This course can be dry at times and requires you to read the book quite a bit. It's best to keep on top as it's easy to fall behind.

Nothing wrong with this prof. Marks are distributed through weekly online assignments, midterm, final, and two online quizzes which everyone convinced him to not count. Midterm and final exams are fair if you actually read each chapter weekly and understand it. He is great in helping too...I still don't understand how people dropped this class

This was a really tough course! I took acc 100 with him a while back. I remember him being really generous with marking. He gave me a C when I probably didnt even deserve to pass. He's also really handsome too!

I absolutely LOVE Maurizio. Funniest guy ever.. really down to earth. He would always come over to me and my buddies during class and talk about random stuff with us..but he doesn't talk to everybody so some ppl think he has favorites. His tests are fair.. just read, do the homework and listen to his beautiful Italian voice and you'll be golden!

His lectures are helpful, but not 100% necessary. He does take up homework in class, so do go to class because he's REALLY good at explaining concepts. He uses simpler examples (e.g. the table in the room) to explain the questions, so you understand better. Came out of the class thinking Accounting isn't so bad after all. :)

This was my first year at this school and out of all my teachers, he was definitely the best i've had so far. If you get him and are looking for a minimum of 75 or more, pay attention in class. he often gives alot of hints that are always on the tests. do the online homework and read the textbook, it really helps. and don't be afraid to ask Q's to.

Hes a nice guy. Dont be fooled by his demeanor though, his midterms and exam are not easy. Be prepared. He explains well and teaches at a fair pace.

The mid term for this class was extremely difficult at first sight. The class average was about a 50% (after the bell curve). The questions are worded strangely at times, so read carefully. The final exam was fair and much easier than the mid term. He does a great job of explaining concepts and he is very funny and outgoing. Great professor.

The prof made a killer midterm, luckily the final was much easier. This prof does a real good job explaining things and tells you how he wants it to be done. I enjoy taking his class. Read textbook ahead of time and ask questions in class. Do this every week (with effort) and you are guaranteed success in the course. Maurizio's bluntness makes the class funny and he marks extremely fair (part-marks!) on tests. Highly Recommended!

Excellent prof. ACC 406 is the type of a course that requires more of a self-prep rather than classroom based learning. However, Maurizio made these three hours of lectures worthwhile. He explains things very clearly and he is really helpful if you have questions on the material!And yes, his sense of humor is The bonus!

Maurizio was my favourite prof from this semester. He tried to get to know people within the class which made it 10x better. He was clear with everything and answers questions well and with a joke most of the time. I highly recommend taking this professor if you have the opportunity too.

Probably my favourite prof at Ryerson. I had him for both ACC100 and ACC406 and he legit saved me. I'm not very good at math and he made this class very straight forward and less complicated. If you have the option to take it with him, do it! He's one of the profs that you would want to go out for drinks with later. Best. Prof. Ever.

Interesting and fun prof. Good at explaining concepts. However, his tests are designed to be hard, and his grading is strict. If you are looking for an A+. practice practice and do not a single small mistake or you will get zero or close to zero for the question. Does not give many partial marks. and will not bump your grade up!

Maurizio is a great prof. I took his ACC410 class in 1st yr & was thrilled to see he was teaching 706; I switched into his (9AM) class immediately. Maurizio Di Maio is exceptional! Very clear and helpful with concepts, knows how to teach, is organized, very supportive (is willing to bump you up to help you pass the course and has said this himself in class). Wonderful in every way. Take his class!

Maurizio seems to need no further accolade but he is very good at his job. Tough grader, but will help you if you are putting the effort in. I enjoyed my course with him at a time when the course was new and full of mistakes this past fall. Without his skills in the classroom the course would have been far more difficult.

Maurizio's lectures are very good as his explanation of concepts within the course are as clear as it gets. He takes up examples in class and does a great job of explaining how they are done. Be warned: his tests are tough. They're relatively fair, but you have to be prepared. He is also a tough marker, handing out little-to-no part marks.

Great prof, teaches very well and gives clear explanations but tests are difficult! Must prepare for them, dont expect your mark to be handed over. He wants you to really understand the material.

As an instructor, Maurizio is about as clear as it gets. He explains everything well, but makes it simple to understand. The downside? He is a very tough marker. His tests are definitely not easy, nor are they super difficult, but they are quite challenging and require a good understanding. Part marks are essentially non-existent on his tests.

Amazing prof and attractive as hell. ACC100 does not have a textbook so its somewhat considered online. He just goes over how to do questions in his lecture while being entertaining. I always looked forward to his classes and if you actually put in the effort you will get a decent grade.

He's very funny. Class was not hard if you have taken accounting prior to it. He mostly expects you to know content before the lecture but does makes sure that everyone understands concepts before he moves on. The only reason I wouldn't take him again is because most of the accounting profs are the same and he's kinda strict in terms of policy.

maurizio really cares. i failed the first test and when i talked to him about dropping the course he convinced me to stay and ensured he'd help me pass. Hes a great guy and i finished with a C+ His lectures are engaging and not boring like many other accounting lectures I've been in. Would take again 100%

This guy is a real beauty. Not in terms of looks, what I mean is, he is actually hilarious. If calls someone out, its funny, if he's telling a story, its funny, if he's teaching its usually funny. He knows his stuff, and is willing to help you out if you don't get it. Best accounting prof at Ryerson without a doubt. He makes a really dry class fun.

Overall a great prof, would highly recommend attending his class as managerial accounting is difficult and he is more than happy to answer any and all of your questions.

Maurizio is super straight up and tells you what you need to do in order to do well in the course. His lectures are well organized and easy to follow. Goes over examples in class, which is beneficial as test questions are similar to what he focuses on. His tests are fair and he's always willing to help.

Since it's part of the 300/400/500 series, this course is par with the previous ones: read every chapter and do your homework. As for Maurizio, he's a funny guy and knows not to take himself too seriously. A nice break from some professors thinking the sun shines from their ya know. You'll get a solid grade if you put in just enough effort.

He is a really fun professor, where class seems to go by really fast. However, like other professors he does have weekly Iclickers, making the class mandatory, as it adds up to 10% of your overall mark. His style of teaching is not the strongest, as he just goes over questions with the idea that you understand the lesson. Nonetheless, solid choice!

Maurizio is funny and made 8am lectures bearable. Despite the structure of this class being absurd, he makes the class worthwhile. He is the best professor at ryerson by far and really caring and professional. He was so understanding and caring when I broke my hand before the exam and I couldnt write it. You go to his lectures you will understand the materials. If you skip just do the practice questions . Very straight forward and fair tests. Focuses on general understandings

This is not an easy course, there is no way around it. However Maurizio is down to earth, approachable and wants you to do well. He does examples in class, points out what is relevant and irrelevant in the textbook and tries to keep you awake with his humor. Definitely do yourself a favor and take this class over the summer with him.

Maurizio is by far by favourite professor at Ryerson. He makes his lectures so interesting, and despite how much i dislike accounting, he presents the material in a way that makes it very interesting. He tells you exactly what to expect on the midterms and final, so its pretty hard to misinterpret. By far one of the best accounting profs at ryerson

Maurizio is a great accounting prof! The course is dry but he always manages to make lectures enjoyable. He does a great job in conceptualizing the content, and gives fair tests. He made the 1st test identical to the practice questions. Make sure to go to his lectures cause he takes up questions and shows you step by step on how to tackle them.

The funniest prof I have had so far. But he is very knowledgable in what he teaches and teaches in a way that ensures you understand everything. Loves to engage the class with funny jokes. Don't get on his bad side though !!! Amazing prof would definitely take another one of his classes again

Here lies the best professor at Ryerson University. This man is truly a man. His lectures are full of giggles and laughter as well as such informative examples. I received a 51% overall in his course not because of his teaching but because of my dumbass. I would take it again just to try harder. I was failing and failed the exam but he boost me. <3

Di Maio is a great prof. hes really funny and cares about his students success. he teaches fast sometimes so its hard to keep up but you can always stop him and hell re-explain the concept. the practices problems in the textbook prepare you for his tests so there are no surprises

I had to drop this course previously because of a bad prof, and this prof made the course so much easier for me. His lectures were simple and straightforward and he explained the concepts well in class. He was super funny and engaged. Attendance isn't mandatory but I would recommend going to class for a better understanding and hints about the exam

Maurizio is without a doubt, the best professor I had at Ryerson to date. Accounting isn't exactly an interesting topic, but Maurizio makes it. He thoroughly goes through the powerpoints in a way that keeps the class engaged. Makes very fair and tells you what you need to know, and what you don't for a test/midterm/final. Get Mauritzio if you can.

He was my best prof. You definitely need to read the textbook and be prepared for class because the class is all in-class demo questions so if you're not prepared you'll be lost in class. He makes the course really interesting and is one of the reasons I decided to switch to accounting.

He is such an awesome and funny professor. His teaching style is kinda collaborative i.e. you have to work in order to understand what he is teaching; simply, you give input by completing the pre-lecture work, he gives you output by making you understand certain things in the lectures, as simple as that.

No idea what this passive/aggressive stuff is about, maybe its tuff to figure out his sarcasm in a zoom class meeting. I didnt have this problem. He runs a tight ship, so the class is actually helpful but if no one answers a question he is gonna let you kno he expects an answer. Textbook cheap & free and is like it was written by a 12 yr old.

This guy is a legend. A man like Maurizio was amazing this semester. Truly enjoyed being in his class. Just make sure you do well on those mini-quizzes. Everything is out of the textbook that he provides for you, no extra stuff from anywhere else! Good luck, man is sickerman.

One of the BEST profs I've ever had. I never missed a class and was always super engaged in his classes because he was hilarious. He assigned homework for every chapter and if you did those & in-class practice you were set. His tests are straight-forward & very helpful outside of class if you need it.

Really great and funny professor! Be sure to read the required chapter before you attend the lectures so you understand whats going on. His teaching style involves the students answering the in-class demo questions. His lectures has been a great help in understanding the key concepts.

Legit best videos, wears a mask in class.... funny but course is tough if you dont read and try questions

One of my favourite professors at Ryerson. He's both funny and caring. Although I don't usually attend classes (just reading the tb), the ones I do attend were informative and enjoyable. His playful humour is not for everyone, but he genuinely cares about his students. He answers all questions, and really connects and engages with his students.

THE BEST ACCOUNTING PROF EVER!! This is a very hard course but he makes it as doable as he can and genuinely wants to see all of his students succeed. He is always willing to help with any questions and actually teaches in lectures. Do yourself a favour and take this course with him over the summer, or good luck passing this course otherwise!

I took him for both first year required bm courses. and Honestly he's a solid professor. these courses require you to take initiative and practice weekly, practicing questions will determine your success on exams. His lectures are important to learn and ask questions (try to show up prepared). He explains very good and dont be shy to ask questions

AFA 100 is a challenging course, but Maurizio makes the content interesting. In lectures (live over Zoom for my course), he teaches the content well and likes cracking jokes. Midterm and final exams are challenging but you can do well if you study the content.

Goated prof, he only goes over practice problems in class (which i found great) so come prepared by watching his videos beforehand and practicing weekly!

This course was pretty easy (for someone who did not take high school accounting). Just read the textbook, which is like 40-60 pages each chapter and you will be fine. Maurizio was a great prof overall as he explained the material that was easy to understand.

Maurizio is a great prof and easy to reach out to outside of the classroom if you need any help. Make sure to go over the readings//ppts and videos before coming to class as he only goes through example problems which I found to be helpful. I would definitely take him again if I can.

Accounting can be very boring, but Di Maio tries to make the lectures interesting and fun. Good teacher and communicates well through email. Midterm and Final Exam were reasonable.

He likes to cracks jokes and is pretty clear with expectations set in the course. midterm and exam were extremely fair and the hw/tableau/quizzes were all very easy. my only problem with him was his teaching style, doesnt really walk you through the questions step by step but hes very open to answering any questions you have

Great Prof but Boring Subject. If you want to do well make sure to attend class and read textbook. Even then midterms and finals are tough but that's due to the nature of the class. Overall Great Prof.

AFA500 is one of the more challenging courses in SAF. That being said Maurizio makes the course flow smoothly and is a great guy. You must put in the work in this course to pass. Do the connect homework yourself so you can actually learn and understand, otherwise good luck.

The professor is funny and he does respond to your email in a brief time. The only downside is you must be prepared to read the lecture, and cover material before and after class start. If you don't cover the class material you would have a hard time keeping up with the lecture since he mainly takes up practice questions.

He's a great professor. I like how he clarifies concepts and answers questions clearly. This course, however, isn't easy; you have to put in the effort to get the grade you want by doing the practice questions in the textbook and attending class. The super quizzes were straightforward, but the midterm and final exams were difficult and long.

Maurizzio is an amazing and super funny professor. This course itself is pretty tedious and annoying but he makes the lectures fun and explains the examples and concepts very well. There is 2 tests and a final, and the final was below average since all the profs make it. Attend class to get the textbook examples but DON'T TAKE ANY PICTURES of them.

Professor Maurizio is an excellent professor for such a challenging course in SAF. He clearly specifies his expectations and what we should do to excel in this course. If you follow what he says step-by-step and dedicate your time and effort to practice outside of class, you should earn yourself a decent grade. He is also a fair grader too.

LOVE THIS GUY! Such a funny prof. The course itself is dry and the textbook is tough to understand but Maurizio makes it easier. His lectures are entertaining and he keeps his students engaged and can explain the theories super well. I'd recommend reading the textbook, understanding the theories, and being able to explain them for the exams.

Professor Maurizio is such a good prof, the course itself (AFA 706) is a dead course in itself which the textbook makes even worse, with its wording and theories, I pretty much fell asleep reading past 5 pages. Maurizio however made the class engaging and funny and was the only reason I was able to get through this dry course

Professor Maurizio is the best prof I've at TMU. He comes to every lecture energized and ready to teach. I took ACC 406 with him and he does a excellent job conveying the most important parts of each chapter of accounting that was taught. Managerial accounting is a heavy course, I could not imagine who would of taught it better than him. 10/10

He posted videos of him solving questions which was really helpful, he really does care about his students and is always available via email to answer questions. He post's lectures which he made during covid, watch them if you can't go in-person but do not slack in this class. Practice practice and you will do well.

He's the best accounting professor I've ever had! Take his class no matter what. Prof. Di Maio breaks down even the toughest concepts so they're easy to understand. I sometimes walked into class feeling confused, but always left feeling completely satisfied. Incredible professor, great sense of humour, and rounds grades as well! :)

AFA 706 can be an incredibly dull class if taught by a monotone professor. Professor Di Maio does an amazing job at making the class engaging and tolerable to listen to. He breaks down the textbook into language students can understand and clearly cares about his students. I would love to take a class with him again!

TBH I failed acc406 the first time I took the course, this prof is much better than the other prof out there at least for this course. His classes are very engaging and he will help you understand complicated things. he is very respectful towards the students unlike some other profs out there

He is fantastic. Took him for AFA 400, and AFA 706. Ask questions, answer his questions. Stay ontop of your readings and you'll pass with flying colours. He's a jokester and makes learning accounting real and fun. He also went to this fine institution of higher learning so he knows which profs are bad.

Goated teacher. the class is hard but he makes it as easy to learn as possible. he cares about his lectures and students. he's a fantastic explainer of tough subjects. would highly recommend him. As a bonus, he's also funny.

Maurizio is genuinely a good professor and deeply cares about his students, he is also really funny. You can email him any time for help and he'll be more than glad to help. He makes lectures engaging and actually explains how to properly solve questions. If you actually pay attention to what he says and study, you'll be fine.

courses like this require you to put in the work. as long as you stay on top of the readings, watch the lectures, and practice lots for each test, you can actually do well in the course. di maio is amazing compared to other profs, he's super funny and he genuinely cares for everyone to succeed. participate in class! the tests are fair as well

He posts the lectures so you can review at any time. He does the review questions and explains to you how it's done. The exams are very similar to the review questions.

Maurizio was extremely detailed in his lectures and clearly outlines what he expects from us on tested material. He goes through examples in class and posts examples from the chapter. Attendance and attention matters so much, if you aren't putting in the work, you won't get a good mark. Lectures are engaging and he is a very chill prof. 10/10!

An all-around great guy. Although it was a hard course, ACC406 was manageable through professor Maurizio's interactive lectures and very helpful videos. I appreciated the fact that he engaged the class in his lectures, making sure we understood the concepts, as opposed to reading a recycled slide deck for 3 hours straight.

Great prof, gives good study material, textbook is paid for and not so helpful, I used YouTube videos for studying instead. What makes this course hard is you have to memorize all the formulas for the exams, no crib sheets are allowed, but this prof is great so I'd recommend taking him.

Maurizio is a passionate and knowledgeable accounting professor who truly cares about his students' success. Follow his advice, stay on top of readings, and come prepared with questions. He will be there to support you every step of the way. You'll not only pass but learn the material. Highly recommend!

Maurizio could teach a toddler how to make cash budgets. He is very straightforward about the format of his midterms/finals and if you practice the in-class questions, you are almost guaranteed to pass with at least an 80%. He teaches content in its simplest form which I found extremely helpful. If you practice the questions, you will do well.

Don't listen to the people saying his midterms were hard. His midterms were almost identical to what we practiced in class, and compared to some of the other sections, our class average was not that bad. Practice the questions and attend the lectures. If you do this you are absolutely golden and will do well.

Professor Di Maio made CACC406's complex topics easy to understand. The course is content heavy. Keeping up with readings and the weekly quizzes was essential to my success. He also includes a significant amount of videos in the course modules. They do a great job of explaining the concepts.

Awesome prof. He starts class late, and ends early, so the actual lecture time is a bit shorter than the allocated 3 hours. However, his teaching style is still effective if you attend and stay focused. He spends the entire time going over practice problems making sure everyone understands the concepts. Also his personality is VERY humorous. 5/5
