It was a lot of work but definitely very easy. Tells you exactly whats on the test beforehand and he's really generous with the grading. Homework is due every class and calls on people so you have to do it. Extremely laid back and kind of funny.

Professor Sutton is hands down the best theology teacher I had, I took it twice. He gives "Occasion of Joy" worksheets every night, but theyre easy ; based on Bible text. He's very easy going, no midterm, take home final. He is very helpful and not a stickler for attendance. I do not consider myself religious, but I REALLY enjoyed this class!

He is a wonderful teacher. Make sure you do the reading because he calls on students the next day. He is very fair, generous, and tries to make class as interesting as possible. Wonderful asset to SJU theology dept. He does take attendance and it can affect your grade if you don't do well on his hw/quizzes/exams. Best Professor ever taken!

Dr. Sutton is a wonderful teacher who really cares for his students. There is quite a bit of homework, but this will come in handy on his tests. If you are prepared to do the work, I can't imagine why you would do poorly in his class. Recommended!

Professor Sutton is the BEST theology teacher yet. I took him for Perspectives of the Church and shockingly enough as the end of the semester apporaches I have a perspective on the Church. He gives a lot of reading but the textbooks aren't all that bad to read. He keeps you engaged the entire lecture.

Professor Sutton is an uber nice guy who goes over material well. Unfortunately the work load is sort of insane for a core class (and not even an honors' one at that!). Crazy amounts of reading assigned every class and pretty difficult tests (though he reviews thoroughly). Definitely not an easy A.

Had him for THE2210 (Perspectives on the Church), he's a really great guy and professor. Homework consists of reading and guided questions/responses that he types up. Exams come straight from your class notes and HW sheets. Easy A. Take Him!!

Not a bad guy but he gives insane amounts of homework. In addition to that, his finals are hard because he gives you the passages you might have to write about but you don't know the exact ones. So basically, say there is 3 essay questions on the final you must study 15 possibilities, therefore you must study 5 times the amount.

Really nice professor; he gives homework each class but it's really easy. The version of the bible he reads from is a little difficult but you can do well on the exams just from his notes. I got 100 on both exams. Just attend class, and take notes and you can get an A easily

He's an amazing professor. He really clarifies the Bible quite well and the work is easy. It's a lot of work but it's very simple. Attendance is important but you're allowed to use your laptop "for good not for evil" as he proclaims. Nice & funny guy, definitely take him! I recommend him with my deepest regards. He's computer savvy too!

he has pretty eyes lol...seriously tho. go to class. you cannot afford to miss a day as he covers a lot of material (he's understanding if you do however). it's a lot of work but it's not hard at all. Take home questions, biblical readings and that's that. Show upto class the next day and you get your grade. Marks fair and Exams are good. TAKE HIM

A LOT OF WORK. But he grades really leniently. Hard not to get full marks on everything. Attendance is mandatory. Books are needed by second day of class. If you put in the work you should get an A. He's a great prof, would recommend.

He's really nice and funny and he'll give you help whenever you need it. Be prepared to do a lot of work though, its a lot of reading and the tests are mostly essays. Its not too hard and its definitely possible to get an A, but you have to work for it.

Sutton is a awesome prof. He's a young dude and is very understanding of his students. He knows his stuff and really takes pride into his lectures and tries to not make them boring. He's also really easy going and not a strict grader. There's a lot of reading to do obviously, you can't avoid that but his class is worthwhile. Highly recommend him!!!

Great and funny guy. Very understanding as well. Makes Christianity simpler for people who don't know much about the religion. Learned a ton from his class. He gives a lot of hw that requires reading but its not hard. He gives you questions to the final exam and an in class exam beforehand so you can study. He is an easy A. I would take him.

He is an amazing and helpful professor. I was going through a tough time and missed many classes. He gave me extensions on a paper, and really helped me review so that I could pass the final. Granted, I did have all A's the beginning of the semester. Overall, he is funny, helpful, and is so caring. He loves what he teaches, and who he teaches.

Great teacher. He was very nice and makes you genuinely interested in the subject. He gives a lot of reading assignments and homework to go along with the readings. In class he will call on you to answer a question from the homework so you need to do it. Definitely would take his class again!

I absolutely LOVED my time in Dr. Suttons class. He is always so funny talking about his kids and his general life experience. I would/will definitely take him again for another course. TAKE HIM! He's so nice and understanding and he does care about your grade. Just don't miss a daily sheet, its and easy grade. You just have to do it.

Professor Sutton is one of the best theology teachers in St. John's. He loves using analogies and stories that somehow tie back to what he is trying to teach. I honestly did not find the material very interesting, but professor Sutton's lectures are worth attending class. He keeps you engaged in the class.

Dr Sutton has to be the best prof Ive ever had. He gives a lot of readings for homework but as long as you keep up, he is very detailed and will help you. He truly cares about his students and is extremely intelligent. Be respectful, show up, and keep up with the work and you will do well. He is willing to help any time!

He is very funny and interesting. His lectures are in depth and he has a lot of energy. He expects you to read a lot before class and his hws range from 5-30 questions. Tests are short answer, but he reviews before the test. I would love to take him again if I take theology again. He really knows how to help us understand what is going on and cares

Professor Sutton made a core theology class interesting - a feat I didn't think was possible. He is passionate about the subject, and really connects with his class. Go to class, take notes, buy the textbooks (yes you read them all; they're cheap), and you'll get an A no problem. I would take another class with him if I could.

Super nice guy, always trying to make the class laugh. Even though I'm an atheist I honestly was grateful and inspired by his method of teaching and his devotion to the subject. Very clear about grading criteria and what is on quizzes / tests. More take home assignments than in-class assignments.

Professor Sutton is one of the best professors I have had at St. John's. There's homework based on reading every night but it's manageable & he goes over all the answers in class. Professor Sutton is so passionate about his course that you can't help but get wrapped up in his energy even if your the least religious of people (like me). There's a lot of reading that has to be done, but if you do it and go to class there is no way you wouldn't get an A. There are three exams, and one is a take home. I definitely recommend.

Such an overall awesome person, he cares so much about theology that it makes you have such a fond love for it as well. His jokes are hysterical and his lectures are always well thought out and delivered, I would totally recommend him and would totally take him again, love him so much!

Professor Sutton is an amazing choice! The work load can seem a lot sometimes but it really isn't compared to other classes and he is an extremely fair grader. He's also super friendly and approachable.

It seems like a lot of bible reading and homework involved but it is helpful in the long run. He gives very good lectures and makes sure everyone fully understands. Keeps everyone engaged in class. He understands theology is not your top priority so he grades reasonably if you put the effort in.

If you cant get an A in THEO1000 you probably dont belong in college. Writing this as a sophomore and so far this was the easiest class ive ever taken. Complete the assignment sheets/write the papers and youve got an A. Also, hes a pretty chill guy. You can honestly trade off with someone alternating doing the assignment sheets. Defined as EZ A

EASY A!! He gives you all the answers to the test before you take it, gives assignments way in advance, & has so many extra credit opportunities. Its almost impossible to not do well in this class. Homework is graded orally so you never even have to hand anything in, just be ready when he calls on you (but the questions are super easy).

Taking him was one of the best decisions I've made. He makes class time go by fast. Even if you aren't Catholic or religious period, he runs the class in a way that doesn't make it preachy or a drag. He has a great sense of humor and is a real nice guy. Do the reasonable work and there's no way you can't pass with an A. Highly recommend taking him.

TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!! He did disappear a few times which was annoying but he was so generous when it comes to grading. Lots of assignments but his generosity makes up for it. Dont let homework discourage you from taking him- literally so easy and not a lot of thinking requires. TAKE HIM YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT.

Dr. Sutton is a great prof! He gives worksheets accompanying the Bible readings. His lectures are actually interesting. Put in some effort, and you'll do well. He cares about how you're doing and is very understanding of extenuating circumstances that can affect your class performance.

He gives a whole schedule for homework assignments each week. You have to read the books to answer the assignments, but they're fairly easy. He is awkwardly funny and really nice. He gives 3 take home exams. I had to buy 4 books for his class, but they were actually nice to read.

I took this online class over the summer. There are many texts that we have to read, 3 books to purchase and 2 online texts. We had so many homework, it was tiring. He grades easily. If you had any questions, he would rarely be on because hes a family man, and he would spend his time away from class. Hard to reach out. Two exams , and final paper

I took this class over the summer and there was so much work, basically no time to breathe. He's a sweet man, but hard to reach. Assignments are long and everything is due at the end of the week. The only reason this is an Easy A is because if you do the work he gives you credit. All answers are in the textbooks and tests are written.

I signed up for his synchronous course, but he made it asynchronous through Slack. A couple assignments each week based on the readings, and sometimes videos. It is not difficult, just time consuming.

Great professor, but a lot of work. He grades super easy if that is any help. I was taking an online class and had to do at least two homework assignments per week and there were about 3 tests per semester. All of the work was open book and most of the required readings can be found online. Pretty easy A, especially for an honors class.

Wonderful professor! Show up to class and just take notes on what he says. His tests and papers can be difficult if you don't have his notes and didn't write how he exactly explained certain topics. Very understanding and the class gets easier as the semester goes on. Almost everything was take home, which was such a blessing.

Although he doesn't check the worksheets he assigns, they are incredibly important for his papers. They are basically the answer key to the questions on the exams and your notes for class so don't slack off on them. His lectures go more in depth about the homework and they answer the more complex questions on the exam. Doing your HW will get u an A

It's a theology class so of course you will have to read for every class but it's super doable. Goes over all the reading in class so that you understand everything. Exams are take-home and you have like a week to do them. Everything on the tests is from the lecture and notes he puts up on the board. Funny and caring. Was my fav class this semester

Take Dr. Sutton if you can! I took his Mary and the Saints course, and he was very clear. He does give assignment sheets but he never checks them, although he does randomly call on people for answers. There are no tests - it is a few papers, and he is very lenient and passionate about the class. If you go to class and do the work you'll do well!

Great professor. Assignment sheet for each class with 8-20 short paragraph questions, but it'll definitely make you want to learn more. I wanted to learn more so I was good with the workload. He is inclusive of everyone of every religion, but Christianity is the theme of the course. 1 short in person exam, & the 2 after are take home, & 2 papers.
