I'm not sure that it was even her fault but the tests were structured in a way that you would have to memorize the useless textbooks to get a decent grade. My GPA is 3.5 (and I have experience speaking in public) and I'll do well to pull out a C+.

She's an awesome teacher. When going through the book during class, she tells you what to star. The things that you star are test questions. The department makes the tests kind of confusing, but as long as you study the questions given and memorize what she told you to star, you'll do just fine on the exams. She is lenient in grading speaches too.

First off, I suggest taking 240 over 210. 240 is more fun and easier. However, if you need to take 210 megan is a great choice. She tells you what will be on the midterm and the final. They are both departmental exams though and are pretty hard. you will need to study alot for those. Megan is a fair and unbias grader. I got an A in the class.

She is very clear with her requirements, and does know what she's talking about. I personally find her personality to be intolerable and somewhat condescending, as she seems to think we don't understand simple concepts like "introduction" and "3 main points of a speech". Personality aside, the class is fairly clean-cut and you know what she wants.

Megan is a very picky grader, and takes the course too seriously. You could write an outline that would be A+ material for any other course, but she will find some way to deduct points, and with the speeches, she will kill your GPA by giving you a C or a D on things that you felt confident you would have received an A. Lectures were long but not horrible and if you're good at getting your work done you'll be fine. She's very specific when grading so go over your work a bunch before turning it in. It felt like she's a professor for people that are very outgoing and loud and do well in groups

Professor Fields was a very intriguing and exciting professor but graded things so harshly and the tests were SO hard for literally no reason. But attendance really isn't mandatory. This class definitely made me realize I did not wanna be a comm studies major though. She does make the class more fun though.

Fields is really engaging with students. Class is compromised of long lectures but she gives lots of good examples in class that help you understand the material. There's a huge group project at the end that can make or break your final grade which is really unfortunate. Quizzes are easy if you know your stuff, she sends out quizlets for review too

Probably the most engaging lecture that I have been in so far. She takes the time to try and get to know her students by name and uses really good examples. There is a big group project towards the end that is actually kind of fun. She is a tough grader, so just make sure to study and review any instructions before submitting.

I took her class for a credit. I am not a communications major and thanks to this class would never consider it. Her grading is super difficult and even if you reread your assignments it's never enough. The class is just her lecturing and you having to go home and read the textbook and know vocab words for your assignments. Do not take her class!!

I don't understand her bad reviews. If you go to class and pay attention you will be completely fine. She has very clear grading criteria but if you follow the rubric you will get a perfectly good grade. I honestly loved her class and would 100% take her classes again if I could. Definitely recommend her class!

Megan is pretty nice and tries to make everything as clear as possible for you. Go to the lectures, keep up with the weekly assignments, read the grading criteria (!!) and you'll do great. She's really personable and tries to keep lectures relevant, but is fairly strict on deadlines. Overall I'd recommend her. (Warning: she lowkey has crazy eyes)

She was very nice but talked to the class like we were children. She grades heavily on group work and quiz grades, thats the only thing your grade is weighed on. She does give clear directions on group work though and offers optional Zoom meetings on the due date of many big grades so that is helpful if you take the opportunity.

Really good professor overall, people say she is a tough grader but if you read the grading rubric on the assignments and follow it you will get a good grade. Also does a good job at making sure we understand the concepts we are learning in the lecture. She does post the lecture power points, but they are very vague so be sure to go to class.

Didn't do the Job Shadowing Project near the beginning of the semester, and it really messed up my grade. Still did well on most homeworks and tests. Make sure to go to the lectures!!! Also make sure to study for tests and quizzes! Give yourself a good day or two to study, as a lot of the tests are applying vocabulary terms to situations.

Megan is VERY respectable. She is a great lecturer, and an approachable professor who is willing to help whenever needed. However, she is VERY "by-the-book" and does not always have a ton of lenience when it comes to grading. She is straight-forward and honest. Overall, very good lecturer.

The group project sucks and she does not care if you get stuck with a group that doesn't do their work and makes your own grade drop significantly. She also will tell you exactly how to do something for the project in class and then give you points off for doing so. This project made my high A drop to a B and I lost my 4.00!

She means well, but tries to seem cool and chill when she's not. I liked her class as a whole. The group project was annoying. She grades too harsh to be a intro to comm studies class haha. Her lectures were good, and she is organized, however her quizzes are 10 times harder than her lecture notes. She is very nice and approachable sometimes.

She grades the group video project on editing and not how hard you worked on it or if it met all the criteria. Its like only useful if you want to hear guest lectures and do group projects all semester. She does not explain why your grade you got and will only give you an extra point instead of actually fixing her own mistakes. 2 much for an intro.

Megan is just not a good educator, and she recognizes that I think. Her lectures are poorly paced, poorly worded, and not engaging at all nor does she even try to expand on any concepts beyond what the textbook will tell you. She refuses any late work, schedules inconsistent assignment due dates, and generally does not set students up for success.

Way too much work for an intro class. Lectures and slides aren't too useful. Expects you to read the textbook for most of the content. Grades are largely from 2 projects (one group, one solo), weekly participation points, and quizzes that use content mostly from the textbook instead of her lectures. Insanely specific grader as well. TAs were chill

She is a very nice person, just not a good professor. The way she grades the speeches is insane. For my class's second speech, the average grade was an 84, and the highest was a 91. The grading is up to her discretion, and yet no one made a true A on the speech. She is extremely nitpicky and will take off points for the smallest things. Don't take

Worst teacher I have had while at this school. Preaches "understanding" but is not and is a fake empath. Her grading is not consistent. Attendance policy also is miserable and not understanding of life even if you communicate with her. My biggest issue is her inconsistent grading. Doesn't explain the points she deducts. Absolutely miserable class.

I feel she is very tired of her students. I think she has been a horrible grader and very manipulative, to your face she will seem kind but she will take it out on your grades if she doesn't like you. It's not personal, but there is something that makes me want to stay away from her. To put this to a close I'll be happy when the class is over.

I went back and fourth on Megan, but she ultimately won me over towards the end. I got lucky and had a great group for the video project, but I can see how a bad group could ruin the class. I went to her office hours and she was VERY helpful, it just requires finding her her outside of class, as when I spoke to her in class she wasn't great.

Megan is a great person and seems to enjoy communication. However, her lectures were so incredibly boring, especially when she would bring in guest lecturers. So, get ready to sit through terribly mundane classes. And the group project isn't as terrible as everyone makes it seem. I had a bad group but still made an A because of extra credit.

Megan seems like a very kind person, but class agreed her grading is EXTREMELY nitpicky and unclear. Points were randomly deducted from speeches for reasons that weren't explained/didn't make sense. Lectures are confusing and hard to follow. If you read the chapter that is the best way to understand the material. Participation points are mandatory do not miss one. Quizzes are straight from the chapter. The paper we had to write was very straightforward. Follow the rubric and you will be fine. Same thing applies for the group project.
