I never even touched to book except for homework. The lectures were enough. The tests were exactly what she went over in class. She uses some questions from her old tests, and if you ask nicely she will even give them to you. Best Chem teacher I have had to date.

Meagan is a great and young teacher loved having her tremendously!

I loved Meagan as an instructor! She was smart and funny and adorable. I wish she was a full time instructor. She definitely wants her students to succeed and is always there to help. Things I could never understand before became amazingly easy in her class. I learn more in one day in her class than I do in entire quarters in others.

Chemistry in high school was soo confusing for me, but after taking Chem. 139 with Hess as my instructor, she cleared up a lot of the confusion I had about the subject. Her lectures are to the point and barely confuses you. I really reccommend her if you're taking up Chemistry.

Hess is an amazing teacher... You don't even have to read your book. The only reason you need the book is for homework. You must attend daily lectures because she explains everything very well... I took her for 100 and 121, and she isn't teaching 131 so I am a little stressed!

I drove all the way from Auburn to the Lakewood campus just for that class. And Im glad I did!! She wont nag about attendance but she does a lot of "in class" stuff that will defiantly affect your grade if you dont take it attendance seriously. Me: ok test taker but good attendance 4.0 - Friend, good tester but not there every day 3.8

She is a really great helpful interesting teacher. I got 4.0 in Chem 161, 162, and 163. Don't wait! Just get into her class ASAP.

Wonderful teacher teachers material well! She is nice a kind and very helpful. the only thing is the labs are brutal. you have to write your own procedure if you are not right when you go to lab you have to write over again and waste time in lab. many times there is no time to finish lab. then you don't get full lab point.

Amazing chem instructor. Straight forward with expectations from the beginning of the course. Very well organized. Labs pair well with the lectures. Breaks down concepts very well. Gives a lot of practice so tests are not surprising. Take her class.

It's hard to fail her class. I struggle with chemistry and I gave it my all and I received a B at the end of the quarter. If you do all the assignments, labs and do average on tests you will pass. You have to try and fail.

She's absolutely amazing and awesome as a teacher. Wish I was continuing on with a degree with her as my primary instructor.

Great teacher. Gives back tests the day after you take them, and gives you credit everywhere she possibly can so show your work! Semi-diffucult material but she is so organized and provides you with so much practice that the class is definitely an easy A. I am terrible at Chem but am almost over 100% in the class.

She was incredibly helpful. she's the reason i fell in love with chemistry. the homework was long but reasonable. really made sure to give us extra practice when we needed it. always graded tests on time. she loved questions. nobody was afraid to ask questions in her class. thats a huge deal. i absolutely loved her. i recommended her.

She does a great job teaching the material you need to learn. It's a little fast pace but if you show up and do the work you are bound to pass with at least a B. As long as you show up, print her emailed Chapter notes (Which are amazing, and is all you need to know!) take notes from her lectures on notes sent in email, study, do the hw and labs, you are sure to pass. Chem is hard, but she makes it easy as possible! She is there to help- just ask for it! She makes herself available thru email & office hour

Professor Hess is very clear of what she expects from you on her exams. She is also a great lecturer. During the labs, she makes a point to make sure everyone is progressing properly and will help if you get stuck. 1228

Her lectures notes that she emails make it possible so you hardly ever have to even open the book (Which is free/online). As long as you show up, listen, take notes, print her chapter notes youll be fine. In my opinion, it would almost be hard to fail her class if you are a good student. I have a hard time w Chem and I got an A! Love her class

Megan Hess is by far one of the best teacher's I have ever taken! After seeing her reviews on here I decided to make the 30 minute drive from Puyallup to Fort Steilacoom everyday. It was so worth it! She helped me understand everything I found confusing in 139. I'm actually retaining the information she has taught.

I really enjoyed my time spent in this course. Megan is very passionate about her subject and has an ability to convey complicated material in a manner that fosters learning. She makes herself available outside of class and really does give a lot of herself to aid in her students success. In-class assignments aimed at reinforcing content.

Professor Hess was such a gem to have during the general chem series. Although chemistry was/is still not an enjoyable subject for me, Megan created a positive learning environment through creative in-class activities, supplemental videos, and was always available for help. Professor Hess is awesome! If you show up to class every day and review the material well, it is possible to get an A. She is super nice, approachable, and does a great job explaining the material. There are only three or four homework assignments. Each one is made up of about 30 questions, but you have almost a month to complete it.

Megan Hess is wonderful; she gives extra credit assignments, minimal homework (due on review day, not daily), answers questions and writes out the answers thoroughly after exams and quizzes. Her questions are straightforward, and everything on the exam is taught in class.

Professor Hess is a VERY nice and smart lady. She really cares about her students and their success. You learn important material each class, so make sure you don't skip. She is really good at explaining things, her lectures were amazing and easy to understand.

Professor Hess is such an amazing and easy going teacher, and her exams are pretty easy. There is no time limit for the exams and she gives really easy extra credit points at the end of every exam. Every week, there's only about 3 easy homework assignments, and she gives great feedback. The only thing to remember is that a 97 is an A for her class.

her online class was as enjoyable as chemistry class can possibly be. very respectful, gives very thorough feedback, and is usually available to answer questions online. overall a very good professor.

Her lectures are audio which sucks for visual learners. To get a 4.0 in her class you need a 97%. The tests dont have time limits and only have around 10 questions which is great. She is nice and wants to help you.

Professor Hess is one of the kindest professors I've ever had! She's so nice and willing to help if you need it, and is always super encouraging-- even through an online class. I wish I was able to meet her in person, and I hope I get to take her for chem again in the future!

She was a great professor! I was so afraid to take Chemistry because I thought it was going to be hard, but she taught in a way that was easy to understand. There was not a lot of homework, and her lectures were great!! She responds to messages quickly, and grades assignments quickly.

If you get the opportunity to sign up for her courses, do it! Lectures are clear and easy to understand, and labs aren't too difficult. Lots of resources and practice problems are also provided with each lesson. She's always willing to help you! She's also one of the few professors I've had whose reviews adequately prepare you for the tests. 10/10!

Kind, and generous, professor Hess is just a nice person. Lab reports are tough but are graded by understand the concept. The wrong results don't really mess up your grades. 4 tests worth 500/800total points for the quarter. Tests aren't too hard and she gives you 6hrs for 6~9questions. About 35pt worth of extra credits. 97% 4.0 cutline.

I highly suggest taking Megan for chemistry. She is absolutely amazing and caring. She will go the extra mile to make sure you succeed. She made me like chemistry. Show up and you'll succeed.

Megan cares about your success, and she is always willing to provide extra help. The class was rigorous, and I wish she had more assignments for us to do (for skill practice and to help balance the gradebook since there were only tests and labs as grades for the most part).

Super sweet professor!! Goes through PowerPoint with you slide by slide. Material may be difficult but she makes it easier to grasp. Labs are fun and straightforward. Gives out extra credit often! Take her you won't regret it!!

I LOVED Professor Hess. If you struggle with Chemistry, take her. She is very understanding and explains each concept perfectly. She doesn't have much time aside from lectures, so attendance is mandatory. All the information is crucial to your understanding and application on labs. There is a final but isn't too hard. Overall, great professor!

I took Megan Hess's class for Chem 161 and 163 (while taking 162 with another professor who was also pretty good) and she was the absolute best Chemistry Professor ever. She is so helpful for those who struggles with Chemistry and appreciates creativity. Professor Hess if you are reading this, Thank you for everything you are one in a Million.

Before I took her class, I absolutely hated chemistry due to a bad experience with another professor. Professor Hess is amazing and she made lectures extremely easy to comprehend. What she teaches in her lectures is what is gonna be exactly on the exam so I guess attendance is somewhat necessary if you want to pass. Do not hesitate to take her!!!

Professor Hess is an amazing teacher. From someone who has retaken chemistry 3+ times, I was finally able to understand chemistry with Megan. Accessible during office hours, amazing lectures. I loved this class! Megan is very easy to talk to and flexible with assignments, there isn't much homework at all, just one online assignment a week. There are a lot of extra credit opportunities but most of them are given in class, so just make sure to show up. I would 100% take her again!

Ms. Hess was an amazing teacher, I recommend her 100%. She's very understanding and explains topics clearly. After explaining a new topic, she'll wait and ask if anyone needs clarifying. There's 3 exams and the final exam, 4 in total. Every week you turn in a small assignment where she asks you a chemistry-related question. Incredible teacher!

Megan Hess is definitely the best teacher I have had at pierce college. She gave very good feedback and was always clear with her instructions. I took her for both chem 121 in the fall and chem 161 in the winter and throughout both classes she offered various opportunities for extra credit. the test if you do the reviews, you will be ok. this instructor is AMAZING she is super flexible with when you have to take tests, giving students the extra time needed to get some final study time in. She also is fair, granting those same students the same amount of time the ones who take the test generally receive. She also grants plenty of extra credit opportunity. 10/10 Would recommend

I was so nervous taking this class after taking many years between high school and now, but she creates a class environment that encourages learning and takes the time to make sure everyone understands the material. Gives many opportunities for extra credit as well as listens and takes student feedback into account. Best science class so far!
