Professor Quinlan is very passionate about biological psych. He tries to make the class interesting with humor and incorporating the class into the discussion, but the class material is difficult.He has lecture notes on Blackboard, but he does not give study guides.The test questions come from his lecture notes.So just go to class and study notes.

He is a fun and entertaining professor. He makes a boring subject come alive and I always looked forward to going to class. There are four tests, no papers, and no extra credit. He is always available if you have questions and wants you to succeed.

Mr. Quinlan was a great teacher. The material is hard, especially in the first half of the class, but he tries his best to explain it. No study guides, the presentations are on blackboard, and his tests have multiple choice, true/false, and short answers on them. He's really nice and funny and I found him really enjoyable.

Dr. Quinlan is one of the best professors I have ever had. I liked him so much, I'm taking him again. He actually teaches you and truly knows his stuff. I love going to class because his passion for Biology and "nerdiness" make going worthwhile. It's not an easy A though, so if you don't like studying, find another professor.

One of the best prof I have ever had. His lectures are clear and he makes the hardest material understandable. He made 8am feel like 2pm. I wish he taught all my classes. His tests were hard, but as long as you try and study well you can pass. Not easy, but totally worth it.

By far, the best professor I've had at CSUSB. His classes are rarely boring... He'll warn you when boredom is approaching and tries to make it interesting. He encourages questions-- he wants his students to succeed. He's extremely intelligent and really funny. I definitely recommend Dr. Quinlan :)

Professor Quinlan is such a hottie and he is smart too. He makes everything very easy to understand. Explains in english not science. His looks help alot because they keep you focused on him and what he is saying. Wonderful teacher!!! :)

Very cute, intelligent, and nice. Things you need to do to be successful in this class: read the book, take notes, print out the powerpoint, STUDY! He does not give out a study guide for his tests which consists of multiple choice, true/false, and essay.

Very knowledgeable about the subject and keeps lectures interesting that would be boring if taught by someone else. You don't need the book, but you MUST go to class! I got an A and studied only the notes. He puts essay questions on the exam but will tell you in lecture what topics he may use. Great professor, take him if you get a chance!

Excellent teacher! Be prepared for 1 midterm, 2 group presentations, lab quizzes, and the final. You don't need to study for the quizzes but you will for the midterm and final! Tests are multple choice and essay.

Quinlan is the BEST teacher at CSUSB! He is extremely smart and really goes out of his way to make you understand what you are learning. Dr. Quinlan is the best professor I've had in a long time. Although the subject material is a little tough this was my favorite class of the quarter. Dr. Quinlan is great at making potentially boring stuff palatable, has great stories and analogies, is passionate about what he teaches, and is invested in helping his students learn.

Prof. Quinlan is a very easy person to approach and talk to, as well as knowledgeable. The only down side of his sections is he does not provide any study guides and his lecture has so much material. Don't buy the book..he doesnt go by it and says that what he says is important in regards to what will be in the test. so there is no use in buying

Great professor! Explains things very clear to make subject material more understandable and enjoyable. Always willing to help, if you're struggling, utilize his office hours, he's very helpful and easy to talk to. Only downside to him is he doesn't provide a study guide but don't bother with the book, just study off the lectures.

Pros: He's funny & makes lectures interesting, and he is very helpful,he will explain something until you understand it, don't need book, all test questions are based on lecture. CONS: He goes a little too fast, He doesn't give study guides or extra credit and for me, the essay questions on the tests.

My favorite prof in my college experience! He is a great teacher and is very smart. Makes the material easy to relate to. Although there is no study guide, he "hints" at what will be on the exam. I def recommend.

Prof. Quinlan is great! His test format is pretty easy, so not having a study guide isn't a big deal. It's 25 multiple choice, 10 true or false, and 3 short answers (which he'll hint in class, if not ask). Seriously, study his powerpoints and you'll do fine. Overall, he's funny, easy to get along with, very helpful, and has interesting lectures.

Love this class! I have learned so much and I am definitely glad I took this class with him! Attend class so you can better understand concepts but if not, you'll do fine if you READ the chapters. There are no study guides so keep that in mind.

Best professor at CSUSB. He is really good at making difficult material understandable. He is also really helpful. He wants his students to succeed; however, he is not the easiest professor. You must study a LOT for his exams, but if you do, his exams are not that hard. Don't expect an easy A, you have to earn it, but you will learn a LOT from him.

This teacher makes learning tricky biopsych language understandable for the common person. He is very polite, willing to help, and his lectures are filled with a bunch of interesting facts. The classes are enjoyable and I recommend this teacher. My only question before leaving this class is...does he have any single clones of himself? :)

He really explains things in a way that you understand and is always trying to help those that dont understand. His lectures are interesting and the tests are all info from the lectures. I would take another class with him!

He is very helpful, his notes are simple and straight to the point. He makes funny corny jokes that brings life to the class. His test aren't hard they consist of multiple choice and essay questions. He tells you which will be essay questions! and hes HOT! very nice to look at =]

Dr. Quinlan as of now has taken the number one slot for greatest professor. He’s not the easiest prof. however he tries very hard to simplify the material so that you can understand it. He is very helpful and welcomes students to ask questions. Exams are not hard, no study guides, just study power points. Oh, and he is ordinary looking not “hot”.

He is a great professor. Is always trying to simplify the material because he understands biology is not for everyone. He always has a couple of weird questions on his exam but they are still manageable. Plus, he is super helpful and good looking!

He should mentor other professors because his teaching style/ability is above and beyond most of his peers.

He is an excellent professor, my favorite! I've taken several of his courses & have learned so much. As several others have stated, he makes course material clear and interesting. Sure he doesn't offer a study guide, but the exam comes directly off the ppts! He offered the textbook as optional and I found it to be very helpful. Take him if you can!

His class was challenging, nonetheless he always offered help and took his time to explain complex concepts and answer questions. By far, he has been one of the best professsors I have had. I recommend him, and yes, he is cute.

Lectures are easy to follow. Exams are not cumulative. Essay questions are basically free 18 points if you study lectures and learn the material. Read MC and T/F questions carefully. He will throw out a question if majority of the students get it wrong.

You'll work in the same group for the lab activities & 2 article presentations. Tip: Rent the lab book & split the costs. Rarely stayed the whole lab time (1-2 times total). You'll come up with a fake experiment & write your research paper on that, which Quinlan will be super helpful with. 2 tests, same style as his other classes.

He was a great professor who taught a very interesting class. He was very helpful and nice as well. The exams are not easy so study hard for the four of them and you'll do fine with the course. I'd recommend him to anyone.

If you're looking for an elective class or want to peek your interest in biopsych, then Drugs & Behavior is a MUST TAKE! I genuinely like all of Quinlan's classes but this one was by far the most interesting! You learn so much (marijuana, cocaine, fun stuff) & it's relatable. He also has guest lectures. Overall, fun, interactive, & interesting.

He's a very cool dude. He made the class very interesting. The class was supposed to be a seminar, and unlike most professors, he actually made it a seminar He expects and encourages class participation which I liked. He's funny and is good at relating the material to the real world.

Yes Professor Q is theeee best Bio Psych professor ever! Definitely NOT boring. Seriously just attend class and you should AT LEAST get a B! No study guides or extra credit except for test questions. Listen for "I will ask you this on the test!" :) His classes aren't hard you just have to actually wanna be a student and study!

Yes, he was VERY good- looking! This exam's are a bit tough (which require lots of studying), included are multiple choice, truefalse, and 3 of 6 short answer questions. He does care for his students, he remembers your name, and he presents the lectures in plain English rather than fancy biopsyc language. I enjoyed his class, would take him again.

Prof. Quinlan is very clear when it comes to lectures. He explains in detail and uses stories as examples which will help you remember the concepts for the test. He is a very good prof he really wants you to learn! The test are not hard as long as you understand the lectures and review them. One of the best psych teacher at CSUSB. Take him!

His test are based on his power points and although they're all on black board it helps to go to class because sometimes he talks about things n makes it into an extra credit question on the test. He doesn't give any other type of extra credit but the class is easy as long as you study the power points!

Best Professor I've ever taken!!! He's so intriguing and makes lectures so clear! So helpful and gives you what you need to know. Both Drugs & Behavior and Bio Psyc are tough, but if you apply the concepts and study you'll definitely get an A!

Very cute and entertaining but lectures are always long and never lets you out early. The book helps his lack of being specific but he's really funny.

I was so scared to take a class that had "developmental psychobiology" as its title. Prof Quinlan is amazing though, he's clear and concise and explains the material in a way that everyone can understand. There are no study guides but his exams are basically everything that's on the PowerPoints. And he's very attractive so that's a plus :)

I was scared to take this class class, but it was not bad as I thought. He has 4 exams, which consists multiple choice, T or F, and short answers. Literally you can get easy points on T or F questions and short answers, but the multiple choice questions are tricky. You should study ahead of time for this class since he does not offer a study guide.

Prof Quinlan is one of the best professors I have ever had, granted I have been to three colleges including SBCC and UCSB. He expects a lot but if you take notes and review notes and power point slides for exam you will get an A. Never read the book and I got an A.

He's amazing. His lectures are super interesting and he put all the slides online. Class isn't mandatory, but you should attend because he goes into depth a lot more and gives great examples. Also, if you ever need help just approach him or go to his office hours he explains it even more.

My only complaint is he never gives you a study guide and has three essay questions on his tests. If you don't pay attention to lecture, you miss the random hints he gives you for all four of his exams. Nice professor, but not an easy course.

I absolutely fell in love with this class. Dr. Quinlan is very approachable and truly facilitates lectures. Quinlan is an awesome teacher because he understands the process of learning, which means he makes sure to go over material in multiple way and help you learn. He dumbs down neuroscience so psyc/hd majors can slide by. He is kind. All grades depend on exams mostly, which are not difficult if you study his lecture slides. 1 easy A written assignment

Professor Quinlin is an amazing instructor, his tests are hard, however, if you attend class and pay attention you will pass. He doesn't provide a study guide but he makes the info easy to learn and very interesting. He is very humorous and enjoys class input. There are 4 tests (t/f, multiple choice, & 3 short questions) and one reaction paper.

He makes you read ahead of time as it would make it easier to understand the context of the material but 95% of his test questions are straight off from his PowerPoints and lectures. Semi-hard class so attendance is a must! His stories are quiet funny too. Overall a very nice professor.

He is an awesome professor his side stories are funny his exams are hard but if you study his lecture slides you shall pass. The material is super interesting and he makes it enjoyable. If anything is annoying its the girls who sit in a corner gush over him and laugh at all his jokes in class this really happens... but yeah totally recommend him!!

Great professor that keeps the class interesting, engaging, and fun. I'm not even a PSYC major, but I had to take this class during the summer, as a filler, to graduate with over 180 units. I took him for Drugs & Behavior and so far it's been very interactive and laid back. He does care about his students too. If you work for him, he'll help you.

I enjoyed his lectures... he kept it entertaining and answered our questions with examples to make sure we understood as a class. It's important to read the textbook before class and to study the study guide he gives out, especially for the essay questions on the exams.
