I have always loved math. His class is easy, but not one of my easiest classes and professors. He is helpful. He tries to make jokes, but some arent funny. He gives help and bonuses. He tries to make the class easy. You have to do the homework, its for a grade. He prepares you for exams.
I hate math, so this class was tuff for me...However, i went to every class did good on quizes, labs, and did most of my homework walking away with a c! Matt's a nice guy and held many review sessions.
He does quite a few examples, which is good, but tends to throw all the theorems at you at once. He is a stickler for mathmatical notation and will take points off for tiny mistakes on quizzes and tests. The tests aren't hard and only the top ten quizzes (which are all take-home) out of 30 count. He was not helpful at all during office hours.
Extremely helpful and always available for help. Grades tests and quizzes that day so there is no wait or anticipation to see what you got. Best teacher for math 156 from what i hear.
This is a very hard class, but Matt does a VERY good job teaching it. He gives you plenty of quizzes (take home)so you have time to get an A on them.
Very helpful! I suggest taking him if you have the chance for any math course.
Matt is an awesome instructor. He will help anytime it's needed, and is very thorough and complete when explaining the work and knowledgable. I would take him for any Calculus or above course. He was an Electrical Engineering major who decided to teach Math. He makes it easy to pass the class, as long as you give him a little effort.
hes a bum dont take this class
Matt is a wonderful math teacher! He is extremely helpful and has lots of study sessions to help you learn the material. He seems kind of mean at first but he's really nice once you get to know him.
The tests where somewhat hard, but there are lots of at home quizzes and u get a lot of attendance points. What I hated the most was the teacher. He went through things to fast and if u asked for explaination her just said "look in the book." Rude!
He's a very good teacher, pretty funny, VERY anal about attendance, so go to class. It's a pretty challenging class, especially if you don't like math, like myself.
Honestly, the worst math teacher I have had in my entire life. He doesn't teach the material, he shows one example and moves on regardless if people know what he's talking about or not. First two Exams had a class average of 64% and 62%. Definitely not getting my money's worth, and if possible, try not to get this teacher.
He does not go slow in class at all. He only uses abbreviations when writing on the board while taking notes. If you have to have him as a teacher i recommend going to class(to get the points) and then just looking over the sections he talks about in class in the book and teach it to yourself
Easy class, he goes really fast but if you're decent at math you will pass. Never talked to him one on one, mainly because he seems like a jerk.
I thought he was a really easy teacher. Just go to class and get attendance points and take the quizes and look up the answers either in the book or online, Very Easy! Also test are just as easy. when going into the lab pull up your test and then pull up your quizes from that section and some of the questions are there. Easy class, recommended.
He's SO HARD. He only does one example and talks way too fast. He is really nice and funny, but if you aren't good at math he's way too hard.
Pretty good teacher. However, his notes didn't really help too much with the online quizzes. He always had a bunch of helpful reviews when exams were coming up and answered questions if they were asked. Takes attendance every day for points.
Best math teacher I've ever had! Just go to class and pay attention and you'll do fine. He was very helpful if you asked questions and wanted you to understand the material.
he's a good teacher, but if you're not good at math, you may not do very well. however, he gives you many chances for extra credit and really seems to care that you do well in his class. an added bonus is that he's hilarious and cute as can be.
His teaching of the material is fine, but his grading is beyond insane. The tests were not about knowing the concepts of the material taught, but seemed to be about formatting everything exactly how he wanted it, and him searching for little ways to take off unnecessary points. There was not enough time to take the tests. He mocked students.
One of the best teachers I've had for any subject. His teaching was easy to understand while still thorough. His tests for Integrals and Volume were on the long side of things, but the rest were easy. WVU needs more teachers like him.
He is very arrogant, and rude. His grading is bogus, looks at every way possible to take off points. On my last lab he couldn?t let a 100 pass so I received a 99.75. He lies about the extra credit and if you confront him its WW3! I would take another section because this will be a D/F repeat!
It's a hard class but he gives every oppertunity for extra credit. Go to his office hours before each test and he will go over everything and do examples for any question you have, all he asks for is some effort out of class or he gets frustrated really easy and will make you go home and learn some of the material
My least favorite teacher. He does not teach well he is arrogant and he will go out of his way to fail you, as opposed to helping you pass.
He is a very difficult teacher. He teaches as if the material is a review for you. His tests are a lot harder than what he goes over in class. His grading is impossible. He is arrogant, and he brags about failing students. Avoid taking this section with him at all costs, because you will get a D or an F.
I think he was a good teacher, funny. You have to do the HW out of the book if you want to pass. The Quiz's are easy if you do the HW, and they have some of the exact questions on the Exams. I dont know yeah every one dislikes him so much. You just have to do the work and stop being lazy! It's Math, common.
i hate him. he is so arrogant and will just stare at you with the dumbest face like he is trying to intimidate you. worst math teacher i have ever had. do not take him if you do not have to
He is very unapproachable and acts really arrogant. I think he does it so people will be too intimidated to ask him questions while he's teaching. And when people do ask questions, he usually just stares at them for a long time and then treats them really condescendingly.
He's a pretty good teacher, he is very arrogant, but the stuff he teaches at least makes sense. This was the easiest class I've taken in college, the tests are all really easy, I got 95% or 100% on all of them. As long as you go to class and pay attention there's no reason you should get anything less than an A.
he is stuck in his own world and comes off being intimating before class he ask questions and comments but every one is scared of what other people think out them and if you try to ask him a question he stares at you like you are a idiot for asking him a question and rush though how to do it and end up being more confused than when you started off
He is an okay teacher. He is unapproachable and he isnt very kind. when he responds to emails he doesnt like to be happy. its awful. i didnt like how we had to attend class and how he kept us for five minutes after class ended.
Matthew Schraeder is the worst teacher I have ever had the misfortune of choosing! His teaching methods are slow and long which will but even an A+ student to sleep. He is a heartless creature that you can't approach with a question. His makes jokes at other students expense and will treat you equally as bad. In HS i was an A student and I got a D
He is a great teacher. I am not a math person and got an A in his class. He is available for office hours and if very helpful if you go to them. His humor is a little different but I dont think he is trying to be mean. He wants his students to be involved in the class so thats why he does that.
One of the easiest teachers ever. He hands out work sheets you do in class on mondays. These sheets literally teach you how to do everything. I didnt study for the first test got a 70 and then studied for the rest and got all 90's and above. guy can be funny. Do not talk in his class or leave early he will smite you. Overall B+ rating
He is a horrible professor! I went from getting A's in high school to failing. Now barely passing. I highly recommend to avoid having him in general.
Great instructor, very thorough. Always available to help if you ask. Corny but cute sense of humor. Class average was low, but in my opinion, not a reflection on him since most students barely pay attention. He expects respect in the classroom (as he should!) and is quick to put people in their place if acting up. Firm teacher, but effective.
The difficulty is more in the class itself on my end, He is a decent guy when you talk to him, but definitely tries to make you angry. The tests were difficult, the final was 20 questions and was the most difficult final I have taken. I liked the him, but the class was a pain. He taught the material well, but it is a ton of material.
He is such a hard grader. It makes me want to not try because I know that I will not get full credit for just about anything. He is nice and attendance is bonus but his tests are hard and he grades way too hard.
He's not a bad teacher, he shows many examples and explains all of the concepts thoroughly. The class is pretty difficult though because it covers so much stuff. Attendance is HUGE in his eyes, go to class! Show up, do the homework, study and you'll definitely get at least a B.
Pretty good professor. Lectures are very clear, and he has a good sense of humor. If you do all of the recommended problems from the book, tests are extremely easy. Labs are graded a bit harshly, but they don't effect the grade that much. Most of my lab grades were in the 70s but I still have an A in the class.
He is Very clear in lectures. He does grade hard and come off as unpleasant. Those who are having difficulty have not made an attempt to go to his office hours. He will always be at office hours and is very good at explaining what needs fixed. Not a bad professor.
I did not like him at all, all in class notes did not pertain to the tests or quizzes. He expects you to pick up on everything right away. High school i went from As in math to a C. DONT TAKE IT WITH HIM
Labs were graded by a lab assistant = not cool. I got a 95 and 100% on every test- the labs pulled me down to a B in the class. But, if you go to class and do the online quizzes, the tests are crazy easy. Everyone says he's mean- he IS NOT! his humor is sarcastic- I think he's funny and super nice! I would recommend him !! Just be careful in lab !
Worst teacher ever. Not helpful. Only did some examples and did not explain them well at all. Weird clothing and paced back and forth before lab and the TA's in the lab were not helpful either. Only one actually was willing to help/ could speak english
I saw all the review on here and got so nervous but I promise he's an awesome teacher! He wants you to do well you just need to put in some effort he gave 45 points of extra credit this semester that were like online surveys. He means well with his nerdy bad joke and he wants everyone to do well and will always help you if you need it!
Was very good at explaining how equations worked and where they came from. Made sure everybody was on the same page before moving on. If help was needed he would be there to help. I enjoyed the class overall.
He spends too much time explaining the improper ways to solve problems. There are days where you will spend half of class taking notes only to find out that what he just explained was irrelevant. He is very enthusiastic, but his tests are too difficult to pass.
Schraeder made me absolutely despise math, not that it was my favorite to begin with. At first he seems funny in a quirky way and nice, but he's not. His lame jokes and obsession with 80's movies just becomes irritating. HE DOESN'T TEACH, just assumes you already know the material. If math isn't your very best subject don't take his class!
Go to his office and take notes. Not just on the math stuff though. He often makes up trivia questions for extra credit that you can figure out if you where observant and visited his office a few times. At any rate, he is very well organized and presents the curriculum as clearly and concisely as the subject demands.
You get attendance points, so you have to be there. There's only 3 tests & a final which were very easy. There was a quiz before every test which was a good tool for studying. The homework online was terrible. It's due every Sunday & it would take hours. It's a lot harder than anything in this course. The teacher was really annoying. not recommend
Difficult class. I got an A, but only cause I made it my life that semester. Schrader's a pretty good teacher. He always takes questions and is good about explaining if anything's unclear. And he's there if you need him, will answer emails, etc. Makes his tests super tough though. Only recommend if you're hard core into math.
Labs were tough. Told jokes in class.
Many people complain about him being mean, but if you respect him, show up to class, and do the work, you won't have any problems. His jokes are super cheesy, but equally hilarious. This course had online homework problems, which seem like a pain to do, but are very helpful when it comes test time. He is also always willing to answer questions.
Schraeder was one of my favorite professors. He is super good at explaining things in a way that's easy to interpret and is willing to repeat techniques until everyone understands. Always offered extra credit and reviews before exams. Homework was a lot of work though.
Honestly did not like him as a professor. Never lets class out early not even a minute. homework counts for a huge deal of the grade. But the practice exams REALLY help to study for exams they're almost all the same questions. attendance is mandatory, you swipe in and sign your name. if you leave early hell call u out.
Super helpful outside of class. If you show that you care he's completely willing to help. Took the time to help me one on one through an entire homework assignment I was struggling with. Seems a little scary but it's mostly to get people to pay attention. lots of homework, if you study exams aren't too bad.
Schraeder is awesome. He has a really good sense of humor and is very personable. He's so knowledgable and is really good at explaining the material in class. As long as you actually go to class, you'll do well. Don't bother buying/renting a textbook because I never even opened mine.
The absolute worst professor I have ever had. He's incredibly rude and was hard to understand. His lectures were boring to me, as well. Skip class one day and I feel like you won't pass. I had asked him a couple questions and he was rude to me so I just left it at that and went on. If I could give less than 1 star, I would have!
Hard grader, expects a lot from students. Thinks everyone understands it the first time he goes over it. Threw chalk at the board once and had a little tantrum because people were packing their stuff two minutes before class was supposed to be over. Thinks he's hilarious but really isn't. Don't take him if you can.
BEST MATH PROF YOU'LL FIND TRUST ME
Do not take this guy, he is one of the worse teachers in the math department.
Schraeder has a bad rep and I feel like people dont like him because of what they hear. He is strict, Hates when people leave class early, and a tough grader on labs. Despite all that, he is a great teacher. He reveiws a lot and really does want to make sure the students understand material. HW is easy and exams aren't bad.
I feel like rather than explaining how he gets answers, he expects you to catch on, then is sarcastic with his responses when you ask how he done something. I personally would not take him again. I didnt like his class at all.
You could get an answer correct, but because you did the problem a different way when you worked it out, hes take 9 points away, leaving you with 1 point for that problem.
I never was good at math. I went to him for help and asked him to dumb it down when he explained it to me when I went to office hours he didn't. He is a nice guy outside of class. But in class he is very sarcastic.
He made this class harder than it needed to be. The labs were graded harshly, his attitude was poor, and he would always teach too fast and up to the last minute. If anyone left early, he would call roll again and hand out pop quizzes. For the sake of your grade and sanity, just don't take Schraeder. He will help you during office hours though!
This was one of my least favorite professors. I would recommend against taking him. I had the lab as well, and the labs were graded way too harsh. He knew what he was talking about, but the rest of us didn't so he flew through material without making sure we understood the material. Tests weren't too bad and attendance was bonus.
He gives lots of opportunities to ask questions so if you don't understand something after a while, that's your own fault. TA grades labs extremely harsh. You'll do ok as long as you pay attention in class and remember to do the homework and quizzes. He tried to be funny sometimes and have a good time, which was appreciated.
Awful teacher. Put more time into this class than my capstone course and still only got a B. Very tantrum prone, very immature and goes way too fast through the material without explaining it.
Schraeder is tough and explains material the most complicated way possible. Also explains things that dont need to be explained, which can be confusing when trying to study. Also, labs are graded very harsh so make sure you go to class and get the 10 bonus points, it may save your grade.
The best math lecture I have had. The professor is awesome and smart. He is ready to help and answer any questions. He has a sense of humor. In addition, he encourages the students to answer during the lecture. I highly recommended.
He is fhe best math professor ever! I never got bored during his class and I enjoyed it alot. If you need any help you can always email him of go to his office, he is really helpful.
Many people don't appreciate him because he wants his students to genuinely learn the material instead of just teaching from the tests. He's very lecture heavy but by doing the homework thoroughly and studying for the exams you can do well! He's funny in a dorky way! You can tell he cares for his students as he tries to refer to them by name.
He doesnt treat the class as if the students are forced to be there to get their pre requisites. He is super picky with how you learn the material and wont help much if ask a question about something in lecture because we went over it already. If you arent crazy about math then take another professor if possible.
Thinks hes funny- hes not. Gets angry if someone leaves class (will yell at them in front of lecture) overall bad person do not recommend
Dr. Shraeder is one of the worst professors I have had at WVU. If you struggle with math at all, find someone else to take if at all possible. He goes too fast in lectures and doesn't care if you understand or not
even if you're a genius, you wont pass, he is the fastest lecturer and doesn't care if his students pass or not no matter how hard they try. 90% of the stuff on the exams will be things you've never learned before. hard pass, choose another professor.
Awful teacher, but if you go to tutoring and take time to study you can pass.
This professor goes through material way too quickly, expecting students to have already learned it beforehand. Gives lab reports that have little to do with the content in class, and the TA grades them harshly. Acts rude towards students and doesn't accommodate those who struggle with math. Take another professor if at all possible.
He is a very caring and funny professor. His jokes might not be funny at times, but its so he can learn about his students on a more personal level. He knows all students by name, and makes sure everyone throughly understands the material. He assigns no homework but quizzes and tests, but you wont pass if you don't do some personal book work.
Great guy, cares a lot about his students, not hard to do well in this class. There is extra credit opportunities for the homework and exams. Grades are usually curved. Go to class and do the homework and you'll do fine. It isn't hard.
Schraeder, is a really genius person he could explain anything to you from basic math to calc 4, though, you need to work for your grade as he does not curve grades even if the average is really low, study for every quiz and test. Every point counts I was 0.23 from an A, also he rounds down not up.
Schrader is an amazing teacher. His teaching style is all examples and really goes into depth about each problem. He really cares if you are understanding the material so if your confused ask him questions and he will gladly answer them. The quizzes are the most challenging so be sure to study hard for those. Go to class and do your homework!
Dr. Schraeder is a little weird, but super intelligent when it comes to trig. He tries to give you examples that relate to the real world and if you don't understand something he's more than willing to go over it again. The final is worth like 30% of your overall grade so beware of that and he takes attendance every single day without fail.
For a man that has a degree in education he cannot teach. Very test heavy and is not very helpful. Expects you to do a lot of outside work. Doesnt put in the effort to get to know his students and how they learn just teaches how he wants to . If you like engaging lectures where you learn dont take his class, very boring lectures.
For an easy class, he made it very difficult and unpleasant; The structure of the class lacks logic, feels like it was made to make life harder. Supposedly he has a degree in education but he is one of those teachers who makes you hate math rather than enjoy it. Tough grader!!
Schraeder made me hate math again after taking 153 and ending with a 95%. His grading doesn't reflect his directions and he took off SO much partial credit for stupid things like formatting or shorthand even with proper work circled or boxed in. Had to put in an academic dispute because he tried to fail me. Do NOT take him if you're not meticulous.
Good guy, makes a lot of funny jokes and refrences during class. But, besides this not a fan. He is a very tough teacher. Few information or in class examples to base homework off of. He doesn't really cover most of the material well, he just does examples and expects you to be able to plug numbers in without understanding how these work together.
I've got to say Dr. Schraeder does what he can to help students in the class. but if you do the homework early, you get extra credit on Mondays. also do the in-class activities, exercise sets from the book, you'll do fine on the exam to be confident with the materials covered overall.
Dr. Schraeder was a great prof. His lectures were very interactive and he gave many examples that were in the exams. The course was quite difficult, but he was very willing to help with any questions or struggles that I had. He was very accessible and answered my emails within 30 minutes each time.
Very very fast paced professor. I would look down at my paper to write what he had just written, but then when I look up to copy the second line, he would have 5 diagrams on the chalkboard already along with the words, "Have fun in debt" in the bottom right corner. (entirely joking about the last part lol). But still, speed is key in this class.
Schraeder's class was by no means easy unless you know trig. I never took a formal trig class in high school, so I didn't have the foundational knowledge. That said, I learned so much from this class. If you do the homework early, 25% extra credit on the assignment, which was a lifesaver! He works fast during lecture, but he answers all questions!
The material was okay to understand, his note taking process is very unorganized and bad though, sometimes not even relating to the WebAssign homework. The exams were very poorly designed. The extra credit on WebAssign is nice though, I would definitely recommend working ahead to get that 25% bonus on the homework.
The Professor does what he can to help the students out. Also has a very good sense of humor. He often relates math to the real world and which often makes me laugh. He does this because he means well and wants students to succeed in class. some students in the past says he is mean which he is really not. if you do what's expected you'll be fine.
Very intelligent professor who is great at speaking and presenting material, and very open to answering questions and making sure you understand. He is also quite funny. However, he is quite the harsh grader and you'd often lose like 33% or 50% of an entire problem's score for forgetting to put down something irrelevant while showing your work.
On the first day Dr. Schraeder said that Calc 4 is his favorite class to teach, and it shows. Most of the class is lecture and example problems, and there is usually a "Quiz" due before each class. The material is straight forward and the tests are very fair. He offers a lot of bonus opportunities and is always making jokes. A solid choice!
I had Dr. Schraeder for my freshman math class, and it was a struggle. He never really helped in class other than at the end of the semester as everything was all on ALEKS but even a simple question, I was completely ignored. Overall, he was easy since the class was all on ALEKS, but dumb to make it mandatory since I could just do it in my dorm.
Dr. Schraeder, while being a good guy, made me want to tear my hair out at times. Most of his notes consist of examples where, while doing homework, you need to decipher how they work in order to properly understand. In addition, I was sometimes left perplexed as there were problems on the homework that I had no clue how to do as I was not taught.
Very harsh professor, lectures were very unorganized & sped through. Lectures don't relate fully to homework given & the grading on tests was brutal. Overall very harsh and unforgiving.
He's a terrible, unfair person. Exams were 70% of the grade. There's lots of homework with extra credit if you do it early. He gives academic dishonesty charges for nothing. Go to tutoring if you want to pass. The exams are hard. He rushes during lecture, and it has nothing to do with the homework. Do every extra credit you can to save your grade.
Please do better by your students, WVU. Guy has a total chip on his shoulder and doesn't want anyone to pass his classes. His videos are from other youtube professors, doesn't answer questions plainly, and just very unfriendly. He flies through lessons impossibly fast, his lectures don't match homework/quizzes, and is a super harsh grader. AVOID!
He speeds through lectures, he's a groundless grader. Avoid the professor at all cost
He's a master at steering questions in a direction that is detrimental to the student. The class feels more about him than the student. However, at face value, his lectures are really good and he a great explainer. Unfortunately, he just doesn't really know how to react when a student questions him or his methods.
Dr. Schraeder moves at a college pace, and he fully expects content to be at least looked at before class along with some understanding of the lecture for the day. Go to class, take notes, do the homework early for EC, and don't get behind and an A is easily achievable. Also, take 128 in person. If you took trig in high school, you'll be fine.
Attendance is mandatory, very strict about that. Only runs through problems in class, doesn't spend too much time answering questions or going in depth about the problems he's doing, but if you pay attention and do the homework it's not too difficult. Tests can be a little difficult, but if you do the work outside class you can get good grades
this man has an extremely condescending manner to him and will make you nervous to approach or email. I had his online class and a lot of the material we were tested on wasn't covered in the notes that he reuses from covid. He is a very harsh grader.
Harsh grader on grounds that make no sense
Not a good teacher. Goes way too fast, is condescending, terrible handwriting makes it hard to follow along, Ecampus videos are structured in the worst way possible, he does not articulate trivial yet crucial steps in solving problems. Not everyone can clearly see what is going.
This man is awful, not only is he terrible at teaching the content, he is rude, arrogant, and aggressive. If you question him he snaps at you wether its in person or over an email. He gives attempting points but then takes them away if he didn't like the way you attempted the problem. If you can, never take a class with him.
Dr. Schraeder should be teaching higher level courses. For a trigonometry course(a lower level math course), he moves way too fast and doesn't care if students have any understand of the material. That being said, if you complete the activities and homework, you learn a lot of the class on your own.
This professor by far is the most awful teacher I have had yet. I cannot describe how many times I cried over this class. At one point, I had a panic attack because one of our exams was only 3 questions. Be prepared to get an academic integrity violation for doing nothing. :)
The class is very fast-paced and hard to learn with his teaching style. You will have to teach yourself if you can't keep up. Not very approachable either. Passive aggressive.
His "lectures" consist of him doing a problem while you watch him. It makes zero sense. The homework is never what he went over in class. The homework takes HOURS. He is rude. He has screamed at the class multiple times for no one knowing what they're doing (which is his fault. Just get another professor unless your a math genius.
He is a very nice professor, he just speaks and goes through work very fast which is difficult.
Although I thought Mr.Schraeder was a decent teacher, I was better off watching YouTube for all the topics. He has activities every class that must be completed before a certain time on the same day of class. He likes to brag about everything he has done in his life like we all give a damn and he's very rude. Do anything you can not to have him.
All he does is do problems while we watch and does not explain anything. You have to teach yourself the units by watching the videos on youtube.
This class was easy for me and I enjoyed it. However, if math is not your strong suit I would suggest someone else because the other comments are correct on teaching style. He is very fast-paced and flies through the material.
Good teacher, corny jokes but I laughed. Easy concepts taught well and very easy to answer/ask questions. Gives good and encouraging feedback if a mistake is made.
Probably one of the worst professors I've ever had. Class isn't too bad, he's just not a friendly guy. If your his student he does not care about you.
Dr. Schraeder is an excellent professor. He cares about his job, and he cares about his students. His class is not easy. Tests are important, homework and quizzes weekly, but if you put the work in and listen to his lectures, he is a very fair professor and a good guy overall.
As someone who is not naturally good at math, I definitely had to put in extra effort to be prepared for his exams, but he is a good professor if you pay attention and write down the examples. Really nice and approachable in person but he can be condescending over email. He never misses attendance grades and make sure to read his emails fully.
This class is very fast paced and explanations are lacking making it difficult to understand new material. Instructional quality suffered from prioritizing quantity of problems over ensuring students comprehension of the material. Your grade heavily weighs on exams, including one exam with only 3 questions. Feedback on exams is minimal.
Confusing, unclear, and low communication. It was facilitated but still.
He's genuinely the best math prof I've ever had. His method of teaching is less memorization & more knowing what you're doing and why. He's super approachable and can pinpoint where someone's thought process is/where they might have gone wrong. He cares if you care about your grade/participate. Ask questions during lecture & do the homework early.
Horrible professor who almost ruined my experience at WVU. I would never want to take a class with him again. Beware, because he tries to find ways to give students' academic integrity in every way possible. He is a very strict grader and gives hard tests that we learned little knowledge about. If you have the option, do not take his class.
Dr. Schraeder is okay and nice. He gives you examples, but sometimes they don't help as much with the homework. The homework questions will be more advanced than the examples in class. I know he only has so much time to do examples in lecture, I just wish they were more diverse like the ones on the homework. The exams are a lot like the homework.
He over complicates everything. He is not very understanding. His teaching style is awful. He's typically late to class. Not a fan
Trigonometry doesn't seem like it'd be a hard subject in and of itself, but the way Dr. Schraeder teaches makes it difficult. A lot of my notes are incomplete because he goes through material so quickly it's hard to write everything important down. Interesting that it's so hard to keep up in this class when he has a PhD in education.
This class is one where you will definitely have to spend a lot of time outside of class reviewing but the in-class examples are very helpful. I am terrible at math but if you do the homework, the WebAssign exams are very predictable, and the written exams are also mostly the same stuff as in class. I even ended with a 101% because of extra credit.
Extremely tough grader and doesn't give great feedback. I think he's hilarious but a boring, monotonous professor who struggles to break down the math. This class will require you to spend time out of class learning. Attendance counts as bonus. Exam's have very difficult problems but they are similar to the quizzes. He has 30 quizzes and top 10 ct
Professor Schraeder's MATH128 class requires serious effort, but he's a fair, approachable teacher. The material is challenging, but attending lectures and using resources like unstuck study can really help. Overall, a worthwhile class if you're willing to put in the work.
The way the professor discusses course material is very confusing and gets off topic often.
Personally I think he just over complicates things which adds to my confusion. Overall he's a good guy but his style of teaching is just not for me. He is also quite strict about deadlines but gives you plenty of notice when things will be do so its not a big deal. He was usually late to class and also never cancelled a single lecture.
His way of teaching can be confusing. What I liked about him was that he always took 2-3 days to review before an exam and went over problems that students sent in. If I ever didn't understand a problem on a homework or review, I would take a picture and send it in then he would do the problem in class.
We have 10 point homework assignments every class and if you miss class you can't do the assignment. But there are 30 and the 15 lowest get dropped. He moves so quickly in lecture you can't even write down the notes or problems before he finishes them. Aleks is heavy in this class and there is so much homework every week. Get a cheat sheet on test.
He is nice and funny during lectures. He is the toughest grader I have ever experienced. Exams are long. Quizzes are done outside of class and are easy points, but time consuming. Bonus points are given based on attendance. Lectures are fast paced. homework's are sometimes long, but not worth much of total grade.
Emails you late on Friday and Saturday nights. Doesn't seem to respect students. Gives off “I'm better than you” vibes. Would take other professors for this class if possible
Rude. Absolutely the rudest professor I have ever met. He consistently puts you down and compares you to high schoolers and himself. He denied my request for points back on a test because I waited 2 days to email him about it.
Moves through content very fast. Lots of homework that takes a long time to do. Exams/homework's will have content that was never covered in class. He is very passive aggressive and can't admit that his methods don't work. If you can't avoid him, find people to study with, and use the math learning center
Very very tough grader. Decent amount of grades throughout the semester, prof definitely cares about his students but it's really hard to do well on exams and quizzes because he is such a tough grader.
He is a very nice and sweet teacher, who seems to care about his students. Tests aren't too hard, but they are short so it is harder to do well. Teaches material well and homework amount is not too bad.
In my opinion the class is not difficult. He works through problems in the book and usually has multiple review days before a test. Exam preps are almost exactly like the exams. If you do the work and pay attention in class you will have no problem getting an A in this class.
teaches lesson well, gets boring at times but it is easy to understand and he uses class participation to help. also funny and genuinely cares about his students
Great math teacher for both 122 online and 124 in person. He explains everything clearly and makes sure students understand. He's welcoming with questions, and attending class gives you all the notes you need. Homework is easy if you do the workbook. Gateway exams allow daily attempts, and exam preps have unlimited tries.
Super nice guy that likes to have fun in class, always willing to help you individually but gives a lot of class time for answering questions and reviewing.
Star Wars fanatic.
Willing to help all students, was very funny and had an upbeat attitude even though it was only 830 in the morning. He taught well and was very helpful
Great teacher! His lectures were genuinely intriguing, best math teacher i've ever had
Dr. Schraeder is a tough grader, but he's actually good at teaching. Take home quizzes were more helpful than homework. Pay attention to fun facts he shares about himself. They might show up as bonus on quizzes.
Decent professor. Very boring tho
