This prof really cares about his subject. I liked hearing him talk about poetry and writing. He really cares about the subject and about imparting what he knows.

You can tell he loves his job and enjoys teaching. I learned a lot in his class. He is very helpful and understanding. If you want to learn this is a great class to take. He is a gorgeous man which is also a plus.

I took his Chicana/o Studies course last semester and really enjoyed it. I didn't think I would but I did. His class is not hard nor is the work; one simply has to apply him/herself. He puts things in a different perspective and makes you elaborate on your thoughts. Far more attractive that his physical prowess are his knowledge and mannerisms.

He is a very good teacher, I learned a lot in his class plus he is nice to look at ;)

Ton of work and overwhelming especially for those that have a family and a job. The end result though is impressive....YOU LEARN! Excellent teacher and I highly recommended if you're serious about college and learning.

He is an incredible teacher who really gets involved in what he teaches! You can tell he loves what he does and really wants you to learn. Fun class, you will write a lot but he will help you with anything! Just don't fall behind and you'll do great! :)

BOOKs ARE MANDATORY. his class isnt easy and it isnt hard. he gives you outlines of exactly what is needed. if you have it then no problem. its a lot of work to do. but its not that bad or hard. you'll learn to write a 12 page paper like nothing in his class. I loved it and i actually learned. great teacher :)

This professor really knows what he's doing. He is very strict when it comes to handing in the work he asks for, but trust me, he will ALWAYS be there for you if you don't understand it to answer your questions.

This professor is hot, but amazingly cocky. He is an amazing professor though. He will definitely teach you the in's and out's of how to properly write an essay. Very helpful and respectful of your time is you see him in his office. Absolutely no electronic devices in his class; he's strict on that. Textbooks are a must, but learned a lot.

If you want to learn, take his class! There is work to do, but it's not hard! He keeps students engaged at all times!

He's extremely hard, readings are a must and you will be typing a lot and turning in 5-6pg essays from one day to the next. You will definitely learn but it's a time consuming course. If you plan to take more than 2 classes it would be tough. Takes lots of notes even from personal anecdotes (dog) he puts questions of that on the final.

If English is your strong subject, you should have no problem here. He is an excellent professor! Your love for writing will guide you through. He is very informative. He will teach you a lot for sure. Very passionate, and an excellent professor.

GREAT Professor. You will learn in his class how to do an essay and that is no option. Quizzes & Exams are easy pie, but the thing that kills you are the Portfolio because they are long and you will have to depend on people who don't even care about their grade for group work. Overall, a class worth taking if you want to LEARN. DON'T PROCRASTINATE!

His workshop process requires that you change your attitude about writing, bu this is a good thing. Honestly, not hard at all. Just do your work.

lots of writing but this is a college English class so what's the surprise? Very helpful if you make the time to talk to him. Lots of lazy students who don't want to work so this makes group work hard sometimes especially with major essays.

You have to rewrite a lot of times the same essay; sometimes you dont know what else to change, but he wants real change from a draft to another. You spend a lot of time writing, but he is not as bad. I was really afraid of his class because my native language is not English; I am still struggling with the language, but I got an A.

This class is super easy, easy A. I definitely recommend it. Gives lots of extra credit, attendance is not mandatory. Nothing happens if you don't turn in the assignments. Loved it

I wouldn't say it's a tough class, you just have to do a lot of work but it's totally worth it. He makes you work hard and is very specific in what he wants you to do but it's all good because you learn a lot and by the end of the course your writing skills will 100% better. I took his class for summer 1 and still got a A. Just don't be lazy!

Professor Rodriguez was the best professor Ive had! He is so funny and makes classes interesting. There is alot of writting but not so hard and he is good looking!

For student have responsibilities for assignemt, attendances, and code of conduct are an extremely important. His life are hilarious and courteous, I feel very appreciated and helpful. Office hours should only talk about attendance, assignment help, grade, and concern. He does not want to accept turn in by sliding under door and only in class.

You really have to put attention in class and do an effort to pass, he gives you a lot of lectures and everything what he discussed in class will be in the test/quiz

Took during the summer. At first it seemed slow and easy but as the essays started to come back to back it got tough. The Research paper is the hardest thing I have done. But he is a great teacher. Hes freaking hilarious too. Just take notes, participate, and do the work and youll be just fine. Great recommendation for him.

Turns you on to identity and writing. Get to see author's view through your own. He knows a way lot more than most.

I feel like I got my (mom's) money worth. Sure, he's got standards but this is college. I had a lot of lazy kids in my class, but they pretty much gave up no surpize. Beinf one of 6 sibilings I'm used to not having excuses be better than actual work. Take his class to learn and don't try to BS or cry about excuses.

definitely not high school. get your college game ready and take lots of notes. he doesn't tolerate excuses and you shouldn't expect to be treated like a baby high schooler.

I Came back to school as an older students but he didnt treat me differently. I did have trouble relating to younger traditional students and truth is its not easy working with others who cant or wont work but i managed. i wish i had gone to school earlier but life got in the way something some of these younger ones dont get but it well worth it.

He really cares and prepares you for college not an easy grade.

Professor Rodriguez is easily the most challenging professor that I have had so far in college. He is a great professor and I like him because he makes you work for every assignment. If you want a challenge, take him. You EARN your grades, you don't get them. As an English major, I know I am expected to do great in all my English courses.

Professor Rodriguez is a tough one. All the other reviews talk about how harsh he is and the grading is harsh, it is BUT if you work, this class will be a great challenge. He does not play games, he states since the beginning that you will not receive an easy A, you must work. He DOES give feedback, on the essays and through email. TAKE HIM!!

skeptical when I read Professor Rodriguezs reviews but took him anyway! Made me buy writers reference to guide me. Although hes tough in his grading process he makes the effort to make sure you understand and will make the time to meet with you! I definitely recommend him! Just know you will earn your grade with him! Loved his style of teaching!!

The readings were engaging and the assignments really easy when you realize the state standards. Most people complaining just want an easy grade with no effort.

He is a great teacher who really just wants to know you're participating by reading and writing essays. His essays may seem complex but as long as you convey an opinion that you can defend he will give you a great grade. Really kind and inspiring in his teaching. Definitely recommend.
