Really great teacher, exams are based on study guide, and three easy A assignments. You can really learn in this class!
Took her over the summer, and she was great. Made a long class interesting, and really got me excited about poli sci. Would highly recommend.
easiest poli teacher. all u have to do to pass is find all the information she has listed on the study guide. everything on the study guide is on the test. just bs on the in class assignments and youll get easy points. she doesnt read them.
you HAVE to read the textbook if you want to get an A on her exams. yes, her questions are primarily based on the study guide but you have to make sure you know the facts surrounding whatever it is she wants you to know too. her lectures really don't cover too much of the study guide either,

Easy class to pass, kinda tricky to get an A. Study guides for tests so have to do memorizing and reading. Midterm on a different book and final comprehensive. 9 easy assignments you have to do for credit. Class lectures are useless and off topic, so study on your own!
she's very impersonal and not very approachable either... you have to be self sufficient in this class. overall, lectures are useless, so study on your own.. she does her best to keep the lectures interesting, but then again, they're useless.. she's not so easy either, you MUST read the text!

The class is way too easy. I hardly prepared and guessed the multiple choice exams and BS the essays and got an A.
She is a nice teacher as a person, but I wouldn't recommend her. Her lectures are useless on tests, but the study guide is helpful. Her tests include many "tricky" questions. All grading is based on the tests, no work for extra points. I don't think anyone got an A in our class.
very easy. just study the study guide thouroughly. Know it in and out. Sleep in class if you want, just know the study guide.
This is the EASIEST class I have ever taken! There's a little group work every once in a while and she practically gives you all the answers to her tests on her study guides.
The class is very boring. I dont like her. She doesnt make you feel comfortable. Its almost impossible to get an A. Gives study guides but also puts questions on test that arent even on the study guide. EVERYONE thinks they do good on the test and ends up getting a C. talking about it makes me mad
students ask for extra credit because its like impossible to get A without it.. and the answer we get is " You guys dont have time for extra credit" ... LORD HAVE MERCY
Worst professor ever. I studied for 2 hours for her exam. I thought I did well, then got a C-. The study guide is only half of the exam... the other half is stuff she makes up and expects you to know. Her lectures tell you nothing, and as long as you "read," you will do well. BOLOGNA!!!
The teacher from hell. It's way too hard to get an "A" she does not gives a's and she will not offer extra credit. Also her study guides only cover half of her test and her tests are very tricky even if you don't erase it too well you'll get it wrong. She completely sucks!
Lets just say I didnt make it threw and ended up dropping before I got an F. All she does is lecture and give extremly hard and tricky tests. I mean the review sheet is soo long and covers 3-6 chap.'s. I thought the class was soo boring and hard to follow
PhD my ass!!! She doesn't know anything. if you ask her a question, she'll give you 1 of 2 answers:either"I can't tell you the answer" or "don't over analyze the question". WHAT THE HELL? Her tests ar tricky, she doesn't explain answers; she only regurgetitates definitions from the book. Oh, and don't even think about getting an A,it's impossible!

The class sucks. The way to do good in this class is to use flash cards to define the terms on the study guide and to read all the chapters because she throws stuff in on the test that is not on the study guide. Make sure you check all your tests to make sure you missed all the ?'s. If you decide to take her you can pass if you use these tips.
Don't even think about enrolling in her class!!!! Her tests are way too hard. She isn't a very nice person. You try asking her a question and she snaps at you as if you are dumb.

She is a very hard teacher. To pass her test you must read the chapters atleast twice. The study guides she gives will only help you on half of the test.I did do well in her class;however, i taught myself all the info.

Her exams are so tough unless you read the entire book on your own and fully understand the concept of EVERYTHING which is what she expects but doesnt help with. her lectures are useless and boring. AND she treats her students like were in the first grade!! SHe is sooo unfair!!!
i cant believe her i actually thought i was doing well in the course, i studied so much for the fianl, i always knew everything on the review sheet yet i never got anything better than a C on the exams...so dont depend on her review sheets or lectures. SHE GAVE ME A D which is so unfair considering all the effort i put into the class
she is the worst teacher ever. her classes have nothing to do with what she expects you to know for the exams. dont even think about asking a question because she will treat you as though you have offened her inteligence ... maybe she did work for the government at one point but she shouldnt be a teacher.

Her class was pretty easy. All you have to do is review the study sheets that she hands out before each exam. I only put out a little effort and I ended up with a B in the class. It is very easy to pass.

She IS a tough teacher. She expects A LOT out of her students. If you want an A on the tests you can't just rely on the study sheets. Those will only get you a B. She doesn't give any extra credit so you HAVE to make sure you do your best on all your work. Although she tries to give you more hands-on experience, it's not that great.
Probably the worst teacher I've ever had at Mt.Sac. Unpleasant personality, never cracks a smile, Strict. Grade consists of 4 exams, 1 midterm, final. Recommend doing the studying guides and reading every chapter assigned. Too much boring group work.Spent all of Oct. wrk.in groups,going over ch. material. Complete waste,got nothing out of it!!
Not Recommended. First day seems like its gonna be a fun class..but as time goes on you will just hate that class more and more and more and more and more.
Terrible professor! Just horrible! Not worthy of being associated with the honors dept. Boring, strict. I was reprimanded for clicking my pen during a painfully boring movie from the 60's. Nothing we go over on class is on the tests. My first C at MSAC. A real disappointment! Just don't take her!
If you study, you do alright. If you ask her a question, she'll say, "I'm not a lawyer." Which is not helpful at all. A lot of ppl in my class did not pass, but when I actually studied I did fine.

Her lectures are long and boring,sometimes she will go over the time with her lectures. Her exams are long too. The first two exams consisted of 75 multiple choice questions. The midterm exam is based all on your 2nd textbook ch. 1-10! that exam consisted on 90 questions. Too complicating I hate it. Plus the 3 books I had to buy! )-:
Bad Prof. i cant believe how bad everyone does in her class. She first started of with 35 students, and now has 18, with atleast 5 more going to drop. If thats not enough proof that shes bad, then let me just say, shes horrible! Your grade is 3 exams 1 midterm and 1 final. thats it...and her lecture and study guids hardly cover the test..dont take
She is a bad teacher. I thought she was going to be a good one at first, but after the test started coming, her lectures didn't help at all. Neither did the study guides. You have to actually read the WHOLE chapters in order to do good which is ridiculous! I don't recommend her. a lot of people dropped this class already. studying doesn't even help

I have never dropped a class...this is one I WISHED I had dropped! I am a Phi Theta Kappa & Honors student & I couldn't manage anything higher than a B on her exams. It is almost impossible to get an A unless you have a photographic memory & can memorize the entire textbook(s). She demeans her students and is full of attitude. She is always late!
All she does is lecture. Take the notes and you'll do well on the tests. To the people before who posted she doesnt say what will be on the exams, she gives out study guides you liar! She is strict but the class itself isn't impossible. Good teacher.
If you don't know what college is really like and you want it all handed to you then don't take the class. I'll admit she was hard and it was frustrating to only get b's but i still learned alot and liked her style. College is HARD! Get over it or get out people. Keep on trucking Doc Mackey. The sight of this teacher ruins my day. I am not kidding. This class was the worst class I've taken so far. Started off with a full roster, by the end of the semester, there were like 10 of us left. two thumbs down. she'll only like you if your into politics and all that. her group activities didnt help at all. held a grudge against me just because i stepped outta class to answer a phone call one time, and we werent even doing anything. sure it was my fault but still, alot of students dont like her so take their word for it. seating charts?!? i could have swore i graduated high school. easy class. projects and multiple choice tests from reading material. study, earn an A. she does take answering phone calls during class a sign of disrespect. like i implied earlier, this is a high school type class.
She does what she can to make the boring topic of political science semi- interesting, but its still boring... Her lectures and study guides are not very relevant to what is exactly on the test so you have to study alot on the whole chapter, every detail. is kinda difficult but, its political science, dont expect something amazing from this class

This class was not helpfull at all. teacher did not help .. test were hard and based on inturpretaion. teacher was no help even after i spoke to her privately.
This teacher sucks!!! She doesn't teach, the notes she puts up are just copies from the book, and the test are hard( every single question has a choice of "all of the above") Think she is always right,if she doesn't like your opinion, she will tell you to "not speak out of turn!!". If you don't think like her, she wont like you.

She is very passionate about her subject. Sometimes you want to make her be quite. Class is easy, test multiple choice, gives study guides, does group discussion, she uses only overhead projector. She is a good professor. Higly recommened her.

Doctor Mackey was a fantastic teacher in making the course interesting. However i think she fell short in that her lectures didn't help whatsoever for the exam; going to class is not required to pass. The exams themselves are very difficult so many hours of copious studying from the textbook is needed.

I took Prof. Mackey spring 2010 and she was difficult! She is very passionate at what she does. As long as you attend her class you will be fine. It may not be an amusing class, but you do learn something. Just go by the study guide!! No homework but study early IT HELPS!
If you're not much of a reader and you simply don't have the time necessary to put all you efforts in this class I SERIOUSLY don't recommend you taking this professor. She doesn't give hw, the exams are based more on the book than on the notes.
This teacher is very hard and demanding. The tests are difficult and the overall grade is solely based off of tests. No homework, no quizzes, no extra credit, just tests. She has favorites and is very strict about attendance and cell phones. Not very approachable or friendly. Would not recommend unless you already know this subject material.

Her class is really boring. She is very strict and very hard to talk to. A lot of people dropped out of this class. Grade is based off exams, the midterm, and the final. She drops the lowest exam score. Extra credit is up to 10 points. No hw. Her study guides often help. I do not highly recommend this professor only if your willing to study hard!
