Hilarious and quite entertaining at times. Tests were based on take-home quizzes, so nothing comes as a surprise. Class text was web-based with most of the important points covered. Very generous in extra credit as well.

Very easy class, and she posts all the test questions online beforehand. All her lectures are online too, so you don't need a book. You don't really need to go to class for the material, but sometimes she gives "pop quzzes" simply for attendance purposes (but she gives the answers to them.)

Great teacher...she is very easy to take...would strongly recommend to take this course online instead of Polly Phillips that lady is the devil reincarnated...everything is given to you...no way you cant get an A in this class

Just print out the notes, go to class everyday, and do all the homework. Study off of the study guides and homeworks and its a definate A. Take my word for it.

If you dont mind the drive to the biscayne bay campus you should def. take her course over the prof. that teaches at up. As long as you read and study her study guides online then you should be fine. very nice lady

I took her class online and she was ALWAYS willing to help and responds her emails fast. Her quizes are EASY, but the tests are kinda hard... but bareable!! She is overall a good prof and very nice and helpful!

Took the online version, easy but you need to be very self-disciplined. Don't wait until the last minute to do your assignments & tests (it is very easy to procrastinate). But Prof. Walter is straight-forward and helpful with everything.

Easy class. Gives 4 exams, drops worst grade (final optional). Study review; it's exactly the test. Learn every word. Do the extra credits; they add two % to final grade. No need to attend class although she might give quizzes to see who actually comes. I didn't even attend 10 of the classes and got an A cause I studied the reviews. Take her!

Teacher well recommended. Once you study the reviews, you will pass the exams. Teacher drops the lowest grade therefore final exam is optional. Teacher is also very flexible with assignments so there is no way you can fail this class.

Online: This class is a piece of cake! The quizzes, midterm, & final are really easy and you can always refer to your notes which is great! The articles you have to write responses to are fairly interesting. As long as you pace yourself, you'll do amazing! I will be taking her lab online next semester! :)

Awesome teacher. But I was a little bit disapppointed because I had an average of 88 and I felt she could have given me the two extra points to make an A. Study her reviews and there is no reason to fail this class. She is very helpful and gives good advice. She explains everything in details and makes sure you understand it.

She was a very good teacher. This Physiology class would have to be the first science course I ever done so well compared to the other science classes I have taken. She gives us reviews to study b4 the test. I would recommend her if you need Physiology.

She was great. I had her for physiology and she gave these review tables for each exam and everything in it was on the exams. It helped me do really well in the class and she drops the lowest exam grade. Because I did so well on all three exams, I did not have to take the final.

She does give a review, but sometimes not EVERYTHING on the test is on the review. You should still read the book! She gives small curves on tests. The reflection paper is an easy A grade booster. Drops the lowest grade (even the final if you want) She teaches real slow, don't expect to finish everything on the syllabus! Worth it.

I heard she is alot easier than any other BSC teacher FIU has to offer. But for me it was very hard to memorize all the words. To get an A, your practically have to memorize all the assigned words she gives you. I got an A but I had to spend lots of time memorizing and for me memorizing is not easy at all. Can't say much about her personally since I took the course (Biology lab) online, which is the best decision i've made at FIU so far. Online requirements are a breeze, just keep up with the due dates. Got an A, no sweat. Had no problems with her/her grading at all.

Best bio teacher in FIU!!! You have the best chance of passing if you take her. 25% of your grade is homework, and class assignments. 75% is test grades. She does not curve, but questions come straight from her reviews. If you memorize everything in her reviews you will pass.

She tries to make it as easy as possible for you to do well, but there's a TON of material to study so it's still not an easy A. You really have to do your part, but she's your best shot at a good grade. If you're happy with a B you don't need to go to lectures or read the textbook, just memorize her reviews. Maureen Walter is a Great Professor! LISTEN to her lectures! STUDY her REVIEWS for exam. And you can get an "A". Super knowledgeable about Physiology. Uses confusing, detailed words in talking about the subject but will always explain things to you until they're clear. Will help you if you need it. Very helpful; Read when you can, and study the Study guides up and down, and you'll get an A.

You do not need a textbook for this class, she will provide the reading material for you although sometimes you can not find the answer in the reading every now and then. Alongside the test you have to post 2 discussions and 2 replies per test (there's 2) and it's all split into 2 halves, don't wait til the last minute! Great class

She is very hard to get into contact with. But the class is simple enough. Everything is available online, you do not have to buy a book. No on campus tests, the whole class is online. It is an easy class, I was nervous to take it online but I have an A in it now. The only downside is her availability, she hardly answers emails.

Overall good class and would recommend professor. I underestimated the class in the beginning and waited till the day before to study. 3 exams-40 questions worth 2.5% each, so you have to be really careful if you want an A or A-. Prof. Walter is great! She understands that this class is for non-science majors and tries to simplify the information into the least technical terms possible until you understand. She doesn't require a textbook so that's a money saver. Her tests are slightly confusing but the reviews are good. She also does extra things to bring up your grade.

Dr. Walters is a pretty good teacher had her second half for Biology 2. It is very easy to get a good grade with her just study the review which she gives prior to the test which was 90% of the test. Her lectures are pretty boring but they are not mandatory and she does not use a book so another plus!

BORING. She lectured on and on, and then got into her personal life. Her reviews were so extensive that they didn't even really help with the tests. No textbook, just powerpoint slides and the reviews. It's easy enough though, just be prepared for the boredom.

Professor Walter is good at keeping up with her lectures. She gives a total of 4 tests, each containing 4-6 chapters, and a cumulative final (all worth a total of 500 points). There are learnsmarts due before every class, connect quizzes for every chapter all due the same day of the test, and sometimes she has clicker questions(adding to 100 pts).

One of the greatest professors at FIU, I definitely recommend her to anyone who is a science major. She gives a complete review packet for all of her test, with everything you need to pass each test. She also gives several opportunities for you to make up points on connect. Definitely take her it is worth going to Biscayne Campus.

Do the extra credit (easiest extra credit ever), do the mini assignments, show up to lecture when you need extra clarification with any material, and STUDY STUDY STUDY for the exams. I guarantee you'll pass if you put forth enough effort with all those things (especially studying! Not hard to do, carve out the time to do so, it's worth it).

In my experience, the lectures didn't really help at all. However, to pass the tests all you have to do is study a lot and from the review she gives you. No book needed! All questions come from the review and you shouldn't procrastinate. She's a quick grader and provides students with the chance to get extra credit.

Professor Walter cares about her students, she's always updating the class on her office hours and availability and she encourages students to see her before and after class. PLTL is not offered and honestly it's not needed. She gives you a study guide before every test but really just read the text book! You can not just rely on the guide.

She was an alright teacher. The first 20 minutes of the class she usually went on a rant saying how we do not focus nor put enough effort into the material OR she starts talking about how students take advantage of the "letter of recommendation system." But besides that, she is a good teacher. She knows her stuff and is there to help.

This class was an easy A. DON'T BOTHER GOING IF YOU'RE GOOD AT STUDYING! Her study guides guarantee you'll pass every test with an A. She gives three in-class exams and a final with the option to drop one of them, assigns one paper that she gives full credit on as long as you do it, and she doesn't take attendance.

The best thing about this class is you don't have to show up. She doesn't take attendance and she posts up a study guide before the exam which is basically what you need to know. Know the material and you should be good. Final isn't mandatory. 3 exams plus the final. 2 extra credit points which are easy to get. Paper worth 15%. Easy enough class.

The tests cover info that isn't really in the slides until later in the semester. She averages retakes for all the quizzes and only has a midterm and final, and discussion posts. Class is totally doable, but sorta forces you to read the slides while doing the quizzes. She posts all the info, so no book needed

Very good professor. General biology tends to be straight memorization of information, but she makes it much easier to understand. Lectures can be a drag, but she is willing to help you as much as she can and gives clicker questions for extra cred. Tests are tough, but if you study reviews, you're good. She also gives tips about life and college.

A lot of work but SUPER EASY. You are supposed to read the book, which is the only way you learn anything so pretty much you have to teach yourself. The chapters are super long but the truth is if you just want to pass with an A and don't care if you learn anything every single question is very easily googled. No proctored exam...

Such a nice professor and her class is very easy. You never have any homework, but I would recommend going to her lectures. I, unfortunately, ended up with the 8am class, but it's necessary to attend her class to pass her exams, and she does clicker questions. Her exams are very easy, since she gives a study guide for everything on the exam.

when the first and second period open up you can literally do the all of the work within the first week (quizzes & labs). there is a quiz after every chapter for the lecture but its super easy as well as the lab and its corresponding quiz. first period of lab is kitchen based and second half isnt. highly recommend. NO book. very easy A.

This professor is great! I would definitely take this class again. There are 3 tests that are not cumulative based exactly on study guides provided. Memorize the study guides and you will be perfectly fine. You don't have to take the final if you have a good average on the other 3 tests. There is extra credit and easy clicker questions.

Awesome teacher! She is super helpful and grades extremely fair. She drops your lowest test grade. Also, she gives clicker questions for a grade. As long as you do the reviews you will definitely pass!

Great professor! Knows a lot about the subject and has some very interesting stories to tell. Really nice woman and very knowledgeable. Lots of homework but the exams are easy as long as you study the reviews which pretty much covers everything. great class.

I took biology lecture online and there was the whole half of the semester to do the quizzes and 4 responses. She was super accessible and responded very quickly. Easy online class!

The first half of the labs are easy done-in-the-kitchen labs. They can be worked on in groups. The second half is reading some articles and answering questions, and a 3day long activity and food log. Fair grader and her TAs are fast at responding. She gives u a due date and you finish on your own time. Highly recommend. Exam 1 easy, exam 2 decent.

good teacher! her lectures are kind of boring and long but she gives out a really good test review for every test and for the cumulative final. she also gives alot of extra credit including a workshop that bumps your average up 3 points. didnt use the book that much . u will be fine.

Best biology professor I've had so far. She actually cares about students doing good and passing her class. She understands we are humans and things happen in life. I wish I could have taken her for bio 2.

This professor is good, you just have to go to class o get the points for the iclickers. the lectures are kinda boring, but its a huge class not much she can do about that. The exams are easy as long as you study, she sends excellent reviews for every chapter , also the final is an easy A as long as you study. Great professor :D

Easy class - would definitely recommend. Two exams, multiple quizzes that correlate with the lab information and 11 labs you complete over the semester. They usually are just questions or simple labs with household items. Took this with the lecture and with CHM 1020 L/CHM 1020 Lecture. Just pay attention to the due dates!

I took her online class (and lab) and it is taught at your own pace. She sets up a deadline for the assignments and 4 discussion posts (2 sets of these). She reminds you in advance when it is close to the deadlines so you shouldn't fail. She creates outlines for each chapter but they are quite lengthy & readings are tedious. Don't procrastinate!

Honestly, all her work is a piece of cake. For the lecture you mainly have to do quizzes and 2 discussion post (which is not due til 3 months after so you have a lot of time to do it). Anyone who says 'she gives too much work' is lying. The reason they say that is because they do everything literally the day before its due.

Her class was really easy. She splits the semester in two parts and you have about 3 months to do about 9 quizzes and 4 discussions that can be done in a month. So you have a bunch of time to learn the material. She is super nice and understanding also.

She's easy and gives you a long time but do not procrastinate !!! doesn't matter how easy the class is if you don't finish all the assignments you will fail.

You do not need to purchase a textbook! She is awesome!! She gives you all the info up front, plenty to read and super informative. If you read you will do great on the quizzes and exams. The course operates as a go at your own pace with deadlines, however if you have an issue she, or her TA's respond back quickly to emails.

Great professor, very interactive teaching style. The lectures are very informative, she's a sweet heart and is funny. Had fun learning but slacked off too much and earned a C in an easy class. The exams aren't too hard. Good intro into Bio sciences.

The class is very easy. The labs are a little bit tricky but she will help you if you need help. Follow her instructions and you will be fine. The tests are not hard and are based on the notes which she provides. She responds quick to emails. Enough time to do all the work.

I LOVED THIS CLASS!!!! Taking the bio lecture online was the best choice I have ever made. Didn't need to buy the textbook, didn't have to go to lectures 3 days a week, no papers just discussions. I had an A the whole semester its all easy quizzes and the online notes are easy to follow and interesting. 100% recommend this class.

Since it is an online class you do much of the learning by your own, but overall it is very easy class. Most of the quiz and test answers you could research online which makes it very easy but overall is an easy A as long as you keep up with the work and are able to study and do research on your own.

This class is so easy! All she wants 8 postings and about 15 quizzes more or less and 2 exams. She gives two 2 months to do everything 4 posts, 10 quizzes & 1 exam for the first half and the rest for the 2nd half. I believe it easy but its literally up to you if you want to procrastinate.

Not a difficult course by any means. The "textbook" is provided online, and it's essentially material copied and pasted from another university, which means a ton of information related to it and the assignments is available online. The quizzes are all very easy and tie back directly into the readings, e.g. verbatim definitions.

Overall an easy online class. All the information for the quizzes is in her notes, read those and you will pass. The discussions were super simple as well. There are two exams which are the same questions from the quizzes. If you do the work, the class is an easy A.

I took it online and she has it set up so that half of the material is due by midterm week and the other half is due by finals week, aside from that there aren't any deadlines. Each half has about 8 modules each one with a section from an ebook and a quiz. The midterm and final are very easy, the answers are all on quizlet.

She is super clear in what is expected and does NOT except late work. She divides the semester in two so you choose how fast you want to complete the assignments. You can wait till the last minute or do everything right away. If you do the work on time you get an A pretty self explanatory.

To be clear, I am either going to end up with a B+ or A- in this online course. This class is easy and manageable. She divides the class in half. Her grading criteria is CLEAR. She does not provide extra credit but there is not need to do any. Most of your answers come form the lecture, and you can use quizlet. Only two exams. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Took online, it was cake. class is divided in half, first 9 quizzes due all at once, last 7 due all at once. a midterm and a final. everything is on canvas, questions are straight from the reading. Easy A if you put in even the slightest bit of effort.

This is an easy online class as long as you are on top of your work and don't leave things for the last minute. The class is divided into two halves with all the work due on one date. All the work is easy and found online. Professor isn't so good at communicating. If you want an easy A take it, if you really want to learn, don't.

This class is an easy A if you space out the work and do it little by little. Half of the class is due by the middle of the semester and the other half by the end. If you really want to learn, this might not be the best class for you but if you are an independent learner and can manage your time this class is perfect.

It is a fairly time consuming class. The quizzes were easy and all of the answers were on quizlet. We had a virtual fetal pig dissection as the final, which was a bit gross. She says the deadlines are set in stone and then extends them for the whole class. I have had her twice and she did this both times.

Professor Walter is amazing; she caters to her students needs and is very lenient. I emailed her about a personal issue and she was very understanding. Her discussions, quizzes, labs, and tests are very simple and straight to the point. I 10/10 recommend her!

GREAT PROFESSOR. Her class consists of 12 modules with one quiz per chapter, 2 major exams, and no papers. She leaves all work open depending if due during first or second half of semester. Completion of work is based on your speed and dedication.

Easy class with lots of work. Labs on Simbio are not easy, some are but some require more effort. Professor allows you to pace yourself throughout the semester by keeping all work unlocked. Personally, no matter the amount of work, it was very easy.

I took her for lecture and lab online and it was the easiest class i have ever taken, she is very clear with her grading and answers emails. Discussions, midterm, final and that's it. Very straightforward and her lab class is the same minus discussions there are lab activities as well that are very lengthy overall super easy.

Easiest online class I have taken at FIU, professor is very good with communication. Textbook can be found online for free but you must purchase the pearson lab access. Grades are entirely bases on quizzes, midterm, final, and 8 discussion post. This is a self paced class, all assignments are due either at the end of the course or halfway through.

The professor makes this course simple - 16 quizzes, 8 discussion posts on articles, midterm, and final. Everything in these quizzes and exams is in the text she provides, and since it was an online course there were only 2 due dates for everything, so one can go at their own pace. Since the course is online, be ready to teach yourself!

The course consists of 6 quizzes, 6 written assignments, 6 SimUText assignments, a midterm, and a final. Since the assignments involve your own thought process involved, she can be a bit picky and tough when grading, but overall, the course shouldn't be overwhelming if one paces themself and doesn't turn in everything the day before.

This class was easy but annoying because I took the lab and lecture together. The lab assignments were very tedious. All the work was split into half which I liked. Also discussions. Quizzes and exams both the lab and lecture class. It was online. But shes an easy grader

Such an easy genetics class and lab. Take her. Work is divided and 1/2 is done on one due date and the other half is due like a month and a half later. Ample time to do assignments that are very easy. The textbook is given on canvas so everything is online. Highly recommend this class.

This is a professor with a horrible attitude . The class is overall really easy and simple even though the grading criteria/ instruction is not that clear. Do not expect sympathy from this b-itch. Everything has to be turned on time and if youre expecting help or any guidance on something you wont get it.
