Awful stuff. I got a 72 on the first exam, stopped attending class and got a 92 on the final, so that should say something. She is rude and teaches her students like high school freshmen. She doesn't write her own exams and knows very little about what is on them. AVOID.

Fun personality if you're on her good side. Otherwise, forget it. In terms of teaching. She doesn't. Or at least not in this class. We taught ourselves. She is an extremely biased grader.

While the subject matter is easy enough, she is a terrible teacher. She may be funny and involving at times but her test/quiz questions are confusing, misleading, and ridiculous. Studying the testing matter per vadem barely even helps. It seems to me also that her own personal bias comes through in her lectures despite her subject.

I emailed her about an assignment that i put into her hand, and all she could say was that she couldnt do anything about the 0 i have for "not turning in the assignment". she doesnt speak very good english, and tries to trick you on tests and will not curve the grades at all. good luck

Avoid at all cost, if you must expose yourself to professor Topoushian then I recommend finding a discreet method for occupying your time during her horrendously boring lectures in which attendance is mandatory yet in no way do lectures cover material necessary for exams (required text reading) a lousy teacher who expects a lot, no good!

I don't wear my seat belt when I drive to to school because I'm hoping I'll die before I get to this class.

She's just plain awful. It was the first time she had ever taught this course and she didn't any effort into lectures. She didn't even lecture. She made us make powerpoints & teach the class. Dreadfully boring & she's rude to students that speak in class. She needs to get off her high horse. No point of going to class, stuff isn't even on the test.

Laziest professor I've ever seen. The students taught the class. The assignments were easy , every class was a power point by a pair of students. She never taught the class just sat in the back and watched. She is completely unorganized and again lazy even with grading. If you have high expectations for this course leave it at the door. easy A!

She makes the class so much harder than it's suppose to be. Assigns assignments that have to be 2-3 pages long, due every sunday. This is suppose to be an easy elective, instead it's hard.

I went to this class so I can learn something, but I learn nothing. All we do is do presentation and she sits and watches it because she can find the mistakes. Please don't take this class that's what I recommend.

Worst class Ive ever taken. She speaks to the students like children. She is much nicer and lenient with the Middle Eastern students. When you try to talk to her she is unhelpful and doesn't listen. She talks over you as you're trying to explain yourself. Class is unorganized and basically taught by student presentations. Her study guide is no help

Her classes were not helpful at all and I found her English very difficult to understand, there were often errors on the slides and assignments as well as emails (which she would not respond to) she was very rude and unpleasant and forced us to use the Lockdown browser. I would advise everyone to steer clear of her class.

This was the absolute worst professor I have ever had. She is difficult to understand (thick accent and talks around the subject wo making a clear point), she forgets what day she planned quizzes, the quizzes were not related to the lectures, she would tell you to do an assignment then change her mind after you've already completed it, etc. AWFUL!

It does not even matter if you go to class because she doesn't teach anything just rambles on about herself. Tests are unbelievably hard if you took this course with a different professor you would get a better grade. Also assigns ridiculous homework.

This professor is extremely condescending and unhelpful. Assigns a crazy amount of work for an 100 level class, and will reject submitted assignments for preposterous reasons and refuse to discuss it. Do not take this class

She isn't a good teacher, and she is quite rude.

She completely undermines her syllabus and at times seems malicious. She got fed up with the lack of attendance so enforced a policy only announced in class, no e-mail or revised syllabus, where the tests became all online, opposed to in class. You need a password to access the test which she only will give out in class. She did this out of spite.

She won't e-mail you back. I've e-mailed this professor five times and never has she answered. I missed her class due to a hospital visit and asked what I missed, she refused to talk to me unless I showed her my discharge papers. Show her papers with my social security, blood type, medical history? Yeah, not happening, that's illegal/unethical.

I took this as a 3 week summer class. She expects a lot out of you. Be prepared to write 2-3 essays at least every single week, along with a quiz each week and half way through, a midterm. Her tests are very difficult. You don't actually need the textbook though she makes you feel like you do. She also takes forever to post your assignments.

Took this class 3 times failed it all 3 times, because I had issues and she never passed excused me from any of it. She can't speak english so i don't know why she's even teaching in the first place. Goes off track of the topic often. Rather listen to my parents nagging me for 10 hours straight than hear her voice one more time.

FAVORITISM! Have to act like you like her. Honesty will get you an F. Attendance will count but don't matter if you participate if she doesn't know your name it's a 0 on participation grade for you. For a 400 level class, she will expect you to write a 5-page essay in an hour. Didn't learn anything in class, just talk. she goes off topic a lot.

CONFUSION! She is so disorganized! She can't even keep up with the assignments she asks us to do. An assignment may say it requires 1000 words but when you open the blackboard link to submit it you may find a whole different set of instructions. She spent a whole class trying to edit blackboard because she couldn't even understand what she posted.

Least favorite class this semester. She is educated and knowledgable, but sometimes gets caught up in this as she rambles for as many as 30 minutes at a time on random stuff- b/c of this we often don't get through the week's material and are still tested on it. Weekly quizzes are very random and not on material learned/lectured. Very frustrating.

Barely teaches, and prefers to discuss social justice topics over the curriculum. Quizzes don't follow the lecture material, instead asks about tedious details from the chapter in the book.

Awful. She makes us use Respondus Lockdown Browser. Fine. It's to prevent cheating. However on the last quiz and map quiz, she makes them "available" outside of class. No password needed. However turns out they weren't accessible after a certain limit and the textbook quiz was locked with a password. Doesn't give us a chance to do it. No make ups.

Talks for 20 minutes at the start of every class and wonders why we never finish chapters. you will always get an 80% on those chapter quizzes, But a lot of extra credit so it doesn't matter. Impressed how someone can talk for 50 minutes so much but convey such little info. Overall, terrible rude teacher but the class is slight if you study

UGHHH. I did not have a choice with this gen-ed. I should've dropped while I had the chance. You MUST read the textbook, her lectures are on material that has no relation to the quizzes. She is confusing, unorganized, and rude. She gives a couple extra credit opportunities which is helpful, but I still struggled so much to get a passing grade.

Topoushian will make you feel like an idiot for asking a simple question. Want to share an opinion? She will argue with you until you give up. At the beginning of the course, she raved about how interesting the material is. Maybe she's right, but not with her. All you need is quizlet and a person in class to give you the tophat code to pass.

Horrible teacher. Imperious, and just horrible at teaching. Even students only like her because her class is easy. Absolutely pathetic. She expects respect she doesn't deserve and hasn't even earned. She expects people to call her "doctor" because she has a piece of paper that says she's a PHony Doctor in Mass Communications. Lol!! She's so petty.

She is by far the worst professor I have ever had. Period. Her lectures are random and don't go along with what's on the exams. She is unforgiving if there is a problem with TopHat (the attendance app) which always marks me absent when I'm there. She is VERY rude over email and in my opinion, shouldn't have ever qualified to be a professor at all.

I don't recommend her. She goes off topic constantly during lectures, and the powerpoints she uses don't have much useful information on them. She cares about the topic, but acts as though you know nothing about it yourself. She's very condescending in my opinion. Don't bother with the book, you can find quiz answers online and save money.

Does not make anything clear, gives NO feedback on your work. I caught her lying about reading my paper after receiving a low grade she said: "I did not read it, I Just gave an obligatory grade." Do NOT take this professor. Very selfish and self-centered too.

I unfortunately had to take this "teacher" again for a required class. She gives me an F for an assignment because of self plagiarism for an assignment exactly the same from INTL 101. While she just regurgitates the same garbage from INTL 101 in this class; giving quizzes and tests that are available online,and the same essay from her other classes

Arrogant professor. Not a good teacher. She regurgitates stuff from PowerPoint like a robot. Not very knowledgeable. Also, she ignores emails purposely.

I took this as an online class and it was very difficult. The professor doesn't teach at all (no lectures) and you have to rely on the textbook, almost 100 pages a day when the class is already shortened. Lots of writing but that's fine. The exams are hard bc you don't know what to expect, even with the study guide. This class was very frustrating

She was more of a bot than a professor. The quizes which made up most of our grade had absoluting nothing to do with any of the things she told us to watch or read, it was all random things pulled from the textbook. Not even definitions, just random facts from random paragraphs were all the questions. The 'study guides' did not help at all.

Not a good online class. There is no teaching, we are told to read the textbook, aimlessly look at websites, and watch random videos. The quiz questions don't test if you've understood the information, it is just very specific questions. The tests are the same, but longer. My grade got bad, and after reaching out to ask about it twice, I withdrew.

Please avoid this professor in general. She is not easy to work with and makes the class much more difficult than it needs to be for a 100 level course. Take this class with any other professor if you can, please! You dont learn anything in here, but take a weekly quiz thats T or F based off a specific statement somewhere in the textbook.

Screws you over on small technicalities for projects, it dropped my grade heavily because she was unreasonable.

7 discussion boards based on TedTalks. 4 "blog posts" that were graded harshly like formal essays. Only 1 week to work on group project. She never taught ANYTHING. She took off points for incorrect grammar even when it was correct. Final exam had nothing to do with anything found in the textbook--questions ALL came from Quizlets (copied verbatim).

Do not take her. Tests are way too specific and detailed for a 100 level class. Questions are based off random facts in the textbook. Highly do not recommend.

Pro: The material is easy enough to understand and certainly broadens your perspective of the world. Con: It does not matter if you have a solid understanding of the material. If you cant remember random facts or statistics from the book, articles, or videos, youre in trouble.

I am taking this asynchronously. If you are trying to get in touch with her, good luck. If you miss an assignment, you will not get the chance to turn it in late. I've already taken my senior capstone and this class has been harder than that was. Completely unnecessary expectations for a 100 level class. Avoid if at all possible.

This is a 100 level class, yet she gives more work and grades harder than my other upper level professors. I have already taken senior seminar and am very knowledgeable about international studies, but her quizzes and exams are not easy at all.

A lot of the time it felt like Professor Topoushian was learning the material with the class, reading off slides and answering general questions with specific, and honestly not useful, information directly from the current slide. The quizzes are overly specific and pointless and the final group project is unnecessary. Its hard, just frustrating

Wasn't very responsive to questions asked, and overall a bit rude. Coursework was easy enough, but most was TA graded and she wasn't always clear with directions. Chapter quizzes, two attempts, no textbook but all questions were textbook quote specific. Overall an easy class, but take it with someone else

Not good at responding to emails. Just reads of the powerpoint. I don't think I learned anything at all this semester.

Professor is extremely unresponsive. Poor communication skills. This was very unhelpful as myself and other students had important questions that failed to be answered and we were left to figure things out on our own. Quizzes and tests are straight from the text but not in a good way. They would be on very specific quotes from chapters that are almost impossible to remember. Not helpful at all and very selfish. I asked her for help using a program that I had never used before (and that she required) and she told me to "figure it out." Would not recommend.

I did not like taking this course with her. She is very inconsiderate and hard to reach when having problems. She has no room for making up work, no matter the circumstances. She overall did not teach the course well or handle grading or makeup work correctly. take this course with someone else if you can.

This class was disappointing. Whether you study or not, the tests focus on recalling insignificant details from the textbook. Professor Topoushian relies solely on textbook content and lengthy videos on YouTube in place of lectures. This professor was little to no help when confused about projects. This class was made incredibly difficult for no reason. Tests and quizzes did not test your understanding of the class material but how well you remember tiny details from the textbook. Would not take this class as she is one of those online professors who don't do anything. Lectures are from recorded classes years ago. Offer extra credit that was only worth 1% of your grade. Doesn't not accept late work at all

If you're thinking about taking this class, do yourself a favor and don't or honestly, avoid any class with this professor, period. She's an extremely tough grader and not the understanding type at all. I worked so hard all semester, completed every assignment, even followed up constantly, and was still met with no flexibility or empathy.

This is the worst course I have ever taken. She doesn't even give hints on what to study for the exams and quizzes. There are weekly quizzes every Monday that are incredibly hard to study for because the questions are on topic vaguely covered within the chapter. The exams are even worse and everything is on a lockdown browser with the camera on.

Exams and quizzes were mostly just questions that were based on one sentence throughout the entire chapter of the textbook. Random government websites were also provided as "resources" but no guidance as to what we were looking for on these websites. Discussion posts gave a little more guidance but the resources given were still very little help.

a joke of a class (everything is transplanted from the work of a previous, good professor) but the readings are incredible! absolute essentials for anyone interested in history, polisci, or philosophy. the lectures are so bad. twice she just read, word-for-word, the google ai-generated summary of a topic.
