Tests are all lecture based. Attend ALL class meetings. 1st test is the hardest.

This class is pretty much all lecture based. Book is not really needed, I didn't even touch the thing. Take notes at lectures and review them for tests. Easy grade.

I hate science classes but she was the best - you have to study to do well and attend all the lectures, but you don't have to buy a book and she kept me entertained all through a three hour class. This teacher rocks.

Wonderful, sPiRiTeD teacher. She made everything SO clear and her study guides helped SO MUCH. She has straightforward tests and is on schedule. I had such a great time in her class despite the fact that it's a 8:00am.

She is awesome!!!! You have to study for her tests, but she always puts really easy extra credit on them. There's alot of assigements, but that just makes the tests less weighted, so it's cool.

I've had Tommerup for 102 and 305,both times in which i learned so much and laughed HARD.Her teaching style lets you have fun, but keeps you remembering what you learned.Lot of assignments,but well worth doing them for easy points and as a study guide.

She is the best teacher on campus. You will learn and laugh through the whole semester. If you need help she will help. I thought she was pretty easy got an A.

She is one of the best teachers you could ever have. I had so much fun in her class. You need the book for some of the test question, but in general, you don't need the book. You don't have to go to class, but you want to because she's so great.

One of the best classes I have taken in my life. Dr.Tommerup makes this class extremely enjoyable and fun, yet your learn as well. The work load was very manageable and her sense of humor helped people that were nervous about the material that was taught.

Great professor and very funny!! I hated Biology before i took her class. She explained everything clearly and I understood everything. However, you do need to study for her exams specially the written portion. Make sure you read the question carefully. She will emphasize that a lot. She rules!

She is the best teacher I have ever taken at CSUF, and I am not even a science major! Her class was super easy (pay attention to the lectures) and ridiculously fun! I would recommend that everybody take her at least once, if not more!

shes one of the funniest teachers you can take but her tests are very detailed, there is a thick study guide which helps you alot i got F's on her test and with one that i used the study guide i got a C. she is intimidating to ask questions though.

This professor is so funny. If you decide to take this clas you wull enjoy it, but she grades very hard. All the questiones in exams are sneaky, be careful. Her projects are also difficult. The professer makes the class fun.

Almost all the classes were actually fun--she made jokes and had us learning without knowing it. I didn't crack open the text book but the supplement is needed for essays. Take her class!

I put off Freshman Biol until I was a SR I hated it so much. After taking her I love Biol. and am adding a minor in it and am her SA. She will make you love it! I had failed Biol 101 twice, so believe me she is great!

A really good professor, fun class. and really cool too. however her class is somewhat hard. that's basicly the only downside.

Great teacher. I absolutely hate bio and dreaded this class. She made it fun and interesting. A lot of labs and busy work to do. There is a lot of work in the class and the tests are hard so you have to keep up with your work. But, she does a great job at trying to help you learn the material.

A fantastic teacher with a great personality. She is so hilarious with all of her jokes- it made the clasees go by faster. She is extremely helpful for the tests and everything else! I was not interested in bio before but I really understood the stuff from class. Absolutely take this class with her- very interesting, funny and kick back!

Extremely fun teacher. Makes the time fly by very fast. To get a good grade...must attend class and pay attention. Tests: VERY easy...even come with XC (sometimes). LOTS of opportunities to raise grade. Overall, A++++ Cannot go wrong with having her.

A superb teacher...Makes you feel good about being dumb because she constantly tells you she was a poor student, but you know deep down someone that smart was NOT a bad student. Highly recommend her. You will learn a lot about the things around you. FAIR grader and lots of Xtra credit.

Loved the class,it was extremelyinteresting. Loved how she teaches and she gives alot of assignments but it helps out your grade becasue they are easy points. STUDY for the exams, they are tricky!

I failed all the tests and thought i would fail the class but she passsed me!its because you have to do all the homework and be there all the time so she knows who you are which I did. she a good teacher but hertests are confusing and hard.LOTS OF WORKSHEETS

I hate science, but this was by far the best science teacher I've ever had. You do have to study, but her lectures are fun anf she tries really hard to get you to understand the material, not just memorize it. I strongly recommend taking her Bio 102 class if you can. If you're just taking Bio for a GE, she will make your semester super fun!

I took her in Spring of 2009 and she was AMAZING. She made the material extremely entertaining and made sure the students understood the material, not just memorized it. I had so much fun in her class and am looking forward to taking her for 453 next semester. IF YOU CAN TAKE HER, even if you are just taking it as a GE.

One of the best professors I have ever had! I absolutely dreaded taking this course but Prof. T makes it worth taking. I have learned so much in this class; it has actually made me reconsider my take on science! This was a very high paced class so attendance is mandatory and tests are somewhat challenging. Just stay on top of the material!

Keeps class interesting! A lot of work but great professor and fun class!

Looked forward to coming to class every lecture. Grade is based on 3 tests, 1 or 2 papers, a couple quizes, and homework. Do the homework. It's easy. Study the homework. Because of this class, I changed my major to Biology and am now pursing a masters degree in Biotechnology. Strongly recommend taking this class.

Took her F'11 absolutely love her. I always recommend colleagues to take her for 453. Down to earth, funny, and super helpful. The class is overall extremely fun and I would totally take it again but I got an A :) You will not regret taking her, I promise!!

This class definitely requires you to put in your time and effort. However, Dr. Tommerup is a really great professor who teaches the material really well. I learned a lot and would definitely take her again if I could!

This class was so hands-on and very entertaining. Although it was two hours long, the time went by fast. The classroom environment was overall a fun, yet educational, environment. I would definitely recommend this course for any future K-8 teachers! Also, although she never takes role, attendance is essential for in-class points and lectures.

This class is great if you need help deciding on a career choice or if you want to learn more about one you're pursuing. Dr. Tommerup made this class enjoyable with her quirky jokes and always positive attitude. Helped me consider pursuing a career I wasn't even thinking about until after taking this class. If you can take it, DO IT!

There is a lot of writing in this class but overall it's pretty easy assuming your internship doesn't drive you nuts. The professor is very nice but she can be a pretty tough grader. I would take this class alongside other classes at your 300 or 400 levels because it's really not that work intensive.

You HAVE to go to class, pay attention, take notes, STUDY for tests, and do well on assignments, but it's that way for every bio class. Final is optional and replaces your lowest test grade. I've had so many friends fail Bio with other teachers, she's THE BEST. Just trust me and take her. Promise you won't regret it. One of my favorite teachers!

This class is so much fun! She is super nice and she's hilarious which makes it a lot easier to focus. She does everything she can to help you and make sure everyone understands the material. She explains things super clearly and simply so if you pay attention you'll understand it all pretty easily. Make sure to study well for tests!

Students who is attentive during class, takes notes, and studies WILL PASS with at least a B. The info consisting of the lectures she gives is the only information she puts on the exams. Not much homework, which makes you responsible for studying and understanding topics. Not only did she make Biology easy to understand but her class was hilarious.

Her lectures are funny and entertained, she is really hilarious and makes the class very interesting. not really homework. two papers. However if you really want to pass the test you must study. Attendance is highly recommmended but no mandaotry.

Dr. Tommerup is hilarious and her lectures are super straight-forward. She assigns very little homework, and she always ensures everyone understands the material. I literally opened the textbook once the entire semester for a homework assignment, you don't need it.

She is hilarious. If you think she might be trying to trick you on a test it is because she is. You have to study for her tests and must attend class but does not take attendance. She doesn't give homework. You definitely can get an A if you really study. Great professor I would take again.

She is one of the best professors in the Biology Department. She teaches very well and is lecture heavy. There were times she told stories and she made the class very entertaining. There were times she made me laugh. She's pretty awesome.

Shes funny, makes it all very interesting. There are study guides and extra things provided to help study for the tests. DO THE STUDY GUIDES and you will pass. I really enjoyed the class. There are 3 exams and two writing quizzes and One Optional Final! A few homework worksheets but easy to do.

Professor Tommerup is such a funny outgoing professor that made Bio easy to understand. Although you must work for your grade she is such a gem. Really enjoyed going to her class even though I am not a science major. So happy I took the class with her. Just be ready to work and an A is attainable.

Not a bad class. Biology isn't easy if you don't enjoy science but she makes it a lot easier to understand. Go to class and take notes. You should be able to at least get a B just by doing that. Fun lectures, at times.

Engages with students and makes a great effort to make them laugh but at times it felt like we were the ones teaching ourselves the material. 3 exams with an optional final and 2 extra credit assignments available. If you dont normally study, this class may be a challenge.

She's really fun. The material can be overwhelming if science is like a foreign language to you (like myself). 3 exams, homework, but not weekly, no textbook, semester projects, offers extra credit. Attendance doesn't count but I'd encourage to go to class to fully understand the material. PowerPoints don't provide all the notes.

Dr. Tommerup is one of the best Biology teachers Ive had. Her lectures are so funny and it is important to come to class because some of the key terms she goes over are on the exam. She doesnt post her lectures online either. Her tests are pretty easy but READ CAREFULLY! Extra credit opportunities at the end of the semester.

She's really good at making jokes about the subject which somehow can help you learn the material better. She does a great job at keeping the class involved. Go to class, pay attention, do the kinda tricky tests (she likes to make sure you're paying attention) and Easy A/B+.

Took her Bio543 class during Spring 2020. She can seem scary, but she is nice and funny! She really wants you to just pass and move on with your life. Go to class because her lectures (what she talks about and writes on the board) are the things that she will put on the exams. Thank you professor Tommerup! Your class ended up being my favorite!

Took this class to fulfill my upper division GE requirement and honestly she's the best biology professor on campus hands down. She has a bubbly, sarcastic personality and loves to engage with the class. There's never a boring day of lecture! Quizzes at the end of each lecture, but it's easy and quick as long as you pay attention in class.

Tricky exams, but worth attending lectures to pass. Unstuck study was a lifesaver for exam prep - definitely recommend using it alongside the textbook.

This class is very easy. The professor provides all lecture slides and study guides, making quizzes doable. Not much homework. There are projects you can choose from that you will need to total up to 50 points and are due at the end of the semester, giving plenty of time. The only downside is the professor's personality. Can be rude and weird.
