He was open to questions and problems. He made class interactive and exciting. The class used books rather than textbooks which were easier to retain attention and more fun to review. He was funny and easy to get along with. He also chose an interesting topic, and covered all aspects of writing in a creative way.
I really enjoy him.. Very interesting and extremely down to earth.. I woudlnt take him again because the grading is kind of strict. But overall he is a wonderful teacher.. 2 thumbs up..
His class was fun overall, but he assign way too much reading and writing. You are require to discuss with the class often to get your participation grade so if you're not good with speaking out loud then i don't recommend this class to you.
Dr. Paproth is a great professor and made class fun. 10-11 quizzes ttl over required reading material; participation grades (this constitutes responding to the readings in class); 2 papers; 1 annotated bibliography. No exams. He very good at responding to emails and helping you with your assignments (i.e. picking a topic, reviewing papers, etc).
Be prepared to do a lot of reading (my class had short, easy reading quizzes every day) and discussion. Paproth is helpful and his tests are pretty straightforward. He chose (mostly) engaging readings and made discussion interesting.
Readings for class are lengthy and hard to understand due to the time period. All in all they are God Awful and boring! He is really into the work so be prepared for lots of discussion. Seems like a nice guy but is nit picky with grading and if you try to improve on a certain area he critiques u harder! His attitude about u picks ur grade!
*Forgot course #* Lots of reading; its boring due to the old time period its from. He plays favoritism with his students. Must pay attention and attend class or you will fail. Also talked constantly how he lives in Midtown with his "wife" and cats. Who cares! His attitude determines your grade. Test/quizzes hard. Wouldn't recommend him.
Great professor! I looked forward to Brit Lit because he is lively, hilarious, relatable, passionate, and made discussions fun. Had weekly response essays, only 2 exams (part 1 author bio/terms; part 2 in class essays with notes). Reasonable grader, very willing to help. Would recommend if you're willing to put in the work.
Great professor, interesting, engaging, and enthusiastic...It was a summer course, so lot's of intense readings and response papers, but manageable if you are a dedicated student! Definite recommendation to take as a professor!
Wonderful teacher Interesting demeanor but it keeps the course interesting and makes you want to listen to what he has to say. Original material. He is a little harder than most in my opinion but always gives honest feedback and helpful criticisms. Very helpful in and outside of class. If he is available take his class you will not be disappointed.
Good guy. Forces you to use Twitter in class - so beware of that. Fun discussions, talks a lot about himself. Hard grader, though.
Matt Paproth in my opinion is an awesome professor. He ingages the class in an awesome discussion setting. His teaching techniques are effective and he's hilarious. Overall I very much enjoyed the class and recommend him. Two Thumbs Up.
Funny guy but he expects you to do your work if not he can get really mad. The grading scale is very hard cause if you were to fail one thing it could ruin your grade. However class itself is pretty chill and not that much work. Just need to participate in a couple of the discussions cause you are also graded on participation.
BEST ENGLISH PROFESSOR! He loves the social networking world and he will teach you all you need to know about how to communicate with people online, including him. Twitter project based mainly on twitter! Blogs, movie reviews, etc. I don't think any class can be more fun than PAPROTH's class!!! TAKE IT!!!!!!!
Had Paproth for DIgEng1101 in the fall. He is a good teacher and knows his stuff. You don't even touch the text book and your overall grade is made up of 7 or 8 projects. If you don't know how to use prezi, powerpoint or digital blogs you will be in trouble.
Overall good teacher, very laid back person, but when he comes to grading he is very strict about what he wants.
Great teacher. You need a computer to do well in the class. He's laid-back, funny, but a tough grader. Do the work, and you won't regret taking the class.
He is a great professor and I would recommend taking him. He wants to help his students, quick to respond to emails, and if you do the work and give it your best you won't be disappointing. He is outside of the box and keeps it interesting, very laid back but fair and helpful grader. Highly recommended.
Professor Paproth is awesome! He's really funny and his assignments are easy to understand. If you're good at writing then you'll do fine in his class. His assignments are up to date so you won't be reading a boring classic but probably watching an awesome movie. Must take for ENGL 1101 and make sure you show up to class and participate!
Dr. Paproth is AMAZING! He focused a lot on digital communication - loved it. Talks a lot about Twitter & etc. About 7 assignments, all worth 100+ pts, but he has peer review days and will read your work if you ask! He does take attendance and you can not miss more than 3 classes, so keep that in mind. Overall, I absolutely loved him!
I had Paproth for 1101 and 1102. I loved his class; very easy, but I learned a lot. He is super laid back as long as you take his class seriously. Gives participation grades; just add to the discussion and you should be good.
Dr. Paproth is one of the best professors I have every had! He was very helpful with my research paper, updated his grades regularly, and emailed back as soon as possible! He was also super chill. Just come to class, take it seriously, and you'll make an easy A! If you're taking 1101 or 1102 you MUST take him! He's the bomb!
he's a great professor and connects with students on a decent level
Great professor! Would definitely recommend. Do your part, and it's an easy A. I'm very comfortable with writing after this class.
I love Matthew Paproth. He is one of the best teachers I have ever had and I would recommend him to anyone who is a new-comer to GGC or anyone who needs to take English 1102 or a 3000 level class. He is very easy to understand and helpful at any time of any day. I never feel nervous or scared to ask him any questions or e-mail him.
Matt was, by far, my favorite teacher of the semester. He works with his students extremely well. He loves to make you read articles an write about them. He's an extremely friendly and funny guy. I would definitely recommend taken his class.
Dr. Paproth is very nice and funny but he is strict with class attendant. He expects you to read the articles to discuss in class and complete the assignments he gives. If you go to class unprepared, he will kick you out! Other than that his class is hilarious and interesting.
Dr. Paproth is a really nice teacher but is strict when it comes to work. He is pretty straight forward. He is also really funny, he will make you laugh. Overall, he is a good professor. Most importantly, show up to class and on time if you want to pass.
Dr. Matt is great. He is there for his students and is funny and laid back in class. You won't regret it.
Funny teacher! His sense of humor is honestly what kept me from falling asleep. Loved the class, loved the lectures, would deff. take it again.
My favorite teacher this semester. Take this class, you won't regret it.
He is AMAZING! He is funny as hell and very sarcastic. I wish he was my professor for all of my classes! I had him for 1102 and our course was on the tv show Breaking Bad. Awesome professor!
Great professor, would definitely take again. My writing excelled this year because of him and he made me love it! So chill & will give you extensions for assignments if needed !
Funny, fun class, no books, sign up now.
Really funny guy, lovessss writing and will make you an excellent writer by the end of the semester haha
DO NOT take him if you are an introvert! He expects you to participate in class by speaking. If you don't talk in class, you will not get a good grade. The only positive thing I will say is that he really helps you improve your writing.
Great Professor. The more you keep in touch, ask questions and email him, the better grade he gives you. He's a tough graders on papers but he spends 4-6 full classes preparing you before the due date. He will extend projects/papers often but only because he projects and papers are lengthy. Overall 2 papers and one big project, not that bad.
Hes a really good professor. You NEED to participate and come to class. If you dont, your grade will suffer tremendously. Be prepared to write. He is picky about grammar. He is also very willing to grant extensions with good reason and is very helpful. Great professor. Would take again.
Matt is freaking cool, one of the greatest Professors I've had so far and he cares. Well he doesn't if you don't, of course. I wanted to take him for 1102, but he isn't doing 1102:( i recommend taking him if you aren't shy and know how to participate in class ! He gives good feedback and is pretty laid back
Dr. Matt is funny and pretty cool. The class is hard, and he's a tough grader.
Honestly the best teacher I have had thus far. He will be remembered. I had him 3 times.
Dr. Paproth's class is very interesting. I was not excited when I found out that I would have to take a British Lit. class, but once I got in his class I was glad that I did take it. We read many different novels, watched different films/videos & the class discussions were open-ended. There were reaction papers, participation grades, & a project.
Great professor. you have to come to class, though, but it's fun and moves quickly.
Good professor
Overall Pap is a good professor, his class is easy and I would reccomend him to anyone ! His class is easy, BUTTTTTT there is a essay EVERY week. they're pretty easy.
Amazing Professor and Human being Overall. Definitely wants to see you do well on Essays. Really fun class. I took him at night from 6:30 -9:00pm depending upon what was going on in class that day we would get out early sometimes. Class discussions every time we met. Far from your typical English 1101 class. He makes the subject enjoyable!
The best English teacher in GGC. He is ready to help you anytime. As a student who speak English as a second language, he really helped me to improve my English and I learned a lot. You need to do respond and summary every week but he is really nice in grading if you do all he ask for. If English is your second language, take him.
Dr. Paproth was not a great fit for me. He is passionate, but the books we read were not interesting at all. You need to speak up a lot in his class. He also likes to waste class time talking about politics.
Dr. Paproth was a very passionate English professor and cared for each of his students. He really wants people to participate as much as possible, and shows you an updated grade all the time through D2L. As long as you read the assignments, pay attention in class and participate, you will get an A!
The best teacher I've had here. His class was fun and we talked about interesting music. He's funny and loves to talk about himself and his baby. It's a good class, never boring.
I'm a second language student and he took time with me outside of class to help me with my English. I take him again in the spring.
Paproth was a good english teacher. he gives online disccusion boards and usually if you do them, its an easy A. He is a tough grader on his essays though, but it help you improve.
This man is the most hypocritical teacher I've ever had. I don't understand how he has such a high rating. He's rude and brutal when it comes to feedback. After following a suggestion of his, my group got points taken off... for doing something HE advised us to do! kinda funny teacher, horrible grader. Wish i never took class. Worked hard for grade
He gives you a semester long project and divides you into groups. You have to create a website and write a ton of unnecessary papers. Even if he sees you put hard work into it he will still fail you. He is very sarcastic and his humor comes off as rude. Basically a horrible teacher
Good class. He's a tough grade, but will read drafts ahead of time as often as you want.
He's a great professor, this class was not difficult at all. He allowed you to open up your mind, also this class was way easier than my AP LANG class in high school. There is a lot of engagement in this class, I recommend taking his HYBRID class if you can, it was only 3 major assignments that were test grades and one discussion post a week.
Great class. He explains the content countless of times. His hybrid class is great and so easy. Hes a nice grader as well. Im a horrible writer but he walked me through alot. Hes also funny and awkward.
Dr. Paproth is a great professor. I thoroughly enjoyed his class and will take more of his classes in the future. He has an interesting perspective and teaching style.
Paproth's hybrid class was great. No textbook, 2 papers, a presentation, and weekly online forums. You HAVE to talk in his class (25% of you grade), but the discussions were always fun and engaging. One of my favorite professors, he challenges you but it is so worth it. As long as you can think critically and speak up you are golden.
Hated his class and he is very rude and focuses on pushing his values and not on teaching the actual subject.
Good professor, good class. You get to write about music, what more do you need to know.
Woot woot, love this class, he the best
Paproth's class was a joke. All we did was read articles about politics and then discuss his bias the entire time. Bc I didn't talk during class, my grade is suffering a lot despite me attending class. Group projects are easy, but he's harsh when giving feedback. There was no structure or schedule to the class whatsoever. Such a waste of my time.
He was an Okay professor. My grade suffered in the beginning becuase I did not participate and I was late for class and missed the quizzes. Once i spoke more in class and didn't miss the quizzes my grades got better. Be prepared to read a lot also he does a lot of quizzes throughout the semester. He can have a smart mouth at times.
1101 class is great. We listened to music and wrote about it. He's pretty funny, let's class out early sometimes. Recommend
Dr. Paproth is one of the most amazing professors I have ever had. He is super understanding about situations that happen outside of the classroom. If you love group projects than this is the class for you, the major of stuff you do for this class is group projects. Be prepared to read articles before class becouse there will be a class discussion
So I had a love/hate relationship with this class. It was an interesting class to take, and professor Paproth is super funny but the class is essay heavy and he grades pretty hard. I took the hybrid class, so there was discussion post every week. I was disappointed in my grade, but if you can write a good essay and have a creative mind you'll enjoy
I took his hybrid class and it was pretty easy. Weekly forums are due on D2L and participation in class matters A LOT! If you do not talk much in class do not take him. His grading is a little nitpicky but it is because he wants the best writing out of you. There are 2 essays, 1 annotated bib, and a group project/ presentation due at the end.
Great Prof. Participation in class is a big factor though, so if you aren't one to talk and participate in class, you wont do well. Other than that, he is super nice and chill, just do your quick, easy weekly work and you're golden.
Great Professor, take the class
Can be funny, but sometimes the jokes can come off as crass and rude.
Dr. Matt is terrific. He's funny and understanding if you have issues. He cares about his students. He sends a lot of emails.
Liked the guy but the work was ridiculous to me. For a unit we had to listen to Fiona Apple's new album in its entirety and explain the meaning behind it. He was a tough grader with papers and assigned a lot of discussions and graded them hard.
A quiz every week that helps keep your grade up. The quizzes are super easy. Discussion post and other assignments prepare you for the essays, so when it is time to put the essay together you are basically piecing together discussion boards. Easy A. I learned a lot from this course that I will take with me to my future classes.
I see a lot of negative review to Dr. Paproth that might just be misunderstanding the course. It's more of a music journalism based class, so you HAVE to participate. If you're shy like me, just aim for one solid comment per class and you'll be fine. He grades fairly and gives specific feedback so you know what to do better with. One of the best!
Super forgiving with due dates. There are weekly discussions except on weeks that essays are due. No tests or quizzes. Lots of extra credit.
A great guy. He will work with you if you need extra time, and his class is something you can do on your own time at your own pace.
I really enjoyed Prof. Paproth as an instructor. He frequently commented on students' discussion assignments to share his own experiences and encourage others to participate and came off as very warm. He clearly wanted students to succeed and learn about literature and its history.
I would take him again.
He is a great profesor. He will work with you at your own pace so you can finish your due assignments. He is caring. He is there to listen.
Good online teacher
Good online professor. Clear guidelines and assignments.
He's a realy good online professor. He does make you write a lot, but it's easy enough. Recommend.
If you have an opportunity to take a course with Dr. Paproth, please do. He's an incredible teacher who will give you feedback that will benefit you as a writer. I wish there were more courses that I am able to take with him.
Dr. Paproth places emphasis on learning instead of grades. He's very nice and understanding too. Basically, if you follow the instructions and do the assignments then you will get an A. His class was well organized and his lectures were good (he gets to the point and he is really encouraging). I would take him again and highly recommend him!
Took an asynchronous 3880 course with Dr. Paproth and loved it. He uses interesting, unique, fun teaching techniques. I learned a lot and had a great experience. He gives good feedback and is super nice. Take his class!
