Pretty good prof. Explains things well, exams were easy.

His midterms were pretty easy. He is a good prof if you are slow to understand concepts. He explains everything in great detail. If you are already comfortable with some of the material you may find he goes a bit to slow.

He knows his material very well and explains it extremely clear. Best Biology prof you'll ever have.

He's a really awesome prof. Really cares about his students and is really good at explaining concepts! The only bad thing about the course was we barely got through half the course, but that's because he actually took the time to explain everything and make sure his students understood the concepts before moving onto the next.

He gives very clear and thorough explanations. He tends to explains things very slowly so he won't be able to cover all the course material, but the material you do cover you will know VERY well. Quizzes are easy- mainly straight out of lecture/ textbook and the exam is fair/easy.

Great Prof! Really helpful and you can tell that he really cared about the students. Lectures a little bit too slow, but that's just because he thoroughly explains all of the concepts!

Dr. Smith is an amazing prof! His explanations are crystal clear and he will take time to go over certain concepts if students don't understand. He is very approachable and you can tell he cares for his students. Exams were fair so as long as you come to class and pay attention, you'll do fine. Best prof I've ever had!

Matt is a great prof, awesome teacher, but aplia was hard, great first year prof.

through the aplia quiz always due before he talk about it. however, generally, he is an awesome prof. i had a great time in BI110.

He's kind of intimidating when you meet him one on one so avoid that but his exams are relatively easy if you go to lecture and read the textbook!He also does a good job of explaining concepts cause he really knows what he's talking about

He hasn't changed his exams in over 5 years. I got copies of them, stopped attending class, and finished with a 95. Thanks for throwing us slackers a bone, Dr. Smith.

He's an excellent professor. He did his best to make a dry lecture as interesting as possible. I'm pretty sure he used a good amount of questions from the study guide on his final but he doesn't require that you buy it. Reading the textbook will definitely help you pass

He is easy to understand, does good lectures, always posts notes. I never had to use my textbook, just the online pack. He is super arrogant though and into himself, he talks about his algae research often and in tutorial some articles were about his research. Read up on algae stuff early!

Dr. Smith was a great 1st year professor. He gets you on his multiple choice questions with his tricky wording, but one you get used to it on the midterms, the final is a breeze. Just read over his slides and go to lecture. Textbook doesn't do much though.

His test questions are worded tricky-ly. Make sure to really pay attention to the wording. Theres a lot of mark division; so iClickersonline quizzes really do add up-so make sure to keep on top of those. His slides are not very descriptive especially for lengthy explanation slides; he tends to have a slide up and explain verbally. So, go to class!

I thought he was a great prof! Approachable, helpful, and he's also really passionate about biology. The wording on midterms and exam was a little tricky but other than that he was great.

Nice guy, tries hard. Clear and concise, follows solid outline and tests cover material learned from lecture with no tricks. Great prof.

Amazing prof. Can tell he's very knowledgeable and knows the material SUPER well. Make sure you take down everything he says in lecture - dw about lecture slides because they are posted. He goes into great detail when he talks about the slides so write it down.

He is a great professor! Follows textbook with clear slide show which he posts online. Print these and take notes of what he says during lecture. Theres lots of opportunities to get great high marks if tests aren't you forte. He is a very nice guy who is passionate about biology.

Great Professor but really gets a kick out of trying to trick you with his multiple choice questions on both the midterms and clicker questions. Likes to giggle at our answers.

Dr. Smith is a good prof. All his lecture slides are online so there is a lot of material to help you study. Although classes can be dull sometimes, it does really help to go to class. Make sure to do the readings because he doesn't cover everything in lecture.

He is a pretty good prof! Very passionate about what he's teaching. He loves clickers so you should really try to go to class. Tests are fairly hard so be prepared to study. Overall a good prof though!

Probably my favourite first year prof. He is very clear in what you need to know for midterms and finals. Study his lectures mainly, use the modules to clear things up, and you will do great. He's a great prof and a cutie!!!!

Probably one of the best first year teachers! He's very clear about what he teaches and explains the content in great detail. I enjoyed his class very much. He's very passionate about what he teaches. I wish i could have him for all my biology classes! Not to mention he loves his clicker questions.

Dr. Smith made intro to biology bearable. After struggling with Grade 12 biology, I was slightly intimidated by this course, but it went better than expected. Both the midterms were very fair, although the final was uncharacteristically difficult. Loves his clicker marks, so make sure to go to class. Tutorials are easy marks.

Fantastic prof! One of the best, if not the best in the department. Explains concepts very clearly, very passionate, very approachable, cares about the success of his students.

He is an amazing prof who knows what he is talking about. Must keep up on work or it is really easy to fall behind. Uses alot of textbook info on both midterm and exams so make sure to study both his lecture notes and make textbook notes!!!

He was very straight forward and they way he explained concepts was very clear. He was very rigid when it came to marking, and did not relent, when it came to that. But his lectures were, to me, very interesting. I like the use of clickers in his lectures, which make it more effective. Overall, really great professor!

Solid prof. Goes through lectures pretty slowly and goes into depth about each slide a lot more than other profs. TONS of clicker questions almost every class, and lots of exact clicker questions showed up on the exam.

SOOOO sweet! I missed my midterm bc of something out of my control and he allowed me a makeup without even asking and cracked jokes to cheer me up. He's so nice and wants the best for his students. Only con is he is usually behind on lecture schedule, but that is only bc he answers questions in class and explains everything as much as he can for us

He's a great prof. His lectures are very detailed as he explains concepts in-depth. As long as you pay attention and study you can get a good grade.

Some say he goes really slow which I can somewhat agree and although his lectures are long (just watch at faster speed). Almost never had to use textbook or take notes since he lectures were detail and nothing surprising showed up on midterms or finals. Of course, this was for a 100 level course, teaching speed may be annoying for other courses.

Dr. Smith only taught for the 2nd half of the semester and he is a solid prof. Lectures are kind of dry and the material can get boring at times but he does a decent job at explaining a concept. Since the course is based off of mostly 3 tests, studying a good bit is required and there's not much you can do other than read the textbook and ppt.

Dr. Smith is the best! He is so kind and considerate, and always willing to help if you have any questions. Definitely one of the best profs at Laurier, hands down.

This past semester was pretty tough for Dr. Smith due to many challenges that affected the quality of our course. However, he handled it with grace and offered immense support to his students and was extremely fair in offering new grading schemes. Dr. Smith has passion for what he does and is a very understanding prof. Would definitely take again!

He genuinely cares about his students and makes an effort to help them to learn properly. He has dealt with a rough semester and had to take on more than expected but handled it extremely well. He wants his students to succeed and has changed up the class schedule in order to make it suitable for us.

Dr. Smith is a wonderful professor. He cares about the students and gives them many opportunities to do well through different assignments and such. He ended up having to take on much more than he expected this semester but he handled it extremely well and made adjustments to make sure everyone was able to succeed in his class.

This professor will always have a place in my heart. Common Smith W. He makes sure that you leave the lecture room knowing you know more than what you walked in with unlike many other professors who you are practically left dumbfounded after leaving the lecture room. He is a fair test maker as all his exams are multiple choice.

PROF SMITH IS AMAZING. he is so genuine, so caring, and most importantly one of the most easy to understand prof. his lectures are so easy to grasp and the way he presents his material makes it so easy for you to do well in his class. He really wants people to do well and is genuinely such a good human. Tests are easy as well AS LONG AS YOU PREPARE

Mind taps. The most dreadful assignments there is. As well as the iClicker questions. Matt is a nice guy but sometimes he talks really slow and goes on and on about one topic and it gets really boring. Overall would possibly take again.
