I have always hating writing classes, until I took Meg's class. She sincerely cares about students and is always willing to meet one-on-one for additional help. She grades fairly and is clear of her expectations. Class time is always interesting and helpful. Definitely take this class from Meg!

She was a great teacher! she was patient and understanding and she never put any of her students down. she often would ask us what would be more beneficial to go over in class and she listened to our feedback. she also made me feel good about my essays even when she was criticizing them. I took an identical class at a different college before this, so it was hard for me to take this course seriously; however, Meg was an excellent instructor and helped me to enjoy writing more. Even though most of the class was review for me, I still learned a lot from this class. Grading rubrics were provided for each essay, which was very useful.

Meg was awesome. She makes you stretch, work through things that you are uncomfortable with, but makes it pleasant. She genuinely cares about her students and wants them to progress.

Meg really made class enjoyable to attend. In class instruction was very helpful in understanding how our essays should look. Our class was our family and it made a wonderful environment for learning how to be better writers because we all are writers.

A few essays I was super confident in but then ended up with a lower grade, so her grading is kind of hard. She does give extra credit opportunity. She is super, super funny. There are four main assignments due during this class, so the majority of your grade is based on those. Meg is a great teacher, even though I'm not too fond of writing/English. She called our class a "family" and it really did feel like one by the end of the year.

Meg is one of the best professors that I've had. She actually cares about her students and desires their success. She is one of the more understanding professors that I've had, but that doesn't mean she's a push-over. She is respectable and respects you. But, for this class in general, you must show up. It is part of the grade.

There were so many times I went in thinking that the pieces were lame and then we talked about them and I realized how genius they were. It made me want to be a better writer and go beyond what I normally write.

She cares more about improving your writing style than anything else, which was very helpful. We had great discussions in class and she made us feel like a family. Loved this class. Meg is an awesome teacher, she makes class interesting and takes the time to get to know her students. Originally I didn't like writing however taking this course pushed me to become a better writer. There's a lot of reading assignments, although you're the one who checks off whether you did them or not so it's all about honesty.

Meg is such a good teacher! She is so nice, gives extremely good feedback on all of the writing assignments, hilarious, and inspirational. That being said, the one down side to her class is that she takes a really long time to grade the assignments. I mean she has a lot of other classes as well because she's a graduate student, so it makes sense.

Shes awesome, would definitely recommend. Class is engaging and shes very willing to help you with your papers. Especially considering WRTG 150 is required, shes a great choice. Although one thing about WRTG 150 in general: I had a 3 on AP Lang so i had to take it. If you passed, I wouldnt worry about taking it. (Unless your writing needs work)

Meg was an awesome teacher who really helped my writing grow. Even though we disagreed a whole lot on my opinions expressed in my essays sometimes, she always had encouraging things to say and always knew how to help me improve my writing. Also, she is very understanding to external circumstances and helped me out big time when I needed it.

Meg is an awesome teacher! She makes the class discussions fun and is willing to help when you are struggling. She has instructor conferences outside of class to meet individually to discuss their essay before the due date. However, there is a lot of homework each night, but it is doable and only counts for a couple of points.

She's super nice and friendly. She's got a great sense of humor (she made learning about writing a research paper entertaining). We didn't focus very much on grammar in our lessons, but we did learn many types of essays (some were actually fun). She expects you to work, but if you're struggling with something, she's very willing to work with you.

She's a fair grader, and she does grade norming and teacher conferences each essay so we know what she's looking for. The essays are worth more as you go so you get a chance to adapt to her grading style.

Writing 150 is tough class if you're not prepared for it and/or dislike writing, but Meg is a great person and really cares about her students and wants them to succeed. If you need help she's willing to sit with you one-on-one and get you on the right track.

Take Writing 150 from Meg! She gave amazing feedback and she made the typical Writing 150 class manageable. She walks you through 4 papers and does multiple drafts with you so it's basically impossible to fail. Most of my class's papers averaged around an A-. There is one final group project as a final, but all the work is done in class.

Take it from her!! I don't like english, but I did after her class. All class periods are very interesting and fun to participate in. Love her!

She is very nice and helps you feel calm about writing. You do have tasks to do before every class for points, which are not always that hard usually just some reading. She only had my class write three major papers, which was SO nice. She even gives student examples and tells what grades she gave them. This allows you to see how she grades.

She is super nice and willing to help you with your papers. She meets with you before every paper to help you know what to improve on. Sometimes she takes a long time to put grades in, and on a few occasions changed what was due for class the day of class which made it hard to know what to have prepared for class that day.

Meg (or "President" as she prefers) is honestly awesome. Coming from a student who absolutely hates writing she actually makes it very entertaining and fun. She's young and easy to relate to. Most your grade is based off of 4 papers, but if you follow the rubric you'll very easily get an A. She's a must have for a usually very boring, hard general.

I took Professor McManama by accident and I cannot be happier. She simply wants her students to succeed and is a happy kind person. megan is a great choice for writing 150. the papers are a huge portion of your grade, but she gives you a lot of time to work on them and she walks you through different steps of the process. she really encourages peer review which helps for revising. there is a decent amount of reading at the beginning of the semester, but it's not overwhelming.

Meg takes you through the writing process step by step on every paper. She is willing to make time outside of class to work with you and gives great feedback. She isn't an easy A, but she is very fair. Writing 150 with Meg has been one of my absolute favorite classes.

Meg is one of the most genuine professors I've had at BYU so far. She cares about her students and wants to make sure that they are learning to the best of their ability. Get ready for a lot of homework but it allows you to take part in the group discussions which can be fun. Her feedback is good when you get to talk one on one with her.

She made time to talk to everyone about their papers, give feedback, and was open to to questions. She showed us the rubric for papers and help us understand it before we turned in any, and showed us our individual rubrics after grading our papers. She has high but reasonable expectations and gives you the tools if you're willing to do the work.

Meg is my favorite out of all of the instructors I had this semester. All of my other friends' writing classes sounded awful, but ours was awesome! She is super fair in grading, not too strict, and your writing skills will improve a lot.

Meg's class was great, I learned a lot, but there were a lot of assignments. At the start of the year there was a LOT of reading from the book. It worked out fine, but you have to write some good essays to get an A, most of mine were in the B+ to A- range, even after peer review and editing.

I always looked forward to Meg's class. She's really understanding about deadlines and assignments and truly wants her students to succeed. I appreciated how she only wanted us to do assignments that mattered vs busy work. Although the papers can be a lot of work, taking it from her made it worth it.

This class was seriously my favorite of the semester. Meg is the absolute kindest professor here at BYU. She is extremely helpful in all her feedback and helps guide us to becoming better writers. I honestly wish I could take this class again! The coursework was at times challenging but was never unbearable, and ultimately helped me become better.

Meg is one of my favorite professors ever! What an awesome teacher to have for a writing class. She takes an approach of having you churn out a bunch of writing every week, but a fair amount is graded on completion, so it is a safe environment to push yourself! She also leads fantastic peer workshops and gave individual feedback to improve my work.

This was one of my favorite classes! It really felt like being part of a writing family. There is a lot of reading, but it is all phenomenal literature. Take the class!

This is my second time taking a writing class from Meg, and I loved it! Sometimes challenging, but so ultimately rewarding. I learned so much about how to be a better, deeper, and more thoughtful writer. If I could take this class again, I'd do it in a heartbeat!

Meg creates a comforta dynamic in the classroom and when she comments on writing, there is a good balance between positive feedback and suggestions for improvement. Her enthusiasm for writing rubs off on you and she grades fairly. I would 10/10 take another class from her in future!

She is very nice, knows her stuff, and will do pretty much anything to help you to succeed. She isn't everyone's cup of tea though.

She is a great professor that really does care about your success in writing.

Meg requires you to write and to write well, but she sets you up for success and is willing to help any students achieve success. If you are involved in her class and ready to learn you will do great. Taken during the spring semester and I thought the class was well-paced and amazing. Was also an "online class" during the pandemic.

Meg is awesome! She really cares that each student understands the material and wants us to improve our writing! She never gives assignments that don't help you improve and understand the material. I've noticed such an improvement in my writing because of Meg! She's super chill and understanding too.

Meg has been a great Writing 150 teacher. She doesn't give busy work and is invested in helping her students become better writers. Much of what is taught in this course is applicable to critical thinking skills and skills needed to be successful in a college career. Her lectures are insightful and entertaining.

I don't generally enjoy English, but I learned so much from this class! Meg McManama's teaching style, though it left me very busy, helps me feel prepared for future college writing. I am so grateful I had her as my professor!

This class will help you understand writing. What was once constricting was made liberating to me as I learned the ins and outs of writing. Prof. Meg clearly loves her topic and her students and creates a driven classroom experience with a touch of fun mixed with hard work and high expectations. It was an enjoyable first college class.

Meg gives you many examples and provides many opportunities to make your writing better before submitting assignments.

She was an amazing professor who loves what she teaches and is good at it! It was a pretty chill class and she is very open minded! I only wish I got a little more feedback from her, but besides that, the class was everything I could have hoped for!

I have never been a great writer but I learned so much in this class. Even though it's only been 4 or 5 weeks I have seen my writing, reading, and analyzing skills improve immensely. Professor McManama teaches clearly and makes sure you know what is expected in every assignment and is willing to help you work through it if you have questions.

Meg cares A LOT. Whether we're talking about writing or her students themselves, she really cares. She expects a lot out of your papers, but helps make sure you have everything you need to get them to that point.

Professor Meg is fantastic! It's very obvious that she's put in a lot of effort to make this class meaningful for her students. It was pretty challenging, and she definitely makes you work hard for a good grade, but she was also very supportive and always ready to help. Her classes and her assignments are very purposeful. No "busy work" here!

She will really work with you if you need an extension and she accepts late work with a small deduction. She also has fun games during class for some activities. She is super understanding and the class isn't super stressful but I also think that my writing improved a lot.

Meg was a really good professor. She obviously cared a lot about her students and was really careful about not giving us too much homework. You do have to turn in quite a bit of writing and do workshops where you submit your writing for the whole class to critique, but I think that's normal of any creative writing class.

Meg is a really good professor and friend. She won't make you feel bad about your work and she won't give tests, just papers. There is a lot of reading, but it is interesting. If you like to write a little bit, take the class, you will love it.

She's the sweetest, very kind and helpful! The course isn't very difficult on its own, but she is great at clearing things up and walking the class through the assignments. Great choice for this class. Don't miss your opportunity to take her class.

Sure amazing teacher. I have never been great at writing, but still felt like I could totally ace this class. Teaches in a bunch of different styles so it never gets boring. Super understanding with due dates and other things. Your grade mainly relies on three papers written through out the semester. A solid 10/10 for a writing class!

Writing 150 was going to suck either way, but taking from McManama was the best decision of my life. Her lectures were great. She makes you work hard, but give you resources to do so with. She is funny. It was great. God Bless

I love Professor McManama! There are three papers in the year, each increasingly harder, but she helps in any way she can. She is also very flexible with due dates if you have a legitimate reason for needing it pushed back. I'm not a great writer, but she definitely helped me improve. She really does care and wants to see her students do well

I loved this class! It has helped me to improve my writing and understand college criteria for grading. I didn't need to take it, but I think it still helped me to improve and learn. Also, the professor is such a cool, nice person to learn from and work with. She guides you throughout the course with all the assignments. I totally recommend her!

Professor McManama is an excellent teacher. She really cares about her students and wants them to get a good grade. She's an easy grader. You get an A on the assignments if you do them. You have 3 essays during the semester that aren't graded hard either as long as you do your best to follow the rubric. Getting an A isn't too difficult.

I really enjoyed her and this class, even though writing isn't my forte. The hardest part was definitely getting good grades on the papers.

Meg is a great teacher and cares a lot for her students. She was willing to meet with students whenever and make sure they were taken care of. The class itself was not super difficult, but the paper grades obviously are hard to get high scores consistently. I'm generally not a big fan of writing, but I would take another class from her if I could.

The proffesor is great, she gives a good load of work but she makes her classes engaging. I learned a lot about my writing style and about life.

Prof McManama is super kind, and truly wants the best for her students. She grades fairly, and tries to prepare students as best she can for the essays by spending time covering material and answering questions. She knows what she's talking about and takes feedback well. Take Writing 150 from her!

Overall a great experience. Get ready to write a lot but that much is to be expected out of a writing class. The tools and skills that Professor McManama provides will be a great asset not such for the in-class papers but in helping you out in future assignments regardless of your major.

You do have to work for your grade, but you're writing papers so what do you expect? You will always have homework but it LITERALLY helping you prepare your papers so she is making your life easier. I have always hated writing but this is the first time I have ever actually enjoyed it.

She's a great instructor that really cares about her students! She takes the class through each step of the writing process for each of the three papers to make sure they're well prepared. She's accessible outside of class and ready to work with each student individually!

Good professor. Since it's a writing class, there is a lot of work, but it isn't too difficult. It was a more enjoyable class than any other writing class I have taken.

She is super nice, willing to give feedback, and will answer any questions you might have. In my opinion she is pretty available. One of the things that I loved most about this class was that each paper has mandatory outlines, drafts, and peer reviews that count as grades. It forces you to stay on top of all of your papers.

I only took this class as a GE credit but I think that this is the best professor to take it from. You are given a lot of opportunities to implement the principles that you are learning in class and even given the chance to try things on your own and in your own way. She gives great advice and is there to help.

Meg was such a great professor! She was very understanding of whatever situation arose, and was very inspirational. If you want to make a writing class at BYU more enjoyable, definitely take it from Meg. She was amazing. :)

Meg is kind, encouraging, and a great instructor. She provided many opportunities to grow as a writer and gives great constructive criticism. I actually took her 218 Creative Writing class and I would take her class again.

Professor McManama is a great teacher! She carefully walks through her expectations, has well-organized content, and is always willing to work with you on questions or concerns. I especially learned a lot about researching and preparation for papers from her. Definitely a good class to help introduce you to the world of college papers.

ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND! She is a legend, who will help you learn the material, help you understand what she expects and is willing to work with you so that you can pass the class. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND taking it from her if you are looking for a fantastic Professor!

Professor McManama is great at respecting student's opinions and guiding them in the writing process, Homework is useful; no busy work. She is very fair in grading, perhaps a little lighter than most. I enjoyed her emphasis on engaging with other opinions in a constructive and respectful manner. Overall a great experience.

I am not a fan of english classes because I hate writing papers but Meg was a great professor. 3 papers over the course of the semester but they are very doable if you are a good student who stays on top of their work. She tried to make class engaging and have fun with us because she knows this isn't everyone's favorite subject.

Great professor! I hate academic writing but I loved this class. She genuinely wants you to succeed so she gives good feedback. The three papers are pretty manageable if you keep up with the assignments. Her background is in creative writing so that helps make the class more fun. Recommend for people who aren't very sure about their writing skills.

She's so fun! Very excited about the material. Her readings are really fair and fun to read. Most of the class was workshopping which was really helpful. She's a bit hard to reach by email quickly, but always wants to help. She has a lot of short story and poetry experience and not a lot of novel writing experience. My favorite class this semester!

Meg pushes everyone to be a better writer! She gives great feedback that you can actually use. She does a lot of workshopping, which really helps individual pieces. Most of all, the things you learn aren't fluff, they help you become a better writer and are always intentional! Take Meg's class!
