Good teacher. Tough class, but she makes sure everyone understands and constantly asks if anyone has any questions. Usually has students write two 2 page papers in small groups on accounting topics.
She was very helpfull and now my favorite teacher. Even after I left ARC she was able to be a reference on job applications. Take her and you will not be disapointed
very knowledgable and is able to use that to teach unlike most teachers. goes over material very thouroughly until it is understood by all. i reccommend her to all.
Wonderful teacher. Very knowledgeable, experienced, and a nice person. Expects students to participate in class and you will definitely need to study for homework and tests. Would take again if had opportunity.
Gives too many ways to solve one problem, then you are not able to get the right answer, because of mixing methods.Has favorite students that get most of her attention.Gives practice quizes, but no answer key to check if you are correct. Is surprised when students don't do well on tests.
Awesome instructor, goes out of her way to help you. Lot of homework but she helps you with finishing half of it in class. Take home quizes. Tests are straight from her notes. 2 group writing assignments. Definite A as long you keep up with reading and finishing assignments...
Great professor! Always helpful and has a positive attitude. I would recommend for any accounting class!
Gotta love Meg. Very helpful and makes sure everybody's on the same page. Tons of homework but a lot is done in class. She's a fox!
very helpful makes sure you understand before moving on. wonderful visaul aids & just a great and caring prof.
she is very helpful
shes cool. does most of the homework for you. just keep up with the rest of the homework and its preaty easy
She knows how to teach, and she feels passionate about her subject matter, so it makes sitting in the class much easier. She likes to help and it shows. Good looking too.
She's a really great professor! Her lectures are very clear and she basically outlines the entire chapter for you. The exams are challenging, but study her notes and you will do well. There were 5 tests, 5 take home quizzes, and 2 group papers to write. She's very approachable and is always will to help her students. Highly recommended.

Awesome teacher!!! She is the best teacher I've ever had! Extremely helpful, easy to understand, won't continue on in lecture until everyone understands. She is absolutely amazing.
She is SO great! She is very helpful and will sepnd as much time with you as you need! This a professor worth taking!!
What an outstanding professor. Very Helpful and she pushes you to excel on your own as well. There is a lot of HW but most is done in class to begin with. Very cool to talk to, and she makes accounting so much less boring than it really is. Very funny, witty, and clear in her delivery of the material. Highly recommended. She's a cutie

GREAT Professor!!! Extremely helpful. Makes class interesting, and explains everything clearly. Take this class if you are a Serious Accounting Major!
I enjoyed the class. She made it interesting and was always available to help either in her office or through email. It was a pretty easy going class.
Great teacher!! Very helpful & will go over material until you get it.Tests are easy only because of multilpe choice, but you better still study. Group report due @ end of semester, not hard, but pain in the....don't let group members get away w/out doing their part. It's alot to due alone...I KNOW!!!
I had Mrs. Pollard for Financial & Managerial Accounting, she is the best teacher I've ever had. I learned a lot, very organized, gave one freebie for late homework. Explain material in detail, I earned an A in both classes. I highly recommend.
She is very helpful teacher. It is not easy to get an A but you will learn a lot of things from her class. If your major is accounting, you must take her!
Her class was pretty easy. All you have to do is read the book, and do the HW. Its a really easy B, but you have to put in some work to get an A
Very rewarding. If you put in the effort, you will get a good grade. You ALWAYS know exactly where you stand in the class. I learned a ton
Very mediocre.
Wouldn't take her class again. Favourtism
Not a gimme kind of Prof but gives you lots of ways to learn the mateiral with handouts, clear and concise lectures, quizes, and reviewing homework. Never tests on something not covered in class. You have to do the work and spend the time to pass, as it should be with any upper level class.
Here's the thing: if you can read straight from a book and get the material, then you'll do good in class. I can't, therefore, I didn't. She gives quizes BEFORE she teaches the chapter, if you do the hmwk wrong, you get no credit. There are 2 assignments other than tests. She's hardcore. This is not how I learn, if you're like me, take someone else
Not good - I wish I would have chosen a different professor also textbook used is very hard to read and understand
She is willing to answer any questions. With that said, class is extremely difficult. Most prof's allow a note card, or count the homework as extra credit---not her. I spent more time trying to memorize formulas so I could do well on the test than actually absorbing the info. If you don?t test well, or have other classes would NOT recommended.
Tests for this class included information that was not covered in class. I felt that was an unfair way of testing she not recommended
The comments below me must think they are still in High School. Hello! It's a college class! Of course it is hard, that is why it is so rewarding to have a degree! Meg Pollard is the best teacher I have had in my short college career. The work is tough, but you learn so much and she is always stopping to see if there are questions. She's good!
I saw favoritism with three students in this class. It was annoying. I would not take her again.
I had a big problem understanding Professor Pollard she talks too fast. I wish she would slow down and carefully explain the topics.
She was kinda hard and assigns a lot of homework but it seemed to learn the material. Homework had to be 100% correct to get credit and she assigns an annual report group project due at end of semester. She is very clear in explaining the material though. I would recommend her esp. for acct majors.
I have never worked so hard for such a low grade. Her lectures will put you to sleep and even if you are awake you won't know what she is talking about. I would not take her again for any amount of money.
I took Prof. Pollard last semester. After class I had a question about a test question that I had gotten wrong - she answered me in an arrogant and belittling way. I was insulted. I would not take her again.
Overall she is a good professor. Really knows her stuff, but I have to agree with some of the not so flattering comments that are made. First, she does have a problem with favoritism. Gave one girl in my class at least 10 unweighted points. Her final grade went from a 'C' to 'B'. The second thing is the fear that someone is cheating on her test.
Admittly, she is very friendly but course is unorganized as dates are constantly pushed back which will would be issue if you're borderline passing the course. Exams are nothing like anything i have encountered, as they focus heavily on multichoice questions that are just much as work problems. Be advised, not a easy class.
Very good teacher gives handouts that she uses for her lectures if you do the homework you will pass the test. She has group projects which I hate but overall she is a very good teacher. I would take one of her class again. If you are an accounting major she is a very good teacher for you to take very helpful she know the field and will help you.
she makes the class fun and makes sure each student understands the chapters. she does most of the homework in class and none of the homework is due in class it is for your studying alone. she throws out 3 of your lowest test scores and I would recomend her to anyone who wants an easy grade
excellent way of teahcing. you really learn the material by the way she teaches. she does the hw in class with you so that you know wat ur doing. all tests are multiple choice and EXACTLY like practice exams. great teacher.
i hate accounting but she's a great teacher and explains everything well. Would recommend her.
I thought the professor was very disorganized and distracted during class. It was hard for me to keep up with the class when assignments and dates kept being changed. Take another teacher if you can.
Mrs. Pollard is the best teacher ever. I learned a lot in her class. The handouts were extremely helpful for exams. I highly recommend taking her class. I wish the intermediate and auditing classes were UC transferrable. Thanks Mrs. Pollard!
Never take this class. She is a bad teacher. Chances are you will not pass.
Meg is by and far the best teacher I've had in my college experience, and I ended up at ARC after I went to a UC. She's knowledgible, approachable, and clear. He classes are not easy, but because she is such a good teacher, you will learn!
I wouldn't say she's hard but she's harder than she should be. The class average was 74% which was mainly because people struggled on the tests. I got an A by doing and understanding all the homeworks, quizzes and practice quizzes. Don't bother reading the chapters, it's a waste of time IMO. She grades stuff fast and lectures well.
Meg is very passionate about what she teaches. Do not expect to get an easy A. You will get what you earn. She is tough, but you will leave her class with a solid understanding of the subject matter. If you need help, Meg will go the extra mile for you, if you ask. She tries to make the subject matter fun and relavent.
Managerial accounting is not the most exciting or easiest material but Meg made it interesting and easy to follow. You need to do all the work to get an A, as you should, and Meg makes this possible. I took this class over the summer and actually enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend this teacher to other people.
Dear Meg, Thank You so much for your devotion for student success. May God bless you richly for all the energy you put into your work!....for the students: Take all the classes you can with her, you won't regret it!
IT'S A VERY HARD CLASS,SHE IS A GOOD TEACHER BUT HER EXAMS ARE REALLY HARD AND SHE ALWAYS GAVE US 50 QUESTIONS TO ANSWER AND THAT WAS TOGH I RECOMEND YOU TO TAKE THE CLASS WITH HER BECAUSE SHE'S GOOD BUT SHE GAVE US ALOT OF HOMEWORK THAT WE CAN'T STUDY WELL TO THE EXAMS BECAUSE WE HAVE NO TIME TO STUDY !! TAKE ACCT 101 BEFORE YOU TAKE THIS CLASS !!
Excellent teacher.
I thought Reilly was the best accounting teacher, but professor Pollard is not worse. She is extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and passionate of what she is doing. The quizes are easy, but for exams you need to learn to succeed. It was a pleasure attending her class.
Excellent professor, she does give homework and prepares students well for intermediate accounting classes. If you are taking this class for Gen Ed,switch to a diff professor, but if you want ACCT to be part of your career, it is well worth it!
I have had Pollard for three classes already and she is one of my favorite teachers. She is able to teach a two hour long class and make time go by a bit faster than any other teacher would. I suggest any ACCT majors to enroll in her Careers In Accounting class. It is super easy and extremely helpful.
Great teacher, very helpful and smart.
Dynamic Professor! Keeps you engaged, entertained, and is very professional. Great lectures, challenging assignments and exams, continuous review in class and online help reinforces the concepts. Do the assignments and practice quizzes and you will do fine. Teacher is top class! Very fortunate to have taken this course as I learned a lot.
She is a great teacher. Her explanations are amazing.
I loved this class! I took it as a summer course and she made the 2 hour class feel like 1 hour. She used a lot of analogies to help the students understand the managerial accounting concepts. This class solidified my desire to pursue accounting as a career. Very fun class!
Great Teacher! Very clear in her lectures. Must attend class to get a full understanding of her course work. Homework and quizzes are pretty easy but her exams are rather difficult. She wants you to really understand the concepts and not just how to work through the problems. I learned a lot from taking her class.
This class was easy!! The people in my class that had trouble never asked questions, always talked to the people sitting around them, and lacked the ability to communicate in English, just read the negative posts. I never read the book and learned purely from connect -- doing the hw and using the LearnSmart flash card feature.
Amazing teacher! She wants you to succeed! She goes over hw problems with you, offers extra credit, drops 2 of your lowest hw and quizzes. As long as you do the hw, practice assignments, and practice quizzes you will be fine!
Talented and engaging professor! Both classes I've taken from her have been fun and engaging. She works very well at giving you the big picture as well as all the components that make up that accounting picture. Thank you Professor!
She doesn't stick with her own syllabus. She'll say she's going to do something helpful for the class and then doesn't follow through. She took til the last day to post final grades. Overall, I wouldn't say she's a bad teacher - she does answer your questions thoroughly, I would just say she's lazy and doesn't come through when its really needed.
Professor Pollard is an excellent instructor with an obvious passion for what she teaches. She makes time during class to answer questions and is also available outside of class.
A great teacher for a not so great subject. She is a very clear and helpful professor. Takes the time to make sure everyone understands and offers great resources to assist with the material. Doing the online HW and reading will really help you stay ahead in this class. Highly recommend!
One of the best professors! She gives you everything you need to pass with an "A".Do not expect a hand out from her, if you are one of those students, you get what you earn.
One of the best professors! She gives you everything you need to get an "A" in the class. If you are flakey student, do not expect a hand out,so don't ask.Her tests are tough, but she won't fool you.She does set Acct 111 Cost Accounting to a high standard because it is an advanced course.
Professor Pollard is absolutely super. She's funny and witty. She wants you to succeed. She's super flexible with due dates if she feels you need more time to grasp the material. She uses the connect program unfortunately which is a bit expensive, but other than that I have nothing negative to say about her. Definitely take her!
Prof Pollard, was, in short, a really good teacher. Homework and chapter exercises were all mandatory and online. Quizzes were based off of the homework assignment and tests were based on the chapter as a whole. She explained everything quite well and took time to address all questions. Drops one quiz, one assignment and one exercise. 6 exams.
Superb teacher! Expert in her field. Difficult class compared to Fin Acct. Make sure to read the chapter before the lecture to totally understand the information!
An amazing prof. I truly wish I could have her for all my classes. She makes a rather dry topic interesting. She engages the class, speaks well and gives you all the tools you need to succeed. Show up, listen, ask questions and do you homework and she makes accounting a piece of cake. The book has a 1 time code but it includes everything needed
Nicest teacher ever, is the definition of "there are no stupid questions." Explains material very well, and does homework problems in class. Quizzes are based on the homework, and she will always explain things as many times as you need. My only complaint is that exams are 70% of your grade, and they are a bit hard.
This is the best professor I have taken at American River College. She is beyond helpful and willing to do anything to help you understand the material. yes, accounting is tough, but the way she explains it makes it seem like a breeze. the quizzes are based on one hw problem and a test every 2 chapters. take her she is great!
I love Prof Meg!! She has truly laid down a good foundation for Managerial Accounting for me. Her lectures are filled with a lot of personal experience from her career and current event. She's funny and truly care about the success of her students. I wish I can take all my accounting classes from her!
Professor Pollard is the Prof to take if you want to learn the material. After her class I changed my major to accounting bc she's so amazing. However, she's not an easy A. Class Pattern: 1 hw asg. a week on the connect website due Sunday @ midnight. (4 hrs) 1 quiz mon morn from hw. every 2 weeks a test. buy physical text 4 lectures.
This is not a class where you can Google everything. That being said, professor is there at your disposal if you need any help. I failed a lot of quizzes on the Connect website but I still ended up passing the class with a B. Not an easy class when it's online and you have to learn on your own but definitely passable one if you put in the effort.
I took Financial Accounting with Professor Pollard for the Spring 2016 semester, and her amazing lectures is one of the reasons I chose accounting as my major. Her 8-week courses are pretty extensive, so expect A LOT of time to be put into work for this class. Her assignments are straightforward, and it's easy to avoid falling behind.
She is my favorite professor. She genuinely cares about her students and will try and help anyone who has questions. She is a huge reason why I love accounting. Straightforward grading criteria. Honestly just love her! Study hard and know the material and you will do great! )
I struggled in Financial Accounting, but after taking Managerial with Prof. Pollard I feel much more comfortable with the subject. She was super nice and very receptive to questions. You could tell she wanted to make sure her students were successful.
My favorite professor by far. In her lectures she really explains everything well and makes all the concept seem simple. She will help out with whatever you need in the class because she definitely cares about her students. Highly recommend!!!
Incredible professor! Make sure you go to class otherwise the homework and tests will be difficult. She explains things really well in class and does lot's of examples. All homework and tests done through Connect. Homework is easy, tests are harder but not impossible. She let's you redo the homework as practice for the tests. Would take her again!
I second everything the last one said! Great professor at explaining concepts and her examples are directly related to the HW. Tests can be tough but they're all multiple choice. Quizes are very similar to HW and also have some extra credit options. Overall take her class!
Of all the professors I've had she is by far one of my favorites. For being an online class she was so easy to get in touch with, often replying during the evenings or weekends within the hour, so helpful. More than willing to provide help when asked, clear grading criteria although you have to do the work, you know, like an adult. Excellent Prof!!
Professor Pollard is, by far, the best professor I've ever had (including the professors I had in my undergrad at Long Beach State). She really wants her students to understand, not memorize! Her lectures are application heavy so you really feel confident in the content when you do the homework. I would take every accounting class she teaches!
Happy I took Pollard, she's worth it if you can get into her Cost Accounting class that I took online. It was straight forward no mid-term or final. Do your weekly chapter discussions, summery, homework, one team project, quizzes, and exames you'll be able to pass her class. I highly recommend her and know why she's popular. She's stright forward.
Every week there is reading, a discussion, a quiz, and an exam. The exams aren't hard though and are just based on the chapter read that week. There is a comprehensive final exam at the end. I don't really like accounting, but I enjoyed the class because the professor is super sweet and gave great explanations. I'd highly recommend her for accting!
Professor Meg Pollard is very knowledgeable and she gives great feedback. Her class was online and we were on connect and all course work is on connect except discussion boards. You have read before exam and quizzes too pass them and there is a comprehensive at the end of the course which worth only 50 points. No zoom. Strongly recommend her
I'm taking her 8wk online course, and at first I was overwhelmed with the amount of work but it gets easier and you figure out a routine that works best, and before you know it all the work is done and you got a solid grade! She is always available for questions, she is very passionate about Accounting, and overall a great professor..
Every week there is a discussion board (super easy), learn smart, 1 assignment, quiz, and exam. This is a 4 unit course, so get ready to read. 1 group project (not hard). Exams: 14-20q 55min. No lectures, but professor responds quickly and can clarify some things if you don't understand.
Its accounting. Its going to be hard and eat up your time. Other than that, just focusing on the teacher and not the content, shes GREAT. Very nice and friendly. Offered a little bit of EC. Class wasnt even that bad. Just work on connect. Exams are fair. Youll have an easy disc, quiz, assignment, and exam every week. Sounds like alot B not bad
Professor Pollard is she is very passionate in teaching. She doesn't just say "Good job, good post" like some Professors... She actually reads them and gives informational fun responses. HOWEVER reason I rated this a 4, is because the work we turn in every week is a lot! If your taking the 8 week class like me, get ready to read! Hate Smartbook!
The discussion board is very easy. Very involved in the group project as she monitored everything and even gave comments during the process. Very organized and has everything you need to succeed in the class. 14 discussion (drop 7), 15 smart book (drop 2), 12 assignments (drop 1), 12 quizzes (drop 1), 12 exams (drop 1), 1 final, 1 group project.
Professor Pollard is amazing, hate to see her go. She is the best ACCT professor I had and I was happy and appreciative to be a part of her Managerial Accounting course.
