. Tests are hard if you don't study.
He's a good teacher and will help you if you need it. I personally didn't like how he used Aleks for assignments. There's just too much work to do on there. To be fair though, because we have to repeatedly do questions on Aleks if we get them wrong, I did get the material drilled into my head better. Still hardly passed but I just suck at math.
Professor Neubek is amazing! I have never been good at math yet I have been able to maintain an A the entire semester with minimal studying. He gives out practice tests which are almost identical to the real tests so you know exactly what to expect. He also drops your lowest test grade, lowest assignment grade, and the final is optional!
I truly have never understood math better. He uses a program called ALEXS, and it drills the math information into my head. He is hilarious and loves telling jokes and stories. Will help you with whatever questions you need. He gives practice test before the test and they are very similar to the test making it hard to fail. Take him!!
Such a goated prof. Got an A in his class. There's a flipped structure, so make sure you have like a couple hours a week to watch his lectures online. Don't let the structure deter you, he's very helpful during office hours and the grading structure for his class is WORTH IT. Starts out hard but gets easy. Easier if you know the unit circle.
I would recommend him; he seems to really care about his students. I am not good at or like algebra, but his class helped me understand it better.
if you have 18 hours to dedicate to this class every week, go for it. You will be asked to use a 4-function calculator to do calculus in this class. You will be REQUIRED to watch HOURS long lecture videos OUTside of classtime, yet attendance will be mandatory. take this class if you already know all of calculus by heart and don't need a teacher
