This professor is one of the best ones I've had so far. She makes things easy to comprehend and makes class enjoyable to attend!History is not one of my strong subjects, but she has changed that around for sure. She has taught me so much and I wish I had the opportunity to have her for History 1302. Super cool professor definitely recommend!
When it comes to studying, you don't have to do much of it at all because the lecture notes are more than enough. Pay attention in class and you are guaranteed an A. Makes everything super clear to understand and hands down of my best professors that I've had as an incoming freshman.
She is great.I thought that some of her facts may have been a bit off but she is awesome. All you need to do is take the notes from the power point, and you will do well.3 Test. Test consist of 5 IDs and 20+ multiple choice questions.
She is a cool profesor. Her class and her test are really easy if you take notes but if you dont take notes you can just read the book. I would recomend her to anybody whose wiling to take powerpoint notes.
TAKE HER! ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSORS AT HCC FOR HISTORY. SHE IS REALLY HELPFUL..SHE HAS TWO TEST DURING A FULL TERM WHICH IS THE MID-TERM AND THE FINAL..TWO EASY WRITTEN ASSIGNMENTS, NO QUIZZES AND SO MUCH EXTRA CREDIT ITS HARD TO FAIL. I HAVDENT GOT MY GRADE YET BUT IM SURE I WILL PASS. SHE IS LAID BACK..EXPLAINS WELL.JUST READ NOTES AND YOUR GOOD
OMG, this professor is something else. guys if you want A, take her. she gives the notes and the tests out, so all you got is study them. very short answers and eaaaaaaaaasy.. teaches very clearly and suuuper respectful. loved her class.
She was very nice, understanding and approachable ! I liked the way she taught the class; even though it was history she finds a way to make the class relevant and interesting. I doubt anybody could ever fail her class. like seriously! In a word, the worst grade you probably can get is a "B". I'm not sugar coding. Tons of extra credit! Take Her!
Very easy class. This professor is fun and helpful. Study your notes and you'll do fine.
Take good notes and listen to what see says and you should do very well
professor Mcgregor is so helpful. she is so nice and sweet and she gives you no option but to pass her class because she is always on time she gives you all the resources you need and she makes history fun. I am not a history fan but if I had to take another history class that she was teaching I would.
Was great at teaching, but be careful when it comes to attendance; she can be very brutal. Sleeping is not an option you will ultimately fail if you come to her class sleepy she will notice, so for the workers/schoolers take heed.
Great professor book is not needed. go to class take notes. listen for " you may want to write this down" and write it down it will be on the test. shes very organized. i loved her
she have many work to do. 4 web assignment and 2 written assignment each 3-4 pages , and resource assignment + 2 test + map test .not hard, but a lot of work.
OH MY GOSH! This lady is AWESOME! She has so much patience w/ the students to make sure the students really get it. I don't even want to miss her class as I may miss interesting discussions. You'd be crazy not to take her! Don't know yet how she grades on essay. I'll update here once essay is posted. Advice: Take her! U won't regret it.
She's very knowledgeable on the course. Makes class interesting, but she is not an easy A. Her tests are not typical entry level 1301 tests. Not basic multiple choice. You will use the Blue Book on each test w/no more than 30 multiple choice questions worth only 1 point. Majority of test grade will be on essays and character IDs.
No quiz, 2 writing essay (3-4 pages), 2 reading assignments (answer questions) and 2 exams. Exam contents 1 essay + 3IDs + 20 multiple choices which all come from review.
AMAZING professor. Work might seem like a lot at first but its really simple and she gives enough time between each assignment. 1 map quiz beginning of semester,4 web assignments,2 essays,& midterm & final, AND she gives a couple of extra credit opportunities. Very helpful. I highly recommend her. Wish i can take her for 1302 but her class is full.
I hate history... I managed to pass. Not with a grade I was hoping for, but that is my fault. Anyways, there was 1 quiz -- Map quiz and 2 exams -- Midterm and Final -- which consist of a 50% essay question, 20% multiple choice, and 30% identification terms. You will have to take notes.
Gonna have to take her for 1302. She is the most patient professor & gives a lot of time to turn in essays. Could've done well if I did great on my finals. Just unfortunate that I kept getting sick during test days. She grades fair. We need a prof who is understanding to those who are working students. Truly lovable professor!
In no uncertain terms, GREAT PROFESSOR! We definitely need more like her.
best history teacher at hcc
helpful teacher
She is a great teacher but her exams are tough. There is alot of hmwrk to turn in on eagle online but easy. Excessive essay questions r tough. You're given 6-8 topics to learn about prior to the test but only 2-3 are on it so you can't concentrate on those. Multiple choice is ok. Don't take her if you work FT and taking other classes. Barely passed
Professor knows her stuff but her way of speaking is difficult but should not interfere with your studies! The homework you have is due every Friday. Do study very well on midterm and final because those count ALOT on your total. I had to do an essay based off of a book it was okay. I got a B
I love Ms. McGregor! You have VERY EASY assignments due every Friday online. I would get 100's 90's on every single one. She does give out reviews which are helpful, BUT she only picks some questions off of the review. You have to study and take notes to get an A+. Do not procrastinate or it will backfire on you.
this professor is rock. she is a very nice lady. one midterm and one final and a map queiz. they all easy. For the exam, you only need to study before one day and take note. Her note is very important, that is what she test.
Note-taking is very important in her class (her lectures can actually be intriguing). If you do a great job with note-taking, you're pretty much set to pass with an A. Her class is just a couple of assignments and short essays plus a final and midterm (only things you need to study for).
EASY CLASS. TAKE HER.
Great teacher, highly recommended :) :) :)
A month course! 5 asgnmts due; 1 midterm & a final which consist of 2 essays, identifications of when, where & what & multiple choices. Also have to write a 6 pg book report from reading a 300 page book. Really Prof?? A mo. course & all these to work on! U gotta be kidding me!I'm dozing off at work & almost got into accident driving home. Not Good!
By far, the best professor I have ever had. Her lectures are straight and to the point. Take good notes and you should be fine. Easy class: 10 assignments, 1 map quiz, a midterm and a final, and the book report. Super easy!
Be prepared to take lots of notes as you will need them for the exams. Class is fairly easy with 1 map quiz, 10 short assignments, 2 exams, and a 5-page book report. The professor is very knowledgeable about the course and her lectures are interesting, but I don't like her grading sometimes because she gives an automatic 65 for any incomplete work.
She is good in teaching but the worst teacher in grading!Took her for summer and literally killed me with having work and 2 kids. She shows no mercy on grading. Beware!
Professor is good. Her teaching style is outstanding. I loved attending her classes. I did very well in her class but got a B because I received a grade of 65 on the final paper for no reason. That's the only thing that irritated me. Other than that, she's awesome.
BEWARE! You have to study really hard to get a good grade. Tough in grading! Know your U.S. Map coz she gives you a test on the very 1st day of class. I studied so hard and I was hoping for a better grade. I thought I deserved a B, instead she gave me a C. You have essays on every test. Who, what, when & where and the significance.
Interesting teacher, random history facts not required on exams but fun to note, easy tests if you listen and study, actually don't require the book to study but it will help if you keep up with it in class. Lectures = power points, movies, lots of pictures for reference.
If you love to learn history and willing to spend time on it, she is the best professor than others. If you are seeking for an easy A, beware! 10 multiple choice quiz and one 5 questions assignment due in every week, no exams, midterm and final are essays. Text books are required
Good in teaching. The worst grader ever! I thought I'd get a good grade in her class... was I wrong! I listened and studied, but she grades tough! If you care about your GPA, find another Instructor instead.
She is a very nice teacher, and she makes all her requirements clear. She'll also answer any question you ask her. However, she has a LOT of assignments, so get ready to study, do work, and read your textbook.
Professor McGregor is very passion about history as it is reflected in her elaborate lectures. Her class requires alot of in detailed reading, but what do you expect from history. Her quizzes are tough and on that note, this class was not an easy one. If you want an A, you MUST work for it.
She is the reason I can slack off in my 1302 class. She literally knows EVERYTHING and explains it all so well. Reading is mandatory if you want to pass the quizzes, which is honestly the only hard thing to get through bc the book is boring. She's very helpful & knowledgeable. There is a book report and 2 exams. Some extra credit. TAKE HER!!
This professor is not that helpful. She gives more 10 quiz and do many readings. If you are not a good reader don't take this class. Her test aren't even multiple choices, she makes you do written exams.
I learned a lot from her class. The only thing is that I hated that we had to take quizes before learning about the subject.
You will have to read alot in order to pass the quizes. That's the only thing I didn't like but after all I actually learned a lot from her class.
Weekly assignments and quizzes. Two ALL written exams! You'll have to study for but easy to get an A on! She is straight to the point and helpful! Very respectful and sweet! I loved her! You don't really need to take notes because before the tests you can create your own study guides! I RECOMMEND! But don't be lazy!
She gives extra credit, there's one unnecessary book paper, she can grade hard smtim but is mostly fair, she is very interesting and not boring. You don't have to get good grades on the quizzes to get an A in the class. She tells you exactly what will be on the tests. All written but easy if you study! Got A's on all and I never listened in class
Megan is a princess butternut squash too pure for this world! I read the reviews online and was a little bit apprehensive about all the work I would have to do, especially taking her during the summer. She takes time to explain about how she wants things formatted, especially the end of semester paper, and overall, she really wants you to do well.
She is amazing!!! I just took her this summer, and I am glad I did. There is no easy A, but you have to earn. Study and keep up from day one, and you will be glad you did. Just take her!!!
Awesome professor. Very organized with lecture and power point. Tells you what will be on the exams during lecture. Test review is an honest reflection of what will be on test. You could zone out all semester, study the reviews and pass the class. Great first semester of college professor!
Pretty good professor
Pay attention to the lectures. Start on your assignments early. Read the guarding the golden book and start on essay early. She is really fun and tries to involve you in the lecture, I read the book and wrote the essay in one day and got an 80. Try to stick to the deadlines and you'll be good
The class via Distance Education is very straightforward. Read your chapters for the module, take your quizzes, reading responses and test on time and you'll do absolutely fine. Responsive professor, but doesn't really give feedback. That said, I can't find any faults. I'd certainly recommend her course to others taking distance education.
Professor McGregor is very passionate about what she's teaching. Her lectures are very interesting and helpful. She's very enthusiastic when lecturing so you won't get bored but you'll actually be really interested and willing to participate. There is a paper that you will have to write on a book she assigns, but it's very straightforward. (:
Her initial intructions are very clear. I took her class online and I was impressed. She does email reminders. All the quiz questions are based on the reading usually 10 question & timed. unit exam has a study guide so just fill out the study guide while reading. Do 1 Chapter and 1 assignment per week.. Only 1 term paper. Final is online.
Great Professor. Make sure to read the text book
All homework assignments are available on the first day of class, including an essay. Finish homework on time and you'll be able to pass the class with an A, even if you get a B on the tests. She's a fair grader and clarifies any doubts you may have.
Professor McGregor's lectures are interesting. She gives you a clear list of the things you need to study for on the quizzes. There is an essay on a book, but it's fairly easy. There are also some some reading assignments that you have to answer questions for which are also easy. Final is easy as well. Taking her for 1302 this summer.
I loved this class. Lectures are interesting. Very good teacher. I would take her again.
She is very nice when you ask her questions. I took online and all of the quizzes could be googled. Her tests, however, are 10 questions free response. read the textbook and mark the pages with which topics are on the test (she gives you the general topics per chapter for the test) The essay is 5+ pages and tedious, but not hard. Easy A+.
Professor McGregor is amazing, even for an online class. She replies to any emails quickly and with effort. She understands the students cant work 24/7 and GRADES EASILY. The 5+ page essay was intimidating but its not too bad once started. There are a lot of books needed for the class but you can get by without the textbook if you really needed to.
She is hands down the best History Prof. at HCC and probably in the state of TX. She lectures in a manner that is very interesting and engaging. You will feel like you are in that place and period when she is lecturing. She explains like a story that is hard to forget, and she is very kind, sweet and helpful. Thanks for tolerating all my questio
Her assignment structure might seem like a lot, but she gives you enough time to get it done and focus on studying for the test. I think the most difficult thing from her grading would be the 5 page essay, but like I mentioned before, she gives you enough time to complete it. She is very lenient and understanding when it comes to grading.
She gives LOTS of homework. Most of her Primary sources are paragraphs per question, 5 to 10 questions per primary sources and 5 inquizative. Her lectures and powerpoints have nothing to done with what is actually on the test. I found it very frustrating that we had to do all this work and she never graded it until the last day of class.
She makes history fun, she is understanding and the class is very nice. You have to earn your grade and that is exactly how it should be. She is probably the best History teacher in Houston, and she doesn't teach at a school were the tuition is actually retarded. I personally scored an 85, B, and am happy with the semester I got with her.
You will have all homework available on the first day. There is one major paper. The exams are a combination of an essay, short answer, and multiple choice. Read the book, start your essay early, she gives extra credit, the grading system is based on a 600-point system.
Dr. Mcgregor is good for History 1301 and 1302. She gives extra credit to anyone with a low grade and her essay comes from the novel. I will probably see Dr. Mcgregor around.
The work was sometimes a little difficult and tedious but if you can get past that you should do well. You have one major essay, Inquizitive, the rest is one quiz, one primary source assignments, one exam for each chapter, and an online final. It was a great class and a very nice professor. I would take her again!
I got an A, but just barely. Inquizitive was really hard, until I figured out the trick - just keep doing questions, eventually they start repeating. (Once I figured that out, I began to get 100s). One major essay on a book, SUPER DIFFICULT Primary Source quizzes (usually got a 3/5 on those), and easy chapter quizzes. Tests, not hard. OK class.
She never goes in-depth on the necessary topics and wastes time on the unnecessary ones. You have to do most of the reading yourself. It might as well be an online class. Wish i could drop this class
She is wonderful and a great teacher however you have to work extremely hard for an A. Took her during the summer, she was nice and ready to answer any questions you have. We had 5 discussions, 10 chapter quizzes, map quiz, 3 exams and a 5 page essay on a book. Overall, you can make an A if you do the work and put in the effort.
Her lectures are pretty good. The material is easy but she is a tough grader on open responses even if it seems like the criteria is easy and understandable.
This is the hardest class I have ever taken in my whole life and I have had all math class and biology this professor is very nice and understanding but she gives the hardest homeworks, books to read, essays, class discussion she will not let u breath If you work and study u will not have the time to take her class I recommend to stay away from her
Even with 3 weeks school delay she still made u learn every bit of information. Lecture is very good and easy to grasp but the stuff u must study for the test:3-4 essay q?s, 2 will be on test, u get choose 1 to do but u must write at least 1 page; 16 ids , 8 will be on the test, u write 5 and at least 1 paragraph. if u work and study u will suffer
This class is not a walk in the park . You have quizzes , primary sources quizzes , discussions and test . She's a fair grader doesn't provide really any feedback . Grades assignments closer to the end of the semester .
She is amazing. I got around 90.28% which is good enough for an A. I feel so lucky. Aside from grades, she is generally helpful, kind, and replies to emails quickly. You will never get zero for any short answer questions as long as you put some effort to answer them. Tests, quizzes, unit exams, discussions, and papers are all fairly graded.
Mrs. Megan was a sweetheart but grades her quizzez hard even though her class was a little rough i passed.
She is a really good teacher, she is nice, grades a little tough and there is ALOT of work and writing to be done but overall she is a caring and nice sweet lady. If you dont mind putting in some work then take the class
As someone who isn't fond of history, this class felt like it went on forever. Mcgreggor managed to make it interesting some of the time with her lectures, though, so that's a plus. Quizzes are easy if you read, same as tests. One major essay which shouldn't be hard as long as you are caught up. Probably the best history prof at HCC, def recommend!
I made an A in hard classes like biology and chem and made a B in this class. This class has way to much workload its insane . You have to work really hard to achieve an A . I would recommend taking another professor and go over their syllabus . Professor Mcgregor is a nice women but this class is awful . Im very happy its over .
SOOOOOO much work its unbelievable. Even tho i got an A, i still dont recommend anyone to take this class.
I take her class for 5 weeks in summer. 16 chapter quizzes and 4 discussions are super easy. However, tests, primary sources, and the book assignment are quite hard to get points since they are tedious essays. Work hard and be real detailed in essay would help you. And take her if you're good at writing and researching.
I didn't do the paper and still made a 86.
Prof. Megan is a wonderful history teacher. Her lectures are easy to follow and extremely interesting! I found myself talking to my friends/family about what I learned in class that day. There's definitely a sizable workload, so divide up your work accordingly.
She gives a ton of work and really makes you work for your grade. One of the assignments consists of a 5 page essay about a book she makes you read. Really nice lady but this class is very overwhelming
The class is very overwhelming. She gave us a mount of huge assignment to do. 3 big test, 4 assignment, 1 essay with 5 pages, and some discussion. She is nice, but I would not recommend taking her class. Achieve an A in her class is not easy.
She has a great personality. She has pretty good lectures, she kind of moves at her own pace. Be prepared for PAPERS. I wrote at least 5 papers this year for her. She definitely utilizes canvas online. The great thing about her is that she tells you exactly what she wants on exams and papers but every exam is open-ended, none are multiple choice.
Her lectures are extremely interesting, she tells them in the most fascinating way that way it sticks in your brain. Tests are open-ended with ids and she specifies exactly what she's looking for and a choice of two essays but only have to write on a one. No final and the midterm just consists of a 5-page essay with a book to read. An easy class.
I am not fond of history, but her class was amazing! She was always enthusiastic and makes sure that you understand what she's teaching. I would absolutely take her again and again!
Shes an amazing history teacher! I hated history but thanks to her, I kind of like it. The lectures are not boring as she makes them interesting.
Textbook is necessary for homework and tests. Ready to listen, read & write. Cover up every given assignment as soon as possible. Assignments: don't overthink & be too stressful. She's ready to answer any kind of questions. So please be prepared, speak out, ask her, make appointments with her,... until you're completely clear about EVERYTHING.
Lots of essays, but they are short and easy, with very clear instructions. There is an extra required essay on a separate book that kind of throws a wrench in the flow of the assignments. Quizzes hard for me b/c they are very shortly timed. I got an A, but really had to work for it. She doesn't give much feedback but does respond quickly to emails.
Be prepared to listen and write because that is all you will be doing in this class the entire semester. Heavy writing, lots and lots of note taking. Heavy, long lectures that can be a little difficult to sit through and pay attention the entire time. 3 tests/all 2 essays long. She also can be kinda funny and witty while she lectures. Loves history
Easily one of the finest experiences with any history course I've had. I still remember lots of information months later. She clearly speaks with passion and is open about her grading expectations. Thanks for everything!
