Cannot stress how amazing this prof is! I had him for personality and he was super clear about the tests, even gave hints. He is more than fair in terms of difficulty. Textbook isn't required and he screen records his lectures. He is engaging, funny, and genuinely cares for his students. Take any classes with him if you can!

MAX IS THE BEST!! I have never seen someone so passionate about teaching in my three years of universirty. he is so clear and caring. his lectures are straight forward. tests are not hard but they include everything taught as long as you pay attention in class you are set. I am going to look for other courses he is going to teach and join ASAP

Highly recommend this prof for any psych courses! He is so passionate about what he teaches and explains everything in a way that's easy for students to understand. His tests require studying for sure, but they're fair. Also he uses lecture capture, which is a great bonus.

Highly recommend taking one of his classes. He is very passionate about what he is teaching which makes for a fun lecture. He is extremely clear about what will be on tests and how to do assignments. He also uses lecture lecture capture which is huge plus since you can relisten to the lectures before tests.

I of the best professor I've taken a class with in york so far. The book for his course is optional and the tests are cumulative and tested with lecture material. Achieving a high grade is very easy in this course.

Cannot recommend him enough! The content is easy & interesting, I felt like I was actually learning. He has a very engaging personality & voice, and you can tell he has a passion for what he teaches. There are 3 cumulative tests, but nothing too difficult. Textbook is not required and recordings are available on moodle. An amazing prof overall!

Go to class, just in case he hides something outside the recordings. You won't hate the lectures though, always enjoyable. Overall, great professor and approachable after class too. I cannot recommend him more!

One of my favorites; he's very engaging with his course, and you can tell that he is passionate about what he teaches. It's very easy to understand what he is saying, and he's great with clarifying difficult concepts and terminology. Easy to get A+ if you pay attention, ask questions, and use lecture + notes to study for exams. Would recommend!

Made 8:30am class bearable. Engaging, passionate & knew what he was talking about. Taught more modern personality than Freudian. Only downside was marks given very late, when there was nothing you could do to improve your grade, especially because no clear grading criteria for assignments. Tests were MCQs, fill in blanks, matching & short answer.

Professor Barranti is fantastic! Very engaging and yes, like everyone else, made class bearable and he almost records himself and uploads it so attendance isn't mandatory. Also, we don't need the textbook! He bases all his questions mainly on lectures and slides.

There is no Textbook requirement for the class but that's because he covers everything you need to know in class (you can read the textbook if you want). There are 5 article evaluations that you can submit anytime before the end of the semester and if you need help with literally anything he's always open to help! Would definitely recommend it!!

Maxwell B, is one of the most amazing professors out there. His sense of humour makes attending lectures worth it. His lectures are easy to comprehend because he tries to give as much examples with everything he tries to explain! I can honestly say that I really enjoyed his lectures and I would 100 percent recommended him! Best of luck, sir. :D

Great prof, keeps things interesting and uses examples to make sure the students understand. He also records his lectures so its not mandatory to attend but you may as well, his lectures aren't boring. Also you don't need to buy the textbook :)

Max is one of the best profs i've ever had. He is an amazing lecturer, is engaging and funny. His tests are simple and straight forward (MC, matching, fill in the blanks and short answer). There are 5 mini writing assignments which have vague instructions but its easy to get full marks if you relate it back to lecture content.

This course is all on lectures. He uploads the lectures online after which I found really useful for going over when studying. Max is a SUPER nice but don't kid yourself, his tests are HARD. There's a LOT of memorization involved & he'll expect you to know down to the smallest detail (a random # once on a slide). Memorize those slides all the way.

He takes his own unique, fresh, and applicable approach to personality psyc. You can tell he is very passionate about what he teaches and is very hardworking. He's very energetic, engaging, and approachable. Did not buy the textbook, just went to lecture or listened to recordings. Looking forward to taking other courses with him.

Probably one of the best profs that I have had in my major. Super straight forward, and explains everything in detail in the lectures that the textbook is not even required for this course. The only profs lectures that I could binge watch without falling asleep. I took this course completely online and the prof made fun activities to help learn.

I loved this class. I hate readings so thankfully the textbook material was only optional. If you go to class and take good notes, you will get a good mark. He's also very engaging and entertaining, made getting up at 7 worth it!

Hes a great guy and very approachable. He explains concepts in a clear and interesting way. I enjoyed listening to his lectures but this course is just TOO MUCH WORK! Weekly chapter quizzes , assignments and in class activities, as if were only taking his course during the school year. Its soo tiring if youre a full-time student.

A really great prof - he's super knowledgeable and passionate about the subject, which I appreciated. The assessments in this course are just WAY overboard. The final paper is 17 pages, and there are weekly quizzes (4-5 questions) based on a ridiculous amount of text that ended up only being worth 3% each.

I may have an unpopular opinion on this course but I was actually a fan of his weekly quiz/assignment format. Some of the concepts covered in this course are hard and to have a giant midterm on chapters in the book would be way worse than just 1or2 chapters every week. As for the prof, hes very supportive to students and does a great job teaching.

Fantastic Professor! Max is caring and wants everyone to do well in his course. Lectures were great and explained concepts well. I purchased the book but I would not recommend it. Mid term/Exam are from his lectures so take good notes and you'll do well. Lastly read the syllabus and always participate in the discussions for perfect marks.

I love Max. I took psychological measurement with him and he was so supportive and helpful throughout the course. He doesnt put a lot of information on the slides which means you have to listen to him very carefully and take notes. The lectures are really interesting and he explains concepts well.

despite the recent reviews really saying that they did not like the ta's, i personally think otherwise. the way the ta's mark are directly from the rubric, you genuinely just need to follow the rubric word for word to suceed. prof maxwell is genuinely a nice person who does a really good job at explaining content. i really enjoyed the course.

Unlike previous reviews, I found Dr. Barranti very straightforward and clear with what he was looking for in terms of discussion posts, article evaluations, and exams. He was very interactive with the class and included activities that helped me understand the course material better. He was also hilarious which made the course that much better!

Although there are a lot of things the teaching team can improve such as late grading, no feedbac, I felt like max was really helpful and understanding how how students felt. His lectures were really enjoyable & the topics were great. Tests were based on lectures and if you study well, then the tests were simple.

Dr. Barranti is a great teacher who can clearly convey complex concepts in short videos and he is eager to provide feedback during office hours. The tests were tricky as they contain heavily marked short answers. Beware, TAs do not give feedback whatsoever for assignments. I suggest you rely on lectures and reach out to him if you get stuck ASAP!

He makes short and precise lecture videos that are the same for tests and exams. His zoom classes were optional. His assignments included forums and quick 1 pager assignments that are graded by a few things. I would recommend reaching out to him for feedback as soon as possible. He is clear in his explanations and wants you to succeed. Take him!

prof is great, he cares about his students and wants them to do well, the problem is the TA's, they have very unclear feedback for assignments and mark very harshly, prof however if you show up to office hours or do get to speak with him he will go step by step on how you can improve your work for next time. would take again if it werent for TAs

Hes a very genuine person. His lectures are very entertaining which is important as they are 3 hours long. He does care about you and the mark you get, and cares about your understanding as well. The TA's may have unclear feedback initially, but if you can get into a meeting with them you'll do much better. I believe its b/c they adhere to a rubric

Max is a wonderful professor. His lectures are engaging, he's supportive and patient when going over concepts during his office hours, and he has a generous extension policy. As for the comments regarding his TAs, the guidelines for assignments are extremely clear.. perhaps students should consider abiding by them before assigning blame to others.

Type of course where you have to attend lectures or else the slides won't make sense (slides r all pictures not much words). Rubrics for assignments tell you what the TAs are looking for so as long as you read them you will do great. Midterm and exam is all memorization and slightly understanding concepts.

One of the best profs I've had. One thing I loved was that there was no readings/textbook, only content for the test was what was in lecture. Lecture was also recorded. He made class enjoyable explained concepts well, kind, caring, and funny. Only downside was tests were a bit hard because they had like fill in the blanks with no word box.

Max is amazing at giving lectures and was able to keep even the 8:30 am lectures super engaging! He records lectures and posts them. The only downside is that the TAs are tough graders as they adhere to a strict rubric and the tests require you to know the information inside out. Just read the rubrics closely and fully memorize all lecture content.

Dr.Barranti's lectures are interesting in the sense that he does not over complicate the content. His PowerPoints however are pictures, so you have to pay attention to catch what he is saying. He post his lectures so its easy to note what you miss. As long as you understand and memorize the content the tests are easy and the assignments are clear.

Took Personality Psychology during COVID (2020) with professor Barranti and he was amazing. Such a kind and caring professor; he really cared about his students' success, and emphasized student learning. His evaluations were all spread out so there were many opportunities to succeed in the course and do well. Amazing, kind, and knowledgeable prof!

For an 8:30 am class, it was very engaging and had lots of breaks. Yes, the TAs can be hard markers, but Dr. Barranti is always approachable to see what he expects for future assignments. There's also lots of room for improvement. Those who did bad may not have studied at all, because exams were very fair and only based on lecture content

Great prof, made this course engaging and very easy to follow. If you attend the classes, you will be fine for the tests. Don't rely on the recordings, sometimes audio doesn't work. The professor him self was very fair and the class wasn't hard at all, the tests are easy if you just pay attention to lectures. The TA's on the other hand aren't very good and give sparse feedback, even when you email them requesting for extra feedback. An A is manageable in the course, an A+ will be extremely difficult because of TAs.

Dr. Barranti was one of the best professors I have had. He is a very skilled lecturer, different from the type of professor who only reads off the slides, so taking notes is essential. Assignments can be challenging, but they are easier than others say. I got around 90 on all three of them. Tests are also fair, with zero trick questions.

The professor is easygoing, but his lecture slides have only pictures, so take detailed notes. The course includes 3 article evaluations (10% each) 3 discussion boards (20%) and two exams (25%). However, the TAs are uncommunicative, making it hard to get feedback on assignments but they are easy overall.

Basically 2 in person test, 2 assignments, 2 discussion post, and online lecture. the assignments were easy clear grading rubric, possible to get full marks and both assignments and discussion post. If you actually watch /take notes of the lecture u will pass the exams. dont just read someone else notes- u have to do it urself.

Prof Baranti is in my top 5, fav profs. his lectures are engaging, and very straightforward. honestly he doesn't give us too much work. We had 2 assignments, 2 discussion threads and 2 exams. you have to go to lecture or at least watch the recordings because he doesn't have an explanation on the slides, but he does record so you can watch it back

Prof Barranti is one of the coolest professors here. His lectures are interesting and to the point. However, the TAs are bad. They provide vague feedback, rarely respond to emails, and grade very strictly. The assignments feel more like a writing test than a test of your knowledge. The tests are easy, but they have a heavy writing portion.

A few things: 1) Some upper-year classes require this course, so check ahead and see if any classes you plan to take have this as a prerequisite. 2) No textbook, but the catch is that the class slides are super vague, and you are meant to catch what he is explaining when taking notes; he records lectures. 3) TA's mark hard.

i took barranti previously in personality and got an A. i figured i could take a class with him again for measurement and was pleasantly surprised by his teaching strategy.
