Megan is the best math teacher. She makes sure all her students have the keys to succeed! She is great at giving notes, she writes out the math problems in an easily readable way. She is very sweet and approachable! she let us use a notecard on the test!
If you have the chance to take her, take it! She is an awesome teacher and she always has time to help. She makes sure to slow the class down if there are questions and paces the class to your needs. She is very friendly and her class is easy to understand. There is some homework but not excessive amounts. I LOVED this class.
Awesome instructor! I highly recommend taking her class for those who struggle with math. She is very clear, goes with the pace of the class and is extremely friendly. In this class you don't have to be shy about asking questions.
very helpful I actually learned from very, unlike previous instructors, funny, very clear, great instructor
Best math instructor ever. She is funny, helps students, if you need an extension she will not hesitate. She makes math seem so easy and understandable. AWESOME MEGAN
Great teacher and person. So helpful. Willing to give extensions on HW. Helped me so much. I never would have passed if she had not been so helpful. On tests if I asked if I was going in the right direction she would say yes or no and point & give me a hint as to what I should be doing without really telling me how to do it. I so appreciated her.
LOVE her!! this class was great because she made sure we knew what we were doing. Math is not my strong point by any means...I was impressed with how she helped all of us understand. Best part is that her tests are not long, each question is worth a certain amount of points and knowing that there weren't 50-60 problems to solve is great!!
Great teacher! she has a open office you can just drop in before and after class. She helped me out 15 minutes before and exam in her office and the exam was for her class! Extremely nice lady. would recommend to anyone
Great instructor, She was pregnant with twins and still manage to show up to class everyday with a great attitude. Class is not mandatory but if you are absent you are missing notes. Test are simple. 10-20 problems per test. 4 test per semester. Homework due on a weekly basis online. Highly recommend her.
She is really sweet, and she was really pregnant. I hate math, but she made it as painless as possible. She made it clear that if anyone needed help they could go to her. It was honestly never needed because she explained everything so well. She makes really corny math jokes too.
She might get off topic a lot, but you will learn something. Very friendly and nice.
Math is one of my worst subjects. However Professor Swallia was very understanding and really helped. This teacher saved my semester. She was very sweet and over all easy. There are a lot of quizzes and 3 major test.
She is AMAZING! I am awful at math, but for the first time, I actually enjoyed math and knew what was going on. I love how she teaches. She tells you how to solve the problems and writes down the steps clearly. Would take her again in a heart beat. I wish more teachers were like her.
She was the BEST professor I had the whole semester! i enjoyed her class so much, she makes great notes and are easy to understand. She is very sweet and caring. TAKE HER!! if you take good notes and are always in class EASY A!
Best teacher period.
She is so awesome! You can tell she has a love for math and teaching it. Her whole bright demeanor makes you want to go to class. I hate math but this teacher made it so much easier to understand!
Great teacher! Not good at math but she does a great job at explaining things. Lectures are clear. Four tests. She's there to help. Loved her class set-up
Megan Swallia is hands down the best math teacher I've ever had. The way she explains and breaks down material was essential in me passing this course. Her lectures are informative and helpful. Clearly passionate about what she does and is there for you whenever you need her. She also gives partial credit on exams and the final.
Megan is always in a great mood and ready to teach. She always explains the material clearly and is glad to answer any questions. I had three exams plus the final and the homework was due online through WebAssign. She made the homework due a week later and gave 99 tries to get the answer right. Megan wants to see all of of her students succeed.
Prof. Swallia is amazing! She is very entertaining and you can tell she loves her job! She gives great examples on how to solve problems, and she will go over any material again she feels the class didn't understand. The HW isn't too hard, and the system lets you try many times for the correct answer. I highly recommend this professor!
Megan is a great math teacher. She is very clear, helpful and always happy to answer any questions. She takes the time to explain everything in detail and gives great notes. Tests, homework, and as well as attendance count towards your grade. I am not the best when it comes to math and she really made it possible for me to understand the material
This professor was amazing! She's always in a great mood to teach and makes sure her students understand. She uses webassign for hw which I wasn't really a fan of, but other than that it was a good class. Just study and go to her exam reviews!!
Megan is one the best math instructors I ever had. Math has always been the subject that I struggled with but Megan made it easy to follow. She provided detailed instructions for each chapter and went over certain confusing homework problems. She is also enjoyable to be around since she is funny and caring.
Megan is AMAZING!! She always comes to class with a great attitude & a smile on her face. Four tests & one cumulative final and the best part is she gives partial credit. Math isn't my best subject, but they way Megan teaches makes it easy to understand. Attend class, do the homework, & come to review days and you'll pass.
Ms. Swallia explains lectures with clarity but does leave stuff out that will be on the exams. Homework does not count towards your grade, but it is highly recommended because most problems will be similar to the ones on the exam. Your grade is composed of five exams and each exam is 20% of your final grade.
Do your self a favor and take Ms. Megan , she is a great teacher. IF you show up to class and pay attention everyday, you should be able to get an A plus. She offers extra credit on every exam, not all of teachers do that.
Pros: -nice personality -likes to know students -uses color coding -neat handwriting -gives extra credit -makes study guides Cons: -rambles A LOT -will hold back class to answer one question -terrible homework program which does not help at all with how to solve problems
Megan is a wonderful professor, she is sweet, kind, funny and knows how to make math easy for those who struggle with Math. The homework is essential and so is participating in the review days. The reviews online are not mandatory but if you are bad at math You should do the reviews. Take her class, she's amazing at her job.
I thought Mrs. S was amazing! She's very detailed in her notes, she has some funny (& quick) stories, and she is always willing to answer questions. I would recommend buying the textbook. I did the practice problems in the book she suggested on some handouts and I got an A for the class. Overall, great course.
very great teacher! explains everything so good and makes it so easy to understand. If you pay attention and study you will pass. makes math super easyy to understand!
Wow. Swallia is amazing. She was sick nearly half the semester (non-contagious) and stuck it out the whole time. (except for one review day that I didn't think we really needed anyway) I wish she got an award for it. She was always in the tutor lab when I needed her. Her notes are great.. all thoughtfully written out. Not improvised(i h8 that) WOO!
She is super sweet and very energetic. Math is not an easy subject for me and I took her for math 96 and changed my schedule around so I could be sure to take her for math 124. She makes it as easy as she can and gives clear organized notes. I would take her yet again if I had to take math.
I took Megan Swallia for my Math 124 requirement. She's very bubbly and makes a lot of jokes throughout class. Her class has 3 exams, one final, and homework assignments. Make sure you do all the homework assignments because it'll be 20% worth your grade. You can tell she really cares and wants her students to learn. She also drops the lowest exam.
Megan's amazing!! I learned so much, and I actually retained the information. This was a 6 wk summer class so it was work, but well worth it. I'd take her again in a heartbeat. If you struggle in math, this is your teacher!!
She is funny and caring. You must show up to class or you won't pass. Take notes and study them and you will get an A for sure! She's clear on the break down of her class and grading. Her lectures are so clear that even a 5 year old could learn! I didn't study for one test and it hurt my grade, I got the grade I worked for.
Shes so sweet! TEN OUT OF TEN would recommend! She makes hard math, super easy. I wish she did higher math because she makes if fun. She also gets so excited for little things like axis symmetry.
Really nice and understanding, gets that you aren't just taking her class. Extremely merciful with the homework, and is really receptive of questions.
Math is not my favorite subject!!! Mrs. Swallia helped me understand Math a lot better. Yes, her lectures are long, but they will help you understand math concepts. She is very helpful and has tutor sessions before class. If you are like me and have trouble understanding math I suggest you take her. I will take her again for math 126!
I love this professor and wish she taught Math127 and above as well. I suck at math, but she's very clear at explaining things and always answers your questions in class as well as after class. She also gives extra credit, and I love the way she grades her tests (partial credit if you make a small mistake). Also a very nice and positive individual!
Megan is an outstanding teacher who has done her best to help a hopeless math student like myself. She admits shortcoming of covered material, and is willing to discuss the applications of the material if there are any, yet is also honest enough to admit when some portions are there just to prepare for the next class.
Megan is friendly and sweet, she has good teaching methods. I'm terrible at math but she knows just how to explain it. I would totally recommend her for math 95. There is homework but not too much, just study, and pass your tests.
Megan is a good teacher but personally I didnt like how she didnt give out study guide for the final. For the final she was big on word problems
Megan taught me to love math again, shes so caring and the way she just breaks down her notes are great. She makes math fun to understand she made me enjoy math again, I Hope to take her for my future math classes she teaches. I CANT WAIT TO TAKE HER FOR MATH 96 THIS SEMESTER OHHH YEAH
Megan does an amazing job explaining the process of each problem/formula. I recommend people that have struggled with math in the past to take her class. Weekly HW, 4 quizzes, and a final. She also gives extra credit for attendance. I'm hoping to have her as an instructor for all my math courses!
super nice, as long as you show up to class to get the notes it's a pretty easy A. It takes very minimal effort. She makes a lot of jokes and she's actually really funny. There's only a couple of tests and they have maybe 10 questions on them, she offers extra credit on the tests too.
Very nice and understanding. Goes a little fast but is always open to answer any questions. Overall, Excellent!
One of the best teachers I've had, energetic and vibrant. Makes you feel confident in your math skills and works hard to explain the material clearly.
She just got tenure. Great class. Lecture easy to follow bc she does plenty examples and does them on overhead projector so easy to hear her. I'm afraid of math but still managed an A. Great professor!
I took 120 n she won't be teaching it again but i can tell you that this woman is awesome. she's quirky n funny, keeps class upbeat. i hate math, but it was bearable just bc of her. she's STRICT about attendance/tardies tho, it counts as extra credit. no test retakes, says she doesn't believe in that. u wont regret this class.
She is really sweet and makes the long class feel not as long. She makes the material easy to understand, and definitely makes the classroom a comfortable environment to ask questions if you don't understand. She keeps the lectures really simple and fun.
I have never met anyone so passionate and excited about math. I loved her attitude, made learning math a blast! I did not like math, but after taking her class I have learned to enjoy it. Took Megan for Math 96, there were 4 exams and a final. There is homework and attendance is mandatory.
This is the best math teacher I have ever had. I took her for 3 semesters. From 95 to 124 She gives amazing notes. Very detailed explanation. She makes math so easy. Does give homework, but it's worth it. She is the best. She is very clear on her expectations. Office hours always willing to help. Wished she teached math132. You will not regret it.

Swallia taught us a bunch of hard college algebra concepts and make it simple to understand. She's witty, kind-hearted and loves to help out.
Shes is so cute and funny. She always attempts to make the class funny. Her classes are lectures only but it is very easy to understand since she goes slow and she has nice writing. Make sure do your homework since the practice exam is almost identical to the exam. Make sure to do it. EASY A! i scored well in all of them.
Professor Swallia explains the material very well. If you have a question in class, she'll answer it very thoroughly. If you struggle with math, this is the right professor to take.
ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY! If you miss more than 4x, your grade lowers by 10% each time! She loves math and understanding it was easy, but she does talk a lot so don't expect to get out earlier. She's cool but she follows the rules down to the T. It can get annoying, and the HW online is easy and short at first, but then it gets longer and unnecessary
WONDERFUL professor! She made me feel so confident about my math skills and I'm so happy I chose her as my prof. Megan is extremely sweet and approachable and by the middle of the semester we were like best buds. Show up, take notes, do the homework, and act like a human being and you will succeed in this class! I'd love to have her teach me again!
Swallia is the worst professor I ever took. I took her my first semester at college. Her tests arent like the stuff she has you study. There are 11 or less questions on each exam. That seems nice but miss 1-2 on a 7 question exam and your done for. Her final was the worst. And she was really rude with people with questions. Had to retake course.
This professor loves talking math. She gets really detailed in explanations and is always open to answering questions in class and in her office she is super helpful if you can catch her when she doesn't already have a ton of students. This class does have strict rules about homework and attendance, though. Go to class do the homework you'll be ok.
I took this professor last year, and she was a very good lecturer and made sure that her notes were concise and easy to understand. If you stay ahead of homework (online), the upcoming tests should come natural to you. This is not the class to lack on studying though. Great teacher, easy to talk to and she is quite funny.
one of the best math teachers ive ever had. i was sad i didn't get to take her for 126 : ( i took her 8 week class and it was rough the first couple weeks because i didnt do well on the tests. but i catched up on aleks and brought my grade up to a high b!! just study and do practice problems. drops the lowest and makes the class fun and lively!!
Really nice lady except with my 95E class she doesnt teach everything is online. Which honestly sucks
Very kind Professor that was extremely helpful to stuck students.
This professor is very kind, but also very strict with rules. Doesn't teach everything on exams and when you get it wrong, it is your fault. Exams are graded by few things and no partial credit is given.
This professor is very sweet and willing to help. Math 95E is done on Aleks but if you're stuck she's always willing to explain and help. If you do your work and manage, you can end up finishing the class early. I recommend this professor.
She is super nice every day! My favorite professor so far! Highly recommend! There are rules but its set by the school she has no control over it. Tests every so often. Always there when you need help with something. Most work is on ALEKS which is okay. Took this class as a hybrid.
Professor Swallia is super rude. Her classroom felt super hostile. Being in her class made me feel like I was in a military school. There were so many rules and if one person broke the rule everyone got in trouble for it. Her exams never matched up to what she was teaching....
She was a great professor. Since everything was online I was able to do everything on my own time which is helpful since I work a full-time job. She replied to emails in a timely manner. Clear grading. The class was not mandatory to show up to as everything was done on ALEKS. You do need to buy the textbook since it comes with an access code.
She was a fun professor, I just felt her teaching style was difficult to understand. Relied on self-teaching and tutors except on easier subjects. Don't pay for the book, you won't use it. Written work for exams was about 50% of the points. She grades fairly - but beware, she uses ALEKS. Didn't proctor but seems like a tough prof. in person.
She is very caring and her lectures are clear and very easy to understand.
Very approachable and available. Gives a clear understanding of what to expect in the class. I recommend this professor for anyone new to college.
Great Professor! The recorded lectures are very helpful and easy to follow. The grading is clear and she is easy to reach via email. Grades are 15% hw on Aleks, 20% for each test(3), and 25% for the final. Also there are tutors specifically assigned to the class if you need additional help. Would absolutely take again!
Class was not mandatory because of COVID times. I never watched a lecture because ALEKS website taught me the lesson. If i still didnt understand I looked up a youtube video. She is helpful if you have questions. There is A LOT of homework on ALEKS. Sometimes 60 lessons in two weeks. It is ridiculous. My mental energy is drained after this class.
Shes a good professor but if youre not strong in math i would recommend someone else. Shes not very good at explaining things and can come across rude when answering questions.
Math classes online aren't the greatest. The professor always responded to my emails pretty quickly, though and tried to help me and was friendly. I'd probably take it in person if you can't really teach yourself.
I signed up for an in-person class which was changed to all online. If you do poorly on showing your work, you will get a bad grade. Homework barely counts and there are only four tests. Watch the lectures or fail. Got a B on a test and did different formulas on my work and she dropped my grade to an F.
Don't recommend this course if you are not good with math as the quizzes are weighed 65% and you must submit shown work. You are given two weeks for 45 topic homework which is just 15% and uses Aleks which is 100$
I took this class fall after quarantine ended and was supposed to be in-person where she would lecture but after 2 weeks she moved everything online and said the class time would just be a question and answer period. For the tests, there would be separate grades for the work and the test so if you got a bad grade you got it twice.
Professor Swallia is really nice and lenient. She is easily reachable through email outside of class time. I recommend taking this course if you are taking Math 120.
This instructor was one of the worst professors I had during my time at CSN. She constantly assigned back-to-back topics on ALEKS which were very difficult to do while taking other classes. She also uses proctoru for test proctoring, which is one of the worst sites I have ever used. Please avoid taking this professor !!!
Took her math 127 class, this course is so heavy. No extra credit, aleks is the source of homework and tests, no late work and barely answers emails. She doesn't actually teach she just uses video recordings from the past years.Tests are proctored on proctor u which is the worst program to ever exist. Do not let her high rating fool you.
Took her for MATH 127 this semester. No extra credit. Your test will MAKE your grade. Tests are heavily proctored. CONSTANT ALEKS. I had no time left for other classes. This is coming from a straight-A student. Don't be fooled by her good rating. She just uses video recordings from the last years for lectures. Please take someone else.
I signed up for an in-person class but most of the work was online, the only thing that isn't online are the tests. Lectures were old videos. The homework is all on ALEKS but they don't really help your grade. Tests make up a majority of the class' grade. She made our exam 3 and final two days apart without much review. Take another professor.
my most stressful class ever.your grade is completely dependent on how you do on the tests.the lectures dont help, they didnt help me on the homework assignments and ended up wasting time. ur better off teaching urself straight from aleks. only pro is that she gives u a list of topics that are on the test, so study those thru alek's review feature.
Tests made up most of my grade. You have 3 late passes for homework. Things were done on aleks and there were the random knowledge tests and if you didn't remember every single thing you had ALOT of extra homework. Precalculus is a hard class so you do have to put effort in, she gives partial credit which helped alot.
The homework is on ALEKS which is such a waste of time 9 times out of 10 was useless since your grade depends on the tests. The lectures were never helpful and the notes provided for tests were helpful for one question only. The testing was so weird being watched and microphoned through the entirety of the test. Do not take save your time and money
Professor Swallia was the most sweetest and genuine professor I've ever had! I'm not a math person but she made the class feel very easy and understandable. There were many easy opportunities for extra credit. I took math 120/120E, I'd definitely take her class again if I ever get an opportunity.
Very generous, but strict with required dead lines. READ THE SYLLABUS. And down load it or keep a copy of it
Professor Swallia is by far the second-best math professor that I have taken. She just makes math fun and easy to understand in her lectures. She is pretty funny and always stays positive. She is there for you whenever you need help with a problem and explains it to you step-by-step. You have a week to complete the hw so you don't need to rush.
Math made easy. Homework and quizzes every week (which will always take you less than an hour), always due Sunday night. Textbook is free, with plenty of examples and practice questions if you need them. There is a "final", but it's worth the same amount of points as all the other quizzes. Super easy class, would recommend.
Professor Megan Swallia is really a great teacher, there have always been so many opportunities given to the student to receive help and tutoring for the class. As long you participate and do your homework you should be able to pass class easily.
Her class is easy. Professor Megan is nice, she gave us a few homework assignments, and a quiz each week for every chapter. Also, the requirement for this class, complete a 10 hour tutoring at Academic Success or smartthinking. There is also 3 projects, 3 exams, and plus one final exam for the end of the semester. I recommend to take her!!
Prof. Swallia was kind, fair, and very patient. She was lenient on deadlines and understood that students had other courses and lives outside of her class. Her ability to connect with her students and her sense of humor helped create a comfortable and open learning environment. I could not recommend Prof. Swallia enough.
Prof Megan Swallia is fantastic! She's really good at explaining all of the math concepts we studied. Her class is set up well, and I would recommend her to anyone.
She is absolutely my favorite professor! She is wonderful at explaining math, and she shows off her adorable cats! She is very kind and understanding; I was sick and she was very kind and willing to give me extensions as I needed. Overall 10/10 I would take her class again in a heartbeat!
Easiest math class you will take
Meg was great. I would take her again. Very easy and simple online class
(Math 120E) I LOVE her, she's so genuine and caring and takes her time with math! I'm bad at math but this class wasn't so hard, everything is free and the homework does give you extra help if you're stuck on a question. There are somewhat a lot of assignments but just work through it bit by bit and you'll do great! You may even see her cats too!
Professor Megan S. is awesome! Her class is straightforward and she's great at explaining concepts. The assignments and tests are manageable. I found Unstuck study really helpful for reinforcing the material. Overall, I'd definitely recommend taking her class.
Hands down one of the worst classes I took this semester. While she did give online lectures, they were lacking. I honestly felt that the professor more relied on the textbook homework and a random math YouTuber to teach us (who honestly taught more in depth than the professor). But honestly I can't recommend. That's how you do it, boom done.
If you do not do well on the tests, you will fail. She teaches us the easy parts of each subject, but then assigns us homework that she did not cover. Often had to teach myself and rely on a YouTube guy to help me understand(he solved the problems differently than what she taught, making it more confusing). Save your money and your white-out!!
She genuinely cares about her students, but i would NOT take again. I am usually an A student, but completely failed this class. Your entire grade depends on how you do on the tests, which the homework/lectures do NOT prepare you for. The tests are very short, meaning if you get one question wrong, it drops you an entire letter grade.
Dr. Swallia is amazing. From the beginning she has been responsive, organized, kind and understanding! She sent me my syllabus a week early because I wanted to be prepared. All of her material is easy to understand because of all the resources she provides. 99% online, minus the in-person final (just watch your timing). Participate + study = PASS!
