lots of guest lecturers...usually more interesting than his are...
most boring prof ever....only taught maybe 3-5 lectures himself...the rest were quest lectures..no textbook and you can only take notes from his lectures which is kind of hard
Very boring class. Barely teaches himself (constant videos and pointless guest speakers). The tests are so easy but the project at the end is graded way too hard. Class is loaded with athletes so that basically sums up the intensity level of the course.
most boring man alive....taught maybe 4 lectures all semester and doesnt give enough points in the class...gives pop quizzes which are really annoying...save yourself the agony and dont take him
BORING CLASS. He turns all of the lights off to show slideshows and it is extremely easy to fall asleep. His lectures and uninteresting and he expects you to pass tests based on your own notes. Class would be much easier and enjoyable if he posted his powerpoints on moodle.

Possibly the most boring teacher to the known universe. I had the 90 minute class, which is almost as exciting as watching C-SPAN. Pop quizes are given out, just spaced out enough, so that you cant skip class, but you end up wishing you did. The Guest speakers and hour long videos are pointless. I usually draw and doodle.
Easy course as long as you go to class. You can get away with a C if you don't but an easy A if you go. Quizzes on what seems to be almost every class. At the end (dont leave early). Watch lost of videos and listen to other speakers. Semester project needs to be taken seriously. An easy GPA boost.
I find the class to be interesting but he is straight up not a great teacher. He needs to learn to project his voice even when talking into a microphone. His class is an easy A, however, you must go to class to take his pop quizzes. He likes to give them over material learned on Fridays due to the fact no one goes. Just go to class and don't sleep.

This class definitely isn't an easy/blow-off A anymore. Tests from noteswap are about 5% of the actual final/midterm. If you want to do really well you have to actually go to class, suffer through his lectures and take good notes.
The information in this class was kind of interesting, but he made me fall asleep. He can be cute and is very nice, but it's just boring. It's pretty easy if you have notes.

Apparently his midterm and final used to be straight note swap. Now they are similar but not word for word because his computer crashed. If you want to put forth very little effort and get a B this is the class for you. Only grades for the semester are midterm, project, 5 pop quizzes and final.
Conrad is a very boring teacher. He's actually an interesting person, but his idea of lecturing is standing in front of a Powerpoint talking aimlessly in the dark. The tests are no longer the same as Noteswap, so don't take this class if you aren't willing to pay attention and study hard. Not an easy class anymore.
He is a super easy teacher just very boring. i never went to his class yet ended with an A. if you go on noteswap and download his old exams you will do fine. If you are looking for an easy A take this class, the only problem is that it is so boring that you will want to drop it.
Such a boring class but could be forgiven since he's an adorable old man and you can rely on noteswap. But the research project shows how awful he is at communicating with the English language - the directions make you feel like you are crazy, & he won't answer emailed questions - then he sends grumpy emails to the class about the confusion. Max is the worst teacher I have ever had. Previous students tell people to take this class as an easy A. Wrong. He makes no sense in class and babbles about meaningless things. This class is completely horrible. Do NOT take it. Max is the rudest, most insensitive person I have ever met.
Super easy. I got over a 100 in the end. Do the bonus opportunity. Pop quizzes given randomly in class. Study the notes on noteswap and look over the articles for the midterm and final. The project is what a lot of ppl mess up on. Directions on it not clear. Just ask conrad or former students for help on it if needed.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. It is no longer a complete blow off class. He has changed the project. It is time consuming and confusing. The midterm is no longer straight from noteswap.
Probably one of the worst professors at any university. Impossible to hear one word he is saying, or understand him if he does speak. Extremely unfair tests and no opportunities except a TA graded project to bring your grade up. Would never recommend this class to a single person

Definitely not a GPA booster class. I never attended the class, skipped all the quizzes, and got a C in the class. He changed the midterm and final to where only about 60% of it is from NoteSwap. The project is also different and is absolutely awful. If you go to class you should be fine but it is impossible to sit through it. Just don't bother.
I would NOT recommend this class as an easy A elective. Too boring to pay attention, so you count on noteswap and depending on your midterm and final questions from the test bank, you'll get an A or B. Unfortunately I got questions I hadn't studied and got a B.
Not an "easy A" like my friends said the class was. I'm normally an A student and attended every lecture, but it was impossible to take notes. Could barely hear him, he was extremely boring, and he doesn't prepare you for exams. I literally had nothing to study for his exams but took good guesses to get a B on the final and course overall.
Do not take this class. He was very hard to hear the lectures are more boring then watching paint dry and the only grades are the midterm project and final so you mess up one you mess up the whole thing
This class is BORING. People say it is an easy A, but that is not true. Have random in class quizzes that can kill your grade. Only have a midterm and final, which if you do the readings and go to class aren't that hard. He hardly lectures, mostly shows videos. The project is graded unfairly and he takes off points without reason. Don't take him!
This class made me change my major. Really enjoyed it. Max is a good teacher and really loves his work, but he is soft spoken and hard to hear. I was 3 rows from him and still struggled hearing him. The worst part was the people who would not stop talking in the back, which made it even harder to hear Max. Good class to take and easy A if you try.
Incredibly boring and extremely difficult for an "easy A" class. There are in class quizzes which is annoying as hell. Midterm, final, and project pretty much decide your grade. I guessed a bunch with the midterm and final. Small curve on those helps but don't rely on it. Project sucked and took a while.
If you go to class this should be a relatively easy A, but going to this class is the most difficult thing ever. He is extremely dull and this makes it nearly impossible to stay awake in class. Luckily with some good guesses and info on the internet a high B or better is obtainable through day before studying.
Honestly if you go to class in the first part of the year and get your four quizzes in you really dont have to go for the rest of the semester. He sends out emails to notify everyone of when things are due and the study guides for the final and midterm are all online. If you go to the classes, you should do completely fine. BUT the class is HORRIBLE. Nobody can stand sitting in the class. But once you get all 4 or 5 of your quizzes done, you really don't need to go to class and you will be fine. You can't blow off the midterm or final b/c those are the only 2 major grades. Study guides for both exams on koofers

The man is old and annoying. Class is very easy material wise but there is only a midterm and final. Both were very difficult and there is also an extensive project you have to do. Also he gives pop quizzes at random. This class is very hard to make an A. I wouldnt recommend this class to anyone.
NOT an easy A, and it is tedious to go to this class and listen to this man tell jokes that only the people in the front can hear. Do yourself a favor and take another class for your Art credit. Random pop quizzes. He is not a nice or forgiving teacher. He also does not allow laptops or electronic devices.
If you like the course and willing to work for it then definitely take it. This guy knows what he is talking about and has a lot of interesting information but I'm an engineering major and took the class for just an easy A so it was really hard for me because I didn't attend the lectures so I skipped his pop quizzes. If you want the A work for it
This is a super easy class to get an A in, and an appreciation of architecture. HOWEVER THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTION FOR GOING TO CLASS AND TAKING GOOD NOTES FOR THE 2 EXAMS. Dr. Max is very strict, so DO NOT TALKSHARE NOTES DURING THE POPQUIZES OR U WILL GET A ZERO! Lastly, don't worry about the semester project. It can be finished in one afternoon.
I had to force myself to go to class in order to not miss the pop quizzes. He doesn't put power-points online either... Very old fashioned. The semester project is LONG.
I really liked this class. It's not the most exciting class in the world but its pretty easy as long as you g to class and try. Lecture can get dry at times but he always shows cool pictures and can give first- hand stories of things talked about. I learned a lot of things I didn't really think about before taking this class.
Hardly ever went to this class and still got an A. He gives 3 quizzes throughout the year so be mindful. The project is long but is graded pretty easily. The class itself sucks and its not worth trying to hear him mumble through his "lecture". I studied note swap notes for 2 hours and got A's on the final and midterm. Do the bonus just in case.

Only a Mid term and a final. Kind of an easy A but you have to do great on the two tests. The class is SO boring and the teacher really is not interesting. He is old and VERY cranky. I would suggest just know it's going to be hard to stay awake in class. The teacher is also very rude and sometimes mean to students.

The only other points given in class are 3 pt pop quizzes (you get like 6) with short answer questions which are extremely hard especially if you don't take notes or pay attention. If you are looking for an easy A don't take this class. There is only 1 midterm and final, a semester project, and 5 pop quizzes. Don't bother studying the old tests because only two or three questions from there are on the test. Study note swap notes or actually read the readings on moodle. If you want an easy A take intro to theatre. Trust me.
Worst class. It's easy if you go to class, PAY ATTENTION (impossible), and do all the readings. Literally so hard to go to class though because he's so quiet and BORING. Gives no help and doesn't like answering questions. Tests were actually a little tough. Would not take this again
Max is an old man who is fascinated with his own L&A accomplishments. If you're into this kind of thing, the class may make some sense. If not, do not take. People told me to take this as an Easy A, and I didn't think it was easy nor did I get an A. He also gives quizzes that he doesn't actually grade, so don't expect full points on them.
100% regret taking this class. He's so old that he can't even speak into his microphone, so I could never understand him. The midterm was about nothing discussed in class, so you have to rely solely on quizlet and wing it. Made a 75. The semester project is not bad and graded very easily if you put forth a little bit of effort. Don't take though.
Everyone says the final and midterm are on note swap. They are not at all. There may be 5 questions that look familiar. That being said you have to take notes. The online readings are a lot of material.
I highly recommend this class for engineering majors. It will complement your major better than most art classes. Max Conrad is a really interested guy with a lot of experience in the field of landscape architecture. To sum this class up: No homework, 2 tests, 2 bonus assignments, pop quizzes, semester project. Class is out of 275 points so study!
This isn't the worst class ever, but certainly not the best. I went to class everyday and struggled to take any notes. Max is impossible to hear and often his lectures are just a bunch of pictures. The semester project is graded easily and just takes a bit to finish. The tests are hard to study for since you will barely have any notes to go off of
LA 1201 is super boring. I took this class an an art thinking it would be easy, but its more of a pain in the butt. Gives pop quizzes so you are forced to go to class and sit through terrible lectures. All this class is is the midterm, final, one project, and four quizzes. Barely studied for tests and made B's, but barely made it out with an A-.
There's only a midterm and final as tests. There is a semester project that is pretty time consuming. The subject content isn't very clear. Tests are mainly random things from the lectures. There are a handful of questions from the readings we are assigned.
This was supposed to be an easy A art elective and the test banks were supposed to be only. Both weren't true. Lectures are incredibly boring. Test questions are spread around randomly from lecture. Hard to study for the test and make an A. I do not suggest taking this class as an easy A. You will be stressed out.

The instructor is VERY unclear about what he wants for tests (only a midterm and a final), gives pop quizzes, and a long tedious project in the middle of the semester. The most boring and horrible class I have ever taken. Would NOT recommend as an easy A class unless you plan to attend every 8 am class and take very careful notes. He only gives a midterm and final and the entire tests consist of all of the above/non of the above questions that make very little sense. Answers not online either.
Lectures are unbelievably boring and hard to pay attention to. Gives about 4 pop quizzes throughout the semester along with a HUGE project that will take forever to finish.
The material for the course is actually pretty easy, however Mr. Conrad does not deliver it well. His lectures are in power point form which is not the bad thing. The bad part is that there are no text in them but rather pictures, which he talks about to the class. It was very challenging to take quality notes during lectures.
Professor Conrad's class was very easy, and interesting. He gives pop quizzes so if you don't show up to class those will drop your grade. I wasn't sure i would like a "Landscape Architecture" class but Max made me respect it as an art form. He's a wonderful professor and i would gladly take him again.

Professor Conrad is a great teacher! Very knowledgeable about his craft and to be honest I didn't expect to actually enjoy la 1201. His lectures can get on the boring side, but once you're into it, you don't want class to end! I really enjoyed professor Conrad's lectures!
Max is a sweet guy, but his class isn't great. Unless you're super interested in this area, take something else for an art credit. You have to sit in the first few rows to be able to actually hear him, and even then it's hard to pay attention. Pop quizzes seemed to be for participation, and the exams and project weren't too hard if you go to class.

I was excited for this class because I thought I was going to learn about Landscape Architecture, but that only happened in about 5 classes. The rest of the classes were centered around him rambling about his college days and where he traveled. Not as interesting as it sounds.
Professor Conrad is kinda soft spoken, so class gets kinda boring. He post readings online, and sometimes bases the next class on what you read (i hardly ever read, but it'll help more if you do). The slideshows are mostly pictures that he talks about, so really no note taking. Only need to go to class bc 3 Random quizzes b/t each exam.
I went to class in the beginning until I realized you don't have to go at all. Midterm & final are basically on quizlet, I read through them & made an 86 & a 96. He gives like 4 pop quizzes but they're only 2% each so not a big deal. Semester project that is relatively easy, I made a 96 without much effort. Overall easy class, I made an A.
His lectures are unbearably mundane. They moving at the speed of a 1000 year old snail. He is very knowledgeable about his craft, but he goes off on tangents constantly and it becomes difficult to see where he is leading the conversation. His lecture room only has the back room lights on and you have to fight the urge to sleep.
There are 4 pop quizzes, a midterm, and a final. He gives a couple of bonus opportunities so take advantage of those. They're not that hard and can be done in minutes. There's also this easy final project that's just time consuming (this is what saved my grade). Study the quizlets that are already uploaded!

Please do yourself a favor and don't take this class if it's taught by Professor Max Conrad. He doesn't put notes to copy on the board and he lectures using just pictures which is so confusing. His test and lectures are nothing alike. His class also kind of boring. Save yourself the trouble.

Easy class, not an easy A . Theres around 5 pop quizzes, and the majority of the class comes from the midterm and final ( Not on noteswap anymore, he changed it ). Theres a long project as well. Theres not a lot of grades, so you have to do well on everything. Good luck :)

I took this having heard it was an easy A though this was not the case. Conrad posts a long list of scheduled readings that no one does and does not help boost your test grade very much. His tests aren't difficult but it is difficult to get an A.

Max Conrad is such a sweet proffessor and is very passionate about what he is teaching. However, he is very quiet and boring. His lectures are long and monotoned. I had to withdraw because, I was unable to keep up with the lessons or even take notes. The midterms are difficult as well. I would not reccomend this class .

Although Max is highly intelligent and clearly knows a lot about his subject due to both personal experience and decades of study, he is a horrendous teacher. Only 3 major grades in the class, 2 tests and a project. 4 quizzes worth 3%. Lectures are boring and just dumb really. Talks about landscape and parks and how it can influence people. Talks very quietly and hates when people in the front talk or use phones. Test questions are very specific and relate to online readings for 50% of the questions.
Max is a sweet man but there is only 3 tests, 4-5 quizzes (unannounced), and a final project. It is really easy to fall asleep in class but if you pay attention you will learn something. He cares alot about the topic he teaches. He does not like phones but is okay with laptops. There are online readings that are more boring than the class.
Max is the worst professor that I have ever had... DO NOT TAKE HIM. He is horrible teacher, when I did my class project he said that I did not use the template, which I CLEARLY did. He refused to give me a grade and I had to go to LSU administration to have the problem solved, they could clearly tell that I used the template and sided with me.
Max is the cutest grandpa ever, and he tries to make his lectures interesting. He incorporates his own personal travels into how he teaches landscape architecture. He has a few pop quizzes, and if you miss some he has a few opportunities for extra credit. His two tests are easy and can be found on quizlet. He's easy going & his class is an easy A!!
Where to start. I'm sure Max is a great guy and he's been at LSU for forever and has done great things but he shouldn't teach He rarely taught and just got guest lecturers and showed videos for the majority of the class and when he did teach he was not engaging or interesting at all. No control in the classroom. Hilarious only because it was so bad
Max is a sweet old man so I feel awful for hating his class so much: every little thing he said seemed like it was unimportant. It was hard to tell what was going to be on exams, and he barely has assignments so you HAVE to do well on them. It's lecture heavy and taking it at 8:30 in the morning was awful. It may be an easy A but not worth it.
Second time taking this course. It's worse than I remember. Literally the dumbest and most pointless course I've taken. Max sounds very monotone and throws a bunch of random information in there. It's impossible to retain info. No clear direction on how to prepare for exams. Don't recommend. Terrible course. Stay away.

To succeed, do the following: 1. Attend every lecture 2. Take notes if possible (if the topic seems important) 3. Study using online resources (Quizlet) 4. Never miss quiz/extra credit If trying to receive Gen-Ed Art credit, TAKE A DIFFERENT CLASS. Conrad is generally rude and gives lectures created many, many years ago. Guest lectures were cool.
Ohh Conrad, how I wanted to like you. I gave him many chances, but I eventually gave up. He is a very nice guy and really cares about what he is teaching, but I didn't care about what he was teaching. The class was very easy, but remember to USE YOUR RESOURCES and FOLLOW THE READINGS. I only took this class because I needed an art credit. I'm not going to lie to you, this class was probably the hardest elective I've took at LSU. You have to go to class because he does give pop-quizzes. A few of his lectures were interesting, but the class was just so long.. it's him lecturing the whole time. One group project towards the end.
Thought this would be an easy art credit but it wasn't. SUPER BORING lectures but he's really nice. There isn't many grades. I didn't know what to study for finals. We just watched videos or he talked every class so it was hard to take notes. Make sure you do the readings because apparently that's what a lot of test questions come from.

Absolutely hated having him as a teacher. The class was easy, but he is very rude when it comes to responding to emails and assigning assignments. He also did not grade my semester project because it would not upload to his onedrive, but his graduate assistant messaged me saying they would have that corrected since they were still able to access it

You'd think taking an art class is an easy A right? If you're in Conrad's class think again. He's lectures are long asl and if you're lucky, you may comprehend a total of 2 sentences because he's quiet. Get as many points as you can on quizzes and do all extra credit/project assignments. Not much that prepares you for exams(use quizlet) Good luck

Too quiet to hear, notes consist of 3 slides with a little information followed by 20 useless pictures. 5 quizzes each worth 3 points. Midterm and Final worth 100 points each and semester project worth 60. Going to class doesn't help. Too old to teach just retire my boy.
I took this class because it was supposed to be an easy A. The bad thing is that it was a very easy class to forget about because youre only graded on the midterm and final and a project. As long as you do the readings and watch the lectures you should do well.
He is so boring, and you cannot hear him. He has pretty okay bonus opportunities, though. He only has two tests and a project. The tests are hard, but the project is easy. No matter how hard you study for the test, you probably won't do well though. Overall, would never recommend this class to anybody.
Let me start by saying I'm a 4.0 pre-med student at LSU. Or rather was, until I took this class. This class isn't THAT hard. However, nobody taking LA 1201 cares about the subject. Unless you treat this class like it's part of your major (reading EVERYTHING, going to EVERY CLASS, etc), there is simply too much content to get an A in this art credit
he probably would have been a good teacher in the 70's but he's so quiet you can barely hear him, and he constantly plays videos from 1980
This class was very interesting Professor Conrad includes heavy lectures and you'll get lost if you zone out or just simply don't go to class. But overall very laid-back and chill professor. Recommend this class

Took this class as an easy A but it has been anything but a breeze. The class itself is extremely easy and you really don't have to do anything besides a few quizzes that are 3 questions each. However, the class is graded almost solely on the midterm and final and studying for the exams feels impossible because you don't know what to study. 3/10
He is good
Classes all consist of long boring lectures. He goes on and on about different aspects of parks around the world, and he talks to his classes like they are children sometimes. His lectures are very scattered. This class could be interesting with a better professor. As far as I can see, going to class doesn't really matter, but study for the final.
Lectures drag on and on and he is so quiet you can hardly hear him. He can barely use Moodle, so expect all important info to be sent through email. The only assignments are a few quizzes and a project, so study for the midterm and final and you'll pass. Also very rude.
This class was incredibly boring. It was exclusively uninteresting 90 minute lectures with a quiz that was pass or fail due to how it was laid out (3 questions, if you missed 2, you earn a D) or project thrown in occasionally. The mid term I took not only included concepts never mentioned in class, but also numerous spelling and grammar errors.
This teacher is ANCIENT, his lectures are so boring and the quizzes are pass or fail, pay attention to the powerpoint the pictures are important. If you take this class you will lose any interest you have in landscape architecture He also assigns a LOT of readings and the information falls on the tests even if he doesnt talk about it.

Absolutely awful class. Do not recommend to anyone, even if interested in architecture. Most grades are based on 3 question quizzes regarding topics Max Conrad does not teach. Rather than teach, he spends class time reminiscing about the time he spent traveling the world. Nothing about this class is good. Highly recommend you drop if possible.
First of all, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! The class is pretty easy if you show up and just listen to his boring lectures, however you wont understand anything. The grades are wacky for the class and just dumb. There are only 5 quizzes and 2 test. If you go to the class just make sure to sit close to the board because you can barely hear him.
I honestly really liked this class. I found the lectures interesting, I liked the pictures he showed, and he's just a funny old guy. The exams are not all covered in class. There aren't many graded assignments though, so you have to be careful. I had this class at 8:30 am and it was very difficult to stay awake because he talks slow and quiet.
Professor Conrad is really funny, and his lectures are interesting. His grading is made up of a midterm and final, with small quizzes. Pretty easy.
Lectures for this class were always terrible. I'm sure he is very knowledgeable about whatever he used to do, but he just can't talk loud enough to hear what he says. The grades were 5 quizzes, midterm, and final. There was one minor research project that took like 30 minutes to finish. Don't recommend it. Pain in the behind.
I would not take this class if you were taking it just for an art credit. This class is test-heavy and each of the quizzes is worth 3 points. He does offer some extra credit but it does not help much. The few interactions I had with Max were not pleasant. He was very rude and talked to me like I was beneath him.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got an A in pomericos biology course and still don't know what's going on in this class, and I go every single day.
NO NOT TAKE HIM!!! Lectures consist of him clicking through slideshows of pictures and talking about them. You will learn nothing if you go. Tests are mostly common sense.
The quiz is only worth one point. Your final grade is heavily impacted by mid-term and final. The semester project is easy. However, the professor is too old to teach and even stand. His lecture is so boring and boring and boring. I have no idea what he wants to teach us.
Do not take LA 1201 with Max Conrad for an art credit. The class consists of long boring lectures and you can barely hear him, and the few times I approached him with a question he was hostile. There is a midterm and a final, both full of typos and spelling errors, and featured content not covered in lectures.
This class was not hard and you don't need to attend lectures because you can barely hear him and can't ask questions in class because he is hard of hearing. MULTIPLE spelling and formatting errors on both the midterm and final, which are heavily weighted. The project is easy, I definitely would take something else if it is just for an Art credit.
Listen to all the other reviews and rates. Avoid this class and choose something fun like Music 1600.
Save yourself the trouble - this class is more trouble than it's worth. Lectures are dull, the professor is hard to understand, and the tests are full of errors. unstuck ai could be helpful for studying, but I'd recommend taking an easier art credit instead.
Beware this class. I read the rate my professor reviews and thought it couldn't be too bad, but he genuinely does not tell you what to study for and just sits and talks about his work.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS if you are not a landscape architecture major. He cannot operate technology and most classes are him playing a video of someone else's lecture which he doesnt post. He can be very quiet and hard to hear, and lectures can feel repetitive and boring. Your whole grade is determined by the midterm and final. Would not recommend.

DO NOT TAKE!!! I can confidently say Max Conrad is the worst professor at LSU. His lectures are long, monotone, and boring. Your entire grade in the class depends on your midterm and final. They will have grammar and spelling mistakes that make the questions illegible. I'm a biology major, and this class was my LOWEST GRADE. That should say enough.
