very nice and helpful. funny guy ;)
He has a dry sense of humor which makes it funnier. Very nice to look at esp when you wake up in the early morning. Explains the material clearly and all you do is a couple briefs and two tests. Made law interesting and actually easy to learn. Def take him!
awesome professor, really understanding and helpful, def take him
Excellent Professor!!!!! Very approachable and easy to comprehend. Very patient and answered all questions immediately via email. Thorough reviews prior to exams and final.
Amazing professor, very helpful, and funny. He's really smart and does his best to explain the material to the students.
Excellent professor I never seen at Baruch. He explains difficult law material very easyily. He shows repect to students. When you study for exams, practic problems as you much you can. Take him! you will not regreat. Also he is very cute and young.
Excellent professor! Made hard material easy to comprehend. An Extremely helpful and funny professor whom I will miss. "Shoehead"=insider. :-)
Even though Matt is lawyer and prof., somehow I see him as really nice easygoing guy. His teaching technique is absolutely excellent because he makes complicated things easy to understand and do not stress students by endless homework and tests. If all professors would teach like he does probably students would drop classes less often.
first of all he is Extremely hot!!!!!! and as a bonus ;) he's a practical teacher who knows his subject well (considering he's a lawyer by profession). Sundays were a joy to look forward to (no joke) Just complete the assigned readings and come to class every day because he explains the material really well. definitely take this class
He has very nice personality, good looking man, but subject is not easy at all. The final was a disaster!!! Take him but make sure you do all your readings!!!
The test was not easy. He explained and answered all the questions that student asked in the class.Sometimes he wasted too much time on answering questions that were not really related to the subject. He didn't give a good review on the test, he didn't give hints about what gonna be on the test, basically you have to study most of the material befor
Pro. is really easygoing. You will have no stress. The hws r up to u to do, but i recommend u do them. only 3 case briefs to do. two mideterm and one accum. final. the problems he stressed will be on test. the q. is similaer to what he goes over in class. made a huge curve. a friend got 79+60 on midterms ended up with B+. take him.
It's true that he is easygoing, you will do nothing in class but when it comes to the midterms and finals, you will cry. His exams are really hard comparing to what you do in class. He ruined my GPA, it was 4.0 before I took this class, and I really studied a lot. Easy classes, hard exams, take him if don't care about your grade.
He will teach you less than half of the material and tell you "don't worry, all of you will get an A". This makes you think that material that you study in class is enough to get a good grade. However, this is far from being true. He is really easy in class, but remember that final is from the department and prof. Waller will not prepare you.
Read textbook before coming to class and ask all q's about what you don't understand. Do the hw problems, and focus on the ones he stresses. For exams, USE LEGAL TERMS!! You have prove you know what you are talking about, no BSing. He is easygoing, esp. for a lawyer which is good but dont slack off. Overall very good prof, and very useful class.
Read the textbook and try to understand everything. Lectures will be helpful only if you already know the matereal from the book, otherwise you will not be able to understand anything.Prof. Waller is easygoing in class but a very hard grader.
Law is a difficult subject, the textbook is almost useless, that's why you have to take a very good professor. Final is from the department and it's not easy at all, so take somebody who can prepare you for the final, not somebody who is easy in class.
I hated this class. You absolutely don't know what to expect from him. He didn't even care to tell us what is the format of the exam. Actually he told us there will be 8 essays, however when we saw the final - have of it was multiple choice questions. He cares more about his look than about his teaching.
Easy C or D, no homework, no checking attendance. However, absolutely impossible A.
Took his Sunday class; avoid Matthew Waller like a plague. The class started out with over 35 people, by the end of the semester, there were barely 18 people who took the final. The best you can get is a B. He is ill-prepared, never gives you a format of how he expects you to write and expects you to write like a lawyer for the Bar exams.
this professor is very good looking and very nice!that motivates you to come to class and do good! the subject is difficult, but if you come to the review and pay attention you will do good! and the fact that the professor is cute makes the subject more interesting and the little less painfull!
He is a really nice professor, and cute of course. It was a pleasure actually listening in his class. He sometimes lacks enthusiasm, but he teaches really good. Just read the material, review and you will do good =)
This is the type of professor who is able to get the points across clearly. He uses examples that entail the main points you need to get across to score well on the exams. However, it is best that the student reads the book throughly just to render a more detailed answers to cover all bases.
He is very unorganized. You will have no idea what kind of questions you can get on the exams, which chapters, format of the exam, etc. Basically, if you want to get a very easy D - take him. If you want to understand anything from this course - stay away. Very very very very hard grader. Once he said that no one ever got an A in his class.
This is a pretty tough class but with a great professor. The format on his exams (one test, a midterm, and a final) may seem complicated at first but they really help provide structure to your essays. You will remember a lot from this class. The final is worth 50%..there are easy HW assignments that make up 15% of your grade so make sure you do them
Best Law Professor Ever!!!!!!!! Teaches very well and relates everything to cases that interest us, like sports, or clubs. He always talks about his own cases that he's working on. Always explains the material on the test and final. VERY HOT!! And pleasing to look at while teaching- keeps you interested. Very considerate and understanding!
HE IS A REALLY NICE AND HELPFUL TEACHER, HE TEACHS IN A WAY THAT CAN HELP ME UNDERSTAND REALLY WELL AND I KNOW OTHER TEACHERS THAT TEACH THIS SUBJECT AND THEY MAKE LAW SEEM SO MUCH HARDER TO UNDERSTAND THEN IT REALLY IS.
Great Professor! Very understanding. Explains everything clearly, and really tries to help ALL the students. Always answers questions, and very generous with points on tests!!!
He is very understanding. People missed tests and exams all the time and he would arrange the timing with each student and give them the tests. Go through the powerpoints and the book. Not hard...but you gotta study a little. And the prof's not bad to look at :D
Great prof.Easy going and funny lawyer.Great class to open the day with.He explains everything you need to get an A on the departmental class which is 50% off the final grade!3 exams total-very lean on grading. The tests are straight forward-no suprisess-just like cases and problems he solves in class.Take him!
Seems nice and helpful at first but turns out to be useless. Doesn't reply mails or have time to help. Always ending class early to run to court so don't get enough time to cover all the important material. Doesn't prepare us well for the exams.
Waller is a decent prof. He knows how to incorporate stories into the lesson to make it interesting. Need to read text. Attendance not necessary. He doesn?t write notes out, and even if he does, you wouldn?t be able to read it clearly because it?s hard to read chicken scratch. It?s all based on the slides. But I would recommend him still.
This class was very fun. He is extremely funny and understanding. He talks very clearly and makes sure you understand the material. Tests are easy and graded very quickly. Just go over the notes and problems. Highly recommended. even if you take him at 7:50, it's a breeze.
Professor Waller is awesome ! take him and he will make you loove law !!! on top of that, he is very cute !
really good professor! i highly recommend him! his powerpoints are useful if you don't want to look through the textbook and how he relates the work with his stories are interesting. plus, he's super cute! i got really low grades in both midterms but my final really boosted me up to a B+ !!
This class was s bit boring. The professor is monotone so don't take him early in the morning. He is a bit funny but is quite low on energy. You don't have to go to class so follow the book.
He is a very good Professor beyond any doubt.
Definitely an easy going professor. Doesn't seem to mind latenesses and seems very considerate for late work. Seen a student allowed to take an exam with no excuse. Workload seems a lot in the beginning, but only requires case briefs and final writing assignment be handed in. Read book, do and follow problems in class = A. Recommended.
Very good professor. Teaches exactly what will be on the exams. May seem like a lot of work, but he makes the class really easy. 4 easy case briefs, 2 midterms and final. Doesn't really care about lateness or attendance. & HOT!!
Literally one of the nicest professors. He makes the information so easy to understand, and makes you want to come to class. He's really funny, cute and smart! He doesn't stress attendance and is really laid back!
He is the best teacher I have ever had. He is really polite and great with students. attendance seems not mandatory but in the end of the class you get 15% only by attendance. I do recomend TO TAKE HIM!!!!!
1st exam everyone does so so because of the multiple choice, the rest if you come to class actually & listen to what he says the second exam becomes easy, and the final also becomes a breeze, he mentions examples he really focuses on, homework is alright, if you hand in work late he really is forgiving and doesn't worry, great professor, seriously
Doesn't answer emails, can't really teach the material clearly, no textbook use, easy class to take but tests are hard and you won't do well. Brings down GPA ALOTTT
LOVE HIM!!!!!! EXCELLENT PROFESSOR, TAKE HIM!
It's hard at first but once you get the hang of it, it becomes easy. The first midterm always brings people's grade down because of the multiple choice. 3 case briefs,2 exams and a final. Attendance not mandatory and doesn't care about lateness.
ITS ALL ABOUT MEMORIZATION! In this class a few online assignments, 2 midterms, and one final. attendance isnt mandatory but would recommend cause hell give examples of cases thats easier to remember than their terms.
Besides the low monotone voice, Professor really knows his stuff and tries his hardest to get you interested. 3 exams. First one 10-15MC 1 Essay. Second one 6-8 Essay. Third one is the departmental cumulative final all essay questions. I didn't do well on the exams but got a B in the class.
Professor Waller is such an amazing professor. I took the class at 7:50 in the morning and enjoyed every moment. He makes the class interesting, has a great sense of humor, and is always willing to help students. Take him if you get the chance!
best professor i ever had, he give you all the information u need, and explain how to use the basic rule to the real case, and very charming person.
Awesome guy. He's nice, funny, and he makes the class so much easier than it really is. Highly recommended! Worth the 7:50am class time
Best law 1101 professor at Baruch. Explains everything you need to know for your finals. 2 midterms that aren't worth much, few assignments that are jokes, one department final which is reviewed in detail.
Professor Waller is one of the best professors I've had at Baruch. He explains all of the material clearly, is always available and willing to answer questions, and is a fair and generous grader. I took the 7:50 a.m. class and it was worth waking up at 5:30 in the morning. Take him if you get the chance because you'll learn a lot and he's amazing!
He is kind of boring. Business law is awesome and reigns Supreme in its field, but he is just dull. I love law and am good at memorizing the clause but his exam are super confusing and out of the blue. Girls dog him but unless you awing that way, just don't bother wasting your grade for an average looking, mediocre professor.
Although he does go off on tangents sometimes, overall lectures were interesting/informative and even funny at times. Most classes ended at least 15min early. Said there would be 5-7 case briefs, only assigned 4. 2 midterms, 1 cumulative department final. Sometimes it's unclear which assignments are due because he says he'll post on BB, but won't.
WAKE ME UP! this professor is very boring and unprepared for his materials. I get it that this is not his fulltime job but come on! Law is very interesting subject but this professor makes me wanna shoot my off! His test were all over the place. I dreaded this class. I really wish I could have drop this class so I could have taken different class.
Funny guy at times. Posts all notes online to make studying simple. Not much textbook use unless you study from it. He doesn't collect the question hws, but he collects the briefs. Class is slightly challenging, I did need to study for exams, but I still reccomment because he ends class 15 minutes early
Awesome guy, very entertaining as well. It seems like there is a lot of material to cover but he keeps focus on what you'll be tested on, so just pay attention in class.
He tells you exactly what you need to know and he says it pretty clearly. Not super exciting but he has his moments. I'd recommend him.
Cool guy but he can be a little confusing when answering questions. Like, your not sure what the right answer is when he moves onto the next question.... He's generous when it comes to final grades though. Since the final is departmental, he'll be lenient if he sees material on there that he knows he didn't cover.
Well, maybe it is just a lawyer thing, but it was hard for me at certain times because i felt like the professor could of been both more specific with his lectures and notes. I understand he tries to give examples to explain statutes and so on, but to me it wasn't helpful, because you were still left with so what is the answer?
Waller does a fine job teaching the class. 2 midterms and a Final. The final is worth 50% of your grade. He tries to make the lectures interesting and gives real life examples from his practice. It's a lot of material to remember so if you don't understand something, you should ask for help. Also he didn't take attendance in my class.
He was a nice professor. Gave me some personal law advice. To do well on the test, read the book first and then the power point because the PP can seem fragmented. His answers to questions are confusing because I'm guessing that's how it is in the real world so be very specific and clear when asking and you'll get the answer you want.
Great professor. Very clear and straight to the point. Knows his stuff and is able to explain it well. If you follow his lead, take notes and do everything he assigns should be no problem getting an A. Participation matters.
Matthew Waller is a true legend. He's the best professor I've had in Baruch. He honestly inspired me this semester to look into going to Law school. He made a rather boring subject the most interesting class I've had this semester. pay attention, take good notes on the case examples, and I guarantee you a great semester and an A.
Waller is the best, by far the most competent and fair in the Law department. Although not mandatory, show up to class and take notes. He repeats the essential concepts hundreds of times for a reason. He has his own style of lecturing that allows students to understand and succeed. 2 midterms and a final with maybe 2-3 small writing assignments.
Learnt so much from this class. Yes, there is a lot of materials that are covered and can be overwhelming at times, but you walk away knowing law like an experienced law student. I would recommend taking him over any professor, though I can not say its an easy class if your not interested to put in work. Amazing lectures and real life examples.
The material was tough/dry. But since he is really funny and sarcastic class was always interesting. I didn't do that well on the tests but after the final I got an A-. He was always available by email to answer questions and be helpful. Definitely take him for Law 1101!
Prof. Waller is another great professor! You have to be on top of your studies. He rewards hardwork. Make sure you read your notes/textbook. He makes the class so much fun. I am happy I took his class.
Prof. Waller was a great prof I had this semester. I appreciate his kindness. I failed the first exam, but I did well on 2nd midterm and final. He saw my hard working and gave me A at the end. He let me believe that hardworking would always get paid at the end. Taking good notes are very important in his class. It was worth to take morning class.:)
Waller is an eggcellent law professor! Such an eye candy, 6/10 bc my manz is better but probably can't get me out of a lawsuit. Show up to class, take good notes, and review the essay questions. Class consists of two midterms 20% each, a final 50%, and homework 10%. TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He is a nice and funny professor. Almost no homework, and you only need to pay attention is class.
This was the only class I ever looked forward to attending. His lectures are amazing and makes you understand each concept with in depth examples.
I took Prof Wallers law class at 7:25 am and trust me it was worth it. Every second of this class is informative, he is just a great face to see in the morning and is passionate about law (he is a lawyer) he takes attendance first we classes then stops it. He has 2 tests then a final and he doesnt grade hw. Take this class for a easy B or higher!
Professor Waller was a great teacher all around. He would makes classes very interesting and I actually got interested in the things we were learning because of it. The substance is dry but the actual class isn't. He's very accommodating when it comes to tests. Two midterms and a final but as long as you study the sample questions, you'll be fine.
Very nice lectures that are informative and applies to the real world. Just questions for homework/classwork and two exams plus a final.
He comes in every class wearing Gucci or Off White or whatever hype brands are going on atm. Usually Gucci. Aside from that, he's a really good professor and great at explaining concepts but sometimes I feel like he can do a better job explaining questions we do for hw. He always lets us out 30 min early.
He is such a great professor. He is really chill. Come to class because his test are based on what we talk about. He also is not bad to look at. He's mad chill and great at teaching the material. It is a tuff class by the subject itself but if you master the problems for hw you'll be fine.
His tests are easy. His lecture powerpoints are scattered, a majority of things are not important. I took the final and it is almost different than what he taught us. I spend a few hours wasting my time studying topics that were not on the test. A majority of the topics are not on the final. The final is super hard compared to his exams.
What a great professor. His two tests are easy. Just study. The final is different than his tests, but take him. He will secretly make you pass the final even though you thought you failed the final. He gave me a B when I mostly did bad on the final. What a great professor.
Focus on what he talk about in CLASS, other things arent really necessary. MC on first exam is hard but the rest of everything in course is easy. he curves grades so dont be scared. barely any homework, but go over your notes for understanding participate or email him for clarif. reviewed issues from practice q's in class are likely to be in exam.
He is an amazing professor. His lectures are so interesting time flies by. He always ended class 30 minutes early. Make sure to study what he says in class.
Prof. Waller is great. He assigns 3 brief cases throughout the semester, 1 final writing assignment, 1 exam, a midterm, and a final. The class is pretty chill and interesting. Make sure you take note of what he says in class because that will help you on the exams. He lets the class out 30 mins earlier.
Great professor. Makes the content really easy to understand. I recommend.
Honestly just not my teaching style, would end class after 40 minutes of teaching so it never felt like I was well prepared for this class. Nice guy and curves your grade, but I find him overhyped.
Very kind professor but the subject for me was a little bit difficult because there's a lot of definitions and notes to take. His class in terms of homework assignments are very easy and they help your grade especially the writing assignments. There's only a midterm and a final to worry about :).
Amazing professor, the language of law is hard to understand sometimes and I didn't do well on the first midterm but he still gave me a B. Always ended class 30 minutes early. Recommend him.
Pros: Prof. Waller is a nice guy, the subject matter isn't difficult, hybrid class, attendance isn't mandatory, Prof. curves your grade. Cons: almost no HW feedback throughout a semester, BB updates are irregular, ends class 30 minutes early. That said, you won't learn a lot but you can still easily get your B even if you fail on a midterm.
My favorite lecturer at Baruch. He made business law a very interesting topic and his assignments/tests are very fair. I still retain and apply information I learned in this class to this day. If you have the chance to take Professor Waller, by all means do it.
Super chill guy. He gives me Gen Z vibes. Assignments are easy but it really didn't make sense I did them because it wasn't even included in my final grade. HINT: he didn't grade them
Always comes to class drippy. calm fits, great teacher. doesn't grade homework and loves when students participate. fun to hear about his real world cases and always ends class early. definitely recommend.
To be honest, I enjoyed every single lecture day I had with Professor Waller. The midterm, is ok, not mentioning the fact that final was pretty easy. Everything was obvious during the final, everything that I have learned from Professor Waller was indeed helpful during the Final. Professor Waller, if you're reading this, thank you for everything.
Prof. Waller spends multiple classes on specific units that he knows are covered in the final by doing many problems on them. He does rush on non-important units. His classes end 30 minutes early. The class contains a midterm and final. He doesn't grade any homework except written assignments and case briefs as participation.
Attendance was not mandatory and he allowed a cheat sheet on the final so it was good. He gave work every class to do though but it's pretty easy its not that hard. His lectures were good, he explains everything really well and clearly, he's also super duper chill and understanding, you should take him for an easy A
Very nice guy and taught content well but did not prepare for exams. No feedback on homework assignments which makes it hard to study.
Professor Waller makes this class a breeze. His lectures are engaging, and he explains concepts clearly. The workload is manageable, and unstuck ai was a lifesaver for exam prep. Overall, an easy A-worthy course.
Professor Waller is great. His lectures are easy to understand, and he made it very clear what was going to be on the midterm and final. You can get a C on the midterm and still get an A in the class. Assignments were pretty easy, there weren't a lot of them either. He's super chill and nice, take him if you can!!
Professor Waller made an asynchronous class manageable. He's very respectful and knows his material. The course itself was only graded on several writing assignments, case briefs, 1 midterm and the final. Midterm was online but the final was in person. He does answer questions to ensure students understand the concepts.
