An excellent teacher, helpful, very organized, explains things clearly - has lots of quizzes which are annoying but it does help you learn. I'd highly recommend her.
brutal
Brutal. Not sure if she does know what she is teaching, you have to teach the class to yourself. Would not reccomend.. Take from Senkow!
Well, the text is your teacher. She does two or three examples in the class, and then she posts about four or five times that on WebCT, and expects you to do them all. She tests some immaterial things. Tests are long, and hard. And she pulls alot of problem type questions from those self-study problems she posts. AVOID.
horrible, terrible, your worst nightmare comes to life!
Excellent Prof. Those who do not like her are those who are NOT professional material. If you think you have to do too much work or you think she is hard - dont bother getting an accounting designation. She is clear, challenges you, and if you work hard - it is an easy A.
She is a very pleasant person and her notes are extremely neat and organized, but it is more useful to do a ton of practise questions from the text than to attend class. Too much class time is allocated to trying questions on our own then going over them togehter, when it would be more beneficial to go through more practice questions.
Worst prof at the university!
Megan is a great professor. She does expect a lot from the students. If you go to class, do the assignments, and problems from the textbook you will be fine. She gives extra study problems and past exams. There really is no surprises on the exams.
I really like her, she was very clear and you always knew what was expected of you. i think those who had problems with her just really didn't try in her class.
BUS 285: Accounting is a subject where a textbook is actually needed, but she tends to let you learn on your own, providing minimal in class examples. Prof does provide sample exams and midterms to study from which do help. Class avg of 1st midterm was 55. Second midterm class avg was 77. Ok prof, just need to know what is expected.
Avoid taking a class from Meghan at all costs!! She is the worst prof I've had, she does not explain concepts clearly and wastes class time doing exercises when she hasn't taught how to complete them. She is extremely strict about attendance, only because if she wasn't no one would probably show up to class. Take this class from someone else!!
I wouldnt say avoid at all costs but take the class from morina rennie if possible. morina challenges you without treating people like children and is just far better at explaining the concepts in a meaningful way. PS for the people who write off student's dissatisfaction to laziness, dont even try.i guarantee i got a higher mark then you suckups
She should have been a kindergarten teacher...she likes to treat students like children. Okay class...lets read paragraph 3 on page 172 together. The university seriously has to look at its hiring policies...recruit someone that can TEACH and not just because they may have managed to get some degree, etc. I got 90 in the class but not due to her!
This professor has very strict policies. I ended up with a really great grade though and I didn't find the class too awful. She does speak to you like you are a child but that is just her personality. I find all accounting professors at the UofR to be arrogant and patronizing so she fits in well. If you can, take it with Morina Rennie instead.
She knows her stuff but is very strict and expects a lot from students.
I don't know how anyone has anything bad to say about her. I thought she was absolutely amazing and so approachable. If you do the work you'll do good. She challenges you and prepares you for professional designations. University isn't supposed to be easy, you have to work to get a good mark, put some effot into it!
Much better than what people said about her. She is very approachable and makes her self available as much as possible. Shes not easy but provides you with the tools. Just make sure you have time to study she does get alitte overzealous with problems and addition study problems. Overall I have taken two classes from her and would take another.
Best accounting prof ever. She isn't boring, you can understand what she is teaching. She got a bad rep from a lot of students that took Bus 285. 285 is a required class for all students and if you don't like accounting you won't like her. If this is your major you will enjoy her class! I wish she taught the 400 level accounting courses as well!
Megan is great. The class is tough, but accounting is tough, lots of things you need to know! Megan was available all the time when a student needed her, and she genuinely cares for her students! Do the class and study problems religiously and you will be ok!
If you plan to be an accountant it is very worth it to take a class with her; either you learn it well or youll fail. If you are taking 285 only b/c its required and you plan to major in HR or Marketing then avoid Megan. She makes the tests tough but teaches the subject very well. Nice person when you meet with her but seems mean through email.
Meghan is a very nice person. She teaches the material in great detail and in turn expects you to know the material in great detail. Tests are tough but marked IMMEDIATELY. Class marks were up two days after the final. Please note that this course is quite heavy and consider taking it when you have an easier semester.
Do not take 285 with Megan Costiuk. It seems as though some may have a slight bias as to her teaching abilities, however, it is my belief that these are from 'teacher's pets' AVOID!
Extremely difficult class. A lot of assignments, long difficult exams, and attendance is mandatory. Do not take 285 from her.
Meghan is an amazing prof. She knows what she is talking about and has the work experience to back it all up. Her tests are easy if you go to class and pay attention. she never asks you something she hasn't covered in class. The text was helpful but does not compare to Meghan's knowledge. I loved having her as a prof. There's no one better!
She is good at teaching the material and gives good examples in class. However the class is very hard and the tests are also marked hard. The lab for this class is pointless and it irritates me that I have to go to it.
Megan is very passionate about accounting and is very helpful when you have a problem. You get back what you put into the course - she posts prep exams prior to midterms and finals, as well as practice assignments to help cement understanding of the subject. The lab seemed a tad pointless, and we experienced several technical issues in my section.
The class isn't easy and requires more work than most 200 level business classes but Megan is a pretty solid teacher who will go out of her way to help you learn concepts if you are willing to put the effort in.
Her lectures were so boring which made the course unclear to me. Hard Course!! Expects almost too much from students on assignments and tests, but EXTREMElY helpful and nice if you approach her.:)
She is very strict and the point of labs is such a dumb idea.
She expects a lot from the students but you will find out that you have really learned things from this class. You have to work hard to get a good grade. PPT is a good source.
be ready to work hard, EXTREMELY HARD, just to pass the class. She is strict and can be very unforgiving when marking. your either going to pass with a 60 or fail. Dont' wast your time or money, take this class with randy.
Do not take this class from her!! She will not allow anyone from writing the final if you miss 4 classes (which is ridiculous)
Knows her stuff for sure, but isn't very good at getting the message across. If you can take this class from anyone else, do so.
I do have to admit that she DOES know her material very well.. she is also very... rude. She doesnt seem to care much about her students and only really cares about getting through lectures. Youll never leave class early.. even if its by 2 mins and be prepared to work EXTREMELY hard. She teaches more stuff than Nourene but alot of it is not needed
Worst prof to take bus285 with, blamed the students for having a low class average instead of her material, labs were on stuff she didn't even cover until after the lab, took off marks for stupid stuff and was too busy with personal stuff to answer questions or answered them rudely and vaguely.
If you can teach yourself from the textbook you will be fine. Don't expect the lectures (which are mandatory) to help at all. Meghan is nice, but isn't a very good teacher.
One individual case, one group case, midterm and final. The midterm was very easy (80% average) and the cases were a mark booster. The final was tougher but if you studied it was entirely doable. You'll have to work hard, but Megan is so nice and will answer any questions. Highly recommended. (Beware, she IS a stickler for rules though)
I would rather put my arm through a meat grinder and have it fed to me as a hamburger than take another class with this woman.
Avoid!
She takes attendance every class & will notify the dean if you are missing too many. Overall, this is a tough course. Make sure you do the "optional" case because the final is the exact same. She makes her own questions for practice which was nice. Sometimes posts questions from the text. She is always friendly and expects a lot of her students.
Do not take her class. You can't miss a class even if you have a doctors note and are very sick.
Although Meaghan knows accounting, her mannerism is rude and doesnt seem to care how people take it. I do not recommend her.
Expectation is not clear. Lacking teaching skill. She also comes across pushy and lack of professional manner. Will never take her class again. A pain.
Horrible prof. Very difficult grader. Midterm averages were 56 and 57.
You spend multiple classes on application questions that are not even tested when it comes to exams. Inversely, there are tough theory questions asked frequently on the test that you do not cover in class. Comes across as nice, perception changes once you receive your grades.
Class seems easy and application questions is not tested, there are some CPA questions not even related are tested and it is so hard to remember, I can say it is not really a accounting class. Avoid taking it, I spent a lot of time on it and finally failed(My GPA is 75). Final are extremely hard, most students consider re-take ,not taking with her
Spends too much time on information that isn't tested and is a very tough marker. C
If you do all of the multiple choice Wiley Plus assignments and labs, that basically a free 20 percent. She goes through problems in class which is good but you need to do A LOT of practice problems on your own, if not you'll likely fail or get a bad mark. The two midterms averages were around 52 and 56 percent. Final average was 59 percent.
Hope you remember ever minor detail in class or you will fail. Study IFRS and ASPE even though she only teaches one side because she tests both of them. She'll give like 3 practice questions that are somewhat easy and then give a near impossible question on the exam. Know every standard (IFRS15/9 etc.) in detail or you'll lose 20% right there.
I was very weary to take this class with Megan. She was actually very good. Yes, she is a stickler for rules and can come off as terse at times, but she is very intelligent. This was one class I felt like I learned a ton in. Get a free 20% from assignments and labs. Midterms weren't super challenging, final was quite easy. Would reccomend her!
She is tough!!! Make sure you understand the differences between IFRS/ASPE... you will be tested. If you want to pass the class, make sure you nail the assignments and lab assignments!!! It will help you with your grade. The class avg for the first two midterms were around 50%... Final exam is easier than the midterm. Because the avg is low
Essentially kicked me out of her class, after the drop date. Apparently you need to complete a minimum of 10 WilleyPlus multiple answer assignments (out of a total of 13) to be eligible to write the final. I missed the first 4 due to some miscommunication. I did go back and finish them; didn't matter. She's a stickler for rules. Awaiting refund.
If you are reading this you likely do not have a choice between professors. Be sure to ace all of the assignments and labs, as midterm averages were low. Be sure to have the application and numerical questions mastered before exam's, as the theory questions are throwing darts blindfolded. Not difficult material but unclear expectations.4/10
Meghan states the rules at the beginning of the semester and sticks to them pretty tightly. She doesn't make exceptions. She has high, but clear expectations of her students, and you really have to earn your marks on exams. That being said, she gives out very fair marks on assignments/labs. Tough class, but you learn a lot!
Tough but fair. She is an excellent prof and clearly understands what she is teaching. She explains what is expected and gives valuable feedback on exams. You won't get an easy A, but you'll walk away a better student.
She explains things quite well and I found her examples easy to understand. She is strict but fair. She gives a clear explanation of what she expects. Do as much of the additional homework as you can.
You have my greatest admiration if you are taking this class with her in spring/summer. You will need to pay AT LEAST double the effort than a normal class to get a 80s. And her class is super unfriendly to international students for her case-style exam, which is not interesting at all.... But it is a great practice opportunity for Core 1 CPA tho
Megan is a GREAT prof. Took 385 with her and although she has high expectations, she is very fair. As long as you study what she did in class you will be golden. She never tests on anything that she didn't go over in class. However, if you do not put in the work it will be difficult to do good as she marks fair, not easy. Overall would take again.
Meghan criteria for exams is not clear, she would ask a question in an exam which she has not covered in class. She marks papers under a microscope and very strict about her syllabus, she is not at all flexible in that. I am a hardworking student and have my name in Dean's list but her class made me stress more than I have in my entire time at Uni
If you like getting stressed and a bad grade then only in my opinion should take Meghan. Taking Meghan was the worst decision that I took against the advice of my fellow students and seniors so its totally up to you. I would never do given the choice
Megan definetly knows the material and isnt bad at teaching it, however, her exams are absolutely ridiculous. She provides no guidance whats so ever and seems to pull random questions out that have never been discussed before. Her in class examples are very simple and exam questions are complex and very difficult. Overall would NEVER take again.
very tough
Megan is a good professor in that she can relay the concepts and makes clear what the ASPE and IFRS criteria is for accounting for leases, incomes taxes, and pensions to name a few. However, her expectations on exams is FAR to high level for a 300-level course, and her questions are pulled DIRECTLY from past CPA exams. Hmm, a bit much, but okay.
Super hard. More than half of the class did NOT pass the midterm.
The hardest Prof I've ever had, on both of the midterms (which were both squeezed into a 6 week course) the large majority of the class failed (above 80% of them), and in response she told us to work harder. She also would kick people out of the lectures for being 5 seconds late (it happened multiple times), and just had an abrasive personality.
She is a tough grader. She thinks students already know stuff. If she is intelligent then y don't answer the questions without looking at the answer sheet. I'll never ever take a class with her even I have to wait 1 year. Midterms and Finals are super hard. She thinks we are at CPA level and she'll say exams are hard because it'll help us in CPA:/
She speaks so quietly you can barely hear her from the back of the class and overall her teaching bored me to tears. Besides that, nothing is worse than listening to a monotonous lecturer talks on and on about a minor point for 3 minutes straight. Absolutely torturous.
Failed majority of the class on the midterm. Blames students. High, unclear, unreasonable expectations. Had friends that took bus285 and had a much more pleasant experience. Just think of your most stick high school teacher and thats her lol
Megan is an amazing professor. She is very skilled in teaching and communicating thoughts and expectations. She does not rush course material and she is always available outside of class. Her exams are difficult but she is preparing us for harder exams which will benefit us in the future. Work hard and you will pass.
she failed more than half of the class
When I read the reviews for Megan Costiuk's BUS285 class, I thought to myself: "she can't be THAT bad, can she?"... Was I ever naïve. Our first midterm was worth 20% and more than 60% failed and she didnt curve the grade. Then after COVID19, she changed it to 40%, making it impossible for some to even get a passing mark.
worst prof ever!
The worst proof at the university
Exam questions much more difficult than what is given in class or included on sample exams. Grating lectures. Had a few instances of glossing over points that we were later tested on. Useless feedback on exam. Majority of the class failed the midterm and likely the whole course. See other review on how COVID played into things. Avoid at all costs!
Her grading is completely unfair and she can't get to the point without spending 15 minutes talking about anecdotal examples that will make your head spin. She takes attendance every day but there aren't any attendance marks and more than half of the class failed the midterm that felt like a final exam. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!
Probably the worst prof you can take for accounting. Has little care for how well her students do in the class. Her tests are also unreasonable compared to other profs. If you can I would avoid!
The class average is a shocking 56% for an intro level accounting course. The typical average should be around 70% which shows how difficult her class is. Apart from that, her teacher style is very dull so its extremely hard to figure out what she is trying to emphasize. I deeply regret not taking others advice. AVOID HER AT ALL COST!!!!
While Megan is definitely a very difficult prof, she is also a very good one. If you pay attention to the examples in class and do the readings you will learn a lot. She makes you work for your grade but helps you learn important accounting information.
She is the worst prof & you don't really have much of a choice bcz she is the only prof who is teaching this class and to be honest she is the reason I switched my major in accounting to management. She gave me so much hard time and I have attended all the classes but what she teaches in the class is so easy but exams are super hard. Save yourself!
In winter semester 2020 Our first midterm she failed more than 60% of the students. And after covid happened she changed everything she changed our midterm from 20% to 40% and final became from 50% to10%. I am good in accounting but Im not joking you never take class with her unless if you want to struggle. Definitely take with Nola instead of her
MEGAN IS A WORST PROF ANYONE COULD EVER TAKE. SHE MADE OUR LIVES A LIVING HELL. FIRST OF ALL THE TERM EXAMS ARE SO DIFFICULT AND WE HAD PROCTOR. WE HAD TO DO THE WHOLE IDENTITY THING FIRST, WHICH CONSUMED MORE THAN 10 MINUTES. PLUS SHE DOESN'T EVEN CARE IF THE STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO SOLVE IT ON TIME OR NOT. SHE DOESN'T EVEN GIVE EXTRA TIME.
She tries her hardest to fail as many students as she could and expects you to put 10x more effort just to get a B. If you don't have time to spend 20 hours per week studying for her class then you're not gonna do well in it. I know so many people who failed her classes because they had to work part-time jobs.
Megan has to be one of the worst profs ever to get a job. How she managed to land a position at the school is beyond me. She has to be the most unqualified prof who does not give a single ounce of remorse for how she manages her students. Avoid her at all cost otherwise do not take the class with her. She can't be bothered to do her job.
Megan is probably the worst prof you could possibly take. The most unapproachable prof at this school, she will get mad at you for missing the smallest detail when emailing her and wont answer your question. Her class isn't hard as long as you do the study problems and practice test. but there is 0 support or teaching on her end. Do not take her.
The only reason I passed this class was because Megan left during the semester. She was rude, did not care about your struggles in the course, gave most of the class failing grades for the first midterm. She didnt allot time for proctortrack setup and didnt care when people couldnt get in. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS, YOU WILL CRY ON A DAILY BASIS.
Honestly confused on how she can be a professor. Every week you get a lab test that you don't even have enough time to complete and and a super lengthy assignment. She couldn't care less if people were struggling and does not help out... and then she left halfway through the semester and we had to try to learn everything from the start on our own.
Im pretty sure the only person who thinks she's a good prof is the dean. not too sure how since we literally had class discussions on how terrible she was. if you want to cry every single day and stress over endless assignments and quizes, and get frustrated by her lack of understanding- shes the prof for you!
I feel like a class average of around 35 in an intro class should be a sign that the prof is doing something wrong.... clearly isn't to her as she couldnt possible care less or curve the grades. Im pretty sure she lessened my knowledge of accounting in this class
Megan is my favourite prof that Ive ever had in university but her classes are very difficult. You will learn lots but be prepared to put in the work.
So I have taken 3 classes with her, BUS 385, 387, and 485. Definitely a hard prof, feels like a hurdle to get past. Literally don't have any options other than to take her classes. If you do all the assigned work, you should be able to get a decent grade. Tests are weighted heavily so make sure you do well in those.
This was my first time taking a class with Megan and the experience was amazing. She provides pre-recorded lectures which were very helpful since you can go back to the materials anytime. Her study problems are also very helpful to prepare you for the assignments and exams. Overall, I learned a great deal in her class. Just be prepared to read.
WORST PROF EVER!!! DO NOT TAKE HER CLASSES.
Megan is smart but she is not a very good person. She is always rude and impatient with her students because she has a massive ego and thinks she is so much better than everyone else. She also gets massive enjoyment in seeing her students fail and does absolutely nothing to help them succeed in the course. Try to avoid her at all costs if you can.
Hands down THE WORST prof at the uni. She doesn't even teach and all she does is go over 2 problems in class. I honestly have no idea how she still has her teaching certificate...
Megan is the worst professor in the University. She is not clear on her expectation on her exams and she refuses to accept assignments unless they are at the start of the class. She will not let you in the classroom if your more than five minutes late and is not great with explaining concepts.
Megan shouldn't be allowed to teach. She rushes through material and misses key concepts altogether in lectures, but her assignments/tests are ridiculously hard. She is very discouraging, but the U of R won't do anything about it because they only care about money. Neither will she, as it is easier to just recycle the same course year after year.
You should take her classes only if you want to bang your head against a wall and cry yourself to sleep every time before an exam. Otherwise, avoid her at all costs!
Megan is a worse university instructor. She does not explain course materials, so we must learn ourselves. She only does sample problem solving during regular class time. Her exams are challenging, and she is a tough grader. Students should avoid taking her courses if possible.
Megan is a worse instructor. We should avoid taking her classes.
Honestly, I can't stress this enough for anybody taking an accounting course. Avoid Megan, not because she is "tough" or because she has a reputation of having a hard class. Avoid Megan because you are paying a premium for classes here and any other Accounting Prof is a better, more equipped instructor who is not gatekeeping this profession :)
10% homework grade, 90% testing. Tests reflect the sample mid-terms closely, be familiar with those & the theory key terms & how to apply them. Megan does not teach overly well, all knowledge is gained through at-home textbook work & personal practice. This class is a grind, avoid if possible, although you probably can't. Good luck.
Run. Run far away from this professor. Wait another semester if she is your only choice for the class. She blames the bad marks on the lack of attendance, but doesn't consider the fact that she is the problem. She seems knowledgeable about managerial accounting, but there is a difference between knowing something and being able to teach it.
Living in her own world. I've never encountered a teacher that marks so hard. You will not receive half marks what so ever. The weekly assignments are easy, however, this sets you up for failure when it comes to midterms. Class average for the midterm was below passing. You might as well teach yourself this class.
Looks like megan does not want you to pass the class, her grading criteria is absurd. She wants you to have all the knowledge about the course, but not know how to teach it to students. Midterms are way too hard, you might not pass thus leading to failure in finals as well. Poor teaching skills. Tough Grader. Very unfriendly. Very SLOW.
Brutal!!! The class material isn't hard, but the wording of questions on exams are meant to trick you. Megan sets students up for failure and is proud of it. The assignments are easy marks but they don't reflect the difficulty level of exam questions at all! I told myself "This class can't be that bad", but I i was so wrong. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
I've had Megan for 4 accounting classes. She is way overhated; if you're willing to really work hard and pay close attention in the lectures, you will learn a lot and be well prepared for her exams. She is a tough grader and expects a lot out of you. My only dislike about Megan's classes are the WileyPlus assignments - I feel like I learn nothing
Megan's BUS 485 is better than her introductory and intermediate level's accounting courses (i.e. BUS 285,385). However, her term and comprehensive final examinations are still challenging and she marks them tough. Class average was 67.07%.
I am a 3rd-year student and have never had a professor as bad as Megan. None of the content in the class was difficult, but her exams are graded to make you fail. I did really well in BUS 285 with another professor, but in BUS 288 with Megan, I really struggled. If you can avoid her
Megan is a better prof than most give her credit for. She is structured and clear in her in-class instructions and examples. She provides a sample exam for all midterms and final, and they are nearly identical, so there are no surprises. But, she is a tougher grader. The content itself is not particularly difficult, but 288 covers a lot.
Megan was my instructor for BUS 385. She is rude, condescending, and unhelpful. She is one of the worst profs I had at the University of Regina and am surprised she is still qualified to be an instructor. I would avoid at all costs as she provides a very low quality of learning and education for students.
I think that Megan gets a lot of unnecessary hate. She's an excellent prof for advanced topics, and I would highly recommend taking her class. She's very clear with what she's teaching, makes sure that you are comfortable with the course material, and is willing to help if not. Sghe also takes time with her lessons, and doesn't speed through them.
This was the only worst class I had in my whole life. So please find some other prof
385 isn't an easy class to begin with, but Megan makes it that much harder. While she teaches concepts well and is very knowledgeable, her exam marking is horrible as she takes full marks for the tiniest of things. Overall, if you don't have good study habits, avoid the class.
Very strict on proper formatting and will dock marks for improper formatting on exams. Very approachable, and answers questions to the best of her ability, but is not very lenient when it comes to answers on an exam, it must be exact, or it is wrong. e-textbook (comes with Wileyplus) is cheaper + get additional practice Q's ~$98.
Her class is not designed for students to succeed she is the toughest marker on exams and will fail you by 1 or 0.5pts for tedious errors that do not affect the actual answer. Avoid at all cost for any non 400 level classes. Broke my spirit
Megan's class is a tough one, with strict grading and no room for error. While she's knowledgeable, her teaching style can be challenging. Utilize unstuck ai and other resources to stay on top of the material.
The class material is not difficult, but she does not teach. She only goes over examples, and she does not teach you how to apply the concepts. Slides are useless so I wouldn't waste my time on them. You would be better off skipping the class and using the time to read the textbook and figure it out yourself imo
This professor is very incapable, her exams are so incredibly difficult for no reason. You can complete all the recommended problems and still not know what to do on the exam. Would never take this class with her again. I'm not sure how she is still a professor.
This professor is completely out of it. Her tests are nothing like the examples you do in the textbook and are worded incredibly poorly. Would recommend staying incredibly far away from this prof... Still not sure how she is employed at the university.
I would give her a zero if I could. How she is a prof is beyond me, and I hope she reads these. Does not teach a single thing, so have fun learning 90% of the class yourself before the midterms. She seems nice, but nice does not give you a good education. Absolute 0/10 prof, UofR really needs to take a better look at who's teaching their students.
Docked me 2 marks on a midterm because my calculations were too organized? She seems like a nice person on the surface, but her exams are so hard and brutal for no reason, wording is hard to understand exactly what she's asking (IMO). Don't take this class with her if you can, but if this is your only option, take this in a lighter semester!
No point in showing up to class as you will need to teach yourself all the material. Test marking makes absolutely no sense. Avoid taking this professor at all costs.
Other reviews are blowing it way out of proportion, she's not the best teacher ever but she's good enough that you'll understand the material. Just show up to class, do the practice problems, study, and you'll do just fine. Grading criteria is very clear, just MAKE SURE to show your work on exams and read up on theory. Also, do the practice exams.
The work is hard, so do the work. If you like accounting, you will do fine. Grading is fair. She's not harsh on attendance, and she is willing to answer all your questions. Very professional. Not as bad as the other reviews say. Knows her stuff... I think she helps out with the CPA program if you're into that she is a good person to get to know.
While it's clear that Megan knows what she's doing she cannot teach. Her lectures are very slow and she is super heavy on the textbook. Not able to access in class examples and assignments without it. Hard marker and has tendencies to write passive agressive comments on exams. Class averages being incredibly low are a reflection of her teaching.
Attend class and take detailed notes on the practice problems and you will succeed. All concepts are clearly explained and not rushed through. Midterms and final examinations were fair with a heavy focus on calculation problems similar to the practice done in class. Highly recommend for BUS 485.
When she says everything can be tested she sure will be testing you on everything. Reconsidered being an accountant and rejected a job offer and went into finance jobs instead
The reason I dropped out of accounting
the class average on the first midterm this year was a 41%, that says about all you need to know about her teaching skill. fine person, not great prof.
Extremely stressful course. You have to memorize the textbook and assignments inside and out to do really well on the exams. Basically my tip for the exams is that don't expect any questions that you would expect to be tested on the exam, but the material that was barely discussed or quickly glossed over.
Megan is a great professor! I was a bit skeptical about this class after reading some of the reviews, but her lectures are super detailed and really help you prepare for the CPA. She's organized and approachable, though strict on exam rules. Since this is a 400-level course, you'll need to put in a lot of time and effort to keep up with the material
awful experience. unnecessary, harsh feedback written on my midterms. I think she likes to gatekeep who becomes an accountant. if the CPA PREP experience is this bad perhaps I will reconsider. all 4 of my classes this semester were poor quality. UofR - where youthful exuberance comes to die.
