Standard bio class, standard bio professor. She's great about email and communication, and she makes sure you know everything you need to know for the exams, which cannot be understated! However, class can get a little boring because she's pretty much reading off the slides. Nevertheless, solid choice.
She is alright for a professor and her difficulty is in the middle. She gives pop quizzes that are open notes. She also gave extra credit. The exams were multiple choice. You have to study and she does reply pretty fast to any questions you have. Overall, if you like Biology, you'll get an A; if not, you'll still do okay (I got a B).
She tells you what you need to know. She lets you go off on your own but some of the activities seem unneeded. Overall, not a hard class except for the exams because they cover stuff that was barely gone over in class so you have to make sure to study all the figures.
She doesnt really teach that good so you have to teach yourself. You have to show up to class though for random I clicker quizzes and she gives extra credit as well. I also thought this class was very test heavy we had a total of 5 exams in the semester. But, the exams in my opinion were easy and I didnt like biology that much. I got a 4.0
Her teaching style isn't very helpful, reads off the slides and is hard to keep up with, especially if you're writing she doesn't slow down and gets offended if you address it. You have to teach yourself, there are random clicker quizzes and this class is definitely test heavy.
Great teacher, tells you the material you need to know, lecture based, clicker quizzes every now and then but she lets you work together and sometimes even gives answers, gives extra credit every now and then and is helpful. Not a difficult class
Professor Megan is the best bio professor here at Oakland. She reads off the slides and then goes and explains them in her own words which is so helpful! She's always quick when responding to emails and extremely helpful during her office hours. She gives out so much extra credit to the class and most of the iClicker quizzes are easy. Take her!!
She has been such a great professor for biology! She reads the powerpoint and explains it in easier words, along with telling us exactly what we need to know for each exam. Make sure to go to class though or you'll miss an iClicker quiz! These get you lots of extra credit.
Do not take her, she didnt care about her students, bad personality .
She will never help you, and very tough when you speak with her. Dont waste your time and visit her in the office. So rude
She talks really fast & you can't write anything down. I typed on the slides which helped. Class graded on 6 quizzes & 2 labs. We always got out after like 40 or 60 minutes which was the only good thing. Random Iclicker quizzes for attendance on lectures. She never talks to the class so you can show up & just sit & type. Teach yourself everything.
This professor always seemed to have an attitude towards the class. She goes through her notes and powerpoint very fast and doesn't give you time to take good notes. She is not very helpful when you ask questions and almost seems annoyed every time. Random clicker quizzes which she always gives and overall I would not recommend her.
BEST & EASIEST PROFESSOR! This was my 2nd time taking anatomy and physiology & taking it with Megan was the best decision. She explains things very clearly. Although it may be a lot of information, its broken down & straight forward with her. Lots of extra credit given, study guide provided for each exam. Exams are very straight forward!!!!
Loved having Megan as a professor. Lots of extra credit given and exams were very straight forward as long as you knew the information. Tells you exactly what you need to know for the exam. Would recommended going to all the classes to get extra credit points for Iclicker quizzes & I found it very helpful to record the lecture to go back & listen.
Megan was the best anatomy teacher! Iclicker "quizzes" are super easy, and its a great opportunity for extra credit. You also get extra credit points added to exams if you place in the top 5 of Kahoot. Tests are straight forward, reading the textbook helped me a lot as well. Overall, I learned a lot, and she was a great prof for this course
Very lecture heavy. Powerpoints for the class were posted, but none of the information was on the slides you had to be in class to learn it. IClicker questions every class and that was also for attendance. Homework for every lecture, quizzes once in awhile, and there were online labs that were not too bad. Five exams not cumulative.
Her notes were always fill in the blanks so if you missed class, you would have to ask someone for them. She talked so fast that I couldn't even breathe or blink in between slides. She always seemed to have an attitude when people would ask questions and be annoyed if we had her repeat the notes on the slide. She was a terrible professor.
Lectures go super fast and are very boring so I found it very stressful and hard to listen to. The exams were harder than I expected since this class is a gen ed. However, I worked for my grade and got an A. To get an A you need to do all the homework and study extensively before each exam. The final wasn't cumulative... thank goodness.
Reads off of slides without explaining the material. I felt like I was teaching myself the whole semester. I would take Yates if I could do it again.
Megan is really really awesome. She made it clear at the beginning of the course that if we have stuff going on outside of her class, we can talk to her. If we are being affected by it, she can try to help. I had a mental breakdown in my dorm and I emailed her the night before an exam, she allowed me to retake it at a later date. She does care.
I was overwhelmed at first with all the information- but that is just the nature of the class. She gave plenty of helpful test review sheets/PowerPoint/Jeopardy and extra credit. I will miss her class and would definitely take her again if I could-- she is a very nice person and spices long lectures up with funny nerdy anatomy jokes:)
Megan was great! She is new to teaching but she's very knowledgable and eager to help students out. She seems to get the struggle of students since she is one herself. She gave little extra credit here and there, but you really have to study and record her lectures since her powerpoints are pretty much blank and you have to fill them out yourself.
She does not actually teach, her class is just a regurgitation of info. Try to keep up taking notes and then teach yourself after via youtube (her ppts are incomplete). She does her best to make each exam as challenging as possible, and picks the smallest details and abbreviations to focus on. Anatomy and Physiology was a cake walk compared to this
As a first year student, I pray the rest of my classes are not like this one. Her class consists of reading off powerpoints and attempting to write down what she says as fast as possible. Other than that you have online book assignments and that is your entire grade. There is no room for mistakes if you want an A. The whole class is memorization
The professor was the reason I had a terrible experience in my first semester at Oakland. Her way of teaching basically has you learn the entire curriculum on your own. Lectures were rushed especially when we went to online schooling. All in all, I wish I h took a different teacher so I would've had more time with my other classes.
Although I had to take this class during Covid, it was absolutely terrible. We basically had to teach ourselves everything. She was late posting the lectures most of the time. The times we did have class the lectures were rushed. This class made me reconsider my entire career path after being so set on health care for as long as I can remember.
i usually get a B average in sciences, i hated this class. all lecture no hands-on. prof has no personality and is rude. not alot of homework but if you dont listen to her 2 hour lectures and study all semester you will fail every exam, which make up your final grade in the class. you are paying to teach yourself biology. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF!
I am usually a good Bio student, but this is NOT what I expected. Professor just read off slides and did not go into depth with anything. Very vague. Had to teach myself most of the time. Reviews for exams were focused on everything EXCEPT what was on the exam. I thought that this class being in person would be a little better, but I was wrong.
megan was unfocused and unorganized. She was late for posting lectures and constantly cancels meetings with students. I would highly recommend you avoid her classes at all costs.
Listening to the lectures alone won't help, studying outside of class and making sure that you understand the concepts is very important. She is caring and always encourages questions, gave some extra credit points on exams. The exams can be tough, it depends on whether or not you understand the concepts. She does post resources/videos on moodle.
Good professor who knows a lot about the information she teaches. She tries to help tell you what to study for exams but I felt like I needed to study the book to really understand the material. There are options for extra credit which helped and are good opportunities to take advantage of.
Run away! Everyone in our class struggled so much with her as our professor. She's immature and often gave conflicting instructions. Super harsh grader, but won't tell you how to fix what you did wrong. If you get her as a TA, switch sections. She's just as bad as a professor (BIO 1200.) She never answered emails, and left us in the dark constantly
Biology is generally a hard subject for me however Megan allowed me to actually enjoy the class. Very caring of her students and really good lecturer. Her hw was so so easy and her exams were it too difficult but you should definitely spend at least an hour studying. I had her in person however when we went online she fell WAY behind on lectures.
She might be good in a live setting but would not recommend for virtual. She is pretty difficult to talk to if additional help is necessary. Very test heavy. Instead of knowing general large important topics, you need to know very specific, seemingly miniscule things which is pretty hard in an anatomy class where there are hundreds of bones/muscles
Horrible online teacher. Puts minimal effort into her lectures and goes into the smallest details about everything so studying for exams is very overwhelming considering you have no clue what is and isn't going to be tested on. Just poor effort making sure students are learning the information needed. Bad teacher for a tough class:/
Many people have said bad things about her, but I honestly think she's a great biology professor! A little behind sometimes, but this course makes you work and learn how to manage your time with harder courses such as science. She really cares about mental health and gives you opportunities for E.C. and a good grade. She's funny as well!:)
VERY lecture heavy, monotone and reads verbatim from the book on the PowerPoint slide, nothing original and doesn't go into details much. Rarely anything you study is on the exam, lots of HW due every week. This was all online so I do NOT recommend for that. I will have to retake this class. 5 chapters per exam, very overwhelming. Responsive.
Megan is a professor that I WANTED to like. Her teaching style was just not for me. Classes consist of her reading from powerpoints and talking fast. Homework is reading from the book, which is easy credit. Exams are weighted heavily and oddly specific. Studying is hard and very time-consuming though. End of the semester curves helped.
Professor Niedzwieki is sorely underrated. You could get away with only reading the book, but the lecture filters out the unnecessary information for the exam. She's a caring professor who gives out extra credit for participation and on review days. Responsive to emails for extensions if done in advance. Homework is graded for completion.
She's not the best prof, but also not the worst either. Basically just reads off a slideshow during lecture. If you pay attention in class, take good notes, and do the homework you will be just fine. My only complaint is that she was kind of annoying and half the time it seemed like she didn't really want to be there.
Talked very fast in lectures. Almost every exam contained info we didn't even discuss yet and that had to be brought to her attention every single exam. Very little instruction or support. Hard to contact outside of class.
This woman is a terrible teacher. I studied for every exam and still failed. Doesn't teach what's on the exams then lectures us about not studying or paying attention.
Honestly one of the worst experiences I have ever had in college was taking her class. She hardly teaches what's on the exams and I study and can still hardly pass. She gets on us about studying but makes it unclear what to know as well. Can be condescending and is not very helpful when you have questions for her at times. Stay away!
While I had covid, this professor was not willing to do anything and just gave me 0's on things since I wasn't in class. I emailed her days before class letting her know I was positive and she basically said "oh well there's nothing I can do" So basically if you get covid don't tell anyone and just come to class or else your grade will suffer more
No matter how much you study you will still fail all the exams. Acts like she doesn't even care because she is still getting paid. Will take days off at the last second for whatever reason and except us to teach ourselves more than what would have been taught by her in lecture all week, in one day. She ruined my love of anatomy
Her lectures were really interesting and engaging. The homework that comes with the online textbook is a lot but is a great cushion for your grade. Her exams are pretty straightforward.
The tests are incredibly difficult and she is so lazy. Not a fan of the way she ran her classroom or the way she taught her students.
Everything on Connect, assignments on Quizlet. Study guides: very broad Read and memorize everything on the Connect textbook. In-person lab aspect is a joke, no actual learning occurs and the exams are difficult because of this. If you're expecting to learn anything this isn't the professor for you.
Lectures go very fast she covers over 100 slides in an hour, making it hard to get down all the information. Tests are hard but she offers some extra credit assignments.
As a senior, I have now had 3 classes with her. Easily the least caring and worst professor I have come across. Usually is just a TA, so the test and stuff are not made by her. Students are expected to be able to take tests that she does not prepare you for, because she actually does not care.
Labs are online, in person is just for practice and free points (not EC). In lab she does not explain anything, and she couldn't care less about student success. The exams are based off lecture material not the labs, most of which is in the book. The actually labs do not prepare you for tests. To get an A, either already know or teach yourself
DO NOT take her for a lab. Her lab exams were 100x harder than exams I took for the actual class at the same school. She gives a "study guide," which is just an extremely broad list. When you take the exam, the questions are either all trick questions or the answers are extremely similar and specific. She never even posted a lecture video.Terrible.
I have never met such a careless professor and never taught one thing in the lab. Labs seemed like high school labs you walk and pretend to know what you're doing because you have no idea where to start. Participation counts for every class but going to class was pointless. Exams are extremely hard and this is my first ever C+.
Professor doesn't teach at all only reads super fast from slides to get it done and it's hard to write down everything. Before exams she gave us days off instead of reviewing with us. You need to spend many hours teaching yourself the material.
Putting as much effort as she put in the course into this rating.
If I did not already have a degree in science this class would have been impossible. Reads off slides in the most careless manner. Skips labs and cuts them short so she can leave. She texts on her laptop the whole lab. All labs are graded at 100% because she does "divide and conquer" and then you have to share answers with the whole class.
This professor goes very quickly with the slides so be prepared to write your notes as fast as you can. She acts like she doesn't want to be there or teach at all. Would not recommend anyone to take this class if you want to have an easier time.
During class, she reads off the slides. Class can be 30-100 slides. It's helpful to write notes before class or on the PowerPoint. She gives extra credit. There are extra help resources for each chapter that can help you study for the exam. There are iclicker questions during class, which are timed and graded. Exams are easier than expected.
I could tell she was going to be a lazy professor just from her syllabus, it was from the last semester. It had all the wrong dates. Her lectures are literally just her reading off a slide (VERY QUICKLY) with BARE minimum information. I recommend reading the chapter and taking notes before you if you wanna learn at all. doesn't want to be there.
she curves and adds extra credit. loved having her. she is straight forward and will help always when you need it. it is a bio class so its hard regardless if you show up and study you will pass. she is not like other professors and is not looking to fail you. she makes everyhting on the exam straight forward.
Professor Niedzwiecki offered a lot of assignments that bumped up my grade but the tests are almost impossible to do well on. She speeds through a chapter or two during the course of and hour and expects you to understand it and when you don't she blames you. She was very difficult to talk to outside of class.
Honestly She isn't as bad as people say she is. I am a bio major and I think she was a great introductory teacher to what I am getting myself in for. You gotta grind your butt off for any chance at an A. I have A- now but probably am guessing B+ to finish. She's always willing to answer whatever questions you have.Talks fast so type/ don't write.
This was my first class as a freshman and might I say this was an experience. From day one, the class started off very fast, it was always ahead of the other classes and harder to retain due to the influx of information. During lecture the subtitles were on, but it was so hard to catch everything. She spoke very very fast.
This professor didn't teach a single thing the entire time. Literally barley spoke and sat on her phone. In person labs were required, but not helpful for the exams. Labs and activities were nice easy points though. Exams were difficult and 50% of your grade. Would not recommend taking her, although sadly I think she is the only option for 3621
she gives the best reviews and study guides before exams with no surprise questions on exams. it is very straight forward just study and you will do good. did provide extra credit and works with students and answers wuick to questions descriptively
nice as a person, lazy as a professor. it is pointless to even require an in person lab section (you have online labs to complete that are exactly the same), and if you do not go to class you get attendance points off. Exams are 50% of the grade.
Despite these reviews, Megan isn't bad.Lectures are heavy with many powerpoint slides but she gives outside resources to help as well. Watching videos help so much and help comprehend the notes you took in class. she offers extra credit iclicker questions and her exams aren't horrible. she tells you what you should know for the exam.
The class is fully taught by a TA, she just hands out exams. 40% of the grade is on two exams that are very difficult if you haven't already taken physiology lecture. If you want an A either read the lab book fully and understand it all (very specific exam questions), or already know everything in the first place. Take another professor if you can.
Show up to class, does iclicker for attendance and as extra credit. Powerpoint lecture slides are almost empty OR information that will be on the test is only verbalized. She tells you what you need to know for the exam/will repeat it and add heavy emphasis. Takes almost exactly from the book/paraphrases it, read the book! Not bad though :D
Megan was great. She offered a lot of extra credit and at one point I had a 104%. Her tests reflect the lectures and are multiple-choice. She is super caring and will help you succeed.
Megan is a terrible professor. She lectures, but doesn't cover much of the material. The rest of the material is expected to be learned and study on your own time, reading the online textbook which costs $160. You're basically just paying someone to grade you because she barely teaches. Find a different professor that actually teaches you
We have not met the professor-everything is done through the TA. Attendance is required, if you are not on time then you lose points but typically the TA isnt even on time. It is an easy class, but a terrible class. And there are no other options.
Lectures aren't great because she goes through it really fast--it is impossible to take notes and understand it at the same time. There is an online textbook with hw on it each class night (easy and useful, a little expensive). She rambles and acts immature sometimes, but she provides many great resources for studying and we usually get out early.
I bought the textbook but hardly ever used it and still passed with an alright grade. If you need the textbook, rent it online. She does questions mid-class so you need to buy the iClicker app/remote. She talks really fast and hard to take notes, but is a nice woman. Also does review days before exams which is super nice.
Professor is very bright. She answers questions in a very understanding way and usually adds a lot of extra detail when going over her slides. Her course, however, is very packed. There is a lot to cover in a short amount of time. Because of this, she speaks very quickly and doesn't give much time to track back. Students must be paying attention!
Whole class was run by a TA. There was no lectures, you just get thrown into a lab and have to work with a group. Study guides are given for the two exams, but make sure you study even more than that from the book so you can get a good grade on the exams. This class is basically something you have to teach yourself. Wish it was better.
In my opinion Megan is a great professor if you put in the work. You can't expect to pass if you only go to her lectures and don't study at all. Her exams are word for word what she talks about. The way to passing in my opinion is record her lectures and go over them before the exams. Shes a great professor who offers a lot of extra credit.
Megan was my favorite. She was funny and made Biology easy. She gave documents and powerpoints that said EXACTLY what was going to be on the exam. She is very passionate about the subject. I wish I could take her over and over again.
I genuinely don't know how OUcan employ such a "professor". All she does is sit in her office the whole class period and has an attitude every time someone asks for help. This is the most pointless class I've ever taken and I strongly encourage whoever is reading this to take it with a different professor or at a community college if possible.
Personally I love Megan. She is a big picture kind of teacher. Honestly I think she is the easiest bio teacher compared to other people I know in other classes. She has office hours you can go to and ask any questions you want. I think any bio class is hard and you need to study good for any professor. But megan as a person is someone you want
She is a wonderful and caring professor who really wants to see her students succeed. For lab, instead of exams, we had a big final presentation that was worth a significant chunk of our grade but we were given ample time to work on it. The class was overall chill while still having engaging content.
She is so nice and her exams are not hard at all. Attendance does contribute to your grade though which is annoying. She gives extra credit pretty freely and really cares about helping you boost your grade.
Megan is a really great person who wants to see you succeed. She's a fast-paced teacher, and I can 100% tell you if you don't show up to lecture or slip up on online assignments you will fail the class. A lot of work and a lot of time spent studying, but after this semester I'm pretty confident in my knowledge of everything we learned.
So... Lab organization is awful even though the experiments were so interesting. But the instructor did not care whether we did it right or not and whether we did it at all. Some people like it, I do not because I want to learn, not skip the class. The final project is 40% of the grade, and it doesn't have clear grading criteria...
Megan is really a professor that wants to see you succeed. Very reachable, understanding, and accommodating. There were so many random easy opportunities for extra credit, and she gives you really helpful resources for exams. Lectures contained a ton of information you can only get by attending, if you don't show up you will fail.
Overall, I def learned in this class. She is a faced pace teacher with lots of material to cover. But I could tell she wanted her students to succeed. Lots of random extra credit and has helpful review days before exams. If you put in effort you will pass. I am confident with my knowledge in the subject after this class.
10/10! Explains material very thoroughly, grading is extremely clear and fair. Also, your grade is determined by so many other projects and assignments, not just exams. Quizzes are online (and very simple). Exams are very very fair. Could not recommend anyone more than Prof. Niedzwiecki!
I really enjoyed this professor. She talks VERY fast and tries to fit in ver long power points in an hour long class period but, she is very available to answer questions. Her exams are hard but if you study regularly for her class and not the day or few hours before the exam, you should have no problem. Assignments and quizzes are all online.
she is a great person and will help you if you got any questions BUT her lectures make you want to pull your hair out, she talks VERY fast and only has 20% of the lecture on the slides, making you attend those lectures and pay attention. if you miss one thing she says then your only choice is to go hunting in the textbook.
Oddball. She had some sass and talked so fast my head would spin. I didn't study the book at ALL. TA saved me; his kahoots were my main form of studying. She give extra credit, but she yaps so much, I tune her out. TAKE GOOD NOTES. Iclickers, she does them for attendance and randomly during class. Half the time, Iclicker answers are on pp slides.
Great person overall. Her study guides were actually very helpful. However it is not fair how the grades are set up. Doing 40+ pages of homework for a lab for it to count for .36% of the grade. The other anatomy classes got points for just showing up to class and had way more opportunities to get points. Some exam questions were so specific.
BIO IS HARD in general. But, If I had a younger sibling, I'd tell them to take Niedzwiecki. She's a little spicy, but it's because she cares. Stay off your phone, take notes, and participate. She floods you with extra credit, so you don't have to ace every test. As long as you try, you'll be good. She's cool and wants you to succeed.
I took this professor for a summer course. It was one of the easiest and most manageable labs I've had. Almost everything was online with weekly Connect assignments and discussion posts. We also had a simple group presentation. Only the homework was turned in before class. Highly recommend taking it in the summer with the actual professor not a TA.
The professor definitely yaps a lot, gets off topic, and has a pretty brutal attitude. But, you can tell she really cares about students and their personal life, if you are struggling in life or in class, she will do whatever she can to help. The class itself really isn't that bad, her exams are comprehension based, if you understand, you'll excel.
Nope. No. Nope!!!
NOOOOOOOOOO. choose a different teacher.
Dont take, shes nice but class is not: LOT of hw when other classes just gave answers for labwork (which were 60pgs sometimes). DOES NOT give ppt notes, they're blank u have to write fast and record to fill them at home, which means another 3 hrs added to hw. Lecture long, hw longer. You might cry. Stressful. Not even nurses yet but sleep deprived.
i LOVED her she was an amazing professor, I highly recommend her. There's plenty extra credit chances and she's very helpful and truly cares about students. Beware there is a lot of homework. She really takes her students mental health seriously.
