Dr. Warshauer is the best history teacher. I had him 3 times and his classes are intesting and fun. He went to ccsu and is very helpful for advising and anything else. I highly recommend his class.
tough class, but good prof.
course load: 3 3-5 page papers, 1 8-12 page paper. This class is a lot of work and he is not an easy grader. His sense of humor alone made the class worthwhile, though.
heavy work load, but if you ask for help, he was there a 100%
Excellent teacher. Thought provoking and relevant assignments.
Dr. Warshauer is an excellant professor. He is very interesting and fun. The work load that you recieve is fair, but no matter what he's always there to help you. He's not only a great professor but he's an excellant advisor.
Hard but not impossible. He was a great teacher and i would take him again. He rerally makes you learn. Very intelligent and funny. I highly recommend him.
There were a couple of papers as someone else mentioned and his tests included multiple choice, essay and fill in the blank. He is an awesome teacher. He makes class interesting and fun. You can tell he likes his job. He is also great to just look at ;)
The best teacher on campus. He is interesting, funny, brilliant, cool. He is worth taking any chance you get
his class was sooooooo fun. he goes over everything you need to know. he only gives one paper and easy tests. you just have to pay attention
Best Histroy teacher ever! Very intresting, and clear. I recommend him to everyone! Great person as well as teacher!
Thinks too highly of himself
This guy is stuck on himself! He is a real know it all and he puts students down. He needs to learn how to be humble and remember where he came from.

Not sure where everyone is getting bad impressions about Professor Warshauer :P A very personable guy, makes learning history more enjoyable than a typically boring history class. Gets the students to actively engage in class discussion, while taking the time to make sure everyone understands the material. Definitely recommend.

When I took a class with this guy, I was under the impression that I would be learning about U.S. History. Sadly, all I learned about was what this guy published and wanted to publish down the road. As some of the others have said, he is definitely in love with himself.

Best Teacher I have ever had
He thinks too much of himself and thinks that he's hoty but is not. He also thinks that he can intimidate everyone by getting loud with the person.
Warshauer is a classic example of what happens to a professor after a university gives him or her tenure. If you are thinking about taking one of his classes, proceed with the utmost caution.
best teacher i've had... very interesting... requires a lot of work, and he expects that you do it. willing to help students out with advising and does a good job at it unlike a lot of other professors.
Arrogant, aggressive, and loud. Book smart, but not a thinker.
This guy is bizarre. I handed in one assignment for him and he told me that it should have been more concise. So, when I did the second assignment, I deliberately made it short and sweet, but he said it should have been longer with more details. It was also painful listening to him read his articles during class. Very desperate for attention.
this dude SUCKS! very arrogant! just not a nice person overall...and a bad teacher too. needs a lot of lime-light...thinks he knows everything.
Can you spell ARROGANT? but he hastenure so he gets away with being loud, outspoken, arrogant and not very good at what he does. Stay away. Not at all helpful and doesn't answer emails.
I did not like history at all but he actually made it interesting. He says these trivia things on the side that make it even more interesting. Said exactly what you need to study for. Do it how he explains and you'll do fine!
A very good lecturer. Can be boring at times, but is extremely helpfull if you see him during office hours for help on a topic.
Dr. Warshauer is one of the best in the history department. He will go way out of his way to help you out. Don't expect to breeze through his courses without putting tons of time in. Dr. Warshauer rocks! His lectures are amazing even if you aren't into the topic
AWESOME Professor! It is clear that he knows his stuff and loves what he does, as it comes out in his lecturing style. He is energetic, enthusiastic and FANTASTIC to look at!
Learned alot! Take this professor!
A really great guy and professor, he knows a lot about what he's teaching! Be prepared to read a lot and participate in discussions, but it really helps, you will learn a lot. He is always willing to help, too! I learned a lot and had a good time.
really easy going had him fro a winter class and he was really understanding when i fell asleep from working 12 hour shifts. his assignments were not too hard but not so easy u get bored he was the best teacher ever
This guy has a street named after him, which is One Way. If you are writing a paper, make sure it meets his illustrious guidelines. Otherwise, you will not be pleased with your grade.

Wish i could say I fell asleep in warshy's class but he's so aggravating he kept me awake. At least he could lower his voice. He is full of himself and its his way or the highway. Likes to yell at students when they ask what he considers stupid questions. We're not all as stupid as you think Warshy, lighten up.
Great Teacher! I had him for a summer course and he is in no way pretentious or hard to understand. He always connected history to today's world and it was very helpful. I almost failed Hist162 and I got an A- in his course - he's doing something right.
Teaches a good history class. Goes over subjects clearly and makes sure everyone understands them. I had his summer history course at 8 am. Normally this would suck a lot, but he made tolerable. Likes to joke around and knows what he's talking about. Would take again.
The guy is very nice and personable. Very interesting lectures, requires a fair amount of work, and really expects a quality paper. Hence why I think some of the comments might be negative.
very helpful, very interesting. Gave us a study sheet for the midterm in our first class and it was everything we need to focus on. same for the final. funny and personable.
taught history from an interesting angle, lectures were gripping and never dull. Gives all necessary information for tests in lectures. Study from notes.
A lot of people say that colleges are supposed to allow people to exchange ideas freely. However, in Warshauer's class, nothing like this takes place. Instead, the only person, who shares any thoughts, is him.
Warshauer is a great professor that breaks down history very well. The readings were challenging, but Prof. W broke them down well. Warshauer was very helpful and easy to talk to. Do not be afraid to have him glance at your paper before you hand it in. The class was one of my best classes at CCSU. I highly recommend him.
Obviously, there are some students who have never been seriously challenged by a teacher/professor, nor challenged themselves. He not only presents content but tries to get you to think about the necessary skills to research, the field of history, and yes, even provides some lessons from his own life experiences.
very nice, always willing to help you out
He is a great History teacher and he knows what he is talking about. Class is always fun and i have taken US Sectionalism and History of Politics with him and have enjoyed both classes a lot. Funny guy if your looking for a good class and teacher take one of his!
Great Professor. I have taken two classes with him and was never bored. He is very interactive in the class and always joking. He has strong opinions and thinks he is always right... but most of the time he is. And he isnt that bad to look at either :)
The good: Prof Warshauer is very engaging in the classroom, has a fantastic sense of humor and is well versed in his subject matter. The Bad: Prof. Warshauer forgets that he is a teacher outside the classroom. He does not respond to e-mails or requests and believes that the sylabus is all the guidance students require.
Professor Warshauer is great, especially in the summer. He made this class really interesting and I looked forward to every day, even at 8AM. I would definitely recommend his American History classes in the summer: informative, engaging and fun.
So cute and smart. Wish I could sit in his class everyday.
great professor- smart, enthusiastic and funny. tells exactly what you have to know, so go to class, make notes, study and you'll be fine. class was very interesting.
Good class. Knowledgeable about the subject matter.
Wonderful educator. Enjoyed his classes so much that I contemplated changing my major. Be prepared for a marathon when taking the tests, lots of writing. The more that you participate, the more that you will get out of the class.
Professor Warshaur is one of the best professors I have ever had at CCSU. Yes his classes are challenging, but you get so much out of his class. I have taken multiple classes with him, and each one was a great learning experience. And he is a great writer. Check out his book.
Knows more about us politics leading to the civil war then anybody anywhere. Great professor. Got an A but def worked hard for it and learned a ton of information. Highly, highly recommend.
Sat in a circle & listened to a summary of Amer hist since the Civil War for 5 weeks this summer. Should have been boring but it was GREAT. Prof. W was engaging, well organized, & a WALKING ENCYCLOPEDIA. Related everything to modern issues and did it with style. Like a good storyteller. Tests were fair and did not emphasize memorizing boring facts.
LOVED HIM!
Took this teacher for both 161 and 162. Great teacher! Took both classes during the summer. He discusses the events, instead of lecturing them. Gives a study guide of all of the important topics that will be on the exams so you are fully prepared. I suggest using a recorder for the class for the little details.
Professor Warshauer is by far the best teacher I've had so far at CCSU. He discusses the events of U.S. Hist in a personal way. We didn't use a text, instead used online resources. His lectures were fantastic & got me thinking of U.S Hist- made us listen to MPR. He actually cares about his students. 1 exam, 1 oral exam, & class partic = grade.
Professor Warshauer holds discussions, not lectures. He's very down to earth and inspiration with the material. There's only a midterm and final project. If you're interested at all in 9/11, definitely take it!
Very helpful feedback on written assignments. Kind Professor, considerate and respectful of students.
best professor ever. Please take him!!!!!
Interesting discussions and readings.
Dr. Warshauer is basically a walking encyclopedia. He is knowledgable, yet hilarious. His classes are discussions based on readings assigned for homework, so participation counts. Takes attendance every class. Only a midterm and final group project. You definitely walk out of class knowing more about 9/11 than you ever could imagine. Take him!!!
Awesome Professor who encourages you to open up on your views.
So, this is the first professor I've ever written a review for, just because i really do think he deserves a great rating. I took his 9/11 course and I loved it. He made the class very interesting and he's hilarious. In addition to this, there were like no homework throughout the whole semester, but he really encourages you to think critically.
Honestly the easiest class i have took so far. However, it is one of the most informative classes because you learn a lot from this class. He is a fun, caring teacher and wants you to have a better understanding of the world around you. A mid-term and a group project film documentary for your grade. I would take him again.
I took his 9/11 course and literally it was the best class out of all my courses this semester. Come to class, sit, and learn. NO quizzes, NO exams, NO papers! There's a midterm and a documentary film due which is fun. Very knowledgeable professor and I would absolutely take another course with him. I would recommend to any of my friends!
In Warshauer's classes you learn so much more than you sign up for. Going into this class, as someone who has never done well in history, I had no idea what I was about to learn. I took his 9/11 course and he opened my mind up to history and really helped me develop critical thought. He is hilarious and wants you to learn! Do the readings though!
Lectures are broad, and uncentralized which means the lectures are pointless to attend. I wouldn't even go however he takes attendance, locks people out of his classroom, and deducts points if you're late. The large amount of reading is also irrelevant, and never referenced completely. You can instead pass by watching youtube videos.
Assignments are open for interpretation which some people liked but it made it hard to score an A in this class. There are 3 assignments and a lot of reading it was hard to keep up. The class was enjoyable but the questions were really hard because they required so many different facts. There is an participation grade though which is easy to get
The amount of info presented in 9/11 history is so vast it's very difficult for any instructor to properly convey this info in an academically logical, and presentable manner. The prof is friendly, and available to talk for office hours however he expects you to understand vast amounts of info in a short period of time, and the readings are complex
Good man, hard class
He doesn't teach, he only picks random historical info off the history channel website, and talks about it. The only way to fail the class is if you don't cheap which everyone does since his tests are open book, open notes, open internet. Only a few people failed because they didn't use the internet for help. Easy A since answers are online.
Mr Warshauer is obviously only here because of tenure. Most of the class is him talking about his accomplishments, and engaging us for ideas for a book he's writing. Many of his classes are open discussion which means there's no reason to come to class. His grading is opinionated which makes scoring high grades tough. Also very loud (argues)
Unique teaching style, which keeps you engaged. Talks about 9/11 from many different angles - this requires you to do the reading, or else you'll be lost! Midterm is 3 most important things you've learned, and final is a documentary of questions students come up with surrounding 9/11. Mandatory trip to 9/11 Memorial and Museum in NYC.
Warshauer was cool. The 9/11 class was very informative, and he gives you a whole new perspective to it. It's very obvious that his ego gets in the way of his teaching style, he tends to just talk about his book and his accomplishments within the department.
A lot of reading followed by tests which don't include the information we had to read about. It adds a more open concept type of class and Mr Warshauer is enthusiastic about the subject sometimes, but since the course lacks structure I found it difficult. Barely passed with a C. It was very stressful. Thought I failed. Asks for feedback.
Very funny. Probs my fav prof at Ccsu and I hate history but he made it fun and interesting. 9/11 class is a great choice. Field trip was enlightening. Very little homework and as long as you listen in class (dont even need to take notes) youll pass. Take him!
Easy D- if you're just looking to fill some Gen eds! Great guy, tough course. A lot of material to cover in one semester!
Love this man! Loves what he teaches (9/11 Generation). There's a midterm and a final. Show up, pay attention, and you'll pass!!
This is the worst professor I have ever had. He is loud and obnoxious and a bully. He thinks he is a lot smarter than he actually is. His entire class is just about his opinion and if you do not have the same opinion as he does then your answer is incorrect. I have never in my life taken a class this boring and awful. He made my semester terrible.
Had to give him a good rating because he made the class very fun and intriguing. Going to class was fun and he covered a wide range of topics even if the main concept was 9-11. Really encouraged participation.
Very opinionated, very boring, and hes a jerk. He doesnt actually care about others opinions he just wants you to agree and thats it. I dont agree with anything hes said and I think hes just narrow minded and misinformed about POLITICS! I thought I was taking a history class, not a political class.
One of the best professors in the History department at CCSU. I have taken two of his classes in the past. As long as you keep a open mind and come to class you should not have a hard time.
(9/11 class) Barely has assignments except for a midterm paper and a final project. I emailed him a question during the first week of school that helped him with his blackboard set up but he made fun of it during class even though it helped him? He's funny sometimes but you don't really need to attend class in order to get a good grade.
Dr. Warshauer hands down is a top instructor at CCSU. For the War on Terror class he was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. He supplied us with readings that expanded our thinking. He strongly encouraged us to explain our opinions in class. As for writing assignments all he expects is that you pay attention to the guidelines.
Dr. Warshauer was one of my favorite professors this semester. He makes the class interesting, and is very clear about what he wants of you as a student. This was a tough semester for me and he has been very understanding of everyone and their individual circumstances. He has very few assignments during the semester and no busy work. I 100% recc.
Dr. Warshauer deserves so much credit. He took a hard semester and turned it into helping the students needs and making sure every student would do well. He gave amazing feedback, provided opportunity for revision, encouraged us to ask question in class and is not homework heavy at all. Taking this class was fun and I recommend anyone to take it.
Really great and super funny professor. Goes over multiple topics other than just 9/11. Class is only a midterm and a final so that might be tough for some but if you pay attention to his lectures and go over the readings you'll be fine. He goes over readings step by step in class so you can get a better understanding. Encourages participation.
Really chill professor. Easy class. I honestly pulled an all-nighter on the papers and still got an A- in the class.
Easily one of the best professors I've had at the university. He is very engaging and always makes sure students are understanding material. He's able to relate to students and is very accessible outside of class. Would 100% take again.
Relatively easy grader. Canceled a LOT of classes (not always in his control). We had great class discussions, despite him sometimes being somewhat unprepared for class (e.g. powerpoint errors, or simply no powerpoints). You can tell that he is incredibly enthusiastic about what he teaches, which is all one could ask for. Likes to joke around
The only professor at CCSU who can create from scratch and incredibly interesting class based solely on a question that doesn't have an answer (should society keep controversial political monuments). Lectures and discussions always go in unexpected directions (in a good way... keeps you on your feet, and you'll definitely learn a lot).
Vague instructions on expected work so asking to clarify is a top priority, he is willing to help any and all students so long as he sees they are trying their best and putting in the effort. He is very blunt and straightforward so if your feelings get hurt easily I wouldn't take it too seriously, that's just how he is. Great feedback.
Professor Warshauer is the best professor I have had at CCSU. His class is extremely well thought out and engaging. He truly cares about his students and you can see that through his teaching style. He loves to joke around with the class which makes the class better. There is a reason why he got professor of the year last year. 10/10
One of the greatest professors I have ever had. Made class fun and enjoyable, went over the material well and made sure we understood. Only graded on Exams which are easy if you pay attention and just study for a bit. Would take him again if possible.
Professor Warshauer is great! He is super knowledgeable about the topic. He just lectures but he makes the lectures interactive and interesting. There are 5 exams based on each topic; super easy, 25 questions and they're open note!
This guy is GOATED. I hate history, but this was GOATED as eff. So easy and I actually liked attending lectures and learning.
He's a good guy but his lecture style is a little boring or something I'm not sure there's just a disconnect. He was really into changing it and accommodating our opinions. He took over a month to return our midterms which made me a little annoyed. He's cool and people like him but maybe this was an off semester for him or something. I love zuzu!
I am a nursing student and legit have no reason for taking the class but I heard he was great and he definitely lives up to the hype. Although it's only mid semester, I already know this class will remain one of my favorites throughout. Theres only 3 things he grades: mid term (4-5 pages), participation, and final exam (a group documentary project
The work is only readings and two assignments. Very easy to get a good grade. All discussion based lectures.
He's the best and his class is too!
Great professor who makes the class fun and engaging. Covers the material well, with a focus on participation. While the exams can be challenging, using Unstuckstudy and the free textbook makes studying a breeze. Definitely recommend this course.
Professor Warshauer is the best, so much so that I took him for two different classes. He's very knowledgeable and passionate about the subjects he teaches. The readings aren't hard and while there is lots of homework it's really easy, just do it on time. Come to class having done the readings and participate and you'll do well in this class.
I liked Dr. Warshauer. I thought his lectures were interesting and I did learn a lot through his class. However, the professors ego constantly shines through and it gets annoying. HIST 321 involved a MASSIVE semester-long project worth 40% of your grade. There are not a ton of graded assignments aside from the midterm.
