Nice teacher that recently just came in to IRSC. Young guy, helpful, and well educated in his degree. Also easy to contact, replies to emails and etc. Its a depressing class, due to the subject, but its bearable. I recommend him.

Nice guy. Very intelligent, and knows his stuff. The subjects get depressing, but are truthful. He is very easy to speak to, and he returns emails promptly.

nice guy. his class is neither easy nor hard. you just have to read your book and study what he tells you to study. his test are pretty straight forward... he lets you correct your wrong answers and make up half a point. his essays are easy.

Great teacher, one of the best ive had so far. Greatly reommended for these course of classes.

All you need to do to pass the tests is read the chapters in the text book. If you just rely on the power points you wont be able to answer some questions. Use the power points to answer questions on his test review. He grades quizzes on participation so if your there you get full credit. Teaches you stuff everyone should know about- makes you awar

Dr. Probstfield is an amazing professor! He is extremely helpful and easy going. The writing assignments are very straight forward and he only wants one page double spaced. You grade your own quizes. All chapters are outlined and posted in PP. The tests are easy if you pay attention in class and he gives reviews for all tests. Take him!! A+++

Pretty kool teacher. Freindly likes to explain his powerpoints throughly which makes the class boring. The tests are hard questions are long are badly worded. If you read the book and PP you will be ok

I took Probstfield for both Sociology and Social Problems. He's an awesome professor! He's laid back and easy to talk to. I highly recommend him to anyone!

I TOOK SYG 2010 FOR SUMMER II AND HIS CLASS WAS PRETTY EASY. SUGGESTION FOR TESTS: STUDY ALL POWERPOINT DISCUSSIONS DONE IN CLASS AND YOU WILL DO FINE.

Seems pretty cool and laid back. Social problems is an interesting subject to me and he just makes it even more fun. he gets the class involved and thouroughly explains the work. I recommend. :D

Pretty cool class. Prof. Probstfield is a really nice guy and the group project he assigned wasn't too bad. Tests can be tricky but if you understand main concepts you should be fine. I definitely reccomend him!

AMAZING TEACHER!!! I loved this class!!! I am not a social science major, but I am considering it now thanks to him. I made about C average on the tests, but he gave us a choice on if we would like to do a project or a paper and that with my attendance gave me an A. He is very fair and you would only hurt yourself if you don't take him.

He's mono toned and kinda boring. His test are easy, if you follow the power points and his study guide. However, there was a group project that will take you almost the entire semester to finish.

Very friendly guy...enjoyed this class very much. Professor P is super laid back. Class is very informative. You will learn much. 4 tests and 4-6 page term paper. Just read the chapters and study the p-point he gives and you will do great on the tests. Highly recommend!

I seriously loved that class. He made it interesting and he's funny. Extremely lenient on attendance and there's basically no homework; it's a study class. Also, he's hawt! Take the class:)

This class was very eye opening about the systems in which we live in and how those systems have systems. I really enjoyed the class an I wish I would've taken it during the summer. The professor is great! I swear if sociologists were in demand I would switch my major!

I took this class over the summer and it was a blast. He makes the class interesting and all tests are pretty basic. You don't really need to study, just show up and pay attention, be involved in the discussions and it's an easy A. I would strongly recommend him in whatever you're able to take him for. He's brilliant and enjoyable. Loved it!

Brilliant man! Very educated in his field, his lectures are extremely helpful. He is not monotone, his voice is actually nice to listen to! The tests are easy as long as you do his study guide(which are excellent by the way), and show up to class and you will be fine! Thoroughly enjoyed this class.. I hope to take his others!

Meghan is cool. Very monotonous, VERY boring. but cool. he knows his crap. Very helpful and nice. Pretty easy if you read and pay attention.his study guides are just like his tests. Good teacher.u get 3% to your final grade for perfect attendance. If you miss 3 classes you drop a letter grade..sucks. and he keeps you in class until the last second!

Chill prof. not* a hard class, just study the powerpoints that he gives on Angel. He's kinda boring sometimes b/c he reads off the powerpoints basically. Take the class he's laid back & nice.

Awesome teacher! I didn't want to miss a class, which is a rarity for me. He is very helpful and understanding if you are late or miss class. He does mostly lectures and we only had one big project, and it was just a powerpoint! We never had any homework and the class was very interesting. My only problem was remembering to take the online quizzes

I feel after taking his class that I did learn quite a bit. Yet since he is incredibly intelligent and speaks impeccable, it made things difficult for me to understand. If you take his class, just do the work and study for the exam. Ask help for clarification on anything, he is very informative and helpful. Great teacher!

Great online class. Lots of work but all very mangeable and pretty simple. One paper, a few chapter quizzes, a final, and a few discussions/mini-papers. I learned alot and got a high A with relatively little effort. Suggested course for those who will not slack off.

Pretty easy class if you enjoy sociology. Almost all of the class is just talking about social issues and how to fix them. He's a pretty good teacher and I reccomend the class.

Dr. Probsfield is the greatest professor at IRSC. very laid back and cool. I wish all professors were like him. He gives out real scenarios to students so they can have a clear understanding of the knowledge pertained to that particular course. He will answer any questions after class regarding the course. I can literally go on and on. (no room)

Has pretty difficult tests, but they aren't worth much, there is a paper in APA format that is worth most of your grade and that is what he wants you to focus on, it isn't too hard though. He was a fun teacher and it was a very interesting class to take.

Awesome professor. Very easy to talk to. He can have long lectures but I loved his class. He's a very down to earth, smart person who knows exactly what he's talking about. Love him!

Lectures are long and he is definitely monotonous, but that being said, he knows his subject matter and is super helpful. There is a LOT of content covered, but tests are straight forward, and he makes it so you barely even need the book. I do agree it takes a little caffeine to get through, but I'd absolutely take another class with him anyway.

Do the reading, pay attention to the rubrics, and submit assignments on time. Easy A.

Super knowledgeable. Lectures kind of drag out but he brings interesting stuff up. There is a research paper but it's easy as research papers go. Do not procrastinate! He gives you the opportunity to turn in a first draft of the paper and resubmit it after he corrects it, so take advantage of that.

There are 12 modules and while that may sound like a lot, it went by quickly (I'm in Highschool, work, and in 5 college classes). The assignments and modules weren't hard and the tests and quizzes weren't either. Exam 1 and 3 are online, but the 2 and 4 are at a campus. There is no extra credit. There is also 2 papers and 3 discussions.

Incredibly knowledge professor, however lectures tend to drag on, reviews two slides per class. He does however gets through all the material. He stresses the term paper, there are 3 submission dates, do not procrastinate! Follow the rubric, he gives very detailed annotations, follow his corrections and you are guaranteed a good grade. Great guy!

He is a good professor and he is willing to work with you , just just have to follow the rubric , help yourself and you'll be good to go

If you're taking this class please don't take it in the summer. Feel like this would of been a good class to take but I was wrong. One good thing is you get to take two at home exams besides that I never had a teacher in my life who grades you for practice questions on mindtap. Teacher also was a tough grader when it came to essays

Dr. Probstfield is great when it comes to feedback and he responds very quickly. If you have additional questions about the class or your grades he is always willing to give additional feed forward for the next time. Take his advice!!!!

Dr. Probstfield is an excellent professor. She is clear on her expectations and won't deviate from them. You will have to work, but doing so, you will learn. She gives excellent feedback and it is individualized to each student, no blanket statements. She provides study guides and resources necessary to learn the information. Would take again.

Wonderful professor. I took him virtually and he is one of the best professors I ever had. He gives great feedback on essays which helped me tremendously. His unit tests are not horribly difficult if you read the chapters. However, the chapters take a while to read and analyze. No extra credit. The final is not accumulative and is a bit tricky.

I've taken this professor online and in person and absolutely love his teaching style. He always provides great feedback and is extremely understanding. I really feel like I've walked away from both of his classes with having learned a good amount of material and I find his lectures to be extremely interesting.

I took sociology of death with Probstield, who was a great teacher. He assigns a lot of readings (DONT do them the night before) but they are interesting- be warned though, they are masters level material and some are hard to read. He breaks down each reading though and makes everything digestible. Amazing class, great guy, great teacher. 10/10

He's one of the best professors I've ever had. His class never felt like work to me. I was excited to listen to his lectures. I felt like he really cared about what he was saying and was more talking to us as people than just spitting out facts and material. He was very understanding and open to other's ideas. Wish I could take this class again.

I took SYG2010 online with this professor. If you do the work, you will not do poorly in this class. However, I took my time when completing the assignments off of cengage, but even with the book right next to me I still wasn't getting A's on the practice quizes and sometimes the quizes off of blackboard. Hard class overall, not what I expected.

I enjoyed this class and liked how everything was due at the end of the semester so I could work at my own pace.

Overall a great professor and can't wait to have take his other classes. His lectures are very informational and useful. My class was very small so it was more desirable because we had a discussion/debate based lecture. Some advice, stay on track with his schedule of activities, there's a bunch to do in Cengage!

Good communication, quick to respond, and would Course Message us about a week before an assignment was due just to remind us. We did get assigned a group project which is hard because it's an online class and in my group, we were spread way out, some of us over an hour away from another.

Probstfield was excellent to take his class. While some of the concepts might seem difficult to understand he took the time to give very detailed explanations. Few group projects, some field trips planned, very engaging activities and assignments. Absolutely loved his class and would totally take again.

Dr. Probstfield gives detailed, helpful feedback on every assignment. Very thorough & may come across as a difficult grader, but honestly as long as you put effort into each assignment & follow instructions you should do fine in this class. Readings were pretty advanced, but the low assignment count makes it doable. Great teacher, would take again!

He hosted an absolutely wonderful class, the assignments were fun and thought-provoking, and gave clear feedback on papers. The field trips were interesting and engaging. I absolutely respect him and would recommend him!
