She is a great teacher. I had her for Psych 10 statistics, and even though the material was difficult, I think she did a great job.
She was a great professor as long as you went to lecture and paid attention and read the chapter you'll do GREAT in the class =) BEST STAT PROF!
She was definitely a great professor! You should attend lectures every time you have them and pay attention! It will save you on the exams :)
Lecturer Altman is an amazingly brilliant and entertaining teacher! Don't think I'll ever be able to shake my crush on her though! :P
Extreme Awesomeness
she was an awesome teacher and made psychology a lot of fun! I loved her!
She was a little annoying at 8pm since she's really bubbly but other than that, no complaints. She doesn't post the full slides online so I highly recommend attending lectures. They're beneficial to your learning. If you pay attention and study hard, you'll do fine! It's not that hard.
The material is very easy, you must attend class because she sometimes give attendance points which can be used to boost up your grade at the end semester. She is a very fun loving person, all I did was attend class, turn in my homework, and smile and she loved me!
You must attend lectures to get a good grade, she gives lots of easter eggs to put on the exam, gives a great study guide lecture and releases practice questions for the exam. Very helpful and nice!
A really good and fun professor in my opinion. Definitely attend class as she uses material in the lecture in her exams.
This teacher was excellent. She was very clear and had my attention the whole time. Her tests are not hard. They are what you should expect from a test. Just study or pay attention in class and you should do fine.
Really good teacher makes learning fun and interesting. not boring at all makes me want to pay attention
shes really easy to understand and keeps the class interesting. her exams are all fairly easy.
Meaghan is fun! Her tests are fair, provided that you have studied. Her lectures are captivating, she has a sense of humor in class, and one of the assigned textbooks is a coloring book to help you learn brain regions.
She is a fair funny badass and she will notice if you are paying attention. This will matter TONS if you are between grades. Go to every class and do your work and you'll be fine. The difficulty of her classes depends on the nature of the subject as does her enthusiasm. Your best experience will be in a course related to morality-her main interest.
She has a tendency to make an interesting topic extremely boring. She tries to be funny but fails miserably, and when attending office hours she isn't all that helpful. I would recommend avoiding this teacher.
She is so chipper in the morning. She is informative. Nice. Comprehensibly covers info. The reason I get up on Tuesdays & Thursdays
I loved this class and I didn't expect to. She makes it fun and interesting. Some didn't get her humor but I found her very funny. Exams are difficult but as long as you study you should do fine. Also note that this is a topic of her interest so she knows what she's talking about, I'll definitely take her again!
Teacher was VERY knowledgeable. The course was interesting. I had a GREAT time learning the material. Teacher enjoyed lecturing and that helped motivate me, even at 7:30 in the morning. LOVE DR. ALTMAN!
I liked the instructor's methods of teaching. Her pwr pts were great for notes. I enjoyed coming to class every day even though it was early. The instructor made learning FUN!
I like how enthusiastic the instructor is about this course, it makes it very interesting to go to lecture.
Even though her class was super early her enthusiasm wakes you up! her class is super interesting! technically No homework but 4 Tests, and good amounts of extra credit.
She is very helpful and clear. You learn so much from her class and she is very motivated and nice. She teaches this class in the morning so it's hard to wake people up but she does it with her enthusiasm. Her test are very fair and she only tests you on the things she has had a lecture on.
I really enjoyed Altman. She's down to earth and funny, making the class interesting even though its so early in the morning. She's a fair teacher, so the amount of attention you pay in class as well as the amount of studying you do is what you get as a grade. I would definitely recommend her!
Although it was super early, Altman's class was easy and fun. i enjoyed her in class participation examples. and she gives the kids who come to class a better chance to do better on the exam.
Great Professor. Although attendance isn't mandatory. she made worth while to get up and go lecture, even if it was early in the morning. No homework, and to do well on the tests all you have to do is read the chapters in the book or review her power points.
Dr. Altman is very passionate about what she teaches and always has interesting anecdotes to tell that is relevant to the topic of discussion. She answers all questions clearly and give clear and concise clarifications. She keeps the class interesting even though some topics aren't as interesting.
The instructors enthusiasm was crucial for making this class fun at 8:30am. The course was also very interesting as it combined the aspects of psychology and biology well. I have taken many cogs and psych courses, as well as neurobiology, but it really was this class that helped me understand the structures of the brain and their functions.
I had a difficult time in PSY 1 with her. Nothing went through my head. I worked so hard for a C. She's either someone you love or hate, for me I hated the teaching style. I know many people who love her style of teaching so just depends on you. GO TO CLASS!!
If you have the philosophy that Cs get degrees then you probably want to avoid this professor. BUT if you are ok actually doing the work AND coming to class, she is one of the BEST professors at UCM. Her lectures are fascinating, she's pretty funny, and although she's tough, she's fair.
Altman is hands down the best professor I've had at UCM. I actively look to see if I can enroll in whatever classes she's teaching. She makes learning fun and really interesting. Her exams are difficult usually but if you're good at studying and asking questions, it's not too bad.
I love Professor Altman! She is a great instructor and I really enjoy taking her classes. I learned a lot from this class just as I have in her previous one. She never disappoints me, and overall this course was awesome
I'm a psychology major, and I thought her lectures were very informative and it was great to see the perfect balance between learning and engagement she commanded with her class. Whenever she called for volunteers, the sea of hands roiled and battled for her awesome demonstrations.
Dr. Altman has to be one of the best professors I've had. She is so engaging and made my 7:30AM class something to look forward to.
Love Dr. Altman. She is energetic in her delivery of lectures and you can tell she knows this topic in depth. Altman is truly interested in her students learning and enjoying the material. She is always willing to meet outside of class to discuss ideas.
Morning classes are not as bad if they are with Altman. She keeps the material interesting and engaging. Uses TopHat for attendance and quizzes. Exams are almost entirely on lectures that she posts partial versions of the morning before class. If you want all the information, you NEED to go to class and fill in the blanks. She's "tough, but fair."
I seriously love Dr Altman, but I must admit her test which are all based off her lectures are extremely hard. However, she's always available and willing to help, just don't expect her to give you the answer, you actually have to work for it, but she will explain the material a million times if you ask her to.
Professor Altman is an amazing professor! She makes getting up early in the morning enjoyable. She's always happy and in a good mood, despite the fact that the class is so early. She's passionate about her teaching and you can tell she loves Psychology. I look forward to taking any upper-division Psychology courses she might teach in the future
Makes a 7:30 class bearable. She's a very animated teacher who explains the material clearly and in an interesting way. Her tests are very straightforward and she'll usually tell you what exactly is on the test. Just pay attention in class, go to her office hours if needed and review the dense Intro to Psych material and you'll be able to get an A.
Lecturer Altman is still an amazingly brilliant and entertaining teacher! Yes I was right! :-D
She is AWESOME, I highly recommend her class. Just know that the tests are pretty difficult for an entry level course
7:30AM class but Altman makes lectures really interesting!! Complete the "incomplete" slides she posts (by going to class) & study those in order to do well on exams (DO IT!) Buy the coloring book & study pages assigned (even little details) b/c they're easy points (exact picture). Go to class for hints on exam. Pop quizzes & attendance are fair.
This lass consists of 3 midterms and a final. It also requires you to recieve 3 SONA Credits to make your grade. A good teacher but since I had it at 7:30am to 9:30am, it was hard to remember what we were doing in class later on the day. You have to review your notes much as possoble. The tests are tough but you should study 4 days before an exam.
I had Altman's 2 hour lecture at 7:30 am. At the beginning of the year, I attended all the lectures and learned from her without having to study. However, I ended up sleeping in through most of the lectures. I studied from the psych book(5th ed Nairne) and still did well in the class. She's an AMAZING lecturer, but if you know how to cram, you can.
Great instructor, can change her mind a few times, but she she gives allot of extra credit. By the end of the semester she always tries to help students with bumping up their grades.
From the first day, I really admired Altman's enthusiasm and passion to teach. When she's up on the stage every Tuesday/Thursday at 7:30AM she is awake, unlike the most of us haha. She was really passionate about teaching and psychology. I found it very inspirational. I am undeclared right now, but am considering psychology as a major.
She was a good teacher. Very enthusiastic. 7:30 am classes were not so fun, but she was a fun teacher. I remember she made someone fall in class lol At the end she uses your attendance to help your grade if you're borderline so I recommend going.
She explains everything very clearly, is patient with the slides so that everyone can keep up and no one feels left behind. She makes sure everyone understands the concepts before moving on. She is approachable and students can feel comfortable asking her questions and participating in class. Incredible professor.
I had a morning class with her and it wasn't one of my most pleasant experiences. Some days she would be happy and other days she would snap at you. Sometimes she'd fly through certain material and she wouldn't allow you to take a picture of the slide, even if it had important information for the test. Her tests are hard but she has easter eggs.
She is very enthusiastic, has a lot of energy, and tries to keep lectures interesting. Uses tophat for quizzes and attendance. Only had 3 journal clubs (1-2 page writeups on articles) and 3 exams. Exams are kind of tough but fair. Go to lectures to jot down her powerpoint notes (she will not post slides).
Professor Altman is really passionate about teaching us everything that she covers. Seeing her so into the lectures makes it much more interested and motivated to want to learn and understand exactly what she means. Which is very helpful because most of what we learn is pretty difficult.
Awesome professor. I took her PSY 180 class over the summer and I can say that she is the best professor for psychology at UC MERCED. I also took her PSY 001 class as well and she makes the class very learnable for the average person. She offers videos and amazing class PowerPoint lectures. You do not need the book for any of her classes. Enjoy!
Professor Altman is a great teacher, shes tough but makes learning interesting. I have taken two of her classes and love her teaching style. Ive noticed that you do have to read the textbook and attend lectures so if you are looking for an easy A, dont take her. If you actually want to learn then take one of her classes.
This was my first time taking her class and I heard she was hard, but she's not. She's passionate about the class and slides are clear and to the point. Just study the slides and you will pass. Go to class because she doesn't post the slides. There was 3 midterms, in class questions she calls minute questions that are relatively easy. Also gives EC
I took psych 01 with her last semester and it was such a great class. Even though the class was at 7:30am, she grabs your attention one way or another. If you do everything thats in your power to better your grade, she will pump your grade up. TRUST!
Best Professor, that I've had so far. Ask questions take notes. Esay A
It was because of her enthusiasm that I was very motivated to not be an "empty seat" and attend class at 7:30 in the morning. Her stories and the way she presented the material was also very engaging and I truly learned a lot. I became very interested in psychology because of my instructor which lead me to declare a minor in psychology.
AMAZING LECTURES. I had class 7:30am and Altman made me love waking up early to come to class because her lectures are so exciting and enjoyable! The way she taught made me love to learn every morning in class. This prof is the reason I chose to minor in Psych! 10/10 recommend her for any class. She gives "easter eggs" aka extra credit which helps
I really liked Altman because her energy and enthusiasm keeps you interested and listening. She sums everything important in her lecture slides and doesn't make you read up on extra info. Altman also gives a lot of clues as to what will be on midterms and extra credit chances. So long as you go to her lectures and take good notes, it'll be easy.
She's so energetic and nice
Professor Altman is such an incredible professor! Her enthusiasm and passion for psychology is so contagious! I love her lectures as she makes them very interesting and clearly and thoroughly explains the material. I had her for a 7:30 a.m. class which was super early for me, but she makes it worth it! Tests are not very difficult; do extra credit!
I love Professor Altman!! She gives the best lectures and makes it easy to come to class at 7:30 am. She is so engaging with her students and genuinely wants us to pass her class. If you study for class, you will easily pass her exams. She also gives a decent amount of extra credit. Would 10/10 recommend to any college student!
Awesome teacher! Altman makes her class interesting, especially a 7:30 AM class. 4 test in total (3 midterms and 1 cumulative final). The midterms are doable if you study and understand the concepts. The book isn't needed however if you still want to learn more about psychology, feel free to dive into the book. Overall, an awesome and cool teacher.
Professor Altman has the most spontaneous personality and makes the 7:30 AM class a breeze! Its so interesting the way she teaches in lecture and she makes everything fun. Just be on her good side and she'll work with you. The exams are hard and do extra credit.
you kind of have to go to lectures for extra credit sometimes and for attendance. I only read the book and got a B. But I'm not a psych major so this class was not really valued to me. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT
AAA-MAZING class. She's tough but fair, she's funny but clear, LOVELOVELOVE this class - get up on time, come to class, participate- and you WILL LEARN!!!
Midterms are tough. Wouldn't take her again.
This course was intriguing and the professor was always upbeat and active despite it being 7:30 AM, I was excited to go to class; the subject matter was captivating, and the book wasn't a chore to read. Very easy to follow, and the professor was always willing and able to give more than one explanation for the harder concepts.
I loved how much enthusiasm Altman. I have never had a professor who actually wanted to come in at 7:30am everyday to teach us something and have so much passion. Her passion made me come to class everyday because I felt like I was learning so much and actually enjoyed learning these things. I wish all my classes were this
makes a 7am worth it
Took her for a 7:30AM class and thought I'd hate it, but she makes class fun and interesting. Tests are based off of lecture, so it's best to be there because she tosses in a few Easter egg questions that you'll only know if you were in class. Didn't use the book at all and managed to get As on all 4 exams. Do the extra credit!!
Very hard class. Material is very complex. Homework assignments are very confusing. Very tough grader.
you will learn about the visual system, eye, and brain, and art--some things are complicated but she will explain things over and over until they are clear. Lectures were really interesting, tests were tough but they were fair, plenty of xtra credit, and I learned stuff that i actually wanted to talk about outside of class with other people
Hands down one of the BEST lecturers at UCM. Full of passion and enthusiasm, which makes her early morning class worth it. Class consists of 3 midterm exams, 1 final exam, and in-lecture quizzes. Exams can be tough, but Dr. Altman is more than willing to clarify confusion. Extra credit offered. Don't buy the book! Her slides are enough to do well.
I absolutely loved having Professor Altman! She made getting up at 7:30am worth it! She's super nice and energetic! Her tests are easy especially if you go to her office hours to get help. Definitely go to the test review lectures!
Professor Altman is an amazing professor! She is incredibly knowledgable in her field. She will make the class laugh and wakeup for the day. The book and attendance is optional, but I recommend attending class because it's a real treat and helps on tests tremendously (Easter eggs). She is very approachable and will try and learn your name.
This was a really cool class. Discussing the visual system and art from the renaissance and impressionism through Pixar and lord of the rings. 4 tests and some homework essay questions- usually related to what you just talked about in class. Go to class and ask questions when you don't understand and you'll be fine
She reminds the class to ask her questions if confused about material. If you can't make her office hours, she is willing to schedule another time. The lectures are interesting, but build upon previous material, so study well and pay attention. HW is writing your own exam questions. I highly recommend forming a study group for this class.
Professor Altman demonstrates exceptional teaching as a professor who teaches early hours. She ensures you understand the material as it can get very dense at times. Her exams are fair and easy if you review your notes and attend lectures.
She does go over a lot of material during her lessons. You definitely need to study for her tests if you want to pass.
If you come to class, listen, and study you can pass this class. She makes everything so easy to understand and is very well versed in the subject. You have to come to class to understand the material, though. The book assignments help a lot but aren't required. Her tests are hard, but if you study well for them they aren't too bad. Extra credit!

I thought I liked psychology but then I took this class. Altman can have some entertaining lectures but she fails to be clear and specific on what will be on exams. The online book we had to buy was a waste of money if I'm being honest. You will need to study a whole lot, and try to attend all classes because she will give Easter egg questions!
Great class, she really likes the visual system! Sometimes it is easy to get lost- the eye is complicated. But she really cares that you learn it and will answer questions as many times as you need her to in order to make sure you get it.
If you are an incoming freshman and like Psychology, I highly recommend not to take this class. This class will make you hate your life for a while, Lectures are actually funny but there's no way to study for the test. The entire time there's no goal and you gotta kiss ass to pass. Thank you for coming to my TED TALK.
Class is awesome- even though its super early. During lecture she tells you exactly what is going to be on the exam. Quiz questions are exactly like the test and she discusses them with the class and tells you how to use the questions to study. The class before the exam she has a review and answers anything you ask about. Makes it easy 5 stars.
Dr. Altman is an amazing professor. Honestly, having this class at 7:30 am was pretty hard, but Dr. Altman's enthusiasm was incredibly motivating. Her passion for psychology was refreshing. She always made me laugh and connected the material to real life situations. Additionally, she gave us tips on how to study.
The fact that you didnt need to read the book to pass the class
She is not approachable for office hours. All her exams are scenario-based questions if you want to pass this class I'll recommend going to PALS. This class is a lot of studying and memorization. I thought i loved psychology but after I took her intro class I did not like it.
Altman is one of the worst professors. I tried asking her questions after the lecture and she would give me attitude. Study hard for her exams because they are complicated.
Altman is awesome. She is funny and makes it worth it to go to class. She will tell you everything that will be on the exam and explain things as many times as you need her to. If you pay attention and work- this class is an easy A. - Really only people who don't do well are students who don't care or don't go to class.
Everyone should take her class. She's hyper-enthusiastic about the material even at 7:30am. She offers extra credit frequently and she makes learning fun through demonstrations and Easter eggs that appear on the exam from memorable moments in the lecture. Super nice!
Dr. Altman is an amazing professor. Honestly, having this class at 7:30 am was pretty hard, but Dr. Altman's enthusiasm was incredibly motivating. Her passion for psychology was refreshing. She always made me laugh and connected the material to real life situations.
She tricked me. I took her Psy 001 class and thought it was fun. But DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT take her upper divs . She is super vague on assignments and what she wants and gives irrelevant assignments. She is extremely rude if you point out mistakes she has made and WILL NOT admit to making these mistakes. Lectures are interesting but shes unfair.
At first I thought she was a kind and helpful teacher but was I wrong. She is very rude when answering student's question and has an uptight personality but claims she is so generous. She also grades easy little assignments as if they are research papers. Not the worst professor I had but not the best either.
This is one of the best courses I have ever been enrolled in during my time at UC Merced. I learned a lot about evolutionary psychology. in fact I have wanted to learn more about this field of research. Prof is awesome too.
I am not sure what was going on with the comments below. Altman is fair and explains her grading clearly. She's funny and interesting, gave out practice quizzes (that appear on the exam later) and explained what material was going to be on the test during lecture. don't listen to people who didn't come to class all semester- this class 15/10
The quizzes and Top Hat was skeptical at first, but it's worth it. If you just go to class it will keep your grade up. That mean's there will always be a grade as long as you come to class. It also prepares you for exams and tests, so you'll always do good. Good variety in lectures too so it feels engaging, it has it's charms and its exciting
Professor Altman is a bubbly and funny person which doesn't make the lectures feel long and boring. I wouldn't complain about going to the lectures; not only was the class very educational but it was also entertaining. I recommend studying a lot since there is a lot of material and information that is included in exams.
She gave really good lectures. She was very welcoming for questions & wanted you to pass her class. Very funny too
Altman was great at the beginning of the semester, she would not make it mandatory to go to her class. But with Covid and the pandemic she really doesn't understand that students go through a lot. At the end of the semester, if you want to talk about your grade just don't, she claims to say that you are just persuadin the teacher. Good luck
Not sure about the comment below- but she has BENT OVER BACKWARDS FOR her students this semester. She gave extra credit almost every week, she dropped chapters and lectures and like 60% of the class got an A this semester. AMAZING prof. Don't listen to the haters - they didn't do the work.
Best UC zoom class ever
I personally have taken 2 courses with Professor Altman and am looking forward to taking yet another course with her this spring semester. She is super clear in her explanations and extremely organized through catcourses. From my experience in PSY180 we met once a week and talked about that weeks lecture but this course was mainly asynchronous.
She's super nice and understanding if you approach her with questions. She doesn't use +/- when submitting her midterm/final grades. I took her class during Fall 2020 and she was great in teaching via Zoom, her class was asynchronous with weekly quizzes, spontaneous extra credit opportunities, and she uses Lockdown for her quizzes/exams.
She has been my favorite professor throughout college. I have taken Psy 01, Psy 181 and currently taking Psy 161 with her. Her lectures are really interesting and she grades fairly! She does have a textbook, but I have not gotten it any of my semesters and still passed with an A. Her lectures are information heavy but if you study, you can do well!
Dr. Altman is hands-down my favorite professor I had at UCM by far. I took PSY001 with her my second semester of my first year & she inspired me to minor in Psychology. Shes clearly passionate about what she does & she genuinely cares deeply about her students success and wellbeing. Shes super accessible outside of class. I highly recommend her!
So nice and understanding really fun to have as a professor. The whole class was really straightforward notes have all the information you need Ive taken her classes both in person and online and each great offers extra credit and makes sure students understand easy to talk to and ask questions
Professor Altman was a great person but not so great professor. Tests were extremely detailed and confusing and often times not spelt out in lectures or in the textbook. There also is a Kritik portion of the class where your peers grade you and often times there was conflicting opinions. Would not recommend to take this class if you dont have to.
Even though this course had topics that were difficult to understand and learn, I believe Professor Altman did a wonderful job teaching. She is eccentric, excited, energetic, and has obvious enthusiasm during class. The course was very unique, I have learnt a lot from her and has also kept me engaged and ready for more.
Professor Altman is a great professor. She was always open for questions and is happy to be in class. We knew what was expected and exams can be really hard but study and you will be fine. The teachers' approach to the class, made it fun and interesting.
Very great professor! She is engaging, funny, informative, and professional.
The classes are fairly big in size but Professor Altman is able to keep everyone engaged through her commentary and videos. The only downside is that the textbook is online so you would have to pay full price. Grading is based on in-class practice questions and tests. There was a total of 3 tests which are fairly easy if you pay attention.
Honestly one of the most engaging professors here. She makes the lectures fun and really breaks down the content, so it's easy to understand for everyone. Get ready to do some textbook reading and questions, but it's not too hard. She offers a lot of extra credit opportunities if you participate in her demonstrates, so be sure to volunteer!
We had lectures twice a week and she isn't the type to read off of the slides and wasn't boring at all. We had 3 tests which included the final which wasn't cumulative. The only homework we had was due the day before each exam on tophat and was really easy questions. Does in class questions as participation points and tends to give answers.
Attend her lectures to understand the material and receive any hints or easter eggs she gives out. The textbook was an interactive online book that's similar to her lectures, but with more detail. Tests have situational questions, but there are quizlets you can find to help you study. She's vague at answering questions so ask the TA. Study hard :)
I thoroughly enjoyed this course by Professor Altman. She is bubbly and enthusiastic about Psychology which influenced me to be interested in the course as well. Her slides are well organized and most information came from her, not the slides which I believe aided in the amount of attention I should have for the class.
Professor Altman truly cares the topic and her students. She jokes around with us despite it being early in the morning, and cares about students' welfare. I'm surprised that she remembers my name and I really appreciate her. When professors know their student's names individually, it means that they take the time to know people in the class.
I loved this class and this professor. She is amazing. She made learning fun and she is so caring and understanding. Seriously, take her. Dont miss out. Shes amazing. She uses videos, doesnt give out hw. Literally goes over questions thats on mid terms in class. Show up and pay attention and youll have fun.
Although she's nice, her summer course was bad. She was traveling during it so she left us prerecorded lectures where she'd to skip over the answers to exam questions and she'd go off on tangents very often. Her exams made up most of the grade but she didn't really teach the exam's content. It's still passable but I'd avoid her class if possible.
One of the worst professors I have ever had. The class is heavily art and painting based, with almost zero focus on psychology. 90% of questions on exams were multiple part questions; for example, the "31 question" final had literally over a hundred questions and a 1 hour time limit. Her prerecorded lectures are horrible. Avoid at all costs.
By far the worst professor at UC Merced. Went MIA less than halfway through the summer semester and taught only through pre-recorded old lectures that were terrible. This is not a psychology class but rather an excuse for her to talk about her love of art. Seems to be a nice person but is less than helpful when you need help. Do not take.
I enjoyed learning the material about visual perception and how my eyes work. I liked how the instructor was very passionate towards the subject and always willing to assist if needed.
I love everything about the course. Most of the material is interesting and even if it is not the instructor makes it interesting. The class is interactive and that adds another level of learning to the course. The instructor is awesome too. She is very clear in her explanations and adds other material that helps us better understand the topic.
Professor Altman was probably my 2nd favorite teacher of all time. She gave A LOT of extra credit if you showed up to class and was flexible. Participation is highly encouraged because that's when she gives you extra credit. The lectures were super fun and enthusiastic and the material itself was super interesting. Somewhat hefty reading though.
I LOVED THIS CLASS! Professor Altman made lectures fun and exciting. She was very easy to reach outside of class as well. 10/10 recommend taking a course by her.
I am SO SAD she is leaving UCM!!! Dr. Altman is always upbeat and happy about class and made learning fun. She is definitely one of my favorite professors and I would have loved to take more of her classes.
She has a great personality and can make the class fun. However, she does grade very hard which can make your grade look ugly at times. Overall, I would still recommend it, but be ready to work and study a lot.
The professor makes the class interesting; she likes to engage with the students and is prepared to answer questions. I did take her previously for PSY 182, and she was just as good in that class. This class and the previous class required a textbook, which wasn't a problem since it was mainly for extra context and support.
I took this course online for summer and I talked to her once- the first day of class. Test and quizzes are the only things for your grade and have nothing to do with the old recorded lectures. Course is asinine . Would not recommend
I couldn't let the 1 rating be her last rating at UC. She literally changed so many students' lives and perspectives while she was here. Because she saw something in me, I am getting my PhD. in BioPsych! UCM was bad not to keep her. Her new students are soo lucky to have her. Altman and her classes change lives PERIOD.
Had her Fall 2022 for PSY 001, Literally an amazing professor who made me want to pursue psychology as a major. Her coursework was all online through Top Hat and went with the assigned readings. The tests were also based on the coursework and she's very open to office hours. You will not regret taking her, very easy to pass as long as you show up
