Hilarious, amusing, and a great teacher. She will teach you alot and you will still have fun in class.

I took her for all my required english classes (ENG 111, 112, ENG 299). I received A's in all. She was a great teacher that loved to tell stories and would often lose track of the time. She liked everyone as long as you were quiet when she talked.

THe most unselfish person I've ever met. She may talk alot and go off tangents but she is an overall excellent teacher. Easy grading, helps you improve but offering suggestions. Might have some ideas of her own, but is open-minded. Also, her brownies are pretty good that she brings once in a while to class.

Easily the best teacher I had in my semester at UM-Flint! So long as you can adapt to her wacky sense of humor, you will laugh out loud in class every day. She does go off-topic a lot, but that's what makes it fun! I love English, but even if you don't, she'll make it enjoyable for you.

The absolute BEST English Professor you will ever have. Walks you step-by-step through every paper, tells you exactly what she expects, and rewards every extra bit of effort you put into the class. Plus, she's utterly hilarious!

She is kind of wacky but a good teacher. She loves to talk and tell stories. She really cares about her students. She is an easy grader but she does expect you to write alot. Sometimes she totally exhausts me but she also pursuades me to work without me even realizing it. Expect to want to pull your hair out a couple times, but it will be worth it

Great teacher!! I took her for English 111, 112, and 299. As long as you are willing to do the work that you are paying for you will do good. Show up to class on days when a lot of people wont and you will get extra credit. Fun stories and let's you write about things that interest you! Take her!!

Dr. Thum is a really good professor. She is a tough grader on papers, but her criticism is very constructive. She is a very funny person- she is constantly cracking jokes, which makes the otherwise dull class a lot of fun. I would recommend her to anyone. My only complaint is that she isn't very good about returning email.

Dr. Thum was great! She tells you exactly what she wants from you and your assignments. Used the textbooks she assigned a lot. She offered many, many opportunities for bonus points. A lot of work, but the work was very easy.

While she is very helpful and DOES care a lot, she gives out a LOT of busy work. Sometimes my Honors classes get in the way of the rest of my education. This class takes up a lot of time.

You know why some people don't like Thum? Because she makes them work. A little redundant at times with her stories, but Dr. Thum will overhaul your entire college-related life, and it will be for the best. She is a good and purely intelligent woman. I respect her.

Dr. Thum is very helpful with everything that has to be done with your college experience. She made us learn a lot, but that will eventually benefit us. Going to continue with the Honors program becuase she motivated me to do so.

Dr. Thum was and is an absolutely amazing teacher, she is there to help whenever ANY student needs help. Honors or not, take Thum if you can, you'll work hard but it will be completely worth it. On top of being a phenomenal teacher she is an outstanding woman with lots of character. The work habits that she taught were worth taking the class alone!

Although we didn't use textbooks, there were guides that we used every single day in class. Dr. Thum at first seemed a little intimidating and I was tempted to drop the class only a few sessions in. However, I'm so glad that I didn't because she taught me a lot about work ethic and gave me a thorough understanding of grammar and essay writing.

She can keep lecture entertaining sometimes when she makes random comments or goes off elsewhere about Canada. She cares about how well we do. She is willing to help. I didn't find the class that difficult and I am glad that I am a part of the Honors Program. I never even thought about dropping! She paces us really well, which relieves some stress.

Thum is so awesome, she's the best teacher ever. She's hilarious, drinks tea, and gives out stamps!! It doesn't get any better than that. Also, I've learned so much from her classes about school stuff and just life in general, oh and Canada.

Dr. Thum was an interesting teacher. Thum's sense of humor and stories about her Canadian heritage often motivated me to come to her class. She was very helpful. Her binder instructions kept me very organized throughout the course and even helped get me in the habit of staying organized for classes after ENG 111. This is a teacher who cares!

Thum is a great person, but not necessarily a great teacher. She veers off a lot in class into her stories, which are entertaining but also not necessary to listen to. She assigns a lot of busy work so if you can stay on top of that you're all set.

Dr. Thum is a very kind professor who does a pretty good job. She takes the responsibility of teaching English very seriously and offers a well structured English course. The only downside to Dr. Thum is that she sometimes drags out classes with crazy stories instead of giving us time to do something more productive. Overall a great professor.

Thum is an interesting character. She makes you do a lot of prelims for your papers and you basically have to be a hoarder with your assignments. She is VERY specific with VERY high standards

Thum is AMAZING!! She was fair, forgiving, and amazing. If you show up, try hard, and do your work then you'll get a really good grade! She is really funny and has you do really good papers. She likes people who do her work, and there is always one piece of busy work to be done every class. But that busy work is really easy and can be done quickly.

Dr. Thum made my first semester of college! ENG111 was my favorite class this semester. She is an amazing teacher. Goes off on tangents sometimes but pretty funny. You have to attend class in order to pass, but you are never bored while you are there. Every class she outlines what is due that day, along with what is due at the next two classes. As long as you do all the work she assigns and turn it in, you will not fail. Often offers "bonuses" if you do things early as well. Lets you redo papers.

Follow the class outline schedule. It explains everything that is due and assignments are easy. You'll work on majority of the paper in class get ready for peer reviews and reading you paper out loud to group members. This really helps fine tune your paper. She allows for regrades and rewrites easiest professor to talk to.

Dr. Thum was nice and sweet when I had her for HON 155. However, the workload was endless for that class. I spent entire weekends doing nothing but honors homework. It was exhausting, depressing, and not fun. My quality of life improved immensely when I quit the honors program -- a move that I fully recommend if you're still in it.

Dr. Thum is fantastic. Her lectures are hilariously good, and she cares about her students and their successshe's the sort of teacher who WILL remember you long after you've left. She has high standards, but is very clear about her demands... frankly, if you don't pass, its your own fault for not listening or not trying.

Dr. Thum holds high expectations for her students and is willing to talk you through assignments so you understand. She assigns long papers, but these papers help a lot in the learning process! Homework is a given and easily finished if you manage your time correctly. Hilarious, jokes about being Canadian, and obviously loves what she does.

I absolutely loved this class. The workload is not to heavy, nor is it that light either. She knows how to balance the work we do very well, and she is also very understanding as well. She gives great feedback, and also gives students who do really well to tutor other students in class. A great professor and an amazing class!

Even though the course provides difficult material and multiple assignments, I do believe Professor Thum prepares students for the future. The class is humorous and rather easy going.

Show up, take notes, write papers is basically it. You'll learn the routine and it'll become easier. If you can't get down with the workload, drop it.

Dr. Thum is amazing! In the beginning, it was really stressful, but it died down after the first two weeks! There is homework due every lecture, but you can BS it and still pass/get an A. Thum also gives extra credit which is nice! :D

You get a easy paper like every 2 weeks or so to do, but they're all from personal expericence. She took us on a trip to Canada! She talks about Canada 24/7 but easy, easy, easy. Her classes always get filled fast REGISTER!

She is a funny lady, but she starts class off by giving us at least 3-4 tasks to complete for the next time. She doesn't grade our work, except the big papers, her honors kids check it. I took her because of the reviews, but the class just wasn't for me (and I love English!) She hates BB and ALL assignments must be printed! Pages & pages of them...

Great English teacher, there is the usual amount of work for an English class, but she makes class EXTREMELY interesting and keeps you captivated.

As a freshman it was very nice having her to help transition from high school to college-she helps outside of just things in her class, she had us drafting what we wanted for our schedule the next semester. Dr. Thum is a great professor and she wants you to succeed. If you follow instructions and do the work then you'll be great. It's a lot of work, but it's not difficult. She is always willing to help. The Honor's program as a whole is worth it especially if you are interested in attending a graduate program.

Her grading was fair and lenient. Shes easy to talk to as well. She does have a lot of homework, but most of it is simple. Its a tedious class, but an easy one. You dont need the bedford book she says to get, so dont waste your money. For her lectures, you dont need to pay attention till group activities start. She cares about her students.

Dr.Thum was an amazing professor although you have a lot of assignments it isn't hard to get them completed. She's the only professor I've had at this school that allows you to make corrections and try for another grade. Also, she doesn't penalize you for late work like most of the other professors. Weekly Zoom meetings are a must,

Such a good professor, her class and assignments were easy, zoom once a week with easy and quick group discussions. She is good at responding to text and allows for assignment corrections. She talks a lot but that is better than getting called on to answer questions. easy credit.

Prof. Thum's ENG112 class can be a bit of a workload, but she makes it engaging. The assignments are manageable, and she's lenient on late work. Unstuck AI was a lifesaver for prepping. Overall, an enjoyable and rewarding experience.
