He explains concepts very well, but expects too much extrapolation on exams. We don't care how tough your orgo classes were, so why make ours hell? I did well in the class, but I don't feel that I learned much since I had to practically re-learn everything for the MCAT. He has a great personality, but orgo does not have to be quite so difficult.

Weinschenk is one of the best teachers you will have at any point in your life, ever. He is a solely a lecturer, not a researcher, and his dedication to the class pays off, whether he responds to a detailed question at 3 in the morning or his detailed recaps of every lecture with extremely thoughtful critical thinking problems. MFW is the prof. for you if you like organization and are willing to communicate with him to show that you're a hard worker. By Emory standards, he's one of the best lecturers you could ever have. His tests, though, are insanely hard (and long) even if you study and know the material well, but he significantly curves. He actually doesn't grade LC.

Orgo is never easy and Dr. W will make you work hard to really understand the concepts. Straight memorization will be enough to do alright in his class, but you really have to work at understanding the principles of WHY the chemistry is doing what it is. 10/10 would recommend (even though I struggled real hard). Helpful if you ask for help.

Hands down one of the hardest classes I've taken but also hands down my favorite course I have ever been in enrolled in. MFW is so excited and passionate about what he teaches it's infectious. If you meet with him it is also a game changer, he tends to favor people he knows in certain respects. Exams are hard of course, STUDY STUDY STUDY A LOT.

PLEASE LISTEN TO ME! Weinschenk is extremely overhyped. He is not that great of a professor and his exams feel extremely impossible. I am not a bare minimum student and I do great in all of my classes, BUT HIS CLASS IS THE DEATH OF ME! So many students struggle. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE HIM PLEASE LISTEN TO ME!!!!

Weinschenk's exams are undoubtedly the hardest, but if you're passionate about chemistry, have done well in past courses, and have a vivid imagination, you'll enjoy them. His hints help you tackle seemingly complex problems, and solving them reveals connections to class material or upcoming topics, providing great satisfaction and "aha" moments.

Great lecturer; keeps you engaged; resources (QTPs, OYOs, office hours prelecture videos) are essential to your success in the course--complete them in a timely manner. My biggest advice is to stay on track and to really make sure you nail down your concepts, which is what the exam tests you on. Exams aren't as impossible as people make them.

W professor. If you want an easy professor take Mcdonald instead. If you want to learn and be able to apply concepts take this man. Lectures are very engaging and the cold calling is funny lowkey thought the class scripted. Its not hard to do relatively well considering its Orgo but you have to study to understand rather than memorize.

Dr. Weinschenk is a great professor, but the material is notoriously difficult. Staying on top of lecture material EVERYDAY, doing QTPs and OYOs, and attending office hours regularly and/or scheduling 1on1 office hours helps tremendously. Weinschenk's exams are hard, but he was always willing to go over corrections and study strategies.

Greatest prof at Emory. Lectures were great, material he gives is reasonable, and expectations on how to get an A are clear. On the notoriously super hard conceptual exams there's so much partial its hard to fail. If you can do the QTPS, not get too lost in class, and study you'll get an A. Definitely still a lot of effort and hours, but doable fs.

Dr. Weinschenk is a good teacher, but he has really unclear grading criteria. I think he curves more if you show you're putting in more effort which is subjective and not really fair. Exams were difficult and I always felt awful after taking one. His class/exams are stressful and mentally draining if chemistry doesn't come naturally to you.

He is a good professor and funny at times but orgo is simply just a hard class. He cares about the students and memorizes everyone's names which makes you feel seen in a a big lecture class. Orgo is just hard but C's get degrees!

I took weinschenk bc everyone ik glazed him. Initially, I wasn't a big fan of him - first test was dummy hard but he grew on me. Make sure he knows who you are. I highly recommend going to office hours and sitting in the front of the classroom to increase your interactions with him. Super caring professor, GOATED teacher. Got curved B+ to A-!

Probably one of the best professors in the chem department. He cares a lot about his students and what they learn from his class. My best piece of advice is to attend as many office hours as you can!! There is a curve but I wouldn't rely on it too much, especially since it seems to be dependent on how well he knows you.

His lectures are amazing and clear, and he still gives QTPs like he did in 203. Make sure to work with friends on the cOYOs (graded problem sets) since they can get pretty hard. I thought the exams were very doable.

Hardest class ever. WAY harder than all other profs. You're screwing yourself taking this by choice. Need a crazy understanding of upper level chem to be successful. He's nice but values relationships w students - a lot of people don't know what's happening. Doesn't really teach and expects you to deeply understand material before class.

I love Dr Weinschenk and I have so much respect for him and his perspective on chemistry. People fear monger his class so much, but with honest efforts and preparations, it is definitely doable. His tests are for sure creative, but he is a kind grader and really cares about his students. He is also very funny :( I love weinschenk

Great lecturer- engaging, funny, teaches well. HW is 1/4 the grade and fairly easy to get a 100 on. However, the exams are SO hard. Even if you understand the OYOs/QTPs, the exams are usually more complex. Also no practice exams given this year. The final was easier & grades are curved up by 1/3 of a letter (A-=A, B+=A-). Doable, but lots of work!

Everybody at Emory grovels about CHEM203, but Dr. Weinschenk makes it extremely fun. His explanation of concepts gives a great intuition into chemistry and I can confidently say his teaching made my chemistry skills better. Although his midterms are way more difficult than other profs, he's very open with office hours and GroupMe help.

Quality professor, difficult material and class. More difficult midterms than the other 203 professors, but has a different grading scale so it evens out. Cold calls in class (scary), but is very nice about it. Knows everyone's name. LOVE this guy, but you've got to study and work hard if you want a good grade.
