Cool teacher, and the class is pretty easy. What you learn depends on how well the class comprehends it. The class needed a stricter schedule.

Nice guy but he's prerry lazy when it comes to teaching you something. He'd rather throw you in a pointless group project than teach you something meaningful, which is a true shame because his lectures can be very informative and well done when he decides to put forth the effort to construct them. The group projects taught you nothing worthwhile.
Very cool teacher. Gives you tons of freedom as far as projects go. Not strict at all (my group put in a little blowj** flash animation in our final and we did awesome) he loved it. We mostly learned Motion, Flash, Garageband, Final Cut. Pretty cool/easy projects.
Really cool guy who has a true interest in the students learning. Easy to get an A, still informative.
Nice guy, funny at times. Knows his software pretty well and can teach it effectively. His Production class was kind of esoteric and didn't really have a well founded point but he tried to make something out of it. His Computers as a Medium class was pretty good and I even learned a few things (and I know a lot about this stuff usually).
Hilarious, Nice guy!
Class is great. Everything taught is programs and how to use them which helps me so much in my other classes. Very helpful when you need it with a touch of sarcasm lol. Overal great teacher funny guy. Every professor should look up to this dude!
Max is honestly one of the best professors I have had so far. He is genuine, smart, helpful and extremely funny. A+
Great teacher with a great personality. This is a pretty easy course as long as you pay attention in class and take good notes. There is no text book required in this class.
This man was born to teach...you learn, laugh, and learn some more.Show up, care and he'll do the rest. Hope he never leaves this Campus.
Fantastic Teacher! The way he runs his class and explains the information takes you out of norm and helps you understand things on a more common ground. Hilarious and very helpful, wants to get to know his students. No way you can fail his class! He gives plenty of time for assignments and exams are easy if you go to class and take notes.Best teacher
Really cool teacher. You'll enjoy this class and have a great boost to your GPA as well! TAKE HIM!
This guy is awesome! He's so funny and charismatic that attending his lectures is a treat. He talks about relevant topics and current events so you're always up to date on new digital media developments. He's always willing to help and is a great guy altogether. Most DIG students HAVE to take him but it's better that way :-)
Only one word is needed to describe the teacher and the class: AWESOME! If you don't come out of this class with an A, then you shouldn't be in college! (haha)
Great teacher, have had him 4 times throughout the last year. If you do your work and care about the class he will make sure you pass. Don't expect grades back right away, but he wont let you fail.
Max is AWESOME. His lectures are current and never dull. He's funny and he'll actually get you thinking. In my opinion one of the best at UCF.
he is probably one of the hippest teachers on campus, he is always talking about his kids which is a plus. take his class he is so fresh.
The most outstanding teacher I have ever had since I started going to UCF! Very friendly, funny, can be sympathetic if you need to turn in something late. He's SO considerate, that when I needed to turn in an assignment for another class, he let me come into his lab off campus, so I could submit my project(which - btw he was instructing for too)!
He is one of the best teacher to start at UCF's Digital Media or other program that require this course. Extremely helpful, clear in his lectures, and not afraid to talk about the dark side of things. Mr. Croft is a must!!
class was very interesting but at times it made me think a lot in a good way. Helpfulness one to one was not good
I severely disapprove of Max Croft teaching anything related to programming languages and/or scripting languages. Those aside he takes his sweet time on giving us our assignments and phoned in the last assignment for DIG2000 this semester. Honestly if you want easy, he's your man, if you want to learn, hope for someone else.
Had Croft the past two semesters, dig 2000 in fall and Fil 4040 in spring and he is awesome. Makes it very interesting and he welcomes (and actually structures his classes) around open dialog and encourages free thought and opinion. Both classes I had were not programming courses and I can see how he may not be best suited for those. But he is A+
Honestly one of the best professors, if not the best, that I've ever had. He's hilarious, concise, relates to very recent topics, is very personable and charismatic. Workload is quite easy too.
He's a really funny and understandable professor. He actually makes you like being in a night class and since the beginning of the semester started he has never made us stay the three hours. The only bad part is some of the assignments are unclear, they're easy, but you never know what grade you have the whole semester. It's easy though.
No textbook except for a useless book we have online quizzes on. Rambles off on tangents. Tests from lectures. No powerpoints. Need a comp in class to get most of the notes down. Talks fast and can ignore u when u ask him to repeat. Never takes the whole class time, tho. Stuff on tests that he never covered. Doesn't remind u about online quizzes.
Croft is a nice guy, but a lazy teacher. He reads straight from a textbook what he wants you to know on the exam, although he also puts a few things on that he forgets to mention. The class is a cakewalk though, as long as you go to lecture and stay up with the assignments this should be an easy A.
Max is hands-down the best Dig Media teacher. He makes his classes fun and teaches stuff you can really apply in the REAL world. He has BUSINESS EXPERIENCE, he knows how it works unlike other teachers who haven't done anything else in life. Take good notes, all test is from notes! Have fun.
Max. Croft. is the real. deal. If you're in school to "make good grades" you might not like him because he teaches you what you NEED to know and about the actual job industry of the digital media field and not stuff from an assigned text book. take his class. all of them. that is all.
Great teacher. He has actual business experience, and literally grew up with digital media. He goes over what will be on the test he class before, and so gives you plenty of time to study. What he teaches is highly relevant and helpful to the real world. However, the textbook required is virtually worthless toward what the class is about.
Mr. Croft is a great guy and really interesting/funny to listen to during Intro to Digital Media. I liked him so much I took him again as a lab instructor for a different class. Not a good idea. Don't do it.
You will soon realize that there should be more to his classes than online group discussions and recital-esque presentations. Nice guy who presents some interesting information, but it gets old. Good class for easy A, however.
As someone with a fair amount of digital media experience, most of this class fell under the "...Yeah, I get it" category. He's kind of out of touch, but he does seem to know about the topic at hand. He seems very condescending, and talks down to you a lot. He'll play the Pokemon theme at least 20 times, which gets old fast. Skip him if you can.
This guy is super awesome and totally a silver fox. Take him as many times as possible!!!!!!!
His lectures are interesting enough, however some of the projects aren't clearly described and don't seem to have much point. He is funny though and the class is an easy A
Really easy but interesting class. He mostly covered older American cartoons and we didn't do a whole lot of learning about international or newer animation (especially the more 3-D stuff or stop-motion). His lectures are engaging and the assignments were easy. Just pay attention to the history aspect and who-did-what, etc.
Awesome Professor. I take him every chance I get. His tests are easy, and he's easy to listen to. I highly recommend him.
Great professor and very helpful and knowledgable. Definitely the one to take for any class. He is slow to reply to emails, so ask him questions in class. Don't be stupid or silly, he will call you out for it. Other than that, very great and good about grading.
This professor is great! He is funny and makes you enjoy the class. Class is overall easy and tests as well, it's material that we all should know. Quizzes and discussions every week on canvas.
He's funny and easy. Just take notes, go to class, and do the online work. His tests are easy when you study and use your notes
Class is so easy. I really enjoyed the digital media discussions before every lecture. It was a lot of fun. Don't need the textbook, you can Google all the answers for the quizzes. All exams are lecture based so it would be a waste to buy the book. He talks fast though, so either record his lectures or learn to type really fast!
Very cool guy and wants you to do well. Just study your notes and do the quick assignments and you'll be fine.
Croft has a really good energy when giving lectures which makes it really easy to get into the subject matter. Following assignment guidelines and listening during lectures is the easiest way to get an A. Easiest and most engaging 4000-level course I've taken.
This professor takes FOREVER to respond to emails, so if you are the type of person that likes constant contact with your professors, don't take him. Other than that, his lectures are very interesting and fun. Class is ridiculously easy if you're good with your computer. Do the discussions and quizzes and you'll ace the class.
Awesome professor. Always opens the class with music to channel out awkwardness. Very straight forward and to the point. Tells you EXACTLY what you need to know for the test. If you show up to class you should pass this class no problem. Weekly quizzes and assignments are easy and help you retain information. A++ for Professor Croft!
Great guy! He's the type to encourage you to do your best, and give you a hug if you need one. He starts class with a discussion recent newsethics in the digital world. Gives your brain a healthy rattle! Attendance doesn't matter, but it helps to take notes for his tests. Easy A if you pay attention, study a bit, and do the online discussions.
Didn't like the professor; made the class feel like a waste of my time save for the five or ten minutes he spews lecture notes taken straight from the required text. He's easy if you listen to that five minutes of lecture, and sit through the rest. Can be funny sometimes. No help on projects; if you don't know HTML, brush up before the 45th week.
Professor is fantastic and lectures are interesting. He spends a lot of the class time engaging the students in the discussions so they are more likely to retain the information. If you do the quizzes and discussions it will be an easy class. The tests are not hard and many questions are recycled from the quizzes and notes from the lectures.
Professor is a cool guy, lectures are fast-paced, and assignments and quizzes are easy. Just make sure you TAKE NOTES during class to study for the exams. He only does a 2 minute review in class with info at lightning speed. He doesn't take attendance but you should still show up if you want to know what he talks about in lecture.
This prof. is very knowledgeable and straight-to-the-point. He lectures fast, but not too bad and he lets you record. I never actually read the book, but quiz answers came straight from it. Croft is professional but is also sarcastic and funny. Very easy class, just go to the lectures and do your best on the tests, which aren't difficult.
Croft's lectures are entertaining and this was a pretty easy class. However, he can be very unorganized and some of his expectations are not clear at all. Several test questions were NOT covered, some of the online assignments had two different due dates, and he was not willing to discuss these discrepancies or provide clarification.
You'll only need the book for quizzes, but they're online so you can just google all the answers instead. Tests are easy if you show up, since they're only based on the lectures. The assignments are a pain (and no matter how good they are you'll never get a 100 on them, just a 95), but if you complete everything the class is an easy A.
Funny and interesting lectures, take him if you can! Attendance isn't taken, but you need to go to class to get the notes (the tests come directly from them). He talks fast, but the first 20 minutes of class discuss current events. Weekly homework on Webcourses is simple, just do them or your grade will suffer. Tests are SO easy if you study notes
Best teacher to having for digital media majorsminors at UCF. He makes the class fun and interesting to attend.
His lectures keep you alert, they're pretty funny. The lectures are on the test (easy) so take notes or record them. There's online assignments but he doesn't unlock them on time. He doesn't respond to messages or emails after the first week. Overall, his class is easy. You just have to get on him about certain things like grades and assignments.
I loved his class! For my first semester at UCF getting my Bachelor's he was a very refreshing start. Don't let the large class size fool you, because he still has personal connections with the students. His lectures are interesting and his opinions and metaphors are fabulous. I highly suggest taking Croft's class. Lecture Test, so don't skip!
Awesome professor. The course is super easy. Most of what is on the test comes from lectures, so if you take good notes and at least skim through the textbook you should be fine. The lectures aren't boring, he tells jokes and there is a lot of interaction with the class. Definitely my most fun class this semester.
Max Croft is a cool guy and a pretty engaging professor. He teaches important life lessons along with the necessary class material, so his lectures are rarely dull. Recording his lectures helps with note taking, as tests (not difficult) are directly from his lectures and somewhat from the textbook. I highly recommend attending class.
He was the best professor i had, doesn't take attendance but you probably wont skip, he always let us out early, reviews for tests, i took the final with studying only 15mins before. he actually gets you to learn. I was supposed to have him this semester for DIG3525 but they changed professors, Im so bummed.
Professor Croft is pretty great, but some of the assignments are dumb. Graded discussions on topics that are rather broad and end up not really being useful at all. As long as you do the work and take notes for lectures, you'll easily get at least a B. Don't expect him to give you much of a break if you miss assignments, though.
Quickie: Don't take Croft for labs. Everyone seems to give Max a huge break when it comes time to rate him. He's entertaining and has some enjoyable lectures. What sucks is when he signs up to teach labs. For DIG 2000 it was no problem, but for DIG 2030, 2109, and 2500 please stay away, he has no clue what he is doing and will screw you over.
The most standard basic online professor you could hope for when looking for easy A, but other than that your interest in any of the material is trivial at best. Some people don't care, but in a business where you need to know as much as you can (digital media), you are wasting time looking for easy grades finding quiz answers in a book every quiz.
Very disorganized but, super easy class to take. He is horrible at communicating. VERY EASY CLASS! You have 3 video projects, super easy. Exams are straight out of the notes.
Very concise, will really teach you a few topics during the semester instead of trying to cram 2000 things into your brain. Lectures are enjoyable, though missing more than 2 would really hurt you. Very late to grade, but understandably busy often. Seasoned professor; you won't put anything past him.
The class is pretty easy if you get the work done. However, the grades come in very late. He'd take more than 2 weeks to give you your test results or projects. Take him at your own discretion.
Took for History of Animated Films. A lot of the online course was broken (quizzes w/o questions, obsolete dates, outdated links) but he is very calm when receiving complaints about them. Doesn't give individual feedback unless you ask. Expect weekly discussions, quizzes, and projects. Very lenient on grading. Do the work 100% on assignment.
Tests for Hist. of Animation are all based off of the textbook and pretty easy (although some had answers that were marked wrong when we were originally correct, which he changed). 1 create-a-flipbook project and 1 self-filmed video that you post in the discussions. Interesting class for animation/film majors. Grades take forever to be posted.
Croft is a nice guy. Class was super easy that you would barely have to try to pass. His lectures could feel kind of pointless since most of the learning was done by working on projects outside of class. Easy A!
Max is a really nice guy. He's extremely entertaining and funny and is tolerant and respectful with all of his students. That's no exaggeration. He's a really great guy. That being said, as a professor, he's extremely disorganized. He's also not very good at answering any student emails. Until like 2 weeks later. Yes, I'm holding a grudge.
Class was 75 min long, but we rarely stayed the whole time. The first part of class is a large discussion, then we get into the notes. While his lectures aren't hard to follow, he does give a lot of information that is definitely on the test. Fun guy, barely studied for tests and got A's and B's. Only used the textbook for online quizzes.
Croft was a cool dude. We didnt really use the textbook that much except for the few online quizzes and sometimes for discussions as well. This is a very easy class, pity I switched out of game design because I would have loved to take this guy again.
The material's boring in my opinion but he makes it easy to learn w his engaging & fun lectures. Always reviews for tests the class before, clears things up in class about upcoming assignments, sometimes extends due dates, assignments are generally easy, SUPER nice, funny, cares about our success. don't buy the book, you can get an A without it.
Really cares for his students. He's always willing to help you one on one to work out any issues you're having. Great prof!
My favorite teacher in the Digital Media degree program. He is hilarious, easy to talk to and passionate in his lectures. He always has a uplifting spirit and his assignments are easy As as long as you are committed to working. He is one of the Digital Media classes I always looked forward to going to. You'll learn from him and be glad you did.
Professor Croft was great! Easy class as long as you participate online, and attend lectures. The hardest part about lectures was waking up for them! I would highly recommend him to any Digital Media majors.
Entry level class. Croft makes the class interesting by talking to students directly, and he usually ends early. Lot of tests, but he tells you exactly what to expect. Plays "When My Guitar Gently Weeps" before every class. Nice guy. Easy A.
Very easy class. Makes class entertaining and really gives great feedback if asked. Textbook is needed but are affordable. I wish I could have him for every DIG course.
Croft is an easy A but he is so disorganized and isn't clear on dates, and homework. I have had him for DIG 2000, 2030 and now 3525 his lectures are all the same content and some of the projects are the same too from previous classes. He sucks at emailing back so don't even bother try communicating with him via email.
This class is truly easy in all honesty. However the reason why I wouldn't take this class again is due to the fact that I don't feel as if I learned much from the professor himself. I learned more with the textbook then anything else. You should get the textbook it will make your life easier with the quizzes and exams.
Max Croft is well respected and an inspiration. I enjoyed his classes more than any other professor on campus!
Max Croft is an amazing professor. His lectures are very well structured and the homework is thought provoking. He is loud a Very clear about what he wants from his students. Very funny class, makes waking up early worth it. You will learn basic html in his class. Plays classic rock in the mornings and covers controversial topics in digital media.
A very well organized class and varied. He's and entertainer and filmmaker... He knows the Industry and their inside/out.
Professor Croft is something else. I've never had a professor quite as hilarious or engaging as him. He really likes to get his students involved in classroom discussions. I wouldn't say going to every lecture is necessary. I only went to about 5 the whole semester and did just fine in the class. Very easy as long as you do all the assignments.
One of the friendliest and caring teachers I've had. I had him for 2 classes and would take more with him. He had quizzes and alot of projects. As long as you tried on them you would do well. He exams were easy as long as you studied. Great professor, he really cared about the subject and tried to make it interesting.
Great lectures.
Easy class, go to his lectures once every four weeks or so and know test dates. Every thing he teaches are in his modules, but you'll need his textbook, conveniently written by him, to pass his online quizzes. Enjoy the class, he tries to make Digital Media fun at times, and he doesn't try and make the material hard.
Heavy on lectures which you need the notes on to pass the tests, but if you can get them from other people than you are fine. Usually one or two discussion post s for homework a week. And about 1 quiz per week. Super easy stuff.
Hilarious professor. This class is a free A and you don't really have to go but you should. Use quizlets made by other studentsto study and you'll easily get an A on the exams. One video project and one essay project that don't take over an hour each. Everything else like discussions and quizzes maybe take 20 minutes. Great class and awesome guy!
lots of work but not hard at all.
Do NOT buy the textbook! All are online, and you can google the at home quiz questions easily. All the exams are roughly the same, so after you take the first one, the next will be those same questions with a few extras. Go to the review and you will easily ace the class, even if you dont go to class.
Lecture is more important than the book in , quizlet can be used as a book, doesn't seem to change his materal. Croft is Interesting in class, however, don't even try to get ahold of him out of class, If you need him, grab his attention before he leaves the classroom, talk to him there. Takes forever to grade things but assignments are easy.
Book can be a useful aid, lectures most important. Make a friend group, 3-5 people who agree to film together, makes things easier. quizlet is your friend. If you need to speak with croft do it in the classroom, he doesn't check his email and doesn't really do the office hours. He won't have your first project graded before you do your 2nd/3rd
Took Croft for DIG 2000 in class/online. Lecture was entertaining and helped on the tests but I wouldn't say attendance is mandatory (he doesn't take it). However, you do get a lot out of his class and he's funny. There is a quiz and discussion due pretty much every week and project every other or so. Overall great class got an A.
In this class you will make/edit three videos that will be your main projects. Each week you also have a quiz and discussion due. Teacher is great and enjoyable. Attendance not mandatory but recommended (tests reviews). Textbook is needed if you need to study but he does go over the material in class just have to be a fast at taking notes.
Talks really fast so you miss half the notes. Tests are pretty straight forward. He tends to say "I'm not trying to trick you" but proceeds to put a couple of trick questions on the exams. Not a hard class, take notes, pay attention, & you should do fine. His lectures are good, strays off topic occationally, but its entertaining. Would take again.
lectures are super fun & engaging. attendance isn't required but almost all of the material on his tests comes straight from the notes you take in class. he talks pretty fast, but he'll repeat something if you ask him to. bring a laptop to take notes or your wrist is going to suffer. used the book maybe once all semester.
Very disorganized, nice guy but NOT a good professor. Funny in lectures, but often not relevant to what's on the test. Actual test topics are crammed in the review the week before. Unfair grading - literally told me that he gives 95 for following instructions and doing a good job, 100s are only for exceptional examples. Easy class but irritating.
He's a funny guy, but that's about it. It's an easy class though. His online modules are really unorganized, so make sure to look at the online calendar instead to see what's due. His lectures are mostly irrelevant info, as long as you go to the lectures that have the test reviews then you should be fine. There are 2 projects, but they're easy.
Amicable person and his class is simple. His quizzes are easy, but HE DOES NOT RESPOND TO EMAILS. If there is an issue address it to him after the lecture. There should be no reason for you to be failing his class unless you missed a good bulk of his assignments. You DONT need the textbook.
The best professors I've had are the ones who teach people, not material. That's what professor Croft does, and he does an amazing job of it. I found his class challenging enough to keep me engaged, but not so challenging that it's tiring or discouraging. He makes studying easy and rewarding, and is quick to give career advice. 10/10 recommended.
Mr. Croft is a good lecturer and his classes are interesting. I earned an A in his class, however he put my grade in as a B! Now I have a B on my transcript, and after multiple unanswered requests, this has not been fixed. A easy fun class turned into a nightmare, because of his error.
Max Croft is an easy grader. He gives easy As for all my assignments. A significant portion of the As were 100s from discussions. Croft is more of an entertainer. He plays youtube music before class. Don't expect to learn much in his classes though. He only does test reviews for his on campus tests, and the test.
Its midterm and I dont know if I should withdraw or not because nothing is getting graded. He sucks as a teacher, is never available to contact. Exam was full of errors. Im paying hundreds of dollars to watch every frame a painting (publicly viewable YouTube videos), teach myself out of a textbook, and participate in forced discussion
For a Digital Media professor, sucks at technology. Exams are meant to be taken during class time at home, but he often messes up and they are posted hours later which puts you in a scramble. Grades are rarely posted because he forgets to unmute the assignment. Really boring class. Take it online if you have to, I've learned and enjoyed nothing.
Croft is a very unprofessional professor. His tests are full of mistakes and trick questions. Even though he insists there are no trick questions. He let us take a test then decided to add more questions to it and make us all retake it. While it isn't a hard class to pass, he makes you work for an A. Also discussions are stupid and lengthy.
Class is entirely optional to attend. Do not buy any textbooks, as they can be found online for free. Tests are online, based on textbook, lectures, and are very similar to other DIG classes he has taught. Take for an easy A
Professor Croft was one of the weirdest online classes I have ever taken. He seriously never grades anything till last minute so you don't really know how you're doing in class. He NEVER responds to emails for help. It makes everyone taking the class not even care cuz he dosent even care. Thank god online resources helped me out. Just be cautious!
Not worth the stress. For a digital media professor, he somehow still doesn't know how to use canvas. Tests are online and meant to open at 8:30 but always were posted hours late. Exams also often posted a week early online on accident, and he gets mad when you take them early (even tho he posted them). Takes forever to grade assignments.
This class is a joke. I've learned nothing valuable after taking a class with him. He always announces that online exams will be posted during class time but usually posts them two hours later. Really inconvenient if you have things to do. Posts grades really late into the semester and takes forever to respond to emails. Wouldn't take him again.
Croft takes FOREVER to grade something, tests are online but he puts them up earlier and gets mad if you take it early. Changed time to finish Final when students were taking it and made students who took it, take it again. Don't recommend this class if you are serious about learning about computers. You don't have to show up to class. Overall, bad
For an online class, this was perhaps the most disorganized course I've seen. Assignments, quizzes, and projects would be placed in random modules, with assignments that have long since been due showing up. As for the quizzes and tests, many of the answers are literally found on Quizlet. He will be prompt about announcements, but that's it
Croft not only gave his students feedback, but he also created opportunities for us to give feedback to one another. In a film class, this is especially useful. I really enjoyed this course. I didn't feel like I HAD to do anything; I GOT to. And Croft handled the COVID crisis excellently, and made it clear how much he cared about our well-being.
Project & discussion post heavy. He tells you to get 3 textbooks, but I only used 1 of them constantly. One of them I opened once, the other not at all. He constantly changed due dates too; one week we had a project, a test, a discussion post, AND a quiz all due within the same couple o days. Hate that I had to take a film class as a non-film major
Took his online class and it was really easy, but a mess. Due dates kept changing and assignments weren't in the right module, I had to only use the calendar to figure out things were due. He reuses a lot of the same questions in tests so they were easy, but there were a lot of tests.
I enjoyed the assignments, but very project heavy. Gives no feedback on project through comments or rubric, so don't know what to fix for the next project. Discussions and quizzes' due times changed randomly, with some being due at 11:59pm and some at 11:59am, even 10am for some. Would love some consistency :(
The class is easy, and I learned a lot about film. However, it is disorganized to where the due date times are inconsistent. Assignments are due at 11:59am instead of 11:59pm, so do them early on. You will be given plenty of discussion posts and quizzes, but the quiz answers can be found online. He wants you to get 3 books, but I only used one.
Lots of reading and tests. Some quiz questions seem to appear out of thin air and not go along with assigned readings (especially in the earlier quizzes in this class). No comments provided on assignments, however he does seem to be knowledgeable in the field. Probably better in person.
This is my third class with Croft (I have a Digital Media minor). PLEASE find another prof. His classes aren't hard, but they're organized in the most confusing way possible. DIG3525 is the worst; he seems to think using projects such as food truck budgeting and submitting a website bid somehow apply to making a movie. I am so tired of this man.
After reading a great majority of Croft's reviews on rate my professors, I find it hard to believe any of them. I have taken Croft 4 times now, from DIG2000 to DIG 2535 - so on, and I disagree with most of the negative reviews. The lectures are quick and genuinely fun to sit through - his assignments are concise, exams have no tricks, super easy.
I'm not really sure how to feel about Prof. Croft. I had him online and he was never present for it, however through the pre-recorded lectures he would have us watch, it was easy to tell that he would've been at the very least engaging in an in person setting. Never heard him speak directly, so take that as you will.
This class is really easy and all of the answers can be found in the book. For the most part there is a clear grading criteria, but some of the projects are a bit vague. Croft's lectures are interesting and inspiring, but don't really assist in the work we have to do. I would recommend taking the class online, but he's slow to respond to emails.
He said attendance is mandatory, but never took attendance. I would say don't bother. The work is really easy, but this is for my major and I left feeling like I learned nothing. All the textbooks can be found as pdfs online. Find another professor if you actually want to learn. He doesn't really teach.
There are few assignments. My assumption was that he took over the class for someone based on the messy organization of the course. The work is really easy, but I can't say I learned much of anything that I didn't already know. The midterm and final are easy but was basically a vocab scavenger hunt. If you wanna learn, take a different professor.
Ive had him for 2 semesters and although it is an easy class, it still has some fun lectures to participate in. Even if not all of them are entirely on topic, its always memorable and a good way to remember topics pertaining to the course. I remember last semester, we had textbook errors so he sent out a copy of the textbook so people can follow.
Half the time he lets the class out an hour early. He tries and gets people to participate in discussions a lot and will make fun of you for whatever major you choose and call you unprepared. Easy class though, barely any thought goes into the assignments and you come out with an A.
PROS - Supplies the textbook - Fun, creative assignments - Only 13 assignments CONS - VERY disorganized (assignments disappearing and reappearing, Final Exam was taken off week before and then put back on the day before it was due w/no warning) - Assignments are unrelated to the class - Doesn't answer emails - Did not learn - Grades very late
Really fun lectures and super motivational. The class itself was easy, but I learned really valuable things by attending his lectures. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you will miss out on some information if you don't go. He has a lot of experience in the industry which gives him a great perspective! Very understanding, wants you to succeed.
His classes are disorganized. He goes in a big circle to make a little point. The class work and tests are pretty easy. Some of the tests have the wrong answers, so even when you expect to make 100, you will get less. Go to class before big tests, he tells you the answers as part of the review. He's a good guy and wants everyone to do well.
You can tell he enjoys what he does, and is really understanding if you e-mail him with concerns. There are 4 big projects, basically just long papers. Wish he gave feedback on our assignments. No rubrics for each assignment. I don't think the class was disorganized as everything was available in Webcourses. Quizzes and tests were easy.
I heard a lot of people like him in person, but his online classes are disorganized. Graded veeeery slowly and didn't give any useful feedback. Class is very easy and creative, though. I am having an in-person class with him next fall and I am excited as he seems like a fun/caring person who just struggles with online classes and grading on time.
Took Croft for Summer B, and as someone with a 9-5 job every day, this class was super manageable. Online video lectures were key for the 3 tests. 0-2 easy book quizzes per week. Usually 1 creative project per week which were pretty fun. Only complaint is that test 1 had some content from the test 2 review video that went up a week after test 1.
This was the first professor I'd taken when I first got to UCF and I'm very glad he was the first! Not only is his class an easy A, but he also gives great life advice for everyone in the digital media major!
He was an easy grader. Was quick to respond to emails. His lectures were from another professor. I found them very boring. He included a video of himself as an introduction and it was very entertaining. I wish he were the one speaking in lectures. I plan to take other courses with him in-person.
One of the best professors I've had the pleasure of being taught by. Infuses his lectures with life lessons and stories, making them fun and enjoyable.
He seems like a really nice guy, but getting ahold of him outside of class is impossible. I still have emails I sent months ago that are unanswered. Assignments provide little feedback. His lectures are interesting and somewhat engaging, though, but overall the course feels messy and unorganized.
His syllabus says attendance is mandatory but he never checks for attendance and it isn't a grade so I barely showed up. As long as you do his assignments, you'll pass the class, he's an easy grader. Discussion posts, quizzes, projects, and tests will be on this course. Very funny guy though and he does have some engaging lectures.
Pretty sure our class got mixed curriculums. Went from talking about games, technology, and HTML to analyzing art. Didn't get much out of the class for game dev, but was an easy class nonetheless. The book is not really useful and can be safely and securely purchased for a good price on the interweb!
Online course, so no real need to communicate with professor. Coursework and lectures were laid out nicely but instructions were a bit vague/confusing sometimes. Seems to be very easy, though - I put minimum effort in my projects and still got an A, and I didn't even buy the textbook because the tests are so straightforward.
For a professor who teaches digital media, he does not use his computer very well. Email responses were short, 1-word responses. The lessons are all in the wrong modules, so you don't have the correct information to complete the quizzes. When I pointed it out, he brushed me off rudely. Easy A though so I can't complain too much.
Honestly, he seemed to forget this class cause the teachers assistant did all of the work. He never responds to emails, didn't seem to care about the class.
Second class I've taken with Croft, but he wasn't really present in this one. The TA did all of the grading and took a LONG time to grade. There were journal-type assignments which were cool but boring and unnecessary, along with discussions, midterm and final (short answer on vocabulary from the course). Pretty easy course if you put in the effort
I would highly suggest not taking this professor's courses online. His modules are set up horribly, half the material he makes you watch doesn't pertain to the course or is tested on, the discussion posts and projects are unclear at times, and he hasn't graded anything halfway into the semester. He seems like he is probably better in person.
Take this class in person. Croft has the course set up in Web Courses as disorganized as possible and the in-person lectures are very funny and enjoyable. Projects are also submitted in discussions so everyone can see them, which can be fun. It's not time intensive and is very easy. Great class to make friends in.
Not having mandatory attendance is great, because almost all of his lectures are mostly tangents that don't help that much. The plentiful discussion posts are more convoluted than other classes and impossible to get a 100 on. He lets you use the textbook for quizzes, which is helpful because otherwise, the discussions will drag your grade down.
Not much to say about Professor Croft, great guy and an easy class, yet informative. Was online so didn't get the chance to see him outside of his recorded lectures but he seems like an awesome guy.
Good ol' Max Croft. Assignments are simple enough, if not tedious. Only issue this semester was that the course assignments switched around a lot which confused me a bit, but he would always announce when he did this.
His material had nothing to do with portfolio development he reused the classic fable animatic. All discussions, quizzes and even exams were related to an entirely different course about animatics, film and art. The modules were locked, but had assignments due. No response via email. "Thinking outside the box". Avoid if you value your time.
(took Fall 2023) Super easy class if you just do the work. Only a few assignments and everything's relatively easy. His lectures made me laugh.
Class is largely comprised of discussions, small projects, a midterm, and a final. Final can either be a visual novel or an interactive game. The small projects build on each other in creating a fictional world. Late assignments and projects aren't allowed, so be careful. Overall, watch the due dates and the class is pretty simple
Such a funny guy who knows his stuff about the tech industry. Lectures are more catered to Game Design majors but it doesn't affect learning or assignments. Just do the light work and you're good. His lectures are very discussion like and include a lot of fun topics and jokes. Would definitely take him again!
After taking a class with an extremely frustrating and difficult-to-work-with professor and seeing his name under "similar professors", I've come to a new realization on just how good of a teacher Croft is an entire summer after taking his class. Would I take him again, and would I direct other people to him? Yes, yes, and a thousand times yes.
Professor Croft is a fun and engaging lecturer, with a great sense of humor. His class is an easy A, as long as you stay on top of the light workload. I found unstuckstudy and the free textbook to be super helpful for studying and acing the quizzes. Overall, a great class to take!
Extremely disorganized and very bad at responding to students. For someone teaching an ONLINE class about VIDEO, he does not seem very tech savvy. Graded everything weeks after the due date with no feedback, the only saving grace there is he's a fairly lenient grader. Prepare to be confused and have to puzzle out his expectations, but don't stress.
Prof Croft is easy overall and I've taken him a couple times now, but for Video Fundamentals as a class, we didn't make any videos until the last two projects and spent most of the semester watching lectures/reading/writing and drawing storyboards (over and over). It felt outdated and not relevant to me, so I was disappointed in the course quality.
Lots of talk about AI. Don't take if you're a creative because you will be tired of all the talk about using generative AI in your work. The topics feel outdated and if you do have to take this class i'd advise taking it online rather than in person because I felt like I never learned anything during in-person lectures.
