I loved this class! Ms. McIntyre expects you to be on time and do your homework, but she'll work with you as long as you're doing your part. I hated math before this class, and now I like it!
Great teacher!
She checks that students understand what she taught clearly. She tries not to leave anyone behind. Good professor!
Don't even THINK about taking this teacher's class! IMO she does a lousy job of teaching, singles students out and embarrases them, doesn't help you prepare for tests or quizzes, the reviews are useless, counts you tardy if you are 10 seconds late (literally!). If you struggle in math you WILL fail this class. Worst math teacher I have ever had.
Ms. McIntyre is the best math teacher that I've ever had! She gives you every tool that you need to complete the assignment, and is more than happy to help you if you go to her office. She really wants her students to learn. And in her defense, if you arrive 10 seconds after a train has left, you've still missed the train. Just be on time.
good class and great teacher. she seems to love math and is very enthusiastic about teaching it!
she is the only math teacher that i've ever had at wake tech who cares about her students. i love her class!
You can tell Ms. McIntyre really loves calculus. Sometimes she gets a little too excited about it, but it's fun to watch. I would recommend her class!
calculus is hard but ms mcintyre makes it as easy as it can be. do all of your homework and ask a lot of questions and she'll do everything she can to make sure you get a good grade!
I really liked this class. Ms. McIntyre is cool.
great teacher
highest grade i've ever gotten in a math class! great teacher :)
REALLY ENJOYED HER CLASS AND HER TEACHING STYLE!
i really enjoyed this class. the workload was very resonable and ms. mcintyre treated us like adults.
I didn't want to take this class, but I actually really enjoyed it. I felt that after the lecture, in class practice, and homework, the tests were very fair and manageable. Not quite enough time on tests, but they're department tests so it's not really her fault. Would definitely take another class with Ms McIntyre!
TERRIBLE TEACHER!! SHE DOESN'T HELP YOU AT ALL. I TOOK THIS CLASS IN SUMMER 2011 AND DO NOT WRITE EXAMPLES ON BOARD. SHE ONLY USES THE POWERPOINT AND HER ATTITUDE IS VERY NASTY
you can tell she loves math. i was scared of math, but im doing well and going to make a b for the first time ever in a math class! i like how she tries to get to know you as a person.
Great instructor. She was always willing to help out students who put forth the effort in the class.
this class was HARD. She told us it would be hard on the first day and she was right. I feel ms. Mcintyre did everything she could to help us through the class and I enjoyed the class overall. Do you homework everyday though or you will fall way behind...
The instructor is very helpful and friendly
Logical, organized, pragmatic, helpful, friendly, courteous, fair, understanding, lots of homework, 4 projects and all tests were challenging--they often required thinking beyond the lessons and lectures. Usually, a problem or two would be a series of operations so if you were stumped to start, you probably would miss all parts of that problem.
She may enjoy teaching upper level math courses and may be a great teacher in them but she made it clear that she didn't care about our class. We never used our textbook dispite it being referenced in tests and she gave us very little actual teaching time and instead dedicated most of our class time to us teaching each other. She was nice though.
Ms. Mcintyre seems to really enjoy teaching this class. As long as you do your homeowrk and ask questions, you should do fine.
survey of math was a very good class. i learned stuff that i'll actually use in real life! ms. mcintyre was very animated and tried to make the class as fun and interesting as possible. i made the highest grade i've ever made in a math class!!
This was a fun class. Ms. Mcintyre was very peppy and seemed to enjoy teaching. She tried to make the class as straightforward as possible, but you have to do your homework. If you do your homework every night, the class isn't too hard! I'm taking her again this fall :)
Easy A if you pay attention in class and do the online homework.
If you attend class, take notes, do your homework and study for tests, you will make an A..... even if Math is not your strong suit.
Even though calculus is really hard, she made it very understandable. Take notes and pay attention and you should earn a high grade.
She makes Calc easy... I am taking this class over the summer and she is a great instructor, cool personality, and forgiving grader. Dont miss class, dont show up late, do your homework, and study for tests. Easy A/B course with a solid teacher.
Beware, she is pretty self centered, snarky, strict on tardies, goes through things too quickly, gives a daily 'attendance quiz' which is pass/fail, grades are based on her 'feelings', gives odd group assignments and is pretty cut-throat all around
Not a good teacher at all. If you need help what so ever, she is useless. She is strict on attendence and you pretty much have to teach yourself.
She may never use the textbook but she uses a teacher made booklet that's only $8 + $70 for the webassign/unneeded e-textbook. She's boring and takes points off for stupid things. She also covers her mistakes by saying "I meant to do that! just seeing if you're paying attention!" and there's a stupid, unnecessary "attendance" quiz every day.
Very negative teacher. Attendance quizzes every day and due when class starts. Grading is sporadic and inconsistent. No leniency, don't bother to ask for help. If you ask a question she will disregard it. Very immature and unprofessional.
TERRIBLE! She is the worst at answering your questions and will not stop during notes and explain something she just keeps going so it makes you fall behind. Grading was very inconsistent and never goes over attendance quizzes. Fairly easy material and test are made by Wake tech. Do your lab book and study on your own because she is no help.
Mrs. McIntyre is a relatively young teacher. At times, I felt she would be better suited teaching middle school students, than college students. She does love math and her passion for math comes through in her preparation and lectures. Her tests and homework are fair. She'll continue to improve as a teacher and will help you if you ask.
Never missed a day or was late but still HATED the attendance quizzes.. And if anybody was making the slightest sound they were shushed like elementary school students. BUT it made for less distractions so I understand that. VERY hard to get questions answered so clarity comes from doing the HW and quizzes and learning how to apply it.
If you ask for help good luck. Very strict and doesn't allow for questions during class. Will not offer help and constantly refers you to the ILC for help. Always asks you to "quickly" tell her what you need - makes you feel rushed. Does not give feedback on quizzes or projects so you can understand what you got wrong
She gives a lot of homework and, though I don't like to admit it, it helps. She doesn't give homework just for the sake of making the class work, she gives it to help the students understand the material. She also gives clear examples for each topic. She's not overly friendly, but she isn't cold either; she is a good teacher though.
I did not like her, She did not believe in Study guides. If you missed a day in class and there was a worksheet, you won't get a copy of it. She did not explain the materials correctly or clearly.
Took MAT171 in fall of 2014. Since I had been away from math for a long time I needed a good teacher, not an easy one. Ms. M. was definitely a good teacher, and not especially easy, though she was fair and gave reasonable partial credit on exams. Ms. M. compares math to sports -- you do not get good at it by reading or watching. You must DO it.
Ms. McIntyre made math bearable for me again. She is very clear and helpful with her explanations of the concepts, and truly wants her students to succeed in her class. She is very understanding and easy to approach should you have a question or concern to address. There was quite a bit of busy work in this course, but it was helpful for the tests.
Very nice teacher. Would recommend her! Lectures are sometimes boring but she try to include interesting stories to keep your attention. Always willing to help. It's still a math class and there's work to be done. Lots of group projects that are supposed to boost your grade!
I found this professor to be very good at presenting assignments over YouTube. I found this to be most helpful. This course is done using Excel. I would have liked her to be more present when needed. It is very hard to get her to respond to emails. Attendance is a must or she will drop you. Overall, she is excellent at helping you virtually :).
Expect a ton of HW, as in 20 hours a week of work, at least. Problems are not explained clearly, no real way to get help on most of the HW so use google to help you out. Every week it is a group project, 4-5 assignments not counting the online math lab either. Be prepared to have no life or let other classes slide.
love her style. No need to buy any book , her lectures are so good.
Has a deep knowledge and passion for mathematics, and teaching math to others. Is a fair grader, and lets students know what will be expected of them. Be prepared to be tested often to make sure you understand the concepts of the class.
Not my favorite teacher. Good at explaining but keep up because she won't go backwards. Quizzes every day without notes. Wasn't available by email before 2 tests. Does have helpful youtube videos. A lot of projects and homework but it helps you learn it.
For the MAT143 online course, Prof. McIntyre offers videos and presentations on weekly subjects but keep in mind that the textbook is still critical if you want extra example problems to learn from. Every week expect several hours worth of homework, including quizzes and Excel-based projects. Exams are more forgiving than homework as work is shown.
She is very helpful whenever questions are asked and is a good grader. There are a lot of assignments, but they are easy. She posts youtube videos and tutorials to help you every step of the way.
I suck at math and I can tell you if you know just a little bit of math this class will be good for you, the teacher is great and gives plenty of opportunity for students to receive a wonderful grade in this course. She also has a Youtube channel explaning homework problems, and she responds quickly and is always ready to help.
I have taken many online courses before. I was shocked w/this one. Ms. McIntyre doesn't reply to emails that are course-related but will send emails to the entire class about how she "felt like she was going to throw up from a migraine." She also leaves it up to students to teach each other through "collaboration," more like laziness on her behalf.
Statistics with her was amazing! She made it so easy to understand, and she made an 8am math class bearable. She gives ALOT of homework, but missing one - two days of class wont kill you, if you keep up with homework. She's very nice, and her tests are pretty easy. Overall, I would take her class again.
She's a great teacher if you pay attention in class and participate in discussions. It's not an easy A but she is always available to help and encourages students to help each other. If you take statistics, take it with her!
SHES THE BEST. She knows her stuff and is so helpful. She gives a lot of resources to help students study but doesn't give a lot of mandatory homework. The only thing I didn't like was the group projects every chapter. But if you have issues with your group, she is accommodating for that too.
Lots of groups projects and she is so rude.
She doesnt answer e-mails. This doesnt seem to translate well to on-line class.
Mrs. McIntyre is a gem, one of the sweetest teachers I have had at Wake Tech. There are daily attendance quizzes, but she drops some and they count for very little towards your final grade. She cares about her students and wants everyone to succeed. Instead of one large project she does mini-projects for each section of work which I found helpful.
I enjoyed taking her class. Very organized and clear about deadlines and assignments. She is really sweet but sometimes can be sarcastic or passive aggressive when someone ask something she already cover. There is a 1 quiz in EVERY class at the first 5 minutes; So make sure you not only attend class but also arrive ON TIME. recommend
I managed an A in this class! I usually struggle with math but actually enjoyed this statistics class.... She has a YouTube video for every chapter and if you print out her PowerPoints and take notes on that, youll be fine! There are mini projects every week that are sometimes group projects which I didnt like
She absolutely hated me, although i didn't do nothing to her, giving class while pregnant and experiencing her mood swings on me, I'm never recommending her to anyone, neither am i ever taking her class again, everyone in the class notices her hatred towards me, it isn't even funny.
She is the best and her class was so easy for me. I did all the homework and I only studied for the final and I had a high A the whole semester. Shes super helpful and good at explanations, but make sure you pay attention and ask questions. There is an attendance quiz at the beginning of each class so dont be late! Overall 10/10, would take again.
Professor McIntyre is there every step of the way in this challenging course. She is the most active online professor I've had. Don't miss the attendance checks assigned twice a week, or you will be dropped from the class. Math is always an active/aggressive class, so expect that. 16 weeks was condensed down into 8-weeks, but she made it bearable.
This class was very interesting. She is full of knowledge and explains it well. Can be passive aggressive quite often and not afraid to call you out. Tests were hit and miss. If you want to get an A or B you need to study hard.
Professor McIntyre was great! Her lectures were detailed, and she spent a lot of time working out examples. There was a lot of homework, but it wasn't "busy work." A lot of the practice questions from the homework were similar to questions on the test (no surprises!). She also had review days where she would answer questions and review any material
This is hands down the worst math class I've taken. I know everyone is adjusting to online but she doesn't do anything to help us. There is so much work each week and the videos she posts doesn't explain anything. I feel like I'm at a loss and I'm trying to teach myself the entire course. Her powerpoints make no sense and so many projects
Not to be rude but an awful professor. She assigns so much work and honestly doesnt do much to help you out. Very few videos to explain things and the textbook wont help you at all. The tests are absolutely nothing like the homeworks so its very difficult to do well. I would avoid if you can but she does drop some of your low quiz grades.
I took stat with her, and honestly the worse class I have ever taken in my life. I am usually good at math subjects, however this class was just really bad. She never explained anything, and you had to teach yourself everything. She also was absolutely convinced no matter what I did, that I was 'suspicious' and didn't do my work myself. Never again
I am 4.0 student. She gets mixed reviews so I chose her. Big mistake. She doesn't answer questions clearly and she says the exam is like the lab manual but it's just not true. She intentionally tries to leave things out so she can have "gotcha" type questions. Ego gets in the way of teaching. She doesn't want you to get an A, so good luck.
Her job is to teach and grade, and that's all she likes to do. Her expectations:(attendance ass. PRIOR to class, expects u to understand material fully BEFORE CLASS, u get ONE sub!, attend class(know ur stuff, she calls on every student mult. times !), a weekly mini project, and 4 exams. If u know how to work hard, and I mean hard, u will pass!
She is not super bad like the other reviews say, I had her online this semester and she was willing to help with questions if you posted on collaboration. She is not rude and actually nice. Just prepare to do the work, study for the tests, and answer peoples questions for extra credit. That is the only way she gave out extra credit, which sucked.
This class had multiple due dates throughout the week for different assignments, including weekly 'mini' projects. While she did drop some grades at the end of the semester, she was not lenient with due dates in emergency situations. Some of the videos and PowerPoints were also hard to follow along with.
My experience in this class, with this professor, was TERRIBLE! Does not actually teach you the information, expects you to just know the information even though it was never taught. So much work! Many tests, hard exams, not very forgiving, not good at communication. This class had me rocking in a fetal position every week. Most honest review.
There's a lot of work but it's a four credit class - be ready to do a lot of "optional" homework if you want to pass. She rambles about tangents sometimes but it's usually not too bad. Much better than the other prof I had the first time I tried 152. There's a small quiz at the beginning of class every week but they aren't a surprise.
Prof. Mcintyre is an excellent instructor. She really knows her stuff and is extremely qualified (Went to Duke), she is assertive and witty. Don't misunderstand that as her being mean or harsh. She is actually very kind and understanding. Her mini-projects are more engaging than just doing problems over and over. You should give her a shot!
Very useful math, simple but you will need it at one point or another
Never done a review, for this class I had to. This teacher is incredibly rude passive aggressive and not understanding. She is very power needy and is very discouraging when asking questions or seeking help. I looked for tutoring to get the grade I had. She talked about students in other classes. She gave quizzes every day for attendance. Dont take
I would take Ms.McIntyre over any other stats professor. Super helpful and caring. Doesn't make anyone feel left out, open to answer any questions happily. At the beginning of the semester, I was worried about my grade, but she drop a lot of the lowest grades. You get cheat sheets for the exam just practice and write your notes. Love this professor.
Im already bad at math and this professor was not helpful at all. Her office hours were at 8 in the morning for 15 minutes, only on Mondays. When asking what I could do to improve my grade, I basically got an email repeating the syllabus. Would not recommend this class online. I alsohatedtheNorthernTestingCenter, whichwaswherewehadtogototakeexams.
Professor McIntyre was great. She knows what she's teaching and tries to make it as easy as possible for her students to learn. Fyi, there are attendance quizzes in the beginning of each class so be on time. Every other project is in groups. As someone's who isn't the best at math, this class has been fairly easy.
No comment, as in, I have nothing good nor bad to say about her. With that said, she is the kind of teacher that people make memes about. The memes where the teachers says "The test isn't hard at all" Then on the test there's some over the top questions. Homework: 24/2+12 Test: If the sun is X and the moon is Y, what is the circumference of space?
Professor McIntyre is a good person who cares about her students; however, as a math teacher, she tends to be a harsh grader. If you take this class, you'll have to work hard every week; as someone not good at math, passing with a C was remarkable. If you need this class as a credit, work hard and study; that's all you need.
I had Professor McIntyre for Statistics. Going in, I was terrified. Professor McIntyre is a great teacher though. She never hesitated to pause when someone needed help with an excel input, and she was invested in us doing well: she gave us opportunities to add points to our tests by placing top 3 in Kahoot, and she was always quick to respond ooc.
Everyone participates by answering in order of your seating. Daily attendance quizzes but they're easy. HW is on blackboard and if you practice the lab questions then you should be fine for the tests. You are allowed a notecard for tests and one page of notes for exams. There is extra credit available. My test/exam grades were never below a 90.
Drops a good amount of lowest grades at the end of the semester, and is happy to answer questions. May be a bit difficult and homework/project heavy but definitely doable
3 homeworks a week but drops a few at the end of the course. Projects + hw can be a bit time consuming. Exams are pretty easy since you can use excel and a notecard with formulas.
This teacher is absolutely horrible. Get ready to do the amount of work in 4 classes but in one. Each unit you will have a ridiculous amount of assignments, proctored tests on campus and group projects in math... Also these projects will be due the day before your test. You have no time to study and ILC will be worthless b/c no one there knows how
Gave no feedback. Very strict grading. No partial credit. No multiple choice. Five in person tests at the testing site. All work needs to be shown by hand. Class eas very intense.
Honestly, I really enjoyed her class. She gives attendance assignments which is annoying. Other than that, she explains things well and gives ample recourses in blackboard, plus a note card for tests. Stay up to date, visit the TLC (and their YouTube), and you'll do fine. She is caring and understands absences if kept in the loop.
If you can take any other teacher do it, she is probably the worst teacher at wake tech especially for adults. When you have a full time job this class is a huge load for no reason. Lab after lab test after test hw after hw. It never ends and when you think you completed everything SHE WILL RELEASE MORE THATS DUE IN 2 DAYS AND MAY BE A HUGE LAB
AWFUL. No reality on the balance of school. guess what we are adults and dont need to do group projects maybe the teacher needs to fill up her schedule because too much time on her hands material does not help us learn it
NOPEEE teaching doesnt exist anymore its just piling on work
this is a teacher whos mission is not to help but gate keep people graduating to make her class as difficult as possible maybe she does not want anyone to succeed oh and her office hours on campus not available but has time to keep hw goingggg
Really rude teacher who is unhelpful would not take if you have an option
Her stats class is really fun. While you need to do a lot of homework (3ish per week) and a mini project here and there, the work load isn't terrible. Tests are hard, but she gives you a notecard. LEARN EXCEL BEFORE TAKING 152, it helps a lot towards the end of the class. She's passive aggressive but she cares a lot.
Highly recommend Professor McIntyre for MAT-152. She wants her students to do well and will provide extra credit opportunities to boost your grade at the end of the semester. Attendance is mandatory and she calls on everyone during lecture to answer questions. As long as you do the lab book you'll have no problem on the tests.
She is amazing at teaching and provides you with EVERYTHING you need to succeed. I 100% recommend her. It is a very easy class if you do your part as a student.
Very stringent. You must be in every class on time and complete a pop quiz. Even then, if you don't get all 5 questions correct, it will be counted against you. Tests are hard and timed. Lots of HW. Expect 10+ hours a week. Very little availability outside of class. Says everything you need to know is either online or at the Help Center.
Gives no feedback. No extra credit opportunities. Very strict grading. No compassion. Lacks empathy. I would never take another class with her.
I loved having Professor McIntyre! She is such a caring teacher and truly wants her students to succeed. As long as you do your part, and do your homework, you will succeed!
