Very good teacher. Very easy class. She wants you to pass.
very nice and helpful
She's the best teacher that I have ever had. Her humor, step-to-step teacher style, and interaction with the students is appreciated. It's hard to come by this type of teacher.
The worst teacher by far. She is a nice lady an all but she just can't teach a class. She is so unorganized and has no idea what she is doing. If you like classes where u teach urself then this is the one for u. Also she teaches right out of the book.
She is very helpful adn nice. Her lectures go really fast so you need to pay a lot of attention. SHe's funny sometimes. She's really helpful outside of class too. She has good memory so she remember student's faces.
With me...WITH ME....Right..? Okay people. Hah. Yeah this lady is awesome. Hey, math is never fun, and I'm glad she keeps it interesting. Nice!
She is great she helps u out of class and doen's have a problem with it, i would reccommend her.
Holly Sh!t worst teacher for this class. Lectures are unclear and hard to understand! dont take her MAN!!!
Forget people she is crazy hard...she will leave you in the dust...She does not review anything its all new math everyday....you better have your nike jordans on because she jams ...too fast and unclear
She was a great teacher. She was soo funny, her jokes are strange and she is CRAZY. I loved that class. She made the math easy and interesting.
good teacher... she is really understanding. i missed the final and she actually let me take it anyway. just have to keep up with the class
ok, of course she was great for the lower level of math, but when she teaches new stuff! OMG! She goess wayyy to fast and I get lost once a new lecture starts. Unorganized and should stick to lower level math.
VERY nice...but CRAZY. hillarious.
she will make you lost. the speed is not the issue. it's the clarity of her examples and the way she teaches will make you lost.
Funny Teacher

The material is somwhat easy so you should have no trouble keeping up. She is very funny.
she is very help ful and you dont have to go to class if you dont want to you could show up to her office hours and she will teach you in there. funny and fun to go to class
overall, she is a good teacher. the lectures can be really boring. try not to fall asleep because you might miss her random, weird jokes.
This Professor sucks, i don't know who even provided the above ratings, but let me warn you all before taking her class she is a very monotonous, boring, indian professor who is about as exciting to watch as watching ice melt. the material is easy, but i slept through most lectures(sooo boring) all you need to do is go to lab and you'll still pass
Ok so i took this class freshman year. She wasn't so bad. Funny lady who liked to crack jokes. Very helpful and teached well. She somehow remembered ppls names in the huge lecture hall even if you've only talked to her like once. coo class all in all. you'll easily pass with her.
Prof. Bodas is nice andyou didn't have to go to class it is true she'll remember your name in a large class. I don't know how she do it. She's nice and her office hours are okay i heard shes really helpful when you attend and ask for help during her office hours. She is a good teacher you don't want to show up to class.
Good instructor. Had good energy and tried to make math interesting. Clear and will answer your questions in detail
She is very unclear and fast with the material. I would not reccomend this teacher to anyone. She has a mustace and has a thick accent. A lot of HW and quizzes.
She is extremely tough and says grades on a curve, but you never know how! She is a fun instructor weird jokes. Overall the class is difficult and she it made it worse... NOT RECOMMENDED!!
The material was difficult, especially chapter 6 and 7. Attendance is necessary in order to understand the material. If you stop going, you'll have a difficult time. She was very helpful and tried to make the material as easy as possible. Always available for office hours to help anyone she can.
She moves fast with material. Lots of graded homeworth and quizzes which count for like 100% of your grade. Not a good teacher for you if can not pick up math fast.
She is veryy nice and funn...trust mee....if you go to class everyday and keep up with the lecture...you will be fine...becuz she curved the grade.....she show lots of short way for you to remember stuff in math...so keep up with her...and go to class everyday ..if u want to pass...
Very unclear and confusing. She's all over the place and her test and quizes are very difficult! She can be funny though.
She is a hard teacher. One of the things is the way she teaches. She doesn't really have clear notes, all she does is write symbols on the board and circles alot. So it's hard to understand your notes later on doing homework. In addition, she's really harsh in grading. Especially in hmk and test. She's does like to help during office hrs.
Overall very friendly, very intelligent and a fairly good teacher if you have prior experience. If you don't learn math quickly, it's going to be pretty hard because although she is thorough, she moves fairly quickly.
Great Teach
Very difficult for me. Her accent made it difficult for me to understand what she was saying. other thought she was easy but in my opinion she didn't teach the material very well and she seemed to overcomplicate a lot of the chapters making them more harder to understand. don't take her if you don't HAVE to.
Very nice teacher. She will go out of her way to teach you. Must work hard especially at the end of the semester. Test are not too bad because she give u a practice exam to study from. Also, she is funny.
Omg she is such a wonderful teacher. I swear i HATED math until I took this class. The reason she is so great is that she teaches the same concept in different ways since not everyone learns the same way. She is SO helpful and hilarious. You NEED to take her!
Best math teacher ever. I thought she was going to be difficult to learn from because of her name but her accent isnt that thick. She is hillarious and gets you to pay attention...if u dont you will go on a trip to get water. And turn off ur phone or she will make long distant calls to india on it!
Bodas frustrated me a lot. Her teaching method was kinda all over the place and it was hard to understand what she was saying. She is very funny and tries to keep the class light by crackin jokes. Having her at 8:30 in the morning was OK because she was humorous but I wouldn't take her again for a math course.
Tries really hard to make it seem like finite is a difficult subject. Assigns way too much work for such an easy subject. If you don't laugh at her jokes or say something every 10 minutes she'll get upset and uncomfortable. Assigns HOMEWORK PACKETS over breaks. I thought I was out of high school.
She purposely does hard problems as examples during her lectures, which is not helpful to helping students understand a new concept. Her course focus on huge tests. So if those test go bad, your grade is bad. Her homework assignments are indecisive. Her HW problems are no where near the difficulty of the problems on her exams.
Cracks jokes during class. Some of the test questions are similar to the examples on the board. Sometimes, speaks really loud during class and favorite quote when students fall asleep, "Go get a drink of water." I didn't do that much work and still got an A in the class.
Ms. Bodas also teaches part-time at West Valley College where I was greatful to be attending her class daily. She is interested in the success of all her students. She challanged us. I loved her sense of humor! She made coming to class fun. I had very little interest in math prior to her class, but now I have to admit...I'm starting to like it!
The things she teaches in class doesn't match with what she gives us on homework. But the videos on webassign help alot but still have to read the book and search online/ask for help from friends to figure out how to complete hw.
can be hard to understand, was not an enjoyable class. i'm extremely good at math so it was an easy typical math class, but did i like her as a teacher? nope!
WVC-Math 106. Wonderful instructor. She has an *English* accent, which some say is hard to understand. I had NO issue whatsoever. I think people are confused that she is from India-and has an English accent. She is very helpful & has a great sense of humor. I recommend her class to anyone. Be prepared to do the work and not use your cell. Love her
shes a good teacher, explain things well. shes hilarious which is a plus
She's a very attentive professor, I just feel like she goes through examples in class very fast and doesn't clarify certain things expecting us to know it already when it's a pre-calculus based calculus. Her quizzes are completely off from what she talks about on the board, she puts a lot of trig on exams doesn't teach on board though...
She is hilarious and makes the class fun. BUT her tests are extremely hard and she goes through material very quickly.
Worst teacher ever. if you struggle with math this lady is not the right way to go. She has a British, Indian and American accent and she has zero sense of humor. .
Worst teacher I have ever had. Don't let these other posts fool you. I attended class everyday and she made class harder than it should be. I had to take this class again the my other professor made it much more easier to understand. She is rude and gets loud for no reason. She really shouldnt be teaching.
She made the class as easy as possible, and worked with students to gain feedback on how to make the course easier. Very nice prof, hands assignments back on time. Told us what things could be on the exam. Don't sweat it, attend lectures, usually the examples are on test. You didn't do good if you didn't go to class
She has a British accent which was pretty cool. Overall the class was really easy (I already took calculus before this class). If you haven't before then attend class because her lectures are really good and she's super helpful! There are a couple of quizzes, she always curves the tests/ provides extra credit. The final was like another midterm.
This class is basic calc with business applications. If you took calculus before, the class will be easy, if not, it can be pretty tricky. Her exams and quizzes are based off examples in class and on the hw. She's very nice and approachable for help.
I LOVED her class. I got a C+ in precal but an A in Calc 1 all thanks to her! Extremely approachable and funny. Doesn't like cell phone use in class but that's ok because it's really important to pay attention. The ONLY thing I didn't like was that the hw was due online. Also, she curves tests really fairly, according how all her classes did. :)
This prof is the best! its a pretty simple and easy calc class too! She makes the test based on the examples in class but often the numbers are a bit hard to compute. Don't sweat it, attend class or retrieve the lectures, cause everything is based off that. She is quick sometimes, but she does slow down. overall not a mean lady,
Math71: The course is difficult, so be prepared to put in most of your time and effort in this one class. This teacher is funny & is good, but her tests are completely different than her lectures. She rushed our class till the very last day teachin us material that ended up being the majority of the final. Barely curves.
First, she barely responds to any emails. She isn't very clear about what's on the test. However, she is funny and I enjoy the online homework.
DO NOT take this teacher. 1. Does not give any info on quizes. 2. Does not review before exams. But she has a good sense of humor.
If this is the only teacher left for Math 42. AVOID AND I MEAN IT. this is how she teaches, she will give you 2 problems from one section and she moves on to the next one. Then on top of that when its almost time for midterms she does not give reviews or anything. She maybe nice and cracks some jokes in class but she cannot teach effectively.
Speeds through one chapter in one lecture. Does around 1-2 examples from each section. Sometimes leaves you to finish the examples yourself. Her teaching method sucks and she is always asking the class if you want to do these examples (of course we want to). This is basically a self teach course with medha. Had 2 midterms within a 3 weeks.
Although she is very kind, Calculus is not her strongpoint. She teaches her students wrong terminologies such as 'cook it up' instead of 'integrate' and overall is very confusing. She rarely goes all the way through with a problem, and never allows her students to try problems on their own. Although nice, she should not be teaching. Avoid!
Awesome professor! Really knows her Calculus and teaches very well! She explains thoroughly, gives reasonable tests, curves nicely, and is very funny and helpful. Generous, fun, and welcoming. Loved her class. She is very intelligent in mathematics and is always willing to help her students. She instructs at a good pace, too. Her class was perfect!
I was fortunate enough to have Medha Bodas as an instructor at West Valley College. She is spectacular. Math and I have not always got along well. I had a lot of anxiety going into this class. Ms. Bodas was helpful, kind and supportive. YOU must make the effort to engage her. YOU must stay after class or go visit during office hours. Take her class
She is the worst teacher I ever had. Please don't let the other post fool you. If you like to "cook it up" then take her class, otherwise avoid at all cost. Test are stupid and very hard, and assigns A LOT of homework.
Her british/indian accent is a bit tough on the ear. Speeds up fast and does not explain clearly with her examples. Gets moody and calls out people putting their head down on the table. Test are not easy. The textbook was all you need. Lecture was a waste of time. Avoid this professor unless you intend to learn the materials on your own.
Her analogies only do more to confuse you. More of a learn-on-your-own class than not.
Worst teacher you could imagine.
Super hard. Make sure you do your homework.
Very hard class with too much content to absorb in short period of time. Shell surprise you with hard questions on exams. Do NOT take this class, avoid professor, I Warned You.
Wonderful professor. She knows what she is doing and is willing to help the students if they are willing to learn. Her lecture notes are very helpful. You will learn a lot from her class. MUST DO ALL HOMEWORK! Not an easy class if you plan to slack off. Ask questions and go to her office hours if needed.
She is very unorganized in class. You won't even know what section or chapter you are on. Her teaching is ONLY doing practice problems on the board for the entire class.
Professor Bodas is awesome. She's super clear when teaching, and answers any and all questions students have. Unfortunately, the subject matter itself is a bit challenging, so tests are naturally tough too. However, she prepares well. Students will definitely learn more by going to class and asking questions. Bodas Funny+interesting+refreshing.
She's not bad, nor great. Gives homework daily. I had on tests and quizzes at first because I didn't know what to study, but later I found out her study guides are basically the same as the tests. STUDY GUIDE is key. She gives some extra credit opportunities. Lectures are boring for most part. Overall, I learned.
Assigns a ton of homework but will ALWAYS grant you an extension. Lectures can be confusing sometimes because of her accent and sometimes just because of the pace. Professor Bodas is a well versed professor that will help you extensively in class and in office hours regardless of class size.
Hardest class but earned my grade of A. Worked hard and the professor was always helpful during office hours. Might be confusing at times during the lecture but office hours will help you understand her more. Great professor and person.
Professor Bodas's class is best avoided if possible. Although she is genuinely interested in teaching the course and is more than willing to assist you, her style of teaching leaves you to learn on your own time. she gives alarmingly little preparation for quizzes and tests. The tests are also significantly harder than all other work in the class.
She is a tough grader. Even if you get the answer correct, if you don't lay out the entire process of how you got to that answer you will lose points. She assigns about 20 problems after each class with unlimited extension requests no penalty. Tests are very hard and students rarely finish within the time allotted. No EXTRA CREDIT other than tests.
Her tests are hard and everything that she taught on lectures is on the test. If you want to do well on her test, be sure to do textbook exercises and review homework problem on WebAssign. It is totally fine if you skip her lecture, but be sure you can catch up because she goes over lectures fast. Overall, NOT RECOMMEND.
Would not take again
Very easy class of you keep up with the homework and attend lectures. She is very nice and very willing to help if you ask. I recommend forming a study group for her class. She moves through material quickly. The midterms are easy if you do your homework and study the night before.
I love it when she says 'Mumbo Jumbo' and talks about Cinderella and fractions. I love this teacher! Would totally take again!
Great teacher, will answer all the questions you have and is very helpful. Moves very quickly through lessons but will slow down if you say something, ask, and speak up. Tests were challenging, but if you study and do ALL your homework, you should be fine. Calc II is a hard subject overall so GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS AND ASK QUESTIONS!!!
Bodas is amazing! She gives homework each class meeting that is required with unlimited extensions. Do the hw, it helps. It was an 8am, but she cracked jokes making the class interesting. Everything she covers in lecture are on the test, but they are manageable, ask her for help and she will help you. Great teacher.
Hard teacher. Doesn't teach well and goes through material fast. Wouldn't recommend her
Difficult teacher. Goes through material too fast. Avoid.
I wish you luck.
She was horrible at explaining concepts and went to fast making little sense. I took her for 19 and 30P and did not pass either. For 30P there were only 4 or 5 students in my class who actually passed. Avoid if possible
Very difficult professor. However, that doesn't mean she's a bad professor. If you are able to pay attention in class and learn materials quickly or by yourself, you will most likely have an easy time in this class. You really have to put in effort. Most of the test questions came from Webassign. Over 40% of our class received a failing grade.
Barely passed her class and I only took this to go over stuff I did in 10th grade. If you know everything already, she's ok. If not, take someone else. Attendance isn't mandatory and she calls people out for sleeping or using phones. Gives you extensions on Webassign liberally. Cracks bad jokes in class.
Personally, what pisses me off about this instructor is that she puts the most random, unpredictable problems on the tests. You are tested on concepts that she never introduced. You will need to study hard throughout the first four chapters in the textbook if you want to ace this class. She also randomly puts more quizzes out of nowhere.
Worst experience I've ever had. Does not finish her problems, puts on hard problems on the test. Her graders make mistakes ( I've compared papers with friends who have gotten credit for right answers and no work and I've gotten marked off for having the same answer). She thinks its forgiving to curve but it never really helps those struggling.
lectures are fast paced gives hardest word problem questions on test. avoid at all cost glhf to those taking
She goes in different directions when lecturing and goes off topic pretty often. She will help you if you go to her office and tries to crack jokes to lighten the mood though.
Overall she's pretty lenient and straightforward. Most of her quizzes are online, hw is on web assign, and the examples done in class are similar to what's on the test. She'll go fast during lectures, at times does not finish problems, and makes a lot of weird analogies when explaining concepts. But you'll be fine if you go to class and take notes.
Bodas is an awesome teacher. I have ADHD and it's really hard for me to sit down and listen to long boring lectures, but Bodas keeps her lectures fun and interactive. She tells funny stories about her childhood to keep people from getting distracted. Her tests are simple; I always got above the curve and ended up with over 100% in her class.
I missed a decent amount of class because of unavoidable health issues that caused me to be in the hospital often. She helped me catch up and would give me extra time when I needed it. Of course, she was still a tough grader, so you need to study for all her tests. I didnt study for the first test and got a C. Homework is also very important to do.
If you have her. I wish you the best of luck.
She can be really sweet if you go out of your way to get help, but still most of the class fails quizzes and tests. It is more heavily weighted towards chapter tests, so if you do goon on those you'll be okay.
Random stories everyday. Makes lessons over complicated and doesn't get straight to the point. Rambles on too much and talks to fast.
She is a nice and funny teacher, but very hard class. Tests and quizzes are hard but she gives few test corrections and online quizzes. Passing with a C is possible but very hard. ATTEND THE WORKSHOPS
Does her problems in class half way and expects us to finish the rest. Don't take her class she might know her stuff but she is not good at teaching.
She tends to spend more time proving theorems rather than actually showing how to apply them in the class. Most learning is done on your own.
Worst professor I've ever met. Boring jokes and story every class, nobody laugh except herself.
Homework is harder than the problems in lecture. Exams are even harder than homework. If you have confidence that you can handle math course. Try her class, let her destroy whatever kind of confidence you have.
Despite being a very fast speaker, she did her best to make sure students understood. She is more than willing to answer your questions before, during, or after class & she's not rude about it! If there is 1 thing I can suggest for her is she should go over problems w/ the same difficulty as the exam problems. The exam is 5x harder than the hw!
Her British + Indian accent makes the lecture extra hard to understand. She is a very fast speaker so it is easy to lose concentration of whatever she is speaking of. Attendance points is 0% of your total grade so lectures do not matter. You can learn everything from the book but if you can't self study, go to her classes!
I studied for 6-10 hours for every exam and spent 2+ hours on each homework assignment to study/practice and failed with a D+. Half my friends passed but they said they're just naturally good at math. She's nice but goes too fast for normal students to learn from her lectures. Her tests are much harder than anything she gives to you to practice.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND u get some exposure to calc before taking her class bc she can go pretty fast. She TELLS u what will be on exams & they're based off of previous exams + examples. No graphing in math71 class. She sometimes doesn't finish examples but focuses on how to solve for it at least. Willing to help if u ask & does her best to clarify.
She is a hard professor but overall she is an amazing one. She tells you exactly what will be on the tests and quizzes and I strongly recommend that you visit her office hours and do the homework. She is very accessible outside of class and she is very caring and wants people to succeed. If you put the effort and work into it then you will be fine.
I studied every day, spent 3+ hours on each homework, took careful notes of the textbook material, and yet I still failed. I often did better than most on the tests as seen on Canvas and so I expected there to be a curve. But THERE IS NO CURVE!!! Maybe there is for her other classes but she definitely did not curve for my class. Do not recommend.
Does not finish problems or examples. Exam are extremely hard and are more conceptual than anything. Half the class was at a D average come the 2nd midterm. Strong accent, but understandable. Avoid if you can!
She is hard but honestly if you put in the effort and do the assignments even if they are not counted towards your grade you can not fail this class. Try to learn the concepts and re write the examples given in class, they will be the same on the exams and quizes.
the things she teaches are totally different than what she tests on. be aware of the STEP SKIPPING !!! SHE SKIPS STEPS WHILE TEACHING !
I took professor Bodha's class in Fall 2018. Each of her lectures is important because she covers a lot in one lecture. If you miss one lecture, then you will have hard times in rest of the classes, so makeup as soon as possible if you missed. I like her lecture because she explains each concept VERY well, even the difficult concepts. HW: 1/lecture
Tough professor, sometimes hard to follow her examples, exams are pretty difficult. You need to show up to class and pay attention 100% of the time.
Bodas has to be one of the worst professors I have ever taken. Exams are stupid and hard. She is incredibly unorganized. I attended most of her lectures and still had to learn most of the material my own. Avoid at all costs.
Tests and the final exam are substantially harder compared to homework and quizzes. She goes by quickly in lecture, and may sometimes not finish a problem. Calc1 was not as difficult to me but take another prof if one is available. Other than that, she is very approachable and wants students to pass, but look out for the difficulty spike in exams.
Awful, avoid at all costs
her lectures are hard to follow if you don't have a good calc background. all she does is examples and assigns tons of hw that just gets tedious. Although she gives you a pretty good idea of what will be on the quizzes and exams, they are still very hard and require lots of studying. skip class and you won't pass. study guides suck. might toavoid.
She legitemately cares about her students. Although she might not be for everyone in regards to how she teaches she is always willing to give more help. I just don't like how fast she is and how she answers the 1 or 2 students in the class who always answer her questions when the whole rest of the class is clueless at times. She's a good person.
Hard class to pass, she is not afraid to fail anyone in the class even if you try hard and sometimes gives 0 points. She never goes over what we went over as a majority in the class and never even announces class mean or anything like that. It's better for the class to have a clear sense of where everyone is. She is way too tough a grader.
Worst lecturer I've ever had for sure. I had to retake this class because I got a C- with a different professor and needed a higher score to pass, but once I sat in her lecture, I literally felt like I lost the knowledge I had prior. She tells tangent stories and sometimes doesn't finish examples. Absolutely sad.
Professor Bodas makes Statistics unreasonably hard. Be aware that you will have hard tests on which you have to write exactly what she requires, or she will take away large amounts of points. Pay attention to every single explanation on the homework, and use those explanations on your tests and quizzes. Definitely would not recommend for anyone.
The best way I can describe having Mrs. Bodas as an instructor is, Fair. I was never surprised by what was in her quizzes and exams. All the questions were fair game. Just make sure you do the homework and familiarize yourself with the example given in lectures.
Her transition to Zoom from COVID made the class more forgiving: she's a fair person. I've only taken 1 midterm in person (COVID) and it didn't seem to different from the homework. To do well on the midterm, do WebAssign legitimately and attend lectures. Don't write down the PROOFS she does in lectures, but listen and then record what you need.
The worst professor in SJSU. The lecture was boring and her teaching strategy was also terrible because the class was going too fast and she always skip steps in questions. The tests are more more harder than homework and lecture examples. I always feel uncomfortable due to her attitude to students. Skip her if you can.
Overall, I had a difficult time learning in this class because of her lecture style. She spends time showing how to get to an equation but never showed any examples on how to apply it. Also spent 30-45 minutes each lecture reviewing last lecture's content and didn't leave any time for new content.
Easily one of the worst professors I've had at SJSU. Her lectures go off extreme tangents and sometimes she wouldn't even finish the example she starts which relates to very important concepts. Attempts to be engaging but fail to do so during her lectures and answer questions condescendingly.
Likes to go on tangents, and her lectures don't go over how to solve problems when to do what. Basically focuses way too much time on the theoretical side of things and rushes over the examples. Also, really wish that she would offer partial credit on her quizzes during the COVID 19 online phase.
After the transition to Zoom during COVID, she canceled the 2nd midterm and made the class forgiving. The lectures are boring and lots of homework. There were also weekly quizzes and try to get perfect scores if you can. She allows a cheat sheet for the final and the exams are no different from the WebAssign homework so practice as much as you can.
Since the class transitioned to zoom, she was accommodating to the students and extended the deadline because she wants to see that learning actually happens. While taking notes, the proof parts in the lecture are just for your knowledge but not really needed in the quizzes and exams. From my experience, quizzes and exams were like open notes.
Terrible teacher, does not know how to interact with students in a professional manner. She gets angry when students make a mistake and this is not the type of person you want to learn from.
I love professor Bodas. I had to retake calc2 because I failed it during Spring 2020 with another professor. She does assign homework every night, but it helps prepare us for the upcoming quizzes. We have a quiz just about every week which prepares us for the test (2). Quiz questions can sometimes mimic hwk or note examples. Go to office hrs.
This professor sucks and does not care about the student's success
Amazing professor. How well you do in the class is truly up to you, the student. Bodas does everything she can to help students succeed in her class. She gives a lot of homework, and students can sometimes find her quiz answers in the previous notes. Take her!!!! I think some students have a negative outlook which is why she has bad ratings.
She makes cool jokes, but if you aren't into math she isn't for you. she is extremely hard. Gives a lot of homework and many quizzes even after and before an exam.
Prof. Bodas teaches math like it's a story, if you skip class, things won't make sense. Assigns hw for every lecture, 3 midterms, 6-7 quizzes. Has a reputation for being a hard prof but she prepares you well for the final, definitely worth it. Don't be afraid to ask questions in class and get to know her, she's got a fun personality.
While she appears to be a caring professor, her lectures are very boring and don't really help explain many of the concepts. The tests were not reflective of what we learned in the lecture, and the final even more so.
Fall 2021 Pro: allows cheat sheet for the midterms (1st easy if you put in time/2nd hard af) Con: lots of hw (doesn't post solutions), read off the text teaching style, lots of notes, mundane (bad jokes) Recommendations: get another professor lol, watch youtube if you are confused, do well in hw/midterms easy B, the final was easier than mids
Overall, Math 31 as a general course itself is pretty difficult, but I believe professor Bodas definitely made the adjustment easier. There's homework assigned twice a week, the class is strictly lectures, tests are pretty difficult so make sure you're caught up and not falling behind. Bodhas is a great professor who cares, just reach out.
Lectures have no to do with the homework. I have to teach myself from Youtube videos or any website that teaches the material just so I can understand lecture. Just be ready to teach yourself with this professor.
She doesn't teach very well. She kinda jumps around subjects and is hard to understand. YouTube has been a better calculus teacher so far. Wish I took a different teacher.
Pretty terrible lecturer, so you'll have to teach yourself. 40% of your grade is from two midterms and 30% from final. Only saving grace is that if you get a higher score of the final than one of your midterms, it'll replace replace one of the midterms grades with the final grade.
Horrible professor overall. Midterms are absurdly difficult compared to other profs. Lectures are entirely focused on the theoretical, does not explain concepts in practice; YouTube has been my prof this entire semester. Lectures/HW/Midterms are totally unrelated in difficulty/topics. Goes off on tangents, can't connect with students. DO NOT TAKE!!
A bad professor IMO, nothing but bad experiences with her. Lectures arent really helpful on the HW, exams are really really hard and have very little to do with lectures and HW. She goes off on random tangents a lot and tries to connect with students but just ends up feeling intimidating and rude. Please dont take her, other profs are better
Do everything in your power to not take Bodas. Her class was one of the worst experiences that I have ever had in my education. What she teachers during the lectures do not even line up with the exams most of the time, and she assigns random assignments out of the blue that was not listed on the syllabus. Very unpredictable and difficult exams.
By far the worst class I've ever had. I've never come close to failing a class until now. The midterms were harder than the practice. Overall I feel powerless and this class completely ruined my plans for college. I can't take my major courses next semester. I'm in a really bad spot now. Take Jesse Geneson my friend has him and he's way better.
DO NOT take her for ur own sake. Thing is, this class is basically all word problems, so problems on the tests often differ from the way she does problems in lectures. Quite a bit of memorizing. Class average for tests were often less than 50%. 85% of ur grade is from quizzes/tests/final lol. lowest test score only replaced by a higher final grade.
DO NOT TAKE HER!!! I cannot stress this enough. If she is the only teacher left, take math 42 next semester or over the summer. Her lectures feel like she talks just to talk. No one retains any of the information during the lectures but that doesn't matter because it's not like the midterms at all. If you fail midterm, good luck passing the class
Other reviews say she leaves examples unfinished - that's because the integration was something we learned in Calc 2 and doing it in class would be boring/waste of time. If you ask her, she would finish the problem. Lots of notes from lecture - filled up two notebooks. No cheat sheet/calculator for midterms and final so need to memorize formulas.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS! If she is the only professor left, take this class next semester. One of the worst experiences I've ever had. Her lectures are useless and don't reflect what's on the exams. The HW isn't helpful and you're much better off religiously studying the textbook or watching youtube videos. For your own sake, do not take this class.
What can I say...I walked to class with high hopes of GREATNESS. Instead, I left with tears running down my cheeks. Although at times she unravels her highly humorous hilarity, I cried more than I laughed. Bodas's BOMbastic accent, along with her 4-whiteboard lessons, led to misery. Dragging past page 696 of my homework, I realized I didn't belong.
The class itself is difficult, however, the professor does a great job at going in depth with the topics and reinforcing important concepts many times. She makes a lot of good jokes and truly cares about her students. She will positively answer any question, even obvious ones. Tests are the same questions as seen in class and on homework.
Professor Bodas gives us good notes and examples but teaches at lightspeed. The midterms were even harder than the final exam and with questions we weren't prepared for.
I was struggling a bit because I'm not that good at math unless I try really hard, which I didn't. I never missed her class and I loved her teaching even though the class was difficult. She's really funny and nice, just put your phone where she can't see it when you're not taking pictures of the board (make sure she is not in the pictures).
The class overall was relatively difficult however, if you are attentive during her lectures, complete the homeworks, and read the textbook, you will be fine. The 2nd midterm was very difficult compared to the 1st and 3rd. Her class lectures are quite lengthy but she still keeps them entertaining with some jokes.
Pretty easy professor as long as you pay attention in class.
Professor Bodas is really nice. She is willing to help students. She gives a lot of examples to make it easier for students to understand and those examples are very helpful for you in studying for the exams.
Professor Bodas is a tuff grader but very understanding. I received a D- taking calculus my first time with a different instructor. Calculus with Bodas is a whole different experience she makes lectures very easy to follow. Just actively raise your hand and participate you can easily be on her good side and receive a great grade in the class.
Material's hard, but Bodas teaches well and properly prepares you for the final and such. Lectures are engaging and she cares about her students. Some assignments are given for class participation. Overall the class is graded very fairly, and there were test corrections available for our hardest test.
Just ATTEND lectures. Pay attention, ask questions, and you will do fine. This is Calculus 2. Not a very easy course. You have to respect it. Bodas is a wonderful professor. Here's a hint: If you and the class actively reciprocate her teaching, she doesn't assign extra work. Be the person to make her job easier and she will do the same to you.
I LOVE HER!!!
People say she teaches fast but she is simply teaching according to the course calendar, prepares you for tests well, makes the lectures entertaining with jokes. No reason not to take her.
If you trust in *HER* process, show up to class, pay attention, actively participate, and do your homework, you should be fine. Calc 2 is a hard subject and she does her best to guide you through it and give you a good sense of what you need to know and how you should approach the theory portion. It is not an easy A but calc 2 shouldn't be.
Lectures are very surface-level and she doesn't go in depth enough to understand the homework. You will definitely need supplementary material to pass this class. Blames things on the coordinator when things get inconvenient. She's a nice person, but not really a good lecturer. I learned little in the lectures, had to study most of it myself.
Professor Bodas was quite funny and nice, being pretty flexible with class times, allowing me to do lectures earlier so I can go home. However, although it was me, pay attention to her lectures and also the sample problems for the exam and final as it will be quite similar, and you'll be fine. Just practice and you'll do great.
The course itself is rigid, very fast paced already. Every day was a new lesson, felt somewhat prepped for each exam. Doesn't give as many practice problems before exams, but a lot of examples in class/problem of the day. Exams were not extremely difficult, most problems were ones we saw before in class. Did not feel as prepped for the final.
she has a british indian accent but still enunciates well so its sort of 50/50 if you'll hear and understand her. it's calc 2 so its gonna be hard regardless of who's teaching so i don't know if she really made it better or worse. harsh/picky grading (by her and TAs). don't skip lecture or you'll fall behind really fast.
Definitely passionate about the content she is teaching. Not distant or stuck up, willing to help explain when you don't understand. She's funny sometimes ig. Oh and she often curves tests which is a big help.
I do not know why people say this professor is good. Took MATH39. She does not respond to emails. A lot of HW and none accepted late even for reduced credit or any reason. Atrocious grader even tho doesn't show what work she wants for exams & you can get all the concepts but the grading will never reflect that. She prepares you to be unsuccessful.
Makes errors in her exam questions and grading. You may spend a lot of time figuring out a question in exam, only later on to find out it was wrong, and she gives a second chance to attempt that, but what about the lost time on other questions? Can't trust her grading at all, ridiculous and unclear scheme with no transparency & with sudden changes
Don't take her.
Lacks any empathy.
horrible grader. difficulty level speaks for itself. your grade is not reflective of your understanding. she just preps it so that no one can get an A, just pass. At most, A- be the highest cause she hates giving out As even if the student deserves it. ppl said she wasnt this bad before, probably cause shes getting so old.
She gives THE BEST lectures every time, but I recommend taking the 10:30am class since it might be a little bit too much for 7am class. If you really pay attention in class, you don't need to teach yourself the materials again. The only thing is she doesn't give out the Midterm Review.
Horrendous experience with her for linear algebra; she often makes errors in exams and grading. Beware.
What do I even say...just don't take her...for your own sake
Hard to pass, harder to pass with a good grade
I don't understand the good reviews...must be old...she's not good in the present. Steer clear
Do not take her unless she is your last option. Grades extremely tough on homework and assigns a lot. Lecture material is not enough to prepare you for her exams.
Most of the grade comes from 2 Midterms, then Final, then HW. Very harsh grader. Stuff covered in lectures is not helpful for homework problems and somewhat helpful for Tests. Try taking Linear Algebra with another professor or over the summer/winter at another college. Hard to pass, harder to pass with a good grade.
The professor grades very hard on midterms, she teaches to fast and makes it hard to read the board because she refuses to erase the board and makes you turn around constantly. Her accent is very hard to understand and the homework does not correlate to the midterms. I would advise taking a different prof if you can.
Professor Bodas is pretty engaging and flexible. The class moves fast, but she prepares you well for exams. I found unstuckstudy helpful for extra practice alongside the textbook. Overall, a solid math course.
Good teacher, but the course itself is very tough regardless of who your professor is. she is very knowledgeable, and asking her questions and office hours is a hack to pass the class. exams are straight from lecture problems and hw.
Tough grading when it comes to test and sometimes makes errors. I recommend looking through the rubric and getting points back. She is relatively nice and funny at times, but the hw is brutal. Calc 2 is a hard class in general but prepare for a TON of self-studying. It's not impossible though.
Her midterms are 100 times harder than the other professors' for calc one, the highest grade on this first midterm was a 71%. She assigns to much homework, assigns problems that are extra har,d and makes us completely simplify, don't take unless you wanna hate your self and life.
People say her tests are hard, but the course is difficult and her tests reflect that. Attend every lecture, do all of the homework, and do practice problems pre-test and you should be fine.
I dont know why people dont like her. if you go to class, pay attention, take notes, ask questions, thats like 80% of the work. it is a hard class but i can tell she cares as long as you care. she'll meet you halfway if you put in the work
Lectures are very conceptual and simple compared to what is give on exams, which are largest part of grade; only curve is based on top scoring student and with lots of retakers and such, expect minimal curves. Overall worst part was that exams were much more difficult and different that lecture examples
Her midterms are harder than the final. Lectures are alright but the homework is helpful with understanding the concept and practice problems are better. As long as you do decent on the midterms the final would be fine as it's not written by her.
Lectures decent, tends to overcomplicate things that are actually very simple. Midterms are hard the averages were around 50% compared to other classes which had 80% averages. Ask her questions in lecture though she goes fast she will stop and make sure you understand what shes going over.
Mrs. Bodas is a very good professor, she has great jokes and provides very good lectures. I will say however that she is a very tough professor and attendance is required if you want to get a good grade. No online recordings of lectures. Reccomed using the class discord to get the final test papers from previous years ( if not create one !)
Alright lecturer. She speeds through each concept, some self teaching will be needed to stay on track. Brutal midterms (3 of them) and final according to other reviews. HW is $36 on Edfinity. Its calc 2 so obv its hard. Has a sense of humor to keep the class engaged but u still needa lock in. Prof. Burgain has better reviews so check his page :/
This is definitely a hard class, but it's really clear that she wants her students to pass. Don't be afraid to ask her questions because she will try her best to make sure you know what you're doing. Her "bad jokes" make her 9am lecture a little bit more bearable.
The ratings for her are insane fear mongering. The lectures go into detail but sometimes you need to do the homework to fully get it. She's really kind makes sure you understand, just ask her questions. The 3 mid terms and final make a majority of your grade but its not sure, the practice problems she gives are good practice for her tests.
Prof. Bodas is great. She is very passionate about calculus, and I understood about 90% of her explanations. She really wants you to pass and makes learning fun. Ask questions. My class had like 3 quizzes, but they were either done from home, or you could ask her/people around questions. But remember, Calc 2 can be hard with any teacher.
It's a hard class but she clearly knows that and tries her best to help every student understand the material. She's clearly passionate in what she's doing and she's super funny. Very approachable
