If I could go back and retake general physics I would definitely pick her class! If it wasn't for her I would have never passed physics. She's the sweetest and explains the problems with clarity and detail.
Gives quite a bit of homework, tests aren't particularly easy or difficult... is a nice professor, and you can definitely do well in the class with some work, but don't expect to cruise through.
She gives alot of homework but that is so that we get to ptactice. Her tests sre easy if you study. You can get an A but you have to study. She is really nice and clear and over all I really like her.......
Professor Jain is a very nice woman but she is by no means the best professor. I did learn quite a bit in her class but the way she teaches the subject can get confusing and oftentimes I didn't know what was being taught. Her tests are simple but they're short so it's easy to get a bad grade on it if you don't know all the material.
Physics is a tough subject, but I really liked Professor Jain a lot. She was down to earth and very willing to help her students. (She was in the tutoring center twice a week all semester long). She assigned a bunch of homework questions so that everyone practiced the material. Tests weren't bad at all. Highly recommend her!
best physics professor at Middlesex hands down.. extremely lenient and very clear.. if you practice the homework and put in the effort required of a physics class, you'll get an A. she's a sweetheart and is dedicated to helping her students learn.. take her you won't be disappointed
best physics professor at Middlesex hands down.. extremely lenient and very clear.. if you practice the homework and put in the effort required of a physics class, you'll get an A. she's a sweetheart and is dedicated to helping her students learn.. take her you won't be disappointed
She's very helpful and will def take her time to teach the material. She is not easy at all however. You have to make sure you do the homework and practice it nonstop. She gives one extra credit problem on tests, but no partial credit on any of the test problems so either you have it right or it's wrong. She doesn't curve.
If you are taking this course for the 1st time then PLEASE DO NOT TAKE HER she will not care if you understand the material or not, but she will fly through all the chapters Even if you tell her that she is going too fast then she will tell you that her other co teachers are ahead and she needs to catch up to them tons of hw less test problems=fail
she is kinda all over the place when she teaches, gets me confused at times. she is very helpful when you go to her office hours. she has an indian accent. maybe the only reason i would kinda recommend her is because she WILL prepare you well for the final exam!
She's a very smart woman and can get confused often, but she's incredibly helpful. She takes your work ethic into consideration. Come to class, sit near the front, answer her questions. Super sweet and friendly. Some tests questions are very unexpected, but you will be prepared for the final exam. I mean its physics, after all, and she's the best.
Make sure you study 24/7, do all homework and give up your social life! Her tests are hard with no partial credit and she doesn't curve. There is tons of mandatory homework. On the good side, she gives pop quizzes which count as extra credit and she usually gives an extra credit question on the test. I wouldn't take her again.
Totally agree with the comments on 1/24/14 & 11/20/13! She is sweet, but crazy! Covered everything in the book, tooooo much homework that I literally didn't have time to sleep. And she said with smile that we should give up some sleep to learn physics. A 3 credit general science course, took me much more time than 4 credits major courses.
Her class is hard, gives lots of mandatory homework, doesn't curve for any quiz or test, gives pop quizzes, no partial credit given on tests. If physics is not your strength, I'd stay away.
If physics is not your strength, stay away from this teacher. Gives crazy mandatory homework, pop quizzes, her tests are difficult with no curve or partial credit. She definitely doesn't remember what it was like being a student learning a hard subject. I won't take her again.
Very good professor. she is very helpful, when i didnt understand something she was always in her office even not on office hours. she would stay after class until you understand the material. exams are usually easy for whoever studied hard.
One of the best kept secrets of the physics department at MCC. Outstanding professor, who is very passionate about physics as much as she is about teaching students and helping them. If all the physics professors were like her, then perhaps we would have very well ended the physics phobia epidemic across the globe.
Professor Jain was absolutely amazing. She really cares for her students and does everything she can to help them when they need it. Her tests are all based on problems she does in the classroom, so make sure you attend the lectures! Her homeworks are rough, but they're meant to help you. Would definitely take her again. Such a sweetheart!
Amazing teacher. She gives out extra credit and her exams are based on her lectures. However you need to work for an A in her class. It is not easy at all even WITH the extra credit. She is there for you and will adjust the syllabus accordingly based on how the class is doing.
She does everything to help her students pass! She will explain concepts over 100 IF YOU ASK!! She loves when there is class participation. Her hw assignments were so long but after chp 11 she stopped grading hw. Her reviews were almost exactly as the test. She's sassy but kind and funny. I had fun in her class sometimes it would even make my days.
A solid Prof. who is actually passionate about what he teaches, and loves seeing his students learn. However, this guy is no slouch. Bring your A game and show up to every class, and for God's sake, do the zarking homework! If he sees you putting in the effort he will help you with any issues you have in the class. Don't take if you have thin skin.
Professor Jain is extremely sweet, and cares about her students. Physics is not an easy class but if you put the effort in you will succeed. There is a lot of homework but only 2-3 questions for each chapter are graded. The reviews before the exam are very helpful. Sometimes gives extra credit for exam reviews or test redos. Amazing professor.
Prof Jain is a wonderful professor. She is always ready to help students in any way she can and is truly passionate about Physics. Its a tough subject, and her lectures can be confusing, but she will always answer questions after class. She goes out of her way for her students.. reviews, review packets, extra credit, tutoring.. shes fantastic
best professor at MCC
Awful Professor Ever Repeats "Anyone Any question " every two minutes . Hardest ever
Hardest Tests Ever. Every Week Quizzes, Web Assign, DO NOT TAKE HER . Hardest Ever .
Wouldn't recommend, has accent ,thinks that she knows physics ,everybody should know too. Just dropped my class
HONESTLY a straightforward professor who wants students to learn & participate. Some ppljust mad that physics is hard. But as someone who finds the material not that bad, she actually teaches as much as she can in the time given. She gives extra credit and listens to her students and is super sweet and holds extra study reviews. ACTUALLY TEACHES!!
She's not a good professor. She assumes everyone knows the calculus to physics right off the bat, she doesn't explain it when some ppl may need a refresher or some may have never even taken it! Is unclear w what she's doing and doesn't give good feedback. She has made mistakes the first time she was teaching a concept and didn't even fix them
She may make mistakes sometimes, but she is so sweet and very accommodating to her students. She cares a ton about her students doing well and offers ALOT of extra credit. Look at ur notes after every lecture & you won't b confused. Also, U don't need to know calculus.. u just need to have ur calculator set to degree mode.
Physics is an extraordinarily difficult subject students will struggle to understand regardless, and no, that's not because of Professor Jain's accent. Prof. Jain is a wonderful person who cares about students and will go far out of her way to lead them to success. She volunteers as a physics tutor, hosts review sessions ect. she's one of a kind.
Professor Jain is a pretty good professor. She is good at teaching topics and helps anyone that doesn't understand something. She offers extra credit as well and can be funny at times too. She has no accent so understanding her isn't a problem. Also, she actually cares about her students and wants them to succeed. Take her!
Awesome lab professor. Available for a lot of office hours (helped with lecture material as well). Confused about the material or the reports? Then see her for extra help and she will abide! Put in the work, and your grade will reflect. Explains clearly what is needed for lab reports, which is what I look for most in a lab class.
It is a hard class, regardless of professor. She gave great lectures; if you do not attend them, it will be hard to make up. Very nice, helpful, and understanding. Great office hours. Use book for HW problems.
I took her for Physics 2 Lab. She is very caring, allowed us to fix our labs for full credit. The only reason I got a B was because I bombed the exams, because I took the lecture 1 year ago and forgot everything. Apart from that labs are easy to get a 100 on, which is 50% of your grade. Overall, recommended for labs, not aware of her lectures tho.
I just wanted to preface this by saying that I absolutely HATED physics before this class, until I had Prof Jain. She is an amazing professor. The material is very complicated and requires dedication, but she makes the concepts very easy to understand. If I wasn't set on biology I would've changed majors due to her class.
You have to show up to class to do the labs. She explains them and then you need to do them and write a lab report. The lab reports are not always so easy to understand, but if you go to her and ask for help, she will explain exactly what you need to do and will help you. Very nice and wants you to succeed! Would definitely take again!
What a wonderful professor!! She was so caring and easy to learn from. She would give you extra help if you needed it and she would give you opportunities to improve your grade. I wish I could take her for physics 2 also. She made this class fun, interesting, and understandable!
Wouldn't take it ever again, her grading system is terrible.
Such a caring professor, is always available in office hours to go over lab reports with you which is helpful since they can be complex. Tough grader on the lab reports, but if you have any doubts visit her in office hours or email her and she is more than willing to help and fix mistakes before you submit it. Just overall kind and knowledgable
SHE IS NOT ONLY AN AWESOME PROFESSOR BUT ALSO A AWESOME PERSON. SHE REALLY CARES ABOUT HER STUDENTS. SHE TEACHES REALLY WELL. I WAS AN AVERAGE STUDENT BUT GOT GOOD GRADES IN HER CLASS. I RESPECT HER. SHE IS REALLY WORTH TAKING.
She explains each concept in a simpler and understandable way. makes it even simpler if u dont understand. makes sure that u are understanding. Take notes in lecture. For exam, do the homework and go over ur lecture note. She gives review paper similar to exam. You can not fail her class. lecture r enjoyable She is encouraging :) take her
Takes time to make sure you learn everything he not only has multiple office hours but she is responsive to emails... Shes not the typical community college prof that doesn' care if u pass or fail... you can tell this professor really cares about the class and she will help you with your grade she would bet a 5 but its still Physics lol solid pick
She is such ANGEL. She gave us a lab manual so we never had to buy one. There was only supposed to be a midterm for the class,no final exam, but since we went online bc of COVID-19, we had no midterm! She is super kind and will always help you with any questions on your lab reports. You should go to class to understand the labs bc theyre easy to do
She's so annoying, her class, her lab, her assignments , everything gives me anxiety. She's overly critical about everything. Please take someone else if you don't want that extra stress in your life
Her lab assignments are extremely simple and easy to understand. She has a midterm and final exam, she went easy on us with the midterm! She is extremely dedicated to her class and her students, and makes sure everyone understands the concept before moving on.
Although she uses and shares powerpoints, it's best to use the textbook too. She provides homework on WebAssign, occasionally gives in class or take-home quizzes. There is no midterm but rather 3 big chapter tests worth 60% of your final grade. Be sure to prepare for those and the departmental final as they determine most of your final grade!
Favorite Professor! Very understanding. If you show care in your work, she will give you every opportunity to fix grades. Office hours are great, and super helpful. She is also very lenient on time frames (Virtual). Fantastic personality. HIGHLY recommend this professor. I am taking her for a second semester and am already excited.
Prof. Jain was very nice but super difficult as a teacher. I'm sure she's better in person but I had her class remote during COVID. I think the only reason I passed was having a group hat with half the class. Very difficult lectures. If you miss one thing you're completely lost. If you just need physics for your major go for an easierteacher.
Really nice and extremely smart but be prepared for her work to consume your week. Also drops lowest quiz
This class is a LOT of material and she does the best she can with it. You can tell that she organizes/prepares for class as she comes in with a thick stack of solved problems to go through in class (be prepared to double check/question her work though because a few details will fall through the cracks). Take her "solve 2 problems/day" advice!
I took professor Jain over the summer and the amount of work is pretty unbearable and unnecessary. She will advise you to read the textbook but with the amount of take home quizzes and assignments due just about everyday it's impossible to have any time to do that. There are definitely easier physics professors at MCC, pick someone else if you can
Her class is very stressful, not an easy A
Taking her now, she explain very fast and because of that it is hard to understand. She use Cengage/ webassign for her HW and tests/quizzes. I don't recommend anyone taking her for Physics Lecture II. If you still take her, then you'll feel that you're learning higher level of physics instead of level 2.
She is brilliant!!! She will come prepared, she expects you to be prepared. Professor Jain is very sweet and helpful.
Taking her right now. This class is already hard. the only thing she managing to do right now is making the class even harder. she is knowledgeable but very difficult and critical professor.
do not take this professor. she seems nice first few days then turns into completely different person like when it comes to exam. completely different from assignments. doing the assignments are pretty much useless.
I'm just frustrated. she is very intelligent, caring and well organized. that's the good side of her. But she sure knows how to make student's life harder. Tons of homeworks, quiz every week. she looks for every little mistakes possible. Exams are hard and different from Hws. Nightmarish class
omg she is really hard. I thought it was going to be easy class but she is so critical and difficult about everything.
definitely not an easy class. avoid her if you can.
She is very smart and good professor. but she over-complicate the subject. there's no reason for that. take her if you really wanna learn and somehow pass.
she is not awful but she is definitely a professor to avoid. she let you know and gives everyone hard times.
her class is full of anxiety.
She tries to be easy and also tries to make the exams easy as well but the problem arises when she is being so critical about everything.
she is very passionate about the subject Physics ( a little too much). She is very prepared everyday. I gave her bad ratings because of her grading system and her exams. It is NOT good at all.
stressful class.
Be prepare to work a lot.
it's better to stay away from her. Altho, she is an excellent professor. unfortunately, she is difficult as well. Her lectures are well prepared( be prepare for anything). If she would've just kept things as standard, then she would've been the best professor. but she made the class harder than it is.
Professor Jain is passionate about teaching. However, she expects you to be well prepared, understand the materials right after one lecture, and keep track of all the due dates. Meanwhile, she keeps changing the due dates of assignments, aka MOVING IT UP without any notice. Take her if you really love Physics, otherwise, don't.
This professor's class is full of surprises. suddenly she will decide that today is pop quiz. this class can be literally anything. like you have to be prepare for anything. basically her class is definition of anxiety.
I hate physics in general. and this professor making hate it even more. we are doing way more work that we should've. Please avoid her.
obnoxious and ridiculous amount HW every week. and top of that, she changes her questions during the exam? what's the point of HW then? I mean its already tons of HW every week, and different in exam? her exams are open note but she is still a difficult professor. well deserved 1/5
she is a smart professor. she actually knows what she is doing. she is better than other physics professor when comes to teaching. I don't like her grading criteria. test should've been similar to HWs.
don't take her unless your major is physics. Her class is TOO MUCH
Guys, this professor is extremely hard. maybe she will go easy on the first exam then she change so quickly. She makes the exams harder and you never know how will it be. review sheet is useless. tons of cEngage assignments also useless because she doesn't give any problems from there. don't take her
she is a very smart professor and also very difficult.
I took her last year, it was online. She should've just kept everything on cengage. Class became harder when she putting up the exams on canvas.
She is OKAY. I'm taking 5 classes this semester. I particularly do not like to her class because of intense amount of anxiety.
what's the point of review sheet for the exam if the exam is nothing like review sheet? that's one major thing I do not like about her class. she is excellent lecturer but very difficult. I would never take her again tho. I had no other choice but to take her. even her lab is not easy. Professor Mohit for physics far more easier than her.
She is a brilliant professor when it comes to teaching but when it comes to exams, she is unpredictable and difficult. So I would never take her again. I'm taking her lab as well. her Lab is also difficult. go for easier professors.
If you want good grades, you must write a lot of notes. write down the problems she does in class, write down the problems from cengage. do all the problems from review sheet. you can use them during the exam. all her exam is open notes. she is just difficult but as long as you got those notes, you are fine. but she made this a very hard class.
Take a lot of notes each class. because all her exams are open note. if you want print out the problems from cengage and use that as a note, you can. Also she does problems (not similar to cengage) during the class, take them as notes as well. she provides formula sheet. It's a difficult class because if you don't have notes, you will be lost.
she literally gives you every advantage possible for you to do good in the exam. but you MUST pay attention every class. her class is not easy. if you don't want to stress out, take someone else. and YEA, take all the notes .
I will not take her again but She is very caring and intelligent. she cares about YOUR grade. she extends time for exam or Hw assignments if needed. reason I won't take her because too much work and anxiety. if you want good grade on your exam, take notes because she let you use them in the exam. exam similar to in class problems & cengage problems
Professor Jain is very generous with extra credit. She is approachable & wants you to succeed. There is nothing easy about physics, but she explains everything thoroughly and will go over as many times as you need. Understand concepts & youll do well in her class, & to understand you must practice. Yes its a lot of hw but it's necessary.
I took her online. you got to make sure you do your online assignments, they are 90% similar to your exams. you can use them during exams as notes as well.
I got an A but in the beginning I had C. I had to work hard to end up with A. If you want to pass her class with A, you must write a lot of notes (problems from web assign and problems that she does during the class). write them down. I know its a lot but it will help you entirely during the exam, Because all her exam and quizzes are open notes.
you have to bring your A game in this class. so that means you have write notes and participate every class. if you're lazy in her class, you most likely have to drop out. she is hard and expects the same from you. so write notes and online hws. she let you use your notes in the exam which is HUGE plus. online hws are similar to exam.
If you want to learn physics and pass make sure you take prof. Jain. If you write notes and do your homework you can easily pass quizzes and exams. She is also willing to help you during office hours if you don't understand the material.
Her class is solely based on the notes and homework assignments from cengage. she also shows different problems during the class.. you need to study them because exam is exactly similar to cengage and problems that she shows during the class. not the easiest class. but she lets you use the notes during the exam. she is very smart and helpful.
Jain is an amazing professor! Any physics class is not easy but she will make it a bit easier for you. She cares a lot for her students and she wants everyone to pass her class. Lots of office hours available! You need to take notes, do assigments, and study a lot in order to do well in the class.
Professor Jain is simply amazing but not easy... She is a tough grader that's true, but she will give you tons of good feedback to do well in her class. The lab was a lot of fun althought the lab reports need to be flawless or you will be taken credits away. Overall, take her if you are interested in learning.
Active participation and thorough note-taking are non-negotiable. Laziness isn't an option, failure to engage may lead to dropping out. she sets high standards, mirroring the expectation for students. Doing online homework diligently is vital; it closely resembles exam content. A significant advantage is the allowance of note usage during exams.
This class is not easy at all. however the concept is simple, (Do the hws = pass exam). Cause exact same questions from cengage. however, there's a lots of questions. You have to write a lots of note (during the class and from cengage hws). I personally won't take her because of too much work. But overall, not the worst professor.
Most of class is practice. Do the take home quizzes and the homework and you will know what you're doing! She also always has office hours or time to help in the science learning center. If you put in the time, you will pass her class.
Professor Jain is amazing! She will make sure to push and motivate you to do your best. Very accessible in her office hours. Although she does assign a lot of homework, the exams were similar to the homework. Prof Jain is very caring and often gives student's second chances. Overall a great professor for both lab and lecture.
So many positive reviews. But you have to work extremely hard such taking tons of notes since they are similar to exam and quiz. There are easier phy prof out there tho. But she is def more knowledgeable . not an easy class
She was hands down the most caring professor I've ever had. She cares about individual students and their grades. It's pretty difficult to fail her class, because of the amount of chances she gives people to get their grades up. Just show up, try your best and if she sees that, she will help you out as much as she can.
She's a great professor for lab! She makes it pretty hard to fail, 85% lab reports and 15% final. The lab reports are long and annoying at times but she's always available during office hours for help! She'll let you revise them for a higher grade too. I'm not good at physics but I'm glad I took this lab with her.
Great Professor!
Great Professor
Professor Jain's class is challenging but rewarding. Take thorough notes, do the homework diligently, and you'll learn a lot. Unstuck ai was a game-changer for my exam prep – worth checking out alongside other resources.
She is THE BEST physics professor at Middlesex College. She care about students. She explains topic very well.
Great professor, really cares about students and is passionate about her work.
She is super sweet and cares about her students! I only have her for physics 1 lab so I can only speak about that. Her labs are straight forward but she can be a strict grader. She drops the worst lab grade and the final is open notes. Personally, I'm not a fan of physics but she makes lab bearable.
Really enjoyed this class she did a very good job explaining and answering questions on the different topics. She was also very good about office hours and making herself available to students who needed help.
Best professors I've ever had! She is always there to help and even gives her personal time during extra lab hours to make sure students understand the material. No matter how many questions you ask, she never gets frustrated. She's truly dedicated to her students' success. Take her class if you want to study and really want to learn something.
Late review, but I always sucked at Physics....until I took her class. She's pretty awesome. Homework is a lot but she's pretty awesome and she actually helps you understand the material. Enjoyed my time.
she is the best teacher ,very nice , she is very respectful. jut do ur homework
Honestly, I was scared To take General Physics One but thanks to Dr.Jain She Made the class very interesting, and enjoyable if you were struggling and need help, she had a lot of office hours opportunities and she was the type of Who Truly can't about their students.
