Great professor! Currently have an A+ in the class, based off homework and tests. She drops the worst grade in both, so I will not have to take the final if I get good grades on the next two exams. Meet with her about exams and she will help significantly. Attend class, as she explains a lot during lectures that may not be on the powerpoints.
Great teacher! Lecture is very heavy, but she explains the material extremely well
Amazing Teacher, who goes slide to slide making sure each and every one of her students understands what they are doing. The class itself can be slightly challenging if you don't take it seriously, just take notes and watch videos. Hw is easy, and tests aren't hard. Responds to emails quickly.
I love Dr.Crawford! Her lectures are very informative since she likes to give examples after reading her slides' notes, allowing us to grasp the concepts better. She is very enthusiastic about teaching Biology, which has made me enjoy being in her lectures! I would recommend taking her for BIO 101!
She is a great professor. Exams were difficult for me but everyone else in my class did well. She is very nice and in depth about the material, definitely take this class.
Rarely went to lecture and still did well. There is a free online textbook that is helpful and the PowerPoint were helpful too. She acted like no one had ever heard the word genetics before. Go to SI before each test and you'll do fine. Nice prof. but I don't think her lectures were helpful.
soooooo boring it's hard to pay attention and is so lecture heavy but the exam and homework aren't too hard and there aren't many assignments
She's a very nice person and tries to talk to as many people as possible before class. I really struggled in this class; however, I've had several friends who got A's. If you take notes, do hw, go to SI sessions, and study you'll pass this class with an A or B. Attendance is not mandatory, and there's maybe like 9 hw assignments the whole class.
Great professor, posts the notes, easy homeworks, tests are fair. She provides a lot of resources and cares about her students. Would take this class again.
Loves her props, super sweet and really cares, I'm taking her again next semester :)
Dr. Crawford is an amazing professor! The powerpoints are extremely detailed and helpful and her lecture style is engaging. She is also very personable and kind. I definitely recommend taking her section!
Engaging lectures and very amenable to students asking questions. Truly wants you to succeed. Current semester split was 25% HW / 75% Exams, but the lowest exam (incl the final) will be dropped. Fairly easy to succeed if you are determined.
Super nice and offers a lot of bonus questions on exams. The final is optional, she truly cares and will help you outside of class!
Prof. Crawford was a great teacher. The lecture is incredibly boring, however, as long as you pay attention you will be fine. Every exam has extra credit built in. She gives very few homework assignments which prepare you for the exams well.
Very nice professor who cares about her students and just wants them to succeed. Lectures are very informative for the test, but she posts them so attendance is not mandatory. Always offers extra credit! Amazing professor, would definitely take her again if I could!
Dr. Crawford is an amazing professor. She takes so much time out of her days to meet with students and make sure that they succeed. She knows it is a hard course and gives her students a lot of grace. Very minimal workload. 5 exams but final is optional and lowest grade gets dropped. I would definitely recommend Dr. Crawford!
I love Dr. Crawford! She is great at teaching biology especially to people who have never taken it before. Powerpoints have all of the information needed to take exams, so it's not necessary to go to lectures, but they are still very beneficial and worth going to. She gives a lot of extra credit questions on exams and the lowest score is dropped.
Dr. Crawford is by far the best professor at UofSC I have had so far. I just finished my first semester. She has made the learning easy and enjoyable. I highly recommend that anyone who needs BIOL 101 or 102 takes her. She provides slides and textbook resources. They cover all the information any student in her class will need.
Crawford is great! Her classes are very lecture heavy but she tries to keep you engaged! Tests are normally easy and to the point. She puts many extra credit questions on the exams to help. She is very understanding and a very nice person!
Dr. Crawford is a mom and it shows. She understands that college kids have busy schedules and tries her best to make the class doable and have you succeed. I have her for Bio 102 next semester and can't wait!
This was Dr. Crawford's first semester teaching at college as she was previously a high school teacher, but she has done great. She gives a lot of extra credit on exams, you get two attempts at homework that are open note, attendance isn't required but is suggested. Her lectures are just over the slides which she does post. Overall very caring.
She is the best teacher I've ever had. She explains topics very well and makes sure her students are understanding what she is saying. She also gives lots of very helpful resources for each test. The tests aren't super hard if you put in some effort, and everything on them is mentioned in class. She genuinely cares about her students' success.
Lectures are pretty standard as she just reads off the PowerPoints she's created. Attendance isn't mandatory but definitely helps as she explains concepts in more depth and with props in class. Each unit has two homework assignments and students get two attempts on each. Her tests aren't overly difficult but you should be prepared to study for them
One of the best professors that I have ever had. Attendance is not mandatory, but is definitely recommended to do good on exams. Overall for the course the amount of work is fair she is caring and wants to see you succeed in the class.
Dr. Crawford is a great professor who cares about her students. She always seemed like she was passionate about what she was teaching and was always ready to answer questions. My only problem was that I took her class TTh and it frequently felt like she was rushing through slides, so if I were to take her again, I would do it MWF.
Very note-heavy. Gives exam reviews which help but do not help that much best thing to do is read through the notes every day after class and memorize all of the processes and how they happen. She really cares about students she spends class time talking about ways to study. Exams are very detailed and would study more than basics.
Dr. Crawford is a good professor, the exams are detailed, so if you want to do well it's important that you understand the small details. 2 open-note homework per unit with 2 attempts, all answers were easy to find in the notes, on google, or in the free online textbook. Lectures were rather boring, because she read off the slide, but doable.
Dr. Crawford was an amazing bio teacher who really cared about her students. She talked in class about ways to study. This class is very note heavy but also pay attention to the small details she may add in her lecture. She makes the exams detailed but if you read the notes over you will be fine. she also gives a good bit of bonus questions.
Great biology 101 professor! She drops the lowest exam grade making it possible for you to exempt the final. weekly homework assignments are easy. you will need to take a lot of notes! she gives study guides but I didn't find them that helpful. Overall you should get an A if you put in the work.
The lectures are good, attendance isn't mandatory but that's the only way you're going to pass the class. Exams are worth 75% of grade and you take five, she drops the lowest. Only 8 HW assignments all year, 15 question quizzes that she lets you take twice which is basically practice exams. Spends time after class to answer all questions.
I would definitely take Professor Crawford. The course material can be challenging, but she gives you the resources you need to succeed.
Dr. Crawford is an amazing professor! She outlines her course very clearly, and students know exactly what they need to do to pass with an A. She makes biology easily understandable, even though sometimes it was difficult. The final exam is optional if you are satisfied with your grade in the class, and she offers extra credit within the exams! :)
Mrs. Crawford was a pretty relaxed teacher. Attendance wasn't mandatory, there was an absurd amount of exam prep you could work with, and the tests had extra credit. All the material you need to know is on the lecture slides also so you can take this class from home if you want.
She is an amazing Professor who makes lectures interesting and truly cares for all her students.
She is so sweet and understanding. Homework is super easy, exams can be difficult but if you study for a few days before they are pretty easy. 50 questions and she gives 6-10 extra credit questions at the end of most exams.
She was a great professor and is always checking in on students. Her lectures are very detailed and are easy to follow along with.
I had her for both Bio 101 and 102 and I could not recommend her enough. You do have to study in order to do good but her exams are extremely straightforward. She rarely gives homework and the exams are online. She truly cares about the success of her students and is a great teacher. Text-book is optional and not necessary.
Dr. Crawford is a great professor. The slides she teaches off of are very direct. She also gives extra credit on the exams, and gives different interactives and videos to help study. Also, the final is optional if you are ok with your grade.
Amazing professor, kind and caring to all students. Make sure to do homework and come to lectures for the easiest A of your life. Strongly recommended this professor.
Attendance is not mandatory as she reads off slides. Two attempts on homework, provides study guides for tests, and extra credit questions on test. She's a good professor and this is my second semester taking her course. She provides more content than needed and you must study well to do good on tests. She's good but there are easer professors.
Attendance optional, all powerpoints posted online, but I would urge you to go as she gives engaging and interesting lectures. 4 modules, 4 exams, 2 easy homeworks for each module. She drops your lowest exam grade (including the final, so you can exempt if you do well on the other 4 exams). Overall a great class, you learn a lot and it's an easy A.
I love Prof. Crawford!! This is my second semester taking her and she is still great! BIOL 102 is the same structure as her BIOL 101, drops lowest hw and exam grade (including the final). There is a lot of content for each exam however the exam questions are pretty general. This is her first year teaching here and she has done amazing!!
Dr. Crawford is AMAZING. I have had her the past 2 semesters for BIO101 and BIO102, and have loved having her as a professor. The classes are very lecture-heavy, but if you review the slides and quizlets its an easy A
to be completely honest, do not take her if you do not have a good study technique established. she gives hard tests that seem like common sense but you need to know the material. very lecture-heavy. i had her tues/thrus from 11:40 to 12:50 and we rushed thru a lot of content and it was lecture-dense! interesting individual and mid-class overall :/
Professor Crawford is the best! There was four exams, 8 HW assignments (which were basically just quizzes), and a final which you could exempt if you were happy with your grade. All of the exams had extra credit points and the homework assignments were completely open note and you have 2 attempts. Also lots of study materials provided as well!
Dr. Crawford truly cares about her students, and that is evident in the countless study materials she makes and study advice she gives to everyone. 75/25 split of tests and homework, respectively. 5 overall tests (incl final) with highest 4 grades considered in final average (i.e., final is exemptible). Vocabulary-dense class, but just study! :]
I took bio 101 and 102 with Dr. Cawford; she is one of the best profs I've had. She cares about her students and gives them many opportunities to do well in her class. Great professor, I would take her class again.
Lovely lady, makes bio interesting. Her exams were hit or miss with the difficulty. If you study and attend majority of the lectures you will do well. Optional final.
She covers everything you need in class, so the textbook is only there if you don't understand a topic (she showed us a free version). She drops your lowest test and quiz grade, and her exams are pretty easy if you attend lecture. She is very kind and helpful, and is more than happy to answer questions.
Very easy! 5 tests including the final, 9 homeworks, the lowest of each was dropped, if you liked your grade before the final, you didn't have to take it! The best way to know what's on exams is pay attention to what she focuses on in lectures. Take time between your 2 homework attempts to find the right answers cause the questions don't change.
Professor Crawford is amazing nothing else needs to be said take her!
Cool professor. Optional final exam, easy to make A if you use Quizlet and memorize. I would argue the lab counterpart is harder than this class. You have two tries on HWs, meaning you can remember what you got right and fix it on the second try. Exams a bit difficult bc you have 50 minutes to answer 50 questions. Overall easy class.
Professor is super nice. Attendance and textbooks are optional. However, she mainly reads directly off her slides during lectures. Exams are easy only if you study and final is optional if you are happy with your grade.
Dr. Crawford is an amazing professor. While attendance isn't mandatory her lectures make the class worth going to. There aren't very many grades for the class so you need to make sure you study to do well, but that's just the nature of a bio course. 10-12 extra credit points on exams, and lowest is dropped (including final).
I had Professor Crawford for BIO 101 and BIO 102. She is personable and cares about students. The class is heavily graded on tests, but the final is optional. Great professor!
All time favorite teacher here. The lectures have a ton of slides but she highlights what you need to know and is very enthusiastic about her job. I had her for BIO 101 and 102 and actually enjoyed attending class. Final is optional but you NEED to study for exams.
I took Crawford for both 101 and 102. Her lectures are long, and tests are insane. Two answers always sound right. But, her final exams are insanely easy and lot's of easy extra credit questions were given on them. She drops the lowest HW and test grade, which are the only grades in the grade book. Overall a nice lady and okay professor.
Dr. Crawford is AMAZING had her for 101 too. She gives you such a good foundation fitted for later courses. Makes lectures fun interesting with real life stories and examples. Its a lost if missed. She understands situations and is willing to provide everything you need for success in the course. Take her. She's really a really nice and caring prof
Dr. Crawford is an amazing professor! I took her for BIOL101 and 102, and I can assure that she cares a ton about the wellbeing and success of her students. Her exams can be kind of difficult, but she offers a lot of extra credit within the exams. Final exam is optional if you are satisfied with your overall grade in the course!
The lectures can be a lot at once for a new freshman. She goes through material very quickly but with some work outside of class you can keep up. The effort you put in is what you will get out of it. Dropping lowest test is very nice!
Absolutely LOVED Professor Crawford. She would walk around before every class and talk to people; she is so kind. Everything you needed to know for the exams was in the PowerPoints she lectured with, so attendance is not required. She also works hard to provide vocab lists and study guides to make life easier for us. Easy, yet fun class!
Amazing Biology teacher! She gives great lectures and posts all of the notes. The tests do cover a lot of material, but they are pretty straightforward. If you study the material, you will have no problem doing well.
Super nice teacher. Classes can be a bit boring sometimes but she tries to make it interesting. She is very approachable as well and will try her best to help you with things you don't understand. Makes vocab list for exam that tells you every word you should know for exams and gives extra videos for studying. Not many things you get graded from.
Love Megan Crawford. She was a high school teacher, so she has that kind of teaching if that makes sense. She doesn't take attendance, but going to class will definitely help you out. She does post all slides on blackboard, so if you miss class every now and then you should be fine. She also drops lowest exam/homework grades. Exam 2 is the hardest.
Professor Crawford is a sweetheart. She really tries to keep the class engaged and makes sure you understand. Her testing is slightly annoying because she asks questions about the concepts instead of direct questions if that makes sense. you really have to make sure you understand what is going on. she offers study guides which really helped.
Best professor ever! You definitely have to study or else you won't do well in the class, I try to read the chapter before she goes over it in class. She is very understanding and laid back. Barely any homework and she drops the lowest test and homework grade.
Professor Crawford is the best! She is passionate about biology and teaching, and it really shows. I DEFINITELY recommend going to lectures for her explanations, plus she's just great. The exams weren't too bad and she gave 10% worth of extra credit on each one (max score: 110% per exam) . She drops your lowest exam. Visit her for office hours!!
Reads off slides but she also tells you the majority of information that will be on tests in class. She gives you "homework" that has two attempts and a week to do, there's 2 each unit, and drops the lowest. If you do her vocab lists and study the exams are managable! I loved this class and am going to take her again!
Dr.Crawford was an easy bio professor. I never went to class and still ended up with a B-. She drops the lowest exam and HW grade so final isn't required if you're happy with your grade. All exams were online with a lot of extra credit.
I love Dr.Crawford, she's super sweet and really cares about her students. Lowest HW and test grade is dropped, so if you do well enough in the class you can exempt the final. Class only has a 9 HW assignments, 4 tests, and a final, so you need to do well on everything. HW = 25%, Tests = 75% of your grade. Attendance isn't mandatory :)
I love Professor Crawford!! She is so sweet and understanding that students also have a life. She truly wants all her students to do well and makes this easy to accomplish with her class set up. Very responsive and willing to step in and help. Gives lots of resources to ensure success.
She's amazing; you don't have to go to lectures, but it's good too, but she'll give you extra things (that could be a bonus on the test) that aren't just on the slides. Materila is a lot to memorize, but tests are doable. Also offers a lot of bonuses; she's amazing and loves to connect with students!
Mrs. Crawford is truly a great professor. She is good at relaying some of her content to real life so it's easier to understand. Only homework and tests, but the homework can be redone for a higher grade. Hardest part are the tests, but high homework grades can cushion your final grade after a test. Really nice lady and willing to help also.
She truly cares so much about her students, and you can tell that she loves what she teaches. She provides so many tools to understand the information better and explains the content in a way that makes it so much easier to understand. She drops the lowest homework and exam grades and provides many extra credit points on exams.
Professor Crawford is amazing! She is truly a great teacher, however you have to study a good amount for the tests. The tests material is always covered in the slides, but they cover a lot.
Class lecture are very informative, she posts the notes on blackboard. Exams are online. Very good teacher she is a must!
Loved Dr. Crawford for Bio 101, her expectations were very clear and manageable and she dropped the lowest exam grade! She gives a lot of opportunities for extra credit on exams and also is super caring and talks to everyone before the class starts. Highly recommend taking her for 101!!
She is a great professor and you can tell she really cares about what she does, attendance is not mandatory and all the notes are posted on blackboard, the lowest homework and exam grade get dropped at the end of the semester and youll be able to do good if you apply yourself.
She was so nice and cared so much about the success of her students. Her lectures were very easy to understand and she kept the class engaged. The classes were never boring. Her tests were fair and as long as you go to class and look over her materials, you will be fine. She also just makes the stuff that she's teaching interesting.
EXAMS ARE VERY HARD. Very nice lady. There's 4, 50-question exams and a 100-question final; all have extra credit too, but the exams are very analytical and very very hard. You get 50 minutes on each exam; 100 minutes on the final. Also 9 open-web quizzes. However, lowest quiz and lowest exam (including final) are dropped. Know how to study!!!
I LOVE HER! Truly one of the best. She cares deeply about her students and her lectures are so engaging. She makes them so fun and interesting & she actually takes time to get to know her students. Tests are a little hard but if you study, you will be fine. HWs are super easy & gives a week to get them done. I cannot rave about her more, TAKE HER!
Really enjoyed Professor Crawford's class, you can tell she really cares about students. The class was pretty easy in my opinion and you could still get an A, and barely show up. Exams and homework are super straight to the point and she even drops the lowest exam and homework grade. She makes it nearly impossible to do poorly in the class.
Crawford is one of my favorite teachers. Her lectures are so hands-on when she uses demonstrations to accompany topics. The more difficult topics are easily understood through her clear and concise directions. I will be taking her again this semester because I loved her so much
I highly recommend you take any biology class with Dr. Crawford!! She is very passionate about her job and provides the class with so many resources that help students succeed in the course. She does give homework but its easy, test are based on her study guide and homework!!!!
Dr.Crawford is truly a professor that cares about her students. She makes a 300 person lecture hall feel a lot smaller by walking around the room talking to her students. Her tests are straight forward and she provides you with a study guide. By far, one of my most favorite professors I have had!!!
Dr. Crawford is a great biology teacher who makes concepts easy to understand and keeps lessons engaging. Her clear and approachable teaching style really helps. It was a pleasant surprise to have her again, since she was also my high school biology teacher; it feels comforting to be back in her class.
Such effective teaching methods. I used to be so bad at bio but she makes the whole class so manageable. Attendance is not mandatory but the lectures help so much. She drops the lowest test and homework grade which helps so much. She also gives you a study guide that will guarantee you an A on the exam.
There is a lot of material in this class! However, she likes to rush through the slides and try and fit 3 lessons within one class period. Her homework and exams are not as straightforward as the material she presents and are pretty difficult. If you put any effort in at all you can get a decent grade but can be frustrating.
If you do not have too I wouldn't take Megan Crawford.
Megan Crawford was my Bio 102 professor and she was truly amazing! I would definitely recommend taking her if you have to take Bio 101 or 102! Her class consisted of 4 exams plus a final which can drop your lowest exam grade. She also had homework's but they went along with the slideshows!
Was told to take this teacher, big mistake don't do it
One of the nicest professors i've ever had. She really cares about her students and wants them to understand and do well in the class. Lots of extra credit opportunities on tests, I usually got over 100%. Not a hard class at all and she makes it even easier with her teaching style. Definitely take her
Crawford is a great professor! If you want to review material before an exam, go see her during her office hours, and she will be a great help! If she taught higher-level courses, I would definitely take her again! Her exams are a bit more of an apply your knowledge than a simple, straightforward question, but not a hard or unfair question at all!!
The homework is easy 100s but the exams do not reflect the lectures, you'd have to study a lot unless bio 102 comes naturally to you. Online tests but shes really strict about it and when you ask her questions about the exam she doesn't really help. The exams are like 60 questions and you get 50 minutes.
I would reccomend not taking her. I was lied to by the ratings, her exams are pretty difficult and she crams so much information into the lectures that taking notes is really difficult. If you can devote almost all your time to a class, then take this. If not, trust me do not take her. Shes a nice lady though.
She has been one of the best professors I've had! I took her for both BIO 101 & 102. It is very structured and outlined (4 tests, 2 homeworks per test unit). The HW is very easy, tests aren't too hard but they are more apply your knowledge based. She drops lowest HW & test grade so if you have an A by the 4th test you are exempt from the final!!
She is funny and nice and the material is pretty easy to learn. Her lectures I wouldn't say give much more than her powerpoints, and I often was able to just teach myself the material. Attendance was not mandatory which was nice.
I love her, she cares about all of her students. However, so much content is crammed into one lecture it is hard to retain. Homework and study guides aren't like the exams so study everything. Plan to attend lecture or you can get behind fast. Homework is easy but she encourages you to google a lot of stuff.
Super nice professor! She does care about her students and she explains everything well in her lectures. Optional Final and drops lowest homework.
I took Megan for bio 101 and I registered to take bio 102 with her as well next semester! Attendance isn't mandatory which is really nice. You need to study to get a good grade in this class. There is a lot of content covered in lectures and the exams are very application based. She also has extra credit questions on exams which helps a lot.
I took Prof Crawford for both Bio101 and 102 and was very successful in both. The lectures are not mandatory but she tells you what's going to be on the exams when you go. She mostly lectures with powerpoint but she makes them engaging and doesn't go more in depth than she needs to (and if she does, she doesn't test you on it). She's great
Professor Crawford was easily the best professor I've had in college. She's very upbeat and came to class with a smile every time and would go around talking to the students. She was very personable and really wanted us to understand the subject matter. If biology isn't your thing, this class require some studying but only about an hour a day.
Great professor!!! She is so sweet, loves what she. teaches, and very helpful. Definitely take her!
Not much work was required out of class other than two homeworks per unit, however, you must study in order to pass the exams. I found myself doing better in the class when I wasn't paying attention in lectures and taught myself a majority of the class.
Love her! At least 10 extra credit in all exams, the final is optional. You get two attempts in the hw (you'll get an A on them) Lecture can be kinda boring but she tries her best. Use amoeba sisters and yt to help understand tough concepts (like for exam 2). Study starting a week before exam, and you'll be good (use quizlet). Taking her for 102!
She is really nice, you can tell she is really passionate about biology and the subject as a whole. The class is not very hard and there is not many homework assignments. The class it is helpful to go to class, it really helps you better understand the material. If you remember the vocab and really know it then you will do fine on the tests.
absolutely loved her she makes lecture so fun. i wish she was teaching more bio courses! class is easy if u study.
Dr. Crawford is amazing, I can't recommend her enough. She gives you study guides for each test and has extra credit questions. If you attend lectures and study, an A is easily achievable.
GREAT PROFESSOR! I had her for both Bio 101 and 102 and she is amazing! Knows that the majority of the class are freshman and knows how to explain the material in a way that people that are experiencing a college level class for the first time can understand it. Very helpful in office hours and her exams are very fair. Incredibly organized!
Shes a fine person but she is just really heavy on vocab, I was lied to by the reviews- don't take
If you have to take bio 101 or 102, this is the professor you want, hands down. Best biology professor at usc in my experience.
Attendance not required but HIGHLY recommend going. She says what will/won't be on the test in class. 2 attempts on homework, open note. She explains well, but information can be a little boring. Tests cover a lot of information. Just stay on top of the lessons and start studying early and you will be fine. Tests are online during class time.
Professor Crawford is amazing! Very clear grading and she makes her tests every unit from the study guide given to the students. Attendance is not mandatory but she discusses test questions in class so go! Easy A if you do your homework and would definitely recommend.
She is the type of professor you should expect to have in college, wish all my professors were like her. she is very honest on difficulty of exams and give great study advice. I really wish I could take more classes with Dr. Crawford.
If you have to take BIO 101 or 102, take Crawford!!!! She is so caring and truly cares about each and every one of her students. She is super engaging in lectures and always brings props to further explain the lessons! Four exams (75%), final is optional, homework is minimal (25%) and she always offers at least 10 extra credit points on each exam!
Lectures are long and can drag on but she bolds and highlights what you need to know. She also provides study guides and lots of other materials. There are two open note homeworks per each exam which help boost grades. Overall the class was easy if you do some studying.
Megan is such a caring and passionate professor I never got board of her lectures I learned so much. I will say there is a lot of material so studying is necessary for the exams. The final was optional if we were happy with our grade and she drops the lowest homework grade. Such a sweet and caring professor I recommend for sure.
only benefits: lowest hw and exam dropped, and online multiple choice exams. Shes not an easy teacher exams are really hard and require so much studying unless you're a bio genius. She gives you SO much content and only half of it's important for the exams, but you never know what is. Its a miracle i'm getting a B & this is my lowest grade ever.
Literally IMPOSSIBLE to get below an A in the class, she's a great professor who has very easy tests. Those complaining about getting a B is just a skill issue.
Dr. Crawford is a very nice person and cares about her students. Her lectures are all from powerpoints and posted on BB. I wish there was more in-class exam reviews before the test, as the study guides were not very helpful for what was going to be on each exam because it was just everything we had learned in the unit.
I took her for 101 and 102 and I would take her for every other bio class if I could! She is very predictable on tests and if you put in the effort and study you will pass with an A! This class requires studying and time outside of class as does any bio course, but she was great at teaching topics. Final is optional. TAKE HER!!!
Exams were easy and she gives multiple chances for extra points. Lowest exam gets dropped. Attendance isn't mandatory, but Dr. Crawford does an amazing job explaining difficult concepts. You get 2 attempts on homework. EASY A!
Mrs. Crawford is an amazing biology teacher, I have never understood biology as well as I did with her. She is very nice and funny, and coming to class will benefit you heavily, even though attendance isn't mandatory.
Had her for BIOL 101 & 102. She grades on exams and does not waste time on group projects or busy work. The study guides are key for exams and are learn-and-apply. Final grade is based on 4 multiple choice exams and HW. Lowest exam and homework grades are dropped. Final is optional. If you test well, take her; if not, this class may not be for you.
I absolutely LOVEDDD Dr. Crawford! She is a great professor and you can tell she want you to get a good grade. 4 test (50 questions each) and 2 HW assignments per module (2 chances). For test focus completely on the Study Guides. Lecture heavy, but should get an A in course if you pay attention and write your notes.
She is very nice and accommodating. She teaches more than what is on the exams and is good about saying what will and won't be on exams. But sometimes it gets slightly confusing. Overall, a super good professor!
Very strict, material in lecture never matches material on exams..
Attendance not required but highly recommend going to the lectures. Very great professor cares about students, wants students to learn, brings in visuals to help learn better. Exams could be hard if you do not study but if you study for the exams you will be perfectly fine.
Very easy class. Crawford takes her material too seriously. Ego problem. Will get upset with you if you do good on her exams but do not go to class. Reported me and, in her words, "hundreds of students" on the week of finals for cheating since many people did good on 4th exam but did not answer her bonus question about her correctly. Waste of time.
Great teacher who cares about her students. Lectures were always interesting. The exams were a lot harder than any of the HW IMO, so make sure you study. I know people who did great and people who didnt. There is lots of extra credit on exams to. All exams on respondus. 2 homework for every module. great teacher im just not strong at bio
Perfect level of difficulty for a college class in my opinion. She tries her best to connect with her students in class, and is generally a very kind person. The only thing I will say is that she is strict on her deadlines and testing windows, but she is very clear about her expectations.
Tests are based on study guides that she provides for you. This course is generally a lot of information to absorb, so it felt a bit rushed during some of her lectures. However, overall, she is one of my favorite professors I've had so far.
She was so lecture heavy that it was unbearable. Her "study guides" didn't correlate with her exams. She is very egotistical, and belives her exams and class are superior to eveyrone. If you have options DO NOT take her! She thrives on reporting people to academic integrity, she would constantly gloat about it. She would watch every lockdown video.
Love the way she lectures
She is great. She drops the lowest exam and hw. However, exams are crucial b/c those hw and exams are basically the only 2 grades. There may be a lot of info, but she has good notes with everything you need. Lectures are packed, but she truly wants her students to thrive, and everything she says makes sense more than other teachers.
Great professor! She truly wants her students to do well. Lectures can be very info heavy and tests are hard due to a great deal of memorization but she tries to break down content as much as she can. Overall I would recommend!
Absolutely love her! Attendance is not mandatory but going to class and listening to her lectures helps me digest the content a whole lot better. Test are pretty hard but she provides so many resources to help you succeed. 10/10 would recommend and hoping to take her 102 class next semester!
I'd say if you arent a good test taker def dont take her. Your grade will basically reflect exam grades bc theres just a couple homeworks. Attendance isnt mandatory and posts slideshows on BB. I've done well on all exams so far, key for me is being able to recite/teach all the info from slides back to someone else/myself.
Dr. Crawford is very good at fleshing out the material. Attendance isn't counted but for the harder subjects I would definitely attend the lectures. Her study guides are basically the key to the exams, and she posts so much material in blackboard if your struggling even after the lectures. She provides a website to get the textbook for free. 10/10
By far my favorite professor! She is so genuine and caring. If you ever have any problems or questions she will always answer them and she provides extra credit and good test prep. Biology can be hard but If you attend and pay attention during lectures (which are interesting) you will be fine, I didn't score below a 100 on any of her exams.
She does not try to make things as easy as possible. She provides a free version of the textbook, but you don't need it for any exams or homework. The exams make up the majority of your grade, but I got all As by purely studying the PowerPoints that she posts for lectures. The final is optional, so as long as you study, you can pass without it.
Professor Crawford is amazing! all of the people on here saying her study guides do not match her exams are entirely incorrect. Her study guides are basically the entire exam, and her slides are highlighted with the certain parts that are going to be on the exam. Very nice person and gives 10 points of possible extra credit on each exam.
Professor Crawford is a very sweet and caring instructor. She actually wants her students to pass and sets them up for success. Attendance is not mandatory, but I would recommend going because information is easier to understand when you hear her explain. Great professor, I took her for 101 and registered for her section again for 102.
She cares and actually wants her students to pass
If you can take Megan Crawford for any class, TAKE HER she is AMAZING. She has the absolute best energy all throughout the semester and genuinely cares for her students to perform well. Bio 102 has a lot of material you need to study thoroughly, but she provides great resources to help you perform well. By far the best professor at USC I've had!
I loved having her for 101 and will be taking her for 102. She is genuinely so funny and tries to make every lecture interesting. Easy class, I have above a 100 average because of extra credit on tests. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you miss one class it will feel like you missed a month. Just very content packed lectures, but easy to follow.
Crawford is the best professor ive ever had I can't recommend her more. The class content is tough but she teaches it sooo well and her lectures are great. She used to be a high school teacher so her teaching style feels familiar.
Lectures are very detailed. She is very passionate about what she is teaching. Wants you to succeed.
Professor Crawford is genuinely sooo good at her job, she is truly passionate about what she does, and she explains everything so amazingly, she makes longgg content heavy class as engaging as she possibly can, she doesn't just read off the slides. she really justs wants all of her students to pass
Even though all that is done is lectures, her lectures are basically directly what is going to be on the test. And her tests are multiple choice, so it makes it not too difficult of a course if you're willing to simply listen to lectures and take notes.
TAKE DR. CRAWFORD! I had Crawford for Bio 101 and 102 and she is truly my favorite professor I've ever had! She makes the material interesting and easy to understand. While attendance is optional, I recommend going to class. Homework (open notes) is 25% and the 4 exams and 1 final are 75% (you can drop the lowest). I love her with my whole heart!!!
She is very kind and genuine and wants to support her students. Content is taught in an easy to understand way. If you come to class and take notes on what she talks about in class not just whats on the slides you will pass.
She was a great professor, but lectures were very concept heavy and so were tests, but as long as you attend class and STUDY you'll do great in her class!
She drops your lowest quiz and homework so it makes it really easy to improve your grade. Her bio class is easier than other professors
This class is definitely challenging but if you show up to the lectures and study you will do fine. She truly does care about her students and if you attend class she gives in depth explanations about the slides. She drops the lowest test and homework grade, and posts the slides online. Definitely would take her for BIOL102.
simple and straightforward expectations and guidelines. attendance to lectures is optional but they are useful so i'd recommend going to them. took ap bio in highschool and this was pretty similar to that, so i didn't have to have to study much.
Biology is my worst subject, but this teacher will reach out to you even through a huge lecture class. Her lectures are heavy, but she'll make sure everyone is on the same page and understands before moving on. Before class, she'll walk around and ask questions to ensure you're on the right page; she's terrific.
Take her class!! Attendance is not mandatory, and she posts the slides ahead of class. She is a phenomenal professor, and I wish I was able to get her for 102.
I had her for Bio 101 and 102, she is literally the best it gets. She makes difficult topics easy to understand, attendence is optional, and she adds 10 points extra credit to each exam. Take her if you can!
I absolutely loved having Dr. Crawford for BIOL 101. She was kind, super easy to contact, and genuinely cared about students. Lectures were long but super informative, she gave multiple attempts on homework, and clearly communicated the criteria (final exam was optional!!). If you get the opportunity, TAKE HER CLASS!! She is a literal blessing.
