Burke is one of the best teachers I've had. She is very helpful and teaches well. You can actually learn when she teaches. Take her class.
One of the best teachers I've had. She's so helpful, I decided to become a mathematics major.
Nice person. But I had Dr.Hoover for 1190. Comparing to Dr.Hoover's class, hers is kind of boring.
Excellent Teacher! Especially great if you're not to interested/completely hate Calculus/Math in general. Explains concepts very well; uses memory techniques. Homework is repetitive. Test are easy, about 10 questions, sometimes using problems straight from homework. Is very approachable and helpful.
Awesome professor, easy to follow, quizzes are from the hw, tests about 10 questions...she is very helpful. Only down is that u have to attend class on a regular basis if u plan to get a good grade, other then that HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
She is awesome!!! Don't take anyone else. She is the first teacher since second grade to make me understand math. Yes, you have to go to class, but what did you expect? Go to class and you will actually learn something. She is so helpful and easy to approach. Love her!!!!!
Very easy, very clear, her quizzes are from the hw. I highly recommend this professor
Fun teacher. Works hard at making pre-cal understandable.
very very very helpful n greatest teacher in the whole college. tests are easy and u will defintly like her
Best professor ever.
Take her class...awesome...
I took Hoover for Calc, and would have preferred her. Dr. Burke is a math God.
OMG she is REALLY nice, very willing to help evn your hesitant..LOVE HER!!
This is the best math teacher I have ever had. She makes almost everything crystal clear.

Good math teacher - teachers calculous easily. Quizes are 1 question and are exactly like the HW. Tests are a bit more difficult but not much effort needed to get an A
She is kind of crazy, but its in a good way. Her test are simple. I fyou do your work you are fine. I'll be taking her for every math I can.
good teacher and may i say a funny one at that. she has a way about teaching math that makes it sound sensible. her tests are the same as the homework and the ones that she uses as examples. take her take her take her IF YOU CAN!
Dr. Burke is wonderful! she really cares if her students understand the material, she sees it as a reflection of how well she does her job, and dont we wish all our professors were this way! :)
She was very clear and you could walk out of every class knowing what you were doing. Tests were time-consuming but exactly what she told us to study. Very fun teacher
AWSOME TEACHER!!!! IF YOU TAKE MATH TAKE HER!!!!!! SIMPLY AMAZING TEACHER!!! MAKES MATH FUN!!! (ask her about the derivative of e^x you will get a kick out of it) (no not literally)
had he for 1190 and 2201. she is amazing! makes sure you understand the subject. one of the teachers who actually care about her students. she has was of making the subject just click with people so it makes perfect sense. she is funny too. if u take her for 1190 wait for the explination for the derivative of e^x and if 2201 wait for differentials
yes ask her about e^x. it really is not that intersting but her exlamation will give you a kick. Will bendover backward to help (just not in her office hours never there). Homework is not checked but 1 quiz every week from homework. pay attention in class (takes roll) and write down her examples (similar to test) above and beyond all other teachers
great and great! uses a lot of examples along with proofs. makes it fun and explains to the point that it becomes easy. to get an A you should do hm. weekly quiz and mandatory attendance. test are like hm. but she puts 2 hard question. easy grader. partial partial etc.
Prof Burke is just goofy. Her class is pretty straight forward but I was just bad at calculus. She reviewed homework in 1st half of class, taught a new section in 2nd half. 15 quizzes over homework. Her tests are 10 problems, very cumulative. Do your homework and come to class and you will do fine. Unless you suck at calculus.
Dr. Burke is a true genius. I love her class, she's funny, she makes sure we all understand what's going on. If you work hard, her class will be a breeze. She makes sure to know your name, and she truly cares about her students. She's the best math teacher in KSU.
She has a great personality and is the most passionate professor I have ever had. I didn't take Calc in High School and I wouldn't recommend jumping right into it. You will use your textbook almost every class for hw. You will have 2 exams and 1 final, and quizzes once a week with 1 question on them. This class is difficult and you must do do hw.
She is an awesome teacher! Take her regardless of your calc experience level. She is very helpful to everyone and very fair. She always goes over homework and the 15 quizzes are easy. She makes it fun!! Great teacher
I love this class. Dr. B is very smart and good at teaching. The only secret to survive this class is to do the homework. Yes she assigns some difficult problems. But if you do the homeworks, you should ace the quizzes. 3 tests, similar problems as the homeworks.
Awesome Teacher. Really enjoys Mathematics keeps you awake in the front of the class. Relatively easy. And like in any math class you've got to do the homework to really understand the subject. Got a B, should have got an A. I slacked off in the end.
I honestly had trouble in this class, but it's a hard subject.. Burke is a great professor. She will help you. 2 tests and a hard final. hw is optional, but there are hw quizzes.
Great teacher. She loves what she does and you can tell by how passionate she is in teaching. She is always available to help and wants to make sure her students understand the material. Do the homework, the quizzes are based right off the homework she gives.
Dr. Burke is amazing. Her class is engaging & she keeps your attn by being crazy! She knows her stuff & wants to make sure you learn it. Tests can be difficult, esp if you don't study. Drops lowest test score.
Had her for Calculus I and II. She's a phenomenal professor. Always willing to answer questions and will go to great lengths to help students. Take her class.
Went from a D in my first calc class to an A in Burke's. she is so clear and helpful. She asks questions about what would make the class better, too. 1 quiz every week, 2 tests and a final. Plenty of opportunities to make good grades
Dr. Burke is the bomb. What makes her class easy is her style of teaching. If she sees you don't get it she does a short review before proceeding on. She is very approachable and makes calculus fun. If you like to laugh a lot take this class, you'll be glad you did.
BEST MATH TEACHER AT KSU hands down! Her upbeat teaching style/personality makes learning fun.
Dr. Burke is amazing! She's sweet, funny and helpful. Even though the class moves kind of fast, she will go out of her way to help you understand calculus.
Never have I ever had such an enthusiastic teacher before. Excited about math on day one to the end of the semester, she never ceased to amaze me. Helpful, kind, and very good at explaining key concepts she never gave up on her students. Overall best teacher I have ever had.
She's the best. She will literally ruin any potential happiness you might get from other math professors because you will always be comparing them to her.
Dr. Burke is a great professor. She spends a lot of time on explaining the homework, so make sure you at least try to do it. She's very enthusiastic about the subject and loves teaching it. She is very helpful if you ask for it, otherwise she'll let you try to keep up. I would recommend taking her for math if you can.
I wasn't a math major before I took her class
Pros: Quizzes come straight from the homework. She is extremely fair when it comes to grading. She knows how to dumb things down to its simplest component. Very sweet. Very willing. Makes lecture entertaining. Cons: Expect her to arrive late. She does take attendance, so expect lecture to start late as well.
Real simple guys. Do your homework and take notes the next day when she goes over it. her tests are very similar to homework problems. if you go to her office to ask for help, she will ask you if you did your homework. she says its easy to tell that the ones who do no work sit in class for the attendance grade. Always amazed at the slackers.
Dr. Burke is more than just a nice person. She is a thorough educator who actually cares about her students. While the character is relevant, her concern for her students ability to learn, process and retain the information is genuine. She is an expert in her field and will give you all the time you need in order to understand and grasp the concept
Dr. Burke is absolutely fantastic. She's super funny and helpful and the way sbhe explains calculus is really interesting. Her tests are fair and she grades them very leniently. As long as you show up and pay attention , you will do fine.
Dr. Burke is the best professor I have ever had. She is so enthusiastic about calculus that it made me enthusiastic about calculus! She is there for you if you have any concerns and will sincerely try her best to help you. She has 3 or 4 tests and weekly quizzes but they come straight from the homework which she goes over in class. Take her.
She is a great teacher but can be difficult to understand. She always goes over the homework and the quizzes, she gives every week, are always like the homework. Easy A if you show up, takes notes, and do the homework. She can be a little everywhere at times, but always tries to make sure you get what is going on.
Nice teacher, but her tests are impossible. No curves, no extra credit.
I love Professor Burke. Calculus comes easy for me, and I took it in high school, and if that's the case for you, you'll be fine. She sets out very clearly what is going to be on the test - if you don't pass, that is your own fault. Yes you have to do homework and study, this is college!! Wish I could take Calc ll from her. Attendance not mandatory
She goes over homework problems, but her tests are impossible and much harder than homework. Take someone else.
Dr. Burke is probably the best math teacher I have ever had in my math career. I don't really put much effort into the class and I am still managing a B. She grades the tests very leniently (lots of partial credit). She is extremely nice and very clear about what will be on the tests. Final replaces lowest test. Put in some effort and get A or B.
Rarely partial credit and the class is just plain hard. Her tests are tricky and are not like her homework.
I nevver thought I would survive this class. Passed but im not sure how. Her tests are difficult and not what she goes over in class.
My only complaint is her testing method. She would promise us she would make the tests (including the final) to where we could finish before our two hours were up but never held up her end of the deal. Too many people had to be cut off because of the length of her tests, even the final. Probably why people didn't do as well. Otherwise, she's great
Dr. Burke is super enthusiastic about teaching! Like really, really enthusiastic. She's pretty funny. She gives one quiz a week. Each has one question, but no worries, it is exactly from the homework. Homework isn't required, but definitely do it and you'll be fine. She goes over it every day in class. Tests are pretty but its Calc.
Amazing prof. Funny, enthusiastic, keeps your attention, makes calculus easy to understand. 2 tests and a final. 11 quizzes - drops 1. Showing up to class is essential to understand the material. Tests are relatively easy. The final is only hard because it's cumulative and there's so much to remember.
This was my first time taking Calc and she made it very easy to understand. The tests range from 9-15 questions and I always had enough time to finish. Calc is not an easy subject but she made it easier for me, but you do need to do your part and do the homework + study to be able to pass the class with a good grade. Best math professor :)
I personally enjoyed her class, but I didn't have time to finish her final or the previous test even though I studied. I came out of the class with a B, but I am a slower worker and was frustrated that I didn't have time to finish. Too many people were like me. I wish she had given us the opportunity to stay an extra 30 minutes.
Loved this teacher. Took her for calc 1 and will take her again for calc 2. She is very outgoing and obviously loves her job. This does not mean that you will get an A. This class is very hard, but if you keep up with your homework regularly, then you should not have a problem.
ABSOLUTELY loved her!!!! Be active during lectures and make sure to do every homework assignment or at least attempt it (there is a possibility there may be an exact quiz question on one problem from the homework). Daily quizzes are one question and is out of 15 points. Become familiar with her and attend her office hours. VERY HELPFUL!
Mrs. Burke is AMAZING. If you are unfortunate enough to take Calc 1 you should take her. She is so helpful and gives so much partial credit. She makes sure everyone understands and will help you with whatever you have troubles on. TAKE MRS. BURKE!!!
Dr. Burke is one of those teachers who loves her job and you can definitely tell. Her enthusiasm for Calculus cannot be measured on any scale. Seriously though, she's one of the best teachers, not just math, that I've ever had. Currently have Calc 2 with her and plan on taking DE with her as well. If you have the option, take her. Won't regret it.
Professor Burke is very passionate about math and loves teaching. Her lectures are always very interesting. Assigns a lot of homework but always goes over it in class. She is always more than happy to answer any questions you might have. Gives a lot of partial credit. Professor Burke really cares about her students. RECOMMEND TO TAKE HER!
Great teacher really cares about her students and more than fair, recommended her to anyone that I knew was going to take Calc 1,2 or ODE
the best teacher to get the CALC I from. she cares for her students. first 20 minutes of the class she spends by saying the names of the students. only two words for you : "Get HER!" don't think much about her just choose HER. She does 10 quizes and drops the lowest one.
Amazing calculus teacher. Gives very clear examples, and the test is similar to the examples. Does everything she can to help you pass. I would highly recommend!
I took her for Diff Eq and it was amazing. She is very caring for her student's success in the classroom. She opens class up with questions about the homework assigned in the previous class. At the end of every other class there will be a quiz from the past homework assignment out of 15 points. A very fair, lenient grader. 3 exams including final
Although she gives homework nightly, she gives weekly quizzes derived from the homework to check our understanding of what we are doing. Her lectures are great and she gives so many examples. She also takes the time needed to answer and explain all questions.
She is an amazing instructor who really cares about her students.
Great and very energetic teacher that cares for her students grades. Makes the lecture entertaining and enjoyable, plus she's funny. Quizzes once a week over the previous homework (it will be one of the exact same questions.) Very lenient grader and gives a TON of partial credit. Textbook heavy.
One of the best teachers at KSU period. As soon as you step into her classroom you can tell she's passionate about what she teaches. Math is a relatively difficult topic, but she makes it easier, so long as you put some effort in :) She's funny and looks like a 50 year-old but has the energy and spirit of a 21 year-old. Take her if you can.
Prof. Burke was a good teacher. Her tests were at most 15 questions straight from your homework and lectures. I have always been good at math but this was the most impossible class I have taken. If your good at math or have taken calc before then i highly recommend taking, but if its your first time then take someone else. 10 quizzes.
I've taken Calc I twice before and would get lost 5 minutes into the lectures and just sit there for the rest of the period. Professor Burke, on the other hand, gave captivating and clear lectures. Never once did I open the textbook because she worked through lots of examples and explained all of the concepts very well. A must take.
BEST PROF EVER! Dr. Burke is great! She explains every lesson in depth. She gives lots of examples, and works through the problems in different ways to better help you understand. Definitely recommend her! The only time you need the textbook is for the HW, which she goes over before every class! Quizzes are based on the HW. Highly recommend her
Take her! Her lectures are so thorough and she is very passionate about this subject. Attendance is necessary for an A. Quiz every week-- it is an exact homework problem. Do the homework. 2 test and a final-- they are not hard if you review homework. She is willing to help. Drops the lowest 2 quizzes and you can replace a test grade with the final
AHH. I LOVE DR. BURKE!!! She was awesome! She really knows what she is talking about and makes it easy for you to understand all of the information. There are 2 tests and a final and quizzes every week (one exact question from homework). I would totally recommend taking her. Even if you are not a math person, she makes is soooo easy!!!
Grade is made up of quizzes and tests only, but the weekly quiz is one question exactly from the homework so it shouldnt be hard to ace every quiz if you do the homework. The tests arent hard and Dr. Burke makes sure not to make things tricky. It sounds easy, but you definitely learn the material! Take her!
She will go over all the homework in class, which is helpful, but it makes the class go really slow. The homework is harder than the class examples, and the test is harder than the homework, so you need to know what you're doing. Random in class quizzes mean you need to come to class. I liked her as a person, didn't really care for the class.
Dr. Burke loves math, she love math so much that she makes you love math too. Yes there is homework every night but never for a grade. She will spend a lot of time going over the homework. There are quizzes but it identical to one of the homework questions. The test are not that bad and she not a tough grader, just make sure you show your work.
There was homework every night but it was not for a grade. She went over the homework the next day and she did not care how much time she spent on it, she just wanted everyone to understand it. The test was 10-12 question and no multiple choice. She requires you to show work because she will give you points for just setting it up. Great teacher
dr. burke is an excellent choice if you're bad at math. i failed calculus once before but she made the material make sense. quiz every other class with questions taken directly from the homework. tests are harder than the hw so if you struggle i would recommend working problems with her during office hours. definitely recommend.
Skip class you won't pass. Tests are nothing like her homework. Most people fail and there is not enough time to finish. Avoid at all costs.,
I attend all classes and go to help sessions, but her tests are sooo hard that it is difficult to pass. Take Noring or someone else.
AMAZING TEACHER, attendance is mandatory. She assigns a good bit of homework but it isn't graded and it all benefits you because there are 11 quizzes, each consisting of one question, and the quiz is always a question from the homework. Lowest quiz grade gets dropped. There are only two tests, and then the final replaces your lowest test grade.
Dr. Burke is such a great professor. She truly cares about her students and she's very passionate about math. You definitely have to work for your grade but she does give a lot of partial credit on tests and quizzes even if you get the problem wrong. 10/10 would recommend and take again!
Dr. Burke is an AMAZING professor. There are 11 quizes (the lowest one is dropped), and there are 3 tests total including the final. Attendance isn't "mandatory", but you will not do well if you miss too many lectures or if you miss too many quizes. DO THE HOMEWORK because ALL of the quizes are based on the previous class's homework.
Best math professor I've ever had! She truly wants her students to succeed, it's easy to ask questions in class and she never makes you feel dumb if you don't understand something. You will have to study to receive an A but it's not impossible. Sweetest lady and I almost wish I had to take more math credits so I could take her again.
I love her so much. The homework is out of the book and goes over the answers in class, and her quizzes are straight from the homework. She is an amazing teacher and super enthusiastic about Calculus. She really takes time to make sure you understand and explains everything super thoroughly you definitely leave knowing what you're doing. 11/10
take her it will be the best decision you will have ever made. Be quick though because her class fills up really quickly
Shes a great professor, she breaks down calculus so well it blows my mind! And she has a really excited energy about her you will not find a professor whos more interesting to listen to and so excited about math. As long as you take notes and do the homework properly you should do well in this class
Homework isn't required but there is a weekly quiz, but it's easy because it's one of the homework problems that she goes over in class. She gives tons of partial credit and cares about her students. She's a great person.
She is a nice person just not a very good teacher. Lectures are very hard to follow and she is very disorganized. There are no study guides so the tests can be over anything. If you can find someone else for calc unless you have already taken calc before because you will struggle in this class.
Dr. Burke is one of the best math teachers I've ever had. Homework is optional but she reviews the questions every class. Quizzes are one question, typically one from the homework, and she drops the lowest grade. Calc is a tough subject in general, so practice the problems, don't skip class, and ask questions if you don't understand something.
The class is naturally hard, but Prof. Burke does her best to make it easier on you. Quizzes are easy if you do the homework, as are tests.
I had taken calculus twice prior to this class, and Dr. Burke was the only teacher who actually helped me. She's an amazing professor that I would gladly take again. There are many 1 question quizzes, but if you do the homework, they're easy since the questions are from there. The homework is important to do, but it's really not that difficult.
Dr. Burke is a great professor. Her love of math is truly out of this world, but it keeps you interested honestly. Be prepared to study A LOT and have a lot of homework. Basically, pay attention in class, do your homework, and don't cram before tests.
Dr. Burke is an amazing professor who cares about her students success. I highly recommend going to class because there are weekly quizzes based on the homework. Homework is not mandatory but you should do it and ask questions. There are two exams and one cumulative final. If you work hard and go to class this class is an easy A.
Great lecture, easy to follow, very good at breaking down problems. Every question I had got answered. Pay attention in class and review material and youll do good in the class.
Dr. Burke is truly the best math teacher I have had! She really tries to do the absolute best for her students and she's great at explaining. She's funny and very nice. Quizzes once a week but they are only 1 question, BUT she gives tons of partial credit! even if you don't get the right answer you can get an A. Take her class!!
Every class we would start by going over homework along with asking any questions we had. Next she would walk through her lesson for the day then generally end class with a quiz over the previous classes HW. She taught the material clearly and in a way I thought was easy to understand. You wont be tested on anything she hasnt been over. Easy A.
I took Prof. Burke online Fall 2020. She is a kind lady who clearly cares about her students & how we are performing. She is VERY smart, but not very great at teaching/answering online questions which left us confused/struggling. Calcs a hard class & I think her inability to teach online made it worse. If her class is online I would not recommend!
I loved Dr. Burke! When I got Covid she was super understanding and accommodating! The textbook is primarily used for homework problems and the weekly quizzes are easy if you do the homework. I loved her overall!!
She is the best calculus professor at KSU. She will go over concepts again and again until you understand them. She will never try to trick you on an exam she really only cares that you understand the concepts. Calc II is a difficult course but she makes it a little more bearable.
If you have the chance to take her then immediately take her!!!!! She cares about all her students so much and she goes in depth in her lectures so everyone would understand. The only thing I did not like is how she went over HW for the first hour which left me sleepy for the rest, but I still managed to easily get an A.
Dr. Burke truly took the time to ensure that all students understood and grasped each concept. I have never seen a math professor that cares so much for their students' success and, more than anything, their knowledge of the subject. She would answer any question any student had and would even push back material to answer questions in class instead
Would take questions from homework and solve them to help you understand for half of class to make sure you understood. Then would teach a new lecture by showing how everything works together and giving examples. Homework was exactly like the lecture and was not hard if you paid attention. 1 Question quiz weekly that was a question from hw.
Took Dr. Burke for calc 1 and 2, and if she taught calc 3 I would take her without a doubt. She is amazing and really caring for her students. She is great at teaching, she will make material easier to understand. Do weekly hw and quizzes, study for exams, and you will do good in her class.
Mrs. Burke is an exceptional teacher who focuses on the important and bypasses the fluff. She makes sure that everyone knows the material. There is a lot of homework, but it is optional. The homework is way harder than the quizzes and exams. There are one-question quizzes and three exams. Each are straightforward if you know the topics.
Dr. Burke is the best math teacher I have had. For the first part of class, she goes over as many homework problems as students ask. For the second part of class, she teaches a new lesson. Each week there is a quiz over one homework problem, so if you did the homework and asked questions you will do fine.
She is an amazing professor! Dr. Burke always made sure that everyone was following what she was saying. She showed to be a great professional and made a calculus class easy and fun. I have a lot of respect for she because she gave me a hand when I was falling down in the class.
She likes math very much and the way of teaching is also good. The only thing I don't like is that she arranges the seats by the student's last name.
She made calculus as easy as it could possibly be. The class is not easy but if your taking calc you should expect a decent bit of work. Homework is not graded. Class is graded off of 10 quizzes and 3 tests. Final is not bad. Study and you can easily pull an A.
Graded on 2 tests, 10 quizzes, and a final. The tests make or break your grade, and the final wasn't made by her. Final made me go from A to a C and I studied. Her lectures lack structure, and can be boring. Made 2 C's the entire year and still ended with a C. Make sure you study for exams, especially final.
Sadly, Doctor Burke is retiring, but she was by far my favorite professor at Kennesaw. She made Calculus fun. I'm serious... she didn't take homework as a grade, although it is necessary to keep up with the class. Her lectures are amazing and made easy to understand, she spends lots of time answering questions, she will respond to you quickly. GOAT
