The book for this class is really good, and since all the tests are based on the book and not on lecture, you don't really have to go to class. I slept through all but 2 classes and got an A.
easy if you go to lecture. she is a very nice lady and is willing to clarify anything for you.
She is a wonderful woman. The course material is difficult but she makes it as easy and clear as it gets. She teaches in a unique way that no other teacher has taught in this topic. You will do very well and curves are very generous. The lab is just 1 paper. I highly recommend... unless you hate Bio
The class is one of the easiest classes I have ever had. Attend on test review days and you will get an A. She has a VERY heavy accent so unless your good with accents, stay away. I felt that I did not learn a thing, and I would have rather taken a class were I was not wasteing my money.
I even helped her with one of her research projects at the time. Great teacher. Most importantly, a great person. I have much respect for her and learned TONS from her too.
The teacher is funny sometimes. The class in not hard. She reviews whats going to be on the test. You can get a D on the test, and its still considered a B. The teacher is boring lots of the time. But you will pass her class as long as you come, take notes. You dont need the book for the class. Just to ask her a few questions before the exam.
Professor Mitrushina is a very nice lady, and is extremelly Knowledgable. She curves generously, but gives no study guides before tests, and doesn't give tests back. She also gives a cumulative final with no study guide, and no previous tests. The lab is a full APA research paper, which is way too much work, for a 1 unit class.
BEST TEACHER EVER!!! You learn sooo much great information. Lectures on all the issues you need for tests and tells you what will be on the tests. Labs are fun and informitive. CURVES so that you are sure to pass!!! TAKE 402 with MITRUSHINA you wont be disappointed. She DOES give a STUDY guide for the FINAL!
PROFESSOR MITRUSHINA IS ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSORS EVER, SHE MAKES EVERYTHING SO CLEAR N EVERYTHING SHE TALKS ABOUT IS SO EASY TO REMEMBER. IF YOU WANT TO A'S THIS CLASS JUST GO OVER YOUR NOTES ONCE A WEEK N FOR SURE YOU WILL A'S EACH EXAM N THE CLASS.
Professor Mitrushina is an amazing teacher. She really knows a lot about the topic and how to teach it in a way that is easy to understand. She's worried more about how much you learn rather than little mistakes you make on the exam. She makes the class easy, but you should consider taking her more for the fact that you'll actually learn.
If you aren't sure what type of student you are, you will figure it out in this class. She does a good job explaining the material. It is a difficult course, but you will learn a lot. It will prepare you for grad school people! Take her if you want to learn and get something out of school!
Dr. Mitrushina, You are the best teacher ever. She is kind. Helpful. goes out of her way to explain the material. gives thorough study guide. and she doesn't request that you buy a book for this course. I loved her teaching style, her accent and herself overall. I think I learned the most in this class about psychology that I did in any other class
Dr. Mitrushina is a fabulous professor. She is an expert in the field & wants her students to gain as much info from her as possible. You will learn so much from her courses. She is smart, kind, and one of the best teachers CSUN has!Take a class or 2 w/ her and you won't bedissappointed. Not hard, but be prepared to come to class and learn tons!!!
She is a real teacher. You learn a lot in her class. No book, No attendence, No project. Cumulitive final. Go to class and take good note off her lecture. You'll be fine.
WONDERFUL TEACHER! EXTREMELY HEPFUL AND EXLAINS ALL THE CONCEPTS CLEARLY!
Don't trust her curve. It's useless. Her tests are hard and she gives no study guide. Some of the questions on the test aren't even in the book or lecture but she still counts them cuz she says its part of the curve. Liar. I'm an A student and got a B. Study hard. Till you know the stuff backwards and forwards.
LOVED HER! THE BEST TEACHER AT CSUN! THERE IS NO BOOK REQUIRED SO U SAVE LIKE A 100 BUCKS THERE! TESTS ARE STRICTLY FROM LECTURES WHICH ARE EASY TO FOLLOW BECAUSE SHE GIVES A LOT OF EXAMPLES AND HER ENTHUSIASM KEEP YOU INTERESTED! THE NIGHT BEFORE TESTS JUST REVIEW YOUR NOTES FOR LIKE AN HOUR AND U HAVE AN EASY A OR B. JUST PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS!!
If you are not a good test-taker, don't take this class because that's the only way you will get graded. There is no book and no papers, assignments, reports, participation points, attendance points, or extra credit. Plus, it's difficult to understand what she is saying sometimes because of her thick Russian accent.
Professor Mitrushina is one of the best professors in CSUN. She is a very nice lady but definetly you need to be ready for the exams since that is the only thing you will be graded on. She lets you know in advance what you need to focus on to do well on her exams. Great professor!
she is an ok teacher.. she lectures just oraly no power point ... does give out a layout of her lectures.. kind of hard to understand.. if not a good test taker i dont recomend.. test are prety hard.. but no book
she is the best professor at CSUN!!!!..she knows her stuff and will make you learn the material. must attend class, oral lectures only, read the book for reinforcement and to get familiar with the vocabulary, because she uses the questions that are provided by the textbook. also an APA paper, not that bad if you took kazemi for psy 321!!!
Not good at teaching, expects you to know everything, tests on non-lectured material (Watchout) Not helpful, text book for class NOT GOOD, use lectures instead. Very hard class, APA paper she is not helpful you must do everything. Hard to contact her for help.
There's no book, and while this initially seemed like a plus, it wasn't. Everything for the tests are based off of her lectures, and you can't even understand her half the time. Her thick Russian accent and rapid pace made it rough going. No powerpoints, no writing things down on the board...pretty much nothing visual at all. Take someone else.
This prof. was one of the best I've taken. She does not lecture on powerpoint or by writing on the board. Therefore, ONLY take this class if you are a fast note taker!! Overall you will learn a lot if you go to class everyday. there is no book (which is good). I will admit she was hard, but if you study really hard you will do fine.
The only tip I give: Write down everything she says! You will get an A by doing this. Don't listen in class-just write! Later on, when tests come, that is when you learn what she was talking about! Do as I say and you'll get an A. She stays on topic...and is very clear.
A very good teacher, but her tests are hard. Use the book's website quizzes and the ?s in the book at the end of each section to study and you will do fine. Take good notes! She's really approachable and if you're having trouble, she will work with you. Loves her job. Little hard to understand with her accent at 1st, but you get used to it quickly.
She offers an internship at ILC administering cognitive tests to people with brain damage. DO IT! It's super easy, only 1 hour a week, and you get 3 units worth of GPA-boosting As for your services. It also prepares you for clinical work as you learn to develop rapport with patients. It's great and for a great research cause!
She is the nicest teacher and is willing to help. Her lectures are interesting-make sure you write everything down so you wont struggle in the tests. There are four tests, the final is commulative. No book is needed and attendance isnt required!
she teaches kind of slowly, and gets distracted when people ask questions. doesn't give a real study guide, just verbally tells you what's going to be on the tests, but really describes everything she taught in class. read the book and pay attention and you'll do well.
Read book and take notes and you'll get a good grade.
If possible, do not take a class with this professor. She is not clear. She gives a review for the exam but doesn't follow through with it. Her tests are very difficult and she is very "stingy" when it comes to grading. She may sound nice but she doesn't really care. She is like a robot. She wants to give the lecture and be done with the class.
You have to go to class or you fall behind. If you listen to lectures and read the book, you will get an A. Questions on tests are straight off test bank from the book so if you do the practice tests and do well, you'll do well on her tests. Shes helpful and grades on a curve. The material is a little difficult but she does her best to make it easy
Great professor! I have definitely learned a lot this semester. Her lectures are very helpful and clear. She uses some of her interesting personal experience to give examples, which is very helpful, Tests are based on lecture and some book material. She is very friendly and I would highly recommend her.
This professor is amazing. She's obviously well versed in this material and makes it all comprehensible. I learned so much from her, and enjoyed every bit of it. Only 2 midterms and a final. Your grade for the seminar portion is a research paper, that's it. Highly recommend this prof for capstone psy courses.
This professor is honestly one of the best I've taken so far at CSUN. She's well versed in the material, makes it all comprehensible by giving great examples...I highly recommend taking her for a psych capstone course. Her lectures grade consists of 2 midterms & a final. Her seminar is just a research paper, but she gives u a chance to rewrite it.
One of the best at CSUN! Her lectures are interesting and she gives plenty of examples that make it so easy to grasp the concepts. It is also a pretty easy class if you either show up to class and take notes or read the textbook. However, she does have a heavy accent so sit near the front. If you need this class you won't regret taking her!
This professor was okay, but the problem was that she actually took up 2hrs and 45 min talking about the topics for this class. Her lectures were extremely dry!!! Attendance was not necessary, but needed. I hear Harowitz is much better.
Really good teacher, sometimes hard to understand due to a thick accent. Overall very good though, she has a lot of real world experience and uses many fun and interesting examples to help students relate. Class consists of 2 tests and 1 cumulative final (no homework or papers). Class is very interesting.
I took her for only the lecture portion and in the summer. In interest of time, she cut out part of the normal course work. She is very nice and tries to explain everything. Some words I had issue with bc of her accent, but u get used to it quickly. Only bummer is that the tests come from the book, she doesn't write them so the wording can be tough
Very Intereting class, took her during the summer. She would tell us exactly what to study for the tests. Read the book, and follow the powerpoint, take good notes, and you'll be fine. She's helpful if you don't understand a concept.
The material is a bit difficult but she is very clear in giving all the information needed for the exams. 2 exams, 1 apa paper (seminar), and cumulative final. You have to read the book because her exam questions come directly from the book. She elaborates the material more in class. She is very knowledgeable in this subject! Take her!!!
Do not take this course during the summer session. Spent the first 3 and a half weeks going over 2 chapters, and a week going over material for 4 chapters (which were notably more complex) Very difficult tests based on the book. Grade in lab is based solely on APA paper, which she doesn't help much with besides the actual format. Not a good class!
Dr. Mitrushina is a brilliant professor who has an unparalleled knowledge base. She is both a Neuroscientist and a Clinician, which means she has the best of both worlds. She has inspired me in so many ways and is an amazing teacher. I had her for both Abnormal Psychology and Motivation. She even helped me gain a research position in Neuroscience!
Do not take if you can't deal with Russian accents. Smart and kind lady. Took the summer course with the lab. Starts slow but workload doubles within two weeks. READ AHEAD & STUDY OFTEN. Extra credit opportunities available. Would take again.
Maura Mitrushina is an incredibly bad professor, she often is disorganized in lectures and cannot even speak English. She gave me a D when I went to every course and my test grades were improving each exam. She is a bad professor and will come off as a bad human being. Take George Lough instead, class is a death trap with the final being 50%.
This is not an easy subject so the class is hard and you're gonna have to study. Prof Mitrushina is brilliant, she has a lot of experience in neurology & psychology. I valued her competence. She's a great instructor.
I took this class during this last winter session. I was worried because of all the information there was to learn in so little time! However, Dr. Mitrushina is a wonderful professor and gives great examples that help when trying to grasp difficult concepts. Don't be afraid to ask questions during an exam! She'll guide you in the right direction!:)
Good teacher, you actually have to put in work and study to get an A in that class. Which is why I think I've learned a lot. I would definitely take her again. Grade is dependent on the tests so make sure to study from the beginning.
Had her for abnormal psych. Lectures were pretty rough to sit through but she's helpful and smart. Get the book it'll help for the tests only 3 of them and that's all of ur grade. Thought I was gonna get a b but got an a :)
Dr. Mitrushina is such a knowledgeable person to have as a professor! The subject matter is extremely difficult, but she encourages people to speak up if they're having trouble following. Her lectures and exams are straightforward. They're hard but if you read and study, you will be fine.
Lecture is 3 tests. Lab grade based on one paper. Very caring, kind older woman! she has a thick accent so its really hard to understand her sometimes. she lectures without powerpoint so make sure you attend class so you can know what to study for tests. she does reviews before tests. I wish she would use PPW so make sure you're a good note taker.
Horrible and very boring lectures! Its very hard to understand her because of her Russian accent. You should get the book itll help you more than her lectures on the exams. I definitely wont take her again! She may be nice, but shes a terrible teacher.
She is nice but she has a heavy accent and you can not understand anything she says. You have to strain your ears to understand and most of the stuff she talks about are not on the tests. She give 3 test and no study guides. You do not learn anything from this class.
I think Professor Mitrushina's class was great. She grades from only 3 exams. She doesn't post the study guide online (you have to be in class to hear it). The gist of her exams are in the PowerPoint slides. You do have to read the textbook if you want an A in the class. Lastly, I really like that she doesn't take attendance.
She has an amazing amount of knowledge in her field. Her lectures are thorough but can make some fall asleep if not engaged. I had to sit in the front. No homework and # of tests are based on how far she gets with the material, I only had 2 and final. Grades on the curve.
Professor is very knowledgeable in her field, however her lectures can never a bit dry. You really have to be in class to take notes.
Her lectures are not necessary at all for her exams, but do show up on the date before the final to know what topics she wants you to cover, and be prepared, she goes fast. She teaches the soviet type, which is what I like. She also grades on a curve.
The professors accent was very heavy so it may throw you off. Lecture were too broad so you dont really know what to study unless you read. But the professor gives you a review of the test a few days prior to taking the days. She gives you exactly what will be on the test.
She is a nice woman but the lectures can be drawn out and long. It took us a few months to get through the first four chapters. Also, she doesnt do essays, the grades come from the exams so know the material backwards and forwards. Its also not a casual A for non psych students. She does have a Russian accent so sit near the front to hear her.
Awesome professor! She is intelligent and knowledgeable. I learned so much in her classes! I like best that she gives examples of patients from her practice. Very thorough in reviewing the material before exams: you always know what to study. Exams are not easy, but she curves grades generously. I wish she would teach more classes.
Dr. Mitrushina is an excellent professor, very organized and willing to answer questions. Makes learning fun. She is also available to discuss any questions after class, in her office, and online 24/7. I emailed her questions on three occasions and every time she responded within 10 minutes! Highly recommend her.
Maura Mitrushina is the best professor I had at CSUN. Very fair and straightforward. There are two midterms and the final. Would take her again.
No other assignments to help your grade it was all just based on the tests. Even after covid19 hit, she would not give any extra credit or assignments to help the students grades. The second exam was two topics to pick then write an essay on them separately in 75 minutes and the last test was cumulative.
She is kind of hard to understand and follow along with in class, because she has an accent and also talks sooo slow. The only grades are exams, and aren't too hard but not super easy either, but theyre multiple choice 50 questions. She's alright, the class just kind of felt like it was dragging on everytime.
Easy assignments you retake online until you get the point. 3 tests + cumulative final. Tests are common sense and you don't even need to study. Lectures so slow but skip class and read the textbook and you'll know everything. She does answer questions quickly and thoroughly. Material is common sense.
Professor is demanding, but the class is well organized and she tells you everything you need to know. Put in the time to study, pay attention when she tells you what you need to know and you will do fine. I took her class on Zoom, so it may be different, but there were four tests.
I loved Dr. Mitrushina's class! Lots of work, but I have learned so much! She is caring, helpful, and smart. She doesn't try to trick you and is straightforward about what you have to know for the tests. She is always available to help on Zoom after class and provides lots of extra materials.
I don't know how I feel about this professor. The zoom lectures were beyond pointless because it is just her reading slides. Just do the assignments which are basically games and do the pointless paper and you will get an A. All of the exams are on quizlet
Great professor! She tests on what she teaches. You won't need to read the textbook. She explains everything and gives examples. I just took the final and literally every question was answered in her lectures. Wish I could take more classes with her!
Great professor and really enjoyable experience. I am well outside the age range for a normal undergraduate student but Dr. Mitrushina made me feel welcome in her class. Expect to be challenged and use online resources for practical applications. She i extremely accessible all semester.
An easy A class, just do the assignments (basically lil games/puzzles) a movie paper (super simple). You can work at your own pace, everything is available from the start. If you don't plan to attend Zoom, make sure you read to know you're not behind.
An amazing professor! She is kind, smart, inspirational, and gives you all individual attention you need to do well in class. I can't wait to take another class with Dr. Mitrushina.
Loved this professor. She provided extra credit assignments as well. Would definitely take again. One easy movie paper. I learned so much from this class. tests were super easy.
I loved her class and learned a lot. Really caring and knowledgeable professor. Made the material interesting and down to earth with examples from her practice. I would take any other class she teaches.
Great professor. She will repeat if you don't understand something. There will be 4 tests and one very enjoyable paper!
Super easy class. Attendance was not mandatory but she has great lectures. She gives easy extra credit assignments. no crazy assignments. just one movie essay that was super easy to write. she was very lenient and helped change the final exam time for me when I had work. 10/10
She is amazing, smart, respectful, and funny. She gives you feedback one-on-one over Zoom. Also, she has a good sense of humor.
Dr. Mitrushina is the best! She responds to emails right away and actually cares about her students. If I had to take the class again, I'd take the class with her again.
Love this professor. Very caring. Since our class was all online, we only had lectures. There were 2 midterms and the final. Take this professor by all means.
She is the best!
The nicest professor and most knowledgeable I've ever had. 100% recommend.
Hands down, the best professor at CSUN. Lectures were interesting and very organized. She is always trying to relate the material to examples. It's obvious that she cares about her students and will go out of her way to help you. Tests are fair, but you do need to study.
Great professor! Lectures were very interesting and she always made sure that students were grasping the material. Grade is mainly based off two exams and the final. Exams were mostly straightforward and doable. The class in itself is interesting, overall great choice.
She is amazing. Great resource, do not be afraid to ask her questions or use her help, she makes it readily available for you..She truly wants you to learn and understand the concepts and is caring of students and their schedules. One of the best teachers at CSUN.
This is by far my most favorite class I have taken. Her lectures are amazing and she is really passionate about the subject. Lots of content. Make sure you're ready to put in effort. She is very smart, gives resources to learn the material an wants to make sure that everybody understands it. I would 100% recommend her class.
If you show up to lecture and pay attention this class isn't very hard and you will do well. She grades her exams on a pretty nice curve but I thought they were relatively difficult and kind of tricky. She does offer extra credit that helps prepare you for the exams. Also a minus, she doesn't update canvas so you don't know current grades
Loved this class and Prof. M! She is a great lecturer, classes are fun and engaging. No homework, 2 tests and a final, and she covers what will be on the test. Easy and fun class, highly recommend! Would take any class Prof, M teaches. :)
