great!!!! Ask him about juggling.
Very interesting way of teaching... Easy class, just pay attention to his way of doing math and you'll do fine on his tests. His tests are taken directly from the notes and examples he gives you in class, funny guy and very... interesting.
He was a very clear and understanding teacher. He has a good juggling analogy for handling material, and he's always available for extra help. He knew everybody's name in our class and often tried to call on everybody. That really makes a difference in a larger class. I highly recommend taking his class because he is clear and gives lots of grades.
sometimes hard to follow in class but very nice. always willing to help and notices students trying really hard to do well.
Don't worry, you only have to take this class if you're a math major, math education major, or you're just plain craaaaaaaaaazy. I'm not gonna lie, it's a hard class, but not because of Hendon, just because the material is very hard. He is a very nice guy and a pretty good teacher. I'm sure he would love to help any of his students if they actually took the time to go to his office hours.
He makes a very difficult subject easy to understand. There are no surprises on the tests. If you go to class, pay attention, and do some of the homework, you will understand both the algebra and calculus part of this class. He's the best math teacher I've ever had!
Mr. Hendon takes a difficult subject and he breaks it down into steps that everyone can follow. He is very helpful and genuinely wants to see everyone in his class succeed.
Proffesor Hendon breaks things down so that you can understand everything. He is a very patient teacher and always makes sure you walk away understanding the material. I have taken him for two math classes and have been very satisfied.
Hendon's really nice. I enjoyed going to class even though it was early. Beware if you've never taken calculus before. I had a hard time. I got a C and i worked for every inch. My roomate took him and got an A. She said she thought it was straight forward. I just thought it was hard never being exposed to calc before. He's a nice man either way.
If you have taken Calc before you wont have that hard of a time in his class but my only problem was that he make you do PROOFS for EVERYTHING. I learned how to calculate derivatives but he never just gave calculation problems, all concept! Not hard but not something you wanna do all the time.
i HATE this class. If you've had calculus or you're really good at math, you'll like his class. He's a good teacher, but REALLY hard. He teaches well, but hte tests are hard. Ive failed miserably on two tests and gotten b's on the other two. this class WILL hurt your gpa. don't take it unless you're willing to focus ALL your work on this class!!!
Hard class. He is a good teacher, but I wish he would let us do math instead of explaining why stuff works. This class is too much why and not enough what. It will definitely hurt your GPA.
Oh lord this class was difficult. He gives no examples of how to actually do problems in class, so be sure to do the work from the book even though he doesn't collect it. The tests are hard because he throws twists into his problems, so you really have to know the material well. Unless you are 100% committed to math, do not take his class.
Mr. Hendon is a good teacher, speaks English and he isn't opposed to bumping you up IF YOU TRY HARD. I did very poorly on the first test but I went to his office hours almost every chance i had and I ended up with a B. AGAIN his tests are tricky but if you work hard, do the homework and go to his office hours then you will get a good grade.
Great teacher! I also took Calc 3 from him and he's just a great math teacher, he explains everything well, and finds ways to relate the material to the students so it makes sense. His class isn't necessarily easy, but it's not hard as long as you pay attention and do the homework.
It's a TERRIBLY hard class. Not becuase of him, because the material is terrible. I got a low grade on the first test, but then I went it to talk to him and my grade slowly went up. You won't get an A in this unless you're a genious, but I managed a B. Had to work the hardest I've ever had to work though. Amazing teacher, just hard material
This class was incredibly hard. The material is hard and he tries to explain why and seems to forget the how. He is amazingly brilliant and will help if you ask. I advise getting help early and talking to him.
Very willing to help outside of class. I spent a lot of time in his office working problems with him. Not always clear. He clearly tries the best he can, but the class is a weed out. Overall, not the best teacher but an OK one.
Hendon is by far the best teacher I've had at UGA so far! His class isn't easy, you do have to work at it, but if you're in this high up of a math class you should care about actually learning what you're in class for. As long as you pay attention and work hard you'll do fine. Of course it also helps to have a study group! :)
He is just GREAT!! his class is definitely not easy but if you pay attention in class, take good notes and go over them before you take a test, then you will be fine. plus he is very helpful and nice. i enjoyed his class.
He makes class interesting and is a smart guy. I thought he was condescending sometimes, but most people love him so I may have been too sensitive. :) Definitely does not grade on time but is prepared for class.
Somewhat tough class, but not impossible. His lectures are very long and slow and drawn out. He is smart but his intelligence is not that impressive. A decent professor but not the best. His tests are pretty easy as long as you come to class and study the notes.
He is a great teacher. The tests are very straight forward, he does not try and trick you like a lot of math teachers do.
I'm sorry, but the "take notes, study, and go to class and you'll be fine" claims are lies! Maybe if your version of "fine" is a C. I did an A+ amount of work in this class and my grade did NOT reflect it. He's a good teacher and great guy but I didn't feel like the homework or classwork prepared me at ALL for his hard tests. But fun class anyway!
He is the type of teacher who loves to make his students confused. Whatever question you ask-he will turn it around and will never give you a straight answer. I studied over 10 hours for EACH of his tests, and never made higher than a 78. I worked so hard in that class, and it NEVER paid off. The typical thought of go to class and study DOESN'T WOR
This professor is out to trick you on the tests! Be careful!
Not a difficult class if you study the notes from class and do the homework. If you don't have natural math ability I'd recommend a different teacher though, since he can be confusing.
He is an excellent professor. He teaches alot of cool stuff and makes you think alot =) He explains very well. You will need to work for your grade though.
Mo Hendon is a great professor. He's affable and willing to tutor his students who struggle. His courses are usually pretty tough because he doesn't shy away from teaching the hard stuff. Luckily, he explains it clearly... ...even if you're a moron.
He is an excellent professor, and always available during his office hours for extra help. I found his tests to be a little on the difficult side, but I highly recommend him as a teacher. He made class very interesting and fun.
Professor Hendon is awesome. He is helpful and always tries to get the class to joke with him. It's an interesting course and has some great real-world applications and would really recommend it especially if you're not the best at math!
Take him. Mo is a great guy, get to know him early. Very helpful and hilarious at times. I didn't get a great grade, but I got what I deserved. Study. The tests are over basic concepts of the chapters.
Mo is the man! He is an awesome professor. Definitely take him if you can. He makes the material easy to understand with things he brings in from out of class. Definitely go to office hours and show that you care about the class. While you will need to study for the class, getting an A is easy if you make sure to know all the material. Take him!
Hendon is awesome. He is very clear and he stops and slows down for questions if needed. I would take another class with him in a heartbeat. Office hours help a lot. His tests are straight forward too.
Very good professor. Kind of a smart ass, but explains things really clearly and in-depth. He doesn't just assume you know things -- he breaks them down and asks you questions so you get to figure things out on your own. Going to class every day is generally not necessary if you can figure things out on your own.
Wow! He has as much of a gift for teaching as he does mathematics. He is an excellent teacher and inspires his students through his passion and curiosity about mathematics. Some in the class thought his tests were a little hard b/c they asked us to apply what we learned in class rather than simply repeat a calculation similar to a class ex.
Mo is awesome. I definitely recommend him for this class and any other class for that matter. Definitely go to class, while it isn't mandatory it is extremely helpful. He made the class interesting and enjoyable. Plus he is really personable and easy to talk to in office hours, and really helpful too. Definitely take this class with him.
Great teacher and even better during office hours. But hes totally puffed up about his teaching and classes. His tests are also much harder and different from the HW and notes he gives. I made an A from the 2 classes ive had with him, but I think ive had enough of his teaching.
Great professor. He's a really cool guy and he even knows how to juggle. His way of teaching was perfect for me. My only problems was his test would be out of say 30 or 40 points and only have 5 questions. so missing one question would kill you. Still ended up with an A. would easily recommend him.
Hendon is great. Take him for 1060 if you have the chance and need the class. Relatively easy if you put a little work into it and he makes sure to explain things well and takes questions. Great guy.
Hendon is a great teacher. This is my fourth class I have taken with him. He's just that good. His class is interesting and if you put the time in you can do well. Just make sure to do his recommended problems and go to office hours for help if needed. The class in general was hard, but if you have to take it I definitely recommend him.
Hendon was really great. I had to take a math, and this not only seemed like the easiest, but was the easiest. He's sarcastic, but not a jerk about it, and is really good about explaining concepts. Tests were easy if you went to class 90% of the time or more. Take Hendon, he's bomb.
He's the man. I got a C on the first test (pledgeship...) but picked it up the rest of the semester because of him. He was very helpful and a great teacher. Would definitely take again
He's monotone but the class itself was quite interesting. I didn't put the effort and didn't do the hw (not all are required), so i got what i deserved. Put in the work/do the problems. don't wait till last min. Go to class, it will help and his helpful during office hours. very nice man and he accepts questions. tests are hard if you don't study.
Great teacher. He has a great sense of humor and wants everyone to do well. He uses props and examples at least once per week, and uses them effectively. Homework is optional unless he tells you (and he only graded maybe 3 homework assignments all semester.) Tests are not easy but they follow what we learned in class. Take this class!
Hendon was a fair teacher. He's flexible with regards to assignment dates and test dates. He gives homework a few homework (one problem questions) to check your progress. His tests are fairly hard but come from the lectures in his class. Study for his tests and go to his office hours! That's the only way to get a good grade in Calc!
Mo is awesome! He is extremely helpful, especially in office hours. He is very clear when teaching in class. His tests are extremely difficult... but your final grade doesn't necessarily reflect your exam grades. He won't curve exams, but will help you out some on the final grade. Fair grader, amazing teacher.
he is honestly the best teacher I have ever had, he explains everything so well and knows the material like the back of his hand and can translate the information over in a crystal clear manner.
I ended up dropping his class. Overall, he's really nice, but his tests are impossible. He doesn't take grades very seriously and when my money depends on those numbers, I can't risk it. I personally hated his teaching style. Too loosey goosey for me. It was never direct and I never knew where in the book we were.
Never any clear information given on what exams would cover - and in fact, almost every one contained at least one or two questions which received only brief coverage in class and were featured in no practice problems. Never grades homework, so you get essentially 0 feedback on how you're doing. Great lecturer, but awful tester; do not take Hendon.
Very helpful during office hours, but tests are very difficult. Try to know concepts and how to solve the problems for each unit tests.
tests extremely difficult. Have to retake the class.
Being a math major, I have had almost all of the math professors in the department. Hands down, Mo Hendon is the BEST. His teaching style was unconventional, to say the least, but you learn so much without realizing what your doing. His tests follow directly from what you do in class.
I have taken tons of math classes and by far Mo is my favorite instructor. Some people said his class is HARD but what do you expect from Calc 3? He teaches you what you SHOULD learn. His lectures are extremely useful. Get engaged with the material he talks about! Don't just passively copy what he writes on the board
Unless you absolutely have to, don't take Maurice Hendon. He teaches the course like it is a theory class but tests you on equations. My class was cut in half because of students dropping, and probably about half the class fails every test. Mr. Hendon wants you to do well and tries explaining things, but he often just confuses us more.
Really nice guy who wants you get it. He explains everything pretty well and always wants to answer questions. Only 3 tests and a final and he writes his own for both. I had AP calc AB in HS and this class was all review. But I'd definitely he's say one of, if not the, best calc 2250 prof at UGA. Also attendance isnt mandatory which can be nice.
Mr. Hendon teaches really well using conventional ways to teach the math concepts. He only gives recommended homework and does not test you with complicated problems. Fairly easy version of Calc I if you have already taken AP Calculus.
Hendon is an excellent teacher, you can't argue with that. However, you don't always know where he is going during a lecture and his methods are unconventional. Tests are HARD. He always throws in twists and turns. Do not take him unless you're willing to do a TON of work outside of class and often to office hours, as well as predict the curveballs
I would highly suggest Hendon to anyone! He really knows his stuff and makes classes as entertaining as possible. Office hours helpful, and he is very understanding. Must put in the work but worth it in the end!
Hendon is a good professor who keeps his lectures interesting and compelling. He is a nice man, and is very helpful at his office hours. I' d definitely recommend taking him, but his tests are quite difficult.
Hendon was a good teacher and wanted to help you succeed. Didn't assign any homework which might sound good but it made the tests extremely hard to prepare for. Three tests and a final were the only grades so you have to do well in those. I really enjoyed his classes. He cracked a lot of jokes and made calculus bearable.
Mo is a great teacher for this class and explains things very clearly. Don't bother getting the book. I only used mine for practice problems not for reading because he teaches differently from the book. Find the pdf version for homework problems. Class takes some gettihg used to but the tests are fair.
He is a great teacher. He definitely knows his stuff, and can teach accordingly. He really challenges what you know about math- he has a knack for asking a seemingly easy question, but then pointing out something that can change your outlook. He teaches so you understand math, not just memorize formulas. He truly wants you to learn the material.
Mo is a really nice guy and wants his students to succeed. But his lectures are fairly unorganized and hard to follow and he takes FOREVER to hand back tests. He's willing to help if you seek it out, and his tests aren't incredibly difficult. He's very approachable.
Excellent teacher, really challenges students to understand the material. He is very broad about test structure and grading scale, but if you study your notes and do some of the practice problems- you'll do fine. He is very helpful in office hours, so go! He assigns homework (most are optional), but do them all- they help with test concepts.
Mo is an amazing professor. The way he teaches this class will have you struggling a little, because he introduces each topic as a separate entity before finally connecting them all at the end. He will assign homework but never collects it, however if you don't do the homework you will have a lot of trouble int he class. Take Mo if you can.
Dr. Hendon is a great instructor! He is easy to understand, which is great since there isn't a textbook. Be sure you take notes! Your grade at the end is based on some sort of curve, I ended up with a B but was really sure I had failed the course. So yeah, just pay attention, takes notes, and go to office hours and you will be fine!
Mo is easily one of my favorite professors. He makes you learn and fully understand the mathematical concepts rather than memorizing the information. He is very good at explaining the material and presenting it in an interesting way. Sign up for his class if you can!
Professor Hendon was one of my favorite professors. His class actually made me want to have a math minor. His homework is extremely helpful, so do it!!! If you do not go to class you will not be able to see the homework (he writes it on the board), so going to class really matters. Other than this, this class was one of my favorites!
Out of all the math professors I've had, Mo has been my favorite. His lectures are interesting enough, the tests are tricky so you have to know what you are doing, but they are fair. But Mo seems really interested in what he's teaching and is easy to understand, which is great.
Mo is by far one of the best professors at UGA. He is very caring about his students and wants to make sure every student learns & understands the material. His notes for linear algebra are beautiful and help a lot with learning the material. He works at the class's pace and often stops to check everyone is on the same page. Take Mo for linear!!
I have had Mo for several of my classes and would take any class that he is teaching. He Is my favorite teacher in the entire math department and seams to be one of the few teachers that really enjoys his job and seeing his students succeed. In office hours he is patient, non-judgmental, willing sit and help you work your problem at your own pace.
His lectures are very helpful and he actually cares if you learn or not. If you dont understand something hell repeat a topic until the students gets it. Would definitely take again.
I would highly recommend him! He's very good at explaining concepts and will happily answer any questions you have! My only issue with him was that there were "trick questions" during lecture where I just wanted him to get to the point. This is countered by his helpful and funny way of teaching that genuinely stuck with me.
Two things to pass his class which I didn't take seriously were: Do ALL homework even if its not for a grade and review your notes after class. He's a really nice guy who cares about his students and will help you pass. I personally got lost in his lectures but he does know his stuff and will help you where you need it.
Mo is an awesome professor who truly cares about students learning the material, not just memorizing for tests. It is necessary to go to class, otherwise you probably won't know what's going on. He loves class discussion. You'll learn a lot of math definitions, terms, and the basic outlines of proofs. About 1 HW/week, 3 tests & a final.
He has some really good lectures. He writes everything super clearly on the board with the steps clearly shown. Taking notes for his class is easy because of this. The tests aren't too hard. As long as you do the textbooks practice problems he recommends, you can do well. He does go over important stuff in each class so skipping isn't a great idea.
One of the best professors I've ever had. Makes material easy to understand and is a genuinely caring professor. He knew almost every student by name. Doesn't assign homework too often, which is the only bad thing I can say about him. (no homework means you only have your notes and the textbook to study). Tests are reasonably difficult.
Grat and funny. Made all the lessons interesting. Would take again
I found Mo to be very condescending. He is a good lecturer and you will learn a lot of interesting ideas. He is a harsher grader than other math professors (he takes off a lot of points for very minor/irrelevant mistakes). He does not reply to emails which is really annoying and he takes months to grade. Overall he is a nice guy, but a bit annoying
This was a new, Advanced Linear Algebra class that UGA was trying, however I felt like I needed a foundation for it that I did not have. I was often confused in class and the professor was really quiet. He was very nice though and when I did go to office hours he was able to help some and is patient with students.
Even though Mo was a great teacher, the topics in diff. eq are still super tough. My mistake was not asking questions when I needed to. The exams are hard to study for because he doesn't assign many homework problems, so it's important to know how to apply the knowledge. I'd recommend Zapcic, but Mo is still pretty good.
I could do more and go to office hours but honestly never knew what I didn't know unless he just sat there and retaught everything. He is not good on zoom, uses a document camera and writes on paper. If one person says they understand or no one answers anything, he just moves on. Bad grades on things do not make him think he needs to change anythin
Dr. Hendon is a really caring professor, but that doesn't change the fact that linear algebra is difficult because of how abstract it can feel. He is good at explaining the material, but exams test for a solid understanding of the material, so you have to prepare with that in mind. Office hours were super helpful. Def would recommend!
Dr. Hendon really cares about his students and how theyre learning. The biggest help is to ask questions during class and make sure youre understanding as you go. He happily will spend as much class time as needed to make sure youre understanding. If you dont ask for clarifications, he keeps going. Easily one of my favorite professors at UGA!
Dr. Hendon has a talent for making mathematics interesting even when it's something you've learned multiple times before. He often sidetracks the conversation to talk about more advanced concepts or more tangential stories but still manages to convey the material well and keep it engaging. I highly recommend taking a course with him if he's there.
Very few grades and tests are quite hard, but he makes the tests, so the practice he does in class helps. You dont know your grade overall until it is due to athena. Helpful over email if he responds. He is very passionate about math just goes too off topic occasionally.
Nice prof, but very disorganized. ELC page is empty. Tests are hard as heck. Entire class is struggling. 3 tests, 20% each. 10% hw. 30% final. Goes off topic all the time. He likes math but doesnt explain it well. No examples of problems in class. No extra credit. Hard grader. Office hours help a little. Take another prof if u can.
no extra credit. tests are so hard holy cow. like really hard. most of the class has a C or lower. all of us are panicking rn lmao :,) anyway i hope the final is easier and that theres a curve because if most of the class is doing poorly yikes :( its been a tough year for all of us
This class was difficult for me since I was trying to simultaneously adjust to the environment of UGA & the abstract teaching style of Prof. Hendon. Notably, there a very few examples of what you will be doing on the pretty hard tests (be ready to find a lot of other resources). That said, he is really invested in his profession and is very nice.
Hes a nice dude, but I struggled a lot. There wasnt a lot of practice. Material was hard. I recommend taking someone else.
this class was so hard. im sure hes a good prof for other courses, but math2270h killed me. calc 1&2 were easy, but calc3 (this course) was not. hes nice but cant teach imo, i recommend taking someone else
Professor Hendon wasn't a bad professor, but he could've been better. We ended up not even covering surface integrals, which is an important topic in Calc III. He also got off topic a lot. I will say though, NEVER miss a lecture. His tests are directly based off of the lectures and the problems done in class. BUT his office hours helped me so much.
One of the greatest math professors I've had here at UGA. Builds off your prior knowledge when he teaches the content- homework and tests are of reasonable difficulty.
Best teacher I think I've ever had.
Definetly not an easy class. He is a great person but his teaching is definitely not the best. No quizzes were given, only had 3 homework due at the beginning of the semester, and just 3 tests. Most of the time I had to teach myself since there was a lot of topics and no study guide. I would say most of his in class examples are on the tests.
Really nice guy. Class was challenging, but tests were graded on a curve and it almost feels like he wants you to win and wont let you fail if you try your best. Go to office hours! Lectures can be confusing, so that is your best bet. Overall great teacher. He really cares about his students.
Take Dr. Hendon for MATH 3200 if you can! The lack of a course textbook and difficult nature of course material makes it crucial to attend every lecture and do all practice problems uploaded on eLC. However, Hendon's lectures are amazing and allow you to develop a stronger understanding of math in general. I will dearly miss this class.
