Meghan Iverson was an amazing PLSC 101 professor. She is super chill and understanding and truly just wants to see you succeed. No pop quizzes or tests and the workload is extremely manageable. I am excited to be taking another one of her class again this upcoming fall!
Meghan is very sweet and caring, and really just wants to see her students succeed in and outside of the classroom. However, the course was just very unstructured and all over the place. No slides, all off top of her head, and off topic a lot. She is really accommodating but sometimes calls you out (not intentionally) but it makes you uncomfy
She is very accomodating, caring, and flexible. Meghan Iverson will certainly be one of the most unique and influential teachers that students have the pleasure to take at Loyola. Yes she will "cold call" but this is used more to engage students and less about you getting the correct answer, but kudos if you do. Bilateral power structure in class.
Meghan is definitely not for everybody BUT she is very intelligent and well educated in the topics that she teaches and offers students several opportunities to succeed in her class. Extensions are always granted, she believes in a negotiation type environment where the traditional student teacher hierarchy is not present. PLSC 356
I love Meghan! She is committed to her students far above her pay grade. She is passionate about political science and her own theory of power. She is the type of professor who is super smart but also a very effective teacher. She will also give students extensions is most circumstances! Take her if you can!
She is very flexible with the course and with her students. She is constantly asking for feedback as if you are enjoying and understanding the content of the class. If you miss class, there is a shared class google doc to understand them better. If you don't like to participate, you can gain these points by adding notes in the doc. Take her!
Super nice and caring. A great professor for a 300-level class. Very flexible on due dates and gives great feedback on papers. Only graded by two papers all semester, no homework, and participation matters. If you show up to class, you'll do great. Only drawback is she's super disorganized, but it's a tradeoff for an easy professor
Meghan is a very fair prof which wants you to do well. She understands that there are external issues that can affect you outside of class and WANTS to work with you. She can be very disorganized but they can't all be winners. Grades are on participation and 2 papers. The material is not easy and can be confusing but show up and you'll be fine.
Professor Iverson is intelligent, caring, and so personable! The class itself is enjoyable to show up to and her teaching style allows the students to be more creative, analytical, and confident. There are not too many assignments and if you have any concerns about the class or concepts, Professor Iverson is responsive and more than understanding.
Meghan isthe absolute BEST professor i've ever had at Loyola. She not only teaches material in an engaging, unique and hilarious way, but she also helps her students with assignments that will actually help further your career. she truly cares about us as people. She helped me to fix my resume and find jobs. She is understanding and flexible. LOVE!!
Meghan is an extremely caring professor. I've taken multiple courses by her and she is very passionate about her classes and students. She takes the time out of her day to help you with anything you might need. Her classes are structured using student feedback that I found to be helpful in understanding the courses.
This is my second class I've taken with Meghan and I can still say she's one of my favorite professors. She is extremely intelligent and really wants to make sure we are understanding the material and will do anything to help. Since taking her class, I feel my ability to analyze and interpret political intervention has gone up tremendously.
Meghan is the best! Took her for 356 & 100 and her knowledge is unmatched. She's smart, super funny, very understanding, & wants students to succeed. Attendance isn't mandatory, but lectures are great. Only 2 papers required, but they're content-heavy. She's a little disorganized, but it doesn't affect course structure much. Take Meghan if you can!
Meghan is more than a professor. She wants you to succeed and will do anything to help you out. I will be taking her next semester for 3 semesters in a row now. You're only graded on 2 papers and participation but SHE WILL HELP YOU! Ask about her HOA
Idk maybe I am just not built for this type of professor, but I could not get into the no structure she used, and she always says "the people who have not had me before..." like that should be my problem. I can see a lot of people like her so I guess it is a me thing. I would not recommend this class with all the other PLSC ones you can take...
This is my second time taking Meghan and she is amazing! She really accounts for the many structural inequalities that exist in academia and removes them so you can simply learn. There are no textbooks and attendance is not mandatory but the lectures are very valuable. She genuinely wants her students to succeed so take her if you can!
Inspirational educator who teaches you to think critically and think for yourself. Don't bother reading the syllabus because you don't follow it at all. Cold calls, flexible with deadlines and overall a very passionate individual.
This is my second time taking Meghan, she does not disapoint. She is so accommodating for "neurospicy" students (as she would say). She is inspirational, iconic, caring, funny and so much more. She is truly one of the best professors at Loyola, everything she says is interesting and it is not hard to get an A. She is a mentor to me and helps sm
Meghan genuinely cares about her students and their successes. She makes her expectations clear and is very understanding of personal issues. I highly recommend her as both a professor and as a person.
Meghan is a super chill and caring. She's young and fun, which is refreshing! While the workload wasn't difficult, the discussions were nuanced and insightful. If you prefer structure and organization, you'll need some time to adjust to Meghan's teaching style. Overall, though, a great professor who wants what's best for all her students.
I genuinely loved Meghan, she's very sweet and cares a lot for her students in and out of the classroom. Her teaching truly is very helpful coming from a visual learner. Definitely you learn a lot from Meghan, I will be taking her again!!
Meghan is interesting... not sure I would recommend this class to people who are used to a lot of structure. She often does not use slides/notes and just bases the lectures off a loose framework.
Meghan genuinely cares about her students and will always be available for a recommendation letter or a late-night zoom call, but I learned very little from her class. She cancelled many classes and arrived late most days of the semester. She has lots of passion for the subject and is very knowledgeable, yet it did not always translate into class.
Meghan is extremely kind, she is very passionate about the subject she is teaching and knows so much about her field. That being said her teaching style was very interesting. I was excited to be in this class but learned little to nothing, she does not answer her emails, and class lectures don't cover much. There is little structure to the class.
Meghan is the best professor at Loyola!!! The material is conceptually difficult; yet, very digestible and approachable. Her content is always interesting, her exam format is suitable for every learning style, and there's class notes if you miss a day! Love Meghan, she's an inspiration and I'm sad for the day I won't be able to take her class.
Professor Iverson is very unreliable, and didn't really teach me anything. She is caring, but that is overshadowed by her unorganization. Class is cancelled at least once a week, her planning is haphazard, and the entire semester I was unclear of what the expectation was. Don't pay attention to the syllabus, it is wrong anyway.
Incredibly brilliant prof but is overshadowed by disorganization and chaos. It's the sixth week of classes and she has cancelled a total of five times, two of which while the class was already in the room. Assignments are disorganized and no valuable lessons were taught. It's hard to learn from a course when the prof doesn't teach ANYTHING.
I really want to like her course, she's really engaging, accessible, and you get to pick your own syllabus which I absolutely love. She's however really disorganized, classes cancelled often and little communication on what she's looking for in assignments. Avoid if you need structure, great if you're looking for a reference or independent study
Prof. Iverson is a great professor coming from the Intelligence community. She is very knowledgable on material however sometimes it is difficult to track where you're at as classes are not structured just based on conversations we had in class. Grade is based on the amount of points you receive, and you have all semester to get work done.
Meghan is so nice and caring. She allows you to be graded on your own terms, and as long as you participate in class she will make sure you get an A. Her lectures are sometimes all over the place, but always very engaging and insightful. She puts so much work into her teaching both in and out of the classroom it's insane.
She's awesome! She changes the syllabus, so it can feel a little disorganized sometimes, but she's very understanding, and there are lots of opportunities to earn points. She's very knowledgeable, and the lecture is always interesting; she brought in some cool guest lectures.
Prof Iverson is truly my favorite professor. She is a political science genius and her background makes for a bunch of fantastic conversation. I can't recommend her enough. She cares for all her students and wants everyone to succeed! Take her class!!
Great mentor if you're looking for help with internships, fellowships, grad school apps, or career advice. The class was interesting, but if you're looking for a traditionally structured class where you gain foundational knowledge on a subject, be prepared for a very different experience. Values in-class discussion and real-world applications.
Her unique approach scared me since it was not structured like any other course , but I ended up adoring it; dive in head first, and engage with the challenge. Though attendance is not taken, it is important and worth showing up for the awesome lectures. She is funny, caring, and profoundly knowledgeable. It is different, but that's for the best
One of the best professors I've had at Loyola. Lectures are amazing and interactive! She is always looking for new ways to bring real-world experiences to classroom. Super flexible, passionate, and clearly knowledgeable about what she teaches which can't be said for most professors. Also, gives great (and honest) career advice + recommendations!
I've taken 3 classes with Meghan, and she is the most knowledgable political science professor I've worked with. Very willing to help you excel in your academic and professional career. She does take her classes at a different approach, (get to create own assignments) which can intimidate people. I find her approach to be learnable and stress free.
Shes really sweet and funny but she is INSANELY unorganized. I usually dont care about this but it gets to a point.. but.. you barely have to go to class you just have to complete a certain amount of assignments by the end of the semester. Shes obviously very smart and knows what shes talking about though!
Was trying out new grading system that was very chaotic. Very knowledgable and intelligent. Great person to have a conversation with and could potentially learn a lot from her. Do not take 102 with her. Would recommend taking a 200 or higher course. Not good at teaching basics, but still worth taking at some point at loyola. also cancelled a lot.
Professor Iverson is very intelligent and knows what she is talking about. However, the class is very disorganized and hard for an intro class. She lets you make your own assignments, but did not post the assignments till 3 weeks before everything was due. She also cancelled class a lot and sometimes wouldn't let us know till 5 minutes before.
Everyone should take Meghan at least once. Her class structure may be what you're not used to, but I learned a lot about myself and how to motivate myself to complete work on things I'm passionate about. Meghan is one of the smartest people I've ever encountered and even just by being around her you will learn something. Above all, she truly cares.
Meghan has really expanded my knowledge beyond the course materials and brings in current events, guest lecturers, and forms our learning around the student's interest. Very unique and is easily the most accommodating professor at Loyola. You're able to pick your forms of assessment that cater to your strengths with the ultimate goal of learning.
meghan is great! her class is super flexible and she really cares about all her students. the grading super fair. lectures are interesting. take her class!
Professor Iverson was one of the best professors I have had at Loyola University. She is very caring and understanding and wants to make the learning process easy for you. She's willing to accommodate your needs and is all around easy going. If you want a professor that cares about you, take her class!!!
I've taken Professor Meghan 3 times and she's amazing! She's knowledgeable, caring, flexible, and truly wants you to succeed. She makes complex topics easy to understand and assigns creative work that makes you think. Highly recommend her. TAKE HER!
Professor Iverson is one of the best professors I've had at Loyola. The course brought current events, philosophy, and real-world issues in a way that she designed, allowing students to connect classroom content to what's happening around them. This made a huge difference in how I engaged with the world outside of class.
She genuinely wants her students to be prepared for life after graduation, not just exams. Highly recommend her class if you want something intellectually rich, flexible, and grounded in the real world. Students who have hidden disabilities like ADHD should be provided with the proper accommodations, and she does this.
Absolutely take her!! Prof. Iverson is one of the best professors I've ever had. She explains things so clearly, and she actually cares if you're learning. Her lectures are super engaging, and she's so approachable. 10/10 recommend!!
I was struggling in other classes but Professor Iverson made this one feel doable. She's really organized and gives great feedback. Honestly, she made me enjoy the subject way more than I expected.
No joke, Meghan Iverson is THAT professor. She breaks everything down so it actually makes sense, and she's super patient. If you have the chance to take her, DO IT.
She's funny, smart, and super supportive. Class never felt like a drag. It's rare to find a professor like her, totally changed how I feel about school.
She's honestly so amazing, I have ADHD and up until I took one of Meghan's classes I felt like it was such a burden as many professors don't understand. She's completely different and made me view the world and even school differently. Please take her!!!!!!!
Professor Iverson is seriously the kindest and most helpful professor I've had. She's always willing to answer questions and her lectures are actually interesting. We need more professors like her.
I was nervous about this class but she made it so much better. She explains things clearly and never makes you feel dumb for asking questions. Loved the vibes she brings to class.
Honestly, I wish I could take every class with her. She's that good. Clear expectations, fair grading, and super engaging. Don't miss your chance to take her she's willing to work with you!!!!
Made me love the subject, I didn't even care about this subject before, but she made it so interesting. She really knows her stuff and teaches in a way that actually sticks.
Don't even think twice. She's the kind of professor you wish you had in every class. Clear, helpful, encouraging, and knows how to teach. Easily one of the best out there.
Professor Iverson made a huge difference in my semester. Her teaching style is super effective and she's just a great person all around. Highly recommend!!
I'm telling you, TAKE HER, she makes hard topics make sense and always checks in to make sure everyone's doing okay. Honestly can't say enough good things. Best professor I've ever had, period.
Professor Iverson actually teaches. Not just slides and lectures, she breaks it down and makes sure we get it. You can tell she cares. One of the few professors I'd take again in a heartbeat.
I've never felt so supported in a class before. She's kind, responsive, and just makes learning feel natural. If you're thinking about it, stop. Just take her.
AMAZING PROFESSOR!!!!! If your are a PLSC major, you have to take a class with Meghan. 100%. Super understanding, knowledgable, and smart. Very clear and flexible grading system. Just show up to class and participate.
Professor Iverson's class was a mess. I'm all for flexibility, but it gets to a point. She showed up to class late almost every single day (and I'm not exaggerating). Sometimes you would arrive and then get an email saying she wasn't coming. There were no readings assigned, no assignments, one final project. Easy A, but waste of my time and money.
Class was very engaging and she challenges people to think critically about our weekly topics. Her grading was straight forward and understandable.
Meghan has been one of my favorite professors I've had so far. It is super easy to get an A. She is very flexible and allows you to pick what assignments you want to do to earn credit for the class. She is super encouraging, and all she wants is for you to learn something. She is super knowledgeable too, and I would definitely take her again.
Great prof. Genuinely, you get out of it what you put into it. Her class teaches you real-life practical skills and approaches for those who want to go into anything government-related. Very complex and engaging.
Meghan provides such a good environment to learn and hone your skills for real-life experiences. The more you put into the class, the more you get out, especially since she is always eager for new conversation points and things to tie back to the course, no matter the topic. She is such a caring and hilarious professor, a true gem here at Loyola.
Rating this class by what is expected of us assignment-wise, it is very easy since the assignments she gives us is very versatile and flexible. However, the content is challenging since she requires her students to engage with the material and think critically. I overall really enjoyed this class and having her as a professor, I highly recommend!
I really liked her as a person, I'm just a bit baffled by how often she would cancel or change to Zoom when half the students were already there waiting. Super funny but a bit disorganized.
Iverson is a force as a professor; her ability to apply her professional experience while guiding our class through difficult conceptual material was unwavering. She has also been an excellent educational and professional mentor, consistently helping students with real-world bureaucratic systems and structures. Take her, you wont regret.
The course style is unique, with grading based on participation and grasp of material. Iverson fosters a transformative environment where I could choose my learning path to fit my needs. Because of this, I was encouraged to engage with the content and translate knowledge into meaningful action. Finally, Iverson has some good career advice to share!
Can't say enough good things, honestly just take her, it will change your life! I'm very grateful to have taken this class because it changed my opinion on many different political themes and if anything actually expanded my mindset on them. She's willing to work with you and has many different formats to make the student's life as easy as possible
Would highly recommend!
Many students take as many of her classes as they can, she's that good!
I really liked this class and would recommend to anyone I know
Loved how there's many different ways you can choose to be tested, first professor I've seen that does this
Really cares about her students and it shows with the syllabus and evehtnjnt she does
Very surprised to see how theres different questions and even the type of assessment you want. This is extremely unique as I've never had a professor be this accommodating to students. Made things very clear and less stressful since it's based on what you want.
She's an incredible professor who explains political systems in a way that actually makes sense and stays interesting. Beyond academics, she gives genuinely helpful life advice that sticks with you. Her flexible, student centered testing format makes learning feel fair.
This is one of the few classes where I felt supported the entire semester. She mixes strong course material with practical life advice and her testing format lets students play to their strengths.
She's easily one of the best professors I've had so far. Classes are engaging, expectations are clear and she wants students to succeed.
This professor makes the class feel welcoming and manageable. She explains everything well and is always supportive when students need help.
She creates a respectful and supportive classroom atmosphere. Everything is explained thoroughly, and she's always willing to help.
All the readings and clips were great and actually made understanding various concepts surrounding political science way easier and more practical.
This professor genuinely cares about her students and prioritizes their success. She is very clear about expectations for participation, grading, and assignments. I would definitely take her again and highly recommend her class.
