Lots of paperwork, but overall not that bad
BEST teacher I've had @Towson so far;do lots of classwork n some hw but its easy
VERY BORING...this class is such a joke and people should be able to pass out of it...didn't we learn this stuff in like 3rd grade???
Easy and fun. Some parts are challenging, but she always explains them to you fully and never lets anyone NOT understand something. Creative and not as boring as I thought it would be.
She is so awesome !!! Email her and tell her when ur absent, she'll have the work 4 u when u get back !!! Definatley take this lady !!!
She's the best math teacher I've had... ever. She always lets you work in groups so the 2 hours goes by a lot faster than sitting listening to a lecture.
Is a tough test grader, tests are about 8 pages long, and she is only part time so she is never in her office. Nice lady but boring and drags class out. I would still take her though compared to the other professors.
AWESOME TEACHER! she is so easy and very helpful. . . if u ever need help, she is always there to help! I would def. recommend taking her if u need to take the class!!!
i hated her. doesn't explain anything, if math isn't a strong subject DO NOT TAKE! I ended up with a B in the class, I taught myself everything.
GREAT TEACHER!!! Always willing to help and really cares about her students. Teaches at a fast pace but literally gives you every possible opportunity to earn a passing grade.
One of the nicest teachers! She is so sweet and is willing to help you out if you need it. The class is pretty easy too. Just show up and you'll be fine! She definitely helped me understand math a little better!
I absolutely loved her. She is one of the best teachers I have had in my entire life! Truly cares about her students and wants them to succeed. She takes time out of her lessons to explain things and walks around the room to help students individually. I was exempt from the final because I was doing so well...she is great!!
This teacher is incredible..she is sooo helpful and soo understanding..her class is very interactive and fun...there is NO lecture..it is all classwork..there is homework but she doesn't collect it until the end of the the unit..her tests are not hard and her grades are VERRRY fair...She was amazing I would recommend that EVERYONE take her...
She is quite possibly the worst teacher I've ever had in my life. She was extremely inconsistent and unfair. She has played favorites all semester and has told multiple students different answers to the same questions. She is horrible!! DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! It's worthless and I haven't learned a thing!
i took this class online and it was horrible. the work itself is easy but this teacher was so unorganized, unclear and the final grading system is unfair. either english isn't her first language or she just sucks. do not take this class
Avoid this prof at all costs. She gives no directions and when she does is extremely unclear. Never responds to e-mails. Her assignments make no sense and plays favorites. Also, her grades make no sense. I enjoy math a lot but strongly disliked this course due to the professor.
If you're not very good at math I highly reccommend. Professor is very unorganized. Class was supposed to be split half lecture and half MyMathLab, but she always ran over on the lecture time. She is very helpful and it's basically impossible to fail. It's sometimes frustrating being in class because of how slow she goes.
She is an awesome professor, VERY HELPFUL, very lenient and understanding. She will go out of her way to help you understand the material. But, if you have a hard time in math (like never taking Trig) you may have a hard time. This class is fast paced, but take good notes and come to class and you cant fail! You should have at least a B-.
Pretty do-able class. Some people failed b/c they never went for help. She seems kinda confusing until u understand her teaching style. She's REALLY nice. GO FOR HELP & show her that you genuinely care about understanding the material & she'll do about anything to accommodate your grade. I never used the textbook &she's bad at responding to emails.
very unclear teaching. not helpful. rushes through material. thank god for the internet... so i can teach myself.
she showed up unprepared for the final exam. didn't even have it printed! unprofessional and unorganized. assignments that are assigned were "busy" work with no real value.
I'm actually surprised since I thought Yarnevich would have better reviews but anyways she's really nice and willing to help if you need it. Also she's lenient and I did not have a hard time in this class at all.
She was very disorganized, but she was a very good teacher. She does go through the material rather quickly and doesn't really go over the material that much, but it is an easy class. Just pay attention, the calculator really does all the work anyway
Dr. Y was the nicest professor I have had at Towson, sometimes the way she explains things is a little unclear but the quizzes and tests are easy and she gives you chances to make up missed assignments and is super helpful. One of my favorite professors so far.
The only thing that was difficult was that it was online, so everything was crammed together into 3 weeks, she was always available to answer questions and was so nice! Would definitely recommend.
This class was a breeze. Dr. Y is very nice and she helps the students a lot. I took Trig in high school so that made this course very simple. The online homeworks take a while, but she allows unlimited retries on problems so you get a 100%! Very simple to pass the class and I highly recommend!
Wow, best professor ever. She is so down to earth, yet has a high position in the university. Take her, you won't regret it.
She's a wonderful professor! Will always help you and explain things clearly and thoroughly if you don't understand; you just need to ask. Super sweet and really cares about her students! Always offers opportunities for extra points, and is clear with her teaching! Makes mistakes here and there, but she's still great! :^)
Loved Dr. Yarnevich! Hard to fail her class. She really cares about her students, helps in all ways possible. Often makes mistakes but they're understandable and humane lol. She gives A LOT of worksheets but they make tests and quizzes easy, explains them all. Only thing you need is My Math Lab. I strongly recommend taking her!!
Great Professor! Pre-Calc is not supposed to be easy, but if you work hard, you'll definitely get an A in this class.
Although, I didn't do so well in the class it was not because of her. It was me personally. She did everything as a amazing professor. She truly wants u to do well and will go t of h help you, you just need to meet her halfway.
I love Dr. Yarnevish! She cares so much and will bend over backward to make sure you pass or get a decent grade in her class. Still, this class is tough and you definitely have to earn your grade but speaking as someone who is HORRIBLE at math just go to class and ask for help whenever you need it. I bombed an exam and still got a B+ in the class!
LOVED this professor, best I've had in all of my years. I sucked at math my entire until i took this class and passed it with an A+. Hands out a ton of printed notes which is really helpful and is always open to questions. Online and written homework but she always extends the due dates if you forget or something. Highly recommend her.
Took her class over the summer for 10 weeks. Thought it was going to be terrible b/c I hate math. But, the coursework wasn't unreasonabled and she was awesome! She always answered emails quickly and helped a lot. I took this class while taking another 5 week course, which got a little overwhelming but once I finished that, this class was easy.
She is a really good professor. Takes time to explain concepts and information. Very clear in instructions, and has a good sense of humor.
Don't get the textbook, gives you printed packets of lectures/notes on topics. MyMathLab Heavy, lots of hw due every sunday (sometimes every other sunday). 3 Exams and a couple written/online quizzes. EASY Grader. gave extra credit before. Very caring, clearly teaches the material. I recommend her, especially for 11am. Get a math study group!
Awesome teacher. I had her my first semester at Towson and she is just incredible. Makes a 2 hour class on thursdays (lab) worth it. Very responsive, to the point, and willing to explain things. Also has a great sense of humor.
She Grades a lot of class work as quizzes or homework grades so come to class!
A nice lady, she is a little too fast when she teaches, but is available for help during office hours or by appointment. Test are a little hard, but does give you a study guide. Takes a while to grade & to hand back test. Homework are worksheets and on MyMathLab. Notes are n/ based on powerpoint slides, she gives u the handouts & they r a lot.
She's a very nice lady, however she is very forgetful. She would tell us one thing, but the textbook would say something else. For someone who isn't good at math, this was hard for me. If you are strong in math, youll be fine. If not, I would choose another professor.
Unorganized, the online class is overwhelming because everything is scattered on blackboard. She is not good at explaining things especially virtually. She really should not be running an online class.
She is definitely a very caring person, she puts out a strict vibe but she is really sweet. She is really good at teaching and answers questions thoroughly. You do not really need the textbook, but you do need the access code.
For someone whos horrible at math like me, she makes me want to join the math club! Im not going to though. She breaks things down, will make sure you understand the concept. Her tests are straightforward so as long as you put effort in youll be fine. The homework assignments are due when the test is so you have time but dont wait last minute.
Take Professor Yarnevich! You won't need to buy the textbook as you'll have access to it on MyMathLab and she hands out packets for notes so you rarely need to bring a notebook. She uploads notes online sometimes and classes get cancelled every now and then because she has kids. Easy to get in touch with and lenient on attendance.
Took her online. Every week is a lot of work! Started out knowing when everything was due and organized but as the semester when on the days and time change along with the organization. Kinda annoying for people who like to get work done. The work that you have is easy but just a lot!! Didn't really know my grade. She is nice and answers email/text
She gives you a lot of work but is always willing to help! Often gives you the answer if you just ask. She lets you know ahead of time usually when test will be and what will be on there. Pay attention and just try. I recommend her if you know most of the basics. She is a little unorganized and you dont know your weighted grade until the end.
I took her as a hybrid class and the class is not necessarily hard but she is horrible with communication. Since we only meet once a week and have a lot of online assignments it would be helpful if she responded to emails in a somewhat timely manner. She is also bad with uploading grades and not clear of what is due.
We had 4 Unit test in this class. Maybe 3 or 4 Mymathlab quizzes. She gave us a written homework packet and we had homework on mymathlab. It is kind of a lot to keep track of but if you ask she will help. She usually pushes back the mymathlab assignments until the day of test so you have extra time. Overall she is nice and caring.
I took pre-calculus with Dr. Yarnevich for my second go around as a summer course. She made it much more understandable for me than my previous professor did. The workload was pretty high (lots of written and online homework) but really cares for her students and helps them when they're stuck. Definitely take her for pre-calculus if you can!
I was never good at math but I liked this class. She's like a high school teacher, lots of worksheets, putting your answers on the board, online homework. Take her if you can.
Took the hybrid class with Dr. Yarnevich and I have to say I got lucky with this professor. She grades work in a reasonable time and she is always available to help you inside or outside of class. Take 119 with Yarnevich.
As someone who hates math, I LOVED this class. Dr. Yarnevich is so awesome, extremely understanding, and caring. She has a lot of warm-ups and worksheets which allow for your grade to boost easily and are really good practice. PLEASE TAKE HER IF YOU CAN and don't be afraid to communicate with her about problems going on because she will help you!
She gives you a lot of material to study off of which helps. This is a lower level class so it was pretty easy, but if you struggle with math she is really friendly and willing to help. She's disorganized but I think she knows that so she'll push back some deadlines and tests to make up for it.
Best professor I've EVER had, i wish i could have her for all of my math classes. She is super structured and organized, super understanding. The exams were very similar to the homework, classwork, and quizzes. She's super helpful as well. DEFINITELY TAKE HER FOR ANY MATH !!
She is the best professor for math. I wish I could take her for high-level math too. and she is always available to help you inside or outside of class. She gives homework, quizzes, and warm-up but its math class we need to do some practice to understand. There are 4 exams which are very similar and easy as homeework problems.
She sets up the online class to be successful. It really impossible to get anything lower than an A in the online class. Dicussion boards are due on Saturday's and warm ups and homeworks are due on Sunday. You have in total about 3 exams online and some questions on paper that you need to turn in.
Lots of worksheets, but generally easy if you follow along and stay attentive. Pretty normal class, not too extreme in one direction or the other.
Professor Y cares about her students. She is very lenient when grading. She gives a ton of homework, but if you pay attention in class it is manageable. She posts lecture videos in case you need extra help, and she gives answers for almost everything so you can check your work. Nice, practical and I recommend.
Dr. Yarnevich is an amazing professor and really wants her students to succeed. There's a lot of homework, but she posts answer keys and gives study guides before each exam. I always struggled with math but ended up getting an A in her class. Take her if you get the chance!
Not going to lie, she is work-heavy! You must attend class. It was online, but she uses a software where you write work "up on the board" so the whole class can see your mistakes. Its HARD. I would not take if you just need an easy A. But if your a CS or Math major, you NEED her. You will be prepared for Calc if you take her! I've learned so much!
She is really good at teaching and fair at grading. Even though she is a bit unorganized and gives a lot of homework, in the end it helps you learn. The best calc professor for sure.
Dr. Yarnivech is a fantastic professor. She made online math not draining or mentally challenging. While she may give a couple of assignments a week, they are manageable. Her lectures help a lot and she is always willing to answer questions. She really does want you to understand the information! Just dont fall behind.
I wish all professors were like Dr. Yarnevich. She was able to teach her information in ways that made it easy to understand, ALWAYS answered questions in class or outside, and would always give extensions whenever errors occurred with softwares, weather knockouts, etc. She is also super nice and was just a real gem during this semester.
She is a wonderful professor, but MAN, she goes SO FAST!!!! Had her for online class, and I don't think she realized that people were just using online math software to complete her classwork because she expects you to finish like 10 questions in 2 minutes, and the rest of us just copied off other people's answers! Wish she'd just SLOW DOWN!
I'm taking her asynchronous online precalc class. She's not terrible, and the content is easy, but her grading style is awful. I've had several assignments marked as zeros before the due date (I know, I checked), and she takes off a lot of points for small mistakes. Not horrible, but take someone else if you can.
She is a wonderful teacher. YES, you have to work, but its Precalc, so duh, you have to do your time. This is the first teacher who I actually understood EVRYTHING with. She even puts extra videos up to help you solve homeworks. If you don't do well in her class, you won't do well in Precalc period because she is the best teacher I've had.
I took pre-calc before with another professor but I am currently re-taking the class with Dr. Yarnevich. She has made it remarkably understandable and assigns small assignments (warm-up, exit tickets, etc.) leaving room to earn as many points as possible towards your overall grade. This is the best math teacher that I've had. #1 Pay attention
Great professor! Made math very easy to understand
Her class was a breeze. I really enjoyed it, she was always available for any questions or concerns from her students and was always happy to help. I wish more professors were like her tbh.
Overall just a horrible professor, do not take her for your own sake..
A horrible professor. She's not afraid to openly humiliate you in front of the whole class & is a very rude person in general. I wasn't able to learn much math in this class bcuz she always shows the answer immediately after asking you to solve something. She always comes into class with an attitude & doesn't make her 2hour class enjoyable at all.
Don't listen to the other students saying she is a bad professor. She gets mad at students that don't attend lectures and/or are late. She is excellent and extremely reasonable if you attend and are on time.
I LOVE HER TEACHING . 10/10 recommend, I usually don't do good in math but would get 100 on the tests. I just didn't do the homework which why I got a B. She's an amazing teacher and as long as you pay attention and practice you'll do amazing. Didn't even have to put in a lot of work outside the class.
Cool teacher, very understanding of everything. Gave homework but made it quick and easy, was very helpful in math. Gave test reviews and then answer keys through email, amazing teacher!
Dr. Yarnevich is one of the best math professors I've ever had. She cares a lot about her students and allows people to make up tests/quizzes you did poorly on. I'd give anything to have her consistently. Just do the work and participate in class and you'll receive an A.
the class was easy, but some students still found it hard professor Yarnevich is still patient and understanding to teach step by step, very great professor.
Dr. Y is an amazing professor. She goes in detail, always ready to help, gives extra credit assignments and her teaching style is very easy to follow. I would definitely recommend taking her.
Dr. Yarnevich is an amazing professor. She is very caring and cares a lot about her students fully understanding the material. She is very accessible for help outside of lecture during office hours and via email. Would take her again.
The worst teacher ive ever had. She was very rude throughout the semester and was no help. Absolute worst.
Absolutely awesome professor took her last semester I usually really struggle with math but she always helped me whenever I went to office hours. Able to pass easily Don't understand the rude comments from people if you show up on time and try she will do everything in her power to help you.
Honestly thought this class was hard & hated the professor but I realized the content is fairly easy to grasp. Her instructions aren't as clear, but taking time to practice outside of class really will help gain a better understanding. Though, if you need a guided teacher that will explain every single thing detail by detail, I will not recommend.
This Professor was horrible, she would give us so many papers and wouldn't give students a chance to catch up. Yelled and berated us when we couldn't do a problem, and assigned a test when the whole class didn't understand the lesson. It's November and my grade has yet to be put in the grade-book. 0/10 would never wish this class on someone.
She's honestly not that bad. Yes, her instruction pace is very fast and isn't explained in depth, but she makes it clear that people need to learn and practice concepts outside of class throughout the week. Math isn't something that can be practiced only once or 2 times a day. If you're a slow learner who needs someone by their side, don't take her
i had prof. yarnevich for summer and I finished the class with almost all assignments graded w 100/100. there were no zoom meetings so everything was on your own, if that's your kind of thing and pace, take this online!! i always finished assignments ahead of time and got great feedback on missed points.
Professor Yarnevich is a good person. Most of the stuff due is online, she really wants an active class, and will call on you randomly. She expects a lot from her students, kind of grades randomly and will put random classwork papers in as quiz grades. So, I'd suggest doing everything she assigns. She will make you work with the people next to you.
This was my favorite professor by far this semester. Shes a pretty good professor; she wants you to succeed. Go to her office hours if you are confused; it helped me a lot. There were a lot of assignments, 65% of which were online, but the work was manageable.
