Talk about a class that makes 50 min. fly by! So fun and humorous, really tries to engage the student on the material being covered!! Teachers like these make you want to go to class. You won't be disappointed! Fun to learn from. Super easy, easy A!
Great class, take it for GE req, you wont regret it. Allows notes for all quizzes and rarely assins homework which is simple.
Great Teacher. Class is a lot of fun and goes by fast. Make sure you don't miss class too often. Relates well to students. Would take again 4 sure.
Megan is one of my fave teacher's at DVC now. Awesome teacher, interesting class, very easy class as long as you attend. Attendance is a must. Allows notes for tests, Extra Cred., late homework; basically everything works for her! Would take all her classes if I could.
She's a really great teacher, let's you use full page notes on all tests, really easy A, super interesting class, she also knows the coolest people (her sibs know celebrities). Just show up to class, she hates it when people come in late, and do your work, you'll get an A.
I had her for a weekend class at Alameda, so I don't know how hard her "regular" classes are, but I highly reccomend her even if they are hard. She is so entertaining, and extremely well read. She really know's what she's talking about and knows how to relate it to her students.
I loved Megans class! She makes you want to listen and learn because she is so easy going and smart! I would take another one of her classes in a second! ;)
She is a very nice teacher, she had interesting lectures, and went over testing material so you know exactly what is on the test. Not too much homework. Make sure you are on time, she gets very irritated with late people. I would recommend taking her classes
the best teacher ever! she give you opportunities to re-do your hw until u are happy with the grade you have. her test and quizes are straight out of the book/class notes/movies. he pratically hand you the A.
Megan is one of my favorite teachers at DVC. She's beautiful, smart and her lectures are never boring (this especially means alot since I had a class with her that lasted 3 hrs). If you're willing to open your mind and learn, then you won't be disappointed.
fun and easy going teacher, sometimes very silly, but very clear on her teachings. test easy, HW easy with Re-do, but class attendance and participation a pain in the ass to keep up! you have to be there every class and raise your to discuss in class 2-3 times in order to get a good participation grade
i took critical thinking humanities over the summer. this class was very hard and somewhat interesting. lots of reading and writing. a test every week but you can use 1 page notes. she accepts late work and is very nice and full of energy. she is a VERY hard grader and gives out VERY little points for assignments.
class is seemingly easy but it is critical that you do the HW it influences ur grade a lot test are very easy no note taking at all just her PP presentations attendance is MANDATORY all in all class is easy but if u don't do the hw or show up to class your grade will go down significantly she is nice though and pretty she swears alot too
great teacher....very helpful...makes the content easy to learn...she wants you to do well if you are willing to try.
Not boring, will let u redo hw if turned in on time. Most of her notes are on web ct which makes it really easy to study for mid terms and finals. Overall great class, just make sure your there and it will be smooth sailing!
Awesome teacher and awesome class!! Came in with no interest in the subject matter and walked out with a wealth of knowledge about the modern world. Highly recommended!
Great teacher, looks young, acts young. Do hmwk, pay attention and you should do fine on the scantrons.
Took her class this summer and I'm glad I did. She is very smart and knows her stuff well. She keeps the subject matter energetic and interesting. It's easy to get an A if you do your homework, come to class and study before each exam.
She is really nice and always in a good mood. Her lecture are always on WebCT so you can review them. Grades given for participation and attendance. If you do well on the homework, you can get a 0 in participation and still get an A, i'm an example. Homework is not bad either, doesn't take too long as long as you understand material.
Always available to offer extra help. A lot of extra information is brought to class from Megan as well as students, who are happily engaged in participation. Fun class all in all.
Megan will fail you in participation for not raising your hand and talking aloud to the class. Her lectures seem to drag on with little relevance to the topic. She likes to waste time by showing movies and videos and putting her students into groups to do "group discussions" even though were just sitting around not doing anything. No laptops allowed
Megan is a hard grader. She will deduct points from your writing assignment and not give you a valid explanation of why points were deducted. She also grades on participation therefore if you don't raise your hand you won't get better than a C. Her lectures are boring as well.
college isn't suppose to be a walk in the park. this is definitely a class you will enjoy going to, therefore enjoy working hard in it, therefore earn a good grade. she can tell if you're trying to float by and it will reflect on your grade. clear, concise, and engaging, exactly as a college professor should be.
THIS IS THE BEST CLASS I HAVE EVER TAKEN! I never thought I could engage myself into the art world, but it happened! Megan is the best, although she does grade hard which pushes the students to do better! LOVE THE CLASS AND I RECOMMEND IT TO EVERYONE WHO WANTS TO TAKE A CLASS TO LEARN AND HAVE FUN!
If you can't speak up in class, don't take her! Not an approachable teacher and does not give clear instructions, lets you use a two-sided typed or written cheat sheet for all exams & the final! Do all the homework no matter what or at least turn something in! you can re-do only the assignments you turn in.
One of the best teachers I have ever had. She's personable, very well organized and passionate about her subject. I highly recommend taking any of her classes. In Human105 she covers a variety of topics in a very comprehensive and organized way. Hard to explain really, but it was fantastic. I really appreciated her approach.
Ferrara is a really good teacher. Her tests are easy if you do all the assigned readings/work and pay attention to lecture. I got to admit I did not like it the first month, but now I've got a new appreciation for humanities. She is fairly firm about turning things in on time and wants you to invest more thought into homework, than a simple answer.
Best class I have taken in college so far. She makes class interesting and what she goes over in class will ALWAYS be on the test. She try's to trick you on some of the question in the test, but the test are pretty simple if you go to class, do the reading, and homework. Easy class and you will learn A LOT!
Awesome Professor. Very helpful & approachable especially when you ask a question about the assignments, etc. Never thought I would be interested in this class, took it cause it was a requirement. She lectures where you are able to comprehend everything,
Megan is entertaining during class, but overall a mediocre teacher. She deducts points on homework assignments without an explanation, and some of her test questions are whack. She refuses to let students see the tests afterwards so it is difficult to remember what to work on or study for the final. She isn't terrible, but you can find better.
Great lecturer. Very prepared. Fun class. Wants you to succeed. Would definitely take another class from her.
She's pretty amusing and presents the material in a way that's easy to understand and relate to. Most of the assignments that she assigns are response questions, where you just give your opinion or reflect on certain topics. The only other tasks, aside from a museum project, are just exams. For those, just study the guide/powerpoints.
Interesting lecturer, though has class favorites and only engages those students in class discussions even when others raise their hands with something to say. She jumps around a lot in class and isn't clear with what she's looking for with homework assignments or test material. She is nice, but there are far better social studies instructors out t
Meg is awesome. She is so sweet and such a great teacher. She's passionate about her work, and genuinely wants her students to succeed. She lets you use a cheat sheet for her tests (which are literally the same as the ppts). Participation is important tho. Take her for humanities 123!!! shes the best!
Megan opened up my eyes to a new way of thinking. Very dedicated to her students and is an interesting person. Be sure to show up to every class and do the homework. I will be taking another of her humanities classes in the spring. I wish all professors were like her!
Megan is a great teacher who will really challenge you to think about Humanities in a way you never have before. She'll definitely get you interested in the class material. She's very passionate about the class. She lets you use a page of notes for all tests including the final. Can grade tough on homework, but she gives you a chance to redo it.
She's a great teacher! Humorous and truly loves what she teaches. I have a hard time staying focused, she keep the class fully engaged. This directly helps you on her tests. Although when touching on the area of art got a little difficult for me. But I still came out with an A. Believe me when i say, If i can do it YOU can pull an A too. just try.
Super cool and fun teacher. Lectures are very interesting and fun. Get ready to read deep because she does pop quizes and alot of activities involving he books. But she's super helpful too. Her test are hard but you get to bring 1 page of notes and a study guide. And if you visit her during her office hours, she can go over the study guide with you
Participation is super important. Raise your hands every week or so to get the participation grade. She gives a lot of hints for the tests, follow the guide, and copy&paste the slides onto your study guide. She lets you bring a 2 page guide so just type EVERYTHING in the smallest fonts+margin and bring it to the test. Follow these rules for easy A.
Megan is amazing! The class deals with a lot of touch subjects so sometimes class is awful, but she's required to teach those topics and does a good job at it. She's extremely helpful if you're having problems in class, but doesn't let you walk over her which is good. I have a lot of respect for her, and she seems to respect her students too!
Excellent instructor! Young, funny & intelligent! Summer semester: Allows 1 page, 2-sided notes on tests & reviews study guide if you stay after. MUST READ to pass! Provides class grade after each test. She'll hold your hand to help you, but you must do the work. Allows revising of homework to get 100%. Gets easier after 12 classes-Stick it out!
Amazing teacher, really interacts with her students. Great lectures but remember to participate or your grade will suffer. Took her Hum 105 class over summer, it was intense but I loved it, wish It had been longer! Enjoy! :)
Great teacher with an interesting outlook. The class was four hours long, but I rarely looked at the clock. The class texts are novels which are very thought provoking and enjoyable to read. Be prepared to read a lot though. If you don't read the assigned books, you won't do well in the class.
She is one of the best professors I've ever had. I've had her for both HUM 115 &105. Expect to do work and it can be challenging but she's there to help if you need it. You will end up learning a lot in her class because she's an great, interesting professor. She may seem cold at first but she's actually really nice.
She's a very nice person and easy to understand. She is very knowledgeable about the stuff she teaches and seems to really care about her students passing! I would definitely recommend her class!
I love this teacher. She is hilarious! Although she is a pretty tough grader she does give you opportunities to correct you work to get 100%. You have to participate in class otherwise it will show in your grade. I would take her again.
If you don't like showing up for class then don't take her. She marks you down in participation for not showing up or being late. While her class is an easy A if you do the work and her lectures are interesting, she grades homework based on correctness. Gives study guide for tests but sometimes puts material on the test that wasn't covered in class
The class is mostly lectures with 15 minute group discussions. She doesn't allow any electronics what so ever, and taking notes isn't the easiest as she jumps around. But power points are online. Attendance will make a difference in grade. Syllabus outlines class assignments and she allows a page of notes for tests. No long papers, 1 project.
Pretty low effort class, only had a few tests and one project that required going to a museum or creating some artwork. Not much stress, just studied a little before each test and got an A on every one.
The normal effort required, just study the power points, and do the cheat sheet to pass the tests. Gives good examples to help you understand terms and theories. There is 1 project at the end and all assignments are question/ answer format rather than essays (YES). I would take her again.
Megan Ferrara is an awesome professor. She really loves the topic she teaches about. I took this class in the summer, I was able to pass with an A. I think she is an excellent teacher. I would definitely take her class again if I could. I really learned a lot in this class and the books we read were very good books!
Megan truly cares about what she teaches. I honestly did not think I would like it very much, but it ended up being my favorite class after a few weeks. She lets you use cheat sheets during every test/midterm and final. Homework are fairly easy, but if you don't get 100% she lets you do corrections on them. Awesome teacher. I would take her again.
Ferrara is passionate about the subject she teaches. She wants you to participate, so raise your hand occasionally. There are five exams and a final - you can use one page of notes. She is a stickler for homework and allows you to correct some of it. I would definitely take her again!
Megan is the best! 2 novels both easy reads with short homework assignments. I didn't know what to expect coming into class but I have such a new found appreciation and love for art in all forms. her exams are straight forward if you pay attention in class and one pg of notes is allowed. one simple project due at the end of thesemester. 10/10 rec.
One of the best teachers I've ever had. Pros: passionate about topic, interesting & engaging lectures, extra credit opportunities (you have to ask), revisions on hw, syllabus states exactly what is planned/due for every class session, very responsive, cares about students. Cons: doesn't always mention hw until due, trick q's on tests.
My favorite professor. Genuine, kind, respectful towards students, and her lectures are amazing. You can tell shes passionate about what shes teaching. I would take her class a million times again.
Megan is a one of a kind professor and is really passionate about the material she teaches. The powerpoints and videos/movies watched in class are important to pass her tests so show up! Overall really changed my perspective on things in the world and would love to take her again!
Megan is amazing, if you have a chance take her class and learn more deeply on how to appreciate Art, Literature, Human Culture. It's like a guide class to change how you perceive arts. Test is hard, but cheat sheet allowed, you'll manage to get A if you do the work. (3 test, some quizzes, project *most fun part of the class).
Megan is a gem! Very passionate, inspirational, and cares about her students. She's very accessible. You will work hard, for sure. Lots of homework. Lots of reading. She lets you bring a cheat sheet for tests but they are not difficult if you engage with the material. This class is all about the learning journey with many fun stops along the way.
I love Megan(she prefers being called Megan). I took this class short-term and I do not recommend. Even though I got an A, I would not take it again even if it was full term. I love Megan, hated her class. Great teacher and accessible outside of class. I recommend her office hours. By the way, you have to read everything.
Okay she is the best! She will make class something to look forward to! Her lectures are fun and she always compares it to her life stories which is always great to hear. She makes you want to try in the class. Her tests are fairly easy and for homework she lets you redo them for more points. Participate in the class and you should be good to go.
Absolutely loved this class! Went in expecting boring art history but Megan's passion really shines and rubs off on her students. Attend lecture and participate when you can. A one page "cheat sheet" is allowed for exams, 2 books, and an end of semester project! Wish I could take another class with her.
Really liked her in the beginning she gives good examples & personal stories. Shes a hardass & Doesnt teach to everyones learning styles though. Im an A/B student and failed this class. Be prepared its tough and not easy to follow. Would never take this class again. Terrible teaching
Likes discussions/group work. Easy to talk to.
Megan is the best. She honestly cares about what she teaches and she wants you to succeed. She is readily available for questions at all times and might be one of the best teachers I have ever had. She is enthusiastic and inserts jokes quite often. She is easy to listen to and to learn from and she helps you to think bigger! She is awesome!
Super nice & fun professor. make sure to listen to the lecture read/watch all the material because you won't be able to google the questions. There's quite a lot of assignments but none that are too hard. I added the class late and missed a whole lot of assignments but still got an A because she gives a 5% extra credit project.
Megan is so nice and fun! Her classes are very interesting and make you think outside of class. No final, but a project that sums up the class. Lots of reading for the first few weeks, but the class gets easier and fun after week 5/6. Assignments and exams can be tough, so take good notes. Online class isn't so bad, make sure to participate enough.
Great vibes all semester!
Very lighthearted and understanding professor. She makes it clear the class was not meant to take all of your time, instead be relaxed and enjoyable to learn. Lectures are great. Homework load is light and easy. I found tests to be a little challenging and the only thing keeping me from an A but they still were very doable.
There were like 3 quizzes, and the first one was terribly hard. She grades hard for assignments like the first few ones and then you get a better idea of how she grades. Tests are online and are based on her lectures so take good notes. Sometimes the study guide does not reflect the test.
Beware of these fake reviews. Grades ridiculously hard on assignments and will even dock points of for simple grammatical errors like its an English class. Dont even bother looking at the study guide its no where near your actual test. Mandatory to have your zoom face camera on at all zoom meetings. Please take another course for credit not this
She's an alright teacher but she grades very toughly. Sometimes the study guide didn't really help that much on her tests. She's really nice though but just very boring lectures. She will dock points if you miss class.
The toughest grader out there. She grades like shes an English teacher. Half the stuff you need to get you dont really have to. If you work together as a class you can figure out how to pass together. She wants you to buy like four books. I only ever got one and passed. Final project is decent.
It was impossible getting full credit on her written assignments which are a huge part of your grade. I wrote 5 page papers almost on each and every one of them and averaged in the 60s percent range. She marks off for small grammatical errors like an English teacher and was not worth it at all. Keep in mind I got As in ENG 122,123 but a B here.
Got fooled by these reviews. Absolutely horrible teacher when it comes to grading. Its impossible to get full credit on written assignments which are a huge part of your grade. I wrote about 5 page essays on them assignments and never received full credit. Btw get ready to read 4 books bc its impossible getting an A grade without reading them
Shes lectures almost all the time. Her homework is graded very hard, people who knew what they were doing in the class got 60s and I had no idea what this class was about. If you communicate with your fellow classmates though you can all ace or at least pass every single test because it shows the answers after, only reason I passed.
Megan is very enthusiastic about what she teaches. I enjoyed taking her class and seeing her passion through her teaching. There are 4 tests, some reading assessments, writing assignments, discussion boards, and 1 project. As long as you pay attention during class, do the reading, and watch what is assigned, you should be fine in this class.
I took Megan's class over the summer, I was dreading a summer class, but I really liked it! Her teaching is interesting and easy going. Show up, do the assignments and it's an easy A.
Megan's class was so much fun, she is really inspirational and genuinely cares about her students. I found that she made time to be available and made it easy for me to succeed and get a good grade. This was finally a class I looked forward to. I highly recommend and can't wait to take another class from her.
amazing class. would take again
I took this class without quite knowing what it was, and Megan has made me care more about art than I have ever imagined I could. Having friends in this class is recommended, as there are group discussions. When I was still getting used to Canvas, she was very flexible with late assignments and due dates. An A4 cheat sheet is allowed on all tests.
Taking this class was really fun, she curves the exam grades and specifically tells you how she's going to format the test, marking any images you should keep in mind when studying. Explicitly mentions that bullet points will be important on exams. On the final project, if you want to do something different than the guidelines, she's open to it.
I LOVED Professor Megan. I hate school if I'm gonna be honest, but Megan was so helpful in assisting me while catching up on stuff I missed when I was absent. (you can't make up participation points or group discussions though). She'll help you retake tests, reopen assignments, and answers emails within a day. I literally love her. 1000% recommend.
I love Megan so much! I've taken her twice so far. I do prefer her American Pop Culture class over Intro to Humanities tho. She really sets the guidelines for what she wants and expects well and truly cares about her students.
Very fun class, well taught, not hard to pass if you pay attention and turn in your stuff
Amazing teacher, one of the best i have had in my 2 years. Take her class.
I took her Humanities 112 course. I highly recommend taking her. She is clear on what she want from her students and teaches the material well. Megan also allows a cheatsheet on all her exams and does require some effort on your part. However she is reasonable and will help you if you are struggling.
She helps students with things like studying for tests. When it comes to class, we mainly spent time having discussions or watching movies. Tests and assignments are not easy, as you won't get a good score unless you read text book carefully and study very hard, but if you ask for help at her office, she is always kind.
Professor Ferrara was a pretty good professor as a person but the reason I said I wouldn't take her again is because her teaching style is confusing to me. I took HUMAN-105 and let me tell you, IT WAS REALLY CONFUSING and I was so lost the whole time in this class. The books we were given to read made no sense to me. I don't recommend HUMAN-105.
Professor Megan is a great professor. This class takes you on a roller coster ride but professor Megan is always willing and available to help her students. This class requires a lot of reading and can be confusing but her lectures help a lot. She is very responsive and a quick grader.
Professor Ferrara is a good teacher but her online class wasn't the best. There are a lot of readings and some long 2 hour movies you have to watch for test. There are 4 test which aren't too bad if you remember all the readings and movies. Writing assignments are short but she want you to be very spacific or she will doc points.
That it doesn't matter if your teacher is nice or mean you should still stay in a positive attitude and show the teacher respect and don't bully any one if they didn't get much stuff right but no matter what you should still study hard and smile
Some professors care and some don't. Meg cares. If you do your work and study your material this class is a breeze. If I was not going into Nursing I would go into the study of humanities because of the veil she has lifted for me in terms of life and its lessons. she deserves nothing but respect. LOVE LOVE LOVE HER!
Professor Ferrar is a quality humanities instructor. Her class was not stressful and very manageable. Her tests aren't always easy, but she allows cheat sheets which help a ton. She grades pretty fair and has a great personality that makes her class enjoyable. Take her class because she is great at what she does.
Ferrara is a great professor. Very good at responding fast. GO TO HER OFFICE HOUR THE CLASS BEFORE A TEST. She basically reviews everything on the test in specific and gives the answers in 15 minutes. You can turn in late work whenever you want. The last thing she wants is for you not to pass. Easy A just do all the assignments!
Megan cares about her students and allows you to make up missing assignments as long as you communicate with her. Go to her office hours before tests because she goes into depth on the tests to ensure everyone passes. ALSO turn in writing assignments early for feedback so you can get a better score before the deadline. Test are easy if you study
Megan's HUM105 class is a rollercoaster, but her engaging lectures and willingness to help make it worthwhile. Though grading is tough, using Unstuck AI and working with classmates can get you through. Overall, a rewarding experience.
Probably my favorite professor at DVC. She's a really sweet woman who cares about her students. I wasn't fully locked in but I could've easily gotten an A, she lets you use a cheat sheet on exams.
This teacher had a good rating, decided to take her class her lectures via zoom where not the best she was kind of all over the place in each class mainly playing videos or saying somebody is knocking. The very first test is like two weeks in and was like 75% of peoples grades going from 100% to like 40% and still passing everything they are at a D
Professor Ferrara is one of the funniest professors I ever had I really enjoy her lectures and her nice comments. she keeps it real I mess with that heavy. she's also really sweet I can tell by her body language and the way she carries herself. she also tells very great funny stories in the middle of the lectures sometimes.
Be prepared to never miss a class. i suffered a major injury during this class and tho i had proper notes from my doctor, she still docked participation points and assignments. she's a good teacher but her classes are so focused on tests and lectures that if you're not there every class, you will fall behind, which is what happened to me.
As someone who just got back in college & has bad unmedicated ADHD, she's the best prof ever to take under those circumstances. Theres few test throughout the semester no final & readings but they're easy to understand w/ her lectures(trust me, as someone who passed her class w/ unmedicated ADHD). Love her, if you didn't pass, thats a problem...
Love love love her!! anyone complaining is just failing to take responsibility for their own situations. if you're a student who cares about your grades and puts in the work you will do perfectly fine. I had things happen to be and she was always understanding and willing to help. in life you get what you give so don't cry about it just do better.
be prepared to go to every class. while in this class i was out for over a month with an injury excused by my doctor. even though i had the proper notes, my participation was still docked and so were discussions. her classes are heavy on videos, lectures, readings, and tests, some of which aren't available on canvas or aren't well notified.
