Was a very cool guy and put out a lot of effort for his students to understand the material. He gave good study guides for tests too.

Excellent professor. Makes classes fun and very informative. I learned so much in this class and would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone looking into filling general ed requirements in FACS.

Matt was a great professor. He cared about how much the student learned. His tests weren't too bad because he gave great reviews and study guides. I'd recommend him for sure.

This is a hard subject but he is definitely making it more interesting and easier to understand! I would definitely recommend him for future classes!!

This was a great class that I really learned a lot from. If you attend class and take the notes(which he gives you on WebCT) then you shouldn't have any trouble getting a high grade. He was always fair, taught his subject well, and made the class a lot of fun. Highly recommended GE!

Very good teacher, especially if you like Strongbad e-mails. Very funny, good lectures with powerpoint slideshows, and a great class overall. I learned a lot and loved it.

Matt is one of the best teachers at SUU and one of the nicest people in the world. He is always willing to let students come into his office and talk about anything. He is very willing to help if you need it. If students due poorly on his tests, he wonders what he is doing wrong.(If you notice- he will never wear the same shirt twice!)

Professor Schmidt is so awesome! You will never leave his class without a smile on your face he is that funny. Plus, the youtube videos he shows at the beginning of class are always awesome. However, the material can be challenging. He helps as much as he can, but his tests are still worded tricky. However, you can do fine if you just try.

He is a fantastic teacher! Always keeps class interesting, and really applies the material to our own lives. His grading system is great as well, he doesn't test on anything he doesn't talk about in class, and he has daily "clicker points" that just help your grade, not hurt it. I'd definitely recommend his class!

Professor Schmidt is extremely helpful and sweet to students! He is my favorite professor that I've had in the science department. Definitely take him!

Schmidt is my favorite professor so far at SUU. He is awesome, and I definitely reccommend him! My two tips would be 1) go to class, and 2) go to office hours... even if you don't need a lot of help! He is so fun to just talk to, and will check over your assignments, or upload a recorded lecture. Not to mention he's pretty good looking!

Matt is probably my most favorite teacher here at SUU so far. He is such a funny guy! You never leave his class without a smile on your face and in a happier mood than when you came. Schmidt is such a great teacher! He addresses all learning styles in lecture so it's easier to learn. (Not to mention he's a funny guy!) Make sure you go to class! Everything on the test is in lecture. If you study what you went over in class for tests and do all the work, it's pretty easy to get an A. I recommend him to everyone!

Great professor, he makes the class fun keeping you engaged. If you show up to class, take notes, and follow along it is not hard to pass. His tests however are difficult. He says he isn't trying to trick you but he kind of does, although if you study intensely enough you shouldn't have a problem. Encourages attending office hours.

He's hilarious. He'd show us funny movies before the class every day. He's very concerned and he wants you to do the very best. Very helpful.

LOVE LOVE LOVE. Would totally be friends with him outside of school! He is the most friendly and helpful prof at SUU. Shows funny videos at the beginning of class just for fun. GO to his office hours and get to know him. He's an AWESOME person! And wants to help you in any way he can with whatever you want. Wish he could teach all of my classes!!!!

He is a great guy. He teaches the information very well. There is a lot of information in the courses. His tests are pretty tough and he really challenges his students. If you ever need help don't be afraid to ask. He is one of the best teachers I had at SUU.

Super fun and upbeat professor! I learned so much, and actually had a significant amount of weight loss during this semester. He is passionate and knowledgeable about the subject matter. Homework is minimal and easy, tests are minimal but hard. I think he has a weird obsession with legumes, and he never wears the same adidas jacket.-

He is a great teacher for 1020. Absolutely hate my 4020 class. His lectures suck and tests are do-able, but be prepared to study for hours on end. He tests on stuff he barely talked about in class and expects you to know every ounce of information in his brain. Seriously. TAKE NOTES IN HIS LECTURE. and record it!

Print out the lectures and bring them to class. You will need to fill them out in class. Do not skip class or you'll miss important information. Stay on top of your grade, Don't rely on Canvas for final grade and don't ask him, he doesn't care! He is not flexible with his office hours. Attendance isn't mandatory but you get points for using your clicker in class. Really nice guy always helpful when I needed it when I stopped by during office hours. Always asked how I was doing when he saw me around the building. You can pass without the textbook if you attend class and pay attention. Funny guy highly recommend A+ +

I loved this class! It is difficult to get a good grade but if you are a good student who shows up, takes good notes, and participates in class it is easy to pass. Another reason why I loved this class and professor is because he is so passionate about the subject and really prepares you for future classes.

He is the reason why I have decided to get a minor in nutrition, he makes the lecture fun and entertaining and is willing to help out, as long as you put in some effort. I do think he is a great guy, no textbook needed and his exams are all based on power points therefore attendance is a must.

However, you have to come to class, take good notes, and the tests are hard. There was only about 4 or 5 homework assignments the whole semester though.

This professor deserves the best review. He was by far my favorite this semester! He just really knows what hes teaching and cares about the students trying to learn it. Hes very creative with his lectures and always held my interest. He offered to do personal nutrition goals with me but sadly left during the semester due to health issues.

And is always willing to answer random questions throughout class. He is very caring as well. If you participate he will LOVE you. His tests can be a bit hard so just study and use his study guides!

Although his class is harder, if youre trying to go into nutrition this is a class you need to really know the information. He has practice quizzes to help out for the tests and if you need any additional help he is fully willing to help. The lectures are entertaining and taking good notes is a must, but I really enjoyed this class.

This professor deserves everything and more. He deeply values students and cares a lot. If you have a concern talk to him. He will push you in the best way possible. I would take every class for the rest of my college career from him if I could. You should study for his class, but at least it is worth it. He will help you and believe in you!

Schmidt was my favorite professor this semester. Lectures were interesting, he's super funny, and I learned so much. Very helpful if you have assignment questions. For tests he is very clear on what will be on them and I found it useful to make flashcards. Schmidt is a genuine guy and wants everybody to learn something about better nutrition.

I don't know how a professor that could be any better to be honest! If you have the chance to have him as a professor, you won't regret it. I always looked forward to his class, and he prepares students really well for the tests.

He cares about his students, hard to get into his limited office hours. Tests are extremely hard. Will try to trick you. I've studied around 15 hours per test and get in the mid 80's. Frustrating, tons of material, but prepares you very well for graduate school. Will leave you feeling defeated. You will work hard for a good grade, no matter what.

Taking a class with Prof. Schmidt was a growing experience. His tests are long, and you have to be good with words and understanding to do well. Sometimes he's a bit 'scary' but he's mostly laidback and super fun. Ask him questions and seek help from him. He thrives the most when his students interact in class with him, otherwise, he gets cranky.

Schmidt is great! You do have to work hard, this is an upper-division class, just because it is nutrition does not mean it is not hard. Schmidt cares deeply about your success and dedication to the material. He will make you laugh every day. You always know what is test worthy and he is very transparent about grading and exams.

Study because tests can be tricky but he always lets you know what is test worthy. You get points just for taking the quiz regardless of what you score.Your final will replace your lowest exam score if it is higher

Super funny and passionate professor! Takes the time to meet with all the nutrition majors 1 on 1 and get to know who is in the nutrition major! Super knowledgeable about nutrition, makes his lectures as clear as he can. Not a lot of assignments, but can make it more difficult because grade is really dependent on the tests, tests are hard.

If you're looking for a class that is easily digestible and is fairly memorable, this is the class for you. While I took this class as a GE, I was pleasantly surprised by how interesting it was. Mr. Schmidt is funny and creates plenty of helpful resources for students who might have difficulty retaining information. Just don't talk during lectures.

Schmidt was so scary to me on my first day, but he's a softie. Most of your grade comes from tests, so the best way to prep is understanding the concept - not just memorizing definitions. Highly recommend to the students who know how to keep up and ask questions.
