Professor Bilodeau is the best science teacher I've ever had, period. He will always stay on a particular lesson and walk you through it until you understand it perfectly, and he teaches step by step to make sure everyone understands. He's also very kind and forgiving, and understands where students are coming from, highly recommend.

Chemistry is definitely not my thing. Taking this class with Mr. Bilodeau made it more interesting. He is very helpful in lab and lecture understanding, has great analogies based on the lectures, and he also stays after class if you need help. I wish he taught Chemistry 2.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Professor Bilodeau is wonderful. I was interested in chemistry prior to taking this course, but my time in his class solidified my decision to pursue a career in the field. I cannot express how awesome his class was. Professors like this are very few and far between. I'm thankful I had the opportunity to learn from him.

great professor i loved going to lab every week it didn't feel like a burden like it used to. he is a hard grader and a back talker but he does know what hes talking about.

Max is the best thing that's happened to the chemistry department at HFC. Nicest guy, easily approachable. Had him in Spring for lecture+lab and while it was accelerated, he made sure you understood the material before moving on. Drops lowest quiz & lowest exam (4 exams + final, can't drop final). Extra credit on exams. He NEEDS to teach gen chem 2

Took Max for both lecture and lab during the spring semester and he was amazing. Chemistry does not come easy to me but Max made sure all his students understood the material well. He wants everyone to succeed and offers many opportunities to get a high grade. I wish he taught Chem 2 !

Still in the class, he's literally the GREATEST chem teacher of all time. Literally had a phobia from chem when I last took it my freshman year at hfc. Three years later and I was never this happy to learn chem. Teaches well, exams are straightforward if you paid attention in class. You can skip but I don't recommend it, you'll miss out on the test

Awesome lab instructor, I wish he taught lecture as well. He will help you 100% without giving you the answer. He makes sure everyone understands and engage with the entire class the entire lecture. if you do not understand what happened in lecture he will help you understand in lab. attendance is mandatory for a passing grade.

Great professor that understands the college student struggle. Very clear on what you need to learn, and where some stuff could be used in future classes.

Great lab instructor! Since the lecture teacher was REALLY difficult to understand (yeakel), Max helped a lot of the students understand everything being taught. Just, sometimes he would seem mad when people asked questions for some reason and when people made mistakes on the labs in class. But he was accepting of all students and helpful!

I've read the previous reviews and am having a hard time understanding why he's rated so poorly. This class clearly states all the material that will be covered , and that because it is an asynchronous class. Meaning the student does the reading. Prof. Bilodeau has youtube videos going over all the material, and offers office visits to further help

This professor is not bad. Yeah he makes you work for your grade. Unfortunately due to COVID we were online so he just posted Powerpoints and lecture videos. I failed almost every test but I still got a B. I studied so hard and youre gonna have to teach yourself a lot if its all online. He did give us a 20 extra credit short essay at the end.

Very clear about what will be on tests and takes time to discuss any confusion areas if there is any remaining Lab time. Had him for lab and lecture and was not disappointed. By far best professor I have had!

The coursework is pretty diverse and a bit difficult but if you reach out to him he will definitely help you as much as he can. I had not had chemistry for 8 years before this class and he helped me get through my first exam after being unconfident about it.

Study guides are identical to the exam, and he is willing to meet on zoom to go over everything multiple times a week too. Just give him a 24 hour notice. he is caring and will push stuff back if life gets in the way. best choice at hfcc.

offers lots of extra credit, no proctored exams, he is super nice and u can tell he genuinely cares for his students, only complain I have is the lab, they are to much work and he grades those roughly. besides that all is well with the class

I really understood a lot from his lectures. Labs and exams were on campus. I learned everything on my own from his lecture videos, lowest grade I got on an exam was a 86. Highest was a 97, and that was the final. Practice exams are exactly like the real exams. I wish I could've taken him for chem 142. Best chem prof ever!! Take with him!!

Professor Bilodeau is the best chem teacher I've ever taken, his instructions are very clear and he will also answer any questions you have. we had a lab quiz almost every week but they're very easy if you study. He replies to emails fast. Chem is not my favorite subject but this professor made the class so much easier for me!

I had him for the lab portion of class. He is a tough prof and can be hard to understand sometimes because he teaches higher levels of Chem. However, he is fair and trys to give you many examples of problems so you can succeed. He does assign hard questions on labs but he grades fairly. He is very nice guy and easy to reach. The materials are heavy and sometimes confusing to understand. He cares and he does his best to make you understand everything. He is really humble and polite guy. the exams are the same he posts online to review, and he will answer any questions you have

Easily the best chem professor at Henry ford. Class is very heavy and consists of a lot of material but professor Max teaches everything on point.

Definitely recommend him. Hes very good at teaching and he is very helpful. He answers emails quick. Very nice when grading as well. Took him 7 weeks in summer. Loved it. Great class and great professor.

Professor Bilodeau is a very kind person who explains everything greatly. I took this class during the summer in a half-semester and still got a decent grade from this class. If you ever need to contact him he usually responds quickly. Trust me, if you're looking for a chemistry professor this is the one to take!

He's absolutely the best teacher I've had so far in HFC!

He was solid, I respect him heavily but I still can't fathom how he gave me a C+, I really tried my best and was participating all the time, Max if you're reading this, you broke my heart with a 78.4%. I enjoyed your class so much, I was always the first one in there. I will recommend everyone I know to take you.

Professor Max does a very great job of ensuring his students understand the material. I never had to touch the textbook, because he breaks everything down step by step and clearly answers any and all questions. His exam questions can be quite tricky, but he provides extra credit built into his exams. He also provides many additional resources.

Professor Max was a caring professor. He was nice and very caring towards his students. The people that didn't do well probably didn't tend to his office hours or study. This class is difficult! It isn't an easy A like other classes.

100/100 (currently taking o-chem1 w/ an A). His explanations are easy to understand, & he doesn't overcomplicate(& he'll go into depth if he needs to/if you're curious.) He does tons of practice problems to help solidify the content. ALWAYS open to questions & everything accurately reflects exams. As long as you SHOW UP, you're bound to do good.

Very caring and helpful

Incredible professor, you have to put in the work to see good results but overall one of the best Chemistry professor at HFC. Do the practice problems in the book and go to his office hours and whatever you do, do not try to cram for this class, you will need a good understating for Orgo 2 and the MCAT.

Professor Max is one of the best professors I have ever had throughout my college experience. I used to hate chemistry and always thought it was impossible to learn it,but Professor Max totally changed my thinking I actually love it and enjoy it.Overall, his well-respected professor and teaches perfectly it is sad that he won't be teaching chem 142

He is the best professor to teach chemistry in HFC, I used to get bad grade in chem, and thought it's impossible to have a good grade until I had orgo chem with him, it was fun and made me love chem, he care for his students make sure they learn, his tests not too bad and he is not a tough grader, also he drinks 10 cups of coffee each lecture:)

I'm usually a C average in chemistry courses so I would highly recommend Prof B! He is very interactive with the class, keeps you engaged in lectures, and he can be very sarcastic. If you don't show up to class it will be difficult to earn a good grade. His grading on exams is VERY lenient and online work is relevant to material you learn in class.

I was fighting for my life during gen chem and was so scared for orgo but professor B taught it amazingly. He curves every exam always reassured us that we have nothing to worry about and had very helpful study guides. Anyone that's complaining didn't put in the work I went from hating chem to loving it now. Hands down best chem professor at hfc!

Max is honestly the best professor I have ever had. His exam are very straight forward in comparison to his lectures. DONT skip class and you will be just fine. He's a very funny guy and makes class entertaining. This was and will always be my favorite class ever. He genuinely wants to see everyone do well, he's a great guy drop by his office hours
