I really enjoyed taking this class. She has a fun way of teaching which included some inclass activities and movies. She is very helpful as well.
Great class. Learned a lot, and very easy. She is awonderful teacher.
Great teacher, TESTS are extremely "HARD"
Megan Seely is an awesome teacher. She made Sociology fun and interesting with her different ways of teaching. She is very energetic and a joy to learn from. Her tests aren't hard as long as you study. The study guides are helpful so do them! I would definitely take any class that she teaches.
She is an amazing teacher. Loves her subject. There is no homework but you want to take notes, because she gets all her test questions from her powerpoints. If you study hard(I slacked) you will be fine on all the tests, they arent that hard. Dont really need the textbook. If you have the chance to take her, do it, shes awesome!
Loved her to death. A lot of experience in her field, Interesting class, you always know what she wants, and very personable. I even signed up for a class I don't need next semester, just to take her again.
E-A-S-Y A!!! i just showed up to class, played soduko, and joined into some discussions. tests are easy if you study off the study guide. book is not needed for this class, but use the book companion website for your study guide. she posts lectures on blackboard so no note taking. gives 2-3pg essays and those are super easy too. take megan!
Great teacher! Loved her class. Just need to stay on top of the reading, so you know what's going on for the tests. Going to take Soc. 5 with her in the fall. She also has a great book: "Fight Like A Girl". I recomend it!
I liked her. Her belly was about to pop and she was such a cute pregnant lady. She is really funny and smart. She is good at staying neutral with trouble-makers. The book is a lot of the test. Missing class too much will screw up your points, so watch that. Provides about 15 points extra credit for the semester.
I thought that she was a great instructor. I took her class online and it was a breeze, just stay up on your discussion boards and be sure to provide a full answer, not just a sentence. If she doesn't like your DB answer, she'll let you know so you can still get your full points. I would take her class again if I had to.
Don't take her. she makes you feel like you're in 1st grade. All those damn class group activities (in which we played monopoly/put puzzles together/etc) were absolutely ridiculous. We're in college now and we're adults. therefore, we can think abstractly (We don't have to "do" to learn). I hated going to the class. too much group work. Easy A tho
I took her class and then dropped it. I came back to her and took her online class and its easy. She gives study guides to the exams and grades good. No late homework taken though. If you keep up with the work, it's an easy A!
Took OL class. There is a fair amount to do each week, but if you stay on top of it, it's an easy class. Little over the top with PC, but that probably just goes with the subject.
Class was interesting, but she graded very hard. She was also very helpful and not that much HW
take soc 1 with someone else. Unless of course you are still stuck in high school. As a mature college student, I always felt like a little bit of my intelligence had been taken away once i left the classroom. We played monopoly, put puzzles together, did group activities. Come on...this is college now. It's an easy A if you can put up with it.
She is an awesome teacher. She is very passionate about what she teaches, but does tend to get off topic. Pretty much every class turns into a disscusion.
She is extremely intelligent when it comes to feminism and women's health. My class felt very comfortable with her and she is easy to talk to. Her exams are easy if you take the time to review the study guide. I highly recommend her, if you are interested in learning...
Wow, she must have changed her syllabus because it's not the easy A anymore. Weekly quizes and discussion boards and 2 midterms. Easy to get the B. The A is different. In the online quizzes shell put in very very very specific q's which are almost impossible to answer. I guess this is to prevent looking up the answers during tests. Good luck! lol
Megan is great!!! Took Soc. 5 and it was her first time teaching that class. Found it to be very interesting, learned quite a bit from her. I would take another one of her classes any time!!
i am sure she is a nice lady but i took her online class this semester and lets just say if you forget to do something or have a very very valid excuse she doesnt give a rats @$$. no compassion for even online students who she has no idea of their situation
Fun teacher in the beginning, but as class wore on she started slowing down. PBS movies made up her lecture, and was, frankly, a waste of my time. If I wanted to watch TV, I would have stayed home. She is a really insightful teacher, when she wants to be. I was 4 min late to class, and she wouldn't let me take a 5 ? quiz in 30sec. Real cheap, Megan
Interesting class, I appreciated the information i learned and it was VERY easy. You go in, listen to what the lecture is about (although its probably more about her personal life) and you get tested. I NEVER opened a book, and passed with an A. Easy grader, not much work. Literally!
One of my favorite classes, and teachers at Sierra. She makes Sociology fun and engaging, and she is very easy to talk to and to get along. I would highly recommend her, and I would take as many Sociology classes, with her as I could.
I took this class online over the summer and it was easy. There were about 1 or 2 discussion board topics p/week, a few quizzes, a midterm, and a final. Exams are mostly mutliple choice and true/false with a few short answer questions. Answers to exam questions are straight from the book. Never even read the book & still got a high B in the class.
Best professor i have ever had. Her class is very predictable so when you cant make it you dont have to stress. Her lectures are always interesting and well they make you want to come to class. There is very little homework. One paper a week. and she prepares you well for all tests. I recommend taking her class.
awesome! great lectures and easy to follow. show up to class, listen, do the homework and its an easy A!
Seely is one of the best professors at Sierra College. You actually look forward to going to class. I took her for Soc 1 in the spring and took her Soc 4 class in the fall. Both classes were fun and i will miss taking them. Her class discussions are engaging, and she had an awesome sense of humor. Take as many classes with her as you can
I took this class online and at first I hated it. Basically, once you get the hang of how she expects everything to be done it gets a lot better. All of the multiple choice questions come directly from the text, which can be a good or bad thing. Overall, pretty good online class. . .I am interested in being in class with her.
The textbook is very interesting. You definitely will need the textbook since she doesn't really do a lecture. There is a 5 question quiz each week. Very easy but have your book ready. There are a number of short writing assignments. Don't be fooled she grades these fairly hard. One blog due each week. Tests can be difficult.
Overall, I felt that the Professor graded fairly and was well-engaged with her students throughout the semester. The one thing I objected to were the short answer questions that were thrown into her mid-term and final examination. Pardon me, but you need more than just a few minutes to answer comples questions- all of it should've been multiple ch.
Took her online & never would again. Most online teachers post assignments then give you 5-7 dys to complete. She waits until 1-2 dys to post material prior to the deadline; she expects students not to procrastinate but then does it herself. She encourages you to take concept & online quizzes to help study but then NONE of those are on her tests.
Seems the general consensus is she isn't a great online teacher. I have her online & she doesn't seem to get why some students take online courses. Her expectations are high & unrealistic. There's really no prep for the tests, so basically, memorize the text & you'll do okay in the course.
Reality Check, it's COLLEGE! She shouldn't have to spoon feed people, a lot of learning is done with the reading and action. Online classes are hard, but I don't know, Megan has been a huge support with my experience on campus, that is why I have taken multiple classes of hers.
Currently taking Soc1 with her and I find her to be a fun teacher. Many criticize her teaching methods, but learning through somewhat childish activities (assembling a puzzle, then figuring out how it relates to Sociology) actually helped me learn more. Overall a fun teacher and eager to help her students.
Not the worst teacher, but I would not recommend her. I took her online class. Takes her weeks before she grades assignments! Randomly grades papers. She will give you an A on one paper then and F on the next. Not very clear on what she expects. Thank god it is over!
Took class online... pretty easy, but the class if out of a VERY low amount of points. If you make sure you know the key terms, tests/quizzes shouldn't be too hard. She takes a long time to grade papers, but oh well. Taking the class online beats sitting through a class each week that I don't have much interest in.
Took it online. I'm usually an A student and I received some very questionable grades. If It's not her style of writing then she's probably not going to give you a good grade. She lets others say clearly offensive things to others in their blogs on Ning as well. Not pleased, won't take her again.
Took online. If you don't have interest in this class, take it online. One of the better online classes I've taken. She's very clear. I just read lectures then used book during quizzes, I always got an A. Took in summer, DB and quiz every week. DBs had to be 4-5 detailed paragraphs. Very liberal class, be prepared if you are conservative.
She is an AMAZING professor. I took her first ever Feminism and Social Action class and loved it. Going into the class I wasn't to sure how it would be but i instantly fell in love. She has a genuine love for teaching. She can get a little off topic but it still relates to sociology. I love her class.
She is suppperr awesome. She loves sociology and loves her students! She will help with anything and is very personable. You have to read the text if you want to do well but she not boring at all with her lectures and really gets the class involved.
LIBERAL TEACHER!!! Seely was very bias in her teachings, 'christians get married young to have sex' very steriotypical. Class isn't very hard, just don't agree w/some of her opinions, like about how 2 yr olds masturbating is a good normal thing. Class got sidetracked ALOT during powerpoint lectures. Positive-lots of class participation & fun hw.s
Words cannot describe how great of a teacher she is. If you want to think in new ways and open your mind to truth and infinite knowledge, take a class from her. Her knowledge and wisdom is astounding. She is extremely funny and class is actually fun to be in.
took her tv class. she was very organized and promptly returned emails with questions i had. posted all assignments and tests on blackboard. would definently reccommend her
Megan was a great teacher, very insightful, energetic and organized. Soc1 required your participation and critical thought in class, overall easy, but don't let yourself get behind because she seems so lax!
She has so much passion for sociology. Great teacher, very outspoken, very knowledgeable. She really does open your mind into understanding our society differently and for the better. Do all the essays, study for the exams, and an A should be guaranteed.
Stay up on assignments and you should get an A! Easy and really made me enjoy the class!
I thoroughly enjoy learning about Sociology, but her online class is not a class at all. She is not involved in the discussion board & she does not respond well to helping out through emails. I feel like I am in a class that is run by students and not a prof. Her online class is easy breazy, but I came here to learn and be challenge.
Online class is easy. Little involvment from her on BB. I wonder how well other students r doing because their posts are minimal and lack info from the chaptrs. This class is an easy grade
Overall a good class... I have taken a few of her online classes. Def required to do the readings if you want to pass the quizes. She is a fair teacher as far as grades go.
Online – This class was very easy. Basically you post once a week on BB and take a few multiple choice tests/quizzes. You don’t need to read the chapters just know the terms and you’ll do fine. NEVER turn in anything late because you won’t get credit. If you’re just looking for an easy ‘A’ this is a good class.
She absolutely loves the sound of her own voice. She will talk the whole entire class period. Buying the book is a must and the reading is required if you want to pass. This is one of the hardest classes I've taken due to all the terms she makes you memorize and tests you on. Good luck. Take the online class if you have the option. I've heard it's much much easier.
Online class is so easy. Good teacher. Barely any homework.
She does not participate in anything on the db online. If you're late on a post, you get no pints. Quizzes are on the weekly chapters, so read them if you want to do well. I know many who like her, but I don't get it. She's a nice person, but not the best professor. Her ppt's don't even explain the chapter. Online is Learning on your own, period.
I felt like I didn't have a teacher! Easy online class, easy tests, one paper. Could take this class with your eyes closed and half asleep. A couple of comments from her would have been good so we knew she was around! Worst online class as far as interaction.
Very difficult instructor. Her power points were directly from her classroom with no explanations. She had no participation with online students. After taking her quizzes, you cant review them to see what answers you missed. I have taken several online courses and this was the most frustrating.
ONE OF MY FAVORITE TEACHERS. I would definitely recommend this teacher. She will not force any ideas or beliefs on you, all she aims to do is to inform you. This class is easy as long as you show up and listen. Lectures are not labored, but interesting. I only had five online quizzes & one project/research paper that you have weeks to prepare for.
Between Kattman and Seely, I'd pick Kattman. Seely, is a bit dry and boring. Kattman is funny and sarcastic :) Both are passionate, so in the end, it depends on what professor suits your personality and which one is teaching the course you need.
Awful instruction, if you want to call it that. Grades DB 3-4 weeks later at times. It is an easy course but the instructor is vague, and doesn't meed the same criteria she expects from you.
Megan Seely is awesome! Her class was really easy, but I learned a lot! I took this class online and really enjoyed it! She is really nice as well!
She is a very knowledgeable professor regarding sociology. Passionate about teaching and semi fair regarding assignments. She doesnt overload you with work but she grades hard on her papers so put in the time and do what she asks. Eng1A is not a Prereq but if you cant write amazing essays or site work properly citations are imp here
VERY GOOD TEACHER. I RECOMMEND HER IF YOU NEED A SOCIOLOGY TEACHER. JUST DO ALL YOUR WORK AND YOU CAN EASILY PASS WITH EASE.
I mean honestly if you can't get a A then it's a personal issue. This class is the definition of easy. Put forth minimal effort, don't need to read the book just scan and use quotes from it, use the glossary for tests and you got an A.
Easy class, but she has and attitude. If you question her about a grade, her answer for everything is see the syllabus. Yet the answer is not on there and does not apply to your grade. I received an A very easily but she is abrupt and does not provide detail to any questions or grading. I felt like I was talking to a robot.
If you're interested in sociology and like to learn, DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS. Discussion boards worth 20 pts each. When I missed a discussion post (due to institutional error) my grade dropped an entire letter grade. Reading not required as all exams are based on key terms from book. Getting an A is pretty easy but level of learning is infinitesimal.
Her deadline is 10:00 not 11:59 like all other classes. The DB's alternate the day of the week when it's due so sometimes it's due Tues & sometimes it's due Thurs. Personally, I do class work from 9- 12am everyday and her 10:00 deadline and alternating schedules did not work for me at all. I would recommend turning in all of your db's on Tues.
Very easy class, would've taken the tv course had I not taken other classes directly after. She tends to get off topic but when you read the book the exams are self explanatory.
This class was a nice break in my hectic schedule. Megan LOVES soc and is super knowledgeable and made it so the class was applicable to us here and now. You do a chapter note card for each chapter, 3 50 pt tests, a couple quizzes and 2 small papers. Simple, definitely recommend!
I toke her class online. The tests count for a majority of your grade and the blogs. Her blogs contain very interesting topic and she knows her material. If you study a put in the time your get an A.
Her discussion posts are worth major points and she refuses to have them come up in the "Coming Up" tab. So you really need to look for it in her modules, not her announcements. As this being my first online class, I am not doing well because of her poor organization skills. Her tests are totally hard, even with the text and notes. Do not take.
Rate your professor is different than before so I'm still getting used to it. She is the worst online teacher I have ever had and she offers no grace in her grading policy and any time she was able to grade me she found some way to dock my points. Don't take her class if you can help it. Her due dates are weird.
Class was great, almost every week discussion board which is worth 20 points. You can get 100% on discussions as far as you show you read the chapter. Quizzes worth 10 points on each chapter, and a final paper worth 50 points. Only one extra credit assignment which is a discussion board. That's about it :)
Required to read between 1-3 chapters a week, discussions that she grades on her standards(without clarifying them), helpful when it comes to asking questions, lots of assignments, but fairly easy as long as you read.
Very serious about turning assignments in on time. Also is very rude in her emails. DONT TAKE HER ONLINE. She writes way too much things, so you always have to double check what she wrote to turn things in on time. Discussions are really hard, never got full credit.
An "A" isn't impossible but have to be organized. Course set up on Canvas is unclear & difficult to find assignments. Slow to respond to emails and doesn't provide feedback when grading. You'll feel in the dark during this class. Make sure to apply what you learn in each chapter to discussion boards. Read other comments, they are pretty accurate.
Great teacher, funny, knowledgeable. If you're a conservative student, you won't care for her. No final, a group project, and a couple short papers. A lot of your grade is based on attendance, so you better show up, as you lose points for each absence. You get to pick the social problems to study throughout the semester. Two books, both are so-so.
She is awful! I will never take a class of her's again. She is extremely tough on grading, test cover more than she said they would so studying didn't help much. She is one of those professors that acts all superior and is looking down at u like you are just an ant.
Megan Seely is the worst online teacher I have taken. Tests are VERY hard and cover a lot of material. Even on well thought out and detailed work it is hard to get an A. She offers no grace in her grading policy and will give you 0 points if anything is turned in even 1 minute late. Her due dates vary week to week, so no consistency. AVOID!
Pretty straight forward online class consists of quizzes and tests that you have to take within a time limit its obviously open notes so of course the quizzes and tests are harder because its more detailed just catch up on reading and take good notes so you dont end up shuffle through your book before the time runs out
Took the class online, it's a really easy class if you do the work and the tests. A shouldn't be hard to get. But almost no extra credit besides a blog assignment at the end of the semester. Overall an easy class and a great teacher. The subject is very interesting.
I took this class as a junior in high school and had no troubles. The material is interesting and applies to many majors. There's no mid term or final, just quizzes every week (that are VERY easy). It's good to look through her course notes and outlines but you can get an A without even opening the book. She was very helpful and pleasant!
easy class, took it online. almost no extra credit offered. so make sure you are on top of everything.
Professor Seely's online Sociology class is so EASY! TAKE IT! You will pass by putting in the bare minimum amount of work. Just post to the discussion boards that she posts, you don't need to respond to any other students, and she doesn't even post every week. There are a few weeks when there is nothing do. I never touched the book!
Nothing other than discussion boards and weekly quizzes. The discussions are hard and unclear a lot of times. Discussion boards don't pop up on the top right of canvas, have to go look for it in the modules. Everything is due by 10pm, not midnight, that is a setback as well. Overall, its an okay class.
Megan is so funny and sweet! Everything she has taught me has really helped me now that I have transferred. She is really smart too and you will learn a lot. Do the work and should be fine/ She helps you if you need it and i2s not stingy
She's passionate about what she teaches. She makes lectures interesting and has class discussions. Would take again
I just finished an online class with her, and she was okay. Unlike most profs, her deadlines for submitting assignments were at 10 pm and not 11:59 pm which was really inconvenient. She doesn't give feedback at all, and isn't involved in discussion boards. If you do everything on time and according to the rubric's posted, it should be an easy A.
Just finished a semester with her. Very tough on grading , and a stickler to the rules. Will not bend the rules. Test are hard and you have to pay attention to how the questions are worded... A bit tricky. Dose not give out very many points so if you fail one test it brings your grade down a lot. Overall an easy class just very hard on graiding.
Wasn't overly impressed. She wasn't consistent with her time frame for work or quizes due. Definitely not as helpful as my biopsychology teacher. Our first discussion due had 2 different dates, I only saw the second one. Only 3 turned it in on the date she actually required. It is an intro class and was boring to say the least.
As a sociology major, I absolutely adored her. She was caring and extremely accessible outside of class. You will have weekly online quizzes, that are straight out of the text book. You will only have two papers, a campus reaction and a final paper. Great professor! Class was super fun.
Professor Seely is a pretty good professor! Shes very entertaining and funny! There are 3 exams, all of which are like easy/medium difficulty. Not much homework other than reading from the textbook. But there are 3, 5-7 page essays you need to write throughout the semester. Overall, Id say fairly easy A, and she makes the class entertaining!
This. Class. Was. So. Hard. For. Me. I found it extremely difficult to stay focused during lectures and pay attention... Tests are long and not similar to review sheets. Good luck
Would recommend for Intro to sociology. Her lecture notes are optional but they help a lot with the exams. Do the writing assignments they boost your grade a lot. Overall great person and personality. do not need textbook and is easy to email.
Textbook is free & online. Ridiculously easy class, to the point of being boring. Can easily pass the class with an A with only skimming through the lectures and text. Many weeks there is no homework, only reading or watching long videos (which are often 20 minutes to 1 hour).
She knows well about sociology, just gets really boring when lecturing. Very hard grader and doesn't bend rules for anybody unless under extreme circumstances. Fail a test and you can drop a letter grade.
So completely unorganized and all over the place. I enjoyed the content in the textbooks but the unnecessarily tough grading ruined it for me. I followed directions for all assignments and still never received full credit for anything. Avoid if you can.
Horrible. All I can say was horrible. Take this class if all you want to do is talk only about her views on politics even though it's NOT a pol. class. She starts class with one slide and leaves it there until the end because she spends the whole class period ranting about things that aren't on the test. Be prepared to teach yourself the material.
Megan does have a really good sense of humor. However, this class is really boring. Her lectures are all about definitions on terms but the test are all based on application. She does not teach how to apply what you learn to everyday life so I found the exams to be really hard. I had a C- most of the semester but extra credit and papers got me a B.
Somehow Megan made Soc 1 feel like a Gender Studies class(the awful kind). Awkward SJW rhetoric was preached when it wasn't relevant to the text. One test question literally had the dictionary definition of "egalitarian" not have egalitarian as an option: the correct answer was "feminism" of course. This is the opinion of a bleeding-heart liberal.
Took her soc27 class required by major. Online she is a very easy teacher, and there is barely any homework. Read the textbook, do the discussion boards and you'll be fine. You don't have to agree with her personal politics, but I appreciate having a teacher that is passionate knowledgeable about her subject.
The class was really boring but really straightforward and easy in my opinion. Just show up, do the work, and review for her tests and you should be fine. There are two papers due throughout the semester and she grades them easy as long as you connect the topic to her class. Overall, boring class boring teacher easy B/A if you can tolerate boredom
She's freaking amazing, easy to talk to and you'll really enjoy her class!
Professor Seely's class was just okay. It was an online class, so you had to teach yourself and watch multiple videos. Overall, we had 3 exams, 3 papers, 3 quizzes, 1 discussion post, and 1 extra credit assignment. Also, we were required to make a twitter account and tweet for a grade, which was really odd. Easy as an online class, but hard if not
Mediocre. Had to contact her on two separate occasions after she gave me a zero on assignments I turned in. Online lectures all have grammatical errors and missing references. Lectures and chosen text are politicized to the point of being a one sided monologue. In my opinion, this class/professor lacks academic credibility.
Really admired this prof until realizing that she doesn't remain objective in many ways. Her opinion of you will affect your grade, her opinion of the subject will change the material. Unclear instructions on many assignments. Using twitter as hw is patronizing. Very much agree with her opinions, but shouldn't be graded on it.
I dont understand all the negative reviews. Professor Seely is fantastic. I have taken two of her classes and am about to take a third. She is very knowledgeable and gives fun and valuable assignments. Highly recommended.
Only offered one extra credit and it was at the end of the semester. She was very critical grading wise if you didnt have the same views as her. Dont recommend.
Megan is awesome ! Thats all :)
Professor Seely is a pretty good professor. I've taken her for two classes, and you won't be sorry to take her. She's a lot of fun, and really passionate. Tests are difficult, but you'll pass if you pay attention. Attendance really matters.
Absolutely amazing! I loved her class, she's very caring and the class was very interesting. She even did weekly check ins and one week I had written that I forgot an assignment, the next week she messaged me to remind me about the upcoming due dates. I really appreciated that.
Professor Seely was a super sweet professor. She had a very clear grading system and provided a rubric for every assignment and was always available when needed. There were weekly quizzes, but they had unlimited attempts and were straightforward if you did the reading. If you have the chance to have Professor Seely, do so.
Great professor. Very passionate about what she teaches, she cares about her students success in her classes. Definitely would take her classes again! Very few assignments & everything is easy & light work.
Super nice Professor. Sends email check-ins, reminders of late work, offers extra credit. There is a textbook but its online and she provides it. If you have any prior knowledge of sociology at all you can breeze through this class super easily.
TOOK HER AT SCC. Shes great. Be open-minded, do the work and youre good.
I took her at SCC, but this class is very informative. Ive learned so much. I went in being apprehensive about feminism, and came out with a whole new perspective! We use a book she wrote for the class and theres a lot to choose from if you need extra credit. You must do the work, not super hard but not an easy A either. Love her.
Pretty easy, it took a little to get used to her mode of teaching (the lectures were kinda scattered around) but besides that it was easy. Most weeks there was a "share" discussion, And she also had a separate longer discussion which was occasionally. Very few assignments and the exams/quizzes has unlimited tries.
Definitely take over the Summer term (6wks)! NURSING MAJORS highly recommend taking this instead of Anthro. Professor Seely is super nice, weekly quizzes can be taken multi times until perfect. 2 DB/week, read the lect. mat. and use common sense to easily do those. Professor easily reached by email and grades relatively quickly. NO GROUP PROJECTS!
Weekly quizzes have unlimited tries. Two discussion boards a week; a "Share" and a "Weekly Topic". No textbook bought, a few pages each week from online textbook she post links in each weekly module. Super easy class, highly suggest take in the summer. Clear grading and rubrics for everything. Easily reached by email and sends reminders via email.
This was an easy class, especially for a summer one. Shes def. the prof. to take if you want an easy A. Youll have one, 25 question quiz per week, with 2 DB p/week. The DBs and material are really interesting & fun, & the best part is that theres no midterm or final! The quizzes are also untimed & you can retake them as many times as you want!
I took her last spring and she was great. Theres only about three assignments for week one being a very easy check-in. Shes also very good about emailing you reminders if you do not have an assignment submitted on the due date. On top of that she also gives extra credit at the end of the semester so you can catch up if you were behind. Easy class
Ive taken two of her classes now and the second one was much harder than the first. She gives reminders when your assignments are not completed as well as gives you extra credit to be able to make up missing work. One thing Ive struggled with is her criteria for grading, it was not very clear so my grades have reflected it.
Professor Seely is AMAZING! After taking her Sociology class in spring 2021, I was so inspired by what I learned, I decided to CHANGE my major from Admin. of Justice to Sociology! She is very thorough in her lectures; discussions are weekly, participation is required, critical thinking required. Take her classes! You won't regret it.
Professor Seely's course has been fairly easy for me. There are weekly readings/lectures and roughly 2 discussion boards each week. The discussion boards are pretty easy as well. There are 3 exams and a couple of quizzes throughout the course and you can take them as many times but you cannot see what you got right or wrong. Solid fair course.
If you are on the right, you will hate this class and be triggered. Seely was a great professor, she checked in weekly. The class was super easy and weekly you had about two discussions. Quizzes and tests could be taken unlimited times and were easy. I thought the modules were very interesting. She offers extra credit. To me it was an easy A.
Such a good prof and class. She really cares for her students and the material. Super clear about what needs to be done during the week, points , etc. DBs are throught provoking and you can learn so much in this class- yet its not difficult at all. I took it as an 8 week and would recommend it. Readings can be a little heavy, so planning is key!
SOC001 with Megan was a cakewalk. The class is graded on participation, online quizzes, tests with unlimited retakes, and one paper. I agree with other students that she is a feminazi and I found her to be hypocritical at times. She makes her politic obvious and really enjoys arguing with students. Her class was an easy A but I did not enjoy it.
This class was very easy and almost never stressful , with online tests having unlimited retakes. Participation is really important as she does a in class activity almost everyday that cannot be made up. Her lectures are hit and miss with a few really interesting ones but most of them are boring. Extra credit is offered but is worth very little.
I took this course/professor online. There is barely any weekly homework which seems amazing until you get to the unit test and realize that you've been given nothing to prepare for the material other than been told to do the reading. Irrelevant discussion boards, and really surface-level material in my opinion.
Quizzes are challenging because the questions are oddly worded, or the information is nowhere to be found, but they can be taken continuously until the due date. There is a 3-5 page essay at the end of the term. Very reading and lecture-heavy and assignments aren't very thought-provoking. Not hard to get a good grade, just not particularly fun.
Took the class online and it was one of the easiest classes ever. Each week there's a typed lecture (no video lecture) and some supplemental YouTube clips. Some weeks have a DB but most just have a simple "share" assignment and a check-in. 4 quizzes total and a final essay. Offers a ton of extra credit opportunities. Didn't learn a ton but was easy
Professor Seely was great and I enjoyed her Gender class! She is an easy grader, so as long as you do the work and reading, you will get an A in the class. She is also always available if you have questions. Both my sister and I took her for different classes and had the same experience with her being a great teacher!
Megan was great! In her class we primarily took notes from slideshows, which, for me, personally got boring fast. We also watched a couple movies, but that was about it. Exams/quizzes were easy, a little studying is good. However, a lot of times she would not finish slideshows in class so to get the information you had to go back and watch at home.
This was an easy introductory course, but I felt like the amount material was lacking. I often had to do outside research to complete my assignments. However, each discussion board we completed was great and an important part of Sociology. If you need more help understanding Sociology, I would recommend another professor.
Professor Seely has a very nice disposition and have a fun personality. Although her expectations can be a little too high for her students. She did not work well with personal issues and was quite persistent that everyone needs to dedicate their personal time to some sort of community work to complete an end of term project.
Get ready for the most busy work you'll ever do. And oh, if you need to get your grade up at all, plan on failing or just dropping out of the class because there is no such thing! At first I was excited to take thus class, and I quickly learned prof. Seely is extremely inconsiderate nor helpful! A nice lady, but you don't want her as a professor.
Megan's SOC0001 class was pretty straightforward. Weekly discussions and easy quizzes you could retake - unstuck AI was a lifesaver for studying. Not much lecture, but interesting material. Overall, a solid introductory course.
At first, I thought this class was super easy, with minimal assignments with a lot of discussion posts and I had a really solid grade the entire time up until the final paper. She did not provide any extra credit throughout the entire course and doesn't respond to emails EVER.
She's def on the liberal side and very feminist, if that's going to be an issue for you then don't bother. Besides that Prof. Seely is a very good professor, most of the quizes and tests are very easy to pass. Just do your assignments and you'll get an easy A
I took SOC 1 and found this class interesting. Professor Seely was an easy grader, and her lectures were interesting. My only complaint is that she is a slow grader. Other than that, I enjoyed her class.
I'm a repeat student of Professor Seely. This class was interesting, and I found Professor Seely's grading criteria to be clear. My only tip is to make sure to quote the text/included videos in the discussions. I would take another class from her in the future.
Megan is very outgoing and loves to help. She tends to go on tangents that aren't related to lectures, which makes you fall greatly behind. Everything is posted online, but she will go over everything in class. Tests are easy. You can't see what you get wrong, but you can take it unlimited times. She implements fun activities throughout the class.
My only (minor) criticism of Seely is that she can go on tangents during lecture and talk too long. Otherwise I enjoyed her class a lot. She is obviously passionate about her field & more than happy to chat if you're interested. Would definitely take again
Megan was a great professor for my online Sociology of Gender class (SOC0027). The material was entertaining, informative, and easy to understand. The quizzes were pretty easy, as everything was taken from the textbook. Discussions were easy as well overall. The final was a little time-consuming (it was a 3-5 page paper) but it wasn't too bad.
She's super sweet and approachable. Make sure you're in class to get participation points—they matter! Really chill and makes class enjoyable—definitely a professor you'll like.
