worst professor at wcc.! he expects you to know everything and most of the class failed his tests lower then a 40. he give you about 50 questions for homework and doesnt go over the homework. we started with a full classroom nd more then half withdrawl. i dont recomend taking his class at all. better off with a different professor
i took this class in highschool and retook it to get an easy A i was an expert in the subject, but this guy was so difficult. I did every HW assigned and when the test came we saw problems he never explained how to do. This teacher had a very confusing way of teaching a method i have never seen. AVOIDDDD
His class consists of him putting questions on the board and then him solving them on the board and the class copying what he writes. No explanations, no class participation, no learning- he just does everything quickly and briefly and expects you to understand it. Worst teacher I've had in my life. Strongly suggest avoiding him.
He explains the material really well. He doesnt go over homework in class, if you have any questions he will help you by the end of the class, he does give a lot of homework. I recommend this professor, he always does quicks reviews to make sure everybody is in the same level.
Hes actually pretty good. He makes a few mistakes here and there but i dont know why he is getting all negative rating. He does give alot of homework but he doesnt check it so, techincally no homework. Tests are simple nd he is pretty funny with his stories so class isnt completly boring. I highly recommend.
This guy is an adventure. Not only is he impossible to understand, he is constantly changing his mind on curriculum. He will spend 3 weeks teaching you something that will have 1 question on the exam. Avoid if possible.
I was very pleased with Prof. Lee. He was always very organized and covered a lot of details to explain math, algebra, etc. He was demanding, asked that we work a lot, but also provided uniquely clear explanations of how to solve problems. He was great.
Never take his class! I was a math student with an A for the past 5 years and all of a sudden I get a 69 on his test and thats one of the higher scores in the class too. He make's absolutely no sense and uses pointless references. He is also constantly making errors on take home quiz's, tests and even class examples. I now hate math thanks to him.
I was a B+ student on my previous math class, and now all of the sudden I get 60s. Not only I got a D on my first semester taking Precalc with him, but also lucky me next semester my schedule only fitted his class again, and once again I got a D. just NOT GOOD AT ALL!
HORRIBLE!!, stay away! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! I NOW HATE MATH BECAUSE OF HIM
STAY AWAY!!!!! YOU COME IN WITH AND F AND WILL LEAVE OUT WITH AN F. Made the mistake to take him!
I loved math before entering this class. He puts problems on the board and tells you he will give you a minute and 20 seconds later he solves it and doesnt explain what he just did. Then moves on to the next problem. He's kind of disrespectful too and attacks your intelligence.
His a good College Algebra and Trig teacher. He explains everything step by step and writes every step on the board.Cons are that he gives few tests so you have to study or else you'll do bad. Overall, you have to work in this class. If you want an easy, who doesn't teach you teacher, than look else where.
Bad teacher expects you to learn by yourself
Really bad professor if you are going to take class with him don't do it. You will fail.
The worst math teacher I've ever had. Get out if you can. He goes on rants of anything that has nothing to do with the topic and his test are so hard. You pretty much need to teach yourself everything. Switch professors right away. I was so good at math and after this class I hate it
I honestly don't get what is so bad about this professor. He explains everything through for me and if I do not understand anything he always helps me even outside his office hours. He tells pretty funny jokes as well. I recommend this professor as long as you do the work otherwise your screwed if your lazy and don't do anything.
Teacher is a overall a nice person but his lectures do not share that trait. As soon as he walks in, there's not even a "hi", we immediately jumped into problems and we have to solve them in 2 minutes. He gets impatient when asked a question regarding the subject and he can go on and on introducing new terms to confuse you. Also, his test are hard.
Professor Lee will help you anytime anywhere with any questions you have. Everyone says he is hard and I failed my first test but that was because I barely paid attention and did not do the work. Once I started paying attention a little more and did some of the homework then I started doing very well. I highly recommend him.
Just take this class somewhere else. He comes to class, leaves, comes back, gives group work, leaves, problems on the board, passes attendance sheet...that's the class. Tests are horrible!!! If you set up the problem from left to right: point off. If you circle the answer: point off horrible grading rubric too. I leaned nothing. FIND A DIFF PROF!!
Come on guys! This teacher gives sooo much extra credit. Like I went from low B range to an A because of the extra credit. He is always willing to help even outside his office hours. I noticed that most of the students that did not do well in his class missed more than 2 classes and did not do too much of the homework. So just show up and do work!
Funny professor & a good guy , just his ways of teaching is not for everyone. He would make you hate math & refuses to show students an easier way to complete a problem. His technique of doing problems makes it very confusing. One math question will require at least 5 pages of work. My advice is to not choose him.
He is a funny and nice guy but sometimes hard to understand. He doesn't grade homework assignments but you must do them or you will fail. He drops the lowest test grade and gives extra credit on all four tests for the semester especially the Final. You must attend class and ask for help, he will help you out.
I strongly recommend him if you want an F
he was born to teach Math
Amazing teacher who will teaches at a level to excel in calculus and beyond. Gives generous review for test, where questions are similar in structure. Test on knowledge and application of a difficult problem, so formulas are given. If I could, id take again, I have learnt more in his math class than any other. Difficult but want student to pass
if you actually study you will pass.
Professor Lee is a great teacher he explains math in a way that is very natural. I liked the class because I actually understood math unlike in years past. One thing is for sure you should pay attention and do the recommended homework. The test questions mirror the homework questions just with different numbers.
The material in the class is not clear. The professor didn't do much to help out when we needed it. He would constantly tell us that this course was designed to make students struggle, and when we did he still didn't help. He would leave the room and say that he was lazy and didn't feel like helping. My strong advice don't take this class, it sucks
Unless you have previous experience with precalculus, I would not recommend this Professor. He breezes through the material and if you are unsure of what is going on, he does little to help. In this class, you basically teach yourself. If you don't have prior experience with this subject, I would definitely try a different Professor.
Prof. Lee is an excellent teacher; fair, honest, thorough and clear. I would take a math class with him again! His explanations were easy to understand, and he cracks jokes in class. Don't expect an easy A though, because he requires students to be thorough in answering their questions on quizzes and tests. Bonus - no required online component!
my counselor wouldn't allow me to take online classes yet, so I had no choice but to take this class but TRUST ME take this class online! Professor does not teach anything! we group up and teach each other which is beyond dumb ! we have to enter the homework online which is super annoying !!! If math your worse subject, don't take this professor
He don't explain things and doesn't help at all. He doesn't let us use calculators unless we sneak them using it.
His ways of teaching are not for everyone. He would make you hate math. His technique of doing problems makes it very confusing. My advice is to not choose him because I have done 3 calc in my country and this professor is far the worst I had. BELIEVE ME, I LOOKED UP HIS RATINGS AND TRIED TO BELIEVE IN PEOPLE WHO SAID HE WAS GOOD, BUT HE IS NOT.
I had him for Beginning algebra he was horrible. I actually had the chance to figure out my own way of learning how to get my answers solved and he told me that even though I got my answers correct it wasn't how he taught it so i didn't get anypoint or id get points taken off ... i dropped his class and went back to professor jay she is the best
Hes not clear and i just dont like his methods
This guy knows what he's doing. He was born to teach math. If you don't know math, thats your problem. Don't blame him!!!
He is a funny guy. Thats about it. He is hard to understand in class sometimes because of his accent. He definitely grades a little harder than most math teachers and he really wants you to understand the concept of what you are learning. Just being able to do the problems is not enough. He is there to help you but his class is hard.
He's hard to understand and always claims he is giving your perfect opportunities for grading but that isn't true. He doesn't give partial credit for his part two questions on his exams and expects you to learn the material on your own
One of the WORST EVER!! He doesnt know how to teach, write notes, and is very confusing. Plus its hard to understand him sometimes because of his accent. On top of that he write SLOPPY so its hard to read whats on the board as well. He makes the strangest comparisons that get him talking about something completely unrelated to math and wastes time
This is why you should never take his class: His lectures are awful, really hard to understand since he goes really fast. Instead of teaching us easy ways to get the answers, he gives you hard examples which in the process really confuses you a lot. HE DOES NOT REVIEW BEFORE THE EXAM AND WANTS YOU TO LEARN BY YOUR OWN. ITS JUST A WASTE OF TIME
Horrible professor and terribly harsh grader! Never Again!
So I took this class over the summer. The experience was absolutely horrible and I did not learn calculus at all during this class. I ended up becoming severely behind my classmates because of his terrible teaching.
He really will make you work for any grade you get. I thought he liked and toward the end of class, I was struggle. He is typically late (5-25 minutes) and he does not teach by the book after the first exam. His tests are long and despite the fact that there's multiple choice, he loves the "not an answer" option, making it even harder. So hard.
Skipped around a lot, he was funny but I just did not benefit from his classes so I dropped the class.
The professor is good, he takes a lot of time explaining one problem. If you are good at math this class will be so easy for you and if you think math is difficult just say attention because he explains every single problem in class and he always asks if everyone understand the topic. His exams are pretty long but that hard at all.
This Professor wants you to do math the way he does it, if you do a math problem and you answer is correct, and you didn't work the math problem the way he work it. He will take marks out although you get the correct answer. He also gives a lot of homework. My advice to you if you want to pass a math class do not take his professors.
It's a shame to see a great professor have such a low rating. If you're good in math this course will be a breeze,he takes his time and tries his best to make sure everyone is on the same page. He is always more than glad to help any students after class if something is not understood. Practicing outside of class is you're responsibility.
Sad to see this professor get such low ratings... Pay attention and your grades will reflect that. A lot of students in his classes are rude and don't pay attention- He gives those students multiple chances and explains things again if he has to. He won't move past a subject without checking that everyone is ok with it first. JUST PAY ATTENTION.
This teacher is terrible at teaching math and hes the worst teacher ever
took the online summer class. was left to fend for myself with no zoom lectures or teaching. was to teach myself concepts and do the assignments on my own. i even had to grade all of my assignments. this teacher posted announcements and that's it. had about 6-8 hours of math work to do a day. took calc H in hs, but this was horrible. waste of money
I thought Professor Lee was really bad, but after taking another professor for Calc 2, I realized that he was actually quite good. He gives honest, helpful feedback, and he genuinely wants you to succeed. Compared to other professors, his class is still hard, but he makes it possible for you to get a solid grade, even if you struggle with math.
its currently 3:51 am doing another hw from another class. Anywyas prof. Max is G O O D. if you really want to learn math , choose him! because he shows the equation by hand!!! better than relying on calculated all time. but he does teach quite gast so if math is not your game or if youre too shy to ask questions this
This professor doesnt even teach math you would think math 92 is easy but no he makes it 100x more difficult ! He makes it way more harder than it already is sometimes he wont even let you into his class which is absolutely Insane I came across a lot of terrible teachers but this one stands out the most..... Dont take this class with him!
Took the 5 weeks class for the summer, worse thing I've ever done. He fell behind in lectures and expected us to do 18 different topics (about 3 hours each) of work he hadnt even taught during the last two weeks. Maybe on a regular setting hes better, but do not take the summer class, and expect that you can just wait for him to cover the material
he was super helpful and understanding during exams, but wow he was SO unhelpful over email. he wouldn't even answer my questions - i asked him for help on a concept and he said "practice it" pretty much. kinda lame if you ask me. exams were hard but he was understanding about them. i took the asynchronous 5 week summer course, calc 1.
I had the privledge of having this guy for a 5 week summer course. I cannot give an opinion how he is in class because we did not meet. What I can say, if you need this class, do yourself a favor and DO NOT REGISTER this class. I literally cannot EMPHASIZE THIS ENOUGH. So much hw and his tests are borderline ridiculous. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!!
Honestly, this professor is probably a great person outside of class but my god he gives way too much hw and floods information towards you expecting to know it. The first 3 weeks of class he gave us 240+ math questions to do on my math lab. The amount math you have to learn on your own is disapointing because even though he teaches, it's not good.
Terrible professor, would not reccomend. Unfocused other than his online classes which forced him to give grades. I ended up starting at WCC; Hats upset him, he spoke openly about his private life and wasn't poignant. First year he was perfect when you kissed up but when you challenged in upper classes he's defensive and crude. Beyond despicable
Lee - HW, tests, thick accent. I completed his class with a 102, however I don't believe that I would take him ever again. During my semester, Lee assigned us a total of 4200 HW questions. These questions were graded as a net, and if you didn't correctly answer at least 85%, you weren't given full credit. If you struggle with math, DON'T TAKE LEE
Don't take this professor. There's far better math professors at this college. Max is a nice guy, but is extremely unreasonable. If you don't get a 60 or higher for the final exam you fail. Even if all your previous grades are perfect 100s you'll still fail if your final exam score is below a 60, with is complete asinine.
Max seems nice at first but is definitely the worst professor I ever had. He expects the majority of the material to be self-taught and barely covers half the material in his lectures. He is an extremely unfair and harsh grader on exams and gives very tricky questions. He gives you 0 credit if an answer is not written EXACTLY the way he wants it.
Max claims that you need to put in 12 hours per week of individual work but that is a total lie (closer to 12 hours per day if anything). Save yourself the time and never take this course. His exams are ridiculous and even if an answer is correct he will barely give any credit if your work is not identical to the way he expects you to write it.
Just don't even bother.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS YOU WILL NOT PASS. His way of teaching is outdated and gives no partial credit. For a math class that is very concerning. HW and take home exams make 30% of your final grade, which are not enough to pass. Stay away from this professor. Anyone who is looking to transfer their math credit, look elsewhere. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Gives a ton of homework that are part of our grade. I had a really hard time last semester while taking his class. However, he was always open to talk when I needed to express my concerns. He told me to keep working hard because nothing great would come without effort. After a lot of crying and late nights studying I passed his class with A.
I had Professor Lee for College Algebra and it was overall average. The HW that's assigned in MyLab is a lot-you have to receive a 85% or higher for each HW chapter and it is A LOT (not exaggerating) of questions. However, he does allow you to drop one of your lowest test grades and replace it with your final exam grade, which is a plus and helps.
Please do not take this class over the summer. Say goodbye to your July because you will be doing 50 questions web assignments every day for a month. If you want an extension on any work he won't give it to you. Very test heavy, if you have 100% in the class u can still fail if you get below a 55% on the final. Expects you to teach yourself. 1/10
he's very unorganized and very terrible at pacing & teaching. He taught at an agonizingly slow pace,I did okay in this class because the material is not hard at all, but he requires you pay 75$ for a pearson course and then you have to do abt 500 tedious and long math problems before the end of the semester. He is a nice person though.
This was easily one of the hardest classes I've ever taken, don't pick this if you want lots of homework. Very hard to understand, and a very confusing way of teaching as well. He would pick the weirdest way to get to the answer, do yourself a favor, and pick another class. The first week of homework was almost 400 questions. Do homework to do ok.
He gives too much hw on weekends- one weekend we would have 400 questions then the next not a single assignment. He uses teaching techniques that only he understands and if we ask or suggest a different way, it's shot down. He uses terrible analogies when explaining problems. If you want to truly understand the material, choose a different teacher.
This was one of my hardest classes that I'v ever taken and I would not recommend it to any student. The way he teaches is very hard to understand and you will get lost very easily.
DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE AT ALL. I retook this course for a better grade and needed up screwing myself with this class. He is the worst professor I have encountered. Please listen to everyones warning and just talk to your counselor to find a solution. It is not worth going through this course you will learn absolutely nothing of value here.
terrible professor, if you're taking calculus for the summer, expect to do homework EVERYDAY just to keep up, pointless take home quizzes, and tests. The tests are all multiple choice so good luck solving problems for 10 minutes, forgetting a symbol and getting no partial credit. Unless you dedicate your entire summer to this class, DO NOT take it.
Max Lee is truly a great guy, super funny. BUT, there is a bigger issue with his overall class. He gives an absurd amount of homework. There is simply tons of busy work. He also teaches with sometimes odd analogies that are kind of funny but hard to follow. Don't recommend taking this class if you wanna have a life over the summer.
Prof Lee is extremely hard to understand often going on long tangents and not being able to get to the point. He refuses to explain and doesn't take any kind of mistake correction and constructive correction well. Also, he gives ungodly amounts of homework and believes in the quantity of the homework over the quality.
Max was hard to understand and made strange (usually political) jokes that were used as metaphors for math concepts. His take-home quizzes are long, around 8 pages with multiple parts in each question, even though they're self-graded, he expects you to have three pages of work for one question and you must match his answer key to earn credit.
Dont take this class
I had high hopes for this subject, but the professor's teaching style was a letdown. Their explanations frustrated students, and the workload demands 25 hours weekly. I spend countless hours trying to understand independently and 15+ hours in tutoring. The academic support center teachers have been a lifeline. Avoid Max Lee at all cost.
Everything everyone else is saying is 100% accurate. Unreal amounts of homework for poorly, strangely taught concepts, the course has an genuinely unnecessary amount of work that will set you up for failure. If this many people are all complaining about the same things, that should be warning enough for not take this class.
He pretty chill but his teaching style is weird
He's a nice professor, but when I had him at the time back in 2022, he had a mask on him all the time and I could not understand anything he said due to his accent. Way too many questions for homework, would give use 300 per week and expect us to automatically know what everything is. Would not take again ever.
Incredible amount of homework and most of the lectures are difficult to understand as his teaching style is weird. He would often not focus on the main point and would start yapping about unrelated stuff or use completely unrelated metaphors to teach which are just annoying when you are genuinely behind. I went in just for attendance and selfstudy.
Very helpful in class and will explain a problem in detail if needed. Tests are fairly easy if you pay attention in class and he tells you what will be on the exam. However, he gives an insane amount of work to do at home. Pros: Lenient on deadlines. Thorough explanations. Funny. Cons: WAY TOO MUCH HOMEWORK Take-home quizzes make no sense
Terrible Professor. Does not teach the concepts, you have to do the online homework to learn for exams. Doesn't answer any questions. You don't get any of your grades back during the semester. Horrible all around
Liked him as a person but not fond of teaching style. Very course work and white board heavy. Prepare to take lots of notes.
Professor Lee is excellent by inspiring the students to strive and give their best, the lectures are engaging and make accessible the material for everyone. He explains complex topics in a detailed way. Also, the homework, take-home quizzes are very helpful, and he is flexible with the due date. The tests are not difficult.
He has a ego, if you find a simpler way to do something or solve a equation. He overcomplicates everything he teaches and will draw a graph or something in comparison to that to do simple things like 17-25, he has a know it all mindset and will try to intellectually degrade you and will make you feel incompetent and unable to complete the class.
He drags things that can be simply explained, then he wants to assign 200 questions to every homework assignment. He always has to say something about Donald Trump
