the class is a bit hard, the readings are fun. and he is totally into helping students. DEFINITELY take his class. not too bad looking either. more of a NOAH WYLE than a BRAD PITT.

Well spoken and efficient teacher. Loves his job and it shows, and this motivated me to do good in his class. There are a lot of writing assignments but I highly recommend him to anyone having trouble with writing, as he will help you if you ask.

I had Dr. Spano for 2 courses and I wish he transfered with me to Rutgers. He is genuine and truly cares about his students. I highly recomend him- he might seem tough at first, but you learn to conform to his writing expectations. He's just an all-around amazing professor!

Clear and concise teaching style, fair grading. Heavy workload, but he makes it well worth it.

Amazing teacher. Knows his topics and is always willing to help students. Also a pretty animated guy. I can honestly say that this is the class I looked forward to the most (even if I wasn't prepared sometimes).

Awesome class! Spano makes this class not boring at all! I would definately recommend him. You keep a journal, have a midterm & a final, and 2 short papers and one long one. He is VERY knowledgeable about his subject and always offers extra help. Great class!

I loved Professor Spano! He made me feel confident in my writing unlike other teachers I had. There is alot of reading but he goes over everything in class. He is very helpful if you don't understand an essay topic and is willing to meet with you after class to go over it. He is by far the best professor I had at Middlesex!

Amazing professor. He gives you outlines of how all the papers should be written. Lots of reading involved but gives you outlines on all the pieces. If you keep good outlines writting the 5 papers and research paper are not hard.

He is a good professor. He is extremely helpful. He will answers all your questions and also gives his opinion which you can use to improve your paper grade. Great guy. I am an ESL student, but I did not feel that his class is hard. You will need to work hard of course. Take him fellas. Highly recommended.

spano is an excellent prof., one of the best mcc has in my opinion...his class is very fast paced so you need to attend every class you can cuz he covers a lot...not boring at all, but you will work hard and learn alot...after all, isn't that the whole point? he's very helpful and wants to see you do well...take him, you won't regret it...

Excellent professor, but be prepared to give it your all. I'm great in English, so I was able to procrastinate and write last minute papers - it was a pain since he assigns so much, but for someone in the class to learn how to write, he's with you every step of the way. He's clear, and very friendly. Don't hesitate to approach him for help.

Prof Spano is by far one of the BEST at MCC.. along w/ most of the ENG & HIS dept. Hes very accomodating when it comes to extra help. Be prepared to do alot of reading, but he goes over alot of the readings so if u fall behind or dont understand, no worries! hes extremely knowledgeable of the material & makes everything interesting. This man is extremely understanding. There's many circumstances where I was in the hospital that semester, but he worked with me and let me hand in work a week late. We had a class full of girls, but he made everything we read relate to us. Easy quiz grade boosters; simple tests if you listen to his lectures. TAKE HIS CLASS!

Amazing professor; one of MCC's best! Very helpful and understanding, and he knows the subject very well. He is not afraid to answer any questions you may have about what you read. You will have to work hard in his classes, but if you pay attention and do the work you will get a good grade. You will not regret taking a class with Prof. Spano!

He's a very organized professor. At the beginning of every class, he writes an outline [things to do at class and assignments]. That will keep you on track. He lets you re-write one out-class essay. Prof. Spano is really a fun character. Very helpful, nice, down to earth everybody's friend kind of guy. I took his Individualized class which he made a breeze from day one with a packet of info.. For all the people saying his class is hard because he grades the paper unfairly with grammatical errors, you sound ignorant. "E-N-G-L-I-S-H C-L-A-S-S"

Awesome amazing teacher who really cares about his class. He works with everybody and has great in class discussion. He more concerned that we learn the topic then the grades itself. In my class our essay topics were mostly independent and he gave me a lot of confidence in my writing. He is by far one of the greatest professors in the school.

Dr. Spano is truly an inspiring and radiant person. I highly recommend taking Mythology, because it can add to your understanding of the world and yourself. No one could teacher it better, and it's easy and fun because myths are something applicable to all of us! Love love love this class. Creativity is encouraged.

this class is way too fun..everything he goes over is so interesting and most of the myths can be applied to movies and stuff today..his quizzes are easy but there is a lot of work to do..not hard just a lot & he will help you and answer your questions immediately..my class was a great group of people and this is probably the best class ive taken

i was a complete idiot coming out of highschool and was horrible at writing. after taking his 122 and applying myself fully i was so much better at writing any kind of paper by the time i transferred to my four yr. def take him. he gives work all the time but its not an overload its def fair.

Spano has a way of lecturing that keeps you enthralled the entire time. I learned a lot from this class, but the workload was stressful. He is really into what he teaches so he tries to fit it all in. You will have to work hard for that A. Overall, a great and inspiring class to take if you can handle it. Spano's kindness is limitless too.

Spano is THE man. I learned reading and writing techniques in his class that I will use for the rest of my life. He completely revolutionized my way of approaching a text. Highly recommended. He does assign a good amount of writing, but you can pretty much pick your own topics, and he isn't the toughest grader on the block.

i took professor spano for eng 122&121. he is the most amazing professor i have had at middlesex. my writing skills improved dramatically due to the way Professor Spano teaches the information. he is very understanding and will go out of his way for his students. just an amazing person!! Great professor. You really have to try harder to fail than to pass. He's super clear, quizzes are really easy, and he's a super lenient grader when it comes to papers and due dates while also helping you learn. There are also extra credit opportunities. DEFINITELY take him for any English class.

This man is incredible. I've never met such a dedicated person like him before. While he does give a lot of work, he is really fair behind the scenes. If you go to his office hours, he'll really help you to understand the material. Best professor ever. I've become such a better writer after going through many assignments. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Professor Spano is insanely nice. He will help his students and discuss everything they want to not limited to his class. He acts as an adviser for his students not just a teacher. He gives a lot of papers and they can be difficult to write at times but he is a fair grader and gives students what they truly deserve on papers.

He is very nice and will help his students in any way he can in and out of class. He reads and critiques rough drafts before your papers are due to help you get a better grade. He lets you write about the topics that you are interested in. And he makes sure that the students thoroughly understand all of the material. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TAKING HIM!

Highly recommended! He does give a lot work but it helps if you are not the greatest writer. I did well on all the papers. The in class papers that I thought I didn't do well I did well actually. I got B's. I visited him during office hours and showed my drafts and he really helped. Overall very nice. I am taking him again for 122 during the fall.

I took professor Spano for ENG 122. This class was challenging as times as for he does give a handful of papers and assignments. You definitely need to stay ontop of your homework and papers due. With hardwork and dedication you can pass. Prof Spano extremely kind and helpful. Take Him!!

He's a nice person and a helpful guy. The journals are annoying and never ending. Also everything is due towards the end of the semester and only one essay due during the semester which makes everything seem like a lot more than if he spread the assignments out

My favorite teacher here! Really nice and helpful. If he noticed the class had an issue with something, he'd bring it up and help us all through it. Just keep up with the work and listen and you should end up with a good grade.

Incredibly kind&intelligent. Goes above&beyond to help students-take advantage of his office hours. Don't be afraid to participate in class! Dr. Spano is a great English professor. He's really nice and helpful. I took ENG 122 Writing about Nature with him and it was a cool class which I'm glad I took. I'd suggest taking him but the only negative is that he does a lot of in-class group work which gets annoying after a while but sometimes is helpful.

tough grader, , read alot of articles, don't sign up for his class if you don't like group work, he expects the students to write so well. saying all that he is nice, very specific on what he wants on the paper. he will help you but he is a tough grader

Yes, there is a lot of stuff to read, but why take any English and not expect this? And duh, he's gonna make you work for it, that's in every class. Does a good job clearly laying out assignments and what he expects from the students. Unless you have difficulty with writing, I don't see why you wouldn't pass his course if you didn't try. He gives you all the tools you need to understand and complete the work, with valuable feedback. His organized teaching style helped me improve on my writing.

Professor Spano is the best English professor I've ever seen. If you want to learn real stuff then you should take him. It won't be super easy to get good grades, but if you will FOLLOW his guidance, you will get the good grade. You will enjoy writing varieties of papers in his class.

If you really struggle with writing, he may not be the prof for you. Does a fantastic job of giving good feedback and laying out a clear lesson plan/goals and objectives for the class to follow along with. Really interesting guy, and I learned a lot from him!

Professor Spano is one of the best English professors at MCC. He'd be a challenge for anyone who struggles in writing, but he's understanding and his class is fun if you really like to learn. There's group work almost every day based on assigned readings, but overall it's a good experience.

Professor Spano was my substitute professor for one day, he clearly tells everyone what to do and how to do it with PowerPoint slides and that helped me understand what that matter was. Professor Spano was hands down one of my favorite English professors. I took him fall 2021 online. He had great power points that were easy to understand and he always gave clear instructions with examples. He was easily accessible and he always responded back within the hour.
