Just because an instructor is good-looking doesn't mean they don't have to teach. Most of class time is spent with girls giggling and sighing and trying to attract his attention, so nothing gets accomplished. I doubt he'd accomplish anything, anyway, because he has no idea what he's doing. For the record, I'm a girl, so this isn't "sour grapes."
HE is not so bad. He is young and just learning how to teach.I was one of his biggest critics at first, but he is getting better. Also he is willing to explain things to you, know matter how simple the idea seems to everyone else.
I would tend to think that "girls giggling and sighing and trying to attract his attention" is a problem of the students, not the professor. I found it refreshing to have a professor who wasn't stuck in his twenty-year teaching groove. He is extremely knowledgeable in the areas that we studied, and he is also in on what is 'cutting edge'.
Definately a HOT teacher, but also good. Very funny, interactive, and can pretty much make you feel comfortable coming for help or just yelling out stupid questions during lecture.
Very good prof. He makes sure you know the material before he gives you tests and there are no surprises on said tests. Easy classes, even the upper level one.
He brings himself to the students level and makes jokes to keep us awake on a subject that isnt very intertaining
young and cute. He will be a better professor with a few more years of experience.
Good Prof.
Funny, smart, hot, awesome in every way! He was a very interesting professor. He made the subject much more interesting than I thought it could be. And put humor into everything. Projects weren't terribly difficult, just a lot of reading.
AWFUL. With perfect attendance, I learned nothing. Viatori is patronizing and doesn't answer any questions. We never used the textbooks. Lab was fun, but that's only because the prof wasn't there. I would NOT recommend this course!
Generally awesome instructor. I thought some of the books would be horribly boring, but they turned out to be really entertaining and rather easy to read. He is helpful, approachable, and personable.
Great professor. Interesting and funny, and has the ability to relate anthropology to different areas such as pop culture. He is personable and willing to help students. I took him in the summer, and he admits that he has a closer relationship with students in the summer because the class size is smaller.
The professor was nice enough, but this class was terrible. The work is very detail-oriented. The prof reads his powerpoint to you in class, but he avoids any questions. I went to his office for extra help- waste of time. My TA is the only reason I learned anything.
Very very hot, almost to the point of distracting ;)
very nice guy, also can be funny at times.
He is a nice guy, but the class is probably twice as long as it needs to be, we seem to wade around in the same information a lot without learning many new things. It is annoying how he assumes everyone is a freshman and "needs to drink coffee" it's a morning class, and people are losing interest because it's very repetative.
King of tangents, but still a great professor.
Viatori is an arrogent, self-loving, un-attractive jerk. He truely and openly believes he is God's gift to the world. His lectures are mind numbing, and his coffee comments are irritating. He is inflexible and does not return emails.
Good prof, does like to go on tangents but his classes are discussion based so it happens.
Incredibly arrogant, I can't stand his attitude or his personality. He clearly despises his 201 classes, probably for good reason. He is a solid professor, though, and I really respect his decision not to use a text book for the class.
Easy class. Easy A
Decent
Fun professor, welcomes discussion. I like the fact that he understands the costs of books are way to high and doesn't make his class get a text book. Easy class if you attend.
Often arrogant but is obviously a very inteligent man.
Max is a funny guy and really knows his stuff. You can tell that he'd prefer to be out in the field rather than teaching, though. Make sure you follow the directions EXACTLY for your papers and you'll be fine. Typically, his classes are a lot of book reviews and discussion. He's also one of the hottest profs on campus, if that matters at all.
Max is nice. I like him. He's coo..
Best way to get an 'A' is laugh at his bad jokes and criticize every book you read except authors that he knows personally. Most likely spends more time fixing his hair before class rather than the lectures.
I don't think he's hot AT ALL.
Go to lecture, it may seem like common knowledge, but he tests over random facts you probably don't know. Skim the readings and you'll be fine. The TA was pretty picky about homework grading.
not flexible or helpful would not recomend at ALL
I attended all of the lectures, did all of the readings and still got a horrible grade. The TA's were much worse than the actually teacher. They were very harsh on grading
Dr. Viatori wasn't always clear on what he wanted us to write down for notes, but lecture was usually stimulating. The TAs are a bit picky in grading, but that's no big deal... Overall the class was interesting- really opens your mind to things like immigration and globalization. Max and the TAs were nice people :)
Max is a cool professor. Has funny jokes every now and again. Class is easy as long as you write down key points and pay attention during class. TA was cool, kinda got picky with grading after midterms though. Study notes once before tests and you're good.
The class itself was really interesting and Dr.Viatori was funny at times. Make sure to take notes or else you will do poorly on tests. The class is simple as long as you pay attention and do the small essays for lab.
Very clear lectures, but make sure you take notes otherwise the quizzes can be difficult. Make sure you read the texts given. If you keep up with the readings and attend the group sections you shouldn't have any problems doing well.
The lectures are very stimulating. An enjoyable class to take. It's somewhat annoying, however, how distracted I get by his incredibly attractive movements. Some days I didn't really pay attention to what he was saying (just watched his gorgeous self), and still got a decent grade
his interesting lectures have me moving closer to him each lecture, that among other reasons. His hotness isn't distraction but keeps my eyes on his mouth the whole time. If you don't find him attractive, teaching wise and physically, you are lame or a lesbian.
the tests are tough but its easy to pay attention when looking at max. The T.A.'s are pretty friendly and helpful.
Pay attention in class and you will do just fine. Concepts are easy to follow
Max is hard. 201 is fun and interesting but if you don't come to class and take an extensive amount of notes you will not do well. My TA was hot, Max is nice to look at, but he likes to ramble and this is definitely not an easy A.
Good professor. Very willing to help. Tests are extremely easy but make sure you go to your small group sessions a lot of questions come from that portion of the class.
He's hot sure, but he often goes off on tangents about photos that are irrelevant to the coursework. He's teaching styles is all over the place and he jumps around from topic to topic
Did not like this teacher at all. Very full of himself and not a very good teacher. Make sure you read the material
Really knows his stuff and knows how to teach it. A lot of information covered, but if you study and pay attention you will do fine. A great class, very interesting, and definitely reccommended.
Moody and uninteresting. Would only take his class if necessary.
His lectures are super boring, but if you dont go there's no way you'll pass. If you take good notes over the PowerPoints you will do fine on the tests. There is a quiz once a week and I have figured out that how you do on the quizzes will pretty much be your grade because there are no other assignments to earn you points. Read the readings!!
Did not enjoy this class.
Good, teacher but classes are quite boring. But, his tests are easy
Good.
Overall average teacher, lectures are boring making the 50min seem like a million. Always tried to cracked jokes (mostly about millennials -_-) which fell flat most of the time. Tests were RIDICULOUSLY easy, I must have skipped a million classes and still got an A on the midterm. Also group projects makeup like half your grade so good luck.
Great guy, the tests are easy and class is funny if you have an intelligent sense of humor. He answers any questions you might have and everything is in the notes.
Viatori is almost too good at his job. He really ought to have his own talk show or something. He makes a lot of super complicated material very easy to understand. He is also super kind and patient and its fun to listen to his lectures. Good man good professor. Got a lot out of his class
Class was fairly easy. There are 5 exams, which are all based on lecture. If you take notes and pay attention, the tests will be easy. Lectures can get boring but he does his best to keep your attention. Homework and quizzes for recitation are also pretty easy.
A lot of readings, which are boring. The quizzes and exams have questions over the readings. Tests come from lecture notes, so class attendance should allow you to pass.
I loved this class and I thought that he did a good job of making information that could be boring very interesting. He made a lot of jokes, which were appreciated in the early Monday class. Tests are based on lecture notes, and he gives a lot of time to write down the necessary information before continuing to talk . Some reading for recitation
His lectures can be boring but he uses personal narratives to keep the class interesting. He is extremely funny. You will probably hear at least once during the week that "You all must be tired lets end class early" Recitation is boring and useless but you need to read the books. About 1/5 of the exams come from outside readings. Great guy!
He's a very amusing professor, made the 9am not too bad. Difficult to motivate self if not super into anthropology. Good story teller. If you do the homework, take the quizzes, participate in recitation, and mostly pay attention in class you will be fine.
Max is a very personable professor. He actually made me want to go more into Anthropology because of how fun he made it seem. Dr. Viatori made 9AM a time to look forward to because lecture was so enjoyable. There was a couple papers during the first half of the semester, but they are graded by TAs so your mileage may vary. You'll enjoy Anthro 201.
Max is a cool guy
Very boring lectures. Confusing powerpoint slides and terrible notes. Exams are barely related to lecture. Viatori makes the class seem like he is wasting his own time. Exams are full of trick questions.
I like this teacher's lectures but it can drone on. If you don't like listening, don't take this online. The quizzes are simple IF you actually do the reading. Give yourself AT LEAST two hours. Four if you read slowly. Just remember you can spread this out over a couple days.
The most beautiful specimen to roam the Earth. The test is straight from his lecture and the readings. If you show up and listen you'll get an A. Make sure to participate in discussion.
I like to take notes verbatim of what's given on lecture slides, which really worked in my favor when it came time to study for the tests, which are directly pulled from both lecture and recitation discussions. The books he assigns in lieu of a textbook are really interesting and worth reading regardless of your major.
Lectures started out okay but by the end of the semester it got so boring. But if you don't go to lectures there's no way you'll know anything on the test because they're straight out of lectures, which is both good and bad I guess.
Max's lectures can drag on sometimes but it is important that you attend. If you don't, you need a friend in the class so that you can obtain the notes because they are not online. There are four tests along with a few recitation assignments and that is what the grade is made up of. No extra credit opportunities. Take it if you need an elective.
He is a great professor who actually likes what he does and enjoys what he teaches. Although his lectures and slides are a bit heavy at times and might be a bit boring, it will never be too overwhelming. He wants you to pass his class and is willing to work with you if something is conflicting with your work within his class and cares greatly.
Max is a chill instructor who really knows what he's talking about. Lectures can be a little boring at times but he always tries to make them interesting. Recitation is pointless but gotta go to get the attendance points. Pretty easy class overall, just pay attention during lecture, take good notes, and do the readings.
I took this class as an elective and it was a pretty decent class. You definitely need to go to class everyday because his lecture notes are not online. You also need to write down what he talks about that isn't on the slides, some of this will be on the exams. Overall he's a great and funny guy and I think he is a good teacher.
Pretty enjoyable morning course, as long as you show up and somewhat pay attention the course is nothing to worry about. Dr. Viatori gives good lectures.
He's an amazing lecturer!!! Attendance is necessary, as he doesn't post his lectures, and there is very little on the slides. However, he explains things so well that you don't have to write much more than the few words on each slide and quick blurb that he will say word-for-word. Recitation attendance is required, but it's mostly just talking.
One of my favorite professors so far! So funny and interesting. Lectures are boring and vague at times but overall a really great professor.
Max is definitely one of my favorite professors at my university. Such a great guy and very understanding for students who may have extra needs. Take his classes if you can.
I took this class as a condensed 4 week summer course and it was horrible. The professor does provide online video lectures but they are all over the place and he constantly stumbles over words. The books I enjoyed reading except for the one he wrote in which you have to write a review on. Test are very hard but most of the information is covered.
He goes on small rants a lot, he's super smart so sometimes what he said and some of the words on his tests went right over my head.
Great professor who really cares about teaching. He does go off on tangents, but lectures are interesting. Test heavy, but tests are very doable from powerpoints and readings. Reading included three books and multiple articles which I thought was a little much for an intro class. Overall, great person. I would take more courses taught by him.
Lectures are boring and really not needed. TAs are lifesavers. If you do the study guide (there are quizlets) you will be fine. The course itself was easy, but I found that I used my TA as more of a resource than Max. He really cares about his work but gets off topic a lot.
Very understanding about absences, if you participate in class and answer questions he really appreciates and considers that when grading.
This class was a a half semester class, and let me warn you to be prepared to read a lot of heavy academic papers. The professor was super understanding about this and I even emailed him saying that I was struggling to complete the quizzes on time with the work load and he extended a couple of them for me. Super nice if you reach out to him!
Viatori is a great guy and has done a lot of really cool things. When he lectures, he tends to start on a tangent pretty easily and it was pretty easy to space out. Lots of reading if you want to understand what is going on during class, but really interesting discussions.
An easy class as long as you pay attention to the lectures. I did very little studying outside of class and still made an overall A. Viatori was hard to reach during his office hour so if you have questions hope your TA is good. Viatori is funny but at times can go on tangents.
Easy A as long as you show up and pay attention to the lectures (slides are posted, but they have very little info). Lots of readings. Prof. Viatori covers a lot of interesting material, is funny & very intelligent, but his lectures sometimes can be repetitive & easily get off topic.
Easy half semester online class but you still learn things! Did not need his help so did not talk to him much, but he seemed nice from what I could see.
In the first 7 of 13 weeks I learned 3 things: 1. He went to Eh-quaw-dooooor-ehhhh. No, not Ecuador, Eh-quaw-dooooor-ehhhh 2. There is no superior or inferior culture (Includes cultures that stone women to death) 3. White culture is inferior culture Also has no spine. Will flip an opinion just like that because he agrees with "the evil orange man"
